Post 4 fictional characters you relate to and assume something about the previous person based on their characters [ Original ]
Thank you @nightjasmine10 for the tag! This one sounds like quite an interesting one

Eris Sinbad
Alastor Hazbin Hotel (Pilot)
Snufkin Moomin (1990 TV series)
Fluttershy My little pony: Friendship is magic
And the gifs are quite fitting too, especially the Alastor one, when it comes to the story, what we have in mind, can't help but let a smile spread from time to time. Heh Eris is more the author in me.

Thank you again @nightjasmine10! This was a fun surprise
Here's my little analysis based on your characters Hope it's somewhat fitting as I didn't know most of them
.·Ë⧠Koenma (Yu Yu Hakusho) â§Ë·. You have a level head, making sure that things goes as planned, helping. You like to focus on what you enjoy, and not too much on what's outside of that. Plus, you're loyal to those you care about, always wanting the best for them.
-
.·Ë⧠Peri Fairywinkle Cosma (Fairly OddParents: A New Wish) â§Ë·. Likes to add some flare to what you do. Fearful of failure and always seeking to do good. Maybe also a sprinkle of, wanting to give others a nice impression of who you are out of fear of how they might perceive you if you don't.
-
.·Ë⧠Chandler Bing (Friends) â§Ë·. You're a fun one who enjoys making others laugh. It's better to bring others up with joy than down with any sorrow you may feel. Hiding behind a smile because you've learned that others just like to see the sunshine you may spread, instead of any hurt that may be in your head. Still, all in all, you're a good person.
-
.·Ë⧠Monica Geller (Friends) â§Ë·. You're indeed one that likes to keep the peace. Making sure all is well, maybe even at the expense of yourself at times. You don't think yourself bad, but you sometimes have a hard time seeing all the wonder you give.
-
You know yourself well enough to keep yourself up. You know what your ideal life may be, but you can still find joy in what you have currently. Still, there are many things that could be better, but hey could be worse too, right?
In essence, you're a good person Pretty like a flower

Hope I didn't overdo it Or maybe I did and it brings you glee Well, the important part is you being happy!

As for people to tag, always so unsure, but there are always lovely people to bring some brightness to!
@waitineedaname, You're a lovely one who's analysis is always fun, plus, it would be fun to see who you may related too (feeling one of them might be a librarian, though, guess that depends)
@shrimpyjackal, LOOK! Can you see me? Do you find the characters fit? Always so fun to hear from you, always a joy in seeing what you do, so it would also be fun to know which characters you relate to too á”á”á”
@stitchwraith-stingers, You're a fun one, so it may be fun to see, who are the four that call to out to you? And why does it feel like not all of them are human too? Whatever it may, hope you have a wonderful day. Ups and downs are sure to come, but save the fun, enjoy what you can.
@wreckrinho, The cool cat that is you, do oh so wonder, who do you relate too? What characters make you feel more at home, for not all is lonely. You don't have to be alone. For you are one who deserves to be seen and happy, with joy to fill what's in-between!
@freesso, Sweet and fun, happy one. Hope all is well, do you want to play? It's odd, I have a vision of silver shimmering white, no idea who that could be, right? Regardless of choice, hope you are having fun in whatever you working on getting done á”á”á”
@midnightdemonz, You're a fun one, wanna join in the game? Whatever you choose, I hope the day will give you much joy to gain, much fun to be had and do hope that things are good, not bad. For a lovely fun one, just like you, deserves much joy, it's true!
@vhs-consumer, Fun fantastic! Hope you're good and the world is kind, bringing you lively things to mind. Hope there is fun to be had in your day, hope you are doing okay á”á”á”
@poggieking03, Hope all is well, and the day brings you glee, just like you have so many times brought me! Would be fun to see what you may say, and who are the ones that best match your days. Surely someone cool and full of spark, for you are always a bright spot in the dark.
@paaelle, A fun one to see, you come and you go, hope you're day is bright and enjoy all that you know. You may join if you like, but most of all, I want to tell, that I appreciate you as well!
And for clarity, no pressure of course!
Most of all, I just want to wish you all well For you are all so sweet and swell! So very wonderful, just wanted to tell á”á”á”
Also, if anyone else would like to join in, then that would very much bring glee Fun people are always fun to see, trust me
#Manâ it was so long ago since I got into Higurashiâ want to add Rikaâ but I can't remember enough to fully asses how fitting it would be#Alsoâ I'm starting to think I might have a problem with perfectionism#hmm...#Whelp! I'm sure it's fine!#I just like things to be pretty#And you're all so very pretty indeed#On another note#I find it really funny#Likeâ these characters#Is there any connecting tissue?#Likeâ some have similaritiesâ of courseâ but all of them?#hehâ that's pretty fun right?

Sinbad (Magi) and his divorced wife (modern au please, or if you don't feel comfortable with that, you can do it in the regular world)
Reader divorced him because of how he viewed things and how close he would get with other women, she's kinda gay
And Sinbad is kind of sad because of the fact that the only woman he truly loved wants nothing to do with him.
Even add a gremlin, a kid to the mix if it entertains you!!
Pls đ
You don't have to if you don't want too!!
Sinbad x ex-wife!reader
Cw: fem reader, written in second person, english isn't my first language, you have an adopted kid, disloyalty from him, idk.
A/n: thank you for requesting and im so sorry for taking so long to do your request, writer's block be hitting harder lately. Hope you enjoy it mwah!!
How many times had he entertained the young women who threw themselves at him in the middle of your dates, right in front of your eyes?
.
Never could you say anything about it as its not like he was really cheating on you, he was "just playing" as he loved to say. It drove you insane.
