Mortadella d'autore, cotto triestino, ovviamente un crudo d'eccellenza come il San Daniele anche abbinato a cocktail originali a base di whiskey, formaggi di nicchia di produttori locali come la Latteria di Visinale, Birra Friuli, vini friulani tutti da gustare come Lis Fadis... avete appena letto solo alcuni dei prodotti di qualità assoluta del Nord Est italiano che potete gustare all'Enoteca Vecchia Pretura di Codroipo (UD). Non per caso, al locale gestisto dal barman internazionale Michele Piagno con la sua famiglia è stato rilasciato e concesso il marchio "Io Sono FVG", che testimonia la sostenibilità delle imprese regionali e l'origine delle produzioni agroalimentari. 

Per Fiera di San Simone, domenica 23 ottobre, dalle 13, presso l'Enoteca Vecchia Pretura di Codroipo (UD) va in scena uno show che è tutto un programma, Pretura Wow. Alle performance per grandi e piccini pensa un clown che sa come far emozionare chiunque, ovvero Lex. Alla voce, direttamente da Rado Wow, c'è Emma Rossato… E ovviamente, dietro al bancone, c'è Michele Piagno, capace di preparare cocktail d'autore che regalano emozioni… e, ovviamente, a chi ha voglia di mangiare qualcosa di buono, anche proporre qualcuna delle eccellenze friulane che L'Enoteca Vecchia Pretura da sempre propone.

Chi è Michele Piagno

Originario di San Vito al Tagliamento (PN), Michele Piagno è un barman esperto di mixologia molecolare. Classe 1981, è figlio d'arte: con la sua famiglia di ristoratori, tra un impegno e l'altro gestisce l'Enoteca Vecchia Pretura, a Codroipo (UD).

Brand Ambassador Mixò Italy, nel 2019 ha pubblicato "El Señor Mojito", un libro di 51 ricette in cui, mentre racconta l'origine del cocktail a base di lime e rhum, svela i segreti del barman perfetto. Nel 2021 lancia poi Barancli, Gin Originale Friulano, legato a doppio filo con la sua terra e scrive con il giornalista / blogger Lorenzo Tiezzi "Consumazione compresa", un libro dedicato alla magia della notte, a tanti suoi protagonisti e al buon bere.

"Barista, barman, bartender… in fondo sono tutti sinonimi. Chi sta dietro a un bancone deve soprattutto saper ascoltare e regalare un po' di serenità a chi viene a rilassarsi in un locale", spiega Michele Piagno, un professionista che punta da sempre su creatività ed eccellenza senza prendersi troppo sul serio.

Nel 2011 ha ideato Glow Sweet & Sour Mix, un liofilizzato divenuto brevetto mondiale per cocktail fluorescenti e si occupa da tempo anche di formazione: già dal 2007 è master trainer e collabora con Flair Academy Milano e con la Federazione Baristi Italiani.

Nel 2013 ha curato con il giornalista Claudio Burdi il libro "100 cocktail light e contemporanei", mentre nel 2014 ha collaborato con il celebre chef Terry Giacomello de l'Inkiostro a Parma (già al fianco di Ferran Adria a El Bulli) per la specializzazione e lo studio del concetto "Drink & Food".

Successivamente, ecco un progetto di food pairing con Norbert Niederkofler, lo chef tristellato del St. Hubertus di San Cassiano (BZ) e poi un altro progetto con Nicola Pepe, vincitore di Hell's Kitchen Italia 2018.

Tra le collaborazioni con i brand, ecco Redbull (Canambassador) e San Bitter, per cui ha creato drink abbinati ai finger food della campagna pubblicitaria "Intervalli Italiani". Suoi anche i drink studiati per Brouwerij Van Steenberg, uno dei più rinomati birrifici delle Fiandre che lo ha scelto per esaltare la sua birra più prestigiosa, la Gulden Draak. Infine, nel 2012 è stato Brand Ambassador Perrier.

Live Like a King at Colona Castle Manor House

The charming suburb of Lakeside in Cape Town is situated in between the suburbs of Westlake and Muizenberg, with the jagged Steenberg Mountains as a prominent backdrop and the Zandvlei (sandy lake) in the foreground.

The Zandvlei Lake lies below the suburb of Lakeside and presents a range of exciting activities including canoeing, yachting, windsurfing and other water-sports. There are superb beaches within close proximity and these are easily accessible as the suburb has its own train station. The journey towards Simon's Town by train follows a picturesque route along the coast. The beach at Muizenberg is a surfing hotspot and Boulders Beach, just past Simon's Town, is home to one of Africa's few land-based penguin colonies and also provides some fantastic swimming opportunities.

Lakeside is en route to some of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the Cape Peninsula. From St. James to Simon's Town you can relish a fun-filled day of exploring everything these little seaside villages have to offer, and if your timing is right, you can enjoy whale watching at the end of winter through to the end of spring.

