Naomi: Come on, boss. You can't still be mad. A girl's got to eat, and this internship barely pays. Okay, I attempted to sell stolen reaping data to the highest bidder. I would've gotten away with it if not for your online shopping addiction!

Grim: And don't forget that §100 will come out of your meager paycheck. Now, you're strictly on clerical duty until you've proven you can be trusted.

Naomi: But, boss-

Grim: No reapings. No exceptions. No talking back.

Sam And Catarina

"Are you sure you're comfortable with this, Teo?" Sam asked his son over breakfast. "It's okay if you have complicated feelings. We can talk about them."

"I don't. It's fine. Mom died, Dad, and she was a lot older than you. She would want you to get out there."

"That's true."

"I don't know that she imagined you'd pick the crazy cat lady, but hey, love is love."

"I don't love her, Teo. It's a single first date."

"Don't bring home any fleas. I hear they're hard to get rid of."

"You are so funny. Absolute barrel of laughs, kid."

"I know, I'm damn funny."

Catarina had recently undergone a makeover. Sam was surprised it was even the same person. She looked significantly less erratic without the cat ears and vintage make-up. Actually, she looked down-right cute.

"You look great," he said when they sat down.

"Thank you. Siggy said the orange went well with my skin tone, but he's biased as you know."

"Siggy is the new cat, yes?"

"Yes, yes." Her chin dipped with each yes, a brilliant smile scrawled across her face. "You remembered!"

"Of course I did. I listen when you speak."

"Yes, yes." Again her chin bobbed. "I like that about you. You are a great listener."

"I like how interesting you are. I'm never bored when you show up."

"People find me weird. You don't seem bothered by that."

Sam shrugged. "Nothing to be bothered by. I value authenticity."

"I am weird, you know. I embrace it."

"I was a loser my entire high school career. Frankly until I met my wife and cleaned up my life for us. Weird feels more comfortable."

Catarina gave a tinkling giggle that wrinkled her nose in the cutest of ways. "Do you want to dance? Let's go dance."

"I'd like to see you again," Sam said when they were parting ways. "I had a great time with you."

"I'll have to check our schedules, but I think we could do that."

Catarina shared exactly one trait with Billie; they were both comfortable in the authenticity of themselves. After all the years he'd spent hiding from his pain and the truth of the mess that was inside, there was something freeing about being around someone who wasn't afraid to be messy out loud.

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 10 (Ambushed at Work by Nancy Landgraab)

Heather kept her head down and worked hard in the coming months. It was a matter of pride that she made Brindleton Pawspital a five-star destination for pets and their owners, and she had a ways to go yet. But she also dedicated herself to completing her mobile app, VetConnect, to give pet owners who couldn’t make it to Brindleton the highest quality remote veterinary care.

Once the app was published it took off, and she started generating royalties while her notability increased. But just like in high school she wasn’t a big fan of programming, and turned down offers to design more apps for other industries so she could focus on her clinic and managing the one employee she could yet afford.

Marcus Flex was a party boy who said he wanted to settle down and learn a trade. He loved animals and she was all too happy to bring him on, but his lack of dedication to work in general left plenty to be desired.

She was working late one night when Nancy Landgraab walked in, her heels clipping the tile as she found Heather in an exam room with Precious Harms. A littermate of her family’s dog, Bernadette, Precious had been adopted by former Henford grocer, Abby Goldbloom, and the old creature keeper, Hayes Harms.

Heather was yet to meet Malcolm’s mother, and she looked every bit as intimidating as she expected. She straightened her back. "I'm surprised the CEO of their parent company came by before anyone from Petcare dropped in to visit the clinic," she said, her sarcasm more than evident to clever Nancy.

She laughed with a sharpness that sounded fake. "The head of Petcare can focus on the rest of their clinics; I have a 'pet' interest in the only one owned by my son’s girlfriend."

Heather’s stomach dropped.

Nancy watched Heather work and she felt the scrutiny - especially after she had to change her scrubs when Precious got sick on her (twice!), but her years of study in her teens had paid off. Heather was a pro and could diagnose pets while keeping them calm better than many with years more experience. Abby Goldbloom Harms told Nancy she was the best vet Brindleton had seen in years while she paid her bill, but Nancy never pulled the scowl from her lips.

"I'm having a dinner party at the penthouse and you'll be there. Malcolm insisted."

"Uh- okay...Should I bring something?"

"Like what? Dog treats?" She laughed at her own snide joke, her eyes travelling the length of Heather in her scrubs with a judgmental glare. "We have chefs. Just bring yourself."

Nancy was extending an order more than an invitation, and Heather started fretting her planned evening with the Landgraabs almost immediately. ->

Cats around Whiskerman's Wharf know where to go for a meal. Catarina and her 4 roommates open their home to any cats in need. A big crafter, her home is full of half-finished projects and DIY renovations. She unapologetically enjoys life and she's not afraid to be herself. But maybe she can finally find a human friend to spend time with who isn't allergic to cats.
