HAPPY PRIDE MONTH
As every year this is a good date to remember the daily struggle for the rights of the LBGT+ community. It is also a time to learn about the people who made it possible for us to identify ourselves as who we are today without fear of reprisals or being punished by the law. This month I got involved in the history of Argentina and its different movements for the fight for rights through the 20th century. Here I come to share some important figures, some more known than others, but obviously there are a lot that I have left out of this publication.
Sara Facio (1932-2024) & Maria Elena Walsh (1930-2011)
A couple of intellectual artists that would need a separate publication to go deeper into the subject. Sara is one of the greatest Latin American photographers who with her camera contributed to the creation of the most outstanding photographic heritage of the country. Maria Elena is a writer, singer and composer whose children's songs resonate to this day because they are much more profound than they seem and are still relevant today.
Salvadora Medina Onrubia (1894-1972)
She was a writer, militant anarchist, single mother and the first woman to run a newspaper in the country. She was the first Argentinean woman to dare to write about double sinners, lesbians and adulteresses. One of her most valued plays was Las descentradas, premiered in 1929. There, Salvadora honors her own contradictions, narrating women who question monogamous structures, marriage and the traditional family.
Malva Solis (1920-2015)
She was a transvestite writer who lived for 95 years when the life expectancy of this community in the country was under 40 years old. In 1951 founded the first trans organization on record, Maricas Unidas Argentinas. She has the oldest series of trans photographs in the country, dating from 1940 to 1980, when simply having those photographs at home was cause for being arrested. There is a documentary based on the photographs and conversations with her at her home called "Con Nombre de flor".
Jorge Horacio Ballve Piñero (1920-?)
Piñero was a young man from a well-to-do family of the Buenos Aires society at the beginning of the century. Together with his best friend Adolfo and Blanca, he organized gatherings in his apartment in Recoleta, and was a pioneer of male erotic photography. They mixed the privileged social class with workers, dishwashers, gas station workers, sailors and cadets from the Military College. These three characters were involved in a police case involving cadets from the military college, known as the Cadet Scandal. In the police archives remain captive the photographic collection, intended for pleasure and personal aesthetic enjoyment that tragically proved key to incriminate some friends who just wanted to have fun.
Ruth Mary Kelly (1925-1994)
She was a bisexual woman, who worked as a "Wohoo Worker". Founder of Grupo Safo in 1972, the first Argentine lesbian organization, and of the Frente de Liberación Homosexual (Homosexual Liberation Front). In 1972 she wrote Memorial de los Infiernos about her experiences as a "Wohoo" worker and bisexual, persecuted by the psychiatric-prison system.
Manuel Puig (1932-1990)
He was an Argentine writer and LGBT+ activist, author of the novels Boquitas pintadas, El beso de la mujer araña (Considered one of the most recognized LGBT works in Latin America and one of the best works in Spanish of the 20th century) etc. He also fought against authoritarianism and machismo, and was one of the founders of the Homosexual Liberation Front in 1971, one of the first associations for the defense of LGBTQI+ rights.
Mariela Muñoz (1943-2017)
She was the first transsexual woman to be recognized by the state and given a female ID card on May 2, 1997. At the age of 16 she became independent, and it was then that she began caring for children, teenagers and single mothers. She cared for children who had been abandoned by their mothers, whom she loved and cared for. She raised, during her lifetime, 23 children and 30 grandchildren. In a dispute over the guardianship of 3 children in 1993, Argentina was confronted for the first time with the debate as to whether a transsexual person "could be a mother"
Carlos Jauregui (1957-1996) & Raul Soria
Carlos was a History professor and the founder of the Civil Association Gays for Civil Rights, organizer of the first Pride march in Buenos Aires and an essential figure for Argentine activism. In 1984, he broke with the schemes by appearing in the magazine Siete Días embracing the activist Raul Soria, a homosexual person assumed his sexuality in a public way for the first time. He believed that media visibility is fundamental for LGTB people. Leaving aside the fear and silence that other generations suffered for years. In 1985, Raul would present himself as the first gay candidate for congressman in the country.
Roberto Jauregui (1960-1994)
Brother of Carlos, was a journalist, actor and the first activist for the rights of people with HIV in the country. In 1989 he exposed the inequality in access to treatment at that time due to the price of medication. He played a central role in marches, actions, talks and interviews to demand human rights for people living with the virus. A well-known phrase of his is "Showing one's face is not easy in a society that discriminates, censures and separates".
Cris Miró (1965-1999)
Cris was the first visible trans people that appeared in the media and broke with the "transvestite" paradigm. A dental student, she got involved in the artistic underworld and later studied classical dance, musical comedy and acting. Her career was meteoric: the popularity of revue theater catapulted her to the small screen where she became a sought-after figure in the most popular programs. On June 23rd, a series about his life inspired by his biography was released, available on Prime Video.
Alejandro Vannelli (1948-) y Ernesto Larresse (1950-)
They were the first couple in the province of Buenos Aires to get legally married on July 30, 2010 after the Equal Marriage Law was passed. They met in 1976 because of a triple A bomb in the theater where Larresse was performing with Nacha Guevara, then he joined the cast of Vannelli. At the beginning they did not like each other because of Vanelli's appearance as a wealthy young man and Larresse was the opposite, but opposites attracted and they were a couple for 34 years.
Norma Castillo (1943-) y Ramona "Cachita" Arévalo (1943-2018)
They were the of South America's first gay marriage on April 9, 2010. Norma and Ramona were married to two Colombians, who were cousins to each other. During the dictatorship they both went into exile in Colombia and there they fell in love and lived their romance clandestinely, until Cachita separated and Norma was widowed by her husband. They lived their love freely and even opened an LGBT discotheque in Colombia. In 1998 they returned to Argentina and began to work in sexual diversity organizations.
Feliciano Centurión 1962-1996)
He was a visual artist, a Paraguayan painter professionally trained in Argentina. He grew up in a home dominated by women, where he learned to sew and crochet. Inspired by queer aesthetics and folk art, he used to incorporate household textiles and references to the natural world. She handled kitsch art and languages not considered high art with a great deal of knowledge and sensitivity.
Humberto Tortonese (1964-) , Alejandro Urdapilleta (1954-2013) & Batato Barea (1961-1991)
Batato was an actor and "literary transvestite clown" as he called himself, one of the most important personalities of the underground theater movement of the post-dictatorship years. Together with Alejandro Urdapilleta and Humberto Tortonese, revolutionized the underground scene of the 80's - in places like the Parakultural. They disguised themselves, wore make-up and improvised delirious and strident scenes for the decade.
Sandra Mihanovich & Celeste Carballo
Sandra and Celeste are two singers who were visibly lesbians during the 80s and early 90s. Together they released the albums "Somos mucho mas que dos" and "Mujer contra mujer" which became a symbol of belonging for the whole LGBTQ arc in our country. They managed to be part of the rock scene, an area historically dominated by men. Sandra among all her songs is "Soy lo que soy" released in 1984 composed by Henry Jerman.

