I FINALLY DID IT. I really wanted to actually show Silkster, aka Jonas Jaeger from my fic “Silkster: A Spider Story”. He’s a “webbed warrior” like Spider-Man, Spider Gwen, Miles Morales, Venom, etc. I love the Spider Heroes/Villans! I’ve had so many sketches of him (in and out of costume) and I really wanted to actually finish one, just to give people an idea of what I see when I write my story :) their web patterns are a bitch to draw Silkster’s iridescence in his suit is also a bitch to draw But I LOVE my baby. I’ll attach the fic (as I write it) below. Hope you guys stick around for the ride :) Silkster: A Spider Story | Part 01 Silkster: A Spider Story | Part 02 Silkster: A Spider Story | Part 03 Silkster: A Spider Story | Part 04

Silkster | A Spider Story (02)
Wordcount: 2,252
Summary: “In September 2018, NYC, college student Jonas Jaeger reels from his first experience with Spider-Man - only to realize his night with the spider is not yet over.”
Warnings: Very minor mention of blood and hinting to a character that passed away.
Author’s Notes: Like I said before, this started as a graphic design exercise for my MCU OC, Silkster. Eventually, it snowballed into a full-fledged-fic. This is just for fun and stuff like this always gets my creative juices flowing. Hopefully, you guys enjoy reading and maybe I can share more of this story (and maybe art?) as it develops. Welcome to part 2. ♡

『 02 』
I continued to run as fast as I could - far after the bridge had ended. The brisk September air of New York City dried out my throat from running so long; eventually, I had to stop to give my lungs a break. I must've run a full extra block before realizing I could no longer see Spider-Man or the thug he was now apprehending. I couldn't hear any signs of a struggle or anything of the sort. In fact, the city was quiet. I was left with only the sounds of crickets, light traffic, and the whistle of a soft wind tunneling from the bridge's north side.
I felt as my wrist throbbed. As I looked down, I saw the rough and slightly bloody scrape made when the chain got tugged from my arm. It was a small injury but in a very inconvenient spot. No matter what I did, every movement I made with my hand caused an ache. I tried my best to wipe the small amount of blood there was out of the way to get a better look at the damage. I remember wincing as I attempted putting pressure on the cut. I didn't even notice the figure above. Without warning, a massive thud came from behind me.
"That looks like it hurts," I heard through a muffled voice.
Without thinking, I spun around - swinging as hard as I could. I wasn't going to be a victim of this mugger again. Because, it is my luck, it wasn't the mugger. With one solid punch, I made contact with a familiar red mask. It didn't take long for the realization to hit me. I just fucking punched Spider-Man.
"Ow! Holy shi--" The masked vigilante yelled. He was silenced soon enough by my ever-growing panic as I reached for the spot I targeted.
"Spider-Man!" I shouted, "Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, I swear! I thought--" I remember my words just becoming one long jumbled mess as I tried to force out an apology as quickly as humanly possible. Somehow, saying it faster made it not as bad. I know, that sounds stupid. But, much to my surprise, my rambling was greeted by an overwhelming laugh coming from behind the mask.
"Hahaha! Don't worry about it! I shouldn't have snuck up on you." he said as he rubbed his cheek. Soon enough, his laughter began to calm.
"Still... I'm sorry." I didn't know if I should smile or not. Was it rude to act relaxed after punching someone? Spider-Man seemed pretty calm, so maybe I should follow suit.
"What's your name?" he asked me.
"Jonas, uh... sir." I looked at my feet, unsure of how to adequately address my protector. Was it like talking to a police officer? I figured I should be as polite as possible; That way I would avoid any chance at offending him.
"Sir?! What happened to just Spider-Man?" The vigilante chuckled as he gave his (probably now sore) face one more rub for good measure.
"Sorry." I apologized again, "It's just I've never met a hero up close and personal before." I felt embarrassed when I said those words for some reason. Calling him a hero to his face sounded weird. I felt my face flush. I think he noticed how uncomfortable I was.
"Well, Jonas..." Spider-Man said my name, stepping forward, "...that's a mighty strong swing you got there."
It was strange, I thought. People usually picture superheroes as insanely ripped and intimidating. They were essentially gods amongst men. But Spider-Man didn't fit that image, per-say. He was just about as tall as me and couldn't possibly be that much older. This revelation of mine didn't stop the nervousness in my voice from coming out.
