Heyo everyone! This was one of two fics I wrote for the AU Exchange, written for @the-midnight-post (who has excellent taste, by the way)!

While I was working on my original assignment, I noticed a request for MM Chrom/Robin! You see, that ship is a bit special to me.

Long story short, I wasn't much of a shipper at first. Sure, I was fine going along with whatever was presented to me, but I never really cared much for shipping. And then, FE Awakening and MM Chrobin crashed into my life and I was caught up in everything! It inspired me to actually look more seriously at fandom and fanworks in general. This ship was one of the first dominoes, leading to where I am today!

And technically you can only marry him if you play as female Robin but their dynamic is still just as romantic if you play as male Robin (they literally call each other their other half and m!Robin and Chrom have a valentine's day duo unit in the gatcha, and in the anthology manga m!Robin asks Chrom to make polygamy legal so he can also marry Chrom's wife and they can be a family) so most people play the game with the gay mod so they can still marry him as a guy. He's incredibly stupid ("yeah, let's set all our ships on fire then walk through a volcano, you're so smart, Robin" "I know you've had prophetic visions about killing me and our daughter came from the future to warn us it would happen but I'm sure THIS TIME it won't because of the power of our bonds") but also really sweet. In the summer DLC they're fighting on a beach and when he sees Robin get excited over a weird creature they found he immediately forgets about the battle and starts trying to make a bunch of crafts (and failing) and cooking food (and failing again) and writing "Chrom and Robin were here" in the sand so that Robin could have some nice beach memories. I'm obsessed with this man”

The true fire emblem awaking ship is Chrom x Robin regardless of Robin’s gender. Like I don’t care if Chrom and Sumia are the default pairing. Chrom and Robin in every other appearance outside of Fire emblem awakening are basically a married couple. In engaged their interactions with Lucina is basically her with her two dads. Chrom and fem Robin’s events are also goofy as hell, and the scenes that happen if they’re married are the cutest thing. They acknowledge that the two are married in most cut scenes.

The fire emblem fandom believe itself to be open and LGBT friendly but it's not.

There's this type of people who dismiss gay ship like Chrom x M!Robin or Marianne x Hilda by saying they're just friends or like siblings and despite always saying that for gay ship and never for straight ship, they keep maintaining that there's no homophobia at play... Once had one of the very same person with such stance, defended by the other too, ask me in DM if I was raped as a kid because I'm gay.

There's this slightly popular artist who portray lesbian as predatory all the time, who get into argument to say Shamir is straight and who immediately changed his OC design once someone pointed out they had the color of the bi flag with not even the slighest pushback.

There's all those M!Edeleth fan who act like it's a great injustice that the gay version is more popular. I saw them getting confronted, one them went on rant about modern feminism and one of them that was a mod banned one of the comment for being "scathing to straight guy".

There's all those conservative twitter user with the vatican flag in their name and a fire emblem pfp which stance I don't think I need to describe.

There was this harassment campaign towards a F!Edeleth fic on Tumblr and AO3.

There was pushback against a M!Dimileth fanzine because it didn't include F!Dimileth.

This is only a bunch of personal experience, but this type of stuff is common in the fandom and it's genuinely sad. I didn't mention other relating to aphobia or transphobia because it's already a long ask, but those are just as present, why does it have to be like that?

So... the reveals for the Rare Male Slash Exchange (RMSE) finally happened today, so here I am sharing the three fics I wrote for it!

All three fics are in my Masterpost and my Mizuka's Odyssey series!

So... I wrote for Dracula, Fire Emblem Awakening, and Persona 3! [links go to AO3 - all three fics are rated M and have 1000 words]

This fic is particularly special, because this Awakening was the first fandom that I jumped into, and Chrom/Robin and Frederick/Robin were my first slash ships ever - about 10 years ago! In addition, the first fandom I ever wrote for was Fire Emblem Three Houses, so that was writing for a different Fire Emblem entry was pretty cool!

I was about to make a silly post about how making a character gay instantly makes them more interesting and the ships better and then I realized that is clearly not my actual position. Because het!Chrobin is better than gay (mlm) Chrobin in my opinion. “Oh ok it’s probably just that making the ship femslash makes it better.” But a hypothetical femslash Chrobin… isn’t that much more interesting. In that Chrom being a woman… I think he would be more interesting but not a whole ton more interesting, you know? It would add an extra layer to Chrobin’s slow crawl towards being the basically canon ship if Sumia is genderbent to make chrom x Sumia straight though. But femslash chrobin where both Chrom and Emmeryn are genderbent? That would make it even better because now Chrom has the added spice of being the second ruler of a generation and being a woman. Like Yllise seems more egalitarian and it’s just the oldest child is first in line regardless of gender but. You know.

Male Robin x Female Chrom without Emmett’s gender bend is the most boring possible combination. Like yeah you just put the leading man and woman together. Plus I think Female Robin is a more interesting character than male Robin? That is insane to say considering they are both player inserts and don’t change personalities with the swap but robin’s story is more interesting if she is a woman. She’s the reincarnation of a god referred to as a male, a pawn for the predominantly male leaders of the Grimleal to use as a tool. While we don’t know Robin’s mother perspective, we do know she married Validar, who she was related to, and then ran away with the baby, presumably to protect them from their fate. But wouldn’t there be extra spice if there was also the element of a woman, born and raised to be the mother of the next try at birthing the perfect vessel for Grima, looking at her daughter and deciding she can’t let her daughter face that life and running off with the baby?

anyways after pondering all that I realized that it’s really just about writing strong female characters and that misogyny really adds something to a character. (EDIT: when used as a backdrop to explain why they are like that. When you can tell the author hates her it’s bad) With a female character I like enough im pretty much down for a heterosexual pairing if there aren’t any good gay options I like better (ex: apothecary diaries).

edit: one undeniable advantage of genderbending chrom would be that female robin would be more common in spin offs and other games they are in the same way male robin is currently. So that they can pretend they arent implying a ship. This would be a win since female Robin is better.

Not sure if these are tropes, but yandere lover (just not a very big fan of yandere), obsessive love (treating their partner as a possession), misogynistic attitudes or abusive power in a relationship (basically a partner defining what their partner, whether it be a woman or man, should do or behave, and the victimized partner finds it hot???)

3. Gradual mutual understanding for one another! I also learn more about the characters' personalities this way!

I'm not against the concept of femininity in males, but when used in a stereotypical fashion, it rubs me the wrong way. Just a subtle depiction of their relationship dynamic is perfect to me! I'm alright with seeing SFW artwork of the reverse and reading said fics, but NSFW is where I draw the line

15. As someone that made OC fan kids in the past, yes that is totally fine and I love seeing other people's interpretations for the same pair (if they don't have canon children). I've even made some for ferdibert before but I never fully flushed them out lol
