Flotsam had a short list. He was getting it checked off all while adding events to it he never knew were exciting enough to write down.
Go to Blarney Castle
Kiss the Blarney stone
Steal plants from the Poison Garden
Add in WENT TO THE JEDI TEMPLES please and thank you very much and you're welcome.
Thomas Laveau was a God damned genius for that one. All hail the stone boobie gods slash beehive fortresses.
It was on to a new day though. It was babysitting day. That's what Flotsam was referring to it as even though they were getting grown adult visitors because of the way Caim spoke of them as his children. It was the chimera boy the Hellbird had a real protective demeanor about. He had a boring name, Adam. But, the demon was often religiously symbolic like that. Valerie recalled meeting the kid shortly at Caim's dinner, but it wasn't like they got to know him. Valerie also recalled him being rather quiet and moving like he was in pain and having a cover on his nose.
"If he has the other guy to watch him I wonder why Caim wants us to watch him too?"
The other guy. That was Silvain, the one that actually wanted to come see the Titanic display. Much like Bastien, much like Eeyore, Silvain had a hobby of similar mindsets. Silvain was a self professed tragedy collector. He would tell almost anyone he met he collected tragedies if they asked him what his hobbies were. The Titanic was one of his favorites. So of course when Caim mentioned his dear friends the Laveaus going Silvain suddenly needed to go too. This caused a whole ruckus in which Caim found himself simply calling Flotsam right up about it. Watch my people. I got shit to do. Where Flo found himself saying okay then. Cool. Sure thing.
Silvain and Adam are best buds and have been for years. Caim doesn't trust them alone or as far as a ten foot pole. This is why he loves them. Their chaos is grand, but with both their lives so fragile Caim doesn't want their souls getting into another demon's hands when they croak, not for a second. So this overprotectiveness has to do with their soul contracts, and one lack thereof. Flotsam doesn't understand any of this, but what he does know is they feel they owe that demon a big debt for helping them with the gender change and having kids, so a little babysitting for a day for the guy's chimera kid and his pale friend with the red eyes while they're at a museum doesn't seem like such a big favor to him. What's a little extra company?
The two were conversing outside the museum waiting for Laveaus as instructed when Flotsam caught the sight of them. They were both so different. If they hadn't come from Nola their appearance might have given them a double take.
While Adam was working the kink out of his shoulder Silvain approached. He handed Flotsam a letter with Caim's seal in wax.
Flotsam glanced over at Thomas and decided they should open it before going further in case it was instructions for the day. He broke the seal and leaned so Thomas could read it at the same time as him.
"Dear Laveaus,
Thank you for taking care of my family today. I'm counting on you to see their bodies get back to me. If for any reason they should perish in your presence pray instantly to alert me. Do not hesitate. Hesitation is bad.
Silvain knows Adam's medication schedule. If for any reason something happens to his pack with his supplies due to damage or human or supernatural interreference, pray. This is the fastest way to alert me of any emergency.
If for any reason Silvain perishes without Adam I've attached his medication schedule in case you have to continue without him.
Thank you again, President Caim
PS. If Adam does bite anyone there's antivenom to use in the med pack if you think they deserve it. I leave that solely up to your discretion."
Flotsam's lip drew down and had a hard time not laughing, but he held it in. "Fun." His eyes shifted over to Thomas passed his kids again. "So, who's up for Celine Dion cheesiness all over true remnants of historical tragedy?"
Two of the newbie hands went flying up like me, me, me. Then little baby hands were waving around. Maybe it was a coincidence and weren't really doing it for that, but Flotsam decided they were.
"Votes are in, Dad. They want to go in too. What do you think?"

Know of any science fiction books not centered on romance??
Sure! My favorite genre!
Dune by Frank Herbert
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Sleeping Giants by Silvain Neuvel
Iris by Andrew Gates
Cinder by Merissa Meyer
The Man in the High Castle by Phillip K. Dick
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel
The Space Between the Stars by Anne Corlett
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
I am Radar by Reif Larsen
The Martian by Andy Weir
Redshirts by John Scalzi
Anything by Isaac Asimov; Ray Bradbury; H.G. Wells; Arthur C. Clark...
I tried to get as many different kinds of Scifi in there as possible. Some have relationships, but they’re not at the focal point of the novel. (hey, maybe I should plug my own novel, Starstruck by S.E. Anderson!).
Happy reading, and ped aspera, ad astra!

11TH OF APRIL IN ARSENAL HISTORY........ On this day 1891 Royal Arsenal were back at Leyton's ground to play Old Carthusians in the London Charity Cup final. After two previous matches finished in a draw on the 4th and the 8th it was settled today. Peter Connolly scored for the Royals but Old Carthusians won the trophy by two goals to one. It was one of the regular revenue boosting friendlies with local rivals Millwall Athletic today in 1896. Goals from Bob Buchanan and Patrick O'Brien gave Woolwich Arsenal a 2-2 draw at the Manor Ground. 6,000 turned out out in Plumstead today in 1898 for the visit of Burton Swifts. Two goals from David Hannah and one from Adam Haywood made it a 3-0 victory for Woolwich Arsenal in Division 2. The club's second ever manager took charge today for the first time. William Elcoat (not his brother George as the Arsenal website still states), made complete changes to playing staff during his one season in charge but by the next season under Frank Bradshaw only two of those players survived, goalkeeper Roger Ord and centre back John Dick. 1903 and today Woolwich Arsenal were at Filbert Street to take on Leicester Fosse. It ended in a 0-2 win for the Gunners thanks to the goals of John Coleman and William Gooing. Woolwich Arsenal were at Muntz Street today in 1908 for their Division 1 fixture against Birmingham. Harold Lee and Charles Lewis saved the day with their goals making it a 1-2 victory for the Arsenal. At the Manor Ground today in 1910 Woolwich Arsenal took on the already Championship winning side Aston Villa. Charles McGibbon got the only goal of the day for a 1-0 win to the Gunners. There were protestations from other clubs that Aston Villa had played a reserve side giving Arsenal an advantage but it was enough to avoid relegation as it meant we finished 18th out of 20 with the bottom two going down. It was a trip to Elland Road on this date in 1914 to play Leeds City. Leeds City were later expelled from the league for financial irregularities and went out of existence. With no major club left in the city, Leeds United were formed. On this day however 22,000 turned out for what ended in a 0-0 draw. Leeds were managed by one Herbert Chapman and this is believed to be the first time that Arsenal owner Henry Norris and Chapman met and the pivotal day that Norris saw the man he wanted in London. On this day in 1919 Henry Norris wrote an open letter complaining about the behaviour of the London Combination’s committee, in relation to their holding an appeal hearing without him present to represent Arsenal’s position. As has been mentioned in previous history posts the issue was all over Fulham playing ineligible players in a match against Arsenal. Deepdale was the venue today in 1925 and Arsenal didn't have their scoring boots on so Preston North End took advantage and won the match 2-0. Jack Lambert was on target at Blundell Park today in 1931. That was enough for a 0-1 Arsenal win over Grimsby Town. At Ayresome Park today in 1936 Ray Bowden and Cliff Bastin scored in front of 31,006 spectators to earn a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough. For two players this would their final time in an Arsenal shirt. Centre forward James Dunne (picture top left) was one. He had joined from Sheffield United in 1933 for £8,250. He played 33 times for the club scoring 13 times. Most of his appearances and goals came in the 1933/1934 season but with the signing of Ted Drake in 1934 his opportunities became less and less. He left to join Southampton for a fee of £2,000 in July of this year. The other playing taking his Arsenal bow was Frank 'Tiger' Hill. Hill joined from Aberdeen in 1932 costing £3,000 and the right half back played 81 times contributing 4 goals. He left the club later in this year for Blackpool, later played for Southampton, after retirement he was a coach in Baghdad, Iraq, returned to England and managed Notts County and Charlton Athletic (among others) and finished his career in football as a scout for Manchester City. He moved his family to Lafayette, California, U.S.A. and opened a Fish and Chip shop. He died there in 1993 aged 87. In the London War Cup today in 1942 Arsenal were at the Goldstone Ground to take on Brighton & Hove Albion. A goal from Ted Drake and a brace from Denis Compton made it a 0-3 victory for the Gunners. 