OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! 😭🥺💖 There are absolutely no words to express how utterly amazing this art is and no words to tell you how grateful we are for it! Honestly we're both in tears right now in the best way! Sprinkles literally screamed and jumped up & down, and I am at loss for words for probably the first time ever and can only think of feral keyboard smashes ASHDHSDHSADHASHFHSFHFHSDFHSHFASHFHAHDHSD!!!!
It means so much to us that you love our little story and our ocs so much that you wanted to draw them! 🥺 You're such an incredibly talented artist, and you've perfectly captured the personalities of everyone in this group! Kyle's lopsided smile and his arm around Hero. Lorraine's playful peace sign, and Tamra's gentle hand on her shoulder. Brandi crossing her arms. C.J. easy-going and his hands in the pocket of his hoodie. Zoey holding onto Hero's arm, and the man himself, our dear Hero, looking so emotionally moved and so happy to be with his friends. It's all just so, so perfect and wonderful!!
We absolutely adore the outfits that you've chosen for them too (Direct quote from Sprinkles: "They would all totally wear those clothes!!!" And then we proceeded with the excited screaming & crying again). The attention to detail here is just mind blowing (honestly going to start bawling over the lacy sleeves on Lorraine's blouse, Kyle's jacket, C.J.'s hoodie, and Tamra's music note hair pin and earrings along with so many other things!! The way you've drawn Zoey's freckles is adorable and also deserves to be mentioned!!)
The longer we stare at this absolutely gorgeous piece, we just keep finding more and more things to love about it, and the fact that you've paired it with such a beautiful line from "Good Morning" means everything. 🥺 It really sums up what "When Sun Shines Again" is really all about: Hero finding healing, opening himself up to new friendships and new horizons, gathering the strength to carry on, and learning to be happy again even in a world without Mari. His life will never be the same as it was before he lost her, but that doesn't mean that it can't still be a meaningful and happy one. Hero deserves that. He deserves to be happy. 💙
And this "When Sun Shines Again" project is but our small contribution to the "Hero deserves to be happy" genre. It means the world to us to know that other people connect with this story, with our portrayal of Hero and the other OMORI characters, and with our original characters as well (which is especially flattering! Thank you so, so much!). Honestly, I am truly so flattered, honored, and just overwhelmed with gratitude for this art that I'm really not sure what else I can possibly say besides thank you so, so much for such an incredible gift and for bringing this world and these characters that are so dear to me to life in such a gorgeous art piece. I know I speak for both Sprinkles and myself when I say that this beautiful work will be treasured always. 💕
Thank you also so much for supporting us and our story! You are truly wonderful, @shine-n-bright, and so kind and so generous! We wish you all the best and wish you every joy that life has to offer! 💖 Please keep up the amazing work and please don't ever hesitate to stop by our blog or ask box anytime (especially if you'd like to talk about Hero and/or "When Sun Shines Again).
Cheers & much love to you, friend, and thank you so much again for everything! Take care!! 💙

__________________________________________________________
The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm, golden hue over the bustling city of Seoul. It was a rare day off for TWICE, the K-pop sensation that had taken the world by storm. But even on their days off, there were responsibilities to be met, and today was no different.
Y/N, the youngest member of the group and still a minor, had been left in the care of Kwon Eunbi, a former member of IZ*ONE and a close friend of the TWICE members. Eunbi adored Y/N like a little sister, and she had eagerly agreed to look after the young idol for the day while the rest of TWICE attended various appointments and meetings.
Eunbi arrived at the luxurious apartment building where Y/N lived with her older sisters, her heart fluttering with excitement. She had planned a day full of fun activities to keep the young idol entertained. As she stepped into the lobby, she was greeted by Y/N, who was dressed in comfortable loungewear and had a bright smile on her face.
Y/N - Eunbi unnie!
Y/N yelled as she rushed over to hug Eunbi.
Y/N - I'm so glad you're here!
Eunbi returned the hug warmly, her heart melting at the younger girl's enthusiasm.
Eunbi - I'm happy to be here, baby. We're going to have so much fun today!
TWICE's honey nodded eagerly, her eyes shining with anticipation.
Y/N - What are we going to do first, unnie?
Eunbi pulled out a list of activities she had prepared.
Eunbi - Well, first, we're going to start with some arts and crafts. How does that sound, love?
Y/N's eyes lit up.
Y/N - That sounds amazing, unnie!
They spent the morning crafting together, making colourful friendship bracelets, painting pictures, and laughing as they got paint on their hands and faces. Eunbi was amazed at her dongsang's creativity and artistic talent. She marvelled at how such a young idol could be so mature and talented.
After finishing their arts and crafts, they moved on to baking cookies. TWICE's cutie pie insisted on decorating them with beautiful icing and sprinkles, creating a delicious mess in the kitchen. Eunbi couldn't help but laugh at the youngest's enthusiasm and the way her face lit up with every successful batch of cookies.
As the day wore on, Eunbi took Y/N to a nearby park, where they played on the swings, had a picnic, and ran around like carefree children. Eunbi couldn't help but be amazed at Y/N's boundless energy and joy. She was a reminder of the simple pleasures in life that Eunbi sometimes forgot in her busy idol schedule.
As the sun began to set, they returned to TWICE's dorm. Eunbi had one more surprise in store for the young idol. She had set up a cosy blanket fort in the living room, complete with fairy lights and fluffy pillows. Y/N's eyes widened in awe as she stepped inside.
Y/N - Wow, unnie! This is incredible!
Eunbi - I thought you might like it, hon. Now, what do you say we watch a movie and have a little snack? *smiling*
Y/N nodded enthusiastically, and they settled down in the blanket fort with a bowl of popcorn and a stack of DVDs. They chose a heartwarming animated film and snuggled under the blankets, their laughter filling the room as they watched the movie together.
As the movie neared its end, Y/N turned to Eunbi with a shy smile.
Y/N - Unnie, can I ask you something?
Eunbi turned to her, curious.
Eunbi - Of course, darling. What is it?
TWICE's lovebug hesitated for a moment before speaking softly.
Y/N - Can we... cuddle?
Eunbi's heart melted at the girl's request. She had always seen her as a little sister, but in that moment, she realized just how much the young idol looked up to her and trusted her. Without hesitation, Eunbi wrapped her arms around Y/N and pulled her close, cuddling with her under the soft blankets.
Y/N let out a contented sigh and snuggled closer to Eunbi, resting her head on Eunbi's chest.
Y/N - Thank you, unnie. I really love you.
Tears pricked at the corners of Eunbi's eyes as she held her little sister close.
Eunbi - I love you too, sweet girl. You mean the world to me.
They stayed like that for a while, watching the stars through the window as the night grew darker. Eunbi couldn't have asked for a more perfect day with Y/N. She cherished these moments when they could just be themselves, away from the glitz and glamour of the idol world.
Eventually, Y/N's eyelids grew heavy, and she yawned. Eunbi gently tucked her in, making sure she was warm and comfortable.
Eunbi - Goodnight, angel. *whispering*
Y/N - Goodnight, unnie *murmuring since she's already drifting off to sleep*
Eunbi watched over Y/N for a while, her heart full of love and gratitude. She knew that being an idol could be challenging, but moments like these made it all worthwhile. She was determined to be the best unnie she could be for Y/N and all the other members of TWICE.
As Eunbi settled down to sleep herself, she couldn't help but smile, feeling truly blessed to have Y/N in her life. It was a day she would cherish forever, a day filled with love, laughter, and the sweetest cuddles from the youngest member of TWICE. And this made her have only one thought:
We all love our dear maknae.
A/N: I'm sorry for any errors, English is not my first language. Pls, let me know if there's something wrong, ty for reading <3

Waiting in the Wings
***Happy Birthday Week Luke! This is a fluffy one. I don't get to write Simeon and Luke often, so this was interesting to sort of experiment with. I hope you guys enjoy! *** Summary: A talent show is being held at RAD; knowing the vocal talents of a certain young angel, you encourage Luke to join. Only Luke doesn't seem too fond of the idea. Together, you and Simeon do your best to give Luke the courage to shine.
The doors to Purgatory Hall slammed open as you raced inside with a blue flyer clenched in your hand. You rushed into the kitchen where you knew you would find your target. Luke, as expected, stood there is a light blue apron, whisking some kind of batter in a bowl. You excitedly waved the flyer in Luke's face. "Did you see this?! There's going to be a talent show?"
Luke squeaked at your sudden appearance and almost dropped the bowl. He took a moment to set it on the counter and grumbled something under his breath before taking the paper from your hands. You watched eagerly as his eyes scanned the page. He gasped and looked up at you in excitement. "RAD is hosting a talent show?! That's so cool! I wonder if Simeon's going to enter? He could probably read a poem he wrote, or act out one of his monologues," a tender look of admiration spilled into Luke's expression as he looked at the flyer. He shook his head and looked over at you. "What about you MC? Are you entering?" You chuckled and shook your head. "No. It's not really my thing. But I know someone with an incredible voice that would blow the rest of the competition out of the water!"
You thought that your words made it quite obvious that you were talking about Luke. You had first heard him sing months ago when Asmodeus dragged you to a tea party that he had been invited to by Simeon and Luke had performed for the three of you and Barbatos. His voice was truly the work of angels and was unlike anything you had ever heard before. It was remarkable to think that such a large talent could fit inside his small body.
Evidently, you weren't obvious enough.
Luke's eyes got even wider and he bounced slightly in excitement. "That's amazing! Who is it? You should definitely get them to enter! I'd love to hear them sing. Maybe they could teach me a couple of things." You smirked at his obliviousness and light-heartedly pushed the young angel. "Well, it'll be sort of hard for you to teach yourself what you already know."
Luke blinked at you several times, and you could practically see the math equations floating around his head. As he had his light bulb moment, his face paled and Luke quickly shook his head. "No! Absolutely not! I am not doing it!" "What aren't you doing?" The two of you whipped around to see Simeon watching the two of you in amusement. Your heart fluttered at the mere sight of him.
This, unfortunately, wasn't new. Although your feelings for Simeon weren't something that was apparent right away, they had grown more and more as you spent more time together. There was no denying the angel was handsome, however, there was so much more to him than that. He was intelligent and creative, able to outwit even some of the brothers with ease. He was incredibly compassionate and open-minded about the creatures in the Devildom. In one word, Simeon was bright. He radiated joy and peace where ever he went. You didn't know if it was an effect of being an angel or if it was who he truly was, but regardless, it was slowly but surely winning over your heart. You smiled at him and handed him the flyer. "I was telling Luke how I think that he should sing in the upcoming talent show." Simeon grinned widely at his charge, "Oh, that sounds like a wonderful idea! You have an incredible vo-"
"NO!" You both looked at Luke in shock. He didn't lash out often unless it was at one of the brothers. He most certainly never raised his voice at Simeon. Yet here he stood with his eyes screwed shut and hands balled into fists as they shook; whether they shook with anger or something else, you weren't sure. He scowled at both of you. "I'm not going to sing for a bunch of filthy demons on a stage in f-front of hundreds of students! Are you insane?" Simeon and you exchanged glances of concern. Simeon moved closer to his charge and placed a hand on his shoulder; like a parent trying to soothe their child. "Luke, if you really don't want to do it, that's okay. No one will force you. But I have to ask...Is the reason you don't want to perform because you have stage fright?" Luke blushed and looked away. "N-No! I don't have stage fright! I-I just don't want to waste my celestial talents on these demonic scum!"
He was clearly lying. Yes, he was upset, but behind that anger, you could see a small trace of sadness; as though his mind, which filled him with fear of the audience's judgement, and his heart, which yearned to sing for all to hear, were at war.
If the angel you had come to know as a brother wanted to perform, that god damn it, you were going to make sure he would be able to perform! "Well, what if I was there with you?" You asked in genuine curiosity. His head snapped up to look at you. "B-But you said it's not your thing?" You tried not to smile at his concern for you, and instead casually shrugged it off. "I could stand in the wings and be right there cheering you on. I could also help you practice and get ready; that way you feel more confident about it." Simeon nodded and patted Luke's hat. "You wouldn't be doing this alone. MC and I would be right by your side if this is something that interests you. I'm sure Barbatos would love to see you perform. MC and I would certainly enjoy it." Luke shifted from foot to foot as he thought about it. The room held its breath as you waited for his decision to be revealed. He glanced over at you nervously. "You'll be right there?" Your chest warmed as you were momentarily reminded of just how young Luke really is. You gently squeezed his shoulder and nodded. "I won't leave you for even a second." Luke let out a big breath before a gleam of determination filled his eyes and he balled his fists. "Okay! I'll do it! I'll sing at the show!" You smiled brightly in silent victory as Simeon laughed and hugged Luke. "Wonderful! Looks like the two of us have our work cut for us! When would you like to begin preparing?" "Now!" Luke took off out of the room, "I know the perfect song! I have the sheet music in my room! I'll be right back!" Simeon chuckled as Luke vanished from sight in a white and blue blur and looked over at you. There was a shimmer of fondness and affection in his eyes that caused your breath to catch in your throat.
"Thank you for talking him into this. He truly does enjoy singing, and I think he would've regretted it if he didn't join. He's very fond of you," Simeon's voice was as soft as the clouds that he had descended from. You scratched the back of your neck and awkwardly tried to brush off his thanks. "It's nothing. Luke means a lot to me too. He's like a little brother, you know?" If possible, his expression became even more tender as he looked deep into your eyes and gave you the most gentle smile. "Yes. I suppose I do."
The two of you sat in comfortable silence for a moment, before you noticed Simeon shift a little. You wouldn't quite say it was an action of discomfort but there was clearly something on his mind.
"Penny for your thoughts?" You asked with a reassuring smile.
Simeon, much to your surprise, blushed. "I was just thinking. I suppose with you aiding us, you'll be spending more time here at Purgatory Hall, will you not?"
You blinked a couple of times at the question. You supposed it was true. Within the next two weeks leading up to the talent show, you would probably be spending the majority of your time here with Luke, and as a result, with Simeon as well. You nodded in response to the question as you felt your own cheeks grow warm.
Simeon's twinkled as his expression lit up. "It will be lovely getting to spend more time with you. You-"
Before Simeon could say much more, Luke burst back into the room waving a stack of papers.
"S-So this is what I'm thinking. I have options, but I don't know which ones to choose!" He paused as he picked up on the obvious energy change in the room and frowned. "What's going on in here?" Simeon chuckled and leaned back against the kitchen counter. "Nothing at all. Now, you mentioned you had options?" Luke took the bait easily and began excitedly explaining each of his song selections. Throughout the next two weeks, you and Simeon worked together to help get Luke in tiptop shape to perform. You ran vocal scales with him as Simeon played the notes on the piano. You helped him memorize the lyrics, while Simeon aided him in getting the melody and key right. Using your influence with Diavolo and the brothers, you were even able to get him into the theatre that the show would be hosted at, and gave him the opportunity to practice on stage while in advance. During this time you found yourself growing closer and closer with Simeon. The two of you would exchange secret smiles with one another when you thought Luke wasn't looking. You found yourself more aware of his presence and his notable attention towards you. You would glance over at him, only to find he was already looking at you. Simeon would frequently put his hand on your shoulder or ruffle your hair. The actions always left you flustered, which simply made him smile even more.
Luke wasn't oblivious to the budding romance between the two of you. He noticed all too easily what was happening and instantly approved. After all, it was much better that you be courted by a gentleman such as Simeon than one of those fiendish brothers.
So he decided to do his part in aiding the matter. He often made up excuses in the middle of practice that would leave the two of you alone in a room. He always made sure you two sat down beside each other. Luke would come up with clever little things that "Simeon needed to do," just after practice ended and would always turn to you immediately after insisting that you help.
If either you or Simeon noticed what he was doing, neither of you mentioned it.
