when i got into my first musha fight, i was nervous because i thought i have to make choices in battle. was slightly relieved (and slightly disappointed) when it never happened on common and hero route. didn't expect to actually do it here, on nemesis route like, this was the exact thing i imagined when suzukawa's tsurugi screen showed up for the first time. it's actually really fun....makes the battle all the more engaging

re: kanae falling in love with kageaki; i really cant blame her. besides the (gestures generally) everything about him, if a man said he's dedicating his life and death to me, and willing to die by my hand, i'd fall in love with him too. yes, i do realize how deranged that sounds

i recall a similar scene in ichijo's route. at that time, i was extremely confused and intrigued. i knew that kageaki had feelings for her, but didn't know what it is that's holding him back from admitting it. now that i'm familiar enough with one of muramasa's theme, "abandoning your humanity to reach your ideals", a similar scene happening in kanae's route is no longer a surprise. reading this still made me melancholic though....the emotions is much more subtle in kanae's route, meanwhile in ichijo's, it was intense. though funnily, it was never properly addressed in ichijo's route. meanwhile here both the narative and the characters acknowledge kageaki and kanae's romantic feelings for each other 🥺

very interesting that in ichijo's route, kageaki's resolve was to oppose the concept of justice to the very end, telling her to not call her fight 'just' as it would lead to more strife in the future meanwhile here, he accepts kanae's vengeance as true 'justice'

this light convo between kageaki and kanae, with only the sound of violin in the background makes me anxious because i know what's coming....i can feel my heart beating faster

Totomaru Minowa (箕輪 斗々丸 Minowa Totomaru) is a male protagonist of the otome game Kenka Bancho Otome.

Totomaru is a pure, good deliquent whose very passionate in life and would do anything for his friends. He doesn’t have a back side and he can connect with others. He also cares for bonds, and he will help other people without expecting something in return.

To his worst, he’s a thickheaded person and he doesn’t notice that Hinako is a girl. Despite this he is actually really good at studying.

Abilities:

Martial arts: As a delinquent, he has a good skill in martial arts and he is able to use it in battles.

Making Friends/Loved by children: In the manga, it is shown that he is good when it come to making friends and he likeable by children.

Intelligence/Studying: It is shown in the anime that despite his appearance, Totomaru is a smart guy who's good at studying.

Hinako Nakayama:

Initially, Totomaru defends Hinako from their classmates saying that it isn't right to be picking on the weak. He invites her to stick with him as he doesn't like seeing him get picked on. Once he realizes that she is "Onigashima Hikaru", he gets irritated and accuses her of acting weak to try to fool people. He challenges her to a battle and gets defeated by one punch (although in the anime, she lands four punches). After that, he recognized her superiority and becomes a close friend. He vows to always have her back and to protect her. From the beginning, Hinako has always been able to make Totomaru blush.

Totomaru has brown eyes, blond hair and wears a lime green headband. At school he wears an orange hoodie underneath his gakuran jacket and wears a gray "Let's Play a game" graphic shirt with the number 10 underneath. When not at school, he wears a sleeveless red hoodie, army pattern pants and an orange headband.

Lots I super love about the first two routes of Full Metal Daemon Muramasa, one thing that’s specifically great is like. the difference in antagonists between the two? (as well as showcasing different facets of the worldbuilding and setting)

like with Hero route focusing more on Rokuhara and opposing it, Ichijo fighting Doshin,

and Nemesis route focusing more on GHQ (and how they’re basically both the British and American empires simultaneously, and how even though the American faction within GHQ wants to break out from under the Crown’s thumb, they’ve got utterly no respect or concern for the people of Yamato. see: the nuclear bomb), and Kanae fighting Shishiku,

and how you see in the two of the Generals facing the heroines in both of these routes, you have Ichijo facing Doshin for moral reasons, at the urging of both Masamune and her own ideals, unable to stand what Doshin did at the play, compared to Kanae’s rampage through her own house, opposing Shishiku for her own personal reasons, revenge for her father and, in a way, herself, for the love Shishiku and herself may have once held,

and the way these routes play very well off each other in this way, just through who the ‘enemies’ are and who you fight.

Yep this is how i’m going to bring over all the anime and manga i’ve watched and posted about on the old blog. It’s not so detailed but it will have to do. Anything new I watch or read from this point on will have their own posts.