50,445 fans had little to cheer today at Bloomfield Road as the match between Blackpool and Arsenal ended in a 0-0 draw. The Gunners were in Wales on this day in 1955. Arsenal beat Cardiff City 1-2 at Ninian Park with goals from Jimmy Bloomfield and Doug Lishman. At Highbury today in 1959 a Gerry Ward goal earned Arsenal a 1-1 draw with Chelsea. Arsenal's Tommy Docherty was unavailable for selection as he was away winning his 25th and final international cap for Scotland. Despite goals from John MacLeod and Alan Skirton today in 1962 Arsenal suffered a hefty 5-2 defeat at the hands of Fulham at Craven Cottage. The 26,164 spectators at Highbury on this date in 1964 endured a 0-0 draw between Arseanl and Blackburn Rovers. When Arsenal went to the Hawthorns today in 1966 they took a 1-4 lead over West Bromwich Albion with goals from George Armstrong, Tommy Baldwin (2) and John Radford. Then due to uncharacteristic mistakes from Ian Ure and others the Gunners threw it all away to finish the match 4-4. At Selhurst Park on this day in 1972 it ended in another draw for the Arsenal. Alan Ball and John Radford scoring the goals that made it 2-2 with Crystal Palace. On this day in 1977 Malcolm Macdonald was the Highbury hero as he got the only goal of the match in Islington against the shitty Middlesex side from down the road. 'One nil to the Arsenal' was the cry and the bragging rights were ours. Liam Brady's goal at Loftus Road today in 1978 turned out to be mere consolation as Queens Park Rangers scraped a 2-1 victory. Leeds United were at Highbury on this date in 1981 where they drew 0-0 with Arsenal. A crowd of 29,339 would have to be satisfied with a point each. Paul Davis and Martin Hayes both scored today in 1987 to finally give Arsenal fans something to cheer about. the 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic was the first win in eleven matches, in the previous ten games the Gunners had managed just two goals. For the first time in a while, the majority of the 26,111 Highbury spectators left in happy mood. 1990 and today the visitors to north London were Aston Villa and the Villans had the nerve to steal a 0-1 win over Arsenal. A good day for the Highbury faithful today in 1992. Kevin Campbell scored and Paul Merson (picture bottom left) hit a hat trick to give the Gunners a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace. It was the start of a five match run to the end of the season in which Arsenal scored 15 goals. Into the Premiership era and on this day in 1998 Nicolas Anelka struck twice and Patrick Vieira weighed in with a goal for a 3-1 win over Newcastle United at Highbury. For Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger (picture top right) that Newcastle goal was a bitter disappointment. It ended his record run of eight consecutive clean sheets. Arsenal took on Manchester United today in 1999 in the FA Cup semi-final. Villa Park was the neutral ground where 39,217 fans packed in only to see a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes and no goals in extra time. In three days time the two sides would be back in Birmingham to try again. New academy starlet Martin Graiciar (picture middle right) was born today in 1999 in the Czech Republic. After much publicised talks the 15 year old finally signed for the club in January 2015. No surprise to hear from the youngster that his favourite player was compatriot Tomas Rosicky. Back to the Premier League and today in 2001 Arsenal were at Maine Road to face Manchester City. The Gunners had fun, Silvain Wiltord scored, Nwankwo Kanu popped one in and Freddie Ljungberg helped himself to two for 0-4 win over a pre-oil money City. Off to St James' Park today in 2004. Arsenal got their third 0-0 draw out of four in the undefeated season. Arsenal got a comfortable 1-4 win over Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium on this date in 2009. Theo Walcott, Mikael Silvestre and Andrei Arshavin all scored and Alex Song (picture bottom right) got his first ever goal for the club. Finally, Walcott was on target again on this day in 2012 just after a Robin van Persie penalty and loanee Yossi Benayoun scored in the second half. The match at Molineux ended Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-3 Arsenal. http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2012/04/11/wolves-vs-arsenal-0-3-highlights-2012-van-persie-walcott-benayoun-goals-video-bassong-red/comment-page-1/

"Couldn't agree more." Adam said. Humans. Bah.
Silvain shirked. He had a bias against demons more, but he had his reasons. Adam understood. Caim was his exception to the rule. Even that was a shakey relationship.
"Oh good. I got worried." Flotsam grinned.
He got worried it ruined the shot. Of course this was Flotsam's big worry. He saw right away his children were safe. Thomas was soothin his son down. He cared notta for the person on the floor or the consequences thereof. Just did they get the shot? That's all that mattered. Thomas was love and a genius phone director. He did!
"I love you."
He let out a big sigh of appraisal and eyebrow quirk of mishcheivous love. Thomas seemed to think it was time to go.
"You sure? You don't want a go first? Just a quick snap?"
Oh Flotsam.
He'd wait for Thomas's answer and get a pic of him on the stair if he so thought they could spare the time.
"Make haste." Silvain said but as he did so quite deliberately stepped away making sure to mess with the electronics in the next room. He waved them on like a distraction trying to keep any watchers blind as they moved along.
Straight to the gift shop at that point not testing more waters. Adam headed straight for the exit as he had blood on his mouth. Silvain went for the list of shopping he had memorized in his head and as much as Flotsam would have enjoyed browsing he figured he better stick with Caim's kid. He wasn't about to let him get accidentally picked up by coppers in a country he didn't know anything about. Flo wasn't even in the mood to deal with that. But, he had one hand on the stroller bar and one hand in his pocket ready to pull zombie dust in case anything were to go down. But, somehow by the seat of their pants they'd skim this one just barely without being questioned while people were busy flocking to the person's side for medical care. Their little Titanic tourism party was skipping out. They saw all the good stuff by then anyhow.
Outside the amazing and bizarre geometric building Silvain would finally catch up to them with a bag of goodies for everyone. This would include those hearts of the ocean Valerie wanted, books for Thomas, all sorts of goodies.
"We did Titanic. One more tragedy collected. It really is one of my favorites."
Adam gave him a little nudge seeing how happy it made Silvain to have gotten to go. He knew this was a big deal that Caim let them come together and wouldn't have if these two didn't say yes. So, Adam added his own thanks, "Yeah, thankssss again for bringing usss. Letting usss come along."
Flotsam gave them the no problem nod as they kept walking trying to put as much distance between the building and them as possible just in case. The pictures on the staircase were no longer an issue. A chimera boy biting a guy with venom and down for the count however? The guy nearly ruining their photo moment and upsetting Stark. Flotsam did not leave any of Caim's antivenom behind. Maybe Thomas found mercy for the poor guy, but it didn't cross Flo's mind. He was just glad Adam did it before Stark changed.
That said he was very thankful for Adam and he was rather curious of the pair. Flo knew he was supposed to call for them to be picked up after the museum, but a little part of him wanted to thank them proper. Something. Maybe it was silly, but he saw a street vendor selling Blaa, whatever the Hell that was. So, he offered up to hang a little longer by the car and have some Blaa as a thank you for intervening help with the kids. Flotsam ordered his with bacon always and ever with a faint thought of Zeke in the back of his mind when he did it.
Flo noticed Silvain bending down and playing with the kids while he ate his instead of standing up to converse with the adults. Ever taking notes on people. It made him think back to the first time he saw the guy and Bastien was there. They acted like they knew one another. Valerie's life had been so busy having children and more. She hadn't had time to stop and think or put anything together. So, as their day winded down and there was no museum to distract he started a conversation as they ate their Blaa near the car.
"How do you know Bastien Bellerose?"
"Oh, we were in hospital together. Asylum."
"Oh, I see. Were you there at the same time as Robin Hood?"
"No. It wasn't the same one."
"Oh, okay. Noted." Noted Bastien's been through a lot. Apparently so has this guy. Damn. "Small world though. We all meet again."
"Yeah, I was happy to see him." Silvain kept focusing on the kids as he spoke down making faces at them.
"You're good with kids."
"I like kids."
"He like kids a lot." Adam rolled his eyes as if it was annoying.
Silvain noticed and rolled his right back and said, "They're the only ones that weren't afraid of me. Especially in my last transformation when I had no human-like form to phase to. They were all I had when it came to the human world. Humans feared me. But not children. They liked to play."
