WoL Spotlight: Etienne Vernoux-Livreau de Guillemette

Etienne Vernoux-Livreau (de Guillemette)

Etienne's mother, Marianne Vernoux, worked as a barmaid at the Forgotten Knight in Ishgard. She had a one-night stand with Ser Pierre Livreau, a Holy See lancer from House Guillemette. Marianne kept Etienne's existence a secret from Pierre.

He spent his early childhood living with his mother in the Brume. He helped in the tavern by waiting tables and running errands. Etienne knew his way around Ishgard's dark alleys and streets. Whenever adventurers came to the Forgotten Knight, he begged them for stories about their travels.

Marianne fell ill and died when Etienne was 11. Pierre went to her bedside and was dumbstruck that she never told him that he had a son. Pierre decided to give his son a better life and took him to be trained as a squire.

Unfortunately, Etienne discovered that he was a strong talent for magecraft. During a skirmish with bandits, he defended his father and a group of trainees with offensive magic. The Inquisitors of the Holy See found out about this and took his to be trained as an Inquisitor over his father's objections.

His time with the Inquisitors scarred him, and left him with a cynical attitude towards magic in general and odd habits and phobias. Etienne escaped to Gridania when he was 16, and became an adventurer and a lancer-for-hire.

He didn't return to Ishgard until Heavensward. Count Edmont had known his father. (Pierre had conveniently 'sought Halone's Halls' during a skirmish with dragons. Edmont suspected the Inquisitors had arranged Pierre's demise, though he couldn't prove it.) It was that (and Haurchefant's good word) that convinced him to take him as a ward. Etienne met Ser Alberic Bale, the former Azure Dragoon, who helped train him as a Dragoon.

Later he met and married his wife, a Xaela named Bess Dotharl, who is a cousin of Sadu. During their courtship, they sparred, and she kicked his arse. He married her anyway. They went to work for Captain Lear Dzamael's mercenary company in Ishgard.

I wanted to ask, what kind of character is Azra?

Does she have a story behind her, personality, likes and dislikes, what?

Azra is a Sifan soothsayer, herbalist, and "witch." Mostly a witch because that's what she prefers to be called....but not many gelfling take too kindly to that title.

She learned much of her talents from her paternal grandmother, who she calls Gran.

Both of her parents died while on an expedition when she was a childling. As a result, she fears the open sea and boarding ships. Unlike many/all Sifa who journey the open seas, Azra stays on land concocting potions and charms. She's quite popular amongst gelfling looking to get revenge on a former lover.

Azra is most famously known for her "odd" behavior of enjoying all things creepy, grotesque, and scary. Not too many gelfling genuinely enjoy her company, but she doesn't care. She has her soul sister, Shiyoon who belongs to my friend @jack-toons

Her personality is kinda hard for me to describe. She's laid back and chill, but she has her creepy antics that make her appear "weird," but she's a fun lass to be around once she's deemed someone her friend.

Azra dislikes loud gelfling, so she avoids big parties and taverns. Although she has a great love for her friends and family, Azra does not have time for romantic love. She's not interested in it and is happy to be single!

Azra has two pet giant centipedes who are named Goldie and Sawtooth. They are her babies and she speaks about them like any pet parent lol

I hope this gives a bit of insight on Azra. She's one of my favorite Ocs- lol I have so many but I love them all.

Gift art for my bestest friend @thanatasia ! This is her OC Fleur and her man’s Razer having a nice peaceful get away after he’s back from a long sailing trip in a forest of stone in the wood. They missed each other dearly!! Ahh this was a joy to illustrate! Both characters are beautifully designed and work so well off each other ! Can’t wait to see more fluffy and romantic content from their creators. Thanks for taking a look !

Ordon and Ethri - Meeting of a lifetime

The dock of the Sifan clan were as busy as ever for today the Stonewood Maudra, Vala, was coming to talk about an alliance. Ethri raced to the Omerya only to collide with her brothers, causing Cadia and herself to fall over on their faces. Cadia was the first to rise, brushing the dust off himself calmly before helping his sister get onto her feet.

“I get that toda’ is a bus’ da’, but watch where ye’re walkin’, got it?” He gently warned, before his attention was diverted to his twin children who wanted their mother to pick them up. Ethri rolled her eyes a bit before sighing in agreement.

“Fine… Only because you are my brother.” She replied as Cadia motioned for her to hurry, once she arrived her father noticed her and silently asked for her to brush the rest of the sand off of herself. She quickly obeyed as she walked to her spot, bumping into a guard in the process. When she looked to the man in order to apologize, she saw a handsome, square jawed Stonewood with raven black hair, and chestnut eyes, causing her to stare and drool a bit. The man looked concerned as she continued to stare and drool.

“Uh? Your highness? Are you alright?” He asked, a bit worried that he had done something to upset her. She then blushed as she realized what she was doing.

“I am so sorry!! I just find you handsome and attractive, Sir.” She admitted before hearing him chuckle.

“Is that so? Well in that case, you should at least know my name.” He said before adding. “My name is Ordon, the son of the high advisor, Advor and his husband Eurias. And may I ask for your name, Princess?” She blushed profoundly when she heard his name and decided to give him hers.

“My name is Ethri, the daughter of Cadistin and Maudra Asdria.” She replied with a warm smile, which made him want to smile back.

“Milady, It is an honor to meet you. I’ve heard a big deal of you from Toyln, but I didn’t realize his description of you was accurate and truthful.” He admitted which made Ethri giggle at him, before looking at her with some embarrassment in his posture and expression. The Sifan princess felt a bit sorry for him, and decided to cheer him up a bit.