.
In addition to his borderline unfaithfulness, there was also his questionable morals and the things he did to get what he wanted. All of it always rubbed you the wrong way but you fought to love him anyway.
.
But as we all know, ine can only fight for so long.
.
All of it kept adding up and and you found yourself bothe sat at the kitchen table. You slide him a paper - a divorce settlement document.
.
He tried to give you excuses and promised he would change but you were set, there's no way you'd lock yourself in a toxic cycle of wrong-doing, excises, and forgivness forever.
.
After the divorce,
You went on with your life like nothing happend
Of course it still stung to part from the man you loved oh so much but you had to move on.
.
Weeks pass and he isn't the same anymore. He went out to different bars and surrounded himself with ladies, reminding himself that he didn't need you.
.
What a conman.
.
He desperately needed you. Being a man of his position there wasn't many he could trust, somehow he opened up to you and gave you his heart. He knew how precious your love was to him yet he ruined it - entirely by himself. He'll never experience somehing like this again.
.
Guilt hollowing him as he grieves the missing part of him and as he thinks of the sadness he caused you. He'd become a waste.
.
Fast forward, you grew as a person and became successful, no longer the women you used to be.
Things kept getting better and better for you as if taking the weed out of your life made place for a rich and flowery garden to bloom effervescently.
.
You could finally breath.
.
Long after, you adopted a gremlin a kid!
You gave them the ever best life they deserved and enjoy life as a successful mother and child. Life simply couldn't get better.
.
Then he saw you.
.
Then you saw him.
.
He couldn't belive it's, the then live of his life standing right in front of him after years of no contact.
.
"H-hi..." He uttered, trying his best to make himself sound more confident - it failed.
.
"Hello" you replied coldly.
.
A long awkward silence took over when you decide to walk away before he starts to question about your life or worst - enter it again.
.
"I should go" you sai as you walk past him but barely a couple step away and he grips your wrist.
.
Tho he was strong, his hold on you was gentle, almost pleading.
.
"Please wait? Can we talk?" He asks trying his best to think of ways to have you remain by him even for a little longer.
.
"What is there to talk about sinbad? We're over"
You say curtly, not wanting to go weak and give in to him in the way is face begged you to.
.
He notices the young child beside and questions flooded his mind. 'A child? Was it hers? Ours? Hasd she found someone new? How much of their lives have i missed?' Then guilt came back stronger than ever, not being made easy but the way the kid clutched on your trousers.
.
"Mom, who's that?" They ask innocently.
.
"An old friend, dear" you smile at your child lovingly.
.
An old friend, those words rung in his head like hell bells.
.
He let go of your wrist and she walked away.
.
You sufferd through him, why shouldn't he? Regardless of how he feels you have more to care about.
.
He'll find a way to heal, you wish him that much. But for now the only thoughts in your head is what you're going to do today to make this day unforgettable for your child and yourself.

Okay!! Done with The Count of Monte Cristo. That was a ride. I did not enjoy the ending in itself much. The final chapter felt a bit disjointed and while I can understand Edmond was trying to teach Morrel and Valentine a lesson that's more important than any treasure, I think keeping them apart was unnecessarily convoluted and, frankly, cruel, especially keeping Valentine in the dark about her family's demise.
That being said, compared to the 2024 movie, which was my gateway into the book (spoilers for the movie ahead):
I still think it was very well adapted and I generally enjoy the changes made.
In particular, Benedetto/Cavalcanti's storyline in the movie works wonderfully and his relationship to both Eugénie and Haydée was cute. I do prefer this Cavalcanti over book!Cavalcanti because he feels more rounded. However, the movie cannot top Villefort's demise in the book. It's extremely good and heart wrenching.
The movie utilizes Albert and Haydée in the end in a vaguely similar way to Morrels and Valentine in the book, which was appreciated. They close the circle their literal or adoptive parents started and Edmond sails off on his own and I think there's a lot of beauty in that too.
I disagree that the changes made to HaydĂ©e's character in the movie reinforce the orientalism. The movie did not even try suppressing (or addressing) the orientalism, I do agree with that, and believe things could have been handled better. But HaydĂ©e's seduction game is entirely premeditated. She's not alluring as a walking oriental femme fatale, she is rather explicitly made to look that way. She and the count play with that as part of the trap they are laying for Albert. This mirrors Cavalcanti's trap too. It is similar to the way "Sinbad the Sailor" metaphorically seduces Franz d'Ăpinay in the book when they first met. I'm not saying it was perfect though. I'd say the orientalism in regards to Haydee has more to do with casting choices, costumes and treatment of her background than with the narrative use made of her in the movie. Sorry, but revenge-seeking willing to seduce her way to her goals movie!HaydĂ©e that still has a filialish role to the Count is definitely more appealing to me than submissive (literally a slave), love-sick book!HaydĂ©e who most of the time only waits and pines. She does testify against Fernando on her own accord and free will and shows an absolutely amazing strength and I love book!HaydĂ©e for that but it's not often that she gets to shine like she deserves.
Making Edmond and Fernando childhood friends is actually good, I loved that! But making the Mondegos an already affluent and well positioned family by the beginning and making Mercedes/Edmond lowkey forbidden because of class difference was not so good. One of the most interesting things in the book is getting to see just how much their status improves -with Edmond being the price to pay.
The movie does go much easier on Mercedes, WHICH SHE DESERVES. The aspect of her being "unfaithful" is moderately prominent in Edmond's discourse in the book, even if Edmond tells her to her face she's a saint. Given her ending, I think the book narratively does punish her for that so-called infidelity which I personally believe to be absolutely unfair but. 19th century right.
