my ideas of pokemon teams for the circus crew!

Also, some of these pieces are my actual first serious digital pieces (yeah- I made that pomni one even before artfight in July- it's been rotting in my files for a while)

Anyway, this was super fun, and I also made a team for Caine, and I'll probably render it or something!

Now, more details

I established some rules for myself as I made the teams for each character, and each of them had to have-

- one eeveelution: the idea is, since TADC is based on studying characters and their growth, the best pokemon to show the growth of people evolving in different directions is, of course, eevee!

- a pokemon to represent their appearance: since appearances and avatars are a BIG focus for some characters (Pomni learning about her new form, Zooble struggling with their body, Gangle’s whole deal with her mask, etc etc) it made sense to me that have one pokemon that reflects that in their teams

- one to two pokemon linked to SOMETHING that’s related to the character: for example, the fact that Jax always has keys, or Ragatha’s thing with knives, or Kinger and bugs. This can also come from things we know about the characters, that comes from outside the show: Ragatha liking horses, Gangle being a nerd (hence why she gets not only Mimikyu but also two pikachu clones, that also reflect her deal with her masks).

- a pokemon reflecting their main personality trait: yeah, I know, it’s always frustrating when characters get dumbed down to one trait by the fandom. But TADC offers us characters that are very diverse in their ways of presenting themselves, with unique personalities, that also fit in typical roles we’ve all seen before (the mom friend, the charismatic bully, the grouchy one, etc etc). I feel like this over characterization is meant to OVERLIGHT the fact that theyre MORE than just that main trait. And to give it some attention, I tried giving characters mons that reflected their "typical" character trait: a mischievious Gengar for Jax, a duo of shifting plusle and Minun for Gangle, a confused Spinda for Pomni…

- (optional): something relevant to plot points in the episodes. That’s how Pomni gets her little Sandile from Caine (after Gummigoo explodes-), or how Zooble gets their giant scolipede (inspired by the gloinks and the gloink queen).

And last rules:

- I’m allowed to twist the Pokémon’s designs a little bit

- each character’s fit should reflect a little bit of their main pokemon

- no one gets a legendary, mythical, ultra beast and what not: they’re normal ass humans, they get normal ass pokemon. For example: Caine, on the other, has a total of 0 completely “normal” pokemon! Since he is NOT a random joe!

- have fun!

So yeah! That’s all the rules that led me to my choices! If you wanna take inspiration from those, go ahead, but yeah! I hope that was fun to read all that, you little freak

Murder Drones x TADC designs !!

I recently started watching Murder Drones ( I don’t mind spoilers in tags or in reactions !! :] ) and I thought, hm. I could definitely do something with this and the Digital Circus..

So here they are ! They got lore ✨ and in fact, I do have planned to make multiple ‘pods’ of the gang, three by each. Pomni is here, and Caine is… something that’ll be introduced separately.

So !!!

Here, we have the first pod of the gang, Ragatha, Jax… and supposedly Kaufmo. Pomni is just tagging along !

Originally, I thought about putting the threes in others pods, such as the Kinger-Gangle-Zooble one.

I think it’d be super interesting to have Zooble with those twos ! But Kaufmo fitted more J’s abomination look, shame.

Andddd Zooble is supposedly new in TADC, so it’s doubly interesting to have them sort of be with one of the drones who’s been out there for very long, aka Kinger.

Even if Gangle has possible been here for a bit too ! We don’t know much on her whereabouts for now 😭

Onto the main part.

- Jax hides his disgust for killing other drones under the guise of a relaxed look and snarky comments, a bit like in his original ver. He’s one of the two who tends to first look out for the two pods, but no one notices since he can be a bit… your average disassembling drone but worse.

He loves to pull pranks on his camarades, except they can actually get hurt during those.. never severely though.

- Ragatha usually apologizes when killing working drones,she always tries to say the right thing to appease tensions ! I think she’d be capable of letting herself without the oil they need to survive, just to let the others take them instead of her. They always share, though !