The two of you may have started this as a mission to help Luke feel comfortable on stage, but Luke quickly turned it into a mission to get his two favourite people together.
Time flew by, and before anyone could blink, the day of the show had finally arrived.
The theatre was elegantly decorated with red and gold streamers hanging on the balconies and bouquets of roses lining the aisles.
Backstage, dozens of performers anxiously fretted about, running over their talents one last time before their big moment in the spotlight. Simeon had performed a romantic monologue earlier in the evening. As he spoke, you couldn't help bet notice that his gaze would continuously fall onto you; something that made Luke beam with joy. Since then another handful of performers had gone up, Luke was next. The angel stood between you and Simeon in the wings, as he nervously twisted his hat in his hands. "I-I-I can't do this. I change my mind. I'm not gonna do it," he tried to turn and flee, but you quickly caught him.
"Woah, woah, woah. Easy there, Luke. You worked so hard on this. You can't just back out now!" Your heart broke as you felt just how badly the poor boy was shaking. You knelt down in front of him and placed your hands on his shoulders as you looked deeply into his eyes. "Luke, it's going to be okay. You've practiced day and night for this. You're going to blow the socks off of everyone out there. Simeon and I will be right here with you the entire performance."
Luke sniffed and wiped at his eyes. "Promise? You'll be here when I finish?" Simeon came up behind you and placed a hand on your back as he knelt down beside you. "We aren't going anywhere."
Luke smiled faintly at the sight of the two of you so close and nodded. "O-Okay. I suppose I can do it then."
You pulled Luke into a hug and held him tightly. "You've got this Luke. Go show them all what the Celestial realm is really made of!"
Luke hugged you back as his name was called out by the emcee. With a nervous smile, he put his hat back on and walked out onto the stage. You held your breath as he approached the mic. What if something went wrong? What if the mic didn't work? What if the audience was mean? A hand wrapped around your own and gave it a gentle squeeze. You looked over to see Simeon holding onto your hand. He grinned at you and brought your hand to his lips, delicately kissing your skin. "Have faith, MC. Everything is going to be fine." You weren't sure if it was the heat from the spotlights or the number of people in the room, but you felt like you were going to melt. You nodded and squeezed his hand in return as the music began. Just as expected, Luke was absolutely incredible. He sang with all the glory of the heavens. As his voice filled the theatre, you could've sworn that the lights shone just a little bit brighter. There wasn't a dry eye in sight; no one could deny the beauty in his talent.
Once he took his final bows, he practically sprinted back to the two of you where he was immediately scooped up into the arms of a proud Simeon. "That was incredible Luke! Truly a remarkable performance!"
Luke laughed and hugged his mentor back. "You guys were right! After I started singing, it wasn't scary at all! Thank you so much for helping me do this." You fondly ruffled Luke's hair and beamed at him. "All we did was give you the confidence to go out there. You did everything else yourself."
Luke's chest puffed out in some well-earned pride as he soaked in the praise from the two of you.
Simeon finally let him go and smiled down at him. "Now, what do you say we go celebrate? I have reservations for the three of us at Restaurante Six."
Luke's eyes widened, and you could practically see the scheming thoughts cycle through his brain. The young angel let out a dramatic yawn as he stretched. "You know performing really tired me out. I think I'll head home with Solomon. It'd be a shame for that reservation to go to waste though; you two should go together."
You blinked at Luke in shock, as a knowing smirk climbed onto Simeon's face. He turned to you with coy, yet loving, eyes and held out his hand. "Well, what do you say, MC? Care to accompany me to dinner this evening?"
You gaped at him for a second, as Luke watched the interaction in excitement. You stumbled upon your words for a second before finally getting them out. "I-I, um, yes! Yes. I would l-love that."
"YES!" The two of you quickly looked over at Luke as he jumped around in celebration. Seeing that he was caught, he froze before chuckling nervously and scratching the back of his neck. "I-I mean, bummer that I got join you two. Have a good night!" Just like that, Luke took off to go find Solomon.
You sighed and shook your head. "He's a trouble maker."
Simeon laughed and took your hand into his and he pulled you close to him. "Perhaps, but if the result of his mischief allows me to spend more time with you, then I, for one, am grateful," he kissed the top of your hands once more and offered out his arm to you. "Shall we?"
Your heart fluttered as you took his arm and allowed him to escort you out of the theatre and into what promised to be a memorable evening.
***This was a process for sure, but I think I'm happy with how it turned out! Thank you everyone for reading and supporting me and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SON, LUKE!!!!***

Notes Between Sleep and Awake - Alex Turner Imagine
Word Count: 2K
Synopsis: Reader wakes up and Alex isn’t in bed, they set off to find him.
A/n: This is pure fluff. I have a sweet tooth for sickeningly sweet fluff. I need it like I need air.
_______________________________________________________________________
Your mind slowly came to, drifting in between the realm of sleep and awake for some time before growing more aware of your surroundings. Tiredly, you stretched your tight limbs out, half expecting to hit Alex in the process. You frowned though, when you soon realized that his side of the bed was unoccupied and cold, the covers settled indicating that he probably hadn’t been there for some time.
Instinctively your fists rub over your eyes and you try to blink away the blur of sleep that lingered as you attempted to see the clock. 2:17 a.m blared in bright red numbers, and you sighed wondering where Alex was this late at night.
A shiver ran up your spine as you peeled yourself from under the covers and out of the bed. The room while normally tidy, was slightly disheveled from your earlier antics, clothing littering various surfaces. Thankfully one of Alex’s button ups was slung over the back of the chair adjacent to the bed. You grabbed it and tugged the soft fabric over your torso, buttoning it up only half way so that it hung loosely around you without slipping off.
There was still a bite to the air though, and the thin fabric wasn’t quite enough to keep you as warm as you’d like. So you opted to take the throw blanket from the end of the bed and throw it around your shoulders before setting out to find your missing boyfriend.
Carefully you managed to meander through the hallway, checking each room along the way, all completely dark. Once you reached the top of the staircase was when you could see a distant light shining through. Carefully you bunched up some of the excess fabric from the blanket and began to tiptoe down the stairs, willing yourself not to fall still in the haze of being half asleep.
At the bottom of the stairs you peered to the left and the right, trying to figure out where exactly that light was coming from. It wasn’t the living room, where you half expected to find him asleep on the couch with the tv still flickering - he did have the habit of taking a ‘nap’ and then not waking up to actually get in bed. But the couch was empty and you were stumped.
That’s when you heard the muffled sound of piano chords through a mostly closed door, and you finally knew exactly where Alex was. Your bare feet quietly carried you toward the back of the house, this time with a final destination - the music room as you affectionately called it. Hands clutched the blanket around you tightly, snuggling in further as you nestled yourself into the door frame.
Alex was sitting on the piano bench, hunched over slightly as he scribbled down something with a pen on a little pad you had stuck in there a few days ago. You admired how peacefully soft he looked, a few stray tendrils of hair fell in front of his face while he worked. His eyes were bright as his fingers moved back to the ivory keys, deft fingers pressing down and playing a few chord progressions before once again jotting them down.
You wished you could bottle these moments and savor them forever. Watching Alex completely in his element, alone with his thoughts and an instrument which was nearly a continuation of himself at this point, was your absolute favorite thing in the world. Some of your favorite musical elements have come from this very scenario and you were curious to see what would come next. “What’cha workin on?” You asked, clearing your throat as you spoke.
Alex’s attention quickly flittered over to you, spinning around from the piano with a concerned look pulling on his features. “Oh sorreh, did I wake yeh?” He inquired, his voice growing quiet as his expression softened.
“No, I woke up and you weren’t there so I thought I'd come see what you were up to so late at night. I should have known.” You smiled, quickly diminishing the gap between you.
Now hovering over Alex, you reached one hand out to thread through his hair, tenderly smoothing it down as you caressed the back of his head. Your expression was gentle and warm as you beamed down at him, locking loving gazes for more than a moment. “New song?” You hummed, leaning over to get a peek at his notes.
“Yeh, I was layin’ there an’ had the idea, wanted ta write it down while it were fresh.” He mumbled shyly, eyeing his notes once again. It was very much his style to come up with something on a whim in the middle of the night, or first thing in the morning. It wasn’t all that rare of a moment to find him fiddling around with an instrument late at night, perhaps softly humming a little tune.
He leaned back into you briefly, his back pressing up against your tummy while he glanced back at his notes. You hummed contently, reveling in the warmth he provided. “Can I hear?”
“’S not really ready, but for yeh, anythin’.” Alex patted the seat next to him, shifting over a little so that you could sit comfortably beside him. You happily obliged, stepping over and taking a seat. Your bare thigh brushed up against Alex’s as you lowered yourself down and a rosy blush spread across the apples of your cheeks.
Deft fingers began to play a little melody he had come up with, his voice incredibly quiet as he sang the words in hushed tones. You couldn’t have peeled your gaze from his lips even if you had wanted to, mesmerized by the way the words dripped past them so effortlessly, his voice ever rich. His talent never ceases to amaze you, but even more so at two in the morning when he was tired and in the haze of creativity.
“I think it’ll sound better when I play it on me guitar.” He rasped, nodding over the few guitars that littered the wall.
“I quite like the way it sounds now, but what don’t I like that you do?” You chuckled lightheartedly, allowing yourself to slump against him a bit, resting your head atop his shoulder. As you lay there, you could feel the way his chest vibrated with each hum and note he sang, effective in almost lulling you back off into sleep.
Alex continued to mess around on the keys for a while with you snuggled into his side. Every now and then he would peer over at you, admiring the way you succumb to the sleepy feeling that fell over you. “Babeh..” He cooed, his hand reaching down to rub tenderly across the top of your thigh. You stirred for a moment, still not fully aware that you had even fallen back asleep. “Babeh let’s get yeh back to bed.” He suggested with another nudge, this time his hand squeezing lightly to stir you awake.
“Mmmm...”You breathed in with another small stretch.
“C’mon.” He said, standing and pulling you up off the bench with him. Your limbs felt heavy when you stood, and for a moment you doubted if they would even be able to carry you all the way back up the stairs. “Alright...”
The two of you began the journey back to your shared bedroom, except that you had managed to start shuffling in the wrong direction once you were at the end of the hallway, heading back toward the living room. “Where yeh goin’ love?” He laughed, a suspicious eyebrow cocked in amusement.
Instead of answering, you responded with a dazed groan, not entirely sure yourself. Alex’s hands snaked around the back of your hips, allowing himself to steer you back in the correct direction, and fortunately for him you didn’t put up too much of a fight.
This continued on all the way up the stairs, much to your tired protests that you wouldn’t be able to make it. About halfway up you paused, blinking back at Alex, unable to will your body any further. “Alexxxx, I can’tttt...” You whined.
“’S that so? Wha’ would yeh like me to do ‘bout it?”
You didn’t really need to answer that question for Alex to know exactly what you wanted, he just wanted to hear you beg. He secretly found it adorable when you were tired and clingy, a bit stubborn. “You knowww..” You said with another pout.
“Hmmm, wha’s that?” He asked, feigning innocence, yet there was a sappy smile pulling at his lips.
“Please, carry me.” You blinked up at him shyly, too tired to even care just how pathetic this was. All you wanted was to be close to Alex, and who would blame you for that?
“Thank yeh, and of course.” He smiled, casually slinging you over his shoulder, not the way you had thought he was going to carry you. A sleepy, amused giggle left your lips as you settled against him, trying to prop yourself up against his back for support. “Alexxxx”
“Wha’ darling?” He responded, one of his hands giving the back of your thigh a playful squeeze.
“You are impossible.”
“Impossibly yours.” He noted, and your heart swelled. He was right, and that was all you could ever ask for. As long as it was you and him at the end of the day, that was all that mattered. Alex crossed back over into the bedroom and managed to flip you back over, easing you down onto the mattress before making quick work of his shirt, tossing it aside.
You contently watched him as he moved about the bedroom, plugging in his phone or walking over to grab a pair of sweatpants to pull on. He looked so incredibly beautiful in the dim light, the shadows accentuating his features in a way that made your stomach flutter. You continued to watch, confused as instead of crawling in on his side, he decided to round the corner over to yours. His hands flitted down to his shirt which was hanging around your torso loosely, biting his bottom lip slightly as his gaze flickered over you.
“Yeh are not goin’ to be needin’ this.” Alex spoke lowly, making work of the buttons util the fabric slipped down your shoulders, and he was able to tug it off of you. You felt the warmth creep over your skin, an unseen blush that he undoubtedly knew was there.
Instead of going back to his side of the bed, Alex managed to crawl over you, hovering over you for a moment. His hair tickled your face as he leaned in, planting a warm kiss first to your forehead, and then to your lips. He stayed there, admiring how you blinked up at him with a sappy sleepy look on your face. He could stay like this forever, forget about the rest of the world to just spend it with you.
Eventually he rolled over and tucked himself into his side of the bed, adjusting a few times before lifting the covers on your side to allow you to scoot in closer to him. “C’mere lovie.” He said, nodding toward his chest. Happily, you rolled over so that you were flush against his chest, face resting atop where his heart beat rhythmically. Naturally your legs entangled with one another’s, and his hand began to stroke over your head in a soothing pattern. You sighed happily, noting the warmth of your skin on his, he was always your little heater. It wasn’t long before you were all settled together, and the sleepy haze began to envelope you again.
“I love you.” You mumbled, not even sure if you had actually said it out loud or if you had thought it in your head.
“I love you most.” He smiled back, giving you a quick squeeze. “Now get some rest.”
Alex began to hum the little tune he had been singing earlier, effectively lulling you to sleep. He wouldn’t rest until he knew you were well asleep and safe, opting to card his fingers through your hair gently until he felt your breathing steady and a soft snore huff against his chest.

Right Person, Wrong Time | Huang Renjun
Pairing: Huang Renjun x Reader
Summary: Your high school sweetheart is back in town for one night only. He wants to get back together, but your heart is already taken...
Genre: Angst
Word count: 1.4k
Gif: @shuuvee
“Look, you better get off your arse and start serving some customers or I’m out, girl,” Irene laughs.
She pulls a puffer jacket over her ‘Bo’s Burger’s’ T-shirt. She’s your only friend – but not for long it seems. The icy December breeze rattles around the battered burger van.
“Alright, Irene, jeez…”
Just then, you peer out of the van’s window and freeze. Your hand smacks silently against your mouth. “Renjun,” you whisper.
“Who’s Renjun?” Irene says, raising one perfect brow at you.
“Come on, Rene! Drop dead gorgeous Renjun – my first and only love Renjun – stupid, perfect, left me to go back to bloody China Renjun!”
Just then, Renjun turns his head. “What am I supposed to do?” you whisper, shaking Irene’s wrists in desperation.
“Honestly, girl! Act natural for once.”
You don’t even have time to curse Irene for her useless advice. Renjun is already gazing expectantly up at you.
Your breath sticks in your throat.
This isn’t the schoolboy you loved. This is a young man, icy rose hair slicked back in the latest style. An athletic body hides under his snow-dusted Burberry coat.
“W-welcome to Bo’s burgers. May I take your order?” You choke out. Behind you, you hear Irene whisper, “I didn’t mean pretend not to know him natural!”
“Um… a regular burger, I guess?” Renjun smiles, and it’s so identical to your memory it’s like looking at your old photos again.
You can’t bring yourself to look away from his bright black eyes. Your hands mechanically prepare a burger beneath you.
“Here you… um… go!” You thrust the burger into his hands. Your fingers touch, and the frosty air blazes for a moment. “Um…thanks?” A smile is playing at his lips, and when you look down, you see why. You gasp.
Renjun is holding burger bread sandwiched between two patties, slathered in Nutella.
“Oh my god, sorry, what have I given you?”
Renjun just chuckles. “Look, um, Y/n, I’d be lying if I said I was just here for a burger…”
Your heart is in a one-person car chase. “What are you doing here, Renjun? Aren’t you meant to be in Shanghai?” you smile, shyly.