One thing that I will never get over was the influx of people in the Sims community who actively rallyed against disabilities being included in the sims because it was "too sad"
Like jesus fucking christ
#ableism#i think#note i am like able bodied so like i wasn't like the psrt disabled community who was directly blasted by this#but like thats still gross man#like seeing people being like “its too sad to see disabled people in game because what if they are helpless little babys#like they didn't want to see blind people to like burn alive in their own homes which????? like thats suchs a wild like claim its bizarre#which like i understand its sad but like being trans is sad- being lbgt+ is sad but that doesn't mean the sims should exclude them#like even if the sims gets something as simple as a trait that makes it harder to communicate as the speech disability rep#then i would love it of how like non visable speaking difficultys are in media#like it doesn't even have to be like a big like single trait#i do think making one big trait to repressent all disabitys would be bad#but even if its more “mini traits” like the trouble speaking then i think they could pull it off#(also did we forget the insane trait existence and how they basically did a whole fuck you when insane was still in the game)#idk this is a rant sorry#sims 4

Happy Pride Month Batlings!
Chaz Harman // Young Adult // Ghoul
Aspiration: LGBT Rights Activist
Traits: Creepy / Mysterious / Childish / Stargazer / Insecure
Wow!! I'm so excited and proud to introduce you all to Chaz.
He's a bit of a quirky ghoul, but that hasn't stopped him from perusing his dreams. Transition for a ghoul however is a bit tricky compared to a human sim. No big deal though so long as grave robbing doesn't phase you!
Chaz is a loveable softie that just wants to help others along their journey and know they are loved. Not everyone can just go around robbing graves after all and it's not the most hygienic practice either. Most sims find his ghoulish appearance creepy, but once they hear his story most are quick to warm up to his corpse like charms!
Take care of yourselves, and be nice to each other! ♥ Ero

I headcanon Morgyn Ember as non-binary with he/him pronouns sorta like Asra in The Arcana. I know a lot of people speculate him as a trans man and I like that too. I love the Sims team for giving us lgbt cuties!

