Song of the Day: Peace of Mind - If you don't like Boston, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Today’s song is Peace of Mind by Boston.
“Lots of people out to make believe they’re livin'”.
If the intimate, soaring guitar of Tom Scholz doesn’t get you, then you’ll dig the drums by Sib Hashian.
“I understand about indecision
But I don’t care if I get behind
People livin’ in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind”
Many tend to forget Guns N' Roses' Appetite For Destruction was their debut, they sound so assured on the record you think you're dealing with music veterans. The same could be said about the eponymous debut by Boston, though their sounds couldn't be more different. Nonetheless, they do have their share of similarities. I mean, Boston's sonic landscape also got taken by many in an attempt to replicate their success, which is why the band continues to get mocked despite the fact their tunes have more joie de vivre than their imitators. Just check their most famous song to hear what I mean. Sure, the piece might have been played too often, yet you still sing along to that euphoric chorus. You are correct, the composition just works perfectly.

Monday 8pm ET: Feature Artist: Boston Boston is an American rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, which had its most notable successes during the 1970s and 1980s.
There's something slightly unreal about the 70's rock music titans, their colosallity gives them that sheen. I mean, you can hear this quality in many groups of that period, but I would claim Boston top them all in that regard, unless you mention Queen. Actually, both of these groups are the masters of the sonic immensity and they also have incredible guitarists in their lineups. However, Tom Scholz feels different than Brian May, because he's more comfortable tinkering his guitar lines within the confines of the studio. To be honest, he applies his perfectionism to other parts of tunes as well. That's why we shouldn't be shocked their eponymous debut sold a lot, the entire LP gets all the best of the 70's into one neat package. Yes, Boston seem that phantasmagoric.
