After 13 days of being really sick and off the bike, I finally got to ride w/ my favorite person in a very beautiful warm place! It felt so good to start getting my legs and lungs working again. I'm really looking forward to warmer temps, longer daylight, planning some fun events for our cycling community w/ @brett.sev and putting in some solid training blocks in preparation for the race season now that I'm starting to feel better. ❤️🚴‍♀️

As race day was approaching for Dirty Kanza, I was really excited to recieve my new Voler Apparel custom race kit in time for the event! With temps in the 90's in Kansas, the soft, breathable material kept me cool and comfortable for 206 miles of gravel road. The design team at Voler Apparel were great to work with. They helped me lay out a design, pick out colors and patterns, and sizing. Before finalizing the design, they sent samples of the full size kit so I could see how the colors and patterns looked on the material - a really nice touch to the whole experience! Definitely great to be wearing their clothing! 🙂🚴

Pat's Peak NECS MTB Race

I decided to come out of hiding after the hard effort last weekend at Dirty Kanza and race mountain bikes today at @patspeakskiarea in New Hampshire. I've always really enjoyed this course, it promises a ton of climbing, a ton of techy rocky sections and screaming descents...I loved every minute of it! The course was fantastic and the @ridecannondale Scalpel felt amazing through the terrain. Definitely still a tired upper body from Kanza, happy to take top step, and now looking forward to getting back after it on the mountain bike in the coming weeks. 🙂❤️🚴

Vermont 50

Crispy fall air, a beautiful sunsrise and tons of stoked people riding bikes made for a great day at the Vermont 50, taking on 50 miles of slippery singletrack and gravel roads with 8300 ft elevation gain over the course of 5+ hours. It was a bit of an off day for me (comical looking back at it 🤪) - my light flipped upside down on my bars during the first descent so I had to try to hold it in position with one hand on the bars for the first scary dark 40 minutes until the sun started coming up and lost the lead group. This was quickly followed by 5 more mechanicals (no flats thankfully!), a crash and some more bad luck after crossing the finish line seeing I had been issued a time penalty for starting with the wrong group. Not exactly how I had hoped to end the season, but it allowed me to relax a bit, make new friends on the trail, cheer others on and enjoy the day just being on the bike in the woods. 🙂🚴 🍁

Big shout out to @Jake (guess I did my own David Bowie loop this time!), @Bill, @Kathleen, @joseph and many others for the encouragement on course as I struggled with my mishaps - you all made me smile! The spectators, racers and volunteers we're awesome! What really amazed me was watching the runners come through the finish line. They we're competing in the 50 mile & 50k - so inspiring, I can't imagine running that distance! ❤️

What's next? Time to have some fun relaxing rides, go surfing, catch up with friends and family, reflect on the 2018 race season, and prepare for 2019 🙂

Redemption Gravel Race, Sept 1 2018

Rasputitsa Redemption Gravel Race 100 was awesome! Put this on your bucket list for 2019, it will not disappoint! Such great people, vibes and a beautiful views in every direction 🏞️ After 100 miles, nearly 10,000 ft of elevation gain and around 6 hours, I'm happy to take the overall women's win!

Big thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to make this day unforgettable 🙂 After all that climbing yesterday, I'm just going to point the bike downhill today and shred some shuttle runs at Burke Mtn 🚴

Voler Apparel

I had a really great experience recently working with @Voler Apparel on my new race kit for the upcoming season. Last season I was really happy with the quality, style and durability of their clothing and I'm really excited to be partnering with them for the 2018 season! For the past couple weeks I've worked closely with their art director fine tuning designs and colors. It was a really pleasant experience - they provided continuous communication daily with different options I could choose from, gave honest opinions, had good advice, a great eye for design and layout, were very friendly and very professional.
