Introduction Post (V3)
It's officially been one year since I joined Tumblr and made my introduction post, so it's time for another small update to my pinned intro. Shoutout to Tumblr for being the only social media site I've been able to stick with for a full year!
I'll start by sharing a bit about myself: I am a writer! I write a ton of poetry and am working on a couple larger prose projects. One day I hope to put out a series about monster hunting trans women, but for now, I mostly write poetry dripping with angst and sapphic yearning. I also hope to start branching into fanfiction soon, which is something I've wanted to try for quite some time. I'm a Dungeon Master who has been playing D&D (and other TTRPGs when the fates align) since I was about 12. I'm in my mid twenties now, and I reblog a lot of stuff that contains nudity and gore so be advised. I consider this an adults only space.
My vibe as a person is somewhere between Princess Peach and the narrator from the short story "The Fall of the House of Usher". I love all things feminine, cute, and bubbly, but am also obsessed with all things gothic, rundown, and vicious. If I ever find something that sufficiently blends the lines between a magical girl/princess story and full blown gothic horror I will be over the moon. I also really love the vibes of rotting post-apocalyptic cities (especially if they include a theme park) and traveling monster hunters.
This account is mostly reblogs of cool fanart and funny/interesting texposts (things I reblog from the most often include: The Locked Tomb, Dungeon Meshi, Slay the Princess, Hades, and Madoka Magica), but I do occasionally also share my own observations, anaylsis, or jokes if I'm feeling particularly bold.
If you want to see my original posts you can find them at the tag #entombedposts
If you want to see reblogs where I actually remembered to say something you can find them at the tag #entombedreblogs
I DO ALSO POST MY WRITING ON TUMBLR, I JUST DON'T DO IT FROM THIS BLOG! IF YOU'RE INTERSTED IN SEEING ANY OF MY WORK THERE'S A FEW PLACES YOU CAN DO THAT!
If you want to see poetry, scraps of prose, and anything that I manage to get published you can find that here: @myovergrowngarden
I am going to try to be more active on there in 2025.
If you want to read through the lore and events of my current D&D campaign, you can find that here: @yeehaw-in-magic-space
As of writing this, the first arc of the campaign has just reached its conclusion and the last recap was posted a couple days ago, so now is a great time to catch up.
Some of my favorite books/short stories include: The Locked Tomb series, The Poet X, Clap When You Land, Family Lore, Any Other City, The Honey Month, This Is How You Lose the Time War, The Hunger Games Trilogy, An Education in Malice, Vampires of El Norte The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death, The Cask of Amontillado, (insert a bunch more Edgar Allan Poe stories here), Mexican Gothic, The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, Why Don't We Just Kill the Kid In the Omelas Hole, Orientation, Bartleby the Scrivener, White Smoke, The Iliad/Odyssey.
Some of my favorite shows include: Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Midnight Mass, Black Sails, Game of Thrones (seasons 1-4), House of the Dragon, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Firefly, Chernobyl.
Some of my favorite cartoons/anime include: Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, Arcane, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, Delicious in Dungeon, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Noragami, Hunter X Hunter, Simoun, Chainsaw Man, the old DCAU (Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Static Shock, JLU), Teen Titans, Star Wars Rebels, High Guardian Spice, Gravity Falls, Amphibia.
Some of my favorite video games include: The Last of Us PT II, Get in the Car, Loser, Hades/Hades II, Darkest Dungeon, Fallout: New Vegas, Celeste, Ace Attorney, Dark Souls, Dead Cells, Epic Mickey, We Know the Devil, Slay the Princess, Long Live the Queen, Shovel Knight, Princess Peach Showtime, Monster Prom/Camp/Road Trip. I also love a lot of card/board games, but I think that would push us over the text limit so I'm just going to mention that briefly.
Some of my favorite movies include: I Saw the TV Glow, Tick Tick Boom, Star Wars (particularly VI, VIII, IV, V), Lord of the Rings, Whisper of the Heart, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, (insert a bunch more Studio Ghibli movies here), Look Back, Birds of Prey, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snowpiercer, Annihilation, Prospect, Whiplash, Sorry to Bother You, Banshees of Inisherin, Knives Out, Glass Onion, the Fear Street Trilogy, a bunch of the Saw movies, Us, Get Out, Nope, Nosferatu (1922), Nosferatu (2024).

Actually I disagree! Like Isn't a conquer of an entire city in arguably one or two days and the slaughter that followed afterwards an epic scene?! Like I spent DAYS to imagine how Ismarus conquest would look like when I write my version of it:
Isn't storm that blasted for DAYS AND DAYS not an epic visual to adapt? Like literally one of the most famous Pirates of the Caribbean scenes was a storm! You could literally do a 10 minute sequence just with the storm and the struggle of 12 ships to stay together in the storm (I was even planning to write that scene).
Isn't the story, the pure HORROR MATERIAL of 12 guys locked up in one cave watching live cannibalistic splatter not an epic scene?
Isn't the pushing back by the winds of an entire fleet an epic scene?!
Isn't the destruction of a fleet by giant rocks and giant creatures that spear humans like fish not an epic scene to behold?
Isn't a giant whirlpool that can swallow you whole an epic scene? Literally the most epic scene of Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy was a whirlpool scene!
Wasn't the planning and killing of 108 men an epic scene (and the description in the book were just fucking awesome!)
