history ━ 1937 fox vault fire

the 1937 fox vault fire occurred on july 9th, 1937 in a 20th century-fox storage facility in new jersey. in new jersey, gases produced by decaying film, combined with high temperatures and inadequate ventilation, resulted in spontaneous combustion. one death and two injuries resulted from the fire, which also destroyed all the archived film in the vaults, resulting in the loss of most of the silent films produced by the fox film corporation before 1932. films lost to the fire include pictures starring theda bara, shirley mason, william farnum, and etc. for some, it destoryed all their movies like valeska surratt, who has no existing films left. this incident spurred an interest in fire safety, and so by the 1950s, the use of nitrate film in the united states had been essentially eliminated.

"Aunque respeto y admiro mucho a Madonna, yo nunca fui su fan, pero si lo era mi hermana menor que estaba obsesionada con ella y todo el día ponía su música. En el año 1998 me la crucé en los premios Mtv de Estados Unidos y en un momento ella pasó al lado mío y me tocó y me dijo al oído: 'Eres fantástica! Te admiro mucho'. En ese momento yo quedé como shockeada porque no podía creer que alguien tan importante me admire a mi.

Me da mucha indignación el acoso y el abuso constante que recibe hoy en día por su aspecto físico. Es absurdo criticar a una persona porque envejeció! Todos envejecemos. Y si se hizo cirugías, o si se las sigue haciendo, es su problema. Mejor dediquense a pensar en que han hecho ustedes de bueno para con su prójimo. Madonna ha hecho feliz a muchas personas y a��n hoy sigue haciendo cosas por el prójimo y sigue alegrando a miles de personas con su música.

Ella es la reina de la música".

I think its the first time I've seen anything where Charlie and Shirley are talking to one another, at least audibly. It is wonderfully cute.

This is so lovely! I saw a version of it years ago, but it was much shorter and the quality was so poor that I never bothered to post or gif it. It’s a shame we don’t have more footage of them interacting because they’re exactly as funny and cute as one would expect. (Also, sorry about how the thumbnail looks. If you click on the video to play that header and the control buttons will disappear after a few seconds, there was just no way for me to screen capture the first bit of the video without them).

Also, I’m not a dog person, but I love the Wattses rescue dogs. Especially this girl who is so emo about her mum and dad not paying 100% attention to her.
