The book, entitled Yuusha ni Naritai Shoujo <Boku> to, Yuusha ni Narubeki Kanojo <Kimi> (The Girl Who Wants to Be a Hero <me> and The Girl Who Should Be a Hero <You>), will be published in Japanese by Dengeki Bunko this November.
In her Tweet, Inori described Yuusha ni Naritai Shoujo to Yuusha ni Narubeki Kanojo as "a girls' love fantasy work with with the theme of 'I want to' and 'I should." It is illustrated by Akamoku.

Inori is known for creating I'm in Love with the Villainess. Originally posted on the webnovel site Shousetsuka ni Narou, the series was picked up by GL Bunko, which published five volumes between 2019 and 2021. The Yuri series is known for its heavy inclusion of LGBTQ+ themes and identity.
I'm in Love with the Villainess inspired a manga adaptation illustrated by Aonoshimo, which is currently serialized in Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime, a spin-off series, She's So Cheeky for a Commoner, and a television anime adaptation which is set to premiere on Tokyo MX on October 2 and stream internationally on Crunchyroll.

The Story of Joel Who Fell In Love With His Junior Knight
Tumblr media
This is a bonus short story written by Touko Amekawa with for 7th Time Loop Volume 6! It’s set on Rishe's 6th loop, when she was still a knight, and her senior, Joel, who fell in love with her during that life.
Disclaimer: This translation is made by me for fandom purposes only. This unofficial translation is not affiliated with the official 7th Time Loop franchise. All rights reserved for 7th Time Loop to its respective committees, committee members, staff, author and rights holders.
The bonus short story can be found in Touko Amekawa's 7th Time Loop Shousetsuka ni Narou blog!
I’m posting my Ko-Fi here as currently, I’ve been having financial troubles, so if anyone can donate, I would be much grateful for the help, thank you very much.
***
"Joel?"
That day, Joel, who went silent after realizing an outrageous truth, was called by Lucius, who was with him in the same room.
"......"
This was Joel's junior knight, who joined their order six months ago.
Joel, the youngest child of a family with an older brother and an older sister, had joined the knights' order earlier than was customary. For as long as he could remember, he was surrounded by people usually older than him, and this junior is the only 'junior who was close to him in age'.
"Lucius. You."
"?"
Sitting on the bed, Lucius' head tilted in confusion, that short coral hair swaying.
Lucius' round eyes were fringed by long eyelashes, those very eyes tinted emerald, akin to wet glass beads. Those were similar to the color of the eyes of the neighborhood cat Joel used to nap with.
"......"
Putting down everything he wanted to say at first, in the meantime, Joel continued to talk.
"It's fine if you're taking over cleaning the baths every day, but after this, you're not allowed to go there this late. Got it?"
"Huh?! Oh, I'm sorry! Since I was about to take a bath, too, and cleaning would take some time... am I too noisy every time I go back here?"
"Yeah. Right. That disturbs me while I'm sleeping, so go there when I'm awake."
"Yes! I'll pay attention from now on!"
Lucius nodded vigorously while Joel nodded back in assent.
"You can go there right now as all our seniors should have finished bathing already. Also, any individual sword practice shouldn't be done at night, but at mornings."
"Understood! Joel, let's do our best getting up early tomorrow, too!"
"Huh. Don't want that."
"Hehe."
As Joel clearly expressed his refusal, Lucius laughed amusedly for some reason. Just like that, while they were talking, Lucius briskly moved, getting a towel and a change of clothes.
"Well, then, I'll go take a bath and clean up!"
Leaving the room, Lucius' footsteps and presence slowly faded away.
Sitting on the chair next to their bunk beds with a thud, Joel pondered over understanding his current situation.
(―――That person is a girl, huh.)
He planned to erase from memory all the events leading to this conclusion.
Instead of sitting upright on the chair, Joel's body slid sideways, his head resting against the wall, his eyes now closed.
(Even though cleaning the baths was supposedly a rostered task. I now understand why Lucius kept saying incomprehensible things like, "It's part of my training!" and volunteering to do that alone every day...)
She would go to their training grounds and practice very early in the morning, and would prepare for missions faster than anyone else. However, that would be the best possible way to cover up her changing clothes in the dressing room.
"Ah―――..."
