what i did in Mondstadt was perfectly justifiable, but everyone sees me as some sort of monster for hurting their precious bard, and i hate that. doesn't anyone realize that he deserved it? he did nothing for his people, and yet they still worship him. how pathetic. it almost makes me glad that i was driven out of that damned city all those years ago. i still fail to see what i was doing wrong. i just wanted to help, and yet they treated me like garbage. -La Signora (genshin impact)

chapter twenty-three - beyond imagination

it would be generous to say that dottore cared for signora. even more generous to say he showed up out of the kindness of his heart. he was mearly there to please pierro's and the tsaritsa request to atleast show up, merwly only making appearances. he couldn't say the same for his fellow harbingers however and he cared even less whether they were affected by her passing or not.

one thing he was not expecting so soon was the mention of a new 8th harbinger. replacing a harbinger was seemingly rare let alone happening so soon after the place opened up - it left him with the question of whether the tsaritsa actually cared for signora. it was also rare for a new harbinger to assume a position that was not 11th but no one dared question the tsaritsa word.

the tsaritsa had offered you an unresistable offer. it was never a option you saw yourself doing but when you run out of options it became the best option. and with some hesitation you accepted her offer in becoming a harbinger. you were quite shocked to learn that the tsaritsa wanted you to go straight to being the 8th but you felt no room to object.

you were also quite shocked to find out how soon you were to be introduced. it wasn't that shocking when you actually thought about it but it did catch you of guard. but you did also see quite the charm to working in such a strange organisation. the charm being that no one would second guess or even pay attention yo your origin - another reason you accepted the offer.

being a jiangshi meant that from the very start of your life you were faced with an immediate negative stigma. despite the vast amount if half species in tevyat some weren't so lucky in gaining the positive view of the people. and unfortunately that went for you meaning jobs often were hard to come by - which especially wasn't useful considering the financial state snezhnaya was in.

so joining the fatui gave you hope that no one would even care and treat you how they would treat any other coworker, which you knew still wasn't that great but it was improvement. all though you unfortunately would pick up some interest from a particular harbinger with some less than desirable intentions.

dottore cared little for you upon your arrival, to him you were just the new 8th harbinger afterall. and if you were being honest you saw that as a good thing. from the gwt go you could tell you most likely wouldn't like him - that and the fact that one harbinger had informed you of his 'hobby' as he is most famously known for.

but that soon changed when he had infact overheard two of his clones talking about you, things they had overheard from other harbingers. and nothing peaked his curiosity more so than learning that you weren't entirely human. it wasn't a shcoking factor considering he already worked aith aome people of questionable origins but it wasn't everyday he would encounter one such as yours.

unbeknownst to you, your kin had not only built up negative stigma but had become the victims to bedtime stories. used in the way that the so called 'boogeyman' was. and it was just your luck that dottore had read those tales over and over. developing that curiosity of wanting to meet one no matter how rare encounters seemed to be described.

he of course knew that maybe experimenting or wanting to experiment on fellow colleagues was looked down upon, but considering the 6th harbinger that was hardly any concern in reality. the only difference was that you actively worked to avoid him and his advances in trying to perform experiments on you.

ever since his intentions were made clear you made it your life's mission to avoid him. you knew realistically that there was no way you could beat the 2nd harbinger in a fight (if it came to that) so this worked for you. considering you did not want to be his latest victim. unfortunately he seemed rather persistent, even paying off some of your underlinga to convince you.

and this very quickly lead to you spending little time outside your office or inside the palace, in hopes of never seeing that dreaded flock of blue hair - his clones or himself. you had never known someone to be as persistent as he was. eventually it had gotten so bad that pierro noticed this and had to get involved - in reality it started affecting your work.

you had no clue what his issue was considering the other harbingers hardly cared themselves and were very indebted to the 1st harbinger for stepping in and practically saving your skin. pierro wasn't an idiot and knew it was only a temporary situation but atleast he tried. and it did, enough to have the miracle of somehow finding a common ground with dottore.

the common ground being that he would never ask or even imply experimenting on you for your origin and that you could stop trying to avoid him. dottore wasn't that pleased with it but bit his tongue knowing that you two had reached a stalemate. and now it was his turn to avoid you.

