if anyone bothered to inquire, eliza would say she had been holding up remarkably well for the entirety of the day. she even started to believe it at some point after being asked the exact same question time and time again. truth is, eliza was walking like a shadow. she hadn’t exchanged more than a few words with anyone, hadn’t even mustered the force of spirit to walk into a room full of people and say her final words about richard. she just couldn’t. and now, hours later after the guests had gone and the flowers had been taken away, she felt the guilt starting to sweep in, as sudden and painful as a migraine, knocking the air out of her for what felt like the hundredth time in the last couple of days.

she yearned for something to hold onto, a place where the world wasn’t spinning around with enough force to launch her away. and truthfully, there was only one person left alive that could possibly fill this role. eliza knocked at alison's door softly before peeking inside, a motion so familiar it made her ache with the memories of nights waking her up in the middle of the night - sometimes because of a nightmare, but mostly out of pure childish mischief. as a five years old, alison's room seemed like the coolest place on earth. "hello there." she said softly, trying (and failing) to muster a sincere smile.

@singofus asked: Hestia is raising one hand repeatedly to her eyes, attempting to wipe away all of her tears even as she is making her way to Hera's quarters. She was just...she needed her sister. For a few moments she was just there sniffling outside the door, but when she didn't hear anything from inside she quietly knocked.

"Hera? Are you there?" Her voice calls out, worried she is interrupting. Her mind is just haywire right now, to the extent that Hera really wouldn't have needed the knock on the door at all. Whatever flames may be lit in the room all flickered and wavered on the brink of extinguishing at once.

"Can I come in?"

a notebook sat open in hera’s lap, forgoing her usual perfect penmanship for a quick, messy scrawl. she liked to review her meetings from the day, jotting down what pieces she could remember to compare with her notetakers later. the hearth burned low, and a glass of red wine sat half-drank on the side table. she hummed to herself as she scribbled, enjoying the quiet.

the knock drew her out of her thoughts, pen halting halfway through a word. she glanced up, frowning, before hestia’s quiet voice pierced the silence.

hera was up and at the door in an instant, notebook long since discarded. opening the door, she wasted no time ushering her older sister in. this was not unusual, and hera was experienced with this kind of behaviour. hestia was a balm to all of them - it was only fair hera returned the favour. she just hoped her sister’s situation was not dire.

“sit, dear,” hera commanded, guiding hestia to the sofa. hera waved her hand, and a steaming cup of tea appeared on the coffee table, ready for drinking if hestia desired. “are you just looking for company, or is there something more i can offer you?”

pushing the door open, sister peaks her head inside & as purple eyes find her twin they soften. a quiet sigh passing lips stepping inside to shut it. ❛ nora, ❜ she calls out quietly, fingers rub the fabric of her dress between fingers when coming to stand in front of her sister. who hasn’t looked at her, hasn’t spoken: ❛ you needn’t be perfect at everything right away, you know ? ❜ asked gently, caringly. ❛ ser criston likes to push you & you get frustrated , i know , but father- . . he will be proud of you regardless. ❜