Other book things I prefer over the movie: Fernando's ending. The final battle was super fun to watch but sorry. Fernando offing himself because his family left him adds a whole other layer of tragedy and gives him a sort of redeeming quality (even if in the book they don't really put it this way). In the movie he has no redeeming quality lol
Also. I get why Noirtier was not much there. Same happens with the Morrels and Valentine. But Noirtier is one of the characters from the book that fascinate me the most so I'll miss him
#laura reads#the count of monte cristo#what. a. ride. some parts were ok and a few were even a bit dull or felt overlong (seriously too many poisonings) but the good moments#were GREAT and the overall arc ties very well together and of course it's very long so a lot of tkme to breathe#tbh it was like reading/listening to a telenovela#dumas. had you been born like 150 years later... he'd be making either prestige tv or longest melodramas you can think of but#any of them would blow your mind away. that man was born to be a movie director how can i make this point better understood#also. book edmond was comparatively softer on fcking DANGLARS than on Mercedes. like I don't think he meant to but he's always quoting her#infidelity like dude. I'm not saying this to be mean but FOURTEEN YEARS AWAY edmond with no news that you were even alive!!! be serious

Boom Blows
One of the first bits I wrote on the server for the Knucklesverse. Something something the other Knuckleses are concerned by how they observe Boom's friends treating him and try to talk to him about it.
It doesn't go well.
All drawings are by the fantastically wonderful @quazart
~~ Qwerty
~~~
"They're really not that bad, guys."
Boom tried to shrug it off. Tried to let it go. Sure, his friends could be kinda dismissive. Sure, they could ignore anything he says. But honestly, he's kind of a moron on his world. Why wouldn't they? But deep down, he knows they care. He's sure of it.
Dread shook his head with a sigh. "Lad, those so-called 'friends' of yers treat ye like ye're beneath them. I've seen it with me own eyes. They be treatin' ye worse than trash."
"That's not true. They hang out with me all the time! We just goof off, that's all."
Boom's voice wasn't as strong that time. Wasn't as sure.
"As much as I hate, and I mean really hate agreeing with this guy," Renegade said, stepping forward and hooking at thumb at Dread. "He's right. With friends like those, who needs enemies."
"Are you sure they care about you?" Wachowski crossed his arms. "I have been fooled in the past by someone I thought was my friend, only to have him trick me and leave me for dead when it suited him. Perhaps that is what's going on here."
Boom turned away with a dismissive wave of his hand. "That's not what's going on. I've known them for years. Tails taught me how to ride a bike! Or tried to, anyway. They would've tricked me by now, right?"
His brow twitched. A seed of doubt had been planted. But he was sure, positive that his friends were truly his friends. They wouldn't trick him.
Right?
"Are ye sure, lad?" Dread asked, stepping forward. "Are ye really sure?"
"They are disrespectful," Gawain said, shaking his head. "They do not hold you in the same regard they hold each other."
Boom turned away, trying to avoid the eyes of the others. The same eyes as his, but now looked at him with pity. With sadness.
"That's not true." The tone of his voice changed. No longer light. No longer joking. He didn't want to talk about this anymore.
"Do any of them seem to care that you have no home?" Sinbad asked, crossing his arms. "Do any of them make sure you're all right when it's cold? Or raining?"
"I like being a nomad. I can take care of myself."
Something was flickering inside him. Something foreign, but strong. He'd felt something similar to this a few times, mostly when Eggman was being a real pain, but never this much. It was something he wasn't overly familiar with, but it felt like a hot snake in his belly.
"Ye deserve more than what they give ye," Dread said, his muzzle pulled into a scowl. "They don't see ye as we do. Ye're just a punching bag to them. Something t' make themselves feel better by abusin'. Ye deserve better."
That snake in Boom's belly was moving, writhing in a way he'd never felt before. It rose into his chest, and suddenly he was . . . angry. The most angry he'd ever felt in his life.
How dare they. How dare these people he thought were his family, his tribe say these things about his friends. Sure, they weren't perfect, no one was, but they were there for him. They did care about him. They did.
Boom turned, his muzzle pulled into a fierce snarl, his teeth bared. He was tense, quills bristling and every muscle thrumming with strength and power, and he clenched his fists as he stared at the other echidna. Glared at them. The fire in his chest was in his eyes now, and he was the epitome of absolute fury.
"You don't know what you're talking about!" he shouted, and Little Z, who'd been hovering nearby as he always did, scuttled off to hide behind the twins. "Those are my friends! They've been by my side for as long as I can remember! They help me and I help them, because that's what friends do!"
A collective gasp moved through the group at Boom's sudden change. No one had ever seen him angry. They tensed at his fury, at the fact that it was directed at them.
"What do you all know about friends anyway?" he sneered, looking over the other echidna one-by-one. He shot daggers at Dread. "You double cross anyone who gets in your way." He flicked his gaze to Modern and X. "All you care about is watching over that rock on your floating islands." Turned to Wachowski. "You were the most dangerous warrior in the galaxy. So what right do any of you have to tell me that my friends aren't good enough?"
"Yes, I was the most dangerous warrior in the galaxy," Wachowski said, stepping forward. "But that was the past. I have a family now. And Iâ"
"I DON'T HAVE THAT!" Boom thundered, his voice echoing over the group. "I never had anyone! My friends are my family! And hearing you talk bad about them hurts me!"
Silence settled over the group then, and Boom took a few steps forward. The twins took defensive positions in front of Little Z, while Dread and Renegade moved to block Gnarly. Sinbad and Gawain moved closer, their hands hovering over the hilts of their swords.
