Then my friend Erin invited me on a 2-week trip to Havana. The first thing I noticed in Havana was that the city was dark at night. There were no streetlights, porch lights or living-room lamps. It was pitch black except for the faint colorful glow spilling out of open doors everywhere, and it came from the TVs. The light captivated me. For the next two weeks I wandered around, slipping in and out of strangers’ living rooms. Each time I came across an open door and a working TV set, I would ask if I could take a picture. The answer was always yes. Nobody seemed to think it was an odd request and it was usually accompanied by a Cuban coffee or rum.” Simone Lueck

There aren’t a lot of people doing animated political web-series 

Mark Fiore has been at it for years and in 2010 won a pulitzer for it. 

Ann Telnaes makes animated political gifs.

Tim Luecke uses adobe character animator to do live animated bits with Cartoon Trump and God. It’s way better than the Simpsons attempt at live animation

John Stewart couldn’t figure out how to do a topical animated political series for HBO

9 years ago Ted Rall and I tried to do a weekly animated political webseries on literally no budget. Rall wrote and provided voices and character designs. I animated, drew backgrounds, edited, and added sound effects. We weren’t able to monetize it. 

The Nib’s new animated series is great! and you need to watch it! I truly hope it’s able to succeed where we could not. 

It’s animated by professional animators at Augenblick studios of Superjail, Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans, and these hilarious Golden Age shorts and features professional voice actors James Adomian(Bernie in Trump Vs. Bernie) who has a Simpsons voice actor level range of characters and Rachel Butera (Harvey Beaks and Trip Tank) 

animated webseries are tough. It’s hard enough to produce them, but it’s even harder to make them go somewhat viral. 

Many people loved Rocko’s Modern Life as a kid.Remember the 90s? Creator Joe Murray tried to create an animated web series Frog In A Suit  animated by Jantze Studio  featuring Jill Talley, Carlos Alazraqui, and Tom Kenny from Rocko’s Modern Life. He was able to Kickstart over $20,000 enough to make 3 episodes, but the series didn’t attract enough viewers for Murray to be able to make more.

Channel Frederator (Bravest Warriors by Pen Ward of Adventure Time, Bee and Puppycat, and Super Fuckers by James Kochalka)
