Elden Ring is the first game from FROMSOFTWARE that I played (I am very late to the party) and it is one of my favorite games of all time. It is also the first game of it's kind that I have ever played ('Soulsborne' and it's wider category) so I was absolutely fucking ass at it and only managed to beat it with my girlfriend, who has 300+ hours, carrying me in seamless coop.

Mohg is my favorite character for a multitude of reasons and I wish nothing but the best for him. Rykard and Rennala are tied for my second favorite.

I also really love the OST. I apologize to all Orchestral Slop Haters, but... they're my favorite genre of VGM. Please recommend me your favorite Orchestral and Choral VGM that is not from Destiny because I WILL listen to it (once I'm done listening to the ones from last week's birthday post...)

Because how else could you explain them perfectly nailing the intro, buildup, and fight music for one of the game's best bosses while remaining tense, gritty, yet utterly distinct from any other song in the game????

The raw emotion captured here is fucking palpable.

I don't know how to describe it, but when the track listing was revealed, I somehow *knew* this track would be a vocal one. The whole staff as the chorus compounds the idea that not only something happened during production with the music, but everyone at From that worked on this game did so with all of their hearts and souls. Listen to that CHANT, man. Powerful stuff, my God.

And this wasn't even Kota. This is Shoi Miyazawa's song. Fuck me, I love Armored Core.

In relation to my earlier post, *this" is a Shoi Miyazawa appreciation post because let's be real he doesn't have one song that misses, and I will fight on that.

The way every theme is so different yet is able to lend itself fully to its respective boss. UGH!

The man arguably created the best songs in the base game (minus The Final Battle, who was Saitoh!) but took pieces he made in the base game and applied them to bosses in the dlc using excerpts from his base game songs!!

I couldn't find evidence of this but I'm also led to believe Miyazawa did the Merchant's Song as well, which would make sense as it's contained in Midras theme. It's not on Spotify and doesn't seem to be on the OST list. If anyone could find definitive prove of this I'd love you forever.

Magni has a purely instrumental playlist as of right now, so taking that into account:

I have a tradition of assigning a Soulsborne (or Soulslike) boss theme per OC wherever I can and when I thought about what Magni should get, Radahn's base game felt like the only appropriate option for them. Since the entire (intended) premise of the fight is to summon allies to defeat one of the most powerful pieces on the board together, it fits with how the Warden calls upon allies to help them slay the Archdemon.

But it's also a final farewell to a beloved general from his soldiers, who want to give him an honourable death in combat, a chance to go down in glory, rather than see his madness caused by the Scarlet Rot continue. And if that's not a Magni situation that's coming up towards the tail end of his life, as Orzammar's Paragon, with the Blight, the berserking and the dragon's blood taking control of his mind, then I'm not sure what it is.