Jax (yellow top) was the high school football star. His parents had big plans for him, he was to conform to masculine standards and be the best athlete in Newcrest but it wasn’t what he wanted. He enjoyed being active but resented football, he didn’t want to be a star like his dad, he wanted to live his own life. Soon he met Adonis (black top), he was a bit of an awkward kid, was mean to others because he was afraid of getting close to people. Jax sat with him at the lunch table on day and Adonis looked at him in disgust, figuring he was there to bully him because why else would the most popular boy in school be sitting with him but Jax convinced him that he wasn’t there to be mean, he wanted to get to know him. Over the next year they became close, closer than Jax ever imagined and he realized he had developed feelings for Adonis. He had never really liked anyone before and wasn’t sure what to do. He sat Adonis down and explained to him how he felt, Adonis rolled his eyes and let out a chuckle for grabbing Jax’s face and kissing him, “I like you too, stupid.”

🌻🌻🌻
Since everyone’s favorite Bunny was my first ever ask I am going to do something special for her. Under the cut is the official title/announcement for the previously Untitled Elfinspirit BPR Project. I will be reposting it in it’s own properly tagged post later. Currently I am aiming for a September release, but it might be earlier.
StarFall is a Berry Pastel Rainbowcy that treats the rules more like guidelines, and then ignores them anyway. I make zero guarantees about what happens as I barely know myself. All I do know is we are skipping the detective career because after a half dozen failed BPR attempts that glitched out I cannot play it one more time. Things you can expect: An entirely new world with city names that don't sound like a dessert menu (I do want to try it someday, but it really didn't fit this story). Berries with EA hair colors because recolors is what broke my game during the previous attempts (not even joking I've gotten farther in this save then ever before without problems and that is the only thing that changed). Vanilla sims running a muck in the background because I can't have nice things like berry saves, but at least they are written in. Lots of freckles and blush. My quirky sense of humor that no one may get. Probably rated 16 and up at minimum. The target audience is definitely adults, but I'm going to keep it clean as much as possible. No nudity, but a lot of heavy themes so this isn't for kids. A fair bit of gayness as the series goes on (by which I mean there will be a lot of LBGT+ content because I tend towards diversity). Also mpreg because the sims game allows same sex couple to have kids and I am totally fine with my pixel people being able to have a family with whomever they love without medical intervention or other assistance. Consider that your warning. One request: Please be kind I have never publicly released any fiction that I have written, and there are maybe 4 people that have even read my previous writing and I pulled way too much from personal experience for this. So if something awful happens to the characters guess who may have lived a version of it. Oh, and if I ever miss a trigger warning on something let me know nicely and I will add it. Feel free to reach out/reply/send an ask if you want to know anything or chat. I promise I'm friendly. Only my Vampires bite 😉.

The Gift of Matthew
World AIDS DAY
December 1, 2021
The Gift of Matthew!
". . .And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces. . .Isa. 25:7-8.
Matthew Shepherd was born on this day in 1976. Matt came to know at an early age that he was gay, and throughout his teen years until his death at 21, he struggled with his sexuality.
He was no saint, for like so many on this journey he used drugs, rebelled against his parents, struggled to make grades, and in the end was murdered as a result of his sexuality.
His journey is one that is experienced, by many, including me --denial, rejection by family, friends, emotionally damaged, drugs, sexually acting out, and for many AIDS.
Matthew is a gift is in his calling us to see the face of the pain of homophobia, and HIV prejudice.
Matthew is a gift in that he calls churches to see their failure and the pain and death caused by their homophobia. He calls churches to talk openly about sexuality in their youth groups. Matt calls ministers to move away from their fear and walk with queer youth.
Matthew is a gift in his calling us to move out of our blindness about sexuality, and see the rainbow of sexual orientations: LBGT?.
As I walk the street, hear the stories of each young person on their journey, see them struggle with drugs, sexuality, rejection by family and friends, the face of Matthew Shepherd is always before me, representing Christ crucified, and remember the promise that:
He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces. . .Isa. 25:7-8.
Deo Gratias! Thanks be to God!

