Guard didn't start out training as a guard. In fact, he was a Suncat. Being the only sun-furred kitten at suneve, it was basically a no-brainer he got picked — and he was perfect, with his fur and eyes, everyone thought She loved him even though he was... well, male. That was until a few months later... a single kitten was born, and God ripped itself from his body, instead going into the new Suncat.

To say he was mad was an understatement. He demanded right there and then to be Suncats guard — after all, who better to train and guard her than the previous suncat? Murmurings were had about this, but it was ultimately decided — he took on the name Guard, and would protect her.

Resentment festered within however, why would She pick this dinky little kitten over him? Her fur, her eyes, her patterns... it was all wrong! She wasn't fit for it. Why did She forsake him?

If he couldn't be perfect for Her... he'd make sure she would.

the fun thing about warrior cats having no set designs is seeing a design like this and having to deduce via context clues in 0.5 seconds whether it's ashfur, cinderpelt, crowfeather, bluestar, cinderheart, or perchpaw

#could even be a dark jayfeather or a pale ravenwing. perhaps even a younger goosefeather #reedwhisker? spotfur? jagged peak? stonefur? mistystar?#warrior cats #it's cinderpelt and crowfeather i get briefly confused most often bc they both have relevant reasons to pop up in leafpool art/videos #sure crowfeather is skinny and short-furred 99% of the time but a lot of people draw cinder skinny and short-furred too #so the leg injury is the only consistent hint and not everyone draws that the exact same way

idk if i'll get burned at the stake for this but in defense of moonpaw's canon design being a chimera [unrelated to the split face; that is notably not a sign of chimerism]

i don't think a regular cat can be solid and tabby at the same time [considering how the agouti gene works, they are one or the other], so if moonpaw's orange is just straight tabby and not solid presenting as tabby due to the red gene, this design could absolutely be a chimera!

take all of this w a grain of salt tho [and correct me if i'm wrong on anything] i am just a guy on the internet who's interested in cat genetics