For the first time in his life, Joel let out what would call a "sigh". Up to that point in his life, such worries were previously irrelevant to him.
(...I don't really care whether she's a man or a woman...)
Even though he thought like that, the moment he realized Lucius was a girl, he broke into a cold sweat underneath his clothes.
His heart thundered greatly, beating louder than it usually did after battles.
(Damn you, Captain. You knew all along yet you placed her in the same room as me, you bastard.)
Before Lucius joined their knights' order, Joel stayed in that room alone.
Then enter the newcomer, the delicate-looking and small Lucius.
Six months have passed since then, and as his new junior never showed signs of building muscle nor growing taller, he felt he finally solved that mystery.
(Lucius said she was originally a noble, but she got exiled by her family due to various reasons. If that was the case, because she couldn't travel easily due to her being a young woman, she disguised herself as a young man? ...Even so, why become a knight? I don't get it.)
She's really a big enigma, he thought.
Joel's only junior is someone whose thoughts and behavior are completely unreadable.
("Lucius" is probably not her real name.)
He was sure she was known with a different name as a girl.
(It's odd things like this make my heart flutter. It doesn't matter whatever her name is.)
Unsure of what he was thinking, Joel continued sulking alone.
(She should call herself the name she wants to be called with. It's likely her alias is similar to her real name, too...)
While he was thinking of whimsical things like that, it seemed like some time has passed.
There was a knock on the door, and Joel's eyes widened.
"It's me, Lucius!"
"...What?"
He stood up to open the door and found Lucius standing there, out of breath, her hair so wet that it looked like water was still dripping from there.
"...Too fast. What's the matter? You usually take longer to...?"
"If I bath too late, you'll have less time to sleep, Joel..."
"......"
That "sleep disturbance" he told Lucius earlier wasn't actually a big deal at all.
The building where Joel and the other lower-ranked knights lived in was far from where the baths were located. Just when lights are put out, the area on the way gets pitch black with no people around.
(I know she is a girl, so I lied to her as I didn't want her walking in the dark after taking a bath. That's all.)
Lucius turned to Joel with a very serious look on her face, then said,
"I've finished cleaning the baths completely! From now on, I won't be too noisy, so please, sleep well, Joel!"
(She went in a rush for my sake...)
Joel thought for a moment, then prompted Lucius to enter the room.
"...I'll dry your hair occasionally, so come here, 'Lu'."
"Joel? 'Lu', you say... perhaps..."
The junior he had been calling "Lucius" up to now widened her eyes in shock.
"Your name. 'Lucius' is too long, and it's tricky to pronounce."
It was another lie.
However, Joel didn't let it show on on his face and continued.
"From now on, I'll call you Lu. That's your nickname."
"A nickname..."
"All right? I won't call you anything other than that."
As he can't call her by her real name, it's better to use the nickname Joel came up with.
(Because this girl is)
Joel then grabbed a towel and placed it on her wet, coral-haired head.
"...Because you're my one and only junior."
"...!"
At that moment, Lu's eyes sparkled with joy, just like the color of a treasure left under the sun.
"Yes! I'm very glad, Joel!"
"...Mm. Good kid."
In the days that followed, Joel's life got wrapped around Lou's finger.
After all, Lu was a person who would try anything. Not only did she put everything into her training, she also worked hard to help people in need even outside of her knight duties, and she even joined in drinking parties of the other units.
Every time she experienced something new, she smiled brightly and happily.
"Hey, Leo. Do you know where Lu is?"
"...If you're talking about Lucius, he's been summoned by some beautiful women earlier."
"Hmm."
It was probably because she was actually a girl, but she was more attentive and friendly to other women than anyone else, and her knightly conduct made her very popular. Nevertheless, this interaction with others never led to disputes, and their senior knights could only look at the situation with wonder.
"Joel, good morning, rise and shine!"
"...Today, I'll be training in my dreams. It's praiseworthy training, so it's all right..."
"I won't be able to participate if that's the case! As my senior, please guide me in training, and I'll dry your hair for you tonight!"
Joel was watching nearby this whole time.
"――The Crown Prince of Galkhein killed his father and usurped the throne."
"......"
When he told Lu about this fact, her face turned really sad.