Karneval

Synopsis:  While in search of his precious friend, a young boy named Nai falls captive to a beautiful woman, whose looks are matched only by her taste for human flesh. As she transforms into a ghoulish monster, the boys flee. Finished airing in 2013 with a total of 13 episodes. 

My Thoughts: Love the character design and I was interested in the story but the series is far too short. I’d suggest you go read the manga (which is farther along) but it’s rarely updated so I can’t confidently say it’s worth the read. Your choice is read/ watch this and suffer alongside me with the lack of updates or erase its existence from your mind. Your call! 

Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Run with the Wind)

Genres: comedy, sports, drama

Synopsis:  Former ace runner of Sendai Josei High School, Kakeru Kurahara is chased away from a convenience store for shoplifting. Shaking off his pursuer, he runs into Haiji Kiyose, another student from his university. Haiji is impressed by Kakeru's agility and persuades him to live in Chikusei-sou, the run-down apartment where Haiji resides along with eight other students. Finished airing in 2019 with a total of 23 episodes. 

My Thoughts: This was a masterpiece in my opinion, an anime I won’t soon forget and one of the best of its season without a doubt! Good stuff right here and not in a high school setting which is a change of pace for a sports anime! A very satisfying anime that I highly recommend. 

Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises)

Genres: drama, historical, romance, film

My Thoughts: Beautiful and dreamy but not one of my favourite anime films unfortunately. Still very good though!

My Thoughts: I recall this terribly sad episode that was an absolute masterpiece but to be honest the rest of the series didn’t leave much of an impression on me. I didn’t even bother watching the second season when it came out. Do what you will with that information.

Genres: action, martial arts, school, shoujo, TV short

Synopsis:  Kenka Banchou Otome - Girl Beats Boys, Hinako Nakayama has spent all of her life being raised in state-run orphanages, without ever knowing her family. As she's about to enter high school, Hinako is approached by Hikaru, a boy who claims to be her twin brother. According to Hikaru, Hikaru and Hinako are the children of the head of the powerful Onigashima yakuza family, and Hikaru wants Hinako to switches places with him at Shishiku Academy, an all-boys school overrun with the nation's toughest delinquents. My Thoughts: Reverse harem style, tv short with a tomboy female lead. Not really long enough to leave much of an impression but fun enough if you have some time to waste. Surprisingly great art/ animation.

Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun

Genres: comedy, seinen, sports

Synopsis:  He is charming, cool, athletic, a good cook, but more importantly, he's a clean freak. Aoyama is idolized and respected by everyone, but they can only admire him from afar due to his mysophobia. Despite that, he plays soccer—a rather dirty sport! As the playmaker for Fujimi High School's soccer club, Aoyama avoids physical contact at all cost and cleanly dribbles toward victory. However, the path to Nationals will not be easy for Fujimi's underdog team. But alongside striker Kaoru Zaizen, Aoyama will show everyone that even as a clean freak, there are things he's willing to get dirty for. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

My Thoughts: comical with what I recall to be very little focus on the actual playing of sports which is a bummer if that’s what you’re looking for. It was alright but there are definitely better comedy (and for sure sports) anime's out there!

My Thoughts: One of my top three favourite anime's of all time despite my not giving it a perfect score and the sole reason i’m such a Trigger fangirl despite the way they continue to disappoint me with each and every new release... Highly recommend! Fair warning there’s plenty of skimpy outfits and fan service which may turn some off but if you can get past it this really is an anime worth checking out. Great story, characters, music and style! A chaotic feast for the eyes and ears! I really should rewatch it...

Anime Spotlight - Girl Beats Boys

This was a complete guilty pleasure watch and since the eps are only 7mins each a really easy watch. I really just watch for the pretty boys and watching a girl beat them up and become their boss.

The plot is Growing up as an orphan, Hinako is shocked to learn that she has an older twin brother called Hikaru. Born as a yakuza, Hikaru requests Hinako to switch places with him at Shishiku Academy, an all-boys school overrun with Japan's toughest delinquents, and become the new yakuza boss. 

Its really simple and basic but an fun little anime if you fancy some simple pleasure of watching pretty boys angst and blush and fight and not realize that their “boss” is a girl so struggle with why they are attracted to “him”. As I said was a guilty pleasure watch that I believe is based off an Otome game.