"Haha... R-really? You think so?" I stuttered.
"Yeah!" he raised his fists in a confident stance, "I bet you could've taken that guy yourself if I didn't show up."
"Please... I was a wreck." I retreated, my eyes rolling into my head at the compliment that couldn't possibly be true, "I wouldn't have been able to do anything. I was pathetic." my voice faded into my natural shyness once more. Spider-Man stepped forward again, filling the space between us.
"Scared maybe. But not pathetic." He placed a firm hand on my shoulder, "And there's nothing wrong with being scared."
"You're not scared of anything. You're a superhero. You're Spider-Man." I argued. Don't ask me why. I think it was my nerves. When a superhero compliments you - take the damn compliment.
"Just because I'm Spider-Man doesn't mean I don't get scared. I was terrified when I saw that guy pushing you over the bridge." His voice changed a bit. He sounded concerned. I felt his hand tighten ever so slightly.
"You were...?"
"Uh, Y-Yeah I was." Now he was the one that sounded nervous. I felt his warm hand leave my shoulder, but he continued, "Scared... I wouldn't make it in time. Scared that I might've made things worse. Scared of the unthinkable." He paused. I couldn't see his eyes behind the mask, but I could tell he was looking right at mine, "But ultimately, I was scared of what might've happened if I didn't do anything at all."
The wind whistled once more. I didn't know what to say to that. What could I have said to that? In the end, a barely audible "Wow..." was all I could muster up.
"W-what? Did that sound stupid? Too cliche?" he began to fidget as he looked away. Was he embarrassed? The whole situation was so strange to me. Seeing the action shots of Spider-Man on the news was so much more different from actually seeing and speaking to him. He didn't seem like an authority figure or soldier. He wasn't super smooth or commanding. He was just... friendly. Were all heroes like this? It was actually kind of refreshing. Underneath that red leotard, this guy was supercharged - but still a sweet, funny, and regular guy. It's makes so much sense when you stop and think about it, but at that moment in time, the idea was so far from what I thought I knew about superheroes. I didn't see the people, I just saw the names and the masks.
I was silent for too long. I let out a laugh, "Haha, no. Not at all. It's just you never hear heroes admit to being scared."
"Oh..." I could hear a tinge of disappointment in his voice.
"It's a nice change of pace." I smiled
"O-oh!" He perked up, "Well, I'm glad!" Despite not being able to see his expression, I could tell he was smiling back at me.
Once again there was silence. Only the soothing sounds of the city around us. Spider-Man looked down at my scraped wrist.
"Uh... Hey! Let me take a look at that cut." He held his gloved hand out to me.
"It's not that bad." I tried to hide my arm behind my back. I didn't want to take up any more of his valuable time.
He persisted, "Give it here."
I complied. He trailed fingers across the cut. He was so gentle, I barely felt a thing. Granted, I was a little preoccupied tried to decern what was going on inside that concealed head of his.
"Might want to give it a proper cleaning, but you'll be alright." He lightly cupped his hand to my wrist, covering the wound.
"Thank you." I nodded, thinking he'd let go. He didn't.
"Does it hurt at all?"
"Not so much anymore. I really felt it when my--" I finally noticed the faint tan line on my arm was now exposed, "My bracelet!" I felt a sinking dread overcome me when I saw the empty space where my bracelet once was. I didn't want to let Spider-Man see, he saved my life after all. I was incredibly grateful. But still...
"Your brace--?" He began. Suddenly, he reached for his belt, "Oh! This?."
There it was, glimmering in his hand off the New York City street lights. I could barely contain my excitement, "You got it back?! Oh--" I began to stutter. I calmed myself and placed my hand on the bracelet, "Thank you, Spider-Man. You don't know how much this means to me.”
"Oh..." I could just make out what he said as I slid the bracelet out of his hand - in two pieces, "It's broken. I-I'm sorry." He was upset. I could hear it.
"It's alright." I clutched the bracelet to my chest. I smiled back at him once more, "I'd rather have it back broken then not have it back at all."
"That important, eh?" he inquired.
"Yeah," I said shortly, I didn't want to overshare. Heroes probably don't want to hear sob stories, I thought. "It's a long story."
