Wow Lovelies. What a weekend huh? Yall have been clowning/honking (however you wanna describe it) for days now and it's so incredibly uplifting to see! It feels like the beginning of the year again, all buzzing with life in the fandom!

I've seen lots of mixed emotions on the subject of renewal today, so tonight I just want to send you a couple reminders. If you aren't feeling up to Honking for any reason, whether that be that the ups and downs of the cancellation/renewal news, or you've got things going on in your life, or you just don't want to get your hopes up again-- please know, that is OKAY. If you are honking your head off, tweeting, tumbling, drawing, writing, creating, and putting your whole soul into the clowning after David's tweet on Friday -- That's OKAY too. If you're passively keeping an eye on things, waiting for news, or focused on other things-- that's also OKAY. Every single one of us experienced OFMD different from each other. Every single one of us experienced grief from the cancellation differently from one another. Every single one of us has or has not begun to heal differently. If someone is having fun honking-- that's great, keeping doing it babes! If you're feeling like you just can't bear the disappointment again if something goes wrong-- you do what you need to take care of yourself m'dears! Don't push yourself in a way that makes you feel worse. There's no wrong answer here in how to be involved in what's happening right now. Be kind to one another, and let yourself and others do their thing-- and all is well <3 No matter what happens, we're still here for you crew-- we still care. Don't feel bad for how you are coping and engaging with the fandom right now. Just be yourself. Goodnight lovelies, I hope the week ahead treats you with kindness and healing.

Shirley Murdock (born May 22, 1957) is a R&B singer-songwriter, who is known for her hit single “As We Lay” and for her vocals on Zapp and Roger’s hit single “Computer Love”. Her lead vocal special guest appearance with Smooth Jazz artist Ben Tankard, climbed to #1 Gospel and #20 on Billboard Top 200 on WOW Gospel 2006 and is certified Gold. Their collaboration of the Lionel Richie song “Jesus Is Love” is one of the most played songs on Sirius XM Radio's gospel channel for eight years since its initial release.

She started out singing gospel music in her native Toledo. Singer/musician Roger Troutman hired her as a backing vocalist for his family’s band Zapp, which had several hits on Warner Bros. Based on this success, Troutman began recording tracks with her and lead singer Sugarfoot of the Ohio Players, among others, at his Dayton-based recording studio, Troutman Sound Labs. She and Troutman’s first charted single was a Warner Bros. single issued as Roger (featuring Shirley Murdock), “Girl, Cut It Out”, which charted at #79 R&B in early 1985.

Murdock released “No More”, which made it to #24 R&B. Her signature hit, “As We Lay”. The tender, melancholy ballad made it to the R&B Top Ten in 1986 and peaked at #23 pop and #21 on the adult contemporary chart in early 1987. Her debut album was certified gold, also helped along by the follow-up hits “Go on Without You” and “Be Free.” She released albums in 1988 (A Woman’s Point of View) and 1991 (Let There Be Love!). She toured in the inspirational/gospel play Be Careful What You Pray For.

She released Home, her gospel-music debut album, in 2002 on T.D. Jake’s Dexterity Sounds record label. She made her acting debut in the movie Sweating in the Spirit. She signed with Tyscot Records and released her most recent album in March 2007.

In 2009, she collaborated with Teena Marie on the song “Soldier”, from Marie’s album Congo Square. She appeared in the 2009 stage play A Mother’s Prayer, with Johnny Gill, Robin Givens, and Jermaine Crawford. She appeared in “A Mother’s Love” in 2014. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

L'étonnant nouveau Lincoln Nautilus

Connaissez-vous le VUM Lincoln Nautilus? Né sous le nom de Lincoln MKX, ce Véhicule Utilitaire Multisegment (VUM) construit au Canada se voulait une version de luxe du populaire Ford Edge. Lorsque Ford a voulu éliminer sa nomenclature alphanumérique, le MKX a été rebaptisé Nautilus. Mais alors que Ford eut annoncé que son usine d’Oakville en Ontario allait être modifiée pour se spécialiser dans la construction de véhicules électriques (ce qui, depuis ce temps a changé puisque Ford a récemment annoncé qu’Oakville servirait désormais à construire des camions F Super Duty…), l’assemblage des Nautilus a dû déménager. Il s’est alors retrouvé en…Chine, là où la marque connaît une certaine popularité depuis de nombreuses années. En même temps, le VUM Nautilus a été complètement refait pour adopter le look qu’il affiche de nos jours.