She definitely can kick ass, I’d say she might be one of the strongest of the bunch when it’s physical. Jax and Kinger are more of the brain, Gangle is more of the deceiving kind, and Zooble is just straight up using tactics and her weapons instead of sheer force.

Sadly despite her competences, she tends to try and one shot the murder drones to not hear them scream too much.

- Kaufmo tends to try and make his victims laugh to death, but in the end they usually hurls and try to run off. Not much is known about him from our point of view after his sudden disappearance - although the next time we see him, he’s quite, different ?

- Pomni is assumed to be a worker drone with the AbsoluteSolver in her. But the odd thing is, she has traits from the disassembling drones ! She has claws,some similar looking legs but it’s questioned to be the only thing for now.

Her origin is unknown, but she one day woke up with all her previous memories wiped out.. I’d imagine she slowly uncover her newfound SolverTM powers.. and the downside of it.

Heya, have a question, what is the basic concept of your The Amazing Digital Circus au? and do you have any name ideas yes, if you have the concept, perhaps that would help figure out a name?

Hi thanks for this ask, since this is one thing I've been struggling to pin down, but I do have some ideas, I'll put all the info below a Read More though since it's, a lot of waffling, sorry lol

Okay I imagine the setting to be a sort of mix between modernish day, 1920's and 1830's, yeah huge difference in stuff, like the 1830's would be the society sorta thing, for example, Jax was heavily inspired by Dodger from Oliver Twist and the boys from Newsie's

1920's would be the setting of how the world looks mostly, but also for costuming sort of, not every character follows this rule though, for example Kinger will look abit more modernish.

Modern day would be technology to an extent, tv's from the 90s, trams, maybe cars not sure there, elevators etc.

That's the setting, but I also imagine the theme for the setting to be similarish to Sonic SATAM

The world isnt 100% safe, it isnt 100% hostile, but there is a big bad (whom I imagine might be the company, C&A itself) and our gang are part of the plucky resistance, mostly.

They have to 'live' normal lives, some in the public view such as Ragatha being a seamstress who I imagine is pretty famous for her work, and others who have to live in the shadows, such as Caine (and possibly Zooble? I have some idea's for them but nothing concrete)

The residents in the world are the manaquins, and the NPCs we've seen, the enemies are a mixture of abstractions and these little robotic bugs ala Badniks from Sonic, specifically only bug versions, for reasons.

Basically I just wanted to draw a world where folks got to have giant weapons of unusual items, Ragatha with her giant needle rapier, Jax with his giant wrench for example, but the rest of hte stuff I've explained all begin popping up in my head, here's what I know of the other cast members.

Jax: a street urchin, but he has a one room place he lives initially, he works as a mechanic, but mostly pick pockets and steals from richer folks cause that's easier. He's good at fixing other things, but when he tries to build things they only have a 15% success rate of not exploding or back firing. And only a 3% chance of them surviving fully operational how intended.

Ragatha: A semi-famous seamstress, she isn't super famous so her name isn't well known, but she has made outfits for the likes of Princess Loo. So she has some connections to the upper class. As for her vigilante role, she can fight with the best of them, but doesn't want the notoriety to affect her day to day so she has the disguise, which works surprisingly well; in the Sailor Moon sense lol. She fights to defend innocents from the Abstractions, injust and the bugs.

Now for the ones i've not drawn yet.

Kinger: Kinger is so adorable, but he's still got a few screws loose cause it wouldn't be him fully yknow? But ok his design would be the same except for the robe, instead of a robe he would have a fuzzy scarf made by his (late?) wife Queenie and a lab coat, because he's the inventor of the robot bugs, yes, he works with C&A BUT he thinks he's working with the good guys, he made the bugs to defend innocent folks from evil, not realising that meant they were protecting C&A, the abstractions and stuff such as that. Why's he working with C&A otherwise? Well I imagine that's due to Queenie, she was abstracting, but Kinger prevented her from fully abstracting putting her in like stasis, so she's asleep, C&A found out about this an offered to heal her if Kinger helped them protect the world from those with ill intent. So he has no clue they're the reason for the abstractions and everything.

