The Shrample get beds as a little treat.

The way their body is I don’t think they can lay down fully like earth animals are able to.

A bed is woven with strong reeds or a wood-like item. There is an open pocket at the bottom of the bed that is filled with rocks and sand. This helps to weigh the bed down so it doesn’t float away in water and helps keep it sturdy so it doesn’t tip when the Shrampy gets in. Soft kelp is placed in the bed for a cushion!

Cooking is done over heat vents. When large crustaceans die, they are scavenged and the claws are used for cooking. They are dug into the ground and glue is used to cement them into the holes. Spices are hung on either end of the vent and a large bowl with the food is placed in the middle over the vent.

Cooked food isn’t totally required, but I think cooking it and seasoning it would make it tastier. Maybe they are cooked to keep it good for longer like humans do.

hey fish people do any of you have any recommendations for a good grow light for aquariums?

ive been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why plants wont survive in my tank since i moved last year and finally realized its bc the new place doesnt get any natural sunlight. ive tried two different (cheapish) grow lights for aquariums but neither of them made any difference.

plants used to grow like crazy in there and the shrimp had plenty of hiding spaces to breed, now im lucky if i see even one shrimp baby survive to adulthood

Well, well, well… how the otturn tables 🦐😒🦦 Shrimp Week may be over, but the content never pawses!

If you enjoyed all the shrimps, shramps, and shromps we shared last week, have you considered donating? 🥺👉👈 Not only does it help justify all the copepod chaos to our bosses, but it also benefits our conservation and education programs! Top 2 sketches show a creature kept as pets for their Pearl-like stones. The individual to the right is showing off a necklace that they made. The self portrait is carved out of coral. They used strands of silk to weave a sturdy string.

The mandible arms are used for detail work; painting, carving, and preparing food.

Below we see two Shrample displaying a very intimate behavior. It is seen as rude to touch a Shrampy’s mandible arms. It is only done with those very close to the individual. Partners will touch each other with these arms. As well as caretakers to nymphs. I haven’t really thought about Shrample relationships and genders. Hopefully I’ll figure it out later!