Si le Nautilus vous semble plus petit qu’auparavant, regardez-y à deux fois. En fait, il est plutôt un peu plus long au niveau de l’empattement ce qui donnera plus d’espace pour les passagers d’arrière! Oh! Notez que le Nautilus demeure un VUM à cinq passagers et non sept. Et il est un peu plus large. Pour le reste, vous avez certainement remarqué le redesign de l’avant qui inclut une illumination avec un ornement central avec lumière.

Et vu que tout a été redessiné, pourquoi ne pas jeter un coup d’œil à l’intérieur? L’élément le plus surprenant de cette refonte, c’est l’impressionnant tableau de bord qui est ni plus ni moins qu’un écran courbé qui court sous le pare-brise d’un montant à l’autre. Il affiche très bien toute l’instrumentation incluant le compteur de vitesse (qui est si bien placé qu’une réflexion dans le pare-brise n’est pas nécessaire), la montre (à son extrémité droite), la carte ou la radio et une foule de petits détails variés. Toutefois, il y a un autre écran carré au plein milieu de la planche de bord pour la navigation. Une sorte de calandre au centre de cette même branche contient les buses d’aération (qui sont fixes). Quant à la console, elle présente plusieurs commandes dont le volume de la radio (avec un bouton de plastique transparent stylisé) et les réglages de la suspension et autres. Juste au-dessus, vous trouverez les clés sur lesquelles presser pour passer les vitesses (comme sur le plus petit VUM Lincoln Corsair).

Quant au volant, regardez encore une fois sur les photos. Celui-ci, qui semble plus petit, est presque carré avec les arêtes arrondies. Une parfaite reproduction des volant des produits Chrysler du milieu des années soixante…! D’autre commandes dont celles du régulateur de vitesse s’y trouvent incluant celles de la technologie BlueCruise qui permet une conduite autonome limitée (qui peut s’avérer pratique durant de longs voyages mais qu’un amateur de conduite automobile n’appréciera pas…).

Le reste de la finition intérieure y est relativement supérieure à ce que l’industrie automobile américaine nous a proposée dans le passé incluant des sièges ajustables de plusieurs façons et une illumination fascinante pour la nuit (avec le choix des couleurs!). Petite touche intéressante, ma voiture d’essai avait trois petites « cartouches » de différentes fragrances pour changer les odeurs dans la cabine.  En passant, ce Lincoln propose une radio AM-FM-XM Sirius haut de gamme avec une sonorisation Revel Ultima 3FD derrière de petites grilles stylisées.

Évidemment, la sellerie est de cuir alors que les sièges arrière (chauffants) sont inclinables. Leur dossier peut se rabattre pour permettre encore plus de chargement dans un coffre qui est déjà très grand. On y accède facilement par le grand hayon arrière qui peut s’ouvrir par le passage du pied sous le pare-chocs. Le grand toit panoramique est standard sur toute la lignée.

Si vous êtes intéressés par les éléments techniques qui composent ce VUM, sachez que, si mes informations sont exactes, le nouveau Nautilus repose sur une plateforme C2 issue de celle des Escape, Bronco Sport et Maverick. Bien entendu, elle a été modifiée en conséquence. Mais vous ne trouverez plus de V6 sous le capot de ce Lincoln disponible qu’avec la traction intégrale. Le moteur de base est un « nouveau » quatre cylindres turbocompressé de 2,0 litres qui fait 250 chevaux et 280 li-pi de couple combiné à une boîte automatique à huit rapports. Mon véhicule d’essai était mû par ce même moteur mais combiné à deux moteurs électriques (le premier est l’ensemble moteur-génératrice qui aide à la relance du moteur aux arrêts, le deuxième, de 134 chevaux et 236 li-pi de couple) pour aider à plus de puissance au moteur thermique) dont la puissance totalise 310 chevaux et 295 li-pi. Cette même combinaison est aussi disponible en format PHEV branchable. À ce moment, la boîte de vitesses mécanique est remplacée par une unité à variation continue (CVT). L’ensemble optionnel ajoutait des jantes spéciales de 22 pouces chaussées de pneus Goodyear Eagle Touring surdimensionnés. Sa capacité de remorquage est de 3500 livres.

Sur la route

Quoique le Lincoln Nautilus semble mieux destiné à de longues randonnées, j’ai dû l’utiliser le plus souvent pour des déplacements urbains. Toutefois, j’ai eu l’opportunité de le conduire sur autoroute pendant quelques heures. Résultat?