Wachowski stepped in front of Boom, his hand out in front of him, palm out.
"Be calm, my friend. We are not your enemy."
Boom stopped, breathing hard and snarling at each Knuckles in turn. A soft growl pushed out of his throat.
"No. You're not my enemy. But you're not my friends, either. You're not my tribe."
Without another word, the large echidna turned and left the Sanctuary, leaving a bunch of very confused, very shocked Knuckles behind.
~X~X~X~
Boom stormed back into the village, the anger within him still churning.
How dare they. How dare they. They were supposed to be his tribe. His family. They were all him for crying out loud, how could they gang up on him like that and act like his friends were treating him like garbage?
Well, sure, Sonic and others sometimes disregarded him. But it was okay, they didn't mean anything by it. And yeah, they sometimes said kinda mean things. But he usually got them back with an equally snide comment. Sometimes.
He grunted as he stalked past Meh Burger. Those stupid echidna. They put ideas in his head. Doubts. The anger swirled in his chest, and now he didn't know what to think.
"Hey, Knux!" Sonic called from their usual table. "How was your visit to Knuckles-land?"
Boom didn't stop. Didn't look up. He wasn't in the mood for Sonic's sarcasm right now.
âUh oh,â the hedgehog snickered. âTrouble in echidna paradise, I see.â
That made Boom stop. He turned and pegged Sonic with a sharp look, his eyes still full of that fire from before. He was angry, he was furious and he didnât know how to get rid of this feeling before it leapt off his tongue.
âNot cool, Sonic!â he bellowed, and everyone at Meh Burger stopped to stare at him. He didnât care. He was the town idiot anyway. They couldnât exactly think less of him, could they? âIâm always a joke to you, right? Everythingâs always so funny because Iâm so stupid, right?â
Sonic looked at him with a shocked expression. âHey, I was just kidding with ya Knux, ease off.â
Boom pulled his lips tight. He wanted to say more, to let loose this feeling inside him, cast out this anger at those who may or may not be making fun of him.
But the doubt in his heart grew. These were his friends. (Right?) They joked with him because they loved him. (Right?)
Without another word, Boom turned and stormed off. He needed to blow off steam, and the best way to do so is physical exertion.
He was going to go bust some boulders at the quarry until this horrible, hot feeling in his chest went away.
~X~X~X~
Meanwhile, back at the Sanctuary, the other Knuckleses were starting to unravel.
âThis is your fault, Dread!â Renegade growled, pointing at the pirate. âIf you hadnât brought up that stuff about his friends, he wouldnât oâ blown his stack like that.â
Dread sneered at Renegade, his lip curled to reveal his gold tooth. âI called it like I seen it, bucko. I didnât know he would react like that! Iâm going after him.â
Gawain and Sinbad moved as one to block Dreadâs path.
âI think that would be a very bad idea,â the knight said, his arms crossed. âYouâve done enough. Youâre staying put.â
Dread narrowed his eyes. âAre ye threatening me?â
âNot yet,â Sinbad said, hand on his sword hilt. âBut the dayâs still young.â
The pirate pulled his lip into a fierce snarl, a growl slipping through his throat. Renegade gave him a shove. âKnock it off. Do you really think Boomâs gonna wanna see you right now?â
âHe be me best friend out of all oâ ye. I will not let him think the worst of us.â He paused. âOf me, anyway.â
âNot happeninâ. Youâre stayinâ.â
As the group quarreled, X moved closer to Boomâs portal. Little Z and Gnarly noticed him, and moved quickly to intercept.
âYouâre going after him.â It wasnât a question, and Gnarly glanced over his shoulder at the others. âIâm coming, too.â
âMe, too,â Little Z said, sliding up next to Gnarly. He rubbed shoulders with the slightly taller echidna. The little zombie liked that warmth and comfort from physical touch.
âI donât know how receptive Boom will be,â X said, keeping his eyes on the others. âBut I figure I may have a better chance at getting through to him. I know how he feels.â
âThen letâs go before they notice,â Gnarly said, letting Little Z climb onto his back. Dread was still putting up a fight, so now was as good a time as any to slip out without notice.
With a silent nod, X, Little Z, and Gnarly slipped through Boomâs portal.
~X~X~X~
The boulder was the size of a small house. Boom pulled his fist back, and with a loud yell, brought it forward with as much force as he could. He didnât often use all his strengthâEggmanâs robots werenât exactly a big challenge to destroyâbut he dug deep within himself now and pulled out everything he could.
There was a feeling, a surge of power he felt when he was at the Sanctuary. Heâd asked Modern about it once, and the boy had said it was the chaos energy given off by the Master Emerald. Boom hadnât understood what that meant at the time. But now, it seemed to give him a boost of power.
His fist connected a loud smack, and the rock exploded into dust and tiny pebbles. Boom stepped back, watching as the cloud cleared.
He was running out of boulders. And that feeling in his chest hadnât gone away.
He didnât like it. Didnât like feeling angry. Didnât like being angry at his friends. At any of his friendsâhedgehog, fox, badger . . . or echidna. He felt terrible and selfish and guilty for the things heâd said, but at the same time, behind that anger was another emotion.
Hurt.
After everything heâd done for those other echidna, all the help heâd offered with no expectation of any kind of reward, this is how they respond. By telling him his friends arenât really his friends. That they actually treat him really badly, but he was apparently too stupid to see it.
He snarled. Stupid. He hated that word. But even now, when he was back on his world and the influence of the Master Emerald was weaker, his mind felt clouded. Jumbled. Messy. He couldnât remember the details of what theyâd said, but he remembered how their words made him feel. And he didnât like it.
