uhh? snippet of an old xinyun oneshot i have left drafted for a very very long time

Xingqiu sat up properly, making Chongyun’s head snap back to the other. There was a brief moment of silence as they stared into each other’s eyes. Xingqiu’s heart skipped a beat as he mustered up the courage to speak, “Can I kiss you, Chongyun?”

If Chongyun’s face wasn’t red before, it definitely was now. His sparkling eyes went wide in surprise, a hand shyly covering his mouth. Chongyun seemed to contemplate on this for a few moments, Xingqiu’s grip on his hand loosening once he was starting to realise that maybe he had asked a little too soon. Chongyun was quick to grab onto Xingqiu’s hand once again, pressing it against his chest. Xingqiu’s breath hitched - the other’s heartbeat was so quick, it really felt like his heart was about to explode out of his chest. Chongyun’s touch was surprisingly so cold, maybe all of the blood had rushed to his face.

Xingqiu opened up his mouth to apologise, but Chongyun beat him to it.

“Yes, you can kiss me,” a small smile filled Chongyun’s face, and Xingqiu thought he had fallen in love all over again. Chongyun was letting him kiss him.

Xingqiu approached Chongyun carefully, grabbing his chin gently and lifting his face up. A little whine of embarrassment left the other’s lips, which looked so enticing right about now. Xingqiu wanted to dive in and let them be one much more than anything. Chongyun’s gaze met Xingqiu's own one, and now here they were - inches apart. The slightest bit of movement would interlock them together, Xingqiu realised.

Xingqiu grinned sheepishly, despite how nervous he was feeling, “Is this going to be your first kiss?”

Chongyun didn’t answer, he just nodded his head because he knew his voice wouldn’t come out properly if he tried talking. He realised his hands were shaky as they held Xingqiu’s ones impossibly closer to his chest. Xingqiu slid them from underneath Chongyun’s hands, and placed them on top. Gently, Xingqiu squeezed Chongyun’s hands and rubbed the pads of his thumbs along the other’s soft skin, as if to reassure him.

“That’s alright,” Xingqiu’s breath ghosted over Chongyun’s lips, “it’ll be my first, too.”

these are some of my hcs for my au

chongyun is autistic and gay, and he's studying medicine, his family is very supportive of him but they're also a bit overprotective so they sometimes send his auntie to check up on him since they're in a different city. it took him a while to trust his roommate gaming but after he realized his sitution he just wants to care for him. ppl think he's shy but he's actually the least shy out of the three of the boys when it comes to love. he's only had one girlfriend which made him realize that he's gay.

gaming is bi, and he's an art major but he dreams of being a dancer and he has a group of dancer friends, he's always been a bit of a rebel so after his mother's death he left his hometown to study in a different city. he has like a ton of part time jobs to keep up with his rent and also his too much spending habit. he also has a lot of piercings on his body + tattoos. he's had a lot of partners but they never lasted long. even so, he gets flustered very easily with romance.

xingqiu is pansexual. he's chongyun's childhood friend and has liked him since forever. he's studying business but because of his looks he also does modeling and acting since he was a child. his father wants him to take over the business one day but he doesn't really want to, he's content with just helping out with work. he's a bit skeptical about gaming at first but then gets used to him slowly. xingqiu's also had a few partners but they were mostly an attempt for him to get over chongyun, though they never worked out so he stopped trying.

I found this dialogue and it made me think of a XingYun scenario. Xingqiu asks Chongyun to help him test the new fabric that the Guild made. He wears the new outfit and asks Chongyun if he can smell the silk flowers woven into his clothes. He's partially teasing him with the expectation that Chongyun will become shy and flustered being close enough to smell the flowers. However, Chongyun never hesitates to help Xingqiu. Chongyun holds him close and leans down enough for him to bury his face in Xingqiu's neck.

Xingqiu can feel his breath against his neck and his heart quicken. The slightest change catches Chongyun's attention. He takes the hem of his shirt collar between his fingers and tests the fabric's texture. "Your neck is red. Does the fabric feel uncomfortable on your skin. The Feiyun Commerce Guild sells top quality silk and this new fragrance dye is making the fabric rough." Xingqiu didn't respond to him immediately because he's so flustered. He doesn't know how Chongyun ended up turning the tables on him without even intending to xD

"Sorry, it's just if I don't make it to this event in time they're not going to let me enter. I didn't realize how late it was." You gulp down your water, catching Chongyun's concerned eyes in your peripheral vision.

"Yes but if you don't eat a bit slower you're not going to be able to enter for other reasons." Xingqiu chuckles, reaching out to grab your glass before it can fall off the table and shatter.

