so here's a quick breakdown of my weekend.

i attended this year's desucon, in lahti, finland, which was my first convention post-covid, they held the event last year and the winter counterpart, desucon frostbite, this year but i didn't attend them.

the event was from friday to sunday, i left work at 3 pm friday and got home on sunday a bit before 8 pm.

the event is held yearly in summer, and is considered one of the most prestigious anime events in finland, due to it's long-standing run-time and it's quality of contents. (sidenote; there's currently not many competing events as some of them went bankrupt or stopped production)

desucon is hugely popular, but limited with the location of the convention being sibeliustalo (literally "sibelius house", named after musician jean sibelius) which is a building built around an old factory, which has a concert hall and a congress wing with various meeting rooms. as such, the maximum capacity is only 3000, and there's only 2900 tickets for sale.

i was really lucky to have a chance to go to the event (which sold out in less than a minute) and i really enjoyed the lectures there. the con hosts lectures, workshops, cosplay contest, maid café, artists' alley, dealers' room and gaming room, but i like the lectures the most and experienced some really good lectures, though i missed out on a few as well. for purchases, i kinda thought i'd be spending more money, though was slightly disappointed at the figure selection in the dealers' room and con flea market. for figures, i bought one noodle stopper figure (sporty maid miku) and the old type-moon ones (dust saber, broken wrist archer and pubic hair face lancer) and for small merch, a couple of keychains, stickers and a lanyard etc. and a single volume of manga.

overall, a pretty fun time, even if i'm exhausted now. i'll see if i'll go in the future.

Tarja Turusen ja Pentti Hietasen odotettu Kaunotar ja Kulkuri -kiertue järjestetään toukokuussa. Kaikkiaan yhdeksän konserttia ja kaupunkia sisältävän kiertueen ohjelmisto sisältää kummankin unohtumattomimpia sävelmiä. Luvassa on myös kaksikon yhteisiä numeroita, joissa Turusen kirkas sopraano ja Hietasen upea tenoriääni soivat duettona.
