Sitting and waiting at the paternity office, I looked over and groaned as Janae cried weakly into KC’s chest. I honestly wish he would have left her annoying ass at home, but I guess this involves her too since my son is gonna be the twins’ half brother. Ever since people found out about my pregnancy, I’ve been judged. I had to change schools when I first found out so of course rumors spreaded like wildfire but everybody can kiss my ass. As long as Kaiden is good, I’m good. “Wills and Mendez?” Getting up, I carried Kaiden as he slept in his car seat and walked in while KC held the door for me and Janae. Taking a seat in the office, we were greeted by the doctor and listened carefully for the results.

“Hello, everyone. I understand that you all took a paternity test a few days back and we have the results for you in these envelopes. Would you like me to read them aloud or to yourselves?” “Um… aloud.” He said shakily as his body trembled in the seat. “Is that ok with you, miss?” “Yea, it’s fine.” Taking the results out, I sat up as Janae bit her nails nervously and Kass looked down at the ground. “In the case of Mendez v. Wills as it pertains to three month old Kaiden Angelo Mendez, the results find Mr. Wills to be a 99.99997% match as the potential father.” Watching them break down crying, I shed a few tears at how heartbroken he looked to find out he had a son. I know how much he loves Janae, it’s obvious, but if she loves him back she can deal with the fact that she can’t hold all his attention anymore. She has to share with Kaiden.

Running out of the room, he called after her and sat back down crying even more as I sat in silence and made sure our son was ok. “Can I?” “What?” Looking up at his sad expression. “Can I hold him?” Nodding slowly, I picked him up as he stirred a little bit in his sleep and handed him over to KC. “Hi, daddy’s boy. I can’t believe I have a son.”

Putting on the final touches to my makeup, I walked over to the bed and admired my outfit before putting it on and tying my heels. Hearing a knock on the door, I asked whoever it was to come in as I put on a bit more lipstick. Watching Ellis walk in, he saw my outfit and scrunched his eyebrows. “Where you going? Dinner bout to start in ten minutes.” “I have a date.” Laughing obnoxiously, he stopped seeing I wasn’t reacting. “Run that by me again?” “I’m going on a date. Don’t wait up.” I said grabbing my clutch and walking towards the door when he firmly grabbed my wrist. “Oh no the hell you not! You ain’t going nowhere, Erika. I’m not fucking playing with you.” “And who the hell do you think you are to tell me where I can and can’t go.” “I’m your husband!” “Since when?!” Clenching his jaw, he let me go as I rubbed the sore spot in my arm and scowled at him.

“You know I really fucking tried to deal with this amnesia shit, but I can’t no more. It’s been three fucking months and you don’t even remember your husband of twenty years. The doctor told me you would get better and shit. ‘Don’t push her too hard, Mr. Ellis’ 'Let her work through her own progress’, well I can’t! If you wanna go on your bullshit ass date, then fucking go. Leave!” Sitting on the bed, he laid his head in his hands as he rocked back and forth crying. Feeling bad, I stood there silently before I heard giggling coming from the hall. Looking up, I saw Peyton’s youngest child, PJ, running in the hall as his dog Bosco Jr. chased him. Watching the light reflect off of BJ’s collar and flash in my eyes, I was hit with the memories of the crash, me and Peyton’s argument beforehand, and everything else before that.

Gasping sharply, I looked around and realized I was in the guest room as Peyton sat crying on the bed. “Bear, why are you crying?” “What did you just call me?” “Bear. The same thing I’ve been calling you since we first met.” I said looking at him confused as to why he would ask me that. Jumping up, he ran at me and scooped me up in the air before spinning around. “Baby, you’re making me dizzy!” Putting me down, he kissed all over me and hugged me making me smile. “Did I miss something?” “Not a thing, baby. Not a thing.”

“Ok, you got the snacks ready, Ellie?” “Yea. What about you, Mari? Are the movies all set?” “Queued up and ready to go. Think she’ll like it?” “I think she’ll love it.” Getting her text that she was here, the other girls hid as I went to get the door. Opening it, I saw her looking sad and I frowned. “Awww, sweetie, what happened?” “I saw him today and he looked so broken, and he said he had something to tell me but that it would change my opinion on him, so he was afraid to say. I had went to the paternity office because I was feeling like something wasn’t right, and I asked for Kaiden’s date of conception.” “And when was it?” “November.” She said crying. Remembering that they celebrated their first month of dating in November, I quickly walked over and hugged her as she sobbed on my chest. “He cheated on me, Summer. He fucking cheated.”