You take one more bite, wiping the side of your mouth and sighing. "I'm so sorry I can't stay longer. Really I love hanging out with you guys so much but now I have to run." You quickly side hug Xingqiu and Xiangling, pressing a quick kiss to Chongyun's cheek as you trot back over to grab your bag.

"We're rooting for your victory!" Xingqiu chimes up

"Yes, do your best!" Xiangling bounces with two thumbs up.

"I'll be over later to see how it went. I know you'll do great. Love you."

The entire room falls silent all at once and you cartoonishly whip your entire body around. Mouth wide as you stare at your boyfriend. Xiangling being the first to break the silence as Chongyun stood statuesque.

"Wait was that!" She gasps loudly, scaring Gouba on the floor beside her.

"The first, I love you?" Xingqiu finishes

Chongyun slowly sank back into his seat, searching frantically for literally any words as Xingqiu and Xiangling, ooooo'd beside him. "Popsicle, I need my-"

You'd turned in your stride, lowering yourself to his level with one arm draped around his shoulder. "I love you, Yun Yun." With another quick kiss to his cheek.

As you leave the awwwwing only amplifies. It's fine whatever else happens you know you'll hear all of it from Xiangling.

You've kind of watched him ease into a relationship with you. Slowly but surely your kisses get a little longer. He's less stiff when he hugs you. He even manages to look you in the eyes when he brings you baskets of fruit, or doodles he made of places around Mondstadt, the occasional flowers he picked coming from a less shaky hand.

And after some time you'd found your relationship had lasted six and a half months. Unlike previous encounters of this type Mika held your cheek with one hand, his book in the other as you gave him a good bye kiss outside the city gates.

"Just be careful, alright?" Your forehead bumps against his pushing his head up because you know he'll break eye contact. His cheeks already blooming that all too familiar pink.

"You don't have to worry too much. I'll come back much quicker this time and we'll be back together in no time."

Your smile is warm, leaning in a bit closer to press a kiss to the tip of his nose. Giggling a bit when his blush deepens. "You promised so.. hurry back." Now you step away, just a small arms length to properly see him.

He rubs the back of his head with a shy hand. "I'll see you later. I love you."

He stops abruptly in his stride. Face flushing with color so deep you can see it shooting down his neck. You also stop in your turn and when you look at him with wide eyes he jolts his head away from your sight.

You can see it in the way he raises his heel that he's gonna dash off, you quickly latch onto his wrist tugging him back with a laugh.

"I love you too, Mika."

You're not quite sure how long you stand there just rocking him and yourself back and forth but you're pretty sure he's behind schedule now.

You couldn't help but smile as you watched Shenhe snack on a bushel of Violetgrass flowers. She didn't even grimace. But maybe at this point in your relationship it shouldn't surprise you. Though technically it didn't, you just watched on with soft lingering glances.

"What's wrong?" Shenhe asks as she makes eye contact with you.

"You were staring quite a bit. Did you want some of my flowers?"

"It was an admiration stare." You reply with a smile. She merely hums returning to her meal. Though it doesn't take long for her to chime up again,

You blink upwards towards the sky, watching the clouds slowly roll along above the two of you. The clear blue setting your mind at ease. "Not really, you're just beautiful. I feel lucky is all."

Her gulp is loud and when you peek over at her you can see her hand placed on her chest. The flowers in her lap discarded as she slowly wraps the last of the contents up and places them beside her. You blink a bit confused but you don't get the chance to speak as she shifts atop the rock she's sat on to face you.

"I'm not sure even now after being by your side like I have that I completely understand romantic feelings or even romantic relationships as a whole. Though I find myself drawn in to your presence. I find that I enjoy your eyes on me and training by your side.. I know for sure that I've never had such deep emotions for anyone else I've ever met but I'm sure my feelings for you are true every time I'm with you."

You don't reply not quite sure how to. In fact you can't remember the last time Shenhe had ever said so much to you at one time.

First of all, a quick warning, my idea was to make this nsfw, but since it's impossible for me to think of some characters in that kind of situations, I've tried to make it as neutral and non-specific as possible so that everyone can adapt their ideas and imagination. how does baizhu care for his junior herbalist when they're sick and out of commission?

baizhu is most often the first to know when they're sick or otherwise unwell. he's so impossibly attentive to their bodily condition, simply because their health is partially his responsibility. he's their teacher. what kind of mentor would neglect to take care of their apprentice? a bad one, that's what kind.