The Rondevlei Nature Reserve in Phuket Grassy Park is a wetland conservation area surrounded by coastal dunes, just minutes away. There are brilliant birding watching opportunities and an assortment of tranquil walks to enjoy. You can even spot hippos and small wild animals that live in the reserve.

Only moments from Lakeside is the M3, a main freeway which leads to the City Bowl, offering a quick and convenient route into Cape Town. Here one can explore museums, the fascinating stores and restaurants of Long Street, the V&A Waterfront, fashionable Kloof Street and take a guided walk or an open-top bus trip through the city.

Lakeside boasts splendid panoramic views of the Constantia Winelands, Devils Peak, and False Bay.

The suburb is just a few minutes away from Constantia wine route, providing an opportunity to experience some of the Cape's world-class, award-winning wines. This gorgeous valley is the origin of South Africa's flourishing and world-renowned wine making industry.

There are also several first-class golf courses in the area which will delight any golf lover. For those visitors seeking slightly more active pursuits, activities such as hiking, mountain biking and water sports are always available.

Music Review: Tashi Wada with Yoshi Wada and Friends - FRKWYS Vol. 14 - Nue

Tashi Wada with Yoshi Wada and Friends FRKWYS Vol. 14 - Nue [RVNG Intl.; 2018] Rating: 3/5 Yoshi Wada’s music typically unspools in hyper slow motion. His most monumental works — the ones that cast him, alongside La Monte Young, as one of the preeminent drone pioneers of the mid-20th century — are durational masterpieces that flirt with the eternal and explore the complexities of resonance in groundbreaking ways. His son, Tashi Wada, has picked up the latter element of his father’s music and expounded on it in various contexts. His compositions are often focused on exploring relationships between individual tones and accentuating how seemingly simple elements can contain multitudes. The minute details of how each sound or pitch interacts with others are at the center of how both generations of Wadas compose. On Nue, their first recorded full-length collaboration after years of performing together live, Tashi and Yoshi add another layer of relational exploration: one between themselves and their collaborators. Bringing in a collection of contemporary musicians from Julia Holter to Corey Fogel, they have expanded the scope of their work, but in doing so have lost some of the nuance that has made their music vital. Music constructed to explore the subtle intricacies of sound works best when listeners are allowed to stay inside that world for extended periods of time. Slow development allows for a dramatic arc that mirrors the refinement of the ideas being presented, a concept Yoshi Wada took to ingenious extremes in works like Earth Horns With Electronic Drone. But on Nue, Tashi and the ensemble present ideas, many of which merit much greater extrapolation, but let them dissipate before they seem fully developed. “Double Body” opens slowly with a sparse pulse of bass drum by accomplished percussionist Corey Fogel before being joined by a quiet synth drone by Julia Holter and a duet of arresting chanter (a bagpipe-related wind instrument) by Tashi and Yoshi. Each element is expertly placed, especially as Fogel adds a scattered rimshot to the mix, but the development feels rushed, as the chanters build to a climax of beautifully clustered tones within two minutes and drop off almost immediately after its reached. Similarly on “Mutable Signs,” Holter’s voice emerges out of murky synth patterns with a triumphant, dazzling melody that seems inspired by pre-baroque religious music, but it’s quickly subsumed by the electronics and the piece ends shortly thereafter. FRKWYS Vol. 14 - Nue by Tashi Wada with Yoshi Wada and Friends Despite these seemingly truncated tracks, there are several fully-formed compositions that work well on this smaller scale. “Ondine,” which draws its power from the stacking of voices and sirens, features Holter along with guest vocalists Simone Forti, Jessika Kenney, and Laura Steenberge. The piece is driven by the dissonance of close-proximity tones that begin with uncomfortable murmurs, growing into a chorus of shifting clusters that slide in and out of complex harmonic patterns. “Niagara,” the piece that directly follows it, also expresses a complete climactic arc, which relies heavily on Fogel’s expressive drumming in concert with a slowly-evolving synthesizer pattern dancing around a static, reedy drone. “Fanfare” sees Tashi channeling Terry Riley on the Prophet-6, running modal figures up and down, while Yoshi provides a bedrock bagpipe drone, showing a contrasting aspect of Tashi’s compositional skill that isn’t displayed elsewhere on the album. There is an obvious synergy between Tashi and Yoshi Wada on Nue, and the father and son establish a dynamic that is more diverse and malleable than any of their prior recording work. They have also chosen their collaborators well, especially Fogel, whose rhythmic explorations provide color more than a steady rhythmic backbone. But the album doesn’t flow as a connected suite of compositions and lacks a distinctive centerpiece that can act as a gravitational center around which the less momentous compositions can revolve. The substantive musical ideas, of which there are plenty, by and large seem transient and unprobed, and their liberal use of fade-outs seems to suggest that these were originally longer compositions. Tashi and Yoshi Wada are singular musical thinkers, and Nue is certainly a worthwhile entry into their respective discographies, but deeper explorations of their ideas would have made it truly momentous rather than fleetingly tentative. http://j.mp/2Oxk5PC