“Yeah… I’m in the city for a book signing. You look… incredible.” His voice is quiet.
“You too, uh, you dyed your hair!”
“Oh, right, I forgot I used to have it black…” Renjun pulls at a strand absentmindedly. You wonder how much else has changed.
Renjun leans forward, and you feel your heart accelerate. “I’m afraid I have a confession, Y/n. I came here to find you. I’m only here for a couple days… I don’t want to intrude on your life, but I’ve been dying to see you.”
He looks down. “I didn’t know if you… wanted to see me too.”
“Yes, of course I would want to see you!” You blurt out. “I… I’ve really missed you, Renjun.”
“Really? I’ve missed you too, Y/n! You know, there’s this character in my book, and she’s fierce and beautiful and she has all the guys after her, but she’s a million times too good for them – and I just realised… she’s you.”
Warmth shivers over your body. “That’s… amazing. Congratulations on your book, I mean…” You can’t meet his eyes. “I knew from your letters that you would grow up to be an author.” The memories shimmer like heat between you.
“Oh my god, you’re not talking about that awful line!” Renjun collapses into silent laughter.
“Yes! That’s it!” you chuckle. You say in unison, “You’re sucrose, you’re fructose, you’re glucose and more!”
You laugh till tears are streaming down your faces. “Okay, that was a literary low point, I’ll admit.” Renjun pauses. “But, I’m sure I could improve on it at dinner together.” His ebony eyes flit up to yours.
“Oh,” Your heart drops. “I can’t, Renjun. I can’t believe I have plans.”
Renjun’s eyes tighten. “Oh, that’s no problem. Ever holiday in Shanghai?” He chuckles mirthlessly.
“I work in a burger van, Renjun, what do you think?” You attempt a smile, but Renjun’s already turned away.
Just then, a hand grabs your shoulder. “What the hell are you doing?” Irene’s almond eyes shoot daggers. “What do you mean?” You respond. “I’ve got no choice - remember my boyfriend?”
“Forget about bloody Jaemin! And plus, it’s just dinner – not marriage.”
“I know, but-”
Irene sticks her head out of the van. “Hey, RENJUN! Y/n’s cancelled her plans! She’s coming in five minutes!”
“You’re sure Jaemin won’t mind?” you whisper.
“Look, he’ll understand. Renjun was your first love. And plus… it’s not like anything’s going to happen between you two!”
---
“Wow. Just wow. I can’t believe what I just saw,” you laugh. You and Renjun leave the blazing lights of the ice rink for a shady residential road.
“I’m amazing, right?” Renjun’s arm warms yours through your coat sleeve.
“Totally. I mean, figure skating team? Weren’t you studying literature?”
“I’m a man of many talents- hey, mind that.” You grip on tighter, narrowly dodging a huge puddle. A tingle shoots through you.
“God, you’re a gentleman. I miss the dork in high school who couldn’t tie his own shoelaces.” You shove Renjun playfully on the shoulder.
“Hey! That was a nerd you fell in love with. There’s a difference, you know!”
You laugh. “And what kind of person cares whether they’re a nerd or a dork? Anyway, I should probably get going now.” You start to unwind his soft red scarf.
“Right, well thanks for meeting up with me today.” Renjun half-smiles. ”You look phenomenal, by the way.”
Your heart warms. “Thank you. I mean, it was amazing to see you.”
“Right? So, um, bye.”
You lean in for a hug, but Renjun’s lips touch your cheek in a parting kiss. “Oops!” You say, reaching to kiss his other cheek.
But you don’t quite make it. Because his lips graze yours. And all of a sudden, he’s kissing you. You slip back into it without thinking, fireworks shooting through your belly as you tilt your head to kiss him back. His lips are even softer than you remember, so soft you almost forget the winter chill around you.
Then you feel his tongue slip hot into your mouth. And you freeze. You pull back, so suddenly that you stagger a little on the pavement. Renjun stretches his hand out to catch you, then stops mid-air.
“Sorry, we shouldn’t be…”
“No, no, it’s my fault.” Renjun looks away, shaking his head minutely.
“No it’s not! You don’t get it. I… have someone.”
“I know.”
You look up, forgetting yourself. “What?”
“I know you have a boyfriend. I heard you talking about it.” Renjun smooths his face with one hand. “It was so stupid. I don’t know what I was thinking. Why would you want to be with me?”
Goosebumps spread over your cheeks. “If this was any other time, Renjun…” Your voice feels stuck. “I… would.”
“But you can’t.” Renjun gives you a grim smile. “I… love you, Y/n.” He turns, and starts walking back to his hire car.
“Hey!” You call, suddenly desperate to see his almond eyes again. “I’ll text you?”
Renjun turns, and you see that his eyes are shining. “I think it’s best if we don’t… talk when I go back to China. You know, everything considered.”
“Right, right. No, that’s best.” You nod awkwardly.
Renjun turns away again, and inexplicably your heart is splitting. “Renjun! I…” you call, your voice fading into the black winter’s night.
“Don’t say it. It’ll only make things harder.” You hear a car door slam, and sigh. You look down and see his crimson scarf still in your fingers.
“I love you, Renjun,” you whisper.

my masterlist | event’s masterlist!!!!
You know how souls are connected? How soulmates are created from the stardust of the same explosion, traveling for millions of years through time and space just to end up meeting in the same coffee shop down the road over a spilled latte after living thousands of miles away for their entire lives? How oceans and mountains, galaxies and dimensions, hate and love tear them apart but this small string, thinner than a strand of hair, but stronger than an entire army brings them back together? How fate works?
Do you think snowflakes miss each other? Born from the same cloud, fluffy and blue, the interest of any curious child’s eyes and just the stretch of an arm away, almost like-
“The blue one, please!”
“Can I get the blue?”
The owner of the candy floss shop stared flabbergasted at the pair of you, hands stretched towards him with bills clutched in-between your fingers.
“I’m sorry but it seems like there is only one left and we’re out of blue colorant.”
At the newfound information, the boy beside you turned to you abruptly, cheeks flushed and determined shiny eyes.
“I believe I was here first, so I should be the one to get it.”
“Excuse me but you believe wrong, if anything, I asked for it first.”
You both scoffed in disbelief and carried on arguing as the owner watched with apologetic eyes while a line of equally impatient children accompanied by their parents whined for their own sweet treat.
“So therefore, as I have stated in my previous point of my thesis, I-”
“Move, we’ve been waiting here for 5 minutes already-”
Your new archnemesis turned to the kid behind him who dared interrupt his essay with burning eyes which might have just melted the frozen snot peeking from the child’s nostrils.
“Shut up, you bogey-eater garden dwarf! Learn how to respect your elders! You should- Hey!”
As you could tell the child’s mother’s eyes bulging out of their sockets and the choice of words directed towards her son, you quickly shoved the money in the owner’s hands, grabbed the stick of the blue candy floss with one hand, using the other one to drag the boy away from the commotion he himself caused before he lost an ear to the mom’s fury.
“Hey! Hey, you thief! How dare you-”
“Oh shut that trap for once, better thank me for dragging you away before that mother pulled a Van Gogh on you.”
He dusted himself off once you let go as if filth has touched him and you heavily debated just slamming the entire sticky candy on top of his head, but you decided against it. You worked to hard for it just to waste it on a head that didn’t even deserve it.
“This isn’t over, I still want that candy floss.”
“Let’s just share.”
He looked like he wanted to protest but he most likely couldn’t come with a better idea so he just sighed and shrugged dismissively. You both settled down on a bench on the side of the Christmas-decorated street and didn’t waste a second to dig into the cloud of sweetness.
“So... should I ask for the name of the person I fought tooth and bone for blue candy floss?”
“You want to go back and ask that kid? I’m not sure you’ll get out alive.”
You nudged his arm with your elbow and you both broke into smiles. He turned to look at you and you met his honey filled eyes, colorful lights dancing in them and it seemed like entire galaxies were celebrating the upcoming holiday too.
“Donghyuck. Friends call me Hyuck or Haechan. So you can call me Donghyuck.”
You deadpanned, but it only made him giggle louder. His nose was even more flushed than his cheeks and you couldn’t help but admire the way the rosy pink blended in with the natural tan of his skin. The corners of his eyes crinkled as he scrunched his nose mid laugh and you could understand why universes decided to reside in him.
“I hope you choke on candy floss.”
He only laughed harder and if Christmas was a laugh, it would have been Donghyuck’s, pure and hopeful.
“But what is my knight’s in shining armor’s name?”
“It’s Y/N. So you can’t call me. Ever.”
Despite your threatening tone, his smile didn’t lose its brightness. If anything, it shone brighter, lights and colors and happiness playing along his features and you couldn’t help but think that the moles on his face created constellations with the stars in his eyes. You saw art in what others saw as incident.
Donghyuck’s eyes widened as he stared at you, an exaggerated gasp leaving his lips before he exclaimed.
“A snowflake! It’s snowing! It’s snowing on Christmas Eve!”
“What? Where?”
“It’s on your nose!”
Your eyes crossed as you tried to catch sight of the small ounce of snow that settled on the tip of your nose. Donghyuck stared smugly as you turned accusingly and pointed a finger at him.
“You’re making fun of me!”
“I’m not! It really is-”
Before he could finish his sentence, you jumped in your seat.
“Donghyuck, one landed on your nose too! It’s there! It’s really snowing!”
And sure enough, one white traveller after another found their ways down in a whirlwind, waltzing on the last steps to their final destination in the eyes of thousands of admirers.
“Now we have matching snowflakes!”
Donghyuck laughed fondly at your excited tone, watching your enraptured eyes light up like a child’s and he thought that he might have found his Polaris. Right under his nose, he had found the brightest star in his sky.
“Yeah, do you think they were competing for candy floss too?”
“Maybe they confused it with their home. Don’t you think it resembles a cloud in this lighting? Maybe they thought they have found their way back home.” You pondered for a while, before grinning. “Mine won anyway.”
“Pffft, mine must have been confused by yours. How could you confuse candy floss for a cloud?”
You just shrugged, munching on the last bit of the sweet treat.
“Oh, Y/N, how much was it? Let me pay for my half.”
You thrust your phone in his directions, cheeks flushed less from the cold and more from the embarrassment of your next words. Donghyuck watched as you fidgeted in your place, his own expectant excitement building up inside of him as he accepted your phone gingerly.
“The cost is your phone number and a promise to share candy floss again. Only if you want to of course, don’t feel obligated to-”
“Let’s confuse snowflakes again, maybe it’ll snow again. My treat.”
You both smiled so largely your cheeks hurt the entire night.
~~~~
Your snowflakes decided to travel together on that fated day so you and Donghyuck decided to take their example. You stuck together and time didn’t seem to pass in the same way it used to. A year turned into a month, a month into a week, a week into a day and this day into a second. A second spent together. A second you cherished more than entire years. The second Donghyuck decided you put the moon and stars in the sky, or rather the single sparkly star on top of his Christmas tree.
“Stick that fucking star on that branch or I swear it’s either you’re taking a dive into the floor or my back will crack so loud your grandkids feel shivers down their own spine!”
“I’m obviously trying, Donghyuck! The branch is too thick, it won’t fit-”
“That’s what she said- oof!”
You made sure to dig your heel into his ribs hard enough to shut him up.
“Don’t you dare taint this holy evening with your bull!”
He grumbled under his breath but didn’t retort anything and struggled obediently to hold you up for long enough for you to put the finishing touch to his, no, both of yours’ Christmas tree: a silver, shining star.
“I told you it would be easier if we simply used a ladder, but nooo.”
“Where is the romance in that?”
“And where is the romance in me cracking your back and possibly falling on top of this tree?”
Your boyfriend groaned at your smart reply, tapping your thigh impatiently.
“Finally! You can put me down, the asshole has saddled up!”
“Never phrase it like that again please.”
After you were lowered, you both stepped back to admire the piece of art that stole- Donghyuck gasped softly once he took a look at the clock hung on the wall. Four hours?! How could that be possible, it only felt like... a second.
He turned to watch you instead of the overflowing tree, ornated in tinsel and lights. You glowed so much more than any view in this world in Donghyuck’s eyes. His Polaris indeed. No matter how lost he would ever be in life, tangled in his own mind, struggling against his own, one look at his brightest star and he’d find his way back to you through the darkest of nights. He deemed it only right for his guiding star to hang the star on top of your tree as if you hung it in a once starless night once he turned off the lights in the room.
Donghyuck thought that maybe he could live in an eternity in a single day with you.
“Ah, it snowed so much outside. It looks so fluffy, I have to!”
“What, no Y’N, wait!”
Before Donghyuck could even react, you sprung away from him, clumsily slipping on some shoes and running outside in only your sleepwear. Your boyfriend ran after you, gathering your jacket before joining you in the snow. He found you a few steps away from the entrance, crouched before a mound of fresh snow, digging your already reddening hands into it and spreading it around to form drawings and words. He sighed as he laid your jacket over your shoulders and crouched beside you.
“Don’t be so reckless, you’ll catch a cold like this.”
“Look who’s talking” you shot him a pointed look “where’s your own jacket if you’re so worried about colds?”
He spluttered for a moment, realising he forgot his own jacket in his rush to make sure you wouldn’t suffer too much because of the cold.
“I need no jacket. Jackets are for weaklings.”
You rolled your eyes, focusing back on the snow gathered in your hands.
“I feel bad for the snowflakes. They left their home, maybe they were even separated from their loved ones on the way down here. I bet they miss them. But they are trapped here once they landed. If only they would have the chance to fly for a little longer and search for them.”
You threw it in front of you, watching as it spread all around you, floating elegantly in a dance of their own before regaining their place on the spotless white dessert. Donghyuck watched you with curious eyes.
“I feel so bad for them I almost want to take them into my own home and care for them and love them-”
“But they’d melt.”
“Huh?”
“The snowflakes would melt. It’s not the right kind of home for them. Love isn’t always what they need, sometimes it consumes you little by little, it reduces you to nothing.”
“I’d rather melt into nothingness if it meant I felt even a second of pure love.”
‘That’s Y/N for you indeed’ Donghyuck could only shake his head as a small, content smile settled on his face. He scooped a little bit of snow into his cupped palms and brought it close to his lips. You shrieked.
“Don’t eat it! I get it, I won’t bring snow into the house!’“
He laughed so joyfully the shy moon cowered behind clouds at his beauty.
“I’m not planning on eating it, dumbass.”
“Then?”
“I’m wishing upon snowflakes?”
“Maybe we should head inside, maybe you have a fever.”
“Shut up, I’m not delusional. There are no dandelions during winter and snowflakes are our thing anyway, right? So let’s wish upon a snowflake instead of dandelions this time.”
He didn’t wait for you to react before he blew harshly into his palms, sending the small pile of snow flying out of his hands. Donghyuck could only think of a single thing while watching the swirl of the freed snow dancing in the dimly lit street in front of the house.
I wish for you to be my north star, to keep guiding me home to you.
~~~~
But sometimes it gets foggy. And sometimes you lose your way.
Donghyuck stared at his own reflection in the silver globe. He looked anything but Christmas-y. There was no twinkle in his eye, dull orbs gazing back at him almost condescendingly.
He’s always been a spitfire, a follower of his own fate that he made by his own hands. He swore to never let a flame touch, but promises are meant to be broken and his love, too burning hot, consumed you just like warmth consumed the snow. You slipped through his fingers just like snowflakes get separated in the harsh wind.
And Donghyuck was sure that if snowflakes could feel, they would be the most pitiful. A separation so sudden, so forceful, one that leaves you desperate to turn back time even for just a second. To watch them for longer. To hold on tighter.