(he also feels somewhat indebted to them—even though they're chronically ill, they're always doing anything they can to help him recover after his "secret art" treatments. even though he's the doctor, they've helped care for him on more than one occasion. he has to return the favor whenever he can. just because he's older doesn't mean he gets to freely take advantage of their kindness.)

if he's not the first to know, he's the second, because the only instance where he wouldn't know first is if they woke up ill at home.

he'll always end up being the second to know, at the very least. someone will inform him of their condition, whether that be a parent or a sibling or another family member. sometimes a friend of theirs may tell him, such as xingqiu, chongyun, hu tao, or xiangling.

in hu tao's case... she may be distrustful of him, but she does tell him when they aren't well. [name] is a childhood friend of hers. she cares about their health and, surprisingly, doesn't want to put them in the ground just yet!

even though she dreads the path they've chosen to walk down... she still cares for them, very much so.

he often wants to care for them himself.

gui has asked why in the past, and baizhu really has never had a good answer for him.

he's really not sure why he wants to be the one to monitor them. perhaps it's because it gives him a sense of calmness and reassures him that they're recovering well.

after all, if their condition were to rapidly decline for any reason... he could fix it.

(to some others, his concern might seem overprotective. unnecessary. however, something as simple as the flu has been known to take lives. he worries that, because of their chronic illness, they may be more susceptible to a severe case than others are.)

he has the means to save them if something like that were to happen, and undoubtedly, the life of his sweet and kind apprentice is one that deserves to be saved and protected.

perhaps it's also because it seems to put qiqi at ease; baizhu's noticed that she gets fidgety in [name]'s absence during work hours, but when they're ill and being cared for at the pharmacy, she functions very well and often even remembers to check on them herself.

sometimes when they have a fever, qiqi may sit by their side for minutes at a time and just press her little cold hands on their forehead to cool them off. she also ensures that they stay hydrated.

both baizhu and gui find this behavior very endearing. qiqi cares deeply for her big sibling (despite the fact that she's technically older...). her bond with them is something very special and sweet to bear witness to.

bubu pharmacy's work environment is familial and tightly knit by nature, so it isn't too hard to imagine that something would feel wrong if one of the four herbalists were gone for whatever reason. even those who don't work there are affected by the absence of one or more of the pharmacists.

overall, baizhu takes very good care of them when they fall ill.

he monitors them closely, hand-crafts their medicine depending on what they need, makes sure that their fluid intake is maintained...

he dotes on them tbh.

"Ugh..." they groaned, blearily blinking up at their mentor. Baizhu's hand against the feverish skin of their forehead was cold; they couldn't help but lean into the gentle touch. "Bàba?"

He didn't point it out. He hardly even acknowledged their words, as if he were somehow used to it. He only smiled, hand stroking tenderly over their disheveled hair, taming the defiant strands no doubt caused by restless sleep. "So sorry to wake you, dear."

Even Changsheng was quiet—she only hummed thoughtfully from her place around Baizhu's neck. Normally, she'd find something to tease them about (usually because they started it!), but now... she seemed to know that it just wasn't right to tease them in their hazy state of mind.

Gui was quiet, too. He was surprised. He had never heard them address their mentor such an... informal way, let alone with familial terms. He did once briefly think that the dynamic they had with Baizhu was awfully family-like, but...

It was still unexpected.

"Come, now. It's time to take your medicine again, and then you can go back to sleep, okay?"

Gui watched, still silent, as they hummed in absentminded acknowledgement, rubbing their eyes ever so slightly. It didn't seem to help them come to at all; their gaze was still distant and unfocused and they didn't even realize how they addressed the doctor. If they did... they'd probably apologize, embarrassed, but they showed no such emotion. Baizhu gently guided them into a sitting position, rubbing small circles on their back.

Gui handed the cup filled about halfway with herbal medication off to the doctor. Baizhu gingerly guided it to their lips, knowing very well that the guidance was needed; they looked half-asleep sitting up. Archons know they were in no condition to successfully do it themselves. They took the medicine without so much as a whine about its bitterness—they only grimaced slightly after swallowing. Gui supposed that they never really were one to complain about it, even when fully coherent. 'I think it would set a bad example for others if I complained,' they once told him. 'Plus, it's not like Dr. Baizhu gets some kind of sadistic pleasure from giving medication to me, so there's no reason to complain. It's herbal. There's nothing to be done about the taste... I know he doesn't like taking it either. Hehe. It's kind of funny, actually, like we're hiding some kind of company secret. Herbalists who don't like the taste of herbal medicine.'

It was only after he left the room with the doctor that he pointed it out:

"They called you bàba."

"Hm?" Baizhu hummed, turning to Gui. "Oh. Yes... [Name] has done it quite a few times, actually, whether that be because of fever delirium or a slip of the tongue. I don't mind it. It only means that they feel safe enough to be vulnerable here. Qiqi has done it a few times, as well. Those two are only children, so... it is to be expected."

Gui then smiled, nodding. "It's cute."

Baizhu couldn't help but agree, his lips tilting upwards into a little smile himself. "It is."
