Erik grinned at the man sitted before him and raised his cup in cheer, before emptying it in one shot. He licked his lips and leaned on one elbow as he filled it again. How much times had he poured whiskey in it tonight? He didn’t know, but given the number of bottles lying around on his side of the table, it must be a lot. Still, it wasn’t enough for him as he pressed his cup against his lips, giving a mischievous smile at the Nord, who seemed to be almost as wasted as him.

He put down his drink, blue eyes glistening as he reached to the blonde’s arm, patting it in a friendly manner. He shook his head in approval.

“Aye, see? You, you understand me. You get it. Only thing’s important in this hellhole is-” He picked up the bottle and waved it in a theatrical gesture. “-this. You have it, you drink it and poof, no problems anymore. Why be sober when you can be drunk, right?” He hasn’t been sober in years after all, and he didn’t plan to change that. At least, alcohol distracted him from memories he’d rather not think about, even though they often came back as nightmares.

  HE greeted her with a smile that was, for him, warm. Sven was like the city he hailed from— cold, UNFORGIVING, built up with stone walls high enough to keep the world out. But those walls could be scaled, the ice in his heart melted with fires born of care and good nature, the ROUGHNESS of his edges smoothed into something a little… softer. But all that came with time, and time was perhaps not on his side. Or maybe it was— he always seemed to find a little extra, SOMEHOW.

  “TYYNE,” he spoke with a little bow of his head as the breeze blew blond curls into blue eyes. He moved forward, pressed a little to KISS to both of her cheeks. It was, as much as it could have been for a man like Sven, an act of politeness accompanied by a softer smile. “Good to see you. How has life treated you? Well, I hope?”

Time had passed since their encounter and the huntress wondered, if the gods would bring them together yet again. And yet, the familiar timber from behind had the woman mirroring the smile, the bag from her side was released and hands slipped to his shoulders.

He was always kind, and had no willingness to accept payment for his help with the bandits and the healing - she practicly stole the septims into his pouch at one point he ran out to piss at the tavern-, the thought amused the woman, wondering if there would be retaliation for the deed or if he noticed at all.

They should.  What protected bad people from bad things?  They never seemed to get what they deserved - not unless someone better rose up to strike them down.

The dunmer shifted uncomfortably, images of his old master’s unceremonious fall from grace playing again before his eyes.  Almost instinctively he reached up, fingers wrapping the cracked gem held tight in the amulet about his neck.  

“Of course, sera,” he agreed, sharpened gaze softening as brows pulled together.  “They should.  But far too often it’s good people suffering bad things.”  Grip released the amulet.  He shook his head, waving his own thoughts away.  “Did you have someone in mind or…simply musing, sera?”

“I DO NOT have the magical abilities to poison an apple, Sven.” She laughed as she placed the fruit in his hand before taking a seat across from him. “And do not worry about me. A princess takes care of her own before herself. Even while she’s an exiled rebel.” She added the last bit as a jest, despite its truth, because she did not care. After all, if and when the Stormcloaks finally won this thankless war, Ulfric would become High King, thereby removing her status as the princess. But that was fine, because he was surely a better leader than her mother no matter how much she loved her.

WHAT WASN'T FINE, though, was standing by and watching her companions starve. Which is why Ciri made her rounds through the camp to distribute food to others after scavenging what she and some others could find. A difficult process with so many mouths to feed, but it was worth it, seeing as it at least partially satisfied the soldiers until real food could come. And the Divines only knew when that time would come.

“BUT IF IT helps you rest at night, the others of our little scavenging group and I will eat later when we go back out for more,” Ciri went on with a half smile of her own. “There’s a few apple trees not too far from here that we got these from. There were some left before we filled our sacks. And when we go again, I think we will try to hunt. Meat fills the stomach better than apples, after all.”

        Through her pain, somehow, a smile grows. It blossoms like spring flower, buds finally released from enveloping snow. Rapunzel is not often hurt like this and, though she knows what Sven speaks is truth --;; she could not help her dramatics. It was well within her creative nature, something her companion seemed yet to understand.

                “Oh but had you not been there to carry me, surely I would have perished to the wolves! Woe would be the tales of fair Josephine, lost and injured in dense wood!,“ nearly swooning, hand back held to her forehead. The woman giggles. “but praise be with Sven, the man who saved her.“

maybe  the  tell  is  that  his  appearance  is  burly  ,  brutish  .  or  maybe  it’s  the  way  he  carries  himself  in  such  a  demanding  hold  upon  the  world  .  it’s  an  attractive  aura  ,  at  least  to  a  woman  who  was  based  around  the  strength  of  her  armies  and  even  then  .  there  was  an  odd  sense  of  --  difference  that  clung  to  him  .