"I know. I know. Well, you have a humanoid form now." Adam groaned as if he needed to let it go. But, that was a grudge he couldn't let go of, not after what happened with the demons and the Silver Bridge.
Flotsam's brows furrowed in. He was connecting dots. Everything in him wanted to ask a thousand questions but also didn't want the guy to feel like he was under an interrogation. "I thought you were going to say the circus or something like that since Caim mentioned you have an act."
"Nope. We do have one though. Adam's the knife thrower. I'm the target. It's side show work when Caim lets us and Adam's up to it. He has his good days and bad days."
"Today'ssss a good day." Adam chimed in. "I play bassss in my dad'sss Fabulousssss Freak Show Band too. I know tthe name is corny. But, it fitsss the show. We only play for Dad'ssss magic bird show. You guysss should ssssee it sometime. Have you ssseen it?"
Thomas was cheesing it up, big smile. He couldn’t help it. Just seeing those chubby little baby arms coming out, pretending to be some sort of airplane. He couldn’t even attempt to be stoic and cool in that moment. Big grin, little tooth gap on display, crinkly dad eyes. He was loving this.
Even if Flotsam had been joking when he told their new friends to watch the children, protect them at all costs, Thomas was behind him, giving them a nod to show that he was serious about it. Protect those kids. Never know what could happen - an airplane could fall from the sky and crash land on them, active shooter that for some reason Thomas and Flotsam don’t notice first. Figaro could probably come up with a hundred and one horror-movie like scenarios. Those three come first.
Silvian got it.
With that done, he could focus on his husband now.
That goofy smile came right back, the seriousness melting off of him like sweat in a sauna. “Quite dapper, actually. The bowtie suits you.” Combined with the suspenders, it really was a whole look. DiCaprio who? Never heard of him. Flotsam Laveau was Jack Dawson now, with a better haircut, and way better at spitting too.
As if they were back in time, Thomas didn’t pay attention to the rest of their surroundings. Any of the security people. They didn’t exist in 1912. The only modern thing was the phone that was in his hand, recording everything. He stepped up a couple of steps, not going all the way up yet, camera tilted up towards Flotsam in that flattering angle, catching every swift motion in that turn, and then the grin. So focused, so blown away by the clock and the stairs and Flotsam’s entire being, it wasn’t until the moment was ruined - the thudding sound - that he realized anything had been amiss. And then it all hit him at once.
The smell of this security guard or whatever it was, lingering so close to his children. Silvian really had been the man for the task.
“Humans - the worst kind of people,” Thomas tutted, climbing off of the stairs and going to his children. He picked Stark up from the stroller and cradled him close to try to soothe his anger. But he did look towards Flotsam and the grin came back. “I got every second - and it’s sure to be good shots since they’re of you,” He winked. He stepped over the body on the ground, and then gave an appreciative nod towards Adam and Silvian. He already liked them but respect just went up ten points.
But there was the problem of the body. “Kinda doubt that we’ll get away with putting him in a chair and pretending he’s a mannequin. So - we should probably go.”

HC: Other Laveau Christmas Happenings
Crafts - always with the crafts these guys. Spider ornaments were the theme this year. They’d have enough beads and kaboodles for everyone, all their guests to sit around and make them in different colors, however they wanted to personalize their own.
Coloring pages. Hell yeah they had coloring book pages. Pft. As of Laveaus ever adult on Christmas. Forever doing silly things like this together. It’s what they do.
Since Babyface wasn’t going to be well prepared for Christmas due to all the being trapped stuff and unready due to mystery fog. When he makes his ornament he’s going to give his to Ellie. He’s going to color a page for them too and write their names on them. Texting is okay because autocorrect and he can take his time. Sitting next to her He’d keep looking up when he was writing a little self conscious still, “Merry Christmas, Love, Babyface” The words would be spelled right but some letters would be backwards or crooked not in alignment and running into other letters. Very odd spacing.
Dale’s fun contribution this year was decorating little bud trees with little bulbs and beads from the craft box like ornaments. Isn’t he a clever guy?
They’d get another unexpected guest to visit the triplets. He was kind enough to wait out a few days to give the family time and he didn’t show right on Christmas either, but he did show as Santa. Henry and codgers from the pub got their asses off their stools when Thaddeus delivered the news. Turns out it’s at times like these you find out who your friends are and even grumpy old muppets like the Laveaus. Thomas was probably just thankful they didn’t bring Thaddeus back with them.
Silvain and Adam brings the trips the mothman onsie when they came with Caim. When he does meet up with Bastien again he’s going to notice their bear theme with their kid and end up promising to get them one too even though he didn’t have one for them right then. It was too funny.
Willem would give Figaro the Have a Killer Christmas tee along with the Festive as Fuck sox. Also Feed me underwear with the monster alien plant on it. It reminded him of the rumors about her cryptid vagina at school a long time ago. Did it have it teeth? Did it not? Was it even a vagina? The world may never know. Not sure he would have had it with them, but with the portaling I’m sure they could jump around and get it. All good.
Willem didn’t have the shark tree topper until he got to NZ. But after meeting Balrog that was a must a Laveau family present. He didn’t originally have anything for them.

Silvain Atlas Acron is the creature from urban legend with the red eyes, the one and only mothman left in the world. He’s the one that took down the silver bridge in West Virginia and that Hollywood tells horror stories about, comics turn into plushie cuteness, and statues turn into butts of steel amazement the whole world wants a picture with. FC: Sean Patrick Flanery from his role in Powder only
Connections & Notes:
direct ties with demons - Indrid Cold (the men in black) and Caim among others
Double crossed by both
Best Friend is Caim’s “son” lab experiment chimera Adam
Works a circus act as a target in a knife show with Adam as gig work when Caim lets him out - so this is not full time work - he’s not well enough for that.
This will be a blast from the past of Bastien’s circus. Now they shall bump into each other again.
This means a connection to Frollo and the ones Bastien burnt to the ground.
Also when Delta figures out he’s literally the only monster like him there’s no way she won’t want him in her collection.
He’s going to go by Silvain - This is an adaptation to fit our story and don’t want to use his old name, but way too lazy to go thru and edit all the Atlas’s out. Just saying. lol.
Abilities Appearances: "A mothman is a humanoid creature, part man and part moth, over 6 foot tall with a 10 foot wingspan. They have bright glowing red eyes. In his human form Atlas’s eyes still glow red and has a bioluminescent pattern over his whole body. This can not be seen in the light. Strengths: He has excellent insect-like quick reflexes. Fast metabolism. Fast Healing. He can fly in creature form up to 100 mph and can take off straight up like a helicopter. He can feel the slightest changes in the air, detects vibrations from afar and sensitive enough to temperature that he can tell when another person is the room by body heat alone. Is protective of children. Weaknesses: His extra fast metabolism makes him have to eat and snack often to keep energy. His moth instincts make him attracted to light (phototaxis) and can be easily distracted or drawn in by bright or artificial light instinctively headed towards it. Is physically nauseated when around insecticides. He sometimes causes electronic interference, unable to get too close to TV or radio making them static. He also causes watches to stop, often late due to his inability to keep time.
Age: Appears in his teens or early 20s ( Birthdate: November 14th, 1966) Species: The One and Only Mothman - The last of a dying species Is he Immortal? No. He does have prolonged life compared to a human, ages different, but he is not immortal. HISTORY
Altas’s story begins in West Virginia in a little town called Point Pleasant. Sightings of a great winged creature lingering in the night with large, reflective, red, glowing eyes began on November 14th 1966. This was the day he emerged from his cocoon. The area was reported as being plagued with demons for over a thirteen month period. There are many theories, rumors, tales, and tragedies that grew out of this season, but only Atlas could be the true storyteller, for he witnessed who was behind the plight. The media might have one believe that the mothman himself killed all the dogs in town along with several "suicides” and was the result of a 200-year old Indian curse put on the town, by Chief Cornstalk. Some blame the biochemistry industry with companies such as the LFC Chemical Company, and American Cyanamid, thinking the mothman was a mutated bird, from leaking chemicals, as parts of West Virginia were sold off to them for testing. Other stories will lead people to believe that buried mounds of wartime explosives that the government bought during World War II were to blame. The truth is Atlas is no mutant. A mothman is a creature like any other supernatural species. They try to stay hidden like most in-human creatures, but Atlas was sighted numerous times during his stay in Point Pleasant. He was often sighted with small children wanting to play. They were the only humans that were still innocent enough to not be scared by him. Indrid Cold was the name a demonic entity went by back then. He had his fun in Point Pleasant by burning and killing the residents’ dogs. But, that was just the start. He was the real cause of all the UFO and paranormal activity that the humans were researching there. It was the demon playing deadly demonic games also causing floods and fires. He was also behind all the ghostly vanishing apparitions that were reported too. It was merely a coincidence that Atlas and his sister were born and had been sighted there as well. That’s right. Atlas had a sister, named Mora, who shed her cocoon with him.