Caine: I imagine Caine is the de-facto 'leader' of the resistance, trying to find the cast members to bring them all together to help fight C&A, so far he's only found 2, Zooble and Gangle, he usually tries to stay hidden since C&A would really like to get their grubby mitts back on their 'ring master'

Zooble: They're interesting, but very obvioiusly a cast member, due to their unfortunate circumstance of their body being a big give away; they were the first Caine found, so they both 'work from the shadows' but Zooble with more 'humanish' body parts can somewhat pass without raising much suspicion, unsure what their weapon will be yet, BUT they are very very close to another cast member, the next one infact.

Gangle: She i imagine is a news reporter, not the kind where they go and get the news, just the writer and cartoonist. BUT that doesn't stop her from doing her own journalist investigation in her off times that doesn't involve her drawing and visiting art galleries. I imagine she sort of has a vigilante self too, but less The Mask of Zorro and more Sailor Moon, but dont know what her weapon is yet either.

Bubble: I imagine bubble is very very susceptible to being corrupted and taken over by C&A so like Caine and Zooble, Bubble stay's hidden, and is more like a guard dog, letting the gang know when any unwanted attention is lurking near. They're still weird and cheeky but also a bit more timid in general.

And finally, Pomni: The newest member to the resistance, and the freshest face in this 'world' so she has the most potentional to blend in, she's the one that will stumble upon Jax and Ragatha when out one day, so it's trying to convince them to join the resistence, I imagine she has a big weapon too but still thinking about what that could be.

NOW after all of that, I have one more new idea, this is still the digital world, so headsets an such still apply, but the Abstractions happen the same, folks loosing themselves, sometimes forced too by C&A because they're trying to make more realistic NPCs, unimpressed by Caine's NPCs they began well, torturing other players til they lost themselves, so C&A could 'reprogram them' into NPCs, some were successful, like Gummigoo and Princess Loo, but most were not, Abstractions, Queenie.

I imagine the cast are aware this world doesnt feel right, but not sure what it is. Some have more idea that this world is just 'another adventure' such as Zooble and Caine (and bubble) others have some idea's like Gangle and Jax, they're like 75% sure this world seem's...not right. Ragatha and Pomni are around 50% like normal folks, is this real? nah it isnt, is it? It feels and seem's real. Kaufmo (I have NO clue for this fellow) and Kinger (Current) are fully immersed, Queenie and (old) Kinger were pretty sure this world wasn't all it seemed too.

Jax and Ragatha though at some point I can see joining forces, making their own 'resistance' unaware of the other cast til Pomni happens upon them.

And yeah that's...Pretty much all I have, it's a lot but at the same time it's not much, yknow?

Oh, but this gif makes me think of Zooble and Gangle (and alil of Ragatha and Jax when they join the resistance)

Since I've seen practically nobody make content on kind jax, I'm going to make a semi-Swap AU featuring him right meow(using his design here by this excellent artist as reference).

Let's rethink the show with the Swap AU in Mind:

Characters:

Jaxxy: Like Ragatha in the main canon, Jax is a kind sweetheart with a sort of feminine energy to him, always putting a kind foot forward to be compassionate and Considerate of the others in Circus Cast. He is often compliant with Caine the most. playing along with the adventures, as per his strongly agreeable nature. He's closest to Pomni and Dangle, softly admiring her gentle and Empathetic nature, always coming to her rescue as a sort of a group dad/older brother type, trying to keep the peace in a very diplomatic and gentle way, often to Ragsy's chagrin(detesting Jaxxy and his softer ways, sometimes calling him "Not A Man." Jaxxy often retorts in a sort of sassy way that "He's a bunny, Honey~ *snap, snap*")

Pomni: As a Jester Boy new to the circus, Pomni, unlike the main canon, is more confident and friendly. She is quick to see how she could help everyone, and becomes fast friends with everybody, except Ragsy, whom slowly warms up to her. Pomni is a kindhearted friend, always helping out and doing what she can. In this circus, she learns to let go of Gummigoo quickly, realizing the other cast members are the realest people, as opposed to kind npcs. This prompts Pomni to push for a strong friendship with Ragsy, which is impossible at first, but overtime, wins Ragsy over, and they bond very closely to each other.