Ce Lincoln est fort probablement le plus silencieux que j’ai jamais conduit. Question performance, il est capable d’atteindre le cap des 100 km/h départ arrêté en quelque sept secondes (ce qui n’en fait certes pas le plus rapide de son segment mais est-ce vraiment nécessaire ?). Toutefois, ses reprises m’ont paru plus convaincante malgré la boîte CVT. Sa vitesse maximale serait limitée à quelque 200 km/h (ce que je n'ai pas essayé !). Cependant, et j’insiste, le silence de roulement règne dans l’habitacle du Nautilus à un niveau que je n’ai jamais expérimenté. Quant à la boîte CVT et tout le rouage d’entraînement, aucun son n’émet de ces éléments qui, en plus, interagissent avec souplesse. D’ailleurs, on n’entend le moteur que lorsqu’on appuie à fond sur l’accélérateur et même là, le son n’est pas rude ni envahissant.

Question comportement routier, les ingénieurs de Lincoln croient avoir créé un système électronique qui réussit à compenser toutes les variantes du mouvement de l’auto ce que je ne crois pas des plus réussis. Mais, selon le mode de suspension choisi, celle-ci peut être ferme que celle de base (que j’ai trouvée un peu molle). Autrement le comportement général du Nautilus devrait plaire aux amateurs de VUM du genre.

En ce qui a trait à la consommation, mon calcul à la pompe s’est chiffré à 8,31 l./100 km ce qui est remarquable pour un tel véhicule surtout en conditions urbaines. Enfin, pour le prix, sachez que le Lincoln Nautilus affiche un prix de base de 61 900 $ mais que celui dont il est question ici avait plusieurs options coûteuses dont l’équipement du Groupe 203 A (radio AM/FM/HD avec sono Revel Ultima, le toit ouvrant panoramique Vista, le convertisseur électrique à 110 volts, les trois cartouches de fragrance, la conduite autonome BlueCruise, les sièges arrière chauffant, ouverture du hayon arrière sans toucher  et plus) de 12 750 $, la peinture spéciale de 950 $, l’ensemble hybride de 3500 $, l’ensemble décoratif de 3750 $, la taxe d’accise fédérale de 100 $ pour la climatisation, le transport et la préparation de 2395$ et autres ce qui nous amène à 85 345 $. Pas donnée mais en concurrence directe avec les autres véhicules du même segment dont les BMW X5, Genesis GV80, Porsche Cayenne, Volvo XC90 et autres.

Ce nouveau Lincoln est certes plus élaboré que son prédécesseur mais il est surtout plus confortable et surtout silencieux. Sa consommation modérée est notable. Toutefois, si vous décidez de vous en procurer un, assurez-vous d’obtenir un cours complet du vendeur pou d’un technicien pour TOUT comprendre les accessoires et réglages électroniques car les explications au tableau de bord (voire même celles que l’on retrouve sur Internet) ne seront pas suffisantes!

Enfin, mentionnons que Lincoln vient de dévoiler le nouveau grand frère du Nautilus, le Navigator révisé. Selon les premières informations, il serait plus élaboré encore que le Nautilus dont il est question ici. En espérant pouvoir l’essayer lors de son lancement…

Wish is set in Rosas, known as the Kingdom of Wishes, is a fantastical land off the Iberian Peninsula. People travel to the Rosas to give their wishes to the magical king who promises to grant their desires...someday. Chris Buck and Fawn Verrasunthorn are directing from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore. The film features original songs by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice and a score by Dave Metzger.

Locksmith has toured with Joe Budden, Murs, R.A. the Rugged Man, Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks and collaborated with producers 9th Wonder and Ski Beatz. Locksmith has been featured on MTV, BET, Sirius XM's Shade 45, Hot 97's "Who's Next?" concert series and all major hip hop blogs. [23][24][25]

The Black Music Action Coalition Has New Partners & Schedule For Music Business Accelerator Program At Tennessee State University

The Black Music Action Coalition along with Nashville Music Equality, Wasserman Music and the Recording Industry Association of America has kicked off the second annual Maymester Music Accelerator Program at HBCU Tennessee State University. Amazon Music is behind the program which offers Black Tennesse college students help to get into the music industry. The coalition provides mentorship to students and brings in artists and executives to give guest lectures. Primary Wave's BMAC James Brown education fund is the sponsor for this year's program. There are additional sponsors this year who bring music industry expertise to the students. They include:

Oh my goodness last year today the Mercy release listening party was on Sirius XM.

I listened to it and then it was up on the LivePhish app the next morning and that’s when I listened to “hey stranger” and “blazing down the twisted wire” over and over and over again so I could write out the lyrics as they were not up on phishnet and I needed to know all of the lyrics to those two songs. Yeah, that’s my life.

Fun fact about me:

The two times I got “hey stranger” live I made it on the soundboard with my screams of excitement and gratitude. Those shows for the record are 8/20/22 acoustic Trey Anastasio and 11/19/22 with Taboose.