I think Holywood is INADEQUATE to capture this awesomeness of plot! Also the mistake hollywood makes is that in order to have epic plots you only need to have epic battles but in reality the epicness of the Odyssey was that the entire environment is greater than you; the dangers are everywhere and can kill you at any moment and the way that the giants and whirlpools and the monsters are around you, you are small and helpless and you have to crawl your way through. So actyually I think the myths are THE VERY SOURCE MATERIAL of the "cool visuals" they want and I am always shocked at how much VISUALS they could get if they decided to follow the descriptions of Homer! Like seriously Iliad makes Lord of the Rings look like a small battle if you read the battle scenes in detail! Odyssey makes Hobbit look like a simple trip if you follow exactly the things it describes (personal opinion of course. Have enothing against Tolkien fans)
So actually I disagree; Odyssey could give you the BEST cool visuals but not because Odysseus is like the superhuman that can chew up gods for breakfast but because LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE can chew Odysseus for breakfast and the dude managed to hold onto everything he had AND go back to his home and achieved his goal even if everything else around him could kill him!
The Age of Information and Selective Ignorance
Tumblr media
The internet has given us access to a treasure trove of knowledge, yet we often encounter posts like the one in question. Ever since a famous director Nolan, announces his next project being the Odyssey, it's like the Pandora's box opened and many start saying nonsense online.
1. "So what if people don’t know what it is?"
It’s fair to acknowledge that no one can know everything—life is busy, and there’s an endless stream of content to consume. But when it comes to The Odyssey, one of the foundational texts of global literature, ignorance hits a bit differently. It's not just a random book; it's a cultural artifact that has shaped storytelling for thousands of years.
If you're on the internet (which you clearly are) and see discussions surrounding a classic like this, why not spend five minutes Googling it? We’re living in an age where knowledge is literally a click away.
2. "Are people supposed to be aware of every single piece of literature?"
No, but some pieces of literature are universal touchstones. The Odyssey and The Iliad aren’t just books—they’re cornerstones of civilization, referenced in movies, music, and art across cultures. It’s not about reading every classic but recognizing those works that have had a global impact.
3. "Schools teach different things, right?"
Sure, curriculums vary. However, many schools worldwide at least introduce Homeric epics as part of history or literature classes. Even if your school didn’t cover The Odyssey, you’ve likely been exposed to its themes or characters indirectly. Odysseus’ archetypal journey influences countless modern heroes, from Frodo to Katniss Everdeen.
4. The Internet Paradox
The ironic part of this post is the medium it was shared on. If you can rant about people discussing The Odyssey online, why not research what it is first? You can’t criticize others for knowing it while proudly broadcasting your ignorance.
Even a basic search would tell you The Odyssey is an ancient Greek epic, not a modern novel with "random sea god Poseidon" on the cover.
5. Why Does This Matter?
This post embodies a broader issue: the normalization of selective ignorance. When people proudly dismiss foundational knowledge, it signals a troubling cultural shift. The classics, whether you’ve read them or not, are bridges between past and present. They remind us where we’ve been and help us make sense of where we’re going.
To dismiss a text like The Odyssey, isn’t just about not knowing who Odysseus is—it’s a failure to appreciate the interconnectedness of history, literature, and culture.
- Conclusion:
Rather than defensively justifying ignorance, why not lean into curiosity? No one is born knowing everything, but the beauty of living in an information-rich era is the ability to learn. If a Nolan movie announcement sparks discussions about The Odyssey, see it as an opportunity to dive into one of the greatest stories ever told.
Instead of asking, “Why do people expect me to know this?” try asking, “What can I learn from this?”

Introduction Post (V2)
I did an introduction post 7-8 months ago and it's really bad, so I wanted to do a new one.
Hello! I am relatively new to tumblr, but I've been here for over six months now, and it's the only social media I've been able to stick with for this long. It feels like I've officially put down roots with this blog, so I wanted to give myself a proper introduction.
A little about me: I'm a writer with a particular emphasis on poetry and fiction that angsts about identity. I'm a Dungeon Master who has been playing D&D (and occasionally other ttrpgs) since I was 12-13. I'm in my mid twenties (and am going to post accordingly so I don't want to see any minors interacting). I'm a lesbian, and ngl pretty much everything I say or do has an undertone of sapphic yearning. If i had to define my taste in general I love anything that is super feminine, pink, and princessy, and also anything that is gothic, rotted, and miserable. Anything that could combine the vibes of like Princess Peach/Sailor Moon and Edgar Allan Poe would be a dream come true for me. I also have a deep love on run down apocalyptic settings (especially if they include a theme park).
This blog will mainly be reblogs, fandom posts, and random things about myself and what I'm thinking. It's just kind of a personal haven to express myself and show my friends cool stuff I saw. I was originally going to make this a place where I posted about my writing/D&D, but all of that stuff kept getting buried, so I decided to delete those posts and make a couple dedicated sideblogs.
If you want to see my original posts i use the hashtag #entombedpost and for reblogs where I remembered to say something I use #entombedreblog
Follow @myovergrowngarden if you want to read/hear about my writing
Follow @yeehaw-in-magic-space if you want to hear about the adventures that take place in my space western/fantasy horror D&D campaign. I recap every session and drop random bits of lore on this account.