The demon consistently used Atlas and Mora as scapegoats to his games. But, it was Mora who took a stand and tried to fight the demon. This was to no avail and only angered the entity more with new sights set on Mora. The demon went on to play head games with them. He eventually offered the determined pair a deal. He would stop raining tragedy on Point Pleasant if Mora and Atlas took part in his next little game. That “game” was taking out the Silver Bridge. Some experts say the bridge’s collapse was caused by an eye-bar failure. But, what caused the eye-bar to fail, or more the point, who caused the eye-bar failure? That was Atlas.
When the pair refused to take part in the demon’s little game Indrid Cold made sure Atlas would have no choice. He held his sister as bait telling Atlas to destroy the bridge, and not only would his sister be let free, but the demon would leave town just as he claimed he would before. If Atlas didn’t do it, he would destroy the bridge himself and take a permanent resident in the town vowing to take out each human there, one by one, including the little children Atlas was so fond of. Atlas knew the demon would make good on his threats and decided he had to do it. It was forever known as The Silver Bridge Disaster. It is also known as the biggest tragedy of the Mothman’s Hauntings. Atlas saw it as having to sacrifice a few to save many. But, the demon’s trickery didn’t end there. When it was all said and done and Atlas took out the bridge, the demon shoved his sister under the falling rubble, drowning her. Indrid Cold laughed at his betrayal of their deal and then disappeared never to be seen again. This left Atlas with only the rubble and heart-break. Atlas’s usual tendency was to stay hidden from man-kind lurking in the night, as most moths do. After the collapse of the bridge and killing so many people, his sister among them, he made plans to leave the area. He knew human-kind would never understand the sacrifice he had to make for them. At least that was how Atlas saw it. So, he grew cold and bitter towards the human race (only making exceptions for children) when he was blamed for every plight that flooded the town during his time there. Stories, books, and even a movie eventually were filmed. He knew who was really to blame and everyone feared him instead. He was only trying to warn them when he appeared places he knew the demon was coming. Okay, and maybe he chased a few cars scaring the beejeebees out of people, but he couldn’t help it. He was attracted to the tail-lights. To this day, Atlas won’t trust a demon, even the ones that claim to be reformed. Atlas’s life cycle closely resembles that of tiny moths. (Egg - Caterpillar - Crysalis - Adult Moth) His life cycle has one more step though: Egg - Caterpillar - Crysalis - Adolescent Mothman - Crysalis - Adult Mothman. Soon after he left town it was time to form his second chrysalis. This time his metamorphosis allowed his body to also shift and take human form. This was his final stage. He’s now an adult mothman and will remain that way, able to change his form at will. He was an adolescent during his time in Point Pleasant. He came out of his chrysalis hungry and unsure of his new surroundings and followed his animal instincts living in the nocturnal wilds. As an adolescent he had no ability to shift back and forth. This can only be done in the last stage of a mothman’s life cycle, their last morph. Having this new form allowed Atlas to live in the civilized world for the first time, not just the forests and shadows of the night. His more human form doesn’t hide all the traces of his beastly insect form though. His eyes still naturally glow red, which is why Atlas took to wearing colored contacts all the time, trying to appear more human.
It’s still hard. He doesn’t quite have the skin of a human. He’s paler than an albino. His odd appearance led him to the circus.
This is where he met Bastien Bellerose, Frollo, and all the circus freaks that lead him to the life he has now.
#bio#had this in my drafts forever with no idea how to adapt it then it hit me#lol#bastien and his circus#woooooooooo

The gift shop's fault. Making a big fuss over nothing. The establishment. See? This was why Flotsam loved Thomas's mind. There were ways they thoughts quite alike sometimes and when it happened everything felt more in sync than a boy band. Life was good.
Flotsam spent so much time gazing into Thomas's blue eyes he nearly forgot he had one of his own even with all his identical copycat children.
There was never a time Thomas helped with a clasp Flo's mind didn't go back to the first date no matter how many times he did it. This time was no different. Even as their mind went back it didn't stop them from feeling the heat off Thomas's body while he was so close even with all the watchers around this time. They weren't alone. It wasn't quite as intimate, but he still got a hint of that feeling, enough to have to catch a small moment of closing his eyes. Then he'd open another button and press the large jewel against his skin.
Immaculate.
Instasmile.
There his husband went with the adjectives again.
Flotsam had more fun admiring Thomas as he listened to Silvain run on about Pablo Escabar's poor hippos wondering if he sits around reading thesarouses just for compliments or if he's truly inspired and they just pop out of him every time.
"Me? Ideas? Never. I try to use my brain as little on vacation as possible."
Did Flotsam want a hippo? Not really. He was just referring to the Christmas song and thought it was funny.
"But if Figaro or the Rescue Rangers find out about the rampant hippos New Zealand or Feral may have some issues. I don't know." He put his hands up though and pretended to wash them and slung them dry. "If it happens my hands are clean of this. I'll know who to blame." He pointed at the pale one.
Adam sniggered.
Then Flotsam rose a brow. "Okay or maybe you." It was clear Adam liked to stir things up.
Once Trinity came and took the pair along back home Flotsam almost the missed the pair and wished she hadn't come either.
"I'll be sure to send him your love. He appreciates that, you know." Trinity called back as she was walking the pair around a corner that would have them casually disappear without drawing attention.
"Not sure I'll mind too much if Caim wants us to have them along again sometime. I think I like them. I should have known I would if he's a Bastien's sort. We were a little busy with the museum to get to know them too much. But, yeah... pretty okay, yeah?" He asked making his way into his usual side of the passenger's seat.
"He referred to his own tragedy. I think I'll ask him more about that next time."
Then he realized they still had the emergency pack Caim gave them with the antivenom and Adam's meds along with everything else they'd crammed into the stroller in the back of the car.
He texted Caim who had in his phone listed Adrian Marius his current most used earth alias. Flotsam was an earthly guy. His go to was still technology despite all the friends on the other side lifestyle he'd learned from his papa. Caim said the fastest way to find him was pray, but Flo was texting okay? It was just instinctual.
"Oh, and Caim says to just keep the pack. He's got more. It'll be nice to know there's one everywhere he visits."
That made Flo smile a little more. "Guess that means we're getting a good review over there and they're allowed to come back. I think we passed."
Stealing from gift shops had kind of become their thing. Had he ever paid for the rings that they used for their ceremony at the aquarium? He couldn’t even remember. It didn’t matter a goddamn thing though, they came through in a pinch. And if people didn’t make such a big deal over nothing, they wouldn’t be having to hurry out through the gift shop, taking a couple of things, and he could have spent time in showing off that well-used credit card. So it was the museum’s own fault, really.
The necklace would look amazing pressed against that clavicle, whether it was Flotsam’s or Valerie’s. They both deserved to wear beautiful things, that’s what Thomas thought. So it barely occurred to him to wait for Valerie. It was both of theirs. He just wanted to be the one to secure the clasp and see it sparkle, matching Flo’s one blue eye.
“Only if you want ta,” He said, focusing more on his thick fingers with the delicate little clasp. They made these things so tiny. “Probably best if you do, this thing is going to shine.”
He got it without too much trouble, making sure that it was good and secure around his husband’s neck. No matter how small the clasp, he’d always get it, no matter how much work that he put into it. Then eagerly, he moved around to Flotsam’s front so that he could see it, hanging down over the exposed skin. “Immaculate.”
