LAUREN Hi! Hope I'm not interrupting?

JAKE Nah, I just didn't expect you to call. 

LAUREN I needed a break from studying anyway. The apartment looks great, I especially like the living area. Is it all finished now?

JAKE Pretty much! Everyone's helped out: Sawyer, and Margo, and August, and Vanessa - you remember Vanessa Weingarten?

LAUREN The girl you dated in high school?

JAKE I didn't date her in high school!

LAUREN Oh, my bad - the girl you volunteered with and had a huge crush on when you were in high school?

JAKE How many nice points do you have again?

LAUREN Ten, why?

JAKE Just checking! How is college?

LAUREN It's good! I like the classes so far - there's a lot of reading, but it's not a huge step up from AP. And there's so much to do on campus! 

JAKE That's cool. What about the people, you made any friends?

LAUREN A lot of the students in my dorm are freshmen too. I think they went to the same high school, they all know each other.

JAKE Oh! Does it make you feel excluded?

LAUREN Not at all! I just have a feeling like everybody is dating everybody, but they're very chill about it. There's no weird drama, which you'd expect, you know?

JAKE Yeah...you want in on the action?

LAUREN I mean, maybe? I'm good watching from the sidelines just now. I'm still figuring out who is whose cousin.

JAKE It's like the Griffins in Elsewhere!

LAUREN It's exactly like the Griffins in Elsewhere! ...I can't believe in about to be related to the Griffins.

JAKE I'm about to be thrice related to the Griffins!

LAUREN What's the third time?

JAKE My sister is getting married to Margo's brother!

LAUREN Oh yeah, I forgot! When's the wedding?

JAKE ...Soon?

LAUREN Do you mean you don't know!

JAKE I don't remember! They've been planning for so long I forget when it actually is!

LAUREN Oh my plum!

JAKE Is August going? 

LAUREN I don't know. How big is the wedding party?

JAKE It is family only, but Del did ask me about a plus one, and that must extend to all siblings. So Margo is probably bringing August.

LAUREN Oh, then Margo is definitely bringing August. Are you bringing your girlfriend?

JAKE Naaah...

LAUREN Is it okay to ask?

JAKE Well, I haven't introduced her to Mom and Dad, and I feel like my sister's wedding is not the time, you know?

LAUREN Yeah, no, I get it.

JAKE And like. I don't know what the long-term plan there is.

LAUREN Oh.

JAKE It's fine. We just. Need to talk, I guess. 

LAUREN Right. Plus. There's Vanessa Weingarten.

JAKE Stop!
