500 followers challenge!!
Tumblr media
I’ve recently reached 500 followers, and I’m shocked and excited!  So much so that I’ve decided to host a challenge.  I love reading fan fics and thought this would be an amazing way to interact with others!!
Rules - There are no rules!  Not really anyway....I don’t want to squeeze your creativity into a box and make you uncomfortable.
So here’s what the challenge is, pick a title from the list below and write it about your favorite character or real person.  Let me know what your title is!  (Want to limit the number of fics for each title to 2)
I started with Avengers and Supernatural when I started my blog, but have found some great Bridgerton, Stranger Things and more fandoms that have some incredible stories here, so choose the fandom you love the most (or one you want to write about more)
You can decide the genre, but please label your story if it’s angst, smut, fluff etc.
Feel free to incorporate this challenge with another one!  My goal is to interact more and read more from other talented authors I may not have read before
Tag your fic with #supravenghit500 and @supraveng
Deadline to post in order to include you on the supravenghit500 masterlist is September 1st
TITLES for your fic - I have added the blogs to their chosen titles
1.Clue of the Cold Creek

Please, PLEASE do write the Baahubali fics! I love you, I love your fics and I love the Baahubali fandom! I badly miss some of the older folks like BB, Sharme, Kaadhu, Liya, Prajna, Shubhra (did Liya and Shubhra delete their account or something??????) I wonder if you are in touch with them, but if yes, do convey my hugs to them all! I
Trust me, I do plan to return to my Baahubali fics. As soon as I have the time for it and can get the RRR horses to stop running at top speed 😅. The fandom is sort of inactive right now. But I know some people are around and kinda-sorta into it even now @bleedinknight @vidhurvrika @avani008 @ambidextrousarcher @fierarain @glyphenthusiast @dr-woodsprite @allegoriesinmediasres @amarsenadiehardfan @ratnas-musings @heyifinallyhaveablog @queenofmahishmati @puppyloveblog24 @chaanv @tuulikki @parlegee @worddiva179
Folks, this anon sends you their hugs! And tbh, you have mine too! Please tag anyone I may have forgotten:)

For @butchcaroldanvers! Thanks for reccing this doozy of a song. Man, I had practiced so hard and yet it came out...not perfect. I’m sorry about that, buddy.
This song was basically one extended breathing exercise, but I had a lot of fun! I also dedicate this cover to @mayavanavihariniharini for her incomparable advice, which I did try to follow, not sure if I succeeded or not. (Remember the Sasuraal thing forever, Shubhra didi, okay?)
Tagging @carminavulcana, @allegoriesinmediasres, @medhasree, @shaonharryandpannisim, @jigyask, @iamnotthat, @chaanv, @avani008, @ratnas-musings and @heyifinallyhaveablog!

@mayavanavihariniharini had tagged me for the last line game. Thank you Shubhra Di !!!!!
Love him back. ➡️ This is the last line from my current WIP, as in, the last line I have written, but the actual, closing line of this one shot will be this ➡️ Dhrubajyoti Lahiri was no escapist, but every rule had an exception. Enjoy the randomness.

Agomoni: Part One of Two of Devipaksha.
And we bring her home,
In all her glory,
As a Mother, watching over her own,
As a Daughter, being adored by her own.
---
The Devipaksha marks the advent of Durgapuja, wherein, we commemorate the arrival of The Goddess at Her Maternal Home. The day of Mahalaya marks the official beginning of the festival when the Goddess arrives. :
Also tagging:
@mayavanavihariniharini, @walburgablack, @carminavulcana and @ruminationsofaraven for incessantly tolerating me! And Shubhra gave me the prompt!

Bijoya Dashami and A Tradition I Love
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shubho Bijoya Dashami to one and all. Gurujonera pronaam niyo. Chhotoder (who are perhaps non-existent on Tumblr) onek ador janalam.
Tagging the Bangalis I know - @heyifinallyhaveablog @walburgablack @mayavanavihariniharini
Writing this, the name of the Mother Goddess 108 times, is something of a family tradition. All members in their "Brahmacharya" (student life) do it, even though I have resolved to do this to the end of my days, until I can no longer grip a pen. This is cathartic to me, and I consider a New Year starting from the day of Mahalaya. Poila Boishakh or the English New Year, somehow, does nothing for me. Mahalaya does. And this is my brand of therapy.
Perhaps you ladies could share some of special things or traditions or rituals you do during the puja, or on Dashami, Rhea Di, Arpi Di and Shubhra Di?
Goddess, this is such a poignant matter for me that I can't even crack a joke about the horrid handwriting. *chuckles*
Shubho Bijoya everyone, Bengalis and non-Bengalis alike. The Mother Goddess blesses all.