‘Lee Donghyuck, you dumbass’
He sighs as he lowers the globe, putting it back into the box that would soon go into the basement where it resides for most of the year. One goodbye after another. Undecorating and storing away the once lively Christmas tree felt even more melancholic than usual, because while it meant a ‘see you later’ to the brightness of his house, he might have lost his chance at even saying a proper ‘please let me see you again’ to the brightness of his soul.
He looked up, catching sight of the lonely star sitting atop of the tree, the only decoration left. So far out of reach.
‘Feels so wrong to search for a stool for that after so long. Also feels wrong for me to be the one to take it off. I got too used to you.’
‘Too empty, where are your ridiculous decorations?’
‘Too blank, where are your rainbow vomit Christmas sweaters?’
‘ Too quiet, where are your late carols?’
‘...Where are you?’
Donghyuck had to shake himself out of his zoned out state, looking out the window at the lights still hung around his porch. He should remove those too. He stepped outside, being immediately enveloped by the winter winds blowing around the freshly laid out snow.
‘It snowed a lot this year. Where are your snow-angels?’
Donghyuck touched the scarf wrapped around his neck. The one he searched for for hours just to find it laid around the ‘neck’ of the snowman you both built earlier that day. Despite his scolding, he couldn’t help but think that who needs presents when his biggest blessing is smiling so purely right in front of him?
‘Are you building snowmen away from me now? Are you using someone else’s scarf now?’
His face contorted into a grimace. He grabbed two fistfuls of fresh snow, throwing them into the wind, watching them meddle amongst themselves
‘You talked all that shit about giving them a second chance to find their loved ones after a storm, to find their soulmates once again. So where are you?’
‘Why don’t you give me another chance to find you too?’
Donghyuck watched helplessly as the snow settled down once again. What if soulmates get lost forever? What if they don’t meet again? He crouched in the middle of the alley to his house. The same one you walked on and away from him.
A lonely snowflake landed on his hand, as if to prove Donghyuck a point. He couldn’t help but chuckle sarcastically, pain lacing his usually bright tone.
‘Are you feeling it too, buddy? Are you alone too?’
‘How about you, my love? Where are you, Y/N?’
Another snowflake slowly descended right by the one already settled on his hand. Destined together, by the hands of fate, by each other’s hand, by time itself.
‘Ah, found your soulmate, have you?’
‘Where has mine gone?’
A crunch resonated in Donghyuck’s ears, right in front of him. So close.
“Sorry for the wait.”
His head snapped up. Did heartbreak cause illusions? Did desperation cause hearings? No, while his brain took its time comprehending, his heart knew instantly. It recognized its owner.
“It got confused and a little scared on the way here, but it finally found its way back home.”
You were home. At home in his arms, nestled in his embrace, face buried in his chest, right above his erratic heartbeat.
“You know, late comers have to pay for the wasted time.”
“Oh, is that so? How much is it?”
“Just a lifetime spent together.”
Donghyuck’s eyes sparkled again.
~~~~
You still haven’t decided what takes the crown as the best replica of the fluffy clouds traveling lazily across the sky. You stick another piece of baby blue cotton candy in your own mouth while internally debating between the two choices. The floss of sweetness you had the luxury to eat at the moment or-
A whine interrupted you. Your head snapped to the side just to meet a pair of puppy eyes staring back at you, waiting for acknowledgement.
“Hyuckie too~”
“Maybe Hyuckie should have bought his own then.”
Despite your seemingly annoyed retort and the roll of your eyes, you still offered him a piece of cotton candy, one that he didn’t hesitate to snatch right from your hand the moment it was presented in front of his lips.
You stared adoringly at your boyfriend as he munched satisfied on the sweet and you could barely suppress the need to run your fingers through his soft locks, bury your hand into your own warm, lavender-smelling cloud.
“I’m getting flashbacks from our first meeting.”
You snapped out of your haze, redirecting your attention to Donghyuck’s words.
“Huh?”
“It’s the same bench. When you stole my cotton candy and then offered to share it with me oh so kindly-”
“I paid for it! And saved you too for the sake of it!”
“And then trapped me with you in order to repay you.”
You slapped his arm, watching fondly as he dissolved in a fit of giggles. You both knew he didn’t mean it, he spent countless hours thanking the world and you for bringing you two together and allowing him happiness. You sighed a bit melancholic, only just realising that he was right, this was the same bench you ate your first candy floss together. Same place, same people, same surroundings, different circumstances.
“It feels like an eternity ago.”
“And at the same times it feels like only yesterday.”
A beat of silence passed before Donghyuck spoke again, quieter, more careful, almost timidly.
“I’m scared too sometimes.”
You leaned into him, nuzzling your cheek against his shoulder. He brought the hand that wasn’t holding your waist already up to your face, cupping your cheek delicately and caressing it with his thumb. His snowflake finally had a soulmate.
“Why?”
He bumped his nose against yours, leaning his forehead against yours. He had you, under his fingertips, breaths mingled, hearts beating together.
“What if it’s over before we realise?”
You hummed softly, your lips brushing against his as you murmured your next words, a secret shared between lovers
“Doesn’t matter. Time is nothing with you, an irrelevant notion meant to hurry us when all we want to do is linger a second more. For you and me, there’s no end and no beginning.”
And sure enough, here you were. Two snowflakes, vulnerable and in passing, sharing a cloud and a timeless bond.
Promise (M)
One Shot | GrungeGuitarist!Jimin x Reader
(established relationship)
Genres: fluff, romance, smut
Rating: 18+ (M) for explicit sexual content
Word Count: 9,062 words
Warnings: tooth rotting sweet fluff, profanities, mild dirty talk, smut, light nipple play, dry humping, fingering:fem receiving, unprotected sex (stay safe), slight creampie, softdom!Jimin
A/N: This is a re-upload after I have taken down the original for editing purposes and strongly inspired by the 200414 MiniMoni VLive, because Jimin looked great and I’m weak for that man. You may need to see a dentist after reading this because this is pure teeth rotting fluff, my friends. Jimin is a true softie for (Y/N) here lol.
You still remember the first kiss you shared with him. That one night, when you met on the playground in your neighborhood, sitting beside eachother on the swings as Jimin told you about his big dream for the first time. He wants to succeed with his band. He dreams of a future as a well-known guitarist. And back then you had told him that you did not think of it as a silly wish. You believed in him back then when your teenage self agreed to stay by his side, and you still do to this day. This was also the moment in which he knew – he was madly in love with you.
Looking back on your last years of dating Jimin, you could not deny what a cliche rebel couple you were. Instead of asking you to prom, your boyfriend skipped the whole event with you and his bandmates to break into the football field of your school that night. But you did not regret it one bit. The memory of your friends chasing eachother on the field and lying in the grass to look up at the starry night sky was as vivid and precious to you as no other. That same night you saw the first shooting star of your life while holding Jimin’s hand and begging him to tell you what he had wished for. Yet, he never told you, to this day. Instead, he said “Let’s stay like this forever” and gave your hand a meaningful squeeze with the reflection of the stars above shining in his eyes.
His words from this night turned into a promise you both made and kept.
You were there for each one of his band’s gigs in small bars and scene clubs. You were there for many of their band practices, too. And now you are there to witness their first big breakthrough as the opening act to an increasingly popular indie band.
Holding Taehyung’s bass guitar, you watch his attempt to fix his hair. He must have applied half a can of hairspray by now and you doubt that even a single strand would budge during the show. However, Taehyung wants to be safe. “This is our big deal! The most important performance we have ever had yet!” He wants to give it his all, just like the other members.
You turn and look at Yoongi, who is sitting on the couch in the corner of the small dressing room while tapping his drumsticks onto his thighs in concentration. Having known him for as long as the other boys, you quickly realized that he is wearing his “lucky charm” – his signature worn out leather jacket. He wore it to their very first gig, wore it daily during finals week and he also wore it that fateful night you all skipped prom together. The memories place a nostalgic smile on your lips.
Meanwhile, Jeongguk keeps pacing around the room while mumbling the lyrics to their latest song. He may be the youngest of them all, but he is a real multi-talent. It's almost like magic, the way he is so damn good at everything if he just wants to succeed at it. Eyeing his guitar on its stand next to Jimin’s, you can't help but wonder where your boyfriend, the main guitarist of this band, has gone to. He had left the room about 20 minutes ago, saying he was going to the toilet real quick, but he has not returned since. “Thank you,” Taehyung smiles as he takes his bass from you. “Is Jimin still gone?” He then asks. Nodding, you already make your way to the door. “Yes, but I’ll go check up on him.
Striding through the cramped halls backstage, you make your way to the men’s toilets. And just when you raise your hand to knock on the door, it opens to reveal the man you have been looking for.
“(Y/N)?” He was clearly startled. You sigh in relief. “It’s been over twenty minutes, just what in the world were you doing in there?” you ask, sensing that something was wrong. Seeing the deep red tint on his bottom lip, you can already guess what he was doing. Biting his lip when he got nervous was one of his habits. And judging by how red it was, he must have been gnawing on it like crazy. Since he does not respond, very aware of how easily you could read him and his body language, you decide to ask straight away. “How bad is it?”
You almost see the heavy weight on his shoulders as he says “Very bad… Baby, I can’t mess this up. Not this time. It would ruin everything we’ve worked so hard for.” A compassionate smile finds its way to your lips. “You’re always worrying so much. Jimin, you’ll do great. I am one-hundred percent sure of that, alright?” Noticing the doubtful glimmer in his eyes, you continue “You’ve worked so hard for this very moment. Don’t dread it, enjoy it. When you guys go up on that stage, I want you to relish that moment. Because this is going to be the first time of many more to come.”
His lips slowly curve upwards as he nods slowly, “Alright.” You smile and pull him into a hug, feeling the fast rhythm of his heartbeat as he too holds you close. “No matter what’s going to happen, I am and will always be your biggest fan” you say. Chuckling, he moves a hand to gently cup your cheek and look at your face. “I know. Thank you for being here, (Y/N).” A second passes in which you smile at eachother, before he leans in to kiss you.
“Ugh, are you serious? We’ve only got ten minutes to go through the setlist before we go on stage, so move your ass back into the dressing room before it’s too late!”
The two of you immediately part at the sound of Yoongi’s aggravated voice behind you. You know that he did not mean to be rude, yet the sharp sound to his words really shocked you for a second. Seems like Jimin was not the only one who was nervous to the bone. You see Jimin sending you an apologetic smile before rushing after his hyung. Shaking your head, you make your way to the stage already, not planning to interfere in this special moment your boyfriend and friends would share right before the show now. You could still wish each one of them good luck when they go up there, after all.
From your spot next to the stage you had a perfect view not just on the boys, but on the audience as well. And you could not feel any prouder of your friends. They had introduced themselves a little awkwardly, but as soon as the chorus to their first song started the audience was going completely crazy. They loved it. And you could tell how much joy the boys felt in that moment.
As the songs got heavier, the movements of the crowd did the same. They even formed a small moshpit at some point and tried to shout along to repetitive phrases of the last song’s chorus.
It was clear that Jeongguk did not lie when he told the audience how much he loved them for being so welcoming and wild. And so did the rest of the boys, bright smiles painted on their sweat covered faces.
You almost could not believe your eyes as you watched them on stage. They looked like absolute rockstars already, the sweet boys you have known for such a long time suddenly looking so grown up. Finally, your eyes lock on your boyfriend, cooly jumping onto a platform at the front of the stage to play his solo. As he throws his head back while playing the longest note of his solo, you can see the sweat running down his neck and strands of his once well-styled hair sticking to his skin. In this moment, he looks like the very definition of ‘sinful’, reviving memories of the last time you had seen him like this - in a wholly different context. But these thoughts have to wait.
When they finally play the last tunes of their performance, the crowd cheers loudly – the sound of hundreds of people cheering for your friends and filling your heart with immense joy and pride. You too are cheering as they come down the stairs, sweat dripping from their brightly smiling faces. “That was incredible!” Taehyung exclaims with a voice of true ecstasy. Jeongguk nods, patting his friend’s shoulder as the two of them give you a high-five while passing you to get back to the dressing room. You greet Yoongi with a big grin and loud “You did amazing!”, happy to see him beaming one of his rarest gummy smiles back at you as he slings one arm around you in a rushed hug while thanking you before he follows the others.
The main act is already approaching to go on stage as you almost tackle Jimin the second he gets off of the stairs. “You were unbelievable! I told you you’d do well!” you cheer as he laughs wholeheartedly at your enthusiasm. “I feel like I’m in heaven, did I die on stage?” he asks as he hugs you tight, his entire body still trembling due to the rush of adrenaline.
You laugh and kiss his cheek, then his nose, honestly just aiming at random spots on his face as you do so. “I’m so proud of you, Jimin” you say as he’s grinning widely.
After a few minutes of basically shouting praises and cheers at one another and then making fun of Jeongguk for suddenly crying tears of happiness, the boys watched the concert from beside the stage with you. They even were asked back onto the stage for a few songs during the encore, which the audience clearly enjoyed just as much as the performance prior to that. On your way to the hotel you guys would stay at for the night, you checked the boys’ band profiles online and could not have been any prouder when you saw the follower counts continuously rising on each one of them.
The other band had invited your friends to an after party at the hotel’s bar and after an hour or so you decided to let them have this moment to themselves. Especially since you were already getting tired anyway. So you went to Jimin’s and your room instead. Honestly, you could not believe it yourself either. The four men you have been supporting for more than five years, basically since the day they decided to practice and start a band together, finally are so close to their goal.
You take a quick shower and wrap yourself in the hotel’s bathrobe before drying your hair and starting your basic skincare ritual in front of the mirror above the sink. As usual, you get lost in your thoughts while massaging the cleanser into your skin and rinsing it off, thinking about how much has changed within the past couple of years. You first met Jimin in high school, both of you being friends with your classmate Jeongguk and naturally meeting eachother at his parties or during lunch breaks. That was how you made friends with Taehyung and Yoongi, too. Even though you did not share any classes with even one of them, you became friendly with them very quickly.
This friendship held for many years. You graduated, went to college, shared many memories together – and here you are today.
While you were so lost in your thoughts and washing your face, you did not hear the door to your hotel room as someone entered. So when you come out of the bathroom, you nearly have a heart attack as you see someone rummaging through your boyfriend’s suitcase. Until you realize that it is Jimin himself. “Hey” you greet him casually, a little confused by why he is here and not with the others. Turning around, he beams a smile at you, greeting you back. “Did your after party end already?” you ask and take a seat on the edge of the bed as you watch him collect his sleepwear. “Not really” he says, “I just didn’t feel like staying much longer.”
You are about to ask if something had happened. But then Jimin already stands in front of you with a grin and kisses the top of your head, one of his hands dropping to your exposed thigh. His thumb is slowly rubbing circles into your skin as he looks you in the eyes. “And I thought we could celebrate in a different way tonight…”
There it is. That signature smirk on his lips as he awaits your reaction, just like the smirk he would send your way every now and then when he was on stage earlier. He knows that you like the attitude he holds on stage, that you watched him and his every move closely.
And quite frankly, this is not the first time you are feeling this way. After the boys’ very first gig you nearly jumped Jimin the second he came off stage. You would be embarrassed, but who could blame you? Whenever your sweet boyfriend steps on stage, it is as if he takes on a different persona. His cute eye smiles and giggles get replaced by a sinful smirk and bedroom eyes. Even the way he walks or pushes his hair back looks so different on stage in comparison to the man you know off stage.
You mirror his smirk as you nod and cup his face to pull him in. “Sounds great” you say before kissing Jimin and feeling the upcurve of his lips against your own. His hand on your thigh glides down to the back of your knee as his other hand softly pushes you down by your shoulder. He leans down to capture you against the mattress with your leg on his hip as the kiss grows heated.
Wearing only the flimsy bathrobe, you moan into the kiss when you feel his crotch moving into your own, the rough material of his ripped jeans eliciting a raw sensation against your exposed skin. Detaching his lips from yours, he moves on to your jaw and neck, following an imaginary trail as he leaves wet kisses on his way down. Your hands wind through his messy hair as the back of your raised thigh is being kneaded by his hand.