Boom grunted and stomped on the ground, kicking some of the rocks heâd created when he destroyed the boulder. He felt like screaming. And crying. And breaking things. And just laying down and not getting back up again. All these emotions, all these feelings, all jumbled up in his chest, in his head, in his stomach. He felt like he was going crazy.
With another yell, Boom brought his fist up and turned, lashing out at whatever was nearby.
His arm came to a jarring stop, and he blinked.
His fist was stopped dead by Xâs open palm.
The snarl was back on Boom's lips.
"You here to tell me how horrible my friends are, too?" he asked, pulling his fist back. He turned away, walking toward one of the few boulders left. "Save your breath. I'm not listening. Go away."
X said nothing, but Little Z hurried forward. "Big Boom?" he called, his voice soft and shaky. "Are you mad at me, too?"
Boom stopped, lowering his head. His arms dropped, his large hands clenching and unclenching as he thought. The little zombie Knuckles hadn't done anything. But there was so much in Boom's head right now. It was hard to separate his feelings for the boy from all the rest of them.
"Why are you here?" Boom's voice was even, but there was so much emotion in it, X and Gnarly exchanged a glance. "Leave me alone."
"Big Boom?" Little Z called again, and Gnarly moved forward to place a hand on the boy's shoulder. X moved around to Boom's side, trying to get his attention.
"The others are just worried about you," X said, his voice soft. "We all care about you, you know that. They don't want you to be hurt. That's all."
Boom turned, his brow furrowed. There was still anger in his eyes, but a sorrow joined it.
"They hurt me. They think my friends treat me bad, like I'm stupid. They treated me just the same."
X didn't say anything for a long moment. Then a small smile curled his lips.
"I know how you feel, because I was treated the same way."
Boom didn't expect that. He turned, the furrow in his brow changing from hurt and anger, to confusion. "What do you mean?"
X smiled a little wider, shrugging. "I'm the same as you. I trust too much, I let my friends take advantage of me. They took my Master Emerald to power a spaceship, and I forgave them. I know what you're going through."
Boom seemed to think about this for a moment, before turning to X fully. âIs it . . . is it bad that we donât hate people for the way they treat us? Even if they can be a little thoughtless, or mean? Does that mean we really are . . . stupid?â
X pulled his lips tight. He never thought of himself as stupid per se. Maybe a little too trusting. A little too quick to forgive, and see the good in everyone, even those who try to do him harm. But those arenât necessarily bad traits, were they? Arenât those better than going through life with a cynical, mistrusting outlook?
Before X could reply, Gnarly spoke up.
"When I was growing up in Boscage Maze, I could hear the trees. I could see colors the others couldn't. They all said I was crazy. That what I was hearing and seeing wasn't really there. But I knew. I knew they were. Just because the others couldn't see them didn't mean they weren't there. And yeah, I did question myself sometimes. But deep down, I knew there was something different about me. They just couldn't see it. They couldn't hear or see what I did, because they didn't really hear or see me.
"That didn't mean they were bad friends. Just because they thought I was crazy didn't mean they didn't care about me. They just didn't understand me. Heck, I didn't understand me either, for the longest time. Until I was pulled into the Sanctuary for the first time. Then everything was quiet. Everything made sense. I figured out who I was."
"Our friends may not treat us the best all the time," X said, moving closer to Boom. "They may not understand us all the time. But that doesn't mean they're not our friends. And that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with us. If someone treats us badly, either intentionally or unintentionally, it shows what kind of person they are. The best thing we can do, is just keep being who we are.
âThat's how we stay true to ourselves. Yeah, it may mean we're hurt. Or sad. Or tricked. But the times when we're helping someone, or protecting someone, or doing good are much more important."
Boom's face cleared, the anger fading. His brow relaxed, and the tension in his shoulders disappeared. He looked between the three other Knuckles, the anger and hurt he'd felt just a moment ago dissipating like fog on a warm day.
The tall echidna pulled in a long breath, and let it out in a slow exhale. He rubbed the back of his neck, letting out a soft chuckle.
"Guess I went a little nuts back there, huh? Ugh. I said such horrible things. They're never gonna forgive me."
Boom dragged a hand down his face, when he felt a small hand grip the fingers of his free hand. He looked down and found Little Z, looking up at him with his big eyes.
"You're not mad?"
Boom smiled down at the boy, shaking his head. "Nah, I'm not mad, Little Z." He reached down to pull the boy up and perch him on his shoulders. "I just . . . had a little hissy fit, I guess."
"So," he said, looking over at X and Gnarly. "How mad are the others at me?"
Before either could respond, a loud shout split the air.
"YE'LL NEVER CATCH ME! I BE ON AN IMPORTANT MISSION!!"
The group turned and watched as Dread came running from the trees nearby, following closely by Renegade, Sinbad, and Gawain. The three bringing up the rear did not look pleased.
"THERE YE BE!" Dread shouted, screeching to a halt before Boom. "Now ye listen here, Boom. Ye be me best mate, and I ainât gonna allow ye tâ feel such anger towards the fools what hurt you! We be just tryin' t' keep ye from gettin' hurt, andâ"
Gnarly moved near him and clocked Dread upside the head.
"It's over. We talked. He's good."
Dread shot a scowl at Gnarly, before looking back at Boom. "This be true?"
Boom nodded. "It be."
Dread seemed to consider this for a moment.
"Well, I woulda got it done faster!"