now he had a forced lack if interest in you and thus not caring about what you did or where you were. this made you laugh at the irony. but know that this was in place you actually discovered that the only real insane one was dottore himself. you had manages to hold conversations with his clones and surprisingly got along with them.

it probably helped that they hated the doctor aswell. but that being said you didn't understand what had gi so wrong for dottore to be the only impossible one to be around. dottore didn't like the fact his clones started getting seemingly buddy buddy with you but he knew no matter how many times he threatened them it wouldn't work.

however another thing he never expected was the effect this would have on him. he started hearing over and over about you from his clones - not too him but they weren't exactly quite speakers. if he had first impressions from them alone he reckons he would of actually liked you as a new harbinger.

he hated the fact that this was how he was starting to feel towards you. but day by day, he slowly started realising that he would actually get along with you. but sadly his pride and extreme laxk of social skills made him unable to not hate you and he continued to ignore you. perhaps if you ever came round to the pleas of the clones asking you to some how make dottore more bearable to be around, you and dottore may actually get along.

Staring at the blade I wield, I could hear the distant sounds of footsteps slowly approaching as slowly look up to the Raiden Shogan doing her Musou no Hitotachi.

Her divine punishment.

Briefly closing my eyes, the last thing I saw was her holding the blade upwards in the air.

At least, Kazuha will be able to get out alive.

So, this is it. I'll die like this and although I do have some regrets, it seems like, I won't be able to apologize...for everything.

She pops up in my mind, I guess dying with her image in my mind won't be bad...I won't be able to see her beautiful smile and the eyes I love the most.

"?!" I'm suddenly pushed back by a force, and the sounds of blades hitting each other are heard as I pick myself up from the floor. My eyes widen at the sight in front of me.

Electro sparks in the area as the Raiden Shogan pushes down her blade onto the (H/c)'s blade.

"(Y/n)?"

She grits her teeth, struggling to keep the sword from doing any more damage but her strength is decreasing as I could see the Shogan's blade win this fight.

Her (E/c) eyes narrow at the Archon, "run." She says as I look at her confused before I heard footsteps behind me, arms pulling me up.

"Tomo! We need to go—" I look back to see it was Kazuha, breathing heavily and by the looks of it he ran all the way here. He gasps as he looks away from me and to the scene in front of us.

"..(y/n)?" He gasps out just she struggles to hold down the blade as the electro energy burns down on her hand on the grip of the sword.

"You need to run!" She yells, the Shogan's blade pressing more in as the ground underneath the (H/c)-Indigo-haired's feet break from the pressure. "Now!"

Kazuha and I watch in horror as the Shogan does her ultimate move (basically what she did to Signora) as Kazuha holds back me from running to the scenes. Eyes filled with fear before a small stone lands beside us.

Without hesitating, Kazuha picks it up, gripping the taller male's arm, and tugging him back.

Yelling at him that they needed to go but Tomo's eyes were glued to the scene before they start to run away.

Kazuha gripped the electro vision as it went into flames, burning his hand in the process as he held it close to his chest.

Tomo woke up to the feeling of soft paws on his face, groaning as he sat up, his white cat sliding off as it meows at him before jumping off.

He eyes his cat, a little annoyed at being woken up yet he sighs, his tired eyes look at the stone that was turned into a necklace, the dead vision hanging from his neck as if a reminder of what happened that day.

Kazuha also burned his hand in the process but he remains fine physically.

Standing up, he brushes off any dirt on his clothes, he's been having more dreams of that day, and other days, they're just nightmares, blaming himself for what happened.

"Tomo, Captain Beidou is asking for you." One of the crew members of the Crux calls to him, carrying a crate.

He nods, managing to smile at them before it drops as soon as they're gone, sighing, he goes to find Beidou.

Sipping a cup of tea, you eye Aether who is rambling again about how no one bothers to help him find his lost kin.

It's been a couple of months since you met him whenever he's in Liyue, he would come to find as you always let him rant about what happens in his adventures out in the wild.

Learning about his sister was something he was hesitant to share and you completely understood why. You two were similar in some ways.

A strand of your hair falls on your face as you put down the cup with a delicate movement and fold your hands on your lap, making eye contact with the blonde.

Luckily that companion he has was not here, she was never present when you two were together since you voiced out how you didn't quite like having her in these moments so Aether, being the sweetheart he was, made sure to leave her in his teapot for the time being.