Even though her hands clutched the hem of her clothes tightly, and those hands were covered with blisters from continuing to hold the sword, those hands still looked frail and dainty.
(...I hope this girl won't come to the battlefield.)
He thought to himself as he patted Lu's head, her eyes downcast.
(As I can't fully protect you...... No matter how everyone told me I'm worthless at everything except swordsmanship, I'm just a knight.)
Such selfish wishes kept appearing in his head.
Her short, coral hair was so silky smooth, it was hard to think of her using the same soap as Joel and the other knights.
(I need to protect this country, His Majesty, and the princes. A mere knight like me can't look back.)
Even though she knew of the future to come, she couldn't say anything.
As Joel was her fellow knight and her 'senior'.
(――Such is the life Lu and I chose.)
He had seen more than anyone else how much effort she put in to be a knight.
"...Become even stronger, Lu."
"Joel..."
"Hey."
Joel crouched down in front of Lu, rested his chin on his lap, and smiled.
"...I'll help you train every day, then. I'm your senior, after all."
"...!"
As he was her senior, he couldn't tell her he didn't want her to die.
But as he was precisely her senior, Joel could give Lu hope in the way he only could.
"...Thank you, Joel!"
(...Truly, I fell in love with such a troublesome girl...)
As Lu smiled, her eyes held the same sunny emerald color.

An anthology featuring a variety of stories with girl × girl relationships, with a focus on Heroine × Villainess! Heroines and villainesses, maids and villainesses… 5 stories featuring relationships between girls and their bonds can be found in this anthology. A collection of stories that were published on Shousetsuka ni Narou! All have happy endings!
happy femslash february, this is actually a *2* volume anthology series for villainess yuri—in this case, the villainess characters range from misunderstood to extremely annoying (affectionate). since it’s all oneshots, they’re fairly short and self-contained.
in all honestly, I think the publisher/editor could’ve been more attentive to the order of the chapters for the first volume—the first three chapters open with The Condemnation Event, which… makes it harder for those chapters to stand out imo. still, it’s a fun anthology that delivers on What If Villainess Narratives Were Gay For Real.
so far, my favorite oneshots are volume 2 chapters 1 and 4

...I can't believe I'm logging back in again for the first time in like half a decade for this, but apparently I have Opinions on the subject.
I simultaneously emphatically agree and vehemently disagree with this post.
I hate isekai anime. Almost all of it is indeed trash. But I want to love it, because I love the isekai genre.
Allow me to explain.
Basically every single isekai anime out there* started out on free, user-submitted novel sites such as shousetsuka ni narou, kakuyomu or alphapolis**. Think of these sites as more commercial versions (they run on ads, are publisher owned, and/or have other revenue streams) of ao3, but for original fiction.
Normal people*** write whatever the fuck stories they want for people to read for free, and people can bookmark and follow, rate, comment and on some sites write reviews for the story. And if you get popular enough (or you enter your story in one of the periodical themed competitions and get enough votes), you might get a book deal with an actual publisher.
And isekai is one of the biggest genres - if not the biggest genre - on these sites. Hell, isekai was basically born here.
Can you imagine the sort of amazingly wild stories this results in?? isekai is like if someone took a look at Western fantasy and went "...but why is it so serious and shit, though?", and just poured a truckload of crack, fluff and pastel colours all over it. And yes, in a lot of cases also fanservice and/or fucked-up misogynistic shit. Because it's Japan, and the internet, what'd you expect?
But it's easy, feel-good fiction for the tired masses.
You ever see ads for that fish game where you start as a small fish and eat other fish to grow bigger and think "man, this looks like it'd be a great plot for a fantasy novel"? isekai has you covered. (yes, it exists, it's compellingly written and funny af)
You ever wanted to read about a dude who just wants to go NC with his abusive family, live a comfortable life with good food and good friends and maybe try to figure out how to flirt with his genderqueer love interest? Isekai has got your back.
How about a kid gaining the favour of the gods and starting a societal and economical revolution just cause the fantasy world he was in didn't have musical theatre, and he simply could not with that life? isekai is your place to go.
Are you into timid girls who use getting dumped as a chance for self-help, learning that they're actually great and have worth in their own right? Boy, does isekai have like a million stories for you. No, really.