"I've got nowhere to be."
I guess I was wrong, "Well..." I began, "It was a gift from someone important to me who's not around anymore."
"Who?" He asked. I must've unknowingly gave him a funny look, because he immediately tried to back-peddle, "I... I'm sorry, that's none of my business." I could tell he was trying to be compassionate, the least I could do was reciprocate.
So I told him, "An old boyfriend."
"Oh." I could tell he didn't know whether or not to continue to discuss the matter, but I guess he inevitably decided to proceed, "And are you two still...?"
"No, he... he passed away last year." I might as well tell the truth, I thought. We've gotten this far.
"Oh, I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry." I think it finally hit him that maybe this topic was a little too deep for a post-rescue conversation. He was sweet, and he was trying. How could I be upset about that?
"Don't worry about it," I tried to change the subject, "Thank you for saving my life... and bringing this back to me."
He perked up once again, I wasn't sure why. "Hey... can I take a closer look at your bracelet?" he said with his gloved hand outstretched once more.
"Oh, sure." I allowed, placing the damaged chain in his palm.
"Hold out your arm."
"O...kay?" I was confused, but I did as he asked, "But what are you--?"
He wrapped the two chains around my arm, holding them in place. With his other hand, he aimed precariously over my wrist. Suddenly, a small web shot out of the mechanism from his suit. The web was so little. It looked like that of a real spider - maybe even tinier. It slid around the broken piece of gold chain and connected the two halves. A second web shot out, joining the other side. It wasn't perfect by any means, but my bracelet was once again resting firmly where its been for the past year.
"This should at least hold it together again," he said as he ran his fingers across the newest addition to the chain.
"You...! How did you...?" I couldn't find the words.
"Uh... it's the web slingers." He answered the question I already knew the answer to.
"You... you really fixed it."
"So it's okay?"
"Okay? Are you kidding?" I was so happy to know that this silly piece of jewelry was still in my life, "It's more than okay. It's..." I looked at him. There it was again, I could tell he was making the most focused eye contact, waiting for validation, "...incredible." He sighed with relief. I stepped forward.
"Thank you, Spider-Man." I took his hand in mine, "This is the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me."
"N-no problem," His own grip tightened, "I'm just glad I could help."
We stood like that for what seemed like hours, but I'm sure it was just a few fleeting seconds. It was the howl from the wind billowing across the bridge that snapped me out of the moment.
"I... should be getting home," I said as I let go.
"You gonna be okay?”
"Yeah. I'm gonna wait at that restaurant over there," I pointed at the small diner that sat at the end of the street, "I'll call my friend to see if they can pick me up."
"You sure? I can take you home if you'd like," he said, pointing to the sky. God, I wanted to say yes more than anything. But I felt bad. It felt like I was misusing the police force or fire department. He has places to be.
"Yeah," I said softly, "I've taken up enough of your time. Besides, you've got a city to take care of."
"Haha... yeah." he chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck, "Be safe out there, okay?"
"You too. Thank you, again." I wanted him to stay.
"It's all in the job." and just like that, he was gone.
There was silence once again. I was alone, but I didn't feel it. Part of me thought that he was still there, secretly watching me from the darkness above. It might've just been wishful thinking on my part, but it made me feel better. I pulled my phone from my pocket (whoops, I guess I was holding out on that mugger...) as I made my way to the diner. I had my signal back so I could've called an Uber, but I hoped Peter would be able to borrow his Aunt May's truck. I had a story I just couldn't wait to tell him.

Silkster | A Spider Story (03)
Wordcount: 1,542
Summary: “In September 2018, NYC, college student Jonas Jaeger reels from his first experience with Spider-Man - only to realize his night with the spider is not yet over. Wait till Peter hears about this!”