LGBT Communities Impact on Social Gaming
Video games are never just about pastimes. When we try to observe it, we can found that people can cast a different perspective: there is a perspective on culture, and a perspective on technology; There may also be a perspective about the person who plays the game, and a perspective about the person who develope the game; There is even a perspective on media, and a perspective on the industry; There's also a perspective on social change and game history. They are like an indispensable two-voice, playing a cultural piece of music called Recreation.
Remembered when I first installed the Internet at home, I played a bunch of mini-games online, then I bought some PC games from a few shops. Among my favorite games were Plants vs. Zombies, Gold Miner Vegas, The Sims 3 and 4, Adventure Quest, and Chinese MMORPG 倾世情缘(Qing Shi Qing Yuan). In the past, I used to play games to pass time. And as time grew, I found that knowledge is also increasing through these games, it could also affect our minds. For example, some story-based games can actually reflect the problems happening in our modern society. By playing games, not only can increase interpersonal relationships but also refresh our perspective on life. Maybe by this, I became more open-minded.
In the 1980s and 1990s, influenced by feminist and LBGT movement, many mainstream media forms, such as TV series, movies, music, etc., were more or less affected by the queer style. They began to try out the temperament of non-heterosexual Gender in their perform, fashion, or storyline design. For example, ‘Sex and the City’ appeared a gay friend, Stanford of the first heroine, Carrie, later appeared in the TV series ‘Will and Grace’ and ‘Queer as Folk’ on the theme of urban gay and lesbian.
Now in the 21st century, some popular idols have coming out publicly, and under the influence of fanart or fanfiction, fans are willing to take the initiative to participate in the idol's behaviors into their desire of LGBT, imaging their idols becoming a same-sex couple with another. So, is there any LGBT element in the game world? I think there are few, but still are. It can be seen that in recent years, with the social trend and the development of the LGBT affirmative movement, the number of LGBTQ characters in video games has gradually increased, as has the number of LGBTQ-friendly players.
Last week, I found an online video game called 'A Gay's Life', An independent Chinese role-playing game about a Beijing gay teenage boy, Ling Hao (凌浩), navigating everyday life illustrates the "harsh realities" of the dating scene, judgments, family pressure, and discrimination against LGBTQ people in China.(Huang, 2018).The game was designed by 27-year-old Gaole Huang and established as a hobby with the support of a team of gaming enthusiasts, influenced by his own experiences as a gay man who grew up in the region of Shandong before moving to Beijing.
Below will be some pictures and GIFs of the game’s screenshots.
(Game’s splash screen)
(When he first come out to his best friend.)
(When he get married to a women he doesn’t want to.)
(He feels excluded in society as a part of LGBT communities.)
Ling Hao: “My Grandma said, must wear a red scarf in wedding, looks festivity“
“I hope through an easy-to-read, immersive, emotional, and interesting interactive story, I’ve created concrete figures to show some of the awkward situations that gay people around me still face in today’s society,” Huang said.
Most of the comments for the game A Gay's Life are positive. On Weibo, one of the most highly rated words on the game was "real", and most of these comments came from LGBT communities. As for heterosexuals, a 30 years old author stated, he played to the end of the game, and his strongest feeling is: "as a heterosexual, I seem to get these things easily, but it is so difficult to get it here."
A comment from a straight man, the game gave him the information which is different from what he thought in the past. For example, he used to think that the LGBT community itself is very complicated, they don't want to have a fixed relationships, but after he played and he found that it is because the resistance is very large when "homosexual" been together, their love is not accepted by the mainstream, which makes their feelings to be more fragile.
Another example, he felt that as long as its real love, it doesn't matter if the state allows the marriage or not. After playing the game, he found that marriage can play a certain role in protecting the interests of partners, such as the partner can obtain benefits when they purchase a house. But "gays" cannot marry, means that there is no way to enjoy the protection and welfare brought by marriage, this is also a form of implicit discrimination of the society.
After I played A Gay’s Life, it gave me a better layer of understanding of the LGBT group's psychological. In its several endings, some of them make me touched, some make my heart breaks. Our country, Malaysia, is not legally recognized for LGBT, the same as China. Malaysia, in fact, there are groups of LGBTQ people, but to protect themselves, most of them won't coming out to the public, some not even dare to tell their families, because these groups easily receive a peculiar look from others. Some of them might be despised, judged, scolded, bullied, they can't even do something they like or love someone they want, they seem like a criminal in others' eyes, feeling the groups of people are disgusting, weird, sinfull. I was really disappointed to see these phenomena, I'm not sure how can I help them, and I think now all I can do is to mentally support them as I can. And I hope the people who don't like LGBT groups of people, they can at least respect them. However, through many positive reviews that I saw in the game’s forum, I can feel that the societies of the younger generation are slowly accepting LGBT communities. By the way, this is a very good game to play.
"As in real life, having a variety of characters and their personalities and backgrounds helps to build a richer and broader overall fictional universe," Steven Choo, a spokesman of Blizzard Entertainment, told The Post's Comic Riffs (Cavna, 2016)
In recent years, the LGBT community displayed in the game might become less popular, they become more ordinary, just like the passers-by who pass by in our life. But because of the injection of these characters, it makes the whole game to be more complete and real.