Hot take: I am SO TIRED of the pessimistic thief/conman trope and the poor execution of trying to make them sympathetic
I never found it really engaging or interesting--in the case of Tulio and Dimitri, it's not really explained why they are the way they are, and Sinbad and Flynn get the typical "poor kid ostacized and turned into a thief" backstory, none of which is given in anything more than brief detail. In fact:
NO ONE ever brings up the fact that even after Dimitri develops feelings for Anya and BEFORE he finds out she's Anastasia, he still involves her in the con, lying to her and willing to scam the dowager empress out of her money. He doesn't feel bad about lying to either of them; he only feels bad that he's been lying to Anya once he finds out she's really who he's been pawning her off as. She had every right to be mad at him, and I never see the fandom mention this.
Tulio is never given any type of backstory, nor is Chel, Miguel, or Tzekhal-Khan. No one gets any type of explanation for who they are or where they came from. It holds the movie back, imo. But honestly the reason I dislike Tulio is the reason I like Miguel; Miguel doesn't fall into the trope.
Sinbad's movie felt like it was full of rushed characterization, especially his romance with Marina. Plus he never comes off as charming or as clever as he's supposed to; he just comes off as kinda sleazy and a terrible friend--except at the very end because of Eris' test. She did that one to herself. He was willing to risk his friend dying simply because he thought his dad wouldn't allow it--which he was right about, but Proteus still wanted to risk it, regardless. I think we can all agree that Proteus deserved better.
Flynn feels so mature and jaded in contrast to the innocence of Rapunzel that he feels almost fatherly to her--I wouldn't be shocked if he was in his 30s. Their romance just didn't click until the end for me, and even before that, Flynn--like Sinbad and Tulio--is thrown into comical situations and doesn't come off as super charming. I feel like he would've been more endearing if his "Eugene" side was secretly a nerdy/emotional person who was hiding himself due to toxic masculinity or bullying--but I guess this is why I'm not hired to write movies. I'd have preferred his Bastion deleted concept.
[Magi reread] Night 88: A Voyage Towards Zagan
Congratulations for your single chapter of relevance.
Aww
My brain immediately jumped to HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAVEN i can't swim
Iirc, it was also related to her HV? Makes me wonder how she felt in the Final Arc, when she'd lost - maybe not the entirety of this ability, but an aspect of it, at least.
I fucking hate lolis
And doing some funky math, I think that it'd mean at the very beginning of the series Alibaba was almost 17. Like, take back half a year in Sindria, then half a year between Dungeon and Balbadd, potentially a month or a few IN Balbadd and IN Sindria that we (sorta) see - I mean, I doubt he's been training for like 3 days in Sindria and his MV returned. I'd kiiinda assume he was like three months from being 17 at the very beginning (at most).
Pics that make you hungry.
Pfff
Nice!
It always makes me snort seeing there bubble speeches with just !
The flying dungeon item.
This is still a bit funny and in general interesting. Frankly, I doubt ANYBODY expected Sinbad to swoop in and start conquering Dunegons left and right.
Tbh, I don't recall it being stated anywhere, but I kinda think that Sinbad was the first person to conquer more than one Dungeon. As in, we definitely have it stated that it's the era of numerous Dunegon Conquerors in contrast to the previous one where it was usually just three, one per Magi. I can imagine that it also usually meant that it was pretty straightforward 1 Magi->1 King->1 Djinn. Not only "why would they need more" but also if they had more, wouldn't they be more present in the folklore? Eg, some legend about a guy who could shoot lightinings and part the seas or whatever?
Naturally, it can be explained simply by Ohtaka just not thinking about something like that, and that's probably the case, but because of that I like to read it as Sinbad really being the first one to. Hence he was even allowed to conquer several dungeon - they, Ugo included, wanted to see what happens, but eventually decided that dude need to chill.
Still kinda funny that Sinbad went: welp, if I can't conquer it, guess I'll just send my son the kid who hero worships me to do this. It's basically Second-Hand Dungeon Conquering. (It kinda is)
But I still like to read it as him being genuine when he tells Alibaba&Co to be careful, even if it's related to the scheming.
Fair
Every once in a while I think about the fact that Hakuryuu and Judar weren't friends, until they sorta became ones in the middle of Belial.
Still, I think if this was how it went, as in without the whole he's just like me fr aspect, Hakuryuu would've become completely irredeemable, by which I mean, there'd be no coming back for him. Even if him and Judar were inarguably horrible for each other at the time, it was still a connection to another person, and while Hakuryuu definitely took him for granted, deep down he still appreciated his presence enough that Judar dying woke him up from that single-minded pursuit of revenge and destruction. Hakuryuu pushed away everybody around himself, and at his lowest he found a single (1) person who accepted his worst qualities... and then lost that person. And suddenly he was truly, utterly alone, and realized that it fucking sucked.
It's kind of insane to think that Judar essentially saved Hakuryuu's humanity. At the same time, I think i kind of makes me think, again, that one of the reasons I dislike JuH*ku is because I think Judar deserves better. Like I said, Hakuryuu took him for granted, and even in the Final Arc later it kinda feels like Judar's his second best, since Alibaba and Morgiana got together. Me@Judar you're gay? and for that?
He's definitely hoping for Alibaba, but Morgiana makes me laugh, given we keep hearing abt Fanalis not having enough Magoi to be KVs, and even Muu who's not a full-blood Fanalis has so many limits because of it.
Kinda lmao
RIP Hakuryuu
Sinbad: Legend Of The Seven Seas is definitely not a great movie nor is it one of DreamWorks' many underrated gems but with that said, Eris is such a criminally underrated, badass and awesome as all hell villain. Not only does she have some of the absolute best 2D animation that I've ever fucking seen in my life but she's actually a great example on having a villain be genuinely intimidating and a force to be reckoned with while at the same time having a code that makes her more than the usual generic one-dimensional villain. She honestly deserved to have been in a better movie, especially a better DreamWorks movie since she would've gone down as one of the best villains in animation alongside Death from Puss In Boots: The Last Wish recently.
