Song of the Day: Peace of Mind
Song of the Day: Peace of Mind - If you don't like Boston, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Today’s song is Peace of Mind by Boston. “Lots of people out to make believe they’re livin'”. If the intimate, soaring guitar of Tom Scholz doesn’t get you, then you’ll dig the drums by Sib Hashian. “I understand about indecision But I don’t care if I get behind People livin’ in competition All I want is to have my peace of mind”

Many tend to forget Guns N' Roses' Appetite For Destruction was their debut, they sound so assured on the record you think you're dealing with music veterans. The same could be said about the eponymous debut by Boston, though their sounds couldn't be more different. Nonetheless, they do have their share of similarities. I mean, Boston's sonic landscape also got taken by many in an attempt to replicate their success, which is why the band continues to get mocked despite the fact their tunes have more joie de vivre than their imitators. Just check their most famous song to hear what I mean. Sure, the piece might have been played too often, yet you still sing along to that euphoric chorus. You are correct, the composition just works perfectly.

Holy cow! I never realized how much Barry Goudreau (first on the left, bottom row) and Brad Delp (second from the right on the bottom) from Boston resemble Eric Bloom (first on the right, top) and Buck Dharma (the one getting picked up) from Blue Öyster Cult! Buck and Barry could practically be twins, and if Brad had on sunglasses here, he’d at least look like a cousin of Eric’s.
(Disclaimer: The parenthesis are for the benefit of fans of one band who don't really know the other well enough to tell who's who. Obviously, I know BÖC fans know how to find Eric and Buck, and dedicated Boston fans would know too.)
