"He works in a coffee shop." Haru smiled as she took a big bite of her strawberry shortcake. It was appreciation day again and she and Kyoko were having their monthly meet up to enjoy whatever cakes they wanted. The girls were hard working and deserved to splurge once in a while anyway, they were so busy usually they'd burn it all off in a matter of days.

"Sounds dreamy. Did you get his name?" Kyoko wondered who Haru's mystery man could possibly be.

Haru nodded and as the two chatted away and made their plans to introduce Kyoko to the mystery man, said mystery man prepared to go to work.

Mukuro loved sweets as well as he loved coffee. Becoming a barista was a path carved out for him. He might have fallen for a girl from Midori, but the Kokuyo school wasn't too far away and when Haru wasn't busy she would often stop in for coffee. She became a regular that he fell in love with.

However when he went on his break, he almost cried as he bit into the hand made confection. It was pineapple flavored. Mukuro hated pineapple. But perhaps if he and Haru got to know each other a little better, he could tell her that one day when they were closer. For now though, he'd settle for making her coffee and talking to her on his breaks.

Best Sci-fi spaceship?

Ouch, there's a question with a lot of potential answers!

It might be a weird starting point, but for most of my childhood the sole window into sci fi was Lego, and their original Space themes have made a lasting impression. Nostalgia/childhood yearning demand 6986 take the top spot, and I still like it a lot now I own one (or four) but 6973 probably steals it because I love its style. Plus first female coded minifig in space!

Then came Doctor Who, specifically the Target novelisations. If the TARDIS counts at all then it's kind of the winner of "best" spaceship by default, given that it can go not just anywhere but also anywhen with (depending on source) capacity to put most cargo ships to shame, the ability to make all passengers understand any language, a field preventing hostile actions on board, and a pool.

Trek and Wars never really produced any stand outs to me - not to say their ships are universally bad, I like the utilitarian bulk of a Star Destroyer fine but it doesn't rock my world. Besides if we're going grim industrial realism I'd err towards something like the Cygnus from Black Hole or the Valley Forge from Silent Running.

Hell, down that way we get to the The Expanse, and while I love the Tachi/Rocinante my heart belongs to the Navou/Behemoth/Medina as much for the fascinating journey of it being altered to serve different functions, all of them with a foot well and truly planted in the science part of sci fi. It's certainly one of the ships with the best story.

The Normandy from Mass Effect is cool, the RLS Legacy from Treause Planet gets style points if nothing else. Lexx from Lexx and Moya from Farscape are interesting for playing with the idea of organic spaceships. Space Battleship Yamato is an interesting concept too.I loved the Whitestars from Babylon 5, and the Excalibur from the Crusade spin-off series.

Ugh. I feel like there are so many that are not even being taken into consideration because they're not springing to mind. Certainly right now my inclination is to give it to the Navou just because of how damn well it's woven into the narrative of its series.