“Soo… What else did my brother tell you about me?”

Day 7: Sifan

LET'S GOOO IT'S DAY SEVEN WOOOHOOOO

Today is the seventh and final day of @the-seven-clans-week challenge!

Here's what I drew:

This is a couple from an rp that lives rent free in my head lol.

The ship is of my OC Andreas, the taller one, and @fenth-eiria 's OC Caurjit, the shorter one! I actually had a lot of fun drawing him, I know I kinda butchered him (especially his hairline) but I think he came out rather well!

I had a lot of fun, and should really draw more couples!

This challenge was a LOT of fun for me, it really helped with my planning ahead!

The Calm Before the Storm (FFXIV, Lilene Asterneau, Heavensward)

The calm before the storm... She feels that she can smile again when he's there. The only thing that they need to do is to let everyone know they are together. It’s no big secret at this point; in fact, everyone in Fortemps manor know, including Alphinaud and Tataru.  Of course, once they take care of the crisis at the Vault and rescue Ser Aymeric, it will be a new chapter in their lives, despite the shadow of trouble in Ishgard.

I had come across @violettenouvel #kissartfebruary and had to participate!

I forgot to include the day and the prompt name (First Kiss)- maybe I was too excited because this is the first full color anything I actually completed since I had these two cosplaying as Sarah and Jareth the Goblin King. I can’t promise the others will be just as grand as this one- I have an important project I have to complete so the rest might be clean inks with tones.

You know OceanPetals had to be first lol

Sunsets are their thing at least when I draw them. Don’t ask me why I gave Fleur so many blues/blue violets in her design, I was too excited drawing the first time I guess 😅 The background I wanted to use at first was a moonlight but it was making her disappear.

Their first kiss happens sometime after Fleur gives her big confession to Razer. Oh boy do I have a preliminary script for her dialogue. One of these days we’ll see it as either a comic or storyboard mock up.

A soft yet firm first kiss to show the emotions of that moment. Fleur’s been dying to kiss Razer, and the knowledge of having her feelings reciprocated makes it all the more beautiful to her.

I’m pretty proud of myself with this coloring style. Mostly line-less aside from areas that really needed it. I plan to work more in this coloring style to get it to a place where I feel confident doing it more often.

This honestly sounds really cute and I'd totally read it! :)

If you want my unsolicited suggestions: I think it'd work to make them not made fun of if you really go in in Ayumu's, like, 'eww parents being all lovey-dovey in front of me >:(' reactions; like, objectively they're just incredibly wholesome and functional, even despite their pretty complicated arrangement! Ooh ooh, and this contrasts with Ayumu and how much she's dragging her heels with confessing to Yu, despite how long she's felt that way - and she only needs to make it work with one person, not three!! On top of Ayumu just Hating the situation because, does that mean she and Yu can't be together if they're 'really' siblings?! and sorta... lashing out a bit in unhelpful ways because of that.

On the topic of fanfiction I'm not writing, I don't think I've mentioned here my most persistent Nijigasaki plotbunny:

Ayumu and Yu discovering — and coming to terms with the fact — that their four collective parents have actually been a polycule for over a decade.

Half of this is my honest suspicion about the situation — really, the two families who've lived in adjacent apartments since before their kids were in school take all their vacations together? — and half is just wanting to play with Marmalade Boy-style shenanigans. Unlike a lot of my fic ideas, there's actually a story here, but I'm vague on some details, and it's been a very long time since I wrote anything as long as this would need to be.

I figure Ayumu would discover this first (both because she's going to fret about things more and because Yu is, as a harem protagonist, contractually obligated to be more oblivious to things), probably by seeing something she wasn't supposed to. Let's say she is running back up the stairs to get the lunch she forgot when she sees each set of parents kissing each other goodbye. She stops, embarrassed, and decides to give them a moment instead of interrupting, which is why she's still standing there to see her dad kiss Yu's mom, and her mom kiss Yu's dad. It's then mostly her shock that keeps her watching the couples regroup again to have the husbands kiss each other, and the wives. (I want the relationship to be totally mutual and all of them bi; part of this is avoiding some of the tropes around combining two married couples and part is that I think it's just more interesting.)

(To avoid the more unsavory end of the Marmalade Boy shenanigans, I think I want it clear that the couples first met each other after the kids were born.)

The next bit would presumably be Ayumu re-evaluating a number of memories — oh, god, was that why Yu and I got our own hotel room on vacation? Why our moms were giggling when our dads went on that fishing trip? — and I think it's funniest most productive if she confides in Setsuna before confronting Yu. Setsuna, then, has to balance being a good friend and comforting Ayumu against letting her imagination treat the situation like fiction and getting overly excited.

And then there's the sequence where Ayumu actually does tell Yu. And I think it'll take a bit for Ayumu to actually spell out the situation and get what's going on I kind of think Yu will under-react, from Ayumu's perspective — this is huge, why isn't she more bothered by this? Because after a little bit of surprise, Yu is going to be largely supportive of their parents, because they're happy, aren't they?

Which is all leading to Ayumu considering how close Yu is to the other club members. "Hitori dake nante erabenai yo!" and all that. Is a relationship like that what Yu wants?

And considering how Ayumu herself feels about some of the other girls — is it what she herself wants?

Anyway. Writing all that out helps some. But turning this into a story would involve a few difficulties. First off, I'd need to turn the parents into full OCs, and flesh out their relationships with their kids a little more — they've been very firmly off-screen.