Trending: Anurag Kashyap’s Instagram Pics With Girlfriend
New Delhi: Anurag Kashyap‘s pictures with girlfriend Shubhra Shetty (name mentioned on her Instagram profile, which was tagged by the filmmaker), is one of the trending topics on the Internet on Wednesday. Pictures of the 44-year-old filmmaker embracing Shubhra swiftly went viral. “Love,” Anurag Kashyap captioned one of his posts, adding a heart emoticon. In another picture, the couple are…

Tagged by @mayavanavihariniharini. Thanks, Shubhra di!
Rules: Post the first line of one of your WIPS and tag as many people as there are words
First line: Penance seeking Indra’s boon is tough indeed, but then, what we seek is worth a few months of trials.
This is the first line of Antraatman, the WIP I’m highly invested in.
Tagging @ramzesfics, @chaanv, @ambitiousandcunning, @rippys-chai, @theirrepressiblewriter, @disha-chowdhury, @walburgablack, @queenofmahishmati, @finnreyskywalker, @fandom-is-my-middle-name, @worddiva179, @demonkidpliz, @avani008, @starlightasteria, @carminavulcana, @selkiesstories @glyphenthusiast, @parlegee, @pratigyakrishnaki.
Whoa, seems I wrote a very long first line!
Tell me if any of you thinks this beginning is nice, or has any ideas to change it, yeah? I really like talking about this WIP!

Green?
Wow.
Well, I am all in for creative liberty, but I enjoy seeing artworks where the dark skin is kept intact.
And Shubhra Di, you are welcome to chime in anytime, even if I don't exclusively tag you. As long as you are here, please give your input :)
You know it really pisses me off that Krishn, Ram, Vishnu, and Shiv (and probably others) are showed having blue skin like. Why? Why would a god or a deity or a reincarnated version of God have blue skin? They are Dark Skinned. Not Blue. It seriously annoys me that people substitute blue skin for dark skin because apparently gods don't look good with dark skin???? Because they don't match your aesthetic??? They're GODS. Literal Gods. Krishn was said to be as dark as a rain filled cloud. Their literal name means Dark. And you showed them having blue skin. Honestly.

If You Like Baahubali, You Will Also Like These Indian Literary Works.
1. Valmiki Ramayana
This goes without saying, of course. Many before me have said it already (looking at Shubhra Di and others), and I am not adding anything new. What I can say, however, is that Baahubali is something of a fix-it universe for Ramayana, not in the sense of the plot (where Amarendra dies – damn it), but in the sense of the characterisation, not only of Amarendra/Rama, but many other characters. That being said, considering Baahubali as a fix-it for Ramayana may have a few unsettling (and ignorant) connotations too. Ones not as familiar with both the works as most people in the Baahubali fandom are, might see Baahu’s act of standing with his wife as leading to his downfall. This is not me blindly conjecturing; an acquaintance (not part of the ‘organised’ fandom) made this speculation, and I couldn’t talk them out of it even after a 20-minute (mostly one-sided, namely mine) debate.
To sum it up, it would be interesting for fans not yet familiar with Ramayana (which is quite unlikely) to go through it, if only for the sake of eyes-go-round moments where you notice the parallels and can’t help but compare between Rama and Amarendra (the fix-it characterisation that jumps out the most).
2. Adbhuta Ramayana
I know, I know – but with the many versions floating around, I find it imperative to give credit and proper mention to each. Nothing is canon in my head, so this becomes even more important. Don’t read the entirety of it – just try to catch lines of where Sita laughs seeing Rama helpless on the battlefield and fights Sahastra Ravana himself and imagine Devasena in Sita’s place, Bhallaladeva in Ravana’s and...wait for it, Mahendra in Rama’s place.
Seriously, whenever Mahendra was being beaten up by Bhalla, half of me was cheering for a crack AU where nice! Bhalla gives his errant, long-lost nephew a proper lesson on how to court women---‘Seriously, boy, you have my damned genes, work that charm to some use!’---in the absence of his soft-hearted father, while the other half of me wished Devasena would just snatch up a bow and an arrow from somewhere, pin Bhallaladeva to the pyre in Arjuna-style, and light him up... blast the damned Agni-prasthana.) *pants*
Thanks for coming to my TED talk. :D
3. Vyasa’s Mahabharata
Do I have to say this? But oh, well, I said Indian literary works, so what is better than Mahabharata? As @mayavanavihariniharini aptly pointed out, we Bengalis grow up with the ‘Ja nei Bharate, ta nei Bharate’ proverb, translating to ‘That which isn’t in Bharata (Mahabharata), isn’t in Bharata (India)’. Any work – film, book, music, whatsoever – with India-centric themes will always, always, find Mahabharata to be its mother. And while (in my head) Baahubali is something of a Ramayana fix-it, it owes its spice, flavour, aroma and character (somewhat) archetypes to Mahabharata. I cannot say more; everything will pale in comparison to reading the actual text – to those who haven’t yet (again unlikely). (Also, there is the teeny-tiny fact that this has been said before.)
4. Silapaddikaram
Repeating Shubhra Di’s rec, because this needs to be repeated. Want more of all that southern charisma and magnificence? Go for it! Ethics and doctrine are central to this story, as they are to Ramayana, Mahabharata and Baahubali itself, and you’ll find yourself in deep contemplation at times. Very thought-evoking on concepts such as relationships and governments like the monarchy.
I would suggest Manimekalai for the lovers of sequels, but Silapaddikaram is more suited to my tastes and perception and is more relevant in the present context. Kannagi resonates strongly with Devasena, and oh, this is to fantastic, grievous courtroom scenes.
5. Rajatarangini
I don’t know why exactly this came to my head. But there’s a lot of lineage game going on, and monarchy things, so...
It can be monotonous, but Kalhana (the alleged writer) stresses on the exploits of a certain king Lalitaditya, who, I think, resonates a lot with the princely side of Amarendra Baahubali. There is that charismatic privilege, the gait of a king who is meant to be, the surrounding miracles... Hm. *shrugs* You may like it if you are into the fantastical side of Baahubali.
6. Devi Mahatmyam
This list cannot be complete without the mention of this. While Devi Mahatmyam is more popular in Eastern India, especially Bengal, it is a major part of the all-India Shakti culture, and one of the first expressions of organised worship of the Female Supreme. Given Baahubali’s feminist undertones, and how most of us love it solely for Devasena and Sivagami, both of whom resonate as warrior goddesses, you will enjoy a read-through. I would suggest taking the over-reverent prayers (the least interesting parts, according to yours truly) with a pinch of salt – I personally imagine laughing at the eulogies with the Goddess to wave off the humdrum of it. Just imagine Devasena and her entirely unimpressed looks at the disguised Kattappa. *chokes*

