"Asleep in the Air" (Charon x Silver)

"Can I practice carrying you?" Charon's voice echoed in the middle of the classroom as everyone else began to leave.

"Huh?" Silver frowned slightly. "Carry? Carry who?"

"Carry you," Charon replied briefly, before slowly bending down.

Silver blinked a few times. "…Why do you need to carry me?"

"In case it's necessary in the future," Charon continued in their calm voice. "Like when you injure your leg, or lose energy, or if you faint in the middle of the street."

"Oh…" Silver nodded, as if he understood, but still looked confused. "...But I'm not fainting, though."

"Just practicing," Charon said, and without waiting for any more questions, they lifted him into their arms in a princess carry.

"Whoa, hey!? Wait a minute!" Silver cried out, his arms reaching around their neck in panic, before gradually calming down. "I'm floating. I'm really floating."

Charon sighed quietly, walking around the room with confidence. "As I said, it's just practice."

Less than a minute later, Silver fell silent. Charon glanced down at him.

…And they found that Silver had actually fallen asleep in their arms. His face looked... peaceful? Like a little kitten that had just played until it was exhausted.

"..." Charon paused for a moment before allowing a faint smile to tug at the corner of their lips. "Didn't even have time to sing a lullaby."

Silver’s breathing remained steady and calm. He had fallen asleep, fully trusting, because he knew that he was in the arms of someone who would never let him fall.

Notes/rambling below cut.

This takes place post Book 7. I am not entirely sure I grasp the specifics of Silver's UM in the identifying dreamer with a bird sense and the logics of darkness characters and dream outfits. Just assume some kind of lucid dreaming here and roll with it if I broke canon haha.

This be one of the ghost! Skullys.

He's not keeping Yuu asleep in the Malleus sense, just helping Yuu dream of something happy since they get stress dreams and Overblot nightmares a lot. Their idea of happy is apparently their friends being fellow human schoolmates in their world and never having been isekaied. (Grim is a sassy but otherwise normal cat they own at home. It functions more like high school than college because Yuu isn't sure what a normal world college experience is like). Yuu wakes up, forgets Skully's existence and their dreams, lives the day, goes to bed, and Skully helps set up their boring slice of life dreamscape again

Overall benign but Skully's vibes are still too suspicious for Silver though lol. I think Skully would have kept the schoolmate/just a dream character guise if Silver didn't immediately try to fight him. In Silver's defense, Skully did glare.

Had this thought before I read book 7 but I like to think this is validating. From Book 7 Ch 111. Ghostly Oneiromancy go brr.

Skully's relationship with Yuu is platonic.

I think Silver's stumbled in Yuu's dreams before Skully came around but they both forgot

I think the 6 panels with Silver and Yuu are fun. Either Yuu sees Silver and greets him first or they're parallel which means Silver smiles first.

Left a little longer and Yuu might realize "Oh Silver's here" means "Oh I'm dreaming" and immediately wake up.

I imagine that Skully lived a whole life then died, but looks like a student because he really wished he could have been friends and had a fun school life with the NBC event boys . So I suppose him crashing Yuu's dreams/helping Yuu dream of a normal life may not be entirely altruistic then, but I would still like to think that is secondary to giving some comfort to the kid who was your friend lifetimes ago and who has not been having an easy time since getting spirited away to twisted wonderland

Alternative possible reasons for him looking young/relatively the same:

I do not know how to draw an older version of a character

Ghosts may be kind of immortal but their memory isn't. The Ramshackle Ghosts are blobs. Skully's painting was of him still relatively young so that's the appearance he assumes.

Actively trying to monitor Yuu in their dream and the easiest way to blend in is to just look like that so he's in their classes and such. Somewhere in Yuu's subconscious, Yuu remembers Skully being a friendly presence so there being another member in the friend group doesn't stick out.

isn't it wild that even though silver (and sebek!!) are canonically buff and strong, they're barely represented that way in-game? maybe the PE uniform cards depicted that well, but everything else just nerfs their god-given right to beefy glory... also people need to make more content of cheeky silver. it's canon. he's so blunt sometimes lol

A love triangle with Silver and Sebek is messyyy.. Their ways of showing affection are so different that it’s hard to choose!

Sebek is hopelessly in love, but he indulges in it because he respects you. He may be a little inexperienced, but if anything he’s confident in his abilities. There’s been enough dating advice and cheesy novels shoved onto him by his siblings to fill diasomnia’s lounge,, So he promises to put it to good use and romance you properly!