Warnings: Light language, Very minor mention of injury
Author’s Notes: Part 3 of my story for my MCU OC, Silkster. While I love Infinity Wars, Spider-Man: Homecoming, etc, I love the rich history of the comics as well and wanted to write my own “Universe”. This is just for fun and I love researching all the different variations of the Spider-Man characters to compose my own story. Hopefully, you guys enjoy reading along and I can share more of this story and Universe (and maybe art too?) as it develops along the way. Welcome to part 3. ♡

It didn't take me long to get to the diner. I probably would've made it there faster if I didn't spend so much time staring at the tops of buildings, looking for that same flash of red looking back at me. Regardless, I made it. It was a cute little place called "Minnie's Diner." I looked inside to see if the place was open. Through the windows, I could tell it had a bit of a retro theme; with the brightly colored decor, checkerboard floor tiles, a neon jukebox in the back, and a colorful "Closed" sign on the door to complete the look. Damn. Still, I made a mental note to come back here again during their open hours.
It looked like their lights were still somewhat on, and there were a couple cars still in the lot, so I wasn't completely alone. I decided that sitting on the bench by the entrance would be a smarter and safer option than waiting out in the practically empty parking lot. As much as I secretly hoped it would summon Spider-Man again, I didn't want to risk becoming a target for other muggers. I'd prefer not encounter any more inner-city crime for the night.
I pulled out my phone and went through the favorites in my contacts until I found Peter - placed at number three right under "Mom" and "Gwen." I guess I could've called Gwen to come to pick me up, but she and the band had rehearsal tonight for their upcoming show, and I didn't want to interfere. Peter, on the other hand, told me he had nothing going on tonight. He loved talking about this kind of stuff, so I thought he'd get a kick out of my one-on-one experience with Spider-Man. I just prayed Peter was still awake as I pressed the call button. It was pretty late. He didn't answer right away, but before I lost hope and hung up, I finally heard him call out on the other end.
"Jonas! H-Hey, what's up?" He sounded a little funny, "What are you doing up? How did your date go?"
"Hey, Pete. Uh... Not great. It's kind of a long story," I didn't really know how to start the conversation, "Do you think you could pick me up?"
"Me?" Peter sounded surprised, "Y-Yeah! I think I could do that! Where are you?"
"Some diner called 'Minnie's.' I'll send you the location." and I did just that.
"Oh! That's not that far at all. I'll borrow Aunt May's truck and be there soon.
I tried to thank him, but he had already hung up. Peter seemed weird tonight. But to be honest, Peter always was acting at least a little odd. It was charming in a way and was one of the reasons we got along so well. He was different from most of the know-it-alls at Empire State University. Don't get me wrong, he's incredibly smart, and probably does in fact "know it all," but he didn't let that define him as a person. He was friendly, funny, and overall just a really genuine person that I enjoyed being around.
It didn't take long for Peter to show up in May's pickup. Peter always looked so happy when he got to drive it. I still remember the day when May got that truck. It was actually a gift for Peter when he started college. I was the one that had to keep Peter away from the house while May drove it home and put a big bow on it. It was by no means in excellent condition, but it was all she could afford. That didn't matter to Peter. Once we got back to his place and he saw May honking excitedly in the driveway, it placed the biggest smile I've ever seen on Peter's face.
Unfortunately, it didn't last. May got into a pretty bad accident maybe a week or so after. She was unscathed, thank god, but her car was another story. It was a wreck and in the end, couldn't be saved. Peter, being the good guy that he his, gave his "new" truck back to his aunt. She felt awful, but he said it was no big deal and that she needed it more than he did. Despite everything, I could tell he was still secretly bummed out at the situation. It was moments like this when he'd get to use the truck when you could see that childlike excitement back on his face again.
I walked to the truck, smiling at Peter as he waved at me from the driver's seat. I hopped in, and before I could even shut the door, Peter began.
"Hey!" he piped happily, "So what happened? To your date, I mean. Did you have fun?"
"It... didn't happen," I could tell my face dropped just a bit, "He never showed up."
"Wait, really?" Peter leaned forward, the cushion of the driver's seat squeaking beneath him, "You got stood up?"
"Yeah." I was fine before, still high off the excitement from meeting a hero. But having Peter say that reminded me why I was in that situation in the first place. I didn't know what to say, and Peter could tell. He reached across the cup holder between us, placing his hand on mine.
"I-I'm sorry, man. That's messed up." I could feel his thumb move in little circles, "Did he at least text you why? Maybe something came up."
"No, he didn't. But, Kyle posted a picture of him and his friends at a movie premiere at the mall, so I'm guessing he forgot or...maybe I'm just not "up there" on the list of importance." I took my hand back and half-jokingly made my hands look like two levels - the movie premiere representing the top hand, myself being the hand below.