But as it is, she's easily the best and most memorable thing in a mediocre movie and shows how much potential that movie actually had.
She's so good that right next to both Shego from Kim Possible and even Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Eris serves as the main inspiration for the villain-turned-antihero character of Miss Robin in my idea for Ms. Incredible & InvisiGirl with her design and personality almost being exact but at the same time with her own differentiations to make her stand out on her own. Robin's moral code is what ultimately turns her good.
God bless Eris.
what are your honest thought about your museâs canon? (Ja'far)
Munday asks / Accepting
HE DESERVED BETTER.
So I take a lot of issue with p much everything that happens after the Alma Toran arc. There were a lot of rumors going around at the time that Ohtaka was being rushed to close things out bc interest in the series was waning or she was gearing to switch projects to Orient or smth, don't know how true that was but from what came out I think it might be reasonable. To keep this short and less literary analysis, I'll stick to my issues with just Ja'far and Ja'far centric things. And imma put it under a read more bc it got way longer than expected lmao
So I loved Ja'far as a character early on, I thought he was super interesting with his dual nature of the brutal assassin & loyal government official and he serves as a great counterpart to one of the most interesting characters in the series, Sinbad. He's someone who is resolute in his loyalty but unafraid to course correct Sinbad. He's a reminder to Sinbad's dark past and the primary motivator of a brighter future. But a lot of that gets lost in the final arc.
I think part of it has to do with Sinbad's character change from morally gray and emotionally complicated leader (something we don't see a lot in anime) to self-serving, fully corrupted 'villain'. I could write a whole damn essay on Sinbad. But in this shift, Ja'far becomes rather weak and disappears into the background.
He's no longer guiding Sinbad or reprimanding him when he goes too far. Instead, he seems suddenly blind to Sinbad's true motives and depressingly lost in the final conflict. Like if they had revealed that Arba had brainwashed him to stand down, I would believe it. Even in his final plea for Sinbad to come down from his high horse, we get a wishy washy, emotional argument that Sinbad easily charms his way out of. When you compare this to the scene at the beginning of season two or even in SnB at the end of the slave arc, it's like a totally different characters. In those scenes, Ja'far was unapologetically brutal, even slapping Sinbad to wake him up and give him a fierce reality check. He doesn't take any of the dour, half-assed promises to do better. He's mean and in SnB he reminds Sinbad that he promised to kill him if he veers too far from his path.
And this has always been Ja'far's role in the series. He is Sinbad's first and most loyal supporter but also his harshest critic. Ja'far, who grew up without any sense of morality, serves as Sinbad's conscious. It's what I love most about their relationship. But all of that seems to disappear at the end of the series. Sinbad becomes the corrupt capitalist dictator and Ja'far his secretary.
Not to mention that when the whole 'mind control' thing happens and we find out that people who were formally fallen are immune, Ja'far was such an obvious choice to lead the main group in their siege on Godbad, to be the guide that shows them the way to victory. He would have been immune bc of his status was a Black Djinn host and also would have been able to kind of fulfill his promise of killing Sinbad until he gets back on course. I cannot explain the absolute jawdrop that transcended the fandom when the final player was revealed to be Whatshisfuck from Reim. People were rioting and fleeing the fandom en masse when the final arc was coming out, it was Not Good.
I love Ja'far as a character and Magi had such a strong play at moral ambiguity and the ethics of global politics and I think a lot of that was lost in the final arc in favor of a shounen typical, he gets the girl and defeats the Big Evil ending and I will forever be bitter about it. Like at one point I wrote out my 'if i was in charge' ending lmao. The last scene of Ja'far standing in Sindria, saying that he's waiting for Sinbad's return was heartbreaking.
Hi! I'm not super invested in ships (I'm more of a CanonxOC girl and anything outside that is typically outside my realm of interest.) There are a few that stand out to me:
âïž AliMor - My main issue here is how Alibaba didn't seem to think about Morgiana as more than a friend until he found out she likes him. Applying real life logic to their dynamic, it feels like he settled, and Morgiana deserves better. Plus, I seem to remember him always wanting a more traditional girl, and Morgiana often pictures herself as being strong and doing things like protecting him. (It's been a while so my memory could be off). She seems to have become more domestic once she started dating him, but without insight into her feelings about this shift in her personality, I have to wonder if she'll have any regrets years down the road. I'm probably projecting quite a bit with that though. (Again, my memory could be off.)
âïž Sinja - I think this is a case of the ship being so popular that I was just kind of turned off by it. Additionally, when people ship snb era Sinja romantically, it's a squick. I could see kid Ja'far having a crush on teen Sinbad, but not the other way around. Please, not the other way around, lol. While the adult versions are a comedic and dynamic duo, I don't necessarily find a romance between them to be appealing. I'm happy so many other people enjoy the ship.
â
ïž SinDra - these two have some pretty intimate moments in SNB. I feel like Drakon is probably Sinbad's closest confidant, even if he's not always by his side the way Ja'far is. I just think it's beautiful.
â
ïž SinEn - I've seen a couple of pretty decent fics on how these two have an interesting dynamic. Two super powerful guys with opposing views. In public, they hate each other. Behind closed doors? They smash lol
I could probably list more, but these are the ones that occupy most of my thoughts!
TOO ALL MAGI FANS... which ships do you hate And love?