Ever wish Cinderella just went all "fuck this whole suffering meekly thing and waiting for my prince to come, I choose murder"? Isekai, baby.
Are you looking for female protagonists who reject being traditionally feminine and just do whatever they want, telling dirty jokes and not giving a shit about romance? isekai has plenty of that, actually.
Do you wish there was more gay fantasy out there? Oh my god, isekai is so fucking gay.
And let me tell you, publishers love this model. I mean, why wouldn't they, they get to publish novels they know already has an audience and a fanbase. The content already exists, so they can publish super fast with only minor revisions, meaning there's not enough lull that the fanbase loses interest and moves on between releases. (hell, most stories aren't taken down once they get published, and are updated continuously, so there's no real downtime)
The problem is, however, that generally speaking the publisher will want more fanservice for increased mainstream appeal. And then you get even more fanservice for the manga adaptation, and yet more still for the anime adaptation**** (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, I'm looking at you).
In addition, between the whole sexist idea that male audience media has universal appeal, while female or other "niche" audience media holds no mainstream (read: male) appeal, and the fact that it's cheaper and easier to do an anime for a simple, by the numbers harem series than a more complex story with a larger ensemble cast with actual personalities (easier to sell merch, too), what makes it to the screen is far from the best of what the genre has to offer.
I get why it's like this, but it still bums me the fuck out. And that's why I hate isekai anime.
And no, I don't know if the stories I linked have English translations available. Some of them definitely do (either published or fan translations), so idk, google it if you care, I guess?
*depends on how you define isekai. There are several older anime predating webnovels that technically qualify, but they were made before the term really became a thing and the genre tropes were "set", so they don't really feel like isekai anime.
**No connection to a/b/o, although the tropes have seeped into Japanese fan culture. why. Don't cross the streams
***For a given value of normal? With some of the plots you see, you have to wonder how the fuck the writer's brain works
****Production values also tend to be shit, since the studios are churning out dozens of these shows
terrified to ask this but i think i need to as someone getting into anime:
what on god's green earth is "isekai" and why are its defenders rabid
So isekai is an anime genre that roughly translates to "in another world." These shows tend to all feature some main character (almost always a teenage boy) who gets transported into another world, usually one which runs on video game logic, and usually one with fantasy/DND aesthetics, (and usually one where he gets to become a hero of sorts [eventually] and wins the attention of 3-6 hot girls with 2-dimensional personalities. You know for wish fulfillment.)
The genre by itself is not the problem. The oversaturation is.
It is what I can only assume vampire fiction was to the teen romance landscape back when Twilight was popular.
And because the isekai formula just Works for the fans, most isekai shows do not have to try at all. They can get away with a terrible plot, terrible world-building, and terrible characters because you don't need any of those to be good to appeal to the core demographic. You JUST need to be an isekai. Make sure it has cute waifus that the whale-fans will shell out $$$ for to own their figurines, and bam, you're set.
And the extreme oversaturation (both of isekai and harem shows) means it's squeezing out most anything interesting, original, or innovative. After all if you were an anime studio why WOULD you take a gamble on something innovative when you can recycle the same isekai plot for the 1,000th time and for a much safer bet at turning a profit?
There are, likely, some good isekai out there. But I'm confident in my assessment that that bad far outnumber the good. Some friends and I do a weekly bad-anime-watch-night and usually we just throw a dart at any isekai on the crunchyroll page and it is almost ALWAYS just JUST awful. And as such, someone who chows down on all isekai as their preferred type of media is going to have nothing in common with me. They would also be mad as hell at me saying that isekai is almost universally garbage.

'I'm in Love with the Villainess' Spin-off 'She's So Cheeky for a Commoner' Released Digitally in English
The first volume of Inori's spin-off light novel series I'm in Love with the Villainess: She's so Cheeky for a Commoner (Heimin no Kuse ni Namaiki an!) was released digitally in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. A physical edition will be released on February 28th.
Tumblr media
The series is a spin-off of Inori's Yuri isekai series I'm in Love with the Villainess and follows the events of the original story from the perspective of deuteragonist Claire.