Hopeless!Sebek that’s always holding doors open for you, and escorting you home after school <33 He doesn’t outright tell you that somethings changed- but he calls you by name, and speaks to you much softer. To his knowledge nobody else yearns for you as he does, so he wants to take his time.

Silver’s much better at being strategic, but don’t let him fool you! He’s even worse than Sebek, just the right amount of longing mixed with a lack of common interests makes poor, hopeless!Silver :( He’s so nice whenever you happen upon him, but that’s just it, he has no anvenue to build a connection! So he makes one.

Hopeless!Silver isn’t totally out yet, it’s lucky that he’s figured out Sebek’s game, and not the other way around. He tags along shamelessly whenever the freshman invites you out, and uses it to win you over. He’s worked his way up from putting your hair place to napping on your lap IN PUBLIC. Sebek’s totally put off now that he knows Silver is in direct competition, and they get so petty.

Being hopeless and in love is rough for the both of them- and it’s much less like a “why choose” and more like a “CHOOSE NOW”. But they’ll respect your decision whether you choose one or neither, so I hope you’ll pick with your heart!

Sleeping Beauty

What seemed to be a small alchemy accident turned into Silver being put into a deep slumber. Professor Crewel tries his best to search for a cure, but to no avail.

“Maybe true love’s kiss is the answer. Kufufu~” Lilia suggested, looking at Yuu with a smug smile on his face.

So here Yuu was, by force, looking as Silver sleeping away peacefully in the infirmary. They might as well get it over with…

“...Am I really gonna do this…?” Yuu sighed, running a hand through their hair. They’ve always wanted to kiss their crush, but not like this.

Silver’s chest slowly rises up and down, seemingly calm and relaxed. Lilia chuckles to himself as Yuu stood by Silver’s side, a nervous sweat dripping down the side of their face.

“...If I do it can’t you at least like…turn around?” Yuu murmured shyly, looking back up at Lilia.

Lilia simply grinned at Yuu’s response and did just that. Turning around and waiting for their next move, seemingly excited to see how this would play out. “Just get it over with, deary.~”

Yuu swallowed hard, looking back down at Silver’s lips face. They hesitated, suddenly feeling their face getting extremely hot.

Silver continued to rest peacefully, oblivious to what was going to happen. His lips were slightly parted, making it easy for Yuu to do their thing. 

“...Hah…I can’t do this…” Yuu let out a small whine after losing to their inner turmoil, burying their face into their hands and plopping into a chair beside Silver’s bed.

Lilia couldn’t help but chuckle at Yuu’s shyness, finding it amusing. He looks over his shoulder and sees Yuu burying their face into their hands.

“Don’t tell me you’re still shy about kissing him?” Lilia smirked as he watched Yuu.

“Of course I am! This– I– ugh…this is too much.. Is this really the only solution…?”

Lilia lets out a sigh, shaking his head. He finds Yuu’s dilemma to be incredibly adorable, however, he was starting to grow impatient. He glances back over his shoulder once more, looking at their pouting face.

“Well, would you rather have him be in slumber forever?” He questioned, raising an eyebrow at them.

“...No…”  Yuu sighed stressed out of their mind.

Lilia grinned to himself, pleased with Yuu’s answer.

“Then what’s the problem? I thought you liked him?” He playfully teased, having found out about their crush on Silver.

“Th– I– hey!…this is different-!” Yuu protested, turning red.

Lilia laughs quietly to himself, knowing he hit the mark on their little crush on the Diasomnia student. It was obvious, after all, how much time they spent with Silver.

“Go on. You’re wasting time,” Lilia says with a smirk.

Yuu clenched their jaw, before gesturing for him to turn back around once more, standing up off the chair.

Lilia happily obliged, turning around once more and waiting expeectantly. He couldn’t wait to see how this would play out. After all he loved a good love story.

Yuu gulped, their stomach doing flips. They let out a shaky breath, leaning down to the sleeping figure, gently pressing their lips against Silver’s. It was nerve-wracking.

The second their lips touched Silver’s his eyes slowly began to flutter open, which initially made Yuu pull away faster than the speed of light. He slowly sat up, looking a little bit hazy himself. He looked confused as he looked around, trying to process what was going on.

“Huh? W-what in the…” Silver stammered his voice a bit raspy as he looked over at Yuu. The realization hit him hard, his eyes widening and a heavy blush spreading over his cheeks.