“Seems like you planned for this to happen tonight” he accuses you with a smirk before untying your robe, wanting to see your body that’s hidden underneath. “Tell me, did you enjoy today’s show?” You nod and help him with the knot in your belt. “Use your words, baby” he then says, stopping your hands by engulfing them with his as he looks at your face expectantly. “Yes. I enjoyed it a lot” you say, not trusting your voice with the way his dark eyes lock with yours.
He nods once, satisfied with your answer and places a kiss on your collarbone as he lets go of your hands and opens the robe. “Did you like my solo performance, too?” he asks, kissing down to the valley of your breasts and sinking his hips to yours again, pressing the prominent bulge in his jeans against your pulsing core. You sigh in pleasure as you whimper. “Yes. Very much.” Now kissing around your left nipple, he moves a hand to your other breast, stimulating your right bud by softly rubbing and twisting it between his fingers. Holding onto his shoulders and arching your back with a mewl, you press your chest to his lips and he sucks on your bud before licking around it. “What part of my performance did you like best, baby?” he asks, his voice nearly a whisper before he continues to work his magic on your sensitive chest. Moaning at the stimulation, you grind your hips against his and say “I liked it all… But your h-hip thrust during “Lie” nearly had me drooling.”
He chuckles and glances up at your face. “You mean this one?” He asks and pushes his clothed crotch into yours by re-enacting the skillful bodyroll he had shown on stage. You moan and nod, wishing for him to finally take off some of his clothes too. “Yes!”
Caressing your sides, he kisses down your stomach before sitting up and looking at your exposed body while licking his lips. "Just how much did you enjoy the show? Did you get wet?” His face does not look as playful as it did mere seconds ago. Instead, his gaze looked almost serious, yet filled with lust. Feeling your cheeks burn, you guess you must be bright red in the face as you avert your eyes and nod bashfully. “I couldn’t help it…” you admit quietly.
When you hear a rustling noise above you, you see Jimin pulling his shirt over his head, the delicate silver necklace with the letters of your name dangling from it getting caught in the fabric for a second, dropping the shirt somewhere near the bed before he leans down once again. His face now just a hair’s width away from yours, he doesn’t give you the chance to fully admire his toned body when he smirks. “If that turned you on already… Then how wet are you right now?” he asks, sounding as if he expects you to answer when his hand slides down your stomach, over your pelvis to where you wanted it most. You whimper at the soft touch of his fingers, your core feeling so sensitive after the rough thrusts of his jeans clad crotch.
“So wet. Just for you” you moan, remembering how much he likes to be reminded that he is the only one who ever makes you feel this way. Jimin likes to be in control during sex. He loves it when you're obedient, like you are his and his alone. Humming at your response, he slowly moves his fingers up and down your slit before drawing small but firm circles around your clit. Gasping for air at the sudden pleasure, you hold onto his arm. Nearly fearing that he might move it somewhere else if you don’t hold it in place. He knows your body like the back of his hand, as you do his. Both of you know every sensitive spot, every little mole and every trick on the other's body, understanding how to make the other feel good. “You’re such a good girl for me, huh? Only having eyes for me, getting this wet only for me…” His voice is deep and his fingers relentless as he stimulates your clit until your thighs begin to tremble. “Do you want me to make you cum like this, baby?” He asks you and inserts a finger into your dripping hole, his lips now next to your ear as he places a kiss on your temple. You moan louder, shaking your head. “No… I want more. Jimin, please!”
He smirks and adds another finger, scissoring and curling them inside of you. “More? How much more do you want?” He asks “More, like this?” and pumps them knuckles deep into your pulsing core before he adds a third finger, stretching you nicely and rubbing your walls to find the spot that has you seeing stars.
The moan of his name that leaves your lips sounds like a beautiful melody to Jimin’s ears as he kisses your cheek. “Please, Jimin! I need you. Need you so bad” you beg, desperately wishing for him to just fill you up with his cock instead.
His fingers push into your most sensitive spot, rubbing it with every following thrust of his fingers as it has you arching your back off the mattress and mewling in delight and frustration all at once. “Please, Jimin!” you repeat, clumsily trying to unbuckle his belt. Chuckling, he pecks your lips and whispers an “Ok” before pulling his fingers from you and locking eyes with you as he moves them to his mouth, sucking them clean one after the other with a low hum. Your breathing picks up as you watch him and you pull him closer by his shoulders. The feeling of his lips on yours is what occupies your mind completely as you share a messy but passionate kiss. Opening his belt and jeans before pushing all of it down his thighs, along with his boxer briefs, Jimin doesn't let off of your lips until the very last second.
You smile at your lovely boyfriend before following the trail of fading marks and bruises you had left on his neck two days ago down, only to swallow at the sight of his fully erect dick, the tip an angry red as it’s leaking pre-cum and the shaft a width that stretches you so deliciously every time. “Fuck” you groan as you drop your head back, craving the feeling of him inside you so bad, it’s ridiculous.
“Spread your legs for me, baby. I want to see you” you then hear Jimin say, as his hands already hold onto the back of your thighs to push them apart. You bite your lip in anticipation and open your legs wide, watching the way he takes in the sight. “Look at the mess you’ve made… And we’ve barely even gotten started …” he groans, watching you gush and clench around nothing in anticipation of what’s to come. He holds onto his shaft and moves it up and down your folds. A movement that has both of you sighing in pleasure. When he aligns his dick with your wet hole, he moves to hover above your face again and your arms wrap around his neck as he pushes into you slowly. Inch by inch, he stretches you further, the drawn-out moan leaving your throat and your clawing hands in his black hair a clear evidence of the blissful feeling it elicits.
“Fuck, you’re always so tight for me, baby. Feels so good” Jimin growls through his teeth, eyes closed as his forehead rests on yours. He is holding back the urge to fuck into you right from the start, you can tell. He bottoms out, dropping his head into the crook of your neck and waiting a second or two for you to get used to his size. When you move your legs to wrap around his hips, he gets the sign and slides out until only the tip is left inside before thrusting all the way back in. You moan in unison as he keeps up a steady rhythm, repeating this motion over and over again.
When his pace reaches a high, his hands move to your thighs, pushing them further up towards your chest to reach deeper into you. You release a broken moan of his name at that, feeling his dick deep inside you as he fills you with each of his thrusts. Sinfully wet sounds of skin hitting skin and your shared moans fill the room. “Shit, I’m getting close” he pants out inbetween lustful grunts and groans.
You nod, implying that you too are nearing the end, unable to use your words as the only sounds leaving your throat right now are euphoric moans and whimpers. Keeping up his fast rhythm, he moves a hand down inbetween you both to rub his thumb around your swollen clit in quick movements. “That’s it, cum for me (Y/N).” You almost shout out when you feel the coil in your lower belly snap as you come undone, your body shaking and your eyes rolling back to the point where all you see is white.
Riding out your orgasm, you feel Jimin holding on your waist tightly and increasing the pace of his now erratic thrusts until he cums with a broken moan, buried deep inside of you as he fills you with several spurts of white. Resting his head on your chest, he pants in synch with you as you both try to recover from your climax. Your hand glides through his hair on the back of his head mindlessly, caressing and massaging his skull until he moves to pull out and fall down beside you on the bed.
“Was this the kind of celebration you’ve been thinking of?” you ask, turning onto your side to cuddle into his bare chest. His arms instinctively wrap around you, holding you close and caressing your back. “No, this was better” he says with a cocky smile and kisses your forehead. “And so much better than any after party, too.”
You close your eyes as you listen to his heartbeat slowly going back to it’s normal pace. “I’m really proud of you, Jimin” you then mumble into his skin. He chuckles. “Did I fuck you that good?” Frowning and pinching his arm, you say “No!”, resulting in a genuine laugh from him. “I mean because you’re so close to fulfilling your biggest dream. You’ve come so far, baby.”
His amused smile becomes gentle as he nods and moves his hand to stroke your head, his hand smoothing down the nest that has formed on your head. “Do you remember the night on the football field?” he suddenly asks, his voice almost a whisper. Opening your eyes before you nod, you smile softly. “Of course…” Playing with a strand of your hair, he goes on. “That night, we saw a shooting star. And I wouldn’t tell you what I wished for.”
You grumble. “Yeah, I’m still curious.” Chuckling once again, Jimin says “Back then… I didn’t wish for our band to succeed. I didn’t wish for a chance as a musician. I didn’t wish for anything that I’d usually wish for.” Listening, you move your head to face Jimin. “All I asked for was for you to stay with me. All the way.”
Feeling the beating of your heart increasing in pace and your eyes starting to water, you were left speechless. “But then… We made that promise. I kept my wish from you, thinking it wouldn’t become true if I told you. That’s so ridiculous, isn’t it?” he says, smiling in shame when he realizes how superstitious this was. You shake your head, giggling quietly. “It is ridiculous, because you definitely wasted a chance for a wish there.” you say, looking him dead in the eye as he mocks offense. “I promised to stay with you forever. And I’m not one to break promises, ever.” Extending your pinky finger, you hold it up to your heads.
“Alright, same for me” Jimin smiles, now an amused curve to his lips rather than the bashful smile from before, and links his pinky with yours before refreshing the seal of your old promise with a kiss to your lips.
"You know... This is the cheesiest thing you have ever said after sex." you suddenly deadpan, grinning at your embarrassed boyfriend's blushing cheeks as you both break out into quiet giggles a second later.
Summer Apprentice || Severus Snape x Reader
♡Request Guidelines♡
♡Masterlist♡
Summary: Y/N has graduated from Hogwarts and is taking summer potions sessions at Snape’s house.
Characters: Severus Snape and Female Reader (18/19)
Rating: PG
Warnings: Fluff uwu, Slow Burn
Word Count: 2,490
A/N: Hiii I’m so glad people enjoyed my first fanfic :3 Thank you much for all the lovely feedback! Here is a fluffy Snape one-shot that I wrote. Once again this is set in a different AU and I apologise for any mistakes or OOC-ness. I also dedicate this one to @serpens-amans who has been so sweet to me! <3 Go check out her fics she is an amazing writer!!
It was the summer holidays after you graduated from your final year at Hogwarts. A summer which would be filled with days of relaxation at your family’s countryside cottage. You would practice charms, brew potions you've never tried, and perhaps even develop some unique spells of your own. Bask in the utter happiness and freedom to be finally done with school. How perfect life would be. Well, that is what you had imagined anyway. Your dream of happy summer days was ripped away from you when Headmaster Dumbledore suggested you take summer classes with professor Snape, the potions master himself. These weekly sessions would help you elevate your potions skills even more and lead you to a successful career path. As beneficial as they were, it still felt like a heavyweight on your shoulders. You were looking forward to a stress-free summer not an alternate version of a school year. These thoughts swirled around in your mind as you walked down the bleak street of Spinner’s End, you thought back to the meeting that took place that included the headmaster, your parents and all of your professors and wondered how it ever came to be like this.
~~~
“I-I don’t understand! If I’m so good at potions, why do I have to take summer classes? I thought I was done with school!” You asked, crossing your arms in disbelief. You sat around a large table between your parents, a meeting had been scheduled days before your graduation to discuss your future. Across from you sat Dumbledore and around him sat all of your other professors from all your years at Hogwarts. This gathering about your future was incredibly frustrating, you were graduating soon! Why did this all have to come up all of a sudden and ruin your plans? With a pout on your lips, you leaned back in your chair and thought about what you would tell your friends when they questioned you about your holiday plans. You could already hear their laughter echoing in your mind as they teased you about having to go to summer school.
Dumbledore smiled kindly at you, the rims of his glasses shining in the light, “I understand, Miss Y/L/N. You are undoubtedly one of the top youngest witches in all of Hogwarts, even I must acknowledge your talents. However, your parents and I have discussed that you would indeed benefit from additional schooling. Professor Snape has graciously agreed to give you advanced private lessons at his home during the summer holidays.” He explained in a thoughtful tone. On either side of you, your parents nodded and hummed in agreement. “Y/N, this is all for your future, your mother and I are already so proud of you, we want you to succeed and become the best you can be.” Your father muses as he pats your head gently. “Professor Snape is very kind to make time for you during his holidays so please be grateful, sweetheart,” your mother chimes in. Your eyes flashed towards your dark-haired professor who said nothing and maintained a solid expression. Surely Snape wasn’t happy about this either? You would think he would have a scowl on his face yet he showed no sign of annoyance or displeasure. Perhaps there was more of an argument before you and your parents had arrived. Unlike most students, you didn’t hate your potions professor and you liked to think he didn’t despise you as much either. You never caused problems in class, always maintained excellent grades and you were respectful towards him. In return, he treated you better than the other students and sometimes even praised your work. You didn’t completely hate his company either so maybe, just maybe, these private lessons wouldn’t be too bad.
With a deep sigh you managed to smile politely, “Alright… Fine, I understand. I’ll attend the summer lessons,” Your face flushes as you look at your potions professor, “And... Thank you for agreeing to teach me during the summer, professor Snape. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot.” You finish shyly, suddenly feeling embarrassed about your stubborn behaviour from earlier. For someone who was graduating in a couple of days, you sure were acting a bit immature. The corners of Snape’s lips curled upwards slightly in a half-smile and he nodded once at you. You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and looked away, you hoped that he didn’t think you did not want to spend time with him.
~~~
The memory fades as you near Professor Snape’s house and you sigh deeply, breathing in the summer air. It was a strange neighbourhood, Spinner’s End. You never saw any of the residents outside every time you visited, it almost seemed abandoned. Not to mention, the dreary state of things, there was barely any colour on any of the houses. You stared down the street of gray brick and wondered if Snape liked spending his holidays here. You turned into the driveway leading up to your professor’s home, it looked like every other house on the street, old and deteriorated. You knocked twice on his door and announced your arrival out loud, “Professor Snape? It’s me Y/N.” You clasp your hands together behind your back and dig the toe of your shoe into the pavement as you wait patiently for his answer, wondering about what potion he was going to teach you today. It had already been a couple of weeks into your advanced lessons and they were not much different from how he taught at Hogwarts, aside from the difficult potion brewing, it was all very familiar to you.
“Enter,” a low voice called out from inside as the door slowly creaked open. Snape stood a few meters away from his front door, wearing his regular dark robes. “You’re late.” He stated plainly as he watched you step inside and close the door carefully. It was still odd to him, seeing his student in his house during the summer. Even more so, a student that he didn’t completely despise. It also felt strange to him to see you outside of your Slytherin uniform and instead in flowy and soft summer clothing. He often asked himself if it was appropriate for you to be wearing such attire around him, your dresses and skirts were often on the short side to say the least. However, you weren’t a student anymore and he wasn’t about to have an uncomfortable conversation with you about something so minuscule. Today, you wore a white dress with a pink floral pattern and your hair was tied up loosely in a ponytail. Your bright and colourful attire was the only thing that stood out amongst the dull furniture of his living room and though he would never admit it, he found your outfits to be quite endearing on you.
“I’m sorry, professor, I-I had a late morning…” You bowed your head slightly, not being able to look him in the eye. You had that strange feeling in your stomach again, it was a feeling you had been getting a lot recently, especially around your potions professor. You were all aflutter as your insides churned nervously. You tried your best to push these feelings aside, not wanting to deal with whatever it was going on in your heart and mind but you felt as though your fidgeting was quite noticeable. Stealing a glance at Snape, you saw that he had already turned away from you, walking towards the kitchen with his dark cloak fanning out behind him, “Come along. Do not waste any more time,” He says to you not even acknowledging your excuse. He turned his head slightly to make sure you were following behind him. Your feet scramble to catch up with him and your next lesson in advanced potion-making begins.