The publisher describes the light novel:
Claire François has it all: beauty, brains, and the blood of nobility. As the daughter of a high-ranking noble, she takes her status and the according responsibilities with utmost seriousness--even as the king threatens to undermine his realm's stability with his visions of "meritocracy." Claire is nevertheless prepared to take this societal change in stride, until one of the new commoner students at her elite academy, Rae Taylor, turns her life upside down. Everything about Rae confounds Claire, from her behavior to her intellect to her bizarre fixation on Claire herself. Little does she realize just how much Rae will change her world, and how much she'll change Rae in turn.
Although the series follows the events of the original series, it includes new characters and events.
She's So Cheeky for a Commoner was initially released as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou. GL bunko published the second light novel digitally in Japanese in December.
Tumblr media
I’m in Love with the Villainess has been received positively by both critics and audiences, selling over 200,000 copies worldwide. It won 5th place in AnimeJapan’s 2021 annual Manga We Want to See Animated Ranking, notably beating out popular series like Spy x Family and Komi Can’t Communicate. YuriMother gave the second light novel a 10/10 score, calling it “A defining and relentlessly queer work in the next era of Yuri.”

A Story of Doing the Utmost Best for Arnold, Who is Interested in Being Scolded at by Rishe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a bonus short story written by Touko Amekawa with for 7th Time Loop Volume 6! It’s set on Rishe's 7th loop (her present one), and is about her and, well, Arnold, as usual. Contains spoilers for Volume 6, so if you haven't read that, reading this short story isn't recommended!
Illustration credits to @/LovelyFailure and @/icecreamsunday from 7th Time Loop Discord! Posted here with their permission.
(July 29 update: Touko Amekawa added some dialogue for this story, probably for commemorating Rishe's birthday, so I've edited this to reflect said added dialogue!)
I’m posting my Ko-Fi here as currently, I’ve been having financial troubles, so if anyone can donate, I would be much grateful for the help, thank you very much.
"Prince Arnold, you still...!"
"......"
The day before they returned to Galkhein from the canal city, Rishe, who visited Arnold in his bedroom, got flustered seeing her fiance head towards the desk.
"And I even asked you to refrain working on official business as it might worsen your wound..."
"This degree of work isn't a big deal. I'll finish this at once."
"Not this again!"
Arnold might have called that degree of work 'not a big deal', but there were stacks and stacks of official documents piling up on the desk.
"We will be returning by carriage tomorrow, right? In addition to our many concerns..."
Rishe herself was worried, of course, but above all else, Arnold's health came first.
Then, Arnold's hand, which was holding a quill, stopped moving, and looked at Rishe, who was standing tilted behind him.
"I think you know about how wounds heal more than I do."
"!"
He told her this very clearly, she could feel her cheeks turn hot.
(It is true that I begged His Highness to show me that everyday, but...)
She was very much aware of that matter related to Arnold.
For example, when he woke up in the morning. Or during his breaks when he was out on official business, or after bathing, Rishe was entrusted with Arnold's treatment.
Cleaning his wound, keeping it from drying, using a cloth to spread much of the medical ointment on his wound then wrapping a bandage around it.
While he was undergoing treament, she didn't mind the situation as she couldn't help but worry, but when she came back to her senses, her heart was filled with a lot of complicated feelings.
After all, Arnold took the clothes off his upper body so she could apply treatment easier.
While working in an apothecary mode back then, she wasn't even conscious of this situation, but when the details of his wound opening got pointed out in such a trifling time like this, she got directly embarrassed.
"A... At any rate, don't! Stop working! No!"
"........Ha."
While Rishe switched over in a fluster, Arnold laughed a little, looking amused.
"Prince Arnold. Are you in a good mood, perhaps?"
"Yes. I am."
"???"
Rishe tilted her head at the unexpected reply. What did Arnold like in this banter where she was scolding his actions?
"This is rather trivial. Just that..."
"Just that?"
Arnold slightly gave Rishe a seemingly provocative look.
"I was thinking of you scolding me at times like this."
"――――Ah!"
His words made Rishe understand the reason for his sudden good mood.
Since their talk about Dietrich a few days ago, for some reason Arnold showed an interest in being scolded by Rishe.
For Arnold, this moment of banter might have been the result of him testing things out.
(Still, this shouldn't be why you're still working on official business......!!)
From the bottom of her heart, she still couldn't comprehend what Arnold was thinking.
"I-if you want me to scold you, Your Highness, do something that would be a drawback to me or something I wouldn't like, instead of doing something that would be detrimental to you!"