Yuu turned on their heel, becoming red once more, dashing out of the infirmary from pure embarrassment. 

“Ah! Wait, Yuu-!” Silver called out, but they were already long gone. He looked over at Lilia, who was just chuckling at the scene.

“What’s…going on? What happened?” Silver asked Lilia, a hint of bewilderment in his eyes. Silver tried to put the pieces together, unable to put the pieces together since his mind still a bit hazy.

“My my,” Lilia began, “You were put into a deep sleep by an alchemy incident. Nobody knew how to wake you up, but then I suggested the idea of a true love’s kiss. I never expected it to work, to be honest, seeing as you’re awake no,” Lilia says, crossing his arms.

Silver’s face turned light pink, processing the latter’s explanation. He touched his lips with the tips of his fingers, his heart fluttering as he remembered the brief feeling of Yuu’s soft lips on his. “I-I…see…” He stammered, avoiding Lilia’s gaze.

Lilia couldn’t help but chuckle, finding Silver’s reaction quite adorable. He shook his head, patting Silver on the shoulder. “You’re such an open book, you know that?” Lilia smirked, teasing the second year.

Meanwhile in the third year’s mind, Lilia was already planning the wedding.

SCENARIO: The morning sun shone down on Night Raven College as students prepared for Valentine’s Day. Classes had ended earlier than usual, and the hallways were filled with rumors of chocolates, a few confessions, and secret dates. Despite the general excitement for that day of remembering and sharing, you hadn’t planned anything special for that day. Or at least, that’s what you thought.

But he had been acting oddly suspicious since the night before. You’d noticed his furtive glances and failed attempts at hiding smiles whenever you came near. You knew he was up to something.

With Malleus Draconia, Lilia Vanrouge, Silver and Sebek Zigvolt

Malleus Draconia

Valentine's Day at Night Raven College always had its air of magic, but this year you felt a special tension in the air. Early on you had received a mysterious message that said, “Meet me at the Garden of Stars tonight.” You knew exactly who it was from: Malleus Draconia.

Night fell, and the moon illuminated with its silver light the path to the Garden of Stars, a hidden corner in the grounds of Night Raven College that only a few knew about. The flowers shone with an ethereal glow, and the trees rustled in the night breeze. There, under the largest tree in the garden, Malleus awaited you.

His tall, elegant figure stood out under the moonlight. His jet-black hair and signature horns gave him an imposing appearance, but his expression was soft. His emerald eyes looked at you with a mix of anticipation and something deeper.

“I’m glad you came,” he said in his calm tone, though you could notice a slight tremor of nervousness.

Malleus led you through the garden, showing how he had prepared everything especially for this night. He had summoned enchanted fireflies that floated around you, leaving a trail of golden light. Night flowers opened in their wake, releasing sweet scents that filled the air.

“Valentine’s Day is a curious concept,” he commented, looking up at the starry sky. “In the Briar Valley, we don’t celebrate this holiday. But after observing how they celebrate it here, I wanted to do something special for you.”

Your heart raced. Malleus, known for being reserved and distant, had planned all of this just for you.

You reached the center of the garden, where there was an ancient fountain that reflected the stars on its surface. Malleus stopped and looked you straight in the eyes.

“There is something I have wanted to tell you for a long time,” he said, his voice filled with solemn tenderness. “Ever since you came into my life, everything has changed. For the first time in centuries, I feel like I am not alone.”

His words were deep, laden with an emotion he rarely showed.

“You are the light that illuminates my darkness.”

You approached, touched by the sincerity in his eyes. Without saying a word, you took his hand.

“I feel the same way too, Malleus. I will always be by your side.”

For a moment, the whole world disappeared. There was only the two of you under the starry sky.

Malleus extended his hand again, this time in a silent invitation. Without music or words, you began to dance under the moonlight, accompanied only by the sound of the wind and the rustling of leaves.

Your steps were slow and careful, but each movement was full of meaning. Malleus held you with a mixture of devotion and reverence, as if he feared this moment might fade away.

“Thank you for accepting my invitation,” he murmured at the end of the dance.

You stayed in his arms, enjoying the calm and peace that only he could offer.

Lilia Vanrouge

Valentine's Day at Night Raven College was always full of surprises, but you could never foresee what Lilia Vanrouge would do. The morning began with a black envelope sealed with red wax that you had found on your nightstand. The message only read: “Get ready for an unforgettable day. I will wait for you in the Enchanted Forest.”

