THREE SHIPS: All ffxiv ships I'm afraid, because my WoL Aureia is my little guy and I enjoy putting her in Situations with people and seeing what happens.

Aureia/Thancred. idk. they. 🥺It takes so much work and effort to get where they are. It's cyclical--there's so many times they got close to something happening, but the mix of emotional unavailability, miscommunication + circumstance resets things and they have to work it back up from ground zero several times over. Even when they are together, it's not the endpoint, there's still a lot of work. Relationships take effort.

Aureia/Aymeric. I've done him so dirty, I'm sorry, Aymeric. 😭 He's the person she needs at the time, but not the one she needs later. There's a lot of love here, but ultimately their wants and desires don't align. Ishgardian politics adds another layer to it, too. It's not doomed from the start, but it does end up in a place where... it would take a considerable amount of work to keep it going, he was willing to take that risk, but she decided to end things.

Aureia/Sidurgu. This is the maybe. The what if. Had circumstances been different, maybe things would have worked out for them, but she knows that trying to build something with him out of her current situation is just going to end up hurting them both. It doesn't last very long, but it could have been.

1. What made you ship it?

The short answer is: Two hot fighterpilots yes please.

The long answer: Well, when the NJO started coming out I was 13ish, and I was starting to notice that a lot of shows/books/culture would just...constantly shit on teenage girls. And a lot of the "romantic teen" whatever seemed to have the boy just constantly negging the girl, no matter how awesome she was. And then there's Jaina, constantly trying her best and doing incredible things and then this dude appears and....skips over a bunch of politicians (and probably gets hell for doing it) in order to meet her first? Because he respects her so much? Hell yes. I was all in.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

There's a lot.

They clearly respect the hell out of each other but also just constantly rag on each other, which is an underrated form of affection imo.

I also really liked that at the end of the NJO Jag was like "come back to Chiss space with me?" and Jaina said "no, there's just so much more I want to do, Jedi Stuff, you get it" and Jag was ok with that. Was absolutely not expecting that turn of events. Was I expecting roughly a proposal? Yeah, kinda. But then she said no! That never happens anywhere! At the end of the NJO I was ~18 and just now starting to realize that so many stories ended with a proposal where the girl accepted, no matter how young (looking at you Ella Enchanted) and to have the girl say no was inconceivable to me. But she did! I know it's weird to have "she said no to making it more serious" as one of the things I enjoy about the ship but it's true.

I really enjoy the way Allston wrote their relationship on Borleias and how they kind of...suck at sneaking around, but they get away with it anyway because Jaina's pretending to be a goddess.

Also enjoy that he's basically a giant rule follower, one of the strongest moral backbones in all of Star Wars, except sometimes when it comes to her and he'll make exceptions? <3

Also, in general I am a huge sucker for the unstoppable force meets immovable object trope.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I think the only unpopular opinion I have (at least according to all the fic I read) is that Jag wouldn't ever call her Goddess again after that psyop is complete, because Jaina didn't like being a goddess.

Trans Girl Ben Skykhai AU

I think Ben's been on HRT for a year and a half by FotJ. Like, since not too long after LotF. She's made a lot of progress - she has nice curves and breasts and long hair - and she's out to her family, but she's still closeted to the galaxy at large.

When they find Vestara on Dathomir, Ves can pick up on the female mannerisms that Ben unconsciously makes, even though Ben mostly looks like a boy in the baggy clothes she still wears, and Vestara has no idea what to make of it because I can't really picture the Sith going out of their way to teach this.

So she's into Ben, but she's not actually sure that Ben's a boy, so she has a crisis about the idea that maybe she's fallen for a girl. She has to hide it from Gavar whenever he asks her about Ben.

Ben has a hell of a time trying to distinguish between romantic attraction and gender envy about Vestara. It turns out to be both.

It's not until Nam Chorios that Ben comes out to Vestara. Ben uses Ship being male as an example to help explain gender identity.

Ben comes out to the galaxy on the last day before they finish the move to Shedu Maad. It's kind of overshadowed by the shock of the Jaina/Jag/Zekk marriage reveal.

Vestara redeems herself, but eventually it's just accepted that proper Jedi modesty is not an idea these two girls can be convinced to care about. They're both really hot and they know it and they love it.