Parting your lips, "I have a younger brother," you say, "and similar to your sister, he's not quite on the right path like her."

He looks at you, holding his drink, "under certain circumstances, I decided to follow after him so I could stand by him."

Your gaze dropped to the crowd in the distance, "after all, it's the job of the older sibling to protect the younger one, is it not?" Sighing, you spot a ship in the distance that reminded you of something.

Aether nods, agreeing with what you said, he wants to protect his sister from the dangers but she just pushes him away in the end.

"Similar situation except," you look back at him with half-lidded eyes and arms crossed on your chest, "if my brother asked me to...let's say, sacrifice myself for his benefits, I would do it without hesitation."

He shivers at how your words hold such malice in them "I would do anything to make him reach his goal and be happy." A tiny smile appears on your lips as Aether blinks.

"I know you wouldn't do such a thing, just keep trying to pursue her, she'll change her mind." You say, moving along from what you just revealed to him. "I love my brother dearly, that's all." You grin before gesturing to the boat in the distance with the fan in your hand.

"I heard Beidou is going to host a tournament soon, I think you should join." He gives you a look, "the prize might interest you."

One of his brows raises at the mention of a prize as he gives you his best puppy eyes to tell him what the prize is. He had heard people that the Crux crew was holding a tournament but he wasn't interested, he just wanted a way to go to Inazuma to find the Electro Archon.

Your eyes narrow at him as you learn in a bit and in a hushed tone you spoke, "The prize is an empty vision,

and maybe you could ask Beidou to give you a ride to Inazuma since it looks like the vision doesn't interest you."

Leaning back, you watch as he takes in the information and he stands up, his knee hits the side of the table, making him wince in pain.

Rubbing his knee, he quickly waves at you before leaving to get Paimon as you sigh, content with how things are going.

Enjoying this brief moment of relaxation before work begins again.

A spot of black fog emerges from behind you, a Pyro Agent kneeling before you, his head bowing as you sigh in annoyance.

"Your orders..."

Your eyes linger on the boat before looking at the now cold cup of tea in front of you, "Prepare a pen and paper, I need to send a letter to my brother."

The Pyro Agent shivers at your tone, he wished you treat him like how you treat the traveler—

"Let us begin."

He quickly takes out the materials, handing them to you as you thanked him.

He waits in utter silence as your scribble away, taking a chance to admire you this close. In his old job, he remembers always watching from a distance as his position as a guard for the Shogun was nothing really special but here......

Signing your name at the end of the letter, you put it in your pocket.

"W-where will we be headed next?" The agent asks, watching as you stood up from your seat and to the railing, admiring the scenery of Liyue, the wind blowing strands of your hair.

"Inazuma." You answer, "Signora is waiting for my arrival."

"The Fair Lady is already there?"

You nod, "yes and I'll soon meet up with my creator,

Ei, the electro archon after 500 years of her abandoning us."

Your voice is timid and small as you spoke about her. Yes, you'll get to see her after so long but for a different reason.

The agent lowers his gaze, "I'll prepare your things for the trip." A aching pain in his chest as he bows before walking away, leaving you alone with your thoughts.

Imagine you're not realistic, I mean. You popped into Phantasia, a city for creations like you. Yep, that's right, you're a drawing! After you've been created. You don't fit the criteria of a drawing, how you walk the talk is a kin to a regular person. You're neither.

You aren't bound to the laws of human physics. You can bend in unimaginable positions that weren't possible, fold, electrocute, hell. You can jump off a cliff and you won't die. Still you bleed and get bruises from it before a few shake offs.

One of the things you didn't like about yourself is that you're an assistant bunny girl in a magician's suit. And yes, you do have stockings. Most people can't take you seriously when you tell them you looked up to Betty Boop. You'll show them, and rub it in their faces that a deformed 'creation' like you could have their own show!

No entertainment programs could accept you due to your humane features, you weren't eye catching enough. Nor do you do funny gags consistently enough to retain children's attention for a good amount of time like other regular normal cartoons like Tom and Jerry, SpongeBob, Looney toons or maybe even Disney's toons. But children's educational programs allowed you to star in their shows. Even if you also attracted adults to the program when you didn't mean to. As long as you're being paid, not in peanuts like dumbo the elephant and the others.