You dressed warmly and headed to the Enchanted Forest, a place known for its magical air and ancient aura in the surroundings of NRC. Upon arrival, Lilia was waiting for you under an arch of ancient trees, with his characteristic mischievous smile and a sparkle in his crimson eyes.

“Welcome!” he exclaimed, lightly jumping towards you. “I hope you are ready for the most memorable adventure of your life.”

Without giving you time to respond, he took your hand and led you to a clearing in the forest.

The first stop was a picnic in the heart of the forest. But, instead of a regular blanket, Lilia had summoned an enchanted floating tablecloth, which was suspended a few inches off the ground. The dishes were a mix of human delicacies and some unique Briar Valley creations that you didn’t quite recognize, but they tasted surprisingly good.

“You never know what you might discover when you venture off the beaten path,” Lilia commented with a smile.

After the picnic, he led you to a secret cave that only he knew about. The walls glowed with luminous stones, and the echo of his footsteps resonated in an almost musical manner.

“This cave is ancient, and they say that those who leave a wish here will receive a special blessing.”

With a knowing look, Lilia closed his eyes for a moment, leaving his own wish hanging in the air.

Back in the clearing, Lilia finally stopped and looked you straight in the eyes. For a moment, the mischievous expression he always wore softened.

“You may know me as someone playful and a little unpredictable,” he said, his smile more tender than usual. “But there’s something I’ve always wanted to tell you.”

He took your hands in his, his fingers light but firm.

“Ever since you came into my life, everything has become brighter. You are the spark that inspires me to be better every day.”

Your heart pounded at his words.

“Lilia… I feel the same way too.”

The sparkle in his eyes intensified, and in a spontaneous gesture, he lifted you into the air with ease, spinning you under the starry sky.

Without warning, ethereal music began to fill the clearing. You didn’t know where it came from, but it had a soft, lovely rhythm. Lilia took your hand again.

“There’s no better way to celebrate this day than with a dance.”

You danced under the moonlight, your movements light and full of joy. As the music faded, Lilia looked at you tenderly.

“I promise that no matter what happens, I will always create unforgettable moments for you.”

You stayed in his arms, enjoying the peace and happiness that only he could offer.

Silver

Everyone was running around with flowers, chocolates, and scented letters. However, you knew that Silver wasn’t one to be swept away by the loud festivities. His quiet, thoughtful nature set him apart from everyone else. So when you received a handwritten letter asking you to meet him in a secluded corner of the Diasomnia Dorm, your heart pounded in anticipation.

The sun was beginning to set when you arrived at the designated spot. The shadows of the trees danced gently in the breeze, and the air was filled with the scent of the season’s flowers. Silver was already there, standing by a wooden bench beneath a large oak tree. His silver hair shimmered in the golden light of the evening, and his expression was serene but attentive.

“I’m glad you came,” he said with a soft smile when he saw you approach.

He motioned for you to sit beside him, and the silence that followed was warm and comforting, like a soft blanket on a cold night. With Silver, no words were needed to feel the connection.

“Sometimes, days like today can be overwhelming,” he admitted, looking up at the sky as the sun faded beyond the horizon. “But I’ve always believed that love doesn’t need grandiose displays. It’s found in the simple, genuine moments.”

His words resonated with you. You knew Silver wasn’t one to open up easily, but when he did, each word held a special weight.

“Ever since I met you, every day has been calmer and more beautiful,” he continued, turning his head to look directly at you. “Your presence gives me peace.”

Your cheeks flushed at his sincerity, and before you could respond, Silver pulled something out of his pocket.

It was a simple yet elegant crescent moon-shaped pendant. It was handmade, and you could see the care in every detail.

“I made it myself,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck shyly. “I wanted to create something that would remind you how special you are to me.”

He put it around your neck, and the gesture was so soft and delicate that your heart melted.

“Thank you, Silver. It’s beautiful.”

The first stars began to shine in the sky, and Silver took your hand. His fingers were warm and firm.

“I want you to know that I will always be by your side, no matter what happens. You are my anchor in this world.”

The world seemed to stop as you looked into his eyes, seeing the sincerity and devotion reflected in them. In that moment, you knew that Silver’s love was constant and faithful, like the night sky that now covered them.

He leaned in slightly, and his lips brushed your forehead in a sweet gesture.

Sebek Zigvolt

I will write Sebek's part tomorrow, in a couple of hours, since I'm quite tired and I've already written too much these days, he's my favorite character so I'm going to give him what he deserves, just wait for it! <3