"I get it! That new dinosaur movie looked pretty cool. I would've bailed to see it too." I joked. Peter didn't think that was funny and put his hand on my shoulder instead this time.
"Well, then his list must be broken. Movie or not, he really missed out on a great time tonight." again, Peter's thumb rubbed gently on my shoulder. I think it was something he just did without thinking, but it was still oddly calming and pleasant.
"Thanks, Pete. But--!" I guess I piped a little loudly. I noticed Peter jump ever so slightly, so I tried to decrease my volume, "My night wasn't all bad, depending on how you look at it."
"O-Oh?" Peter's voice began to quiver, I wasn't exactly sure why.
"You'll never believe it! I met Spider-Man!" I couldn't contain myself anymore.
"You did? Wow!" Peter leaned back, eyes wide, "What happened? And what did you think of him?"
"I--" I stopped. I realized I was at a loss for words. What did I think of Spider-Man? Naturally, I had a high opinion of him for saving my life, but how exactly could I put that to words? Peter looked like he was on the edge of his seat waiting to hear more. I knew this would get him excited.
"Well," I took a deep breath and started once more, "I think he's great. Great for the city, great for the people, and..." I felt my face flush. I looked at the door, away from Peter. I never talked to him about stuff like this before. It was kind of embarrassing, "...I just think he's really... great. He saved my life tonight, you know?"
"H-He did?" Peter looked like he was lost in the details of my story, "What happened?"
"I got mugged," I instantly saw concern come across his face, so I tried to lighten the mood, "I'm fine, relax! Spider-Man took care of the guy before anything terrible happened. He even got this back for me." I held up my newly repaired bracelet, unknowingly flashing my injury underneath.
"Jonas! That looks like it hurts!" he seemed to ignore the bracelet, reaching for my arm.
I let him examine my scratch, hoping it would calm him down, "I'm fine, Pete. It doesn't really hurt anymore."
"Still, it looks like it needs to be cleaned up." Peter trailed his fingers over my wrist, looking at the dry spots of blood speckled around the area, "My place isn't far. Let me take a better look and clean this for you. You can tell me more about Spider-Man when we get there." He smirked. How could I say no?
"If it'll make you feel better, okay Pete." I returned his grin, holding my wrist in my hand. As he started the car, I noticed Peter's smile not fading even a bit. I wondered why he was so happy. Was it that his night got to be more eventful then he had previously planned? Was he excited to hear more details about Spider-Man? Or was it just because we finally got to spend some much needed time together? We've both been busy, me with my gallery work and him with his tutoring, so we haven't had a lot of time to hang out together. I was glad. Tonight might not have gone as I had hoped, but it certainly was looking up.

Electrifying Experience | Spider-Man x Reader
Wordcount: 2,085
Summary: “During a painfully lonely trip to the carnival, Electro makes an appearance to put an end to the festivities, leaving you trapped on the Ferris Wheel. How could tonight get any worse? Well, Spider-Man comes to the rescue - helping you in more ways than one.”
Warnings: None
Author’s Notes: I wanted to take a small break from my Silkster fic and write a little one-shot. I can see this going further so if people want a part two, be sure to comment, like, and reblog ♡ P.S. I love the new Electro from the Spider-Man PS4 game omg
Tumblr media
New York City was incredibly active tonight, it seemed. Everyone was out having fun. The magazine had given you tickets to go to the "Summer's Start Carnival" in the park. Yes, you were encouraged to have a fun time, but they higher-ups sent you there to get some good photos for the next issue. Your boss made sure to give you two tickets so you could bring someone. I mean, who goes to a carnival by themselves? Well, it turns out you do.
You had asked a co-worker to go with you, one that you had liked for a while now. You thought it would've been a perfect opportunity to spend some time together outside of work. Guess that was wishing too much. They ended up taking the other ticket but decided to go with someone else. It was nothing personal; they just weren't interested. It still didn't feel great though.
While you were there, you spent the night taking photos of as many people as possible. You captured them all - excited children, happy families, fast friends, and even star-struck lovers. It was nice to talk to people a bit before and after snapping a shot. However, once they left, it reminded you that you were alone tonight. After an hour or so you found it difficult to talk to people anymore, so you focused on rides and environment shots instead.