Ragsy: Instead of being kind and nice like on the main Canon, Ragsy is kinda grumbly and secretive, as well as a sly prankster, liking to play tricks on everyone. This often puts her at odds with Jaxxy, who aims to smooth over every bad situation, to which Ragsy scoffs at with a semi-indifferent attitude about her presence in the circus, becoming embittered and finding joy only in other people's pain, much to Jaxxy's annoyance. Ragsy isn't close to anyone in the circus, isolating herself from the rest of the group at first, as she has done that since day 1 of entering the circus. She later redeems herself through being given a second chance via Pomni after everyone gangs up on her and calls her out on her toxic behavior. Pomni helps Ragsy to realize that it's better to get along and hug it out, instead of provoking people all the time, prompting Ragsy to experience character growth where she apologizes to everyone and becomes a warm, and empathetic character, strongly resembling who she is in the main canon, with the exception of her tomboy fashion of wearing a t-shirt under blue overalls instead of wearing a dress(but she still has her bow in her hair).

Dangle: Unlike Gangle, being shy and turbulent in the main canon, Dangle is instead more exuberant and assertive, as well as flexible. He has plastic unbreakable masks for every day he doesn't need, but wants to wear anyways, as he is super theatrical and silly. His favorite mask was a japanese kitsune (fox) mask, a close second was his anime persona mask, which had huge colorful 90s styled anime eyes, which also gave him a cuter japanese voice and dubbing for some odd reason. He loved talking about some of his favorite animes, he was a big fan of fox girls in particular, finding their tails and ears to be cool, often styling his ribbon body to have ears and a tail as well, always on the lookout for more ribbons to add to his body, as he also had a bunch of different colored ribbons on different parts of his body on top of the usual red, sporting Blonde hair above his mask over his red head which was thicker with knotted red ribbons to make him more endurant and tough. He also had blue pants made of blue ribbon and a green shirt with a graphic design he stitched by hand out of multiple colors and ribbons, depicting one of his favorite anime characters, Fufu-Chan(A Cute Fennec Fox girl with big fluffy ears, from Kitsune no Yume/狐 の 夢 (Disclaimer: Not A Real Anime, don't look it up, lol). He's always looking up with joy, bringing out the positive side of Queenzie. Dangle, while occasionally picked on by Ragatha, knows how to scare Ragsy back as he sometimes keeps a centipede housed between his masks as a safeguard to surprise her(Ragsy before apologizing to everyone, didn't like Dangle and kept her distance from him, as she hated bugs, especially centipedes). Dangle collects bugs, also leaving a bunch of jars of bugs in his room he collects from different adventures, from roaches, to ants, to beetles, to other bugs, so Ragatha wouldn't come in his room (especially if she saw his favorite pet Tarantuala, a hairy fellow named Neil), all as a way to keep her out. Dangle also has a strong friendship with Queenzie, who's super into Bugs, often going searching for bugs with Dangle, as it helps her remember Kingo, her abstracted husband.

Queenzee: Unlike being crazy and warm in the main canon, Kinger has his head fully screwed on as a woman and is smart but hotheaded. Her husband, Kingo, the black king chess piece, was big into Bugs, and was a huge softie loved by everyone. Queenzee, on the other hand, has an aggressive flair, easily enraged by Ragsy's antics, which would often lead to her competing/fighting Ragsy on adventures, often challenging her in a very arrogant and self-inposing kind of way, with a bossy regal energy like the red queen from Alice in Wonderland. Dangle often helped her in such scaenarios (secretly having a crush on her, but feels unable to tell her his feelings because of how much she still mourns Kingo as a widow, as well as out of fear of her temper, which was quite scornful). After Ragsy makes up with Queenzie later in the series, they bond and form a loving relationship, putting aside their differences, as they both admired each other's wit and agility.

