Advent thoughts.
It's been almost two weeks since my last day of being gainfully employed. Each day, I would wake up dreading the moment when I would suddenly fall victim to anxiety, not knowing when my next payment would come or where it would come from. But here's what I can gather from my spotty 19-year journey of faith: Faith is work but with trust in God. After a long and unsuccessful relationship ended in 2015, I decided to do what I never got to do while saving up for a wedding: travel. I had saved up around RM50,000 by then and after getting a regular gig writing about travel and lifestyle for the NSTP, I thought "Why not?" I started with a solo trip to Kaoshiung in September 2016, then to Melbourne in November 2016, and to Hong Kong and Macau in December 2016. I even rang in the New Year in HK. By 2017, I decided (out of faith) to plan some more travels every other month or so: Hanoi in March, Perth in April, Siem Reap in May, Tokyo in August and Puerto Princesa in September. In addition to enjoying myself and seeing places I'd always wanted to visit, I also wanted to write about them for NSTP -- a way of stewarding the writing talent that I have. I wasn't paid that well then and I was readily expecting to deplete my savings by the end of 2017 just travelling. Surprisingly, new opportunities sprung up as I decided to use my God-given talent well. I was even approached by MPH Publishing to write a book and was invited to give a talk to a group of college students on what it means to follow their dreams. In the end, I didn't end up using any of my savings anyway. God provided for me the whole way, even when I felt like my decision to spend money on travelling was wasteful and selfish (one would always argue that I could've donated to charity instead, right?). Nonetheless, what I've learned from half a lifetime journeying with Christ is that He really wants us to live life to the fullest, and that means living a joyous, gratitude-filled life that's motivated to serve others with our God-given talents. I've learned that I serve God and people best when I'm happy and my cup is filled to the brim.
I intend to do the same next year -- using my God-given talent as a writer and communicator to serve people, and ultimately God, through Kookie Jar. If He calls you to it, He will give you the grace for it. I've had a pretty active prayer life throughout my 19 spotty years as a Christian and I can attest that God loves to say yes to anything and everything -- unless something better can come up from Him saying no. Ever since the age of 21, all I wanted was to find a husband and I had prayed my hardest on this more than anything. By age 36, when my last potential relationship fell through, I was finally ready to accept that perhaps God did want me to be single after all. I sulked for a while asking God what was wrong with me and why couldn't He grant me a prayer that seemed so natural for most people to get. Besides, He had said yes to my more outlandish (and seemingly more unnecessary) prayers before like giving me enough money to travel and giving me a book deal. Why not give me a husband? Nonetheless, I'd witnessed lots of family breakdowns and marriages fall apart during the pandemic. Suddenly, I was thankful that I was spared from the pain. I also realised something about myself that I wasn't honest enough to accept before: I don't really like sharing my space with other people. Therefore, had I been married with children, I would definitely have gone crazy by then.
I never wanted to admit this before as this seemed so selfish and opposed to what good Christians should be. But God has taught me that this is OK, it's just how I am. Not everyone has the gift of hospitality (it is a real gift!) and it's OK coz I still have other things to offer to the Body of Christ.
Last words. I'm not sure what 2025 is going to be like, but in a way not knowing is a good thing as it allows God to work in my life according to His will without me imposing my own ideas on Him. One thing for sure, I want Kookie Jar to be a testament of God's grace in my life. It started with a call 10 years ago, when I decided out of faith, to create a Facebook page for Kookie Jar, offering PR and communications services with only 1 year of experience under my belt. However, God was faithful to reward my tiny faith: by July 2015, I had managed to enjoy RM12,000 in profit, replenishing the savings that I had depleted after I lost my job in December 2014. I'd often look back and wonder how this happened. I have no explanation. Only God.
Today, with an additional 10 years of PR experience under my belt and another 10 years of God's faithfulness as a reference point, I have no reason to doubt that He can indeed do all things far unimaginable (Ephesians 3:20). I can't wait to see Him show up and show off again in my life.

How to Choose the Best Angkor Wat Tour Package for Your Luxury Cambodia Adventure
Cambodia is a land of enchanting temples, rich history, and breathtaking landscapes. At the heart of this captivating country lies Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see destination for travelers worldwide. If you’re planning to explore this iconic site, opting for the right Angkor Wat tour package can make your journey seamless and memorable. Here’s a guide on how to choose the perfect tour package for your trip to Siem Reap and beyond.
1. Understand Your Travel Goals
Before selecting a tour, identify what you want to experience. Are you drawn to the architectural grandeur of Angkor Wat, or do you wish to explore the hidden temples of the Angkor Archaeological Park? If luxury and comfort are priorities, look for a Luxury Cambodia Tour that offers private guides, five-star accommodations, and personalized services to enhance your visit.
2. Research Siem Reap Tour Packages
Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor Wat and other cultural gems. A well-curated Siem Reap tour package should include visits to iconic sites like Ta Prohm, Bayon Temple, and Banteay Srei. Ensure the package includes knowledgeable guides who can provide insights into the history and significance of these temples.
3. Check the Itinerary Details
A good tour package should balance exploration and relaxation. Look for packages that offer a mix of guided tours and free time to explore at your own pace. If you’re aiming for a luxurious experience, ensure the itinerary includes unique activities such as sunrise views at Angkor Wat, private spa treatments, or a traditional Apsara dance performance over dinner.
4. Consider Transportation and Amenities
Luxury travelers often prefer packages that include private transportation, ensuring convenience and comfort. Many Luxury Cambodia tours also offer high-end amenities, such as stays in boutique hotels or resorts, gourmet dining experiences, and tailored excursions.
5. Read Reviews and Compare Options
Finally, compare multiple tour providers and read reviews to ensure quality service. Look for feedback on the guides, accommodations, and overall experience.
With the right Angkor Wat Tour Package or Siem Reap Tour Package, your journey through Cambodia promises to be a blend of awe-inspiring sights and luxurious indulgence, creating memories to last a lifetime.