“That does sound like a tragedy,” Thomas said. He hadn’t known this story and was caught onto every word of it. Private menageries - they had one of their own and now he had his own thoughts about who would take care of it if something were to happen to his family. Poor Balrog, swimming circles alone for the rest of eternity, already dead.
“Are you getting any ideas, love?” He teased Flotsam slightly, since they did have a skill for collecting strange pets, and a hippo wasn’t entirely out of the realm of possibility. Hard to manage, hard to get but - not surprising.
And them a magical blonde, of course. Their babysitting duties had come to an end, it seemed.
Thomas grinned as he heard the exchanges between his new friends and Trinity. Adam really did sound like a kid that was getting dragged away from a playground, he couldn’t help but find it endearing. They really were well liked, weren’t they? They were becoming like the fun friends.
“Hey, it was a great time, thanks for coming with,” Thomas said with a wide grin to Adam and Silvian. And it had been. Of course, he and Flo and the triplets would have managed to have a fantastic time with themselves but .. these two added a little something extra to the experience. Made it .. more unforgettable.
“Yeah, give him our love back,” He said, putting an arm around Flotsam’s waist casually, hand on the handle of the stroller, giving Trinity a smile. He agreed with Flotsam - there was something increasingly funny about this whole thing. About this whole day, actually. It was one that he’d remember fondly.

"If you say so. Whatever you please."
Flotsam wasn't one to push and if he was pushing more than likely there was a prank involved, so beware. The guys were happy dappy with Flo's pics and on they went.
Of course Silvain knew. Caim was one to give a small brief. Silvain was watching Adam for the Hellbird, but demon president didn't trust either one of them out alone, much less together. He tried to play to on Silvain's emotional/mature side to keep him in line by giving him responsibilites, but it didn't always work out how Caim intends. So giving Silvain the briefs was part of that. Both boys noticed the swipes by Thomas. Points earned by the not so upstanding citizens. It was a move Silvain hadn't expected from the other lycan. He was taking mental notes while Adam was more simply amused and entertained by it.
The Valerie in Flotsam started to stir when Thomas asked about putting the heart on. His memories went right back to her mother of pearl necklace, also heart shaped, but much smaller than this one. For two seconds he hesitated and almost thought to say Valerie would want to wear it, but even Flotsam couldn't wait for her.
"Yes, please. I'd like that."
He turned right around for it.
He looked back. "Should I take off my tie? Yeah, I should, right?"
Then he loosened up the top buttons too after taking the bow tie off. He was having a little trouble deciding how many buttons to keep open on his shirt. He'd figure that out after he saw how the necklace hung he supposed.
As for the question directed at Silvain and his tragedy collecting Adam spoke up first, "You mean besides his own?" Then Silvain swatted his arm. "That one doesn't count exactly." Then the bug boy continued in all his paleness. "Pearl Harbor is an easy go to, but I like to find more obscure ones, like Pablo Escabar's hippo's. That was tragic. When he went down his zoo was abandoned with loads of animals, right? There was an effort to relocate them. However there were four hippos that got left behind and bred. Dozens of hippos were deemed dangerous and scaring the locals. So, people started to castrate all these poor, wild, hippos that never did anything to anyone. Potentially dangerous. That's what they called these animals. That is a tragedy."
Adam chimed in again. "Arresting drug dealers is bad for the environment."
Flo's eyes were wide. "Apparently so. Damn. And not one person thought of all those people who wanted a hippopotamus for Christmas?"
Adam, "Right?"
Suddenly, there was Trinity. Adam groaned. "Already?" He was like a kid who didn't want to go home yet. Adam nor Silvain who teleport. They weren't demons nor had magic like them.
"Yes, well reports are coming in about abulances needed due to unidentified snake bite at the museum. I think it's time to get you two out of here. Come along."
"Is Dad mad?"
Trinity laughed, "Are you kidding. He placed bets with Greed you couldn't make through one outing without him. He's rolling in his winnings as we speak. He's going to be unbearable to live with for the week."
"Can we move to the Russia House this week?"
"Maybe."
Silvain rolled his eyes. "That's a yes." Then Adam and Silvain fist bumped each other with an explosion off the end.
Then finally the pair would turn to their hosts for the day and start to re-thank them again for their day and make sure they had all their suvenirs in order.
Trinity was impressed the two dads had a decently normal day with the pair all things considering. "Dad his love and thanks again. He's preoccupied or he'd have picked them up himself."
"All good." Flo would shake his head and wave her on thinking the whole thing was rather funny.
“I’m sure - all I have to do is look at the photos I’ve got with you and it’ll take me right back to this memory.” Besides - he much more enjoyed behing behind the camera for Flotsam than he did being in front of it. He was all grins, and babies, and his husband and their pals, having a good time.
Though they moved quickly through the gift shop, he would just grab a couple of things as they breezed through, tossing it into the stroller or into his pocket. They had the money to pay for the stuff if they got stopped, but he highly doubted that they would. A Titanic Pocketwatch? Swipe. A little Captain hat keychain? Swipe. Titanic modelling kit? Definitely harder to swipe but he picked it up as if he owned the thing and put it under the stroller, and then whistled on their way out. He and Scout would have fun with that. He was regretting not picking up the Heart of the Ocean necklace but they had been moving so quickly and it wasn’t as if they had the good, expensive ones out on display, ready to snatch.
But Silvian was on top of that, and he was very grateful.
“Ahh yes, thank you,” He said, taking the books that he knew he would have been buying if they had stayed inside of the giftshop. It seemed everyone and their Hellish friends knew that Thomas was a literature fiend. But then he focused on the necklace for Flotsam, looking at the clearness of the sapphire that was within. “Can I help you put it on?” He asked, memories swirling back inside of his head of when he had done the same thing with the locket for Valerie before their first date.
“What are some of your other favorites?” Thomas asked Silvian curiously. Was he already thinking that they could all go on another trip in the future - somewhere like New Jersey where the Hindenberg crashed or maybe even London, where the Great Fire of 1666 had ravaged the old streets.
“Thanks for comin’ and making it much more interesting,” Thomas said, along with Flotsam’s nod. They could have had a good time without them - Thomas and Flotsam always did - but it might not have been nearly so fascinating without these two.
He also wasn’t in the largest hurry to get rid of the two of them, and fully agreed with Flotsam’s plan of grabbing a bite to eat, some crusty blaa which was essentially bread. But it was hearty. It was warm and soft and put him in the mind of all of the people who had built the Titanic, what the workers had probably eaten on their short breaks.
He listening in on Flotsam and Silvian’s conversation. Small world, this was. Even Hell seemed smaller during these moments. They were all interconnected - like stars, constellations.
“Can’t say we’ve had the privilege,” Thomas said. A Freak Show Band, now that would be something to see. “If that’s an invitation, we’ll take it.”

No one. Absolutely no one.
They were going to be atrocious parents annoying to the most beloved degree. Beautiful.
Flotsam shook his head. He didn't know why he didn't think Thomas would naturally want to be up there too. Grin spread like a Cheshire Cat on the side of the moon.
Christmas was going to come quick. It always did when the holiday season hit. It was like a marathon of events after July 4th to Flo with so many birthdays and holidays during the last half of the year. There was something to be said about the slow peace of spring and lavender scents simply to not be doing much at all. Easter felt like the lull. It was the only good thing about New Zealand and the seasons being backwards to Valerie's state of heart. When the lull would hit the fall colors would be outside again and match the feeling of the lull. The peace. It was the one time she put pastels in her home when the world outside was exactly what she actually loved. What a contradiction. Pastel pinks and blacks. Pink goth Easter was love. Oh Valerie. But, maybe they could take some of their pictures from today and turn them into cheesy ornaments for their Christmas tree. Best bet the Laveaus had a big ol' tree every year with loads of homemade ornaments.
Flotsam was spreading his arms out like an airplane hoping the kids would copy him. He even made airplane sounds like when they tried to feed them even though made no sense right now, but it sure worked. He'd boop them on the nose and them flap his arms getting them to giggle.
"SCORE!"
He'd call it out every time they got a decent one or a funny one. These pics were adorbs.
When this entertainment was done Mission First Class was deployed. They might have been in charge, but Flotsam decided chimera and the mothman was up for the task of watching the three kids while strapped into the stroller for this one.