Zooble: Unlike her Grumpy and Sarcastic character in the main Canon, Zooble is affable and mild, embodying the quieter persona she tries and fails to emulate in the main canon. Zooble has no body issues, easily accepting himself and all of her many opportunities to arrange his body parts any sorts of ways she liked. Somewhat of a playful Wild Card, some days Zooble will surprise everyone as a way to be a humorous comedian, sometimes going on adventures with only one leg just to make someone laugh, or no arms, or sometimes, he'll just let Dangle carry her head anywhere, as he's secretly is in love with Dangle, finding him to be a real cute sweetheart, especially when he makes his :3 face. Dangle isn't aware of this, but later on, he learns of his/her feelings, and they end up together, Queenzie openly supporting their relationship due to loving both of them.

(( hey hey, thanks for tagging me! this was definitely difficult, since there's a lot of women in different media that i love, but these were the first that came to mind! ))

Daisy and Rosalina ( Super Mario series ) (( i figured since they're from the same series, it's only fitting that they'd share a spot. daisy is and will forever be my main in the spin offs, because her brash and unapologetic, energetic personality was absolutely endearing to me. the way she's so expressive even without much dialogue was what caught my interest, and how proudly she wears being a tomboy on her sleeve, while also being a princess. ))

(( rosalina, on the other hand, may or may not have been mun's first crush when they were a wee baby. her reserved, but soothing demeanor definitely stood out amongst a cast known for being more emotive. plus, her kindness and maternal attitude towards the lumas, even going so far as to sacrifice herself to cursa in the rabbids game... and her VOICE?? bestill my weak sapphic heart... But her backstory too, the way that it fuels her actions and her resolve, even if she's more quiet is just so. chef's kiss ))

2. Eve ( No Straight Roads ) (( this is mun telling you to go play no straight roads RIGHT NOW!!! it's SO GOOD. and eve. oh my god, it's unreal that it's been 5 years since the game came out, and she's still stuck in my mind. the way that being a music artist to her is about coming to terms with her identity, with her place in the world and trying desperately to find other people to connect with, in spite of her hatred for herself and her envy towards them. the way she latches onto zuke, only to end up hurting him in the end and not understanding why. and then in the end, learning that the only one who can complete eve, is eve herself. also... devs said she's demisexual SO WE WIN!!! such a fascinating character and the boss whose track i have listened to the most from the OST ))

3. Kobeni Higashiyama ( Chainsaw Man ) (( ohhh my god. okay. honestly i do not watch enough anime/read enough manga as it is, but i'm so glad i decided to give chainsaw man a chance. like all of the women in chainsaw man are well-written and compelling, but i think kobeni resonated with me the most, because i can definitely relate to/understand her struggles with her family. the way she can go from screaming her lungs out to shy but eager, to remorseful and tired, the whole range is just so lovely. she's arguably the most "normal" of the cast, and even then, she's extraordinarily resilient. i still watch that one fight scene with her constantly. and the scene in the manga where she says life is about having those bad days alongside the good ones? OOOH. not to mention... getting a cameo from her english dub VA still has me on cloud NINE. i love her so bad <3 ))

4. Pomni ( The Amazing Digital Circus ) (( this is a really funny one to put after kobeni BUT LIKE. in all seriousness, i love pomni so bad. the way she is both so anxious and yet so pragmatic in spite of how alien this entire world is to her. the way she can be so blunt and lose her temper at times feels so human, and it's so understandable given how torn she is between leaving the circus and actually staying to connect with the people there. and SPEAKING of connection, the way she still has that kindness to her, in spite of her reservations about everything, with how she's approached gummigoo, her listening to kinger and respecting him more even after the Horrors of the manor, and how that small act of kindness she offers gangle is all she needs to earn a spot in that friendship circle. she's so well-done, and i cannot wait to see how she evolves from here, especially with the show's themes about existentialism. ))

