I understand that a lot of different factors influenced the tonal shift of country music post 9/11 toward strong nationalist and misogynistic themes, but as someone who listens to/actually likes a lot of the music from that era, I’m personally blaming Toby Keith. He’s my Ronald Reagan of 2000s country music.

I feel like at least several times a month, I have a random insane revitalization of my love for The Smiths. Not that I ever stop loving them, but I'll listen to some song and then suddenly fall into this pit of just deep, intense love for their music again where I can't stop listening to their music on repeat and watching live performances and looking at pics like AAAAAHHHHHH WHY IS THEIR MUSIC SO GOOOD?????? WHY IS IT PERFECT?????? WHY WERE THEY SO GENDER???????
(songs I am feeling intense brainrot over rn in case you're curious: "I Want The One I Can't Have(live)", "Stretch Out and Wait(live)", "You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby", "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others(demo)", "What She Said", "The Boy With The Thorn in His Side(live)"(p.s. I Want The One I Can't Have is Martian-coded to me, pls listen)(also it reminds me of that movie I watched yesterday)

[ -- as a song ]
johnny suh as... wachito rico by boy pablo
not much to say, really...this song just feels so johnny.
it's a slow weekend, and johnny has once again found himself hanging at your place for no real reason for the third week in a row. you're playing music, the melodies gently filling your apartment. when you're not looking, johnny queues this song, and when it comes on, his soft hums escalate to singing and he's turning up the volume, pulling you up off of the sofa and playfully singing the lyrics to you (but lowkey he means them).
a/n: this is actually some of the cheesiest sh!t i've put into words but i don't know, it just seemed like that would happen (#delusions). like... imagine the fun and simple joy he would bring to your life... hm maybe i'm just very unwell LOL

Something about how Taylor chose to lead of the folklore set with invisible string despite the fact that it wasn’t a big single or a cult favorite or like a Statement song, presumably picking it instead for emotional reasons just because she loved it and it meant a lot to her (like Marjorie) and it made her happy to sing her sweet little love song, and then after The Event she nope’d the fuck out of that vibe and pivoted to the new shit 😵💫🙃
