When Shinichi wakes up, screaming in fright and calling her name, Shiho is always there to remind him she's safe, to remind him that she's there. She never lets him feel as lonely as he was after becoming Conan.

3. One emotional aspect of a ship that always gets you

Not sure how to put it in words ghfhfjfjfjf like. When they understand each other in a unique way??? (Am I saying Shinichi and Shiho being the only ones—Mary doesn't count—going through having to fake being kids while they're in mortal danger makes their bind unique and beautiful? Yes yes I am) So like, I love when they have similar circumstances BUT are still pretty different. (I've mentioned Conan and Ai, I could go on about Matt and Natasha!! Matt and Elektra, too. Matt and Frank have very different pasts and motivations for their vigilantism but still somehow fit, if that makes sense!)

16. One thing one character likes about their partner(s).

Claire loves Matt's determination to save and help people 🥺 could probably do without all the guilt and lack of self preservation, but no one's perfect Ig

Matt also loves Claire's dedication to saving people, probably thinks she's so much better than him since she heals while he hurts and ghhhh I can't

Foggy, hoping Claire can force some preservation instinct into his bestfriend lol and also really liking that she saved Matt's life.

An escape room, with Shiho acting very annoyed and bored at first but then getting invested in the mystery and finding hints while Shinichi smirks not-so-subtly bc he was right (also they have to solve it faster than Hattori did)

Shinichi is very blue, Shiho gives me red/orange vibes. 👀

Do you like reading fanfictions? And do you like non-canon ships, like characters that have together really good dynamics together?

Like, Conan fanfiction? Or just fanfiction in general?

Conan fanfiction I don’t read. 

I read my fair share of them when I was younger and was just discovering the fanfiction world and very early on realized that the Conan fanfics were not my thing. Most of the ones I read weren’t in-character, made Shinichi a sort of weird version of himself that I wasn’t comfortable with, and the fact that most of them were in English really screwed with my head cause I wasn’t used to the characters speaking like that. So I backed out.

I’ve got nothing against Conan fanfiction. I encourage it, actually! Go and write your stuff!! I’m sure a lot of them are super great cause people out there are really fucking talented. And I think we’ve all written fanfic of some kind at some point or another and that’s what got us into writing --I know that happened for me. So I’m always 100% in favor of it being written. I just don’t read it. 

And then, do you mean if I like non-canon ships in fanfiction or just in general? And what do you mean by non-canon ships? If it’s stuff like HeiShin or KaiShin or like KaiRan or whatever it’s called, or ShinShiho, the answer is most definitely not, in any context. If you mean non-canon ships like Asuza and Amuro, then possibly yes but it would depend on the ship.

2. List 3 shipping tropes you don’t love

I don't really reason in tropes, so questions like this always get me thinking xD, but let's see!

– I don't love the "X never loved anyone before/like this" trope, especially if X has had important relationships in canon (like... a dead wife). Having loved already doesn't take anything out of a relationship (if anything, I think it's pretty brave to go and love again).

– I kinda hate misunderstandings, when a single sentence could easily fix everything but nooo the misunderstanding goes on and on forever

– Jealousy tropes are pretty annoying

12. List 3 ships you currently love

Matt/Natasha is currently my favourite ship 🧡 I also love Matt/Claire (multishipping is the way) and, uhm. I really don't ship a lot lately 👀

ShinShiho is a ship that goes back to my first days of fanfics (even further back actually), but I still love them, this year I even got to see the ShinShiho movie (no other possible description for Detective Conan's 26th movie. Yes I know ShinRan is canon.)

We're talking about canon again, maybe for the last time, maybe not ~

From 0 to 100 , how much do you consider HeiShin as canon? Do you think there actually is something or is it all fanmade?

Personally, I would give it a 25-30.

It's obvious and never questioned that Shinichi is fully in love with Ran. It hurts me, but it's 101% canon

But, in my opinion, Heiji does have stronger feelings for Shinichi than just friendship. Yes, he also has a crush on Kazuha, but it's not as deep and serious as Shinichi's.

The same loving eyes Conan has for Ran, the same gleam in his eyes each time they mention him... Heiji has it.

I think, even in canon verse, Heiji is, at least unconsciously, in love with Shinichi. Or at least, he has very deep feelings that go beyond friendship.

Gosho himself jokes with it sometimes, and I think it really means something in a series that is obviously heteronormative.

So, that makes it a 25-30% of canon-ess for me, the same percent ShinShiho/ConanAi has.

What about you? Do you think there can be really something, or are we just imagining it in the end? ( Don't think of that as a bad thing, you can always ship it even if you think it's 0% possible in canon! )

I just ended vol 18 and it was a crazy ride. Ai will always be my second favorite character in this show. She's just... brilliant.

And her looks, those sad looks she has... I love them.

I always knew there was no hope for Heishin to get canon, but I always had hopes for ShinShiho. She would be perfect for him.

But... apparently they have no chances too.

Also, everything about Akemi and Ai's relationship makes me incredibly sad yet so amazed. Gosho really / DOES / know how to write human emotions. (He just can't put them in the base ships.)

Waaaaah, why does it always turn out to be about shipping?! I really LOVE all the B.O stuff in this volume!

Gin, for example! His eyes always terrify me. And somehow even Vodka looks terrifying, despite his ( let's admit it ) clumsy look. I am also very curious about the APTX files and where the fuck did those discs go.

Anyway, a better, deeper reflexion on all the arc is coming tomorrow with vol 19! Stay tuned!

Just want to explain the reason of all those D before someone will say bad words to me. If I ship a couple, I don’t like all the other couples where one of the two in the couple is involved. For example, I ship ShinRan, so I don’t like ShinShiho, CoAi, Heishin, Sonoko x Ran, Sera x Ran etc. It’s my personal point of view, I don’t obligate nobody to think the same of course. Plus, I don’t like in general yaoi and yuri (not because I’m homophobic, just because I don’t like it like I don’t like spicy food or whatever. It’s a matter of tastes in ships and manga, nothing more). By the way, all the respect to people who ship these couples! Also, I really like the friendship between Conan and Ai and between Sonoko and Ran (and even Masumi when she’s with them), but I don’t ship them.