You make your way to the Ferris Wheel. At about 50 feet in height, it was the tallest structure at the carnival. It was getting late, so the line was nonexistent. You figure you could get a couple of detailed shots at the top then call it a night. You give your ticket to the attendant at the entrance. You feel a little tinge of disappointment as he looks behind you to see if you're going up with a partner. But nope, it was just you. You get in the chair and begin your solo ascension.
It's a slow journey to the top, stopping every few seconds to let others off. You decide to check your social media. As you open the app, you see that #ElectroEscapes was trending online. Upon reading further, you see hundreds of posts and updates about the villain. He managed to escape from his high-security cell and was now galavanting around the city. It doesn't look like he was hurting anyone, at least not yet. Reports just claimed he was causing power outages and property damage.
You pull yourself away from the news once you finally make it to the top. Looking out at the carnival and the rest of the city, you see a beautiful amalgamation of lights and stars. You grab your camera and begin snapping, and the pictures were coming out better than anticipated. Soon you'd head home, send your work to the boss, and put a much-needed end to this night.
Tumblr media
As you spend some time to admire the view (not through the lens of your camera), you notice a flicker of light in the distance. It bounces rapidly in every direction, leaving a sparkling trail in its path. You squint, trying to make out what exactly it is. That's when you notice it. It was heading straight for the carnival. People begin to take notice - pointing in shock as the light gets closer and closer.
"It's Electro!" you hear people shouting from down below. Choas ensues once people can make out the outline of a man underneath all the electricity. Electro flashes across the sky in an almost blinding beam of light - his explosive laugh echoing over the screams of the people.
"A carnival? Shocking that I wasn't invited," he shouts as he flickers around the area, "Oh well, guess I'll hafta call lights out on this little shindig!"
He looks over his shoulder at the citizens cowering beneath him. You can make out his expression through the light. He's got a crazed look in his eye. You try to duck for cover, but there's nowhere to hide. You were a sitting duck at the top of this ride and were horrified beyond belief. Luckily for you, Electro had the bigger picture in mind. With a loud crack and an explosion of electricity, he's gone - zapping out all the power in a 10-mile radius.
You could relax now. The immediate danger was gone, but people were still uneasy. You could see as people continued to call out in the dark, looking for their loved ones. You looked at the attendant on the ground. He was mashing every button he could to bring life back to the Ferris Wheel, but to no avail. For the time being, you knew you were stranded on the peak of this ride. You groan in frustration. How could this night get any worse?
Without warning, you hear a loud thud beside you. You look to your side to see a masked man, clad in a familiar red and blue suit, standing on the protective bar of the chair. It was Spider-Man - the webbed warrior, protector of New York City, Avenger - honestly, you could go on. You feel the seat rock ever so slightly, but you're too focused on the hero balancing beside you. You've seen him on the news and seen articles about him in the Daily Bugle, but you've never once seen him in person, let alone up close.
"Is everyone alright?" He called out over the crowd. People looked to him, and effectively up at me, quieting down rather fast. Still, there was a faint murmur as people continued to worry.
"I need everyone to remain calm," he continued, "Electro is just flexing his powers right now. He's proud of his escape. As of right now, no one's hurt, and power should be back shortly. So please, everyone, remain calm. We will find him." applause slowly grew from the crowd. Everyone trusted Spider-Man. I mean, how could you not? He rubs the back of his neck, chuckling to himself. You can't avert your gaze.
"Hey, are you okay?" He kneels down beside you, still balancing on the bar without trouble.
"Y-Yeah," you find yourself to be a little star-struck, so you try to shake your nerves, "I'm fine. Thank you."
"Don't sweat it! It's all in a day's work!" he laughs, "Listen, I don't know how long it will take for them to bring the power back. Do you want me to help you down?" You blush to yourself, the idea of Spider-Man putting his arms around you and safely carrying you to the ground sounded incredible. But he's a superhero, and Electro was on the lose. You don't want to waste his time.
"It's okay, I don't think lightning will strike twice," you joke, "the view is pretty nice up here. Besides, the way my night's going, I've got nothing better to do."
"Bad night?" He cocks his head.
"You could say that," you feel like you're oversharing, so you catch yourself, "B-But you don't want to hear about that." You try to laugh it off as much as possible, but he can tell it's a facade.