You scratch your head as professor Snape explains the steps of the Wolfsbane potion that you were to be following under his supervision. The two of you stood side by side behind the kitchen counter which was littered with vials, notes, and ingredients for your lesson. You scribbled down some notes on some loose parchment but you were undoubtedly getting confused already and you were starting to lose confidence that your potion would turn outright. With a hesitant throw of ingredients there and a shaky hand at crushing aconite here, you were feeling as though your cauldron was about to blow up in your face any minute now. You hadn’t anticipated this potion to be so difficult and your palms became clammy with sweat. “Stir the mixture vigorously in a rhythmic pattern; like so,” Snape says oblivious to your confusion. He takes hold of the glass rod and expertly stirs the potion in a specific pattern. You blink, trying your best to hide your lack of certainty. What did he do just now? Your eyes saw the stirring motion yet your brain retained no memory of that information. The raven-haired man beside you eyes you expectantly, waiting for you to perform the action he had just done.
You gulp nervously and hesitantly pick up your glass rod, “l-like this..?” you ask as you stir in a random pattern which you hoped mimicked his. You almost yelp and jump back as your potion gives out a loud sizzle and faint smoke. “Absolutely not,” professor Snape grumbles at you, “pay close attention, Miss Y/L/N. There is little room for error here.” He scowls at you, his patience wearing thin. With a quick tug at his sleeve, he demonstrates the stirring motion once more, a bit slower than his previous attempt. You lean closer towards his cauldron, watching the glass rod move past in different directions, clinking softly against the rim of the metal. You tried your best to memorize the pattern and the rhythm in which to stir but you still felt a little lost on what to do and not to mention the growing feeling of being overwhelmed. Nodding slightly, you picked up your own stirring tool once more and tried your best to repeat the step again. Before you can even finish, Snape stops you by raising his arm in front of you, halting your hand with his own. “Stop- Stop! Before you make a mess of my kitchen,” He bellows at you, “What, pray tell, is so difficult to understand, Miss Y/L/N? Hm?” He sighs in annoyance and steps behind you, his large hand still grasping your own. You could feel the warmth of his palm on the back of your hand and butterflies erupted in your stomach. Your breathing hitched as you felt his solid chest press against your back, a rosy blush painted your cheeks as pink as the flowers on your dress. You struggle to form words to answer his question but not a single syllable slips past your parted lips. You could feel your heartbeat rapidly in your chest as he gently leads your hand with his. The fabric of his sleeve brushed against the bare skin of your arm and you immediately felt a shiver run down your spine. You watch silently as both of your hands trace the pattern within your potion, your eyes lingering longer than necessary on his long digits. The potion immediately stops sizzling and instead begins to bubble normally as the pattern is stirred successfully.
You let out a breath of relief, thankfully nothing exploded. “...Might as well finish it off, add in the last bits of aconite, Miss Y/L/N. The pattern must be performed once more and I do not trust you to do it yourself.” Snape’s stern voice was heard from above you. You realized his hand was still atop of yours, waiting for you to add in the final ingredients. You quickly grabbed the small dish of crushed aconite with your free hand and tossed the remnants into your cauldron. For a few seconds, nothing happened to signal that the potion was close to being completed. That is until your cauldron gave a loud pop. “Ah-! N-No..!!” You cried out in surprise, dropping your glass rod into your bubbling cauldron and quickly turning your body away from your potion set up. Eyes shut tight, you buried your face into professor Snape’s chest, your hands clutched the dark fabric of his robes as you pressed your body into his.
Severus was equally as surprised as you but more so about the fact that you were hugging him so tightly. His eyes looked down at your shaking and whimpering form, you had become completely panic-stricken. His hand hesitantly raises before resting on your upper back, in hopes to help you calm down. With his other hand, he took out his wand from his cloak pocket and skillfully cast a spell to efficiently clean up the mess that resulted from your failed potion. He pursed his lips as he watched the chaos return to its orderly state. Wolfsbane was an extremely difficult potion to brew, he did not expect you to brew it correctly on your first try however it seems he had been too hard on you for this lesson. He clears his throat and pats your back gently, “It is quite alright, Miss Y/L/N. There is no need to shed tears over something so inconsequential.”
Sniffling and teary-eyed, you slowly raise your head away from his body, “I-I’m sorry, professor. I thought I would be able to do it if I just figured it out on my own. I… I should have stopped you and asked for clarification. And then when my cauldron exploded, it frightened me even more..!” You sniffed whilst shaking your head. Severus gave you a sympathetic expression, you looked so cute to him in this moment and he strangely felt the urge to kiss you. He pats your head softly, shifting his eyes away from you before he acted on his temptation, “Perhaps... It would help to take a brief break. A cup of tea shall calm your nerves...” He says, gently removing himself away from you quickly and reaching for his cupboards.
Once he turned away from you and was sure that you could not see his face, only then he allowed himself to smile gingerly to himself. To feel your warmth pressed up against him felt… Quite pleasant. As he prepared the hot beverage for you to drink, he thought about how much he enjoyed the feeling of being stronger than you, bigger than you, being the arms that you run into when you felt scared. He surprised himself by having these thoughts, was it appropriate for him to be thinking these things? And his reactions… He normally would recoil at physical touch but yours felt different. Warm and comforting. Your innocent face flashed before his eyes, your tear-filled eyes and soft lips. Only then had he realized how much he had grown to care for you. You, who was without a doubt his favourite student. He vowed to protect you forever.
Princess (Dad!Luke)
In which Luke wants to make his daughter feel better about her cochlear implant.
Warnings: mentions of bullying
A/N: hello this idea came to me a while ago and i finally got the chance to write it!!! i love dad!luke so i hope you guys enjoyyy
dad!sos universe
-
Luke wasn’t sure how many more times he could tolerate Eden coming home from school crying.
Nearly every day, she would run into his arms with tears streaming down her face, begging him to let her take her cochlear implant off. She would tell him all of the mean names the other kids in her class called her, the nasty things they said to her, and it broke his heart. He had hoped that she would have an easy time adjusting to the cochlear implant, but the bullying was making it incredibly hard for her.
He had sent her teacher countless emails, asking her to do something about it, and while she claimed she had been talking to the kids that Eden said were doing it, it clearly was not stopping. He even reached out to the kids’ parents, furious that these children were so awful to his daughter, and he only got the same response as from the teacher, and saw no results.
Luke wracked his brain for ideas. He wanted to make the bullying stop as well as make Eden feel better about having the implant. It tore him up inside to see his little girl so sad, and no matter what he said to comfort her, she still hated it. He came to you for advice, but considering you were just as upset as him, you couldn’t think of much either. You thought about asking to go into the class together and talk to the kids yourselves, but you weren’t sure that was going to really help the situation.
One day, after Eden finally calmed down from crying yet again and Luke gave her some water and a snack, it didn’t take long at all for her to fall asleep, and he carried her up to her room to let her nap in peace.
He was just about to go see if Rowan and Teddy needed help with their homework when an idea popped into his head. A smile started to spread across his face as he reached for his phone, quickly calling Ashton.
“Hey, man, what’s up?” Ashton asked when he picked up.
“I need your help with something,” Luke explained, excited and hopeful.
“Sure, is everything okay?” He asked, always one to be concerned.
“Yeah. It’s just, you know how I’ve been saying that Eden has been getting bullied? About the implant?”
Ashton sighed. He loved all the band babies like they were his own, and his heart ached when he heard about what was going on. Eden was such a little angel, always so sweet and down for a cuddle, and she didn’t deserve the treatment she was getting.
“Yeah, I know. Wish I could give those kids a piece of my mind.”
“Me too,” Luke chuckled, making his way to your shared bedroom and sitting down on the edge of the bed. “But I’ve been trying to think of something to do that’ll make the bullying stop and comfort Eden, and I think I finally came up with something good.”
“Oh, yeah? What’s that?”
“I was thinking we could come up with some kind of character that has a cochlear implant. Like a princess, Eden is obsessed with anything involving princesses. We could maybe get Andy to help us make some designs and come up with some stories. I know Eden will love seeing a princess that’s like her, and I think if she shows her class, they might not think the implant is so weird if they see that a princess has one too.”
Ashton was grinning widely by the time Luke finished talking. Not only did he think it was a great idea, but he was also just so proud of Luke. He was like a little brother to him, and it made his heart swell to see him be such an amazing father. He would do anything for his kids, and that was one of the many things Ashton loved about him.
“That’s an awesome idea, Luke. I’d love to help.”
“Thanks, Ash,” Luke sighed in relief, glad that he didn’t think the idea was ridiculous. “I’m going to talk to Y/N about it when she gets home from work, but I’m sure she’ll be on board. I’ll let you know more later.” He heard Teddy call his name. “Alright, I gotta go, but I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you then.”
With that, he hung up and headed downstairs to help Teddy with homework, thrilled with finally getting to help Eden.
Later, once the kids were all in bed, you and Luke sat down together on the couch to get in another episode of the show you had been watching. Before Luke clicked play, he wanted to talk to you about the princess idea.
“Before we start, I had an idea that I wanted to lay on you, babe,” he mumbled, glancing over at you. You nodded, turning your body to face him.
“Okay, what is it?” You asked curiously.
He explained the idea to you, and you were ecstatic. You had been trying to think of things as well, but nothing really really struck you as good. This, though, was a very good idea. He always had the best ideas when it came to the kids.
“Eden will love that!” You exclaimed, watching the grin spread across his face. “If we’re going to do it, we should go all out. I mean, like, see if we can get a book printed for her to read.”
“We can try that,” he agreed. “That might take a while, but it’ll be worth it.”
You sighed happily, throwing your arms around him and pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“I love you, Lu,” you murmured. “Eden will be so excited.”
…
The process of figuring everything out took a while, designing the character and writing the story, as expected, but you finally had your princess.
Her name was Princess Cherry, named after one of Eden’s favorite foods, and she had bright red hair, designed to both fit her name and resemble Eden’s favorite princess, Ariel. Of course, she had a cochlear implant, bright white to stand out against her hair. The story you came up with was that Princess Cherry loved music, but issues with her ears made it hard for her to accomplish her dreams. She gets teased and told she’ll never be able to become a musician, but then she gets her cochlear implant and becomes the best musician in all the land. You wanted to make it so Eden could relate to it and be inspired by it, and you thought you did a pretty good job of that.
Now that the physical copy of the story was made, Luke was beyond excited to have Eden see it. The bullying was still continuing, and there had been a few times that you or Luke caught her trying to pull off the cochlear implant herself, but you were hoping that it would stop now that you had Princess Cherry.
One Saturday, when Calum took Rowan and Teddy to play at the park with his son, Kai, you and Luke decided to show Eden the story. Luke grabbed the book from your bedroom and headed downstairs to the living room, where Eden was sitting on the floor with her Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal that she loved so much, bouncing it around and softly talking to herself.
“Hey, sweetie,” Luke cooed as he walked, you trailing behind him with your phone at the ready, wanting to capture the moment on video. Everyone who contributed was so proud of what they had created, and made sure to ask you two to film. “We got a new story for you. Do you want Daddy to read it to you?”
She nodded excitedly, quickly climbing onto the couch with Winnie the Pooh in hand and cuddling up next to Luke who had also sat down, peering at the book in his hands.
“This story is called Princess Cherry,” he began, pausing and glancing at her to see if she noticed yet.
It took her a moment of looking at the picture on the cover, but her elated gasp told him that she noticed.
“Daddy! Look! Like me!” She exclaimed, pointing to the cochlear implant on the princess. The bright smile on her face brought tears to yours and his eyes, but you held it together.
“Yeah, Eden, like you!”
Luke took a deep breath and continued reading, letting her turn the pages as he always did when he read to her and glancing at her face every once in a while to see her reactions. She was beyond intrigued, eyes wide as she listened and examined the pictures. The smile never left her face. She was in awe, seeing a beautiful princess in a book that was like her.
“Princess Cherry sang for all the townspeople, and they were enchanted by her beautiful voice, and everyone danced with her. Even though everyone told her she could never be a musician, her cochlear implant allowed her to do anything she wanted,” he said, concluding the story. He was barely holding back tears as he looked down at her once more, and she smiled widely up at him.
“I love it, Daddy!” She giggled, big blue eyes shining. “She’s like me!”
“She is like you,” he mumbled, running his hand through her curls. “And see how beautiful and talented she is? You can be just like her, sweetie. You can do anything you put your mind to.”
She threw her arms around his neck instead of replying, and he easily held her against him. He was so happy and proud, and he had a good feeling that Princess Cherry was going to have a positive effect on Eden for a long time. She asked him to read the story to her every single night, and he was glad to do so, even when it got to the point he didn’t even need the actual book because he had it memorized. But, Eden loved to look at the pictures and turn the pages, so he always got it out for her.
Eden was hesitant to show it to her class at first, thinking it would only make them tease her more. But after you and Luke convinced her that it would make them see how good the implant is, she agreed, and Luke emailed her teacher and politely asked her to read it to the class, and she thankfully agreed.
It seemed to work, as Eden had stopped coming home in tears and said that the kids actually apologized for being mean.
Eden would never forget Princess Cherry for years to come.
Invisible Knight
Pairing: Sam x Reader
Warnings: Angst
Word Count: 761
A/N: First angst and first Sam fic. Set up around Season 5, inspired by the song Shiver by Coldplay. Listen here.
A thousand thanks to the amazing @1000roughdrafts for taking the time to Beta and all the encouragement. Truly one of the greats. 💜 Hope y’all like it
📷 cred: to rightful owners
Here’s my full Masterlist if you’d like to read more!☺️
So I look in your direction
But you pay me no attention, do you?
Seven months. That’s how long Sam Winchester has been pining for Y/n.
The Winchester brothers had met Y/N a year ago while hunting demons. As luck would have it, Y/N had been hunting the same group of black-eyed bastards and decided to accept their offer to team up against Satan’s children. Ever since, Sam, Dean, and Y/N had become inseparable; bound together by tragedy, revenge, and a desire to save as many innocent folk as humanly possible.
It had started off with innocuous flirting every now and then, but soon enough Sam began developing feelings for the strong, amazing Y/N. She was not like any of the girls that Sam had met lately. No, Y/N was different. She was not only an exceptional hunter with sharp instincts and a hell of a right hook, but she was also incredibly intelligent, rivaling his own talents when it came to research and lore knowledge. Caring and sweet nearly to a fault, but able to switch on a dime in order to protect the innocent with intense ferocity, should the situation call for it. Add to that the fact that she was absolutely beautiful, with luscious (Y/H/C) locks, perfectly shaped lips, and bright (Y/E/C) eyes that could make him feel as though he could get lost in them and be completely happy.
Yes, Sam was in trouble the second Y/N stepped into his life, a feeling he’d only experienced once before with his college girlfriend Jessica. Not that he could hope to have the type of relationship with Y/N that he’d been lucky to have with Jessica before her tragic, untimely death.
Unfortunately, any romantic relationship with Y/N was not in the cards for Sam. In fact, he had resigned himself to the fact that he would be nothing more than a friend to Y/N, for it was not him she loved but his brother, Dean. As fate would have it, Y/N had fallen for the elder Winchester and there was no way to change her heart, or her mind for that matter. Even though Dean treated her as no more than a friend, perhaps even a little sister, Y/N found herself fully dedicated to the green-eyed hunter; and in a twisted plot by life to further crush his soul, Sam had become Y/N’s most trusted friend, which meant that he was now her shoulder to cry on whenever Dean took home other women without so much as looking Y/N’s way.
Yet, Sam couldn’t bring himself to resent her for loving Dean instead. After all, Dean wasn’t the Demon-blood freak that had popped Lucifer out of his cage and kick-started the Apocalypse. Despite all his faults, Dean was the better choice; someone that would never abandon his family to go on some pointless goose chase for the unobtainable apple-pie life. Someone that wouldn’t choose a demon over his loved ones, that would always do right by his own no matter the consequences.