It doesn't even have a name.

Jaina was never going to tell the Council that her cover was blown. Her last dispatch to the Council had ended with her getting lectured on becoming too friendly with people on Hatim. The argument that she couldn’t get information without getting closer to people swayed her uncle...and no one else. Even Aunt Mara thought she was being risky. Imagine if they found out Jag was here too.

As for Jag…she didn’t know what to do about him. Well, she knew one thing. She still needed to apologize. She’d wanted to apologize earlier, up on the roof, but that’d gotten interrupted. No, not interrupted. My stupid pride got in the way.

As she got closer to her shop she started paying closer attention to her surroundings, looking for danger. It was just before midnight, but most of the shops and food stalls had been closing up early since the fight, and unfortunately, her favorite indeterminate-meat-on-a-stick stall was one of them. She resigned herself to making instant noodles at her shop again. There were fewer people than normal out, and those that were out were hurrying along, frightened of the shadows. None seemed like they intended to hurt anyone.

Jaina headed one block past the street her shop was on, and paused outside the building directly across from her shop. She reached out through the Force, looking for a threat. She found one, a person up on the rooftop, simmering with rage. Unfortunately she found a second person up on the rooftop. A familiar one. Dammit, Jag. She tried the door to the building, but it was locked. Instead she found some gutters that ran down to the ground from the roof, and she started using them to climb up.

As she swung herself off the gutter and onto the roof she heard a short scuffle, followed by a thud. She saw Jag kneeling next to whoever he had just taken out, and Jaina let out a relieved sigh. “Are you alright?”

Jag nodded and stood up. “I’m fine, but he’s unconscious.�� He gingerly rubbed his right hand. “He hit his head hard on the way down.”

Jaina knelt down next to the would-be assassin and searched for his pulse. It was slow but steady. He’d be ok. She leaned back and got a better look at him. He was young, and dumb enough to still be in his uniform. His patches said he was a Lieutenant Hanif. An angry red welt was beginning to form from his eyebrow to his cheek, and from the way the Lieutenant was laying, it didn’t look like he’d hit his face on the rooftop. Jaina looked at Jag suspiciously. “You sure he didn’t hit his face on your fist?”

Jag stood there impassively for a moment, then his facade cracked and he had the decency to look a little embarrassed. “I shouldn’t have, but it was satisfying.”

9. did you have muse you tried to play, but ended up dropping for various reasons? (the rpc wasn’t active, you lost interest, etc)

i don't like saying i've dropped things ever, you know me, but probably one of the ones people do just know is erik lehn.sherr. i started writing them for a friend and tbh, while i really enjoy his character, the rpc around him is often... questionable. i've known some very good writers of him, but he's one of those characters that people perceive in a certain way a lot and considering the content matter behind him and how much i know about it, it is just too uncomfortable to deal with. not the subject matter, but rather how people view him in relation to it.

19. do you have ship bias?

correct me if i am wrong but i thinkkkkkk that means you prefer threads with ships you have over non ship threads? if that is true, than no, i don't. like sometimes, i'm in a shippy mood and might do any replies i have in that vein first but it's rare and in general, it's just whatever order i decided was how i was going to tackle the insanity of my drafts. i actually get super annoyed when i see other people consistently prioritize ships threads over everything else (no hate there, but often these same people tell me they really want to write with me and yet.... never respond to anything because of said ship threads), so i try not to do the same to others.

if it just means you prefer certain ships, uh, yes, i do. i certainly harp on jag and jaina often enough to make my preferences obvious. (but lbh any time i get a ship i love it as much as my 'otp' for a muse so maybe not then?)

29. what are your honest thought about your muse’s canon?

i honestly know a lot of places where i would have done things a little differently, but in general? i like it. a lot of people seem to find her boring and never given enough air to develop. and while i agree she should've received more time on page (which is partly why i'm so said her trilogy never made it past planning), i think what there is was more than enough to give us things to parse out and play with, let alone make her interesting. she was, after all, the first star wars character to truly capture my heart, body, and soul. not leia or padme or any of the guys. her... even back then i needed some substance to be hooked and i think she definitely stands up to the test.