Flotsam would say, "If anything happens, protect the children at all costs." As if this was a real dangerous situation. It just made it more fun to pretend it was. He knew the worst that would happen was someone would ask them to leave or get down, but still.
Adam hissed back, "Yes ssssir" even though he was chuckling taking the whole thing like a game.
Silvain's back straightened up and put his arm across Adam to cut off his laughter like it was an important moment. "Always do. You have the right man for the job."
Flotsam tilted his head noting how serious Silvain seemed with his answer even though Flo was just playing around. He couldn't imagine that was a bad thing, but figured there was a story behind that tone. Something in his tone made him think he was the right guy for the job for real if he had been serious. For now Flo gave him a salute off the top of his head, like alrighty then.
Up the stairs.
He looked at Thomas. He looked at the staircase. He looked down at himself and straightened his little bowtie. He straightened his jacket. "How do I look?"
He ran his hands through the sides of hair after and marched like he was on the beaches of Normandy and there were certainly no ropes about to block his pathway.
It only took a moment, seconds really to walk up there, but each step was a breath waiting for an alarm to sound, or nosey security person to cough at them, and remind them what ropes were for, or to read the signs.
He pushed the ropes aside. He made it to the top. He walked to the back by the doors so he could feel like he was making an entrance from that first class level of the ship. He heard footsteps entering the room down where Adam and the rest were. He stayed focused. Whatever they said he tuned it out. He wasn't going to let them ruin his moment.
Damn, the replica of that angelic clock. Fine craftsmanship never failed to catch his eye. He stood admiring it and ignoring what was behind him tuning out the intruder momentarily. He turned his head slightly. His hands were casually in his pockets much like Jack when he finally turned to look back Thomas. He was playing it up to some extent. He wanted that picture/video, however Thomas was rolling it.
Then he made that full turn.
Now while Thomas and Flotsam were playing Grand Stair Case there was another dynamic going on. Yes, Flotsam was doing the thing where he was ignoring a small threat to his happiness knowing he was being reprimanded for breaking a rule, but his body still changed. His heart still raced a little, things like on the inside. Stark and the girls were attuned to this. They were very close to their parents being the little wolves that they were. It was very proven Stark was the jumpiest day one with Thaddeus. Silvain being the bug he was could feel the slightest of vibrations and told the person that came in, "I wouldn't do that" as he approached.
The man even smiled at the child in the stroller and reached forward like he was going to pat it's little head before going to speak to his parents. It wasn't like they were stealing the stairs. They probably even had people try this off and on because exactly, who wouldn't want to walk on the stairs?
A few seconds after Flotsam's turn as he was smiling as debonair as he possibly could at Thomas unable to not smirk at the end he heard a thud that pulled his attention. He finally looked over at the others.
Silvain said, "I tried to warn him."
Then Adam said, "Stark was going to shift if I didn't bite him."
Flo's eyes widened as he scanned the scene noticing the guy who was there to tell them to get down was now face down on the floor.
Silvain would verify. "He's right. I could feel it."
Flo processed that real quick. Bug guy could feel Stark was going to shift because he perceived a threat. Snake guy bit the threat to get rid of threat so Stark wouldn't shift in public and give them all away. Human down for the count with snake guy's venom.
"People never listen. Story of my life. Thanks."
He looked back over at Thomas and his phone.
"Did you get a good shot?"
What's important here is important.
OBVIOUSLY they were the cutest couple in the planet. Who could ever compete with them?
He was prepared to take pictures of Flotsam beside whatever he wanted. Same with the triplets, who wouldn’t remember this trip, or understand anything that they were standing beside but one day - one day Thomas and Flotsam could say, oh the Titanic? Yeah, got a picture of me holding you near the dead musician’s instruments. And then Thomas could recite some ramble from the museum tour because these things tended to stick inside of his head, and then the kids could regret asking because they got their ‘da on a long-winded spiel again, whoopsy.
There it was indeed. Thomas didn’t know that this was in here but - of course it was. And it was damn stupid that it was closed off to the public, who wouldn’t want to have their own Jack and Rose moment on those famous stairs?
“What, you think I’m not going to come up there with you?” Thomas asked. He wanted to get all the best pictures of Flotsam, and that would include some closeups. Maybe Flotsam was a bit like Jack. He was certainly fun. Not at all uppity but he and Valerie could fit in with the best of them if they wanted to. Music was his art. They enjoyed the high life on occasion, like going to the theater, but give them a pub with some beer and unrestrained dancing - that was the shit. That was the real fun.
Oh yes - and the front of the ship too. That was equally as important.
They were going to have so many photoshoots today, their camera storage never knew what hit them.
He helped to take pictures of Adam and Silvain as well, just so that they would have back up pictures in case of technological troubles. His screen didn’t seem to be acting out though, so he was hopefully that these images were going to turn out. Maybe he’d have to get them printed nicely and frame them, just so that they’d have a physical copy rather than rely on technology. Christmas wasn’t far away.
And then Flotsam had one of the best ideas that he had ever heard.
“I’m in,” He said, and he swooped two of his little girls from the stroller. All chubby little arms and dark hair sweeping over their foreheads. He had to do this, to hold them both, one in each arm and glance stoically like they were out on the sea. He remembered his time out there, he remembered the feeling rather well. He climbed on up with his little girls. “Come on, show em how to spread their arms love, they’ll do it if you do,” He grinned.
And then of course, when that was done, and he put the girls inside of the stroller to be safely carted around once more, he held his hand out to Flotsam. "Shall we be kings of the world?" He offered. He wanted to do it with Flotsam too. Even if their phones failed, and no pictures were taken, he wanted to experience it with him.

Flotsam would hope so, loved them the same, at least as they needed anyhow. Loving them equally in the heart was a given to a parent. At least it seemed like it should be in Flotsam's mind.
But, what really got to Flotsam was some of Thomas's glances. There was something different about today. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was. He felt twelve for a moment like he was on a first date, but it made no sense. He was pushing a stroller hand in hand with his husband. Dear Loa Heavenly Host. Had they really become the cutest couple on the face of the planet? Flotsam noticed their reflection in the display cases. Glass was everywhere and he thought, yep, they sure fucking were.
There was something so secure in this feeling. When did he become the person anyone entrusted anything to? Lead a tour, babysit, whatever? He and Thomas were in charge. So wild. Since when was Flotsam Laveau responsible? These were the sorts of questions going through his head as he secretly watched their reflection more than objects inside the display... or maybe not so secretly if Thomas could hone in on what he was focusing on through their eyes. Thomas might be the only one to be able to notice though.
Then there went Thomas quoting Oscar Wilde of all authors in his mind. If he would have said it out loud how delighted Flotsam could have been. The sarcasm king of wit. That was Flo's poet.
However it was Dickens that went through his head when he saw all this. This was one author Flo knew well. Too well. Broodily well. He didn't say it out loud either, but for different reason. “Happiness is a gift and the trick is not to expect it, but to delight in it when it comes.” Charles Dickens wrote this and Flo remembered feeling gray that day like happiness was always just out of reach. He took that in his soul like a blanket of fool's hope of his own. All he had to do was stop believing life would be okay and maybe some good would just rain down from the sky out of nowhere.
It was like another wording of Eeyore's, Never to expect anything and one will never be disappointed. But, Flo didn't want to simply not have added sorrows. He wanted actual happiness. But, he tried to talk himself into letting it go. He was always scared just knowing the quote would jinx it. He thought to himself as he looked at this place these people never got to delight in happiness again. Every single one of them were probably expecting it on the other end of their voyage.
It was ironically not so long after his study into Dickens that Thomas asked Valerie to marry him. It was a secret reason she adored his fool's hope all the more, but she couldn't say so, or it would jinx her expectations she tried so hard to keep non existent. But, it lived inside Flotsam.
Then Flo laughed. He liked the morbid jokes. 'Life was too important to take too seriously' as Oscar Wilde might say. So, on through the museum the group went.
Flotsam stopped by the violin case. He did take a moment there. The deaths of all these people didn't really have a big emotional toll on Flo or anything as tragic as it was. But, thinking of the musicians who kept playing when the ship was going down, he liked that. He wanted Thomas to take his picture by that. Anybody who's facing death and just keeps rocking out to the very end had Flo's respect. Those were the sort of questions he liked to ponder. Would he sing in those last moments if he were alone?