I hate
ANY INCEST AND MINOR X ADULT SHIP (that include aladdin x any adult. In the manga/anime it show that aladdin appear to be 10 are 12 idk.. And the final arc is him being 15 yro)â
I love
Hakuryuu x kassim x judar x alibaba (they're husbands no explaination.)â
SINBAD X JAFAR
Morgiana x kougyoku.. (ik)
Yamuraiha x hakuei (yes)
SHEBA X SOLOMON (LOVE THEM)
... This may be weird.. *cough* Sahbmad x Koumei *cough*
There is more ship i wanna add but.. I only lile them but no love completelyâ such as.. Hakumor, titus x sphintus, sharrkan x yamuraiha, Arba x Trash and possibly more that idk about..
I was finding different screencaps to work on things, and I happened to stop on everyone reacting/judging Sinbad after Kougyoku's accusation. It made me laugh.
I don't know who's my favorite. They're all perfect.
That's it. I don't have anything else to add, but I felt like throwing together a quick edit because it got a chuckle out of me.
[Magi reread] Night 70: Bird
Yeaah, wasn't exactly feeling very Magi lately. Or anything. Kinda hard to go back to normal uni mode from a winter break, so I was busy trying to make sense of my sleeping schedule, which, frankly, is still shit, but, hey, I'm doing my best here XD
Also, damn, I really like that new blog theme. It's so readable. For me, at least. No regrets.
But anyway, the actual chapter.
RIP Alibaba's Weapon DE burnt arms, you will be missed by ME, because I thought they were super cool.
Tbh, I don't think it evolved? I've always read it as Alibaba not mastering it fully, actually. I mean, most DE's cover the body better, and later naturally transform into Full-Body DEs. So, basically, it wasn't until that moment that he actually reached Weapon Djinn Equip.
Low blow.
Well, fuck
Very good catch, Morgiana.
Tbh, I don't think they would've died... Or at least, I don't think Sinbad would've died, cuz I think Alibaba could've cushioned him a little, but it also probably would've really sucked for him, too. Like, from that hit, his spine could've broken, probably...
Actually, damn, the fact that Alibaba's didn't break. Or, damn, shouldn't he have some head trauma? By now he probably should've. Anyway, but also I checked the previous page, and from the way he hit the wall, he sort of avoided hitting his head, but god damn, the fact that his spine is fine after this is a goddamn miracle.
You know, I really think it's pretty cool. Just, these two working together. Idk, man, I'm always weak for Sinbad and Alibaba.
It took me an embarrassing moment to realize he was being pulled by Djinn!Cassim's gravity powers...
This entire part deserved to be here. I love how aware he is that he can't do it yet, and just braces himself for a hit... that never comes.
10/10. And the fact that SAHBMAD is commanding them.
When did you get back there.
Also, love how he's so concerned for them, but Sinbad calms him down.
-claps- You go, guys
I genuinely love how desperate the situation is, and how everybody's trying, anyway.
Lowkey made me think about Honkai Impact 3rd's "Everlasting Flames" animated short. There's that quote "We're connected by this sword. It will burn up the darkness to make way for light!". Feels quite fitting.
Like, it has nothing to do with each other, obviously, but I just thought it was fun.
JUDAR FUCKING JUMPSCARE
Like, I genuinely forgot he appears here.
Also, damn, Alibaba gets no breaks, does he?
I love that Sinbad's immediately next to him.
Alibaba, being the normalest guy around: Al-Thamen: Nope, we can't have that.
Jokes aside, yeah, dude's not wrong. Alibaba might be nothing special compared to behemots like Sinbad or Kouen, but he's got an ungodly amount of willpower when push comes to shove, and is smart enought to maneuver himself in difficult situations. Tho the fact that he seems so unremarkable is also to his benefit, since people tend to underestimate him.
But Al-Thamen doesn't. It makes sense for them - they've been running the world from the shadows for hundreds of years. They know that just because somebody might not look like they can amount to much, doesn't mean they aren't capable of it. And Alibaba's given them the proof of it. He went not only against fate they'd envisioned, but also against the one Sinbad had. He is a threat-in-making.
Well, yeah, the situation really fucking sucks. I've said it before & I'm saying it again, I like how Alibaba isn't fucking fooling himself into believing he can do this... but at the same time, he doesn't give up. He has to do this, somehow. He just doesn't know how yet. And it's well in line with his characterization, just like his talk with Cassim about avoiding bloodshed. He doesn't know yet, but he will figure something out. There's too much to lose if he doesn't.
I mean, yeah, somebody had to handle this.
"That's...?"
._.
.__.
Like, bro, what do I say. This fucking sucks.
HIT ITAAAAAAHHHHHHH
I NEED A HERO~!
You know I had to.
And people in the movie actually called out sinbad on his actions as well, unlike Flynn.
That movie deserves so much better than it got. I used to loved watching it and the characters were great.
I donât know if you watched dreamworks sinbad but if you watched it, you can see that Flynn is basically a ripoff of sinbad. They have the same personality and looks. The only difference between them is that sinbad is actually attractive and isnât a totally creep like Flynn is.
Disney was ripping off every Dreamworks movie for this one.
OMG I REMEMBER SINBAD!!!! I used to actually be scared of eris as a kid but now I find her extremely entertaining and pretty (especially her hair) and itâs a WAY better movie than tangled could ever dream to be
yeah sinbad is a lot like flynn, except flynn is the Walmart cheap version of sinbad. also sinbad has more of a character arc and interesting personality that actually accept the fact that his actions has consequences as seen by him returning to be executed despite eris trying to claim otherwise.