"Sure I do." He adjusts himself, sitting on the bar, facing you. His legs dangle in the space between the seat and the bar, brushing against your knees every now and again.
"What about Electro?" You lean forward on the bar.
"I can't do anything until someone radios me his location. Besides, aren't heroes supposed to help people?" you can't see his face, but you feel like he's smiling at you.
"Yeah, by like fighting criminals. Not by being a therapist." You give a laugh, one that Spider-Man returns. He leans in.
"Whoever thinks that being a superhero is about just fighting baddies doesn't really know anything about superheroes." He kicks his legs gently. You wonder to yourself that maybe he's enjoying this, "C'mon. Tell your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man all about it."
"Well," you're unsure how to start, "I was supposed to be here with someone. But, turns out they weren't all that interested in me."
"So you're here alone?" the red-clad hero asks, concern in his voice.
"Yeah. It's okay though. I just thought--" you find yourself at a loss for words. "Just thought?" Spider-Man lifts himself up from the bar and swings over to sit beside you in the seat. Your nerves come back.
"I-I just thought... I don't know."
"What's your name?" he asks without warning. You're a little taken aback by this, but you find the strength to look at him face-to-face.
"My name is (Y/N)."
"Well, (Y/N)," he begins, leaning on the bar in the same position you're in, "Whoever bailed on you really missed out. You seem like a good person who's a lot of fun to hang out with."
"You got all that from just meeting me?" you joke.
"Call it my spidey senses," he jokes back, "Granted, I'm sure you didn't plan for a night like this."
"You could say that again," You lean back, looking at the thousands of stars scattered above you, "I guess, in the end, I had a fantasy in my head of how this night was supposed to go, you know?" It was cheesy, but when you planned to come to the carnival with your co-worker tonight, you had this dumb romance novel scenario pictured in your head - delicious food that's so bad for you, casual flirting while waiting in line for rides, and maybe a kiss on top of the Ferris Wheel.
Spider-Man cocks his head again. You can't tell what he's thinking, but what he does next is what really takes you by surprise. He brings his hand to his mask and slowly slides it off - just enough to expose his mouth, which you can now clearly see is in a gorgeous grin. He scoots a few inches closer to you. He looks down at his lap for a moment; you can feel that he's at least somewhat nervous. You don't understand why.
"Spider-Man?" you ask. The hero doesn't reply. Instead, he closes the gap between you, pushing his lips against your own. It feels like time's stopped. Without thinking, you bring your hand up to his cheek, softly cupping his face. He reaches up, gently putting his gloved hand on yours. It's a sweet kiss that felt like it could go on forever. You each feel the other smile underneath as you break away in hushed laughter.
"W-what was that for?" you manage to force out.
"Remeber. Whoever thinks that being a superhero is about just fighting baddies doesn't really know anything about superheroes." You see him flash that beautiful smile once again. He was right. Not only did he make sure everyone was safe, but he also went out of his way to make your night better - So much better than you could ever imagine.
It's at this moment that you finally hear the people below. You both look down. At the base of the Ferris Wheel, you hear an eruption of applause and cheering from the crowd. You look at the faces of all the people clapping, waving, whistling, and so on. Without knowing, you two had essentially put on quite the show.

"Were they watching the whole time?" You feel your face begin to flush. Spider-Man laughs to himself, his hand now resting on your back. You hear the faint sound of interference coming from his suit. He leans away slightly, trying to understand better. It stops, and he looks back at you.
"Electro's been spotted in Inner City," you can feel his fingers clench ever so slightly, "I gotta go." Without hesitation you lean in again, planting a soft kiss on his exposed cheek.
"He's dangerous. Please be careful." You tell him. You can just make out his cheeks beginning to flush as he gives you one more smile.
"I will. I promise, (Y/N)." He slides his mask back down over his face. You feel his form lift out of the chair.
"Bye." is all you're able to say. He aims one of his slingers at the building across the street, looks over his shoulder at you one last time, and in mere seconds he's gone. The people beneath continue to clap and cheer, but that doesn't matter anymore. You're left alone once more, on the top of a Ferris Wheel, with a newfound, more profound appreciation for the hero Spider-Man - as well as the man behind the mask.
