Top 5 AA characters most likely to get abduc-- adopted by a feral pack of drunk girls?
In no particular order:
Apollo -- He's small enough they would LOVE him. He would be so grumpy and mad about it but too polite to ask them to leave so they're all just fawning over him like "aww! we love you!" They are taking so many pictures with him and his little red vest. Small person at a party struggles. He's quite literally their little rabbit for the night.
Klav -- A pack of drunk girls can sense distress better than any psychological tool. He walks in and one of them asks if he's ok and then they're giving him shirley temples the rest of the night. They leave with free tickets to his next show (none of them recognized him the closest they got was "wow you look like someone")
Franziska -- You might not think this BUT they see her in the bathroom and go "we LOVE your look!" and then she befriends them and ultimately starts leading them. Courtesy of @onewit-torulethem-all and @insuredgecko, one of them would read her for filth and be like "you know its ok to not be strong all the time" and she would just break down and they would all comfort her for a while. She would protect any of them with her life (and her whip). She leaves with 5 new numbers in a group chat and a promise for a meeting next weekend.
Trucy -- She does a magic trick for them and they're all so amazed they pull up a chair for her and start talking to her extensively. This is an extremely mutual melding they have all adopted each other she is meshing in beautifully she loves a captive audience. She doesn't even do a trick one time she just gives a girl a napkin and the girl's like "you're so nice! You're going to be at my wedding bestie" (she is, she's the entertainment and she does it for free)
And last but not least (also courtesy of Wit), Feenie post-breakup with Dahlia -- Larry drags him to the bar and then immediately leaves him. Phoenix is sitting at the bar alone and just crying into his coke. The girls converge on him and lead him to their table where they give him life advice and try to help his self esteem. He's trying to nod along while absolutely sobbing. He has 5 big sisters for the night and all of them are telling him he's cute and nice and deserves to be happy. Two of them are threatening to go down to the prison themselves to kick her ass. Another is threatening to burn the sweater in a back alley. He does leave feeling a little better because there is nothing better than a drunk girl peptalk.

Top 3 Feel-Good YA LGBT novels
In the past few years, I have found myself drawn back into the world of YA lit., but this time with protagonists just as queer as I am. Seeing myself reflected in the stories I love to read is something that really matters to me. So without further ado, in no particular order here are my top three feel-good YA novels with LGBT+ protagonists!
Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann
After Alice’s girlfriend breaks up with her for being asexual, Alice decides she has had enough of romance thank you very much. Unfortunately, new library employee Takumi and the butterflies he gives her, did not get the memo. Alice has to decide if pursuing a relationship that may not be understood is worth risking their friendship for?
This was the first time in fiction I had seen a character say, “I’m asexual” and that means a lot. It paints a truthful picture of approaching dating as an asexual person and that’s why it’s close to my heart. But it’s also a beautiful romance in its own right. Alice is a very easy person to relate to – she loves food and fandom and books – and we all wish for a friendship like Alice and her best friends Feenie and Ryan.
Seven Tears at High Tide by C.B. Lee
Kevin Luong has his heart broken and makes a wish into the sea for one summer to be happy and in love. Morgan, a selkie, hears Kevin’s wish and does his best to fulfil it. As time goes on though Morgan finds himself torn between the selkie world he has always known and the exciting human world with Kevin.
I have read this book numerous times because it fills me with joy. There is no coming out storyline, no homophobia faced by the couple – just a cute summer romance between two boys. Morgan’s childlike wonder at the world around him is beautiful and made me stop and think about all the parts of our world that we take for granted. The selkie part is what drew me to the story and I wasn’t disappointed.
Beautiful Music For Ugly Children by Kirstin Cronn-Mills
"This is Beautiful Music for Ugly Children, on community radio 90.3, KZUK. I'm Gabe. Welcome to my show." Gabe loves music and his best friend John has just gotten him a slot on a community radio station, but things start getting complicated when the fans of the station know him as Gabe and nearly everyone else knows him as Liz…
Gabe feels like a real person and while coming out is an important part of the story, his radio show and his crush are also important parts of the story. Coming out is a blip in his story, not the whole thing. That makes it stand out from other books about trans people I’ve read. The author notes that while she is very proud of this novel, as a cis woman it is not something she would write again and encourages us to go out and read books about trans characters written by trans authors.
Honorary mentions to The Unknowns by Shirley-Anne McMillian, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, Far From You by Tess Sharpe and the All Out anthology edited by Saundra Mitchell. I loved them all but unfortunately, they didn’t quite make it into my top three.