As they kept going on he finally saw what he brought that bowtie for and his whole face lit up. "There it is!" His excitement got the better of him and his patent leather feet were tapping as he reached in his pocket to get ready.
Adam was all, "There is what?"
Silvain's pale face would grin realizing where they were too. Who said there wasn't going to be a little movie magic in here?
There was a full replica of the grand stair case and damn it was beautiful craftsmanship. No, not just grand stair case, but he wanted to stand on the First Class stair case like low class Jack in his bow tie.
Now it was very clear by the ropes no one was allowed up there, but Flo was determined this was his big want for the day.
"Okay, so when I get kicked out of here Valerie wants heart necklaces from the gift shop because this is going to happen. My low class feet are walking up those stairs. Can you get this pic for me, Love? I need it?" He was looking around and mostly staring up at the top envisioning himself in that world of bullshit elitism. He had a lot of baggage in his head coming from so little in the swamps. He didn't like lines. He was definitely going to cross them even if it was just for a pretend staircase.
Then Silvain pointed out one other spot he might not want to miss first.
"Well, don't let anyone kick you out before you get a pic there. Take some of me and Adam there like in the movie first."
It was the front of the ship.
Okay, Silvain was right. Flotsam did not want to miss out on that spot. He also realized right then and there he really liked this Silvain guy just because of his wording. Don't let anyone. Let anyone. The guy realized if they were to get kicked out it was because Flo let them kick them out instead of going full force on anyone. It was nice being with people who got they had the ability though. Finally, people who respected them again. He hadn't had that in awhile. Everyone was always against Flotsam Laveau except the camp. Yeah, he liked this guy a lot the more he watched him. He held the camera to get pics of Adam and Silvain taking turns being in front pretending like they were sailing in the head winds of the real Titanic. They were being goofy about it just hoping one or two out of the masses being taken would come out considering Silvain's electronic issues.
Flo however would ask Thomas to hold up the kiddos. "Oh please, please, please. You have to let me get pics of you holding Wren and Dove up there with their little chonky arms stretched out." He was laughing because nothing would be cuter than having pics of their Daddy doing that with them when they were older. That was the part that almost made her want to come as Valerie this day, but she could have cliche any day. This was more fun, special, the precious moments.

That was the part that almost made her want to come as Valerie this day, but she could have cliche any day. This was more fun, special, the precious moments.
Not that either of them really needed the ego boost but they were definitely giving it to themselves anyway.
“Fucking right,” Thomas said with a grin. Flotsam could design it, Dale could probably work some metal into the shape of it, it’ll be a big, beautiful family thing. He was so up for something like that.
He would have to get some real nice paper. The parchment kind. Thick. Weighty. Get one of those really fancy pens too. He didn’t have much to say to anyone save for Flotsam and Valerie, and his kids, so he’d write them grand letters. Put some in a box for the triplets until they’re old enough to read them and find out more about their parents in Thomas’s own handwriting. He liked that idea a lot, actually.
Thomas really did love them equally. He took care of them the same. That’s just the kinda guy that he was. A natural caretaker guy. A fix it guy. They didn’t have their tickets in advance? He fixed it by buying them right there and then, swiping that credit card for the millionth time in the past couple of years. And there wasn’t the least bit of trepidation to showing his husband affection in public, arm around the waist as they pushed the stroller, watching over their two guests, enjoying the feeling of staying close.
He would take one of the tour things though. He was a fucking nerd, through and through. A chance for more information, yes please. He’d still be reading all the plaques to himself, crouching down low to tell some of the more interesting tidbits to the triplets, as if they could understand, as if they would remember. But hey, one of the best ways to learn is to teach, that was coming in handy. He was teaching these three everything.
Course he had no judgment about the S’s. Actually, he thought it was kind of cool. The whole lisp sounding thing. He used to try to listen to if Frank had one because of his tongue but the guy didn’t speak much to him, it was hard to tell.
But he looked at the tablet too. “Ahh, that’s a shame. You don’t get to know the joys and tribulations of mobile gaming,” He said, trying to make a bit of a joke. This was all good stuff to know though. Things go well, they’ll probably be spending more time with these two. They were the trusted babysitters now after all. Tablets, phones, lights, he was going to keep that in mind.
The room with all of the exhibits was gorgeous. History surrounding them, and yet … and yet -
There was Flotsam, looking fucking gorgeous. All this information around that they were paying to get, and his eyes kept flickering over to his husband like he was a boy with a crush. The way that the collar of his shirt was open, just teasing a little bit of chest flesh that Thomas wanted to run his tongue over. The dandy shoes. He didn’t even know about the bowtie yet but that was going to blow his mind. He did look a little bashful whenever he got caught and oh,would he ever get caught, especially because after two seconds of looking away, his eyes would be right back on him.
He did chuckle at Flotsam’s idea though. Things like that tended to happen at Hobbiton, where he knew everything off by heart. Knew things the official tour guides didn’t. Was a lot more passionate about the place too than the tour guides were because it wasn’t a job. So it wouldn’t have surprised him if people just started following around like he was a group leader. He had those kind of vibes, apparently. “Yeah, fuck that. Looks like Silvain enjoys the reading anyhow.”
One hand on the stroller, one hand in Flotsam’s, holding it playfully like they were on a first date or something. It was fun, still having those butterflies and those nervous ‘Will he like me if I do this’ sort of feelings. Kept him feeling young when the grays were starting to come in. Love never changes for some people, no matter what age.
The furniture was … not as inspiring as their tour of the old castle. There, at least, he thought about a bed with posts that he could handcuff his spouse to. Or be handcuffed to himself, he wasn’t particularly picky. Maybe the chaise lounge could be a good idea. With green velvet rather than this froufou shit. He could imagine Valerie laying on one with a microphone, singing in that Amy Winehouse like tone of hers. Now that’s a goddamn idea. Put that on his ever lengthening ‘to-do list’.
But damn. The movie had done a good job to show the difference in classes, but seeing it in person and not just on a screen was something else entirely. “Yeah, and if that’s the last bed that you sleep in before you die - phwoah,” He said, shaking his head. He thought of Oscar Wilde’s last words, actually. ‘The wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other of us has got to go.’ The wallpaper won that battle. These beds won the one against the third-class.
And then another startling realization into the lives of demons, of course they lived the high class lifestyle and just thought like that. Adam’s words had him chuckling, despite the morbidness. “Yeah, you’re right about that, love. I’d rather die in one of these rooms without having to worry about drowning because I got stuck under a heavy Chaise Lounge.”

Neither of these two were capable of such things as dragging anyone to Hell, not even themselves, but their keeper sure was, so same difference.
"That's gotta be it. We're the cool sitters." Flotsam was quick to grab onto that idea. It stroked his ego and he needed some feel good.
They needed to get one of those? Oh! The wax seal.
"They are pretty classy aren't they? I agree. We so do. The Laveau seal. I'm so down for that."
He'd feel pretty damn cool sitting at the desk dipping his ink to write just to give even more aesthetic and finishing off with the lighting of the candle. He could feel the vintage academia vibe making him seem smarter already, or all medieval and important. Thomas wore mall jeans and Dad sneakers most of the time, but that's how Flotsam saw him. Era movie aesthetic oozed from his pores even without the get ups on, but it was certainly part of the allure of going to the theater for Valerie. Suddenly, Thomas would walk out and look the same as the vibe he gives off.
They both seemed to think the guidelines were easy enough to follow and the last vote was in. Thomas was ready to go in. As he held the door for Flotsam he couldn't help but find this fun. It was a natural feeling to follow even as himself and not herself despite being the one who would do these things for his long gone exes, any of them. But, as it had been a while since he'd been in his own skin he couldn't help but take mental notes again of the way Thomas was even for him. It gave him an inner smile. Something in him was glad some things never change. Thomas even went right up and purchased the tickets for everyone. For some reason even little things like that were amusing Flotsam through to his gooey center. It was so repetitive and seemingly so meaningless, just a transaction, but watching Thomas head the way of things and getting things done just felt so good. It felt like security, stability, something he was realizing he could trust when it was in his nature to be watching his back. Maybe there was something in Flotsam through all his changes that needed to see nothing else would. Every day his world kept working normally around him on this trip the more at ease he felt in his own skin again.
