Check out my first video lesson in my "flipped lesson" series. The idea of a "flipped lesson" is to upload short videos that explain a concept or technique. Teachers can front-load lessons by sharing the concept early, or students can go back and watch the lesson over and over if they missed something. It fits well into a world of "education on demand." So many of my students even as young as 2nd Grade are looking up "how to" videos, and honestly I think it's great. We need our classrooms to be a part of that conversation as well. Powe student, please show this to them (maybe even buy them some of these simple supplies, pipe cleaner or sturdy string or twine or stretchy string & beads. Twelve years ago, I was charged to teach nursery aged children a Sunday School lesson. Now I was just a young mother, not a professional teacher, but I am creative. I remember this scripture, Revelation 3:20 because this scripture changed one of my little students lives and mine too. I taught the kids about salvation with this scripture by making a hand puppet with a brown paper bag, a heart, and a picture of Jesus knocking, and then Jesus in their heart. I led them in the prayer of salvation that day by them repeating after me. I thought, “hey it’s worth the shot.”🤷🏽‍♀️ Well, a year later, one of those babies became very sick and was in the hospital. They didn’t know if he would live or not. His mama asked him if he knew Jesus, and his response was, “I already know Jesus mama, He lives in my heart.” The mom asked how do you know, he said, “ Ms. J taught me that he knocked on the door to my heart and if I let Him in, He’d live with me forever so I did.” You never know how your obedience will affect someone’s life. That one simple act of obedience led a little boy to salvation. He’s now a sophomore in high school and doing well. I’m so glad that Jesus stands at the door and knocks.