But there is a particular group of people you aren't that much aware of in the entertainment industry. Today you're supposed to air in other countries like in Snezhnaya. You're acutely aware of them, but as a creation you have nothing to do with it. And besides you got kids to teach!

Occasionally, you get to meet other people. Like this child named Teucer who's been your fan since the show aired. At the convention, you're here for a meet and greet with some fans, of course all of them are lovely like him. Alongside is his brother Tartaglia who watched your show with Teucer.

Soon, someone from the entertainment industry proposed to you to let you have your own show like your own show, with its own educational flair. Though you owe everything to the first educational program you've entered, it feels rather scary that they offered a position that pays well and higher exposure.

In the end, you stayed with your program until the series finale when your partner, Kiki the protagonist, has grown up to be a fine woman. Often she comes to you for help.

So right now with income gone, left jobless. With merchandising still going strong and passively giving you some retirement funds.

Thinking about that little boy named Teucer. You dabbled into a side gig of being an entertainer at parties. And of course your first customer would be the little ginger boy at his birthday party.

You entertained guests with neat tricks and gave all fun games and rewards for anyone who participated.

Except for one kid who you couldn't cheer up. An indigo haired boy in a formal suit. Whenever you looked at him, he made a deeper frown than the last.

You discovered his name is Scaramouche and was forced to go to this 'kid's birthday party'. So you tried to cheer him up with fun party tricks like being in two places at once, though it drains you to do that.

Teucer's older brother Childe seemed to be interested and asked for your phone's number.

It lead to multiple meetups like at the park or even at Phantasia. There you met some of his other friends like Mr. Capitano, Ms. Signora. The latter had given you great tips on how to sound better when singing.

Columbina and Arlecchino are an odd bunch, since they just gave you some treats and sweets, then left. But you recognize the maiden anywhere, she licensed your studio's theme song and soundtracks. So you're lucky to even see her.

Meanwhile this 'Doctor' person kept asking you out on 'dates' to quote on quote to 'investigate' further. But of course he was stopped by a high ranking socialite Mr. Pantalone.

This boss person, you could have sworn you've met somewhere before in your life. Him and creations don't mix like water and oil but after meeting you, he just tolerates you since you aren't as wacky as the other creations from Fantasia's studios or something of the like. He somewhat finds it odd to know that you worked in the education program instead of-... Nope nevermind!

You liked Sandrone and Pulcinella, (mostly Sandrone) since they interacted with you the most. Asking how creations like you work, occasionally gives you a drawing of an outfit which thankfully adds a variety to your wardrobe and not wearing the same outfits each visit.

Thanks to them, you get to meet a very special person. The Tsaritsa herself in private! She's kind and warm just as they described her as such.

So in Destiny, we have Ghosts, little small robot dudes who float and are small enough to grab in your hand Their main ability is to find a someone and resurrect them as a Risen, also called Guardians. After their first resurrection where a body is needed, there are very few factors outside the destruction of one's Ghost that can prevent a Guardian from being revived from even complete destruction of their very body. We also have history of Risen becoming warlords, and also Ghosts not allied to the majority of their kin. Where am I going with this? Simple.

What if Ghosts showed up in Teyvat? Imagine the look on people's faces when they see a loved ones brought back, but with no real memory of themselves. No personal memories like their name, but certain traits and skills are retained. Imagine if nameless bard or Crepus were brought back.

My main interest is Signora though. Imagine the Reader being paired with Signora, calling her Rosa as a new name, showing up to a meeting where the Harbingers and Tsaritsa are speaking. How would they react to seeing her? She isn't truly Signora, but the similarities are there.

Oh, there will be a lot of confusion. Especially on Rosa's part.

She doesn't know them; not even a faint memory remains. And, yet, some recall her, like The Knave. According to The Captain, she was a great person to the Fatui, but her methods weren't the greatest (which, is fair, but she's curious about what she did...)

And The Tsaritsa is torn. She seems like she wants nothing more than to hug her like the olden times, and tell her it will be alright... but, she stays her hands from her. Is it because of her no longer being La Signora, and now just 'Rosa'?