Once inside Silvain would be reading every single plaque and brief paragraph posted under every display. There was not one he'd shuffle past. It was easiest for him.
Silvain would put up his hand and not take any offered tablets or ear pieces for the self guided tour.
Adam would. "I'll try to fill you in."
Then Silvain would explain as he looked around doing what most supernatural beings did and checked for humans listening. "I don't do well with devices or watches."
Then Adam added, "Probably bessst to ssstand a few feet from him."
It was the first moment Flotsam noticed those drawn out S's. Snake thing. Sometimes he couldn't quite control the hissing sound in his voice try as he might around humans which he's rarely allowed around alone in public if not in the cirque environment. So, Thomas was right, they were being trusted. Flotsam hadn't heard him speak quite enough to ever catch it before.
Flotsam would question Silvain however, "Don't do well?" He'd let people do their thing, whatever, but he didn't quite understand. Maybe the guy was illiterate? What did he know? There went with what could be intrusive questioning if so, but it was simpler than that. When he flipped his tablet on near Silvain it fuzzed out and went blue.
"I mean I don't do well near devices."
It made Flotsam touch his pocket that held his phone for safe keeping. "Ah. Gotcha." All Flotsam could think was that must suck especially in this day and age when everything is so tech oriented.
"What about lights?" Flo pointed up seeing nothing was happening to the museum lights, but he would follow forward that a lot of the displays might have tech oriented displays or even movie reels running. Lots of museums do that.
"I can effect that too sometimes." Silvain answered leaving off the when he gets emotional enough part.
Watches. Flotsam ran it through his head, powered by crystals, and batteries, or electricity. He clearly effected the crystals first since screens seems to be an issue and watches. Instantly his mind was running through how this would affect a battle. He noted to himself to mention it to Chip considering his skillset. He couldn't help it. His life instilled this habit. He wondered at that point what might appear as a weakness what else this guy had going on, both of them really. He wasn't one to power interrogate though especially in the first moment of meeting them.
"Noted." And with that Flo moved apart enough testing to see if the guy blew his tablet or how far he'd have to stand for it to come back on.
Also, speaking on aesthetic, Flotsam got a little dressy for this event. He didn't go full back in time sort of gentleman's attire, but modern day casual dressy. He wore a button collar shit opened up with a jacket and some shiny shoes. Jacket season was the best whether he would wear his leather or something like this, this rocker loved his inner pockets. It made carrying his mojo bag and doodads much easier without feeling like he needed a handbag like Valerie. Those skinny jeans he usually wore only squeezed in so much. One of those doodads today would be a bowtie in his pocket. That was for later. He did look ahead a little at this place on the phone. A very big part of him wanted to come as Valerie because he was vibing the world of ladies dresses he could have worn here, until he saw something that absolutely igniting his inner Flotsam. From that point forward all he was waiting for one room in the museum and he'd be a happy camper. If asked when they were getting ready for the day he'd have said, "I want my Titanic photos to be snazzy."
So back to the now, on they went. He stood back with Thomas and the trips and let the guests lead. He didn't mind tinkering behind with the stroller.
Then Flotsam teased Thomas, "I thought about offering you up to retell whatever's on the self-guided spiel because you're such a good story teller for us, but then I realized that felt like work and would make people think you were a real tour guide and might ask you questions, and fuck that." He chuckled on as usual Flotsam hating public interference in his life.
As they roamed the display rooms he particularly caught note and stopped near one with upper class furniture. He noted the vintage era look of it all, the craftsmanship put into it compared to modern furniture despite it not being olden castle times. People still valued it here. Very French actually. At least that's what Flotsam thought not that he knew for sure. The guided words would answer such for sure.
But mostly what he noticed was the difference in classes.
It's not like he hadn't seen the movie and didn't know, but seeing it in real life did have an effect. That sort of shit always got under his skin. He couldn't help but say, "You know I was pricing Disney cruises once when were talking about Jetsam's bucket list. Then I went on a spiral pricing all kinds of cruise. But, anyway you go on a cruise nowdays even the cheap rooms are cush. This is ridiculous. Me and Jet's clubhouse in the swamps as kids with no bathroom was more pimped than this. All this money floating around and they couldn't put on any better than a jailhouse mattress? Come on man."
Flotsam just shook his head laughing at it really because damn.
Adam had this shoulder raise and shook it off being the rich boy he was. "That'ssss what they get for being poor. Guessss they should've wait for the next boat and sssaved for a better room."
Silvain tilted his head, "Okay Daddy's boy, never wanted for a thing in your life." It wasn't entirely true, but he was too young to remember anything too impoverished before Caim. "Everyone should have skipped this ride."
Flotsam was still chuckling despite the morbidness of the conversation. He like that though. "Yeah, I think if I got on this ride I'd have rather been in the cheap room anyway. Then they'd have to admit they paid more for their own untimely death. No one should be bragging about that like better boob jobs."
"Yeah, all tragic deathsss should be free of charge." Adam elbowed Silvain. "Like yours. How kind of you."
"Shut up. Uncool. But you know what? They're all very welcome."
"Oh, I'm always cool. Cold blooded, remember?"
"Hardy-har."
Flotsam was a little lost in the banter not getting all the pairs' personal references, but he was enjoying their back and forth either way.
Ahh, babysitting day. Thomas didn’t mind much, saw it as a chance to grow closer to their demonic friends. Oh, absolutely, the ones that they were watching were powerful and could drag them to Hell if anything negative happened but at the same time, it felt like a great amount of trust was being put into the Laveaus through this task.
“We probably bring the fun aspect to it all, love,” Thomas theorized. Because who wouldn’t want a Hellhound and a Rock Star to be babysitters? They were going to bring the excitement, the flash, the fun, even to what might otherwise be a solemn expedition.
Weird looking fella, this Silvain was, but Thomas had grown adjusted to the weirdness of New Orleans, or rather, Feral now, where men were stitched together of different parts and the moon could bring about a hunchback where there was once a meek looking man.
Adam was a bit odd-looking as well, but hey, Thomas knew he was usually the ‘normie’ looking on in every crowd. He felt better around all of these ‘freaks’ and their ostentatious eccentricities. Made him feel a little less dull, just being around them.
“We need to get one of those,” He said, looking at the seal, Caim’s own seal. A tiny little fantasy of his, that touch of elegance that appeared in many books and movies. The wax seal. That’s it, he was getting one when they got back to New Zealand. He was going to start sending letters just so that he could use it. A big L, maybe with an eel design - he’d figure it out later. He leaned in to read though, his mind getting heated up like a car engine being turned on.
Those were - almost typical babysitting rules but with a twist. Let Daddy know if there’s any problems. He was smirking a little as he read it, definitely amused, unable to hide it. At least he could relate to the biting thing. Sometimes it was a struggle to keep the triplets from their more wolf-like instincts. They’ve got this. Famous last words rang through his head - how hard could it be?
“I say we go in,” He said, wide smile on his face when he saw the participation of their own little ones in the vote. Already being influenced by demons - maybe he should be concerned but he wasn’t.
It was quite the building, admittedly. Even just the outside, with all of the sharp angles, the colors, the pattern upon it all, just popping out like a ship through the fog. They got their point across alright. This building was a memorial to an amazing ship, a feat of engineering. A failure, but a feat nonetheless. Thomas walked towards the building, holding open the door for his husband, the stroller, and their two new wards for the day.
They really were going to do it all, weren’t they? The Titanic Experience, with the world’s most authentic retelling of the story, none of the romance of the film, seemed like something that Silvain would like, just from the appearance of him. And then there was the Discovery Tour - how the ship was built and the final hours. Thomas bought the tickets for the experience first. It was self-guided so they wouldn’t have to be lumped in with a group right away.
“Alright gentlemen - and my two favorite little ladies,” He spoke as if his almost one year olds could understand him. He felt that they could. “Let’s go back in time, shall we?”

“Alright gentlemen - and my two favorite little ladies,” He spoke as if his almost one year olds could understand him. He felt that they could. “Let’s go back in time, shall we?”