"I don't want to choose that way."
(Ugh, you assert that as if it's obvious...)
Arnold being sincere like this was the reason why Rishe could not scold him at all.
(Oh, no, all this time, he's still continuing with those paperwork! According to Oliver, none of them are urgent official documents. It's unlikely I can stop him from working on these while we're in the carriage, but at least he must lie down and rest tonight, or the strain from sitting down might open his wound...)
Rishe then suddenly had an idea.
"Then, let's play something else!"
"?"
Arnold's eyes narrowed slightly, as if he was curious.
The fact she could catch a glimpse of emotions on him, as he was usually expressionless, made Rishe very happy.
"You can tease me in such a way that won't pose a disadvantage to me, and in a way that I won't hate but will still trouble me."
"......"
"If that's the case, Your Highness, you can tease me as much as you want, can't you? As I'd be troubled by this, I will scold you, and I'm sure you'll be satisfied by that."
"......Wait."
As Arnold's brows furrowed, she understood the sitution has changed from earlier. She might be able to persuade him by pushing this conversation through.
"You need to rest, so let's go back to bed!"
Rishe then put her hand on top of Arnold's, squeezed it, then pulled him to her direction.
"So feel free to tease me in any way you like."
"Hey. Rishe."
"You can toy then untangle the ribbons on my [nightgown], or squish my cheeks as much as you like. I will find it troubling and embarrassing, but I don't think it's a drawback for me, and I don't mind it either..."
Rishe tried to urge Arnold to stand up, then she just blinked.
Tumblr media
"Your Highness?"
"......Really, you."
The other hand Rishe wasn't holding then reached out to her. With a scolding look on his eyes, Arnold talked.
"――Being treated like this is detrimental to me."
"Huh!?"
His fingers then gently tickled the back of Rishe's neck.
Unconsciously holding her voice back, Rishe then covered her mouth with both hands. She could feel Arnold's beautifully-shaped fingers, the skin slightly rough, as expected of someone who held a sword.
Arnold said it would be a drawback to be pranked that way.
"It's... it's not like that!"
"Hm."
"It's simply t-ticklish......! Ngh..."
It seemed like something was tickling her skin, but in reality, just as Rishe suggested earlier, he was toying with the decorative [ribbon] straps of her nightgown.
Tumblr media
The nightgown's ribbon laces on the collarbones served as straps, and when touched, those straps would fall down the shoulder.
"Huh... So?"
"Mmm..."
With a slightly amused voice, he then cupped her cheeks with his right hand.
He then squished her cheeks gently, toying with them like he did before.
"So, after all, you're not going to scold me?"
"You're not lying down on bed and resting, so I won't scold you yet......! Nnnnn..... Your Highness!"
To begin with, even though this might feel like a scolding, it might be different to Arnold.
The hand that was on Rishe's cheeks now moved to trace her ear smoothly. And his deep voice reached Rishe's ears.
"Look at me...… If you don't like this, then say so."
(After all, it's not that I don't like this.......)
In that moment, Rishe noticed all of a sudden.
(――――Ah, I did it again!)
She went, Pah!, and immediately stepped back away from him.
"I... I apologize! I'm sorry for abusing my authority over and over!"
"......?"
As Rishe mentioned "abuse of authority", Arnold then made this baffled, sullen expression.
However, he stopped his prank of tickling her, so Rishe used that moment to escape.
"Please wait! Let me arrange the bed again so you can lie down there and carry out your official duties in a more comfortable position!"
"......All right."
She rushed to the bed while apologizing.
(…I shouldn't have done that.)
She gathered and arranged all the fluffy cushions and pillows, making full use of all her skills from her life as a maid, however, she couldn't manage to look at Arnold.
(To think I'm using such an excuse to make the person I love pay attention to me......!)
Right now, Rishe was probably the one more eager to be scolded by Arnold.
Although she would never say it directly, she said something in a very quiet voice while Arnold's back was turned on her.
"Next time, I'll think of another way to scold you, Prince Arnold..."
"......You know."
"?"
After Arnold somehow made a bitter-sounding utterance, he didn't say anything after that.
To at least make up for what she did earlier, Rishe then tidied up the bed to help with his paperwork later on.