It's sad, to her. And moreso, to everyone else. Including, and most importantly and affected of this, The Tsaritsa herself.

something I actually hate in zhongchi fic is when the authors keep writing that he’s feeling guilty about what he did in liyue and/or he’s angry with zhongli for de deception. He clearly doesn’t regret his actions and would definitely do it all again and he doesn’t care about zhongli lying to him. It’s like they didn’t read any of his texts or didn’t pay attention to the liyue story. He’s not a cinnamon roll as everyone likes to say. They claim he is their favorite character or that they kin him but the version they are refering is so twisted and unreal.

For real though, I hate this trope in tartali/zhongchi fiction regardless. I once saw someone's summery being "I'm going to keep Childe mad at Zhongli because other fics let him off from what he did too easily" and I'm like "BRO? WHAT FICS ARE YOU READING AS LITERALLY EVERYONE MAKES ZHONGLI OUT TO BE THE BAD GUY WHO NEEDS TO BEG FOR CHILDE'S FORGIVENESS".

I actually read a fic recently that handled an after confrontation with Zhongli and Childe perfectly. They still had Childe being upset as he was used, however he and Zhongli talked and Zhongli explained all he could about his contract and how it was never personal. Then, when Childe points out he never directly apologised to Childe during his explanation, Zhongli returns it with how he has never apologised for what he did to Liyue. Neither of them ended up apologising, you know why?

BECAUSE THEY BOTH HAD THEIR OWN AGENDERS THAT THEY WOULD FOLLOW THROUGH WITH NO MATTER WHAT AND WOULD BOTH UNDERSTAND WHY THE OTHER DID SO.

Childe was originally upset that he was used as he doesn't like to be involved in the schemes of other Harbingers. But he said himself that all he needs from Zhongli is that fight that he was robbed from. And then Zhongli's voicelines confirm that they are still friends.

The woobifying of Childe is something I despise in fandom. I hate that I got into another fandom and what happened to one of my favourites (Dabi) back then is happening AGAIN with another favourite of mine.

Yes, Childe is relatable and easy to project on. Did he get angry at Zhongli and Signora? Yes. However he is not an overly emotional wreck who was completely and utterly ruined by Zhongli telling him who he was, at most he was annoyed he was robbed of a fight and his pride got hurt.

The irony of this situation though, which I've said so many times I might as well be blue in the face from it, is that CHILDE USED ZHONGLI TOO! He very openly used him to get close to the exuvia, he was just honest about it.

Meanwhile, Zhongli could literally not say anything because HE WAS UNDER CONTRACT AND BY THE ARCHONS HOW DARE THE GOD OF CONTRACTS OBEY HIS CONTRACT.

Yeah, yeah, it's transformative fiction and people can write what they want and how they want but I just don't want my favourite characters watered down anymore.

I get it, we like to give Zhongli a closer relationship with Childe than just friends, I've done it too, I've enjoyed fics that do this as well, but does it get frustrating to see Childe treated as an innocent little bean while Zhongli has to drown in guilt because how dare he lie to him!

LOL it reminds me of a viral tweet I saw on twitter about the new Superman cartoon/anime where Lois gets mad that Clark never told her he was Superman and the QRTs were just people wondering why Lois deserved to know a secret of Clark's that he wasn't comfortable sharing with her just yet? Ironically this is the same situation with Zhongli and Childe, where Childe wasn't owed any knowledge of Zhongli's other identity but this time people think he was entitled to it, even though Childe was an active threat towards that identity and was honest about being so.

My favourite thing these stories do is have Childe say "I would have forsaken my mission" or something along those lines and that just isn't Childe. Childe didn't particularly want to drown the harbor but he did so for his mission, he didn't mind attacking the traveler, who he saw as his friend, for his mission, what makes you think he wouldn't have shoved his hand straight in Zhongli's chest if he knew the truth?

He probably wouldn't have LIKED doing it, but he would have. Because he's loyal to a point and a man that never goes back on his vows and promises.

It's why I love Childe, he's such a complicated and messy character who has done terrible things, he plays by his own rules and that means even going against his own morals to do so. I do like exploring him being mad at Zhongli (again I've done so myself) but we can do so without making him the victim because he was FAR FROM IT.

I love exploring the mess that is Zhongli and his relationship, I love the drama and the angst but I also love how perfect they fit together once they get over those hurdles.

I just hate the one-sided anger from the fandom towards Zhongli for no reason.

Urgh, sorry for the long rant. I bottle up this frustration all the time so when people give me the chance to let loose, I really let loose.