5. Megurine Luka ( Vocaloid/Project Sekai ) (( ANOTHER ONE of baby's first woman crushes before they knew what gay people were. honestly she's been my favorite vocaloid ever since i saw her design and heard her voice, and the way that she was able to surpass hatsune miku herself? the way she challenged that status quo, how that sort of rivalry with miku evolved into the two of them singing one of the most iconic sapphic vocaloid songs ever? "magnet" my beloved... her older, yet gentle voice... "double lariat", "luka luka night fever", "just be friends", "palette", "black gold", "blackjack", "lie", and my god. my GOD EVEN her cover of "thousand year solo" or that "suki kirai" cover she has with miku. i love her so bad, and i love her more mysterious yet prideful personality that she's usually depicted with. ))

6. Amy Rose ( Sonic The Hedgehog Series ) (( yet another from when i was young, and one that i hold a lot of fond memories of. i still remember watching through her entire gameplay route in the first sonic adventure, or watching through her story in sonic battle when i was little. the way she's so unbashedly feminine, yet that doesn't take away from her importance to the story nor diminish her character. she's like the embodiment of love, how passionate it is, how it can lead to rage if scorned, and how it can save people the way it does in sonic adventure 2. hell, even in sonic frontiers, where she decides that she wants to share that love with more people, even if it takes her far away from sonic. the way she never gives up, even if she doesn't have the kinds of powers that sonic, shadow, knuckles, or even tails do. she's a gal with a big heart! and she's not gonna let steer her off course. LOVE this girlie ))

7. Mukuro Ikusaba ( Danganronpa Series ) (( ALRIGHT LISTEN. before you look at me funny. do i like the way she's depicted in titles like danganronpa zero and especially danganronpa 3? absolutely not, they make me uncomfortable. do i still think she's an amazing character when done and explored well, which was beautifully demonstrated by danganronpa IF? yeah, absolutely! to me, ikusaba is a starving wolf who latches on to anyone who shows her any ounce of attention/affection, devoting herself completely to them to feel like she has any worth. you see the two different paths this can lead her down, whether it be the canon route where she's unable to escape enoshima's shadow, or the IF route where she begins to look for a new path for herself, thanks to naegi's influence. it's the way she doesn't really feel passionately about hope or despair, but she ends up being drawn to hope anyway, because it's the path that allows her to actually consider what she wants for a change. where ikusaba gets to connect with people who consider her a friend, and not a tool above all else. ( man. the similarities between her and pekoyama that could've been explored AAAHGH ) this isn't to say enoshima didn't care about her, but only when the ties between her and ikusaba are severed does ikusaba finally begin to live life like it's hers. also she's fucking cool as hell. i love those moments where you can tell she's got a bit of pride in her skills as a soldier, or her softer, more caring side around naegi and her sister. also shiropro collab THANK YOU for giving us new art of her ))

8. Marina Ida/Agitando ( Splatoon series ) (( GODS. where do i even start. it's her design, it's her amazing voice, it's her bond with pearl and how affectionate she is with her both on and off the air. the way she still thinks fondly of her peers and her boss back in the underground army. the way she is EXTREMELY tech savvy yet is also canonically a sucker for sapphic shoujo manga. everything to do with her involvement in side order. the little innuendos. the way she gets so passionate about machinery and how excited she is when she's with pearl. THE DIARIES FROM SIDE ORDER. GO PLAY/WATCH SIDE ORDER. love this silly octopus woman ))

9. Monika ( Doki Doki Literature Club ) (( it has been almost 8 years of constantly rotating this game in the back of my mind, and ESPECIALLY thinking about monika. i love all of the dokis for different reasons, but when i think of doki doki literature club, i know for a fact it would not be as successful in the way it tells its story ( both the main one and side stories from plus ) without monika. the way she struggles with her epiphany, latching onto the closest thing to reality while wrestling with her conflicting feelings about her world and the other girls. the way she cares about them yet feels so disconnected from them. even her official twitter where she posts those images of everyone hanging out together. it's absolutely bittersweet, and "your reality" is still such a gem of a song that ties everything together. monika you will always be famous <3 ))
