Outlander Fanfic Idea

I have an idea for a fic about an old woman named Steph, who, after attending her mother's funeral, and ensuring her kids and grandkids are entertained by her late wife's videogame collection, finds the Virginia stone circle, and gets transported back to the 1830s or so, and interacts with Liam Ransom, the grandson of William Clarence Henry George Ransom, the Ninth early of Ellesmere.

By the time my story would take place, all secrets are to some degree in the open. William has figured out that Lord John is gay, and has heard about the time travel story from MacKenzie and Fraser family.

Unlike the original Outlander story, this would be an exploration of grief, not love.

The plot of this fic revolves around Steph's journey to say her final farewell to her late wife, Meg. The death of Steph's mother is the catalyst that forces Steph to decide if life is even worth living.

The only character that Steph meets along her journey that also shows up in the main series is Swiftest Of Lizards, Young Ian's child, because as of Season 7A Swiftest of Lizards has never met any of the main-cast time travelers.

Another interesting topic for this to explore is that of family folklore and storytelling. I think it would be fascinating to see how characters who would only have ever heard stories and rumors about the time travelers and of Lord John Grey's orientation interact with a new character who has both of the secrets.

Steve cobs actually has a name, Steve,

His name isn't corn cob, while the contestants are just called what they are,

What if in the actual real world that mephone4 has avoided objects actually have names, like in hfjONE, but sense mephone has only ever known cobs or just couldn't think of names, they just got called what they are?

Imagine being an ii contestant finally entering the real world, and everyone is very weirded out that you do the equivalent of introducing yourself as "human person" or "homosapien guy" instead of saying an actual name,

To a contestant it's a weird situation of realizing you're missing several key traits of being a person, like a name, a background, a childhood, as far as the government is concerned you don't even exist,

While to regular objects, these strange almost but not quite people are going around functioning on logic regular people just can't, flaming paintbrushes, psychic candles and spoons, healing from things like broken limbs in just a day cause any longer is inconvenient, (looking at you knife) falling from hights that should kill someone and being fine, summoning teacups from literally nowhere for comedic effect mid conversation, (looking at you taco) doing things a regular person can't, they don't have names, they don't have actual jobs, it's genuinly like cartoon characters come to life trying to function in a real setting,

still can’t believe that the will scene is a real thing that 911 did. like eddie diaz, known man who’s scared of relationships and letting people into his life actually did in fact tell evan buckley, known man who’s only wish ever was to be wanted and to belong and to find a place to call home, that he’s had a home and a role in eddie’s family since the second year they met. EDDIE DIAZ tells EVAN BUCKLEY that he’s not expendable. tells him exactly what he needs to hear. that his life IS worth it. that he DOES matter. looks into his eyes and tells him he wants him to stay in this world to take care of their son. and from that moment on, as an audience we see buck stop being so careless with his life. because hey, he has a family to go to home to. people who need him around. and you expect me to move on.

There totally shoulda been an episode of Merlin where Arthur and Merlin have to deal w a weird magic issue by themselves until Gaius is sent to help Arthur bc it seems like a health issue and finds Merlin and Arthur in what seems like a precarious position. Also leaving Gaius to give Merlin a, "it's fine to like men but be careful + sex talk" esque talk and also leaves Merlin just confused as to why Gaius even though him and Arthur make sense together. And near the end Gaius coming to Arthur to basically say, "hurt my son and i'll hurt you. But also don't feel bad about being gay it's fine."

Solar wears fingerless leather gloves due to the webbing between his fingers making it impossible for him, or any of the merr, to wear fingered gloves

Solar, like all characters that come from alternate dimentions in tsams, comes from a nearby shoal

Solar does not take good care of himself and will always put others first, leading to him tearing the delicate tissues around his neck and waist

Solar's star fragment flickers occasionally and feels rubbery, a sign of poor health. Due to this, Solar's heart rate is constantly monitored by the Celestial Waves Project through a device sewn into one of his gloves

He has an interest in fashion being one of the only mer who wear clothing outside of ribbons

As the Celestial Waves au mirrors the main dimention, Solar does die, just not for a while. After a long period of time, Eclipse agrees to share some of the Newton Star's energy with a revived version of him, leading to the two of them becoming very close

After his revival, Solar prefers isolation. He finds it hard to do much of anything and would much prefer to stay in his and Eclipse's cave while he heals

He is months away from being the person he once was between the memory loss and the whole newton star eating him from the inside out thing. He can hardly think straight half the time due to the pain