I’ll be there by your side
Just you try and stop me
I’ll be waiting in line
Just to see if you care
There were times, when Dean was away at some bar, that Sam could almost see a sign that Y/N may feel something for him too. Perhaps in the way her touch lingered on his forehead after helping cut his hair, or the brief moments of eye contact that made him feel as though they were the only two humans left on earth. But those short-lived moments came and went quickly before he could ascertain any hidden feelings she might hold for him.
So, instead of dwelling on absurd notions of reciprocity, Sam remained Y/N’s faithful friend, nothing less and, sadly, nothing more. Silently loving her from a distance, yearning for her unattainable touch.
And it's you I see, but you don't see me
And it's you I hear, so loud and clear
I sing it loud and clear
And I'll always be waiting for you
Even though it crushed him to see Y/N suffer, Sam continued to stay by her side; an invisible knight in shining armor always at the ready to pick up the pieces left by his brother’s latest meaningless conquest. In spite of the sadness, anger, and disappointment, Sam couldn’t help but stay and help glue her heart back together every time; even if she couldn’t do the same for him.
Help Me Understand
Word Count: 2k-ish Pairing: Dean x Lisa, Dean x Reader Warnings: Angst, cursing, mutual pining, cheating
A/N: Hey, ya’ll! Long time, no fic, amirite? Anyway - I’m back again, though you may wish I’d just stayed away. ;) This was written for @rockhoochie’s Love Supernatural Style challenge. My prompt was “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney and Wings (x). Congrats on your milestone! This takes place around Season 6.
Beta’d by the always lovely and very talented @shy-violet-soul. Thanks for the love and support, sweet cheeks! *hugs*
Help Me Understand
Another night, another hunt, another smug smile from the green eyed man seated across the room from me. It’s not aimed at me; not this time anyway. No, that smile - that toothy, eye-crinkling, “light up the room” smile - it’s for her. I scoff, bringing the bottle to my lips and taking a swig, desperate to look anywhere but at his arm, curled possessively around her shoulders, or his lips as he brushes them gently against her temple.
I wish I could make myself leave; walk away and have literally anything else to look at besides them. But if I do, it would raise questions I’m not ready or willing to answer. It’s easier to stay here, glued to this seat, pretending to celebrate the end of a long-ass hunt than face the fallout of my abrupt departure.
Her laugh is bright - throaty and full of joy - as Dean whispers in her ear, her fingers fisting in the front of his shirt and her head thrown back.
I have no right to feel the stab of jealousy as it twists into my side, steals the air from my lungs, burns at the back of my eyes. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s quickly paired with a gut wrenching, nauseating pang of guilt. The feelings aren’t new - haven’t been for longer than I care to admit. But their intensity hasn’t lessened over time.
I focus my attention on the flimsy, brightly colored coaster protecting the already blemished wood of the table from the condensation dripping down my beer bottle.
I can feel it. I don’t know how, but I can and I know if I look up, I’ll find a pair of moss colored eyes focused on me, despite the girl tucked under his arm.
There was a time when the pull of his gaze felt too heavy to ignore, or maybe I was just unwilling to try. This pain, though - it’s hardened my resolve; the constant friction has calloused a part of me. These days, I’ve found I can refuse him the satisfaction of direct eye contact, though I can’t be sure how much is out of self-preservation and how much is full-on, unbridled bitterness.
I wish I could say it wasn’t always this way; that the years of working together had formed this indelible bond between us. But it was there from the moment we met. The memory of that day is so vivid in my mind, I can practically feel the sizzle of electricity between us as our hands touched the first time. I may not have known the exact road that lay ahead, but I could read the road signs enough to know that things could only end one way.
Our interactions were largely professional at first. He’d call, asking for some help on a case - sometimes vice versa - both of us eager to help the other. We’d talk about the victims, the M.O., lore, but even then, the tension was there, bubbling under the surface but neither of us addressed it. In fact, there were a multitude of things left unsaid between Dean and I.
One night, a few months back, I’d mentioned the possibility of getting out of this life; trying to find some semblance of normalcy. He’d nodded as he listened, the cold air of the evening enveloping us as we sat on the hood of his Impala. Despite the dark, I could make out the way his throat convulsed as the moon reflected the shine of unshed tears in his eyes.
That was the closest we’ve gotten to addressing the elephant in the room. As the conversation drifted on to other things - Sam, the Campbells, her - he stopped, sucking in a breath and looking away from me.
“Life is weird,” he began, his breath hanging in the air. He licked his lips, eyes cast downward. “It’s like, ya know, you’ll never see yourself the way I see you. Your voice sounds completely different to me than it does to your own ears.”
Silence followed.
What could I say? Maybe it was just a brief moment of introspection, but it felt heavy.
Something had shifted then. He started calling me late at night - sometimes short conversations about the mundane, sometimes lengthy discussions about what was going on with Sam. I think he felt lost; alone. Finding out Sam’s soul was gone broke part of him, and there was only so much he could talk about with Lisa. She wasn’t raised in this life. He needed someone who understood, but someone who could provide an objective opinion. I guess that someone was me.
Lisa’s laugh carries across the room again. Glancing up, I watch as she stands, shaking her head and grabbing empty beer bottles in each hand. Just as she starts toward the bar, Dean’s hand shoots out, gripping her wrist and pulling her down for a quick kiss. She giggles when Dean slaps her ass playfully as she walks away.
Before I can look away, his eyes lock on mine. As much as I want to ignore the tingle running down my spine at the pleading expression on his face, I can’t. And that’s what propels me to my feet, the chair creaking backward abruptly and me knee banging on the underside of the table. My nearly empty beer bottle wobbles precariously before tipping over completely, the remaining liquid splashing against my thigh. Gathering my coat and purse, I reach inside to grab a few crumpled bills and throw them on the table. I don’t look back as I make my way to the exit, but hearing the sound of shuffling behind me hastens my steps. I’m desperate to feel the kiss of winter air against my flushed skin.
“Y/n.” Dean’s voice is muffled as the front door swings back in place behind me. Maybe it hit him in the face.
I rifle blindly through the contents of my purse, anxious to find my keys somewhere in the mess. Just as my fingers close on the metallic ring, a hand grips my arm, halting my steps.
“Y/n?” Dean sounds slightly breathless.
Though I’ve stopped, I haven’t turned around and frankly, I don’t plan to. As though he realizes this, his grip tightens as he pulls me around to face him.
Lines of worry and confusion furrow his brow and his lips are pressed together in a harsh line as he searches my face.
He tries again, his voice low. “Y/n. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. It’s just getting late.” A carefully practiced smile curves my lips as I gently pull my arm from his hold. “I think I hear my bed calling my name. Goodnight Dean.”
“Y/n, wait. Please?” The pleading look I’d seen from him inside seems to have found a voice, the words thick on his tongue.
“What?” My response is more clipped than I mean for it to sound. Sighing, I try again. “What do you need, Dean.”
His mouth moves silently, stopping and starting as though he’s weighing his answer carefully. The muscle in his jaw flexes under his scruffed cheek.
“I’m sorry.”
The words are so soft, I wonder for a moment if I’d imagined them, but the look in his eyes shows me I didn’t.
“Sorry for what?” I try for oblivious, but it just sounds tired.
The dull roar of the bar behind him echoes around us, and Dean looks back to find two men stumbling out of the building toward the patio, probably to smoke. Wordlessly, he pulls me behind a large dumpster and out of view from anyone coming out of the bar. The pleading look I’d seen before is back, his eyes flicking across my face as he steps closer.
My heart is beating violently inside my chest due to his proximity and his scent is overwhelming - beer and gunpowder mixed with something musky and clean. Then, it happens. It’s simultaneously the best and the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life.
His lips are soft against mine and a stark contrast to the bristles of his beard against my cheek. It’s slow - not demanding, or full of fiery passion. A sigh passes from my lungs to his as he tilts his head to one side. I know it’s wrong. I know this is exactly what was never supposed to happen, but it is. It is, and there’s no point holding back now.
I flick the tip of my tongue against the crease of his lips, and he moans, opening up to me as he pulls me closer - one hand in my hair and the other in a crushing grip against my hip. He tastes like beer and home, and my heart aches at how right it feels and at the same time, so wrong.
The sob that bursts from my chest ends it and I pull back, dropping my gaze to the ground to hide the tears. Dean just pulls me against him, pressing my face against his chest and rubbing soothing circles against my back. He shudders, pressing his lips against my hair.
When I can finally catch my breath, I pull free and step back. He doesn’t try to stop me, just lets his hands drop to his sides, sighing.
“Why?”
It’s one word; three letters to try to unravel everything between us.
Dean pulls his bottom lip between his teeth and takes a deep, shuddering breath before speaking.
“I feel like these last few months, there’s been this thing,” he sighs, “between you and I. I don’t understand it. It’s like you’re the only person in the world who really sees me. Sometimes it feels incredible, and sometimes it’s so damn scary I can hardly breathe.”
When I don’t answer he scrubs a hand across his face, huffing out a breath.
“I’m so fucking stupid,” he mutters.
“What about Lisa?” Dropping my gaze to the ground, I cross my arms tightly, trying to hold myself together against the crack in my chest. I don’t know whether he’s hurt or angry, but I can’t look at him as he scoffs.
“I love her.” His voice catches.
The crack in my chest deepens, and I curse myself as another sob breaks from my lungs.
“I can’t help it. I do.” Dean pauses, gripping my chin and forcing me to look at him. The sight of tears trailing down his cheeks catches my breath. “But I love you, too. And honestly, it terrifies the shit out of me. I know, it’s so goddamn selfish, but I can’t lose you.”
“Well, Dean. You can’t have it both ways,” my voice trembles, but I continue. “It’s not fair to me, and it’s sure as hell isn’t fair to her.”
“I know.” He releases my chin and rakes his hand through his hair, tugging violently on the short strands. “I know. I’m sorry.”
And there it is. The answer I always knew, but never wanted. It will never be me - at least not while she’s around; it can’t be. No good can come of me staying. I can’t be responsible for her heartbreak, no matter how shattered my own heart is and no matter how selfish I wish I could be. I straighten my shoulders and suck in a steadying breath.
“Goodbye, Dean.”
I don’t wait for a response before striding past him. The cacophony of the bar fills the night once again, and I know before I ever hear her voice.
“Dean? You out here?” It’s clear from her tone that she’s clueless, and I’m grateful for that, at least.
I wrench the door of my truck open, tossing everything across the seat before climbing inside and shutting the door. It’s fitting, I realize as I look up to see Dean striding to meet her. The door is finally closed for good and, despite the ache in my chest, I feel relief wash over me. Some doors are just better closed.
Fallen Leaves- Fireflies Pt2
SO THIS IS GOING TO BE A FOUR PART FOUR SEASON SERIES. fireflies was summer, Fallen leaves will be Fall and There will be a winter/christmas then spring version. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK
HERE’S PT1 if you haven’t read it https://idkhyuck.tumblr.com/post/186835769930/fireflies-nct-dream-fanfic-pt1-i-couldnt-shake
OT6 DREAM BESTFRIEND!READER Y/N is still struggling with her feelings for Chenle a few months after the Camping trip. An opportunity arises for her to tell him. Does Chenle feel the same way I woke up and reached for my phone. “We’re home in a week pack your bags!!” from Jisung to our group chat.
“huh?” i sent back, Then he sent back the video of him and Chenle in Shanghai “still not getting it.” i said “you’re going on a trip with Chenle
“WE ALL ARE!” Jaemin said “We’re going to Shanghai!” He said
“WHAT?!” i sent back just as my phone rang with a FT from Chenle “WHAT?!” i answered it, my voice cracking because i was still half asleep
“no need to be that excited.” I hear Renjun in the background.
“shut up.” i groaned into the phone.
“we leave the day after we get back.” Chenle said with his big smile on his face
“What i have to buy my ticket.”
“already bought.” Chenle said.
“for real?!” i asked
“Yup.” He said smiling at me “go to sleep. you look tired.”
“I’m just waking up. Shut up.” i said sitting up. “good luck tonight.” i said “RENJUNNIE FACETIME ME AFTER THE SHOW! I NEED TO BRUSH UP ON MY MANDARIN!” i said hopefully loud enough for him to hear.
“Fine.” he said followed by “ah this girl it never ends.” in mandarin
“hey!” i said “i got that!” pouting into the phone
“good!’ he said as Chenle threw a pillow at him.
“We’ll talk more about our plans later. okay?” Chenle asked
“yeah of course”:
“k. see you soon.” He said then he was gone. I laid back down. Wow, our trip was finally happening.We talked about this for years! Chenle has had dreams about it It was finally happening. I thought back to the last time we talked about it. It was on the camping trip Renjun had wanted to go out and look at the stars by the lake before we left the next day, Chenle and i tagged along everyone else was at the camp relaxing. It was fine Renjun spent the first bit talking about the sky and constellation and usual Renjun stuff then he fell asleep.
I went to shake Renjun’s arm but chenle’s hand on my shoulder stopped me, i turned to him. He was looking at me with sparkly eyes
“Let him sleep for a bit.” he said then laid back and patted the spot beside him on the blanket. I shifted over away from Renjun and sat beside Chenle Hugging my knee looking down at him “He’s gonna drive back he’s probably tired.” he said i nodded “It really is beautiful.” chenle said with a sigh as he placed his folded hands behind his head. He looked so grown up, His chest was getting broad. The little bit of muscle in his arm. His super sharp Jawline. I couldn’t help but think back to the night after the lake and how he felt so warm against me as we shared a towel as we walked back to the camp. I blinked the thoughts away and looked up at the stars.
“I’m so glad we did this.” i said “i’ll never forget this trip.” i said
“Lets hope we can do Shanghai soon.” he said then there was a flash and a click of my polaroid camera. i looked down to see him holding it towards me. I couldn’t help but smile. “you need to be in the pictures too.” he said i could tell he was blushing even in the moonlight. His pale skin was so light.
“What will we do in Shanghai?” i asked him.
“We can eat, We can play games. We can go to the parks and play basketball.” he said. i looked down at him
“take me on the boat?”
“We can do the boat.” he said “you’ll love the view. It’s so pretty.” He said smiling at me. i looked away and back up at the sky
“I can’t wait.” i said. “Do you miss it often?” i asked him
“sometimes.” he said “but i get so busy, i don’t have time to be homesick. and like when i go there i get homesick for here.” he said quietly “it’s a never ending cycle. My heart is in two places and i’m perfectly okay with that.”he said “i want to experience it with you guys so like it kind of puts and end to that separation of the two things that mean the most to me.” he said.
“I get that.” i said “it’d be nice to see all the things you talk about.” i said “get to know that chenle a bit.” i said
“YOU already know me though.” He said.
“I know.” i said smiling at him “i’m thankful for that.” I said as i laid down beside him with a little space between us.
“You think you’re future girlfriend will hate me?” i asked him
“nah. if she does, she’s not worth it.”
“CHENLE!” i said half loudly so i wouldn’t wake Renjun elbowing his arm “She could be you’re soulmate and still hate me.”
“We’re friends. Anyone in my life has to accept that.” he said “fan’s too.” he said
“fan’s scare me.” i admitted. “I think that’s why i like it here so much. No one even knows us. knows you guys. no staff constantly watching, No need to be on my best bahaviour like in school. No need to be careful in public. just us being us.” i said
“It’ll be like this in Shanghai too.” he said. “My house is safe.” He said patting my arm. i felt my arm hair stand up and goosebumps form and hoped he didn’t notice.
“That’ll be nice.” i said
“Home is kind of my safe place.I’m able to separate this a bit more.” he said waving his arms “Like yes i was famous there and i had the whole career but like this is so much more than i ever imagined it could be.” he said “And it’s only starting.”
“You were meant to be a star.” i said to him
“ah.” he said waving his hand at me.