Thanks for the tag Shubhra @mayavanavihariniharini. This sounds very interesting indeed! It's been a while since I participated in anything related to Baahubali fandom, I must say that I'm now looking forward to this :D
I'm more than okay with my name being in all the jars please 😊😊
Welcome to the Tribe of Mahishmati’s Greatest Storytellers
“There’s a reason a happy ending is called an ending. The trick of a television storyteller is to find all the rivers and mountains and valleys on the way to that ending.”– Julia Plec
Folks and fellow tribespeople, we are the timeless bards of Mahishmati. Maybe you’re a commoner that worked beside Amarendra Baahubali during his exile. Maybe you’re a soldier that fought alongside Bhallaladeva. Maybe you are Devasena’s lady-in-waiting. Maybe you are one of Sivagami’s personal guards. Maybe you are none of them.
In all likelihood, you’re someone like us, @carminavulcana and @avani008 – women from the year 2018 who only know of the these people that lived (or maybe didn’t) almost a thousand years ago. But we tell their stories based on the narration of S.S. Rajamouli, another storyteller albeit at a different level altogether.
Okay, enough with the drama and the lameness!
Without much further ado, I present to you the first ever author and fic archive in the Baahubali Fandom.
And this is going to work in two parts.
1. Author of the Month
2. Fic of the Week
Author of the Month
Since we are a small fandom and hoping to welcome more people into it, this is a way to know each other better and build a stronger community. Most of us are also trying to improve as writers and/or looking to make new friends. Every month, we want to feature one of you in this archive. I or Avani will interview you over chat or send you a list of questions to answer. The interview will then be published along with what you consider to be your top three fics. You will pick one of these and we will put the top comment your received on it alongside your story.
Fic of the Week
This is going to be organized slightly differently. There is no end to possibilities in a fandom. Plus, since a lot of the writing in our fandom is of rather good quality, we should absolutely do more with it.
1. Every week, a fic will be selected to feature on the archive. Then, two people from the fandom will be asked to read the story and deconstruct it however they like. Basically, their analysis would encourage the author and also help them improve as a writer. Of course, there will be an open discussion thread under the post which will remain open the entire week for you to add to the analysis, reviews, and opinions about the story and/or the deconstructions.
The fics will also be chosen randomly but no author’s fics will be chosen back-to-back. Similarly, the authors for the ‘Author of the week’ and the reviewers for the deconstruction of the ‘fic of the week’ will also be chosen randomly.
We will do this the old fashioned way by drawing lots. I will have three little jars with small chits of paper in it. Jar A will contain the names of the authors. Jar B will contain the names of the fics. And Jar C will contain names of the reviewers.
When you comment below, let us know if you’re okay with us putting you and your stories in all the jars. If you’d like us to keep you out of one of the Jars, please specify which one.
Don’t hesitate to ask any questions. The ask box is always open.
Happy Writing. Jai Mahishmati!!!
