here is my attempt at unf*cking the Shrek 5 gang (partly)

most of em took me 2 minutes. pinocchio took me 30 seconds (i just unsquished his face) it's NOT THAT HARD.

i tried it with donkey but he's beyond saving lol + we don't know what felicia(?) wouldve looked like so i'm keeping her as she is.

People sarcastically going "oh you're unhappy that Shrek refrenced pop culture" in respons to criticism of the shrek 5 teaser has made me realise that there are a lot of refrences in the shrek series that I simply didn't get when I was younger, but despite that I was still able to tell what scenes in the movies were trying to convey.

I did not, and still do not know every fairytale in existance, but I could still tell that there was a divide between the fantasy characters, whose lives were far less simple or wimsical than a fairytale story would normally suggest, and the humans who are actively trying to oppress them.

Until I saw a screenshot of it today, I did not know that the gag with Puss escaping Shreks shirt was a refrence to the scene in alien (at least I assume it is that movie, I don't think I've actually seen alien and I was certainly too young to see it when I first saw Shrek 2) but I could tell based on how Puss was able to do it, at that point in the fight, Puss was winning and was hurting Shrek significantly.

No, I did not know that the knights arresting Shrek was framed to parody Cops, a show from a country I'm not from, but I could tell based on the style of showmanship the magic mirror and the presenters at the ball engage in, that this was some sort of TV show that was trying to present the violent law enforcement as something to be enjoyed and entertained by.

The shrek 5 teaser doesn't work unless you already know and are interested in the type of meme humor on display. If you don't know about it, but find it confusing, wierd or offputting, yes your reaction mirrors the characters, but it probably wouldn't interest you in the movie. If know about it but don't like it because you feel this specific style of meme to you is unfunny, oversaturated, illogical, outdated, meaningless, or any other reason, then the teaser is drawing your focus to a part of online culture you might just prefer to avoid altogether.

The first 2 things I thought after seeing the teaser were "I wonder if the area below Shreks nose looks different due to a redesign or if it's just the lighting in this context", and "is that style of meme still popular on tiktok?" Neither of which make me want to watch the movie when it comes out. Maybe I'd understand it more if I knew who Zendaya was.

I don't necessarily hate Shrek's new art style, but it still seems a bit off-putting to me (this must mean I've watched Shrek way too much) it looks like if Illumination tried to animate it

In my opinion, one of the funniest and best reactions to the Shrek 5 teaser was the theory that the teenage daughter, voiced by Zendaya, is actually one of Shrek's baby sons, who must have transitioned, because she is shown with brown eyes, even though Shrek and Fiona's daughter had blue eyes (in contrast with her brothers' brown eyes).

I love it for two reasons.

The first is that I miss the times when the internet's discussions about upcoming movies were all like this. Just people speculating and making the most random and absurd theories ever.

The second is just the sheer energy of this theory. It's like they're saying "look, there's no way that none of the animators, designers, writers producers or all the people who work at DREAMWORKS wouldn't do something as simple as check what color are Shrek's daughter's eyes", which I agree.

So, yeah, thank you for giving me a little glimpse of what was it like to discuss about movies online, back in the day. Hope we can do this more often.

Get outta my swamp! The first trailer for the brand new Shrek 5 movie has just been released.

The clip was shared by the movie studio Universal Pictures, and shows the green ogre and his family and friends gathered around the magic mirror to look up funny videos of Shrek.

It's been a while since the first Shrek movie came out in 2001, 24 years ago! - with the fourth and most recent one, Shrek Forever After released in 2010.

However, fans will have to wait a little while longer before the new movie is released, as the trailer revealed that Shrek 5 would be out around Christmas-time 2026.

It has been confirmed that Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers), Princess Fiona (voiced by Cameron Diaz) and Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy) are all returning for the new movie.

Also shown in the trailer are the characters Pinocchio and Magic Mirror.

The clip also reveals Fiona and Shrek's teenage daughter, who will be voiced by famous actress Zendaya, who you might recognise from the new Spider-Man movies.

Her name has not been confirmed yet, but she could be Felicia - one of Fiona and Shrek's triplets, who we saw as babies in the fourth movie.

Which means we are yet to meet her brothers Fergus and Farkle.

There is also no confirmation yet on whether Antonio Banderas will return as Puss in Boots.