“i’m serious.” i said “We’re just little tiny stars all in the universe and you’re one of the ones that shines bright like those ones.” i said pointing up hoping he’d giggle at my cheesiness. a small laugh and a shove later i continued, i could feel him blushing beside me. “all of you guys are meant to be doing what your doing. so incredibly talented and hard working. Chenle. you debuted in 3 months.” i said “you’re amazing.” i said turning to see him looking at me. “I’ll always be your biggest fan.” i said
“you were our first.” he laughed looking me in the eye his eyes lit up. I honestly though he was going to kiss me. My heart was kind of starting to race.
“and i’ll be your last.” i said quietly, pulling my eyes away sitting up so i could breathe normally Idk why we have this insane chemistry all of a sudden. “I can’t wait to see your safe space.” i said to him as he sat up and hugged his knees. He passed me my camera. I took one of him sitting there. he started protesting, causing renjun to stir and wake up.
“how long have i been asleep?” he asked
“a few minutes.” Chenle lied “Let’s go back. It’s late.” renjun still looked at his clock confused. i looked down at my phone, at least an hour had passed. wow it didn’t feel like it. I wonder why Chenle lied about the time but i didn’t want to think too much into it. We made out way back to camp chenle and i falling into sync behind Renjun who led the way back. I’d sneak glances at him as he walked. he would smile at me and look away. I often thought about that night and wondered if just maybe he liked me too.
I looked out the window as we landed. We were finally in Shanghai. Staying at Chenle’s house for two weeks. The boys fresh off tour needing a break. We were going to eat dinner at Chenle’s place his mom as here getting everything ready for us. tomorrow we’d go out to eat and go to the theme park Him and Jisung went to last time. We all excitedly got our bags at the airport. Again no staff, it was weird. I was able to sneak through the airport in seoul with them. they put a black mask on me and a huge hat and put my hair up. i walked between Jeno and Jisung so i wouldn’t be too visible. The bodyguards escorted us to our plane and left us on our way. i’ve never been in that kind of pandemonium before. and this was for a private schedule, I didn’t even want to think of public schedule. Flashes and flashes of cameras. Trying to get close. I just looked down the whole time and kept pace with the boys. once on the plane i was able to breathe. I don’t know how they did that. It was so freeing being in the shanghai airport with them no staff, no fans from what i could tell. No camera’s We made our way out to our car.
“it’s so cool!” i said to chenle who sat up front.
“it gets better!” He said. He spent the whole ride telling us random facts about all the places we passed. He’s really taking on a leadership role in the planning of this trip and it makes my heart swell. We pulled up to his house and his mom was already cooking it was all you could smell when you walked in and it was amazing. We all said our hellos and made our way up into the rooms they had set up for us. We all played rock paper scissors to decide who slept where. Jaemin, Renjun, Haechan and I were in the spare room while Jeno and Jisung got to sleep in Chenle’s room. There were bed mats for us to us and blankets and pillows.
“This will be so much comfier than the camping trip.” i said as i laid out on my mat.
“I was sore for a week.” Haechan said as he placed himself in the middle of the room.
“I don’t know why mattress pads didn’t cross our minds while shopping.” Jaemin said as he shoved his bag against the wall behind him. We all slowly made our way into Chenle’s room. We all played around with all of his things. I sat on the Piano Bench beside him as he played the piano he had in the corner of his room. He was playing the softest most beautiful melody. I forgot the others were here until Haechan sat on the other side of him shoving us over and me off the bench
“My turn.” he said i steadied myself and went over and shoved him over as he was playing making him mess up his song.
“We need to go to a gaming cafe here.” Jeno said as he laid on the bed he made on the floor.
“We can do that.” Chenle said as he got up from the bench. He turned on his TV and we flipped through the channels. Chinese TV was so different yet. I struggled to pick up on the words and i had been studying with Renjun for the past week. We ended up leaving it on some Cartoon we’ve all seen at least 100 times since childhood. We played with a deck of cards for like an hour while listening to music. Chenle’s mom called us down and we were all so impressed with the spread of food she had out. I’ve had dinner at Chenle’s house before so i recognized some of the dishes but some were new to me and i was so excited to try it out. I brought my polaroid to dinner and held it up asking chenle’s mom for permission she nodded and i started taking pictures of everything. The food, The boys making thier plates. Chenle’s mom looking at us all proud. I sat down with my plate in front of me. i didn’t know where to start, it looked so good. We all dug in and ate while talking about all the things we wanted to do tomorrow. It as late and by time i was done eating i was ready for bed. i thanked Chenle’s mom and took my pictures and went up to put them in my album i looked back at the ones of the summer. Us on the camping trip. My favourite is the one i took of chenle the night we were by the lake. I turned out so well, i could never find the one he took of me. it must have blew away when we were cleaning up our campsite. I put all my new ones in my album.
“we’re gonna play for awhile. wanna join?” Jaemin asked as he came in and grabbed his pajamas from his bag
“I’m exhausted and full.” i said “i’m going to go to bed.”
“night!” he said as he walked out into the next room. I took out my jammies and went into the bathroom to get ready for bed. i washed my face up and put my hair up. I made my way back out to the room and heard the boys yelling and playing. I fell asleep fast the night out of exhaustion from the excitement
“I wanna do it!” I said excitedly looking up at Chenle as we stared at the Rollercoaster above us.
“are you sure?” Jeno asked, i nodded and grabbed both their hands and went to stand in line. Jeno pulled his hand from mine to grab his phone out of his pocked but Chenle left his and I liked it. His hand was warm in mine and as much as i enjoyed it, i pulled away to turn and look at the line in front of us. The rollercoaster boomed above us and i jumped
“You’re not scared already.” Jeno teased from behind me. i turned to glare at him. It wasn’t long before we were locked into the potential death trap. My heart was kind of racy as we started rolling out onto the track. We zoomed a few times i didn’t mean to scream but i did. I looked to see Jeno laughing beside me and Chenle having the time of his life on the other side of me. I was clinging to the restraint for dear life. We neared one of the peaks the coaster started slowing, inching closer to the top, my heart really racing now in my ears. i looked out at how high we were. I could feel the tension in the air as we climbed slowly my stomach dropping with each inch. Chenle must have sensed my fear because suddenly he as taking my hand in his. my heart racing for a whole new reason now when suddenly WHOOSH!
“AHHHHH!” was all you heard as the coaster whipped us around the track, My eyes were buring at the speed, My hair a mess behind me. The wind hitting my face so hard i was sure my lips were flapping. The rest of the ride was a blur of zooming around and up and down and all i really cared about was the warm hand holding mine. I unintentionally squeezed a few times. He would squeal from beside me and we’d laugh but he never took it back. When we came to a stop i didn’t want to let go but he was pulling away to undo his straps. i did the same. My head was kind of spinny, and i felt so incredibly high on life. The adrenaline in my veins pumping like crazy. I hopped up and went running
“JAEMINNIE! THAT WAS AMAZING!” I said as i ran up behind him hugging him. He pulled me around front and held me at arm’s lenght
“Are you sure? did the ride knock you out?” he asked shaking me around laughing.”How many fingers?” he asked holding up his hand. i shoved him off as Haechan, Jisung and Renjun approached us with drinks for everyone.
“You guys are missing out!” Chenle said as he took his drink from Jisung. Jisung looked at it as it took off again shook his head no. We all started walking again. The park was pretty empty today. I think it was because school had started and it was fall. It was a really nice fall day, Sunny warm. i didn’t need a jacket. The sun not quite as high as it used to b but still shining bright. We ate at a hotpot place before we came here. It was so good. It was mid afternoon.
“Can we please ride this?” I turned to ask them as they all looked at the carousel with varying degrees of disgust. “please?” i asked cutely
“ugh fine.” Jeno said as he walked towards the line
“never do that again.” Renjun said pretending to gag, I grabbed him from behind and said
“but i love Renjunie.” in the most disgustingly cute voice i could muster.
“AGH!” he said triyng to shove me off.
“Meanie.” i said letting go and reaching for Jaemin “At least Jaemin loves me.” i said standing beside him pouting as he put his arm around me. Renjun laughed at me and rolled his eyes and pulled me away from jaemin into his arms. He held me close to him as we made our way to the front of the line. and let me go as it was our turn to enter. I grabbed haechan’s hand and led him towards the horses in the middle. Jisung and Chenle followed and argued about the horse in front of me. We all chose horses on one side. Skinship with these boy was something i was so used to. What i was not used to was the new feeling i got from being cuddly and touchy with chenle. It was never this bad even with the other boys when i liked them. I know that’s just mr overthinking into liking him and that scared me. Like he obviously doesn’t feel it and i need to work on getting over him.
The ride started the soft music playing above us as the horses went up and down. I took my camera and took pictures of each boy on their horses. We were all having fun going around the carousel. this was the most carefree i’ve seen them in a long time. They worked so hard after we got back that summer to prepare for comeback. They still had their final concert for this comeback in Korea just before Christmas. I could tell they weren’t worried about work for once and just living in the moment laughing and teasing each other. I was so grateful they were able to do this. The ride went be all to fast. and we were back on our hunt through the park
“Let’s play some games.” Renjun said as we passed huge section of carnival games.
“This one first” Jisung said going up to a basketball game.
“I’m no good at basketball!” i postested.
“We can be a team.” Chenle offered, He was the best and we all knew it. i nodded at him. The rest of the boys all lined up at thier baskets me beside Chenle. he winked at me as the balls dropped. They all started shooting their balls into the baskets. Jeno and Jaemin we’re aguing over a ball that got away from someone. Jisung was really focused. Renjun and Haechan shoving each other trying to make the other miss. I turned to see Chenle had the lead.
“Come on!” i said cheering him on, He was trying really hard not to smile and keep focusing. The time was running out there was 5 seconds left he shoved a ball at me. I flung it. and watched it fall through the hoop as the buzzer rang. He still won without my help but he was excitedly screeching as we won. I could hear the boys behind me. “OH MY GOD!” I said turning to see everyone
“she actually got one in!” Jaemin said excitedly.
“I think you deserve this.” Chenle said handing me our prize. An orange dolphin.
“Aw it’s cute!” i said “Thank you!” I said looking up at him, His orange hair now fading. “Like you.” i teased him reaching up to pat his head and laughed as the boys all cackled behind me, him turning various shades of pink. ““Let’s do this one next.” I said pointing to a shooting game. We spent the next three hours playing games. We all ended up with one prize or another. Haechan got a small honey colour bear at one of the games and he gave it to me too. I clung to both of them as we sat down in the Food truck area.
“I saw a sign for fireworks.” Renjun said walking over with a cup of ice cream and sat beside me. I looked at him then the spoon, the him again. He sighed and shoved a spoonful towards me.
‘”We should stay!” Jisung said “it’s getting dark anyway.” A shiver ran up my spine. The Fall air now blowing in as the sun set.
“it’s gettting cold.” i said another shiver threatening to escape me. i looked around at all of them wearing long sleeve t-shirts not bothered by the cold.
“Well you should have dressed right.” Haechan said.
“it was so nice!” i said protesting as i turned down another spoon of ice cream from renjun.
“you’re cold?” Chenle asked as he sat down across the table with a plate of donuts. i nodded.
“give her your hoodie.” Jaemin said.”we don’t have anything.”
“oh yeah.” he said taking off his hoodie to reveal a tighter white long sleeve underneath. “here.” he said throwing it across the table.
“thank you” I said grabbing it and slipping into it. I hoped to god my face was straight;. It was warm like him, The sleeves long and stretched because he’s always pulling them over his hands.I pulled them over my hands and cuddled into it as i zipped up
“better?” Jeno asked as he stood up. “Let’s go get something to eat.” He said to me and Jaemin. I got up and followed beside him, He suddenly came to a stop once we were on the other side of the rest area. “do you like Chenle?” he asked. I was shocked. Maybe i wasn’t as good at hiding it as i thought.
“WHAT?!” i asked shocked. as Jaemin just gave me a look
“he knows.” Jaemin said.
“you told him?!” i asked him
“no he found out on his own.”
“tell him!!” Jeno said
“why?” i asked
“Because Jaemin and i think he might like you too.” Jeno said.
“you’ve discussed this.”i said flatly. staring at them as they both looked guilty
“I’ve come up with a tiny plan.” Jeno said
“oh god.” i said nervous for his tiny plan
“Okay so Chenle said he’s planning to take us on the city boat ride thingy because you asked. “i’m going to get the others to stay behind so it’s just you two!” he said “on the boat in the pretty city lights.” i blushed as he said all this “see i knew you’d like it.
“how will you get the others to stay. you won’t tell them right?” i asked him worried
“no i’ll suggests a gaming tournament or something at his house.” He said. I looked up at him unsure “it’ll be fine.” he said
“and if he doesn’t like me?” i asked him.
“Then you stay friends.” He said.
“WHY are you and Jaemin so sure we’ll remain friends through all of this.”
“Because You’ve like every single one of us and you’re still here and completely over it.”
“what?!” i said “not everyone.” I said looking down. “DOES Jaemin just tell you everything?! do you gossip in a group chat or something?” i said annoyed but half laughing. “:worse than old women.” i said walking away from him.
“Not everything.” Jaemin said from behind me, i sighed as i walked up to a place that sold american street food. I picked a hot dog and fries. The boys wouldn’t shut up about american hot dogs when they got back.
Chenle’s POV.
I watched as she walked ahead of us towards the firework viewing area. She was wearing my hoodie, And it looked so good on her. I’m kind of glad none of the other boys had a hoodie with them. I hated that i liked her like this. The first girl I get a real crush on and it’s her. I can pin point the exact moment. We were at the SM christmas party dancing, some slow song came on. She looked up at me through her lashes. Her eyes met mine and goosebumps formed all over my body.
“when did you get so tall?” She asked me. I’d grown quite a few centimeters that fall and she was just noticing. It made me happy. I left for China the next day and wondered if she still thought of me as a child. I brought her back that candy and i almost kissed her in that moment but didn’t because oh my god we were best friends. She was a whole year older than me. There was no way she could like me. but she’d tease me. I was still busy pining after her well into the summer. We went on our camping trip, I watched as she slept on Jeno’s shoulder on the van ride there. I hated that it made me jealous. I loved the moments we shared on that trip. Talking in the early morning while everyone slept. She had a crush on Haechan in the past so it wasn’t exactly like she was pining over me like she did him. But the Crush on Jeno surprised me. I would have never guessed. I learned that she had like both of them and it bugged me. I hated that i felt this way, Why did i have to have a crush on her of all people. Her perfect pretty smile Her kind eyes. Her soft hands that make my heart go crazy. You don’t fall in love with you’re best friend. I tried so hard to like other girls in school, At the office. even fans. Nothing could stop me at this point. I still have that picture i took of her of that night at the lake with Renjun. I always wondered if she lost it. She always looked so content flipping through her little albums. I loved when she took pictures of us.I hate that she can be so openly cuddly with the members and it doesn’t affect them but the moment she makes the tiniest contact with me my heart starts racing and i feel all warm and blushy. I wished i was better at hiding my blush because she thinks it the cutest thing.
“here!” Jisung said sitting himself down on the cement “This is a good spot.” he said patting the ground around him. I went and sat beside him. My arms were kind of chilly but i didn’t mind because she sat beside me and leaned her head on my shoulder. I tried my best to relax, I debated putting my arm around her but decided against it.
“I’m so tired.” She said hugging her dolphin tightly.I picked that on purpose. I died my hair orange this last comeback, and well a dolphin for obvious reasons. I wondered if she would pick up on it eventually. She lit up when Haechan gave her that bear, i wondered if she still liked haechan
“We did so much today.” Jeno said reading through a flyer he was handed a minute ago.
“I had so much fun.” she said “Thanks.” She said hugging my arm
“for what?” I asked
“for bringing us here” We had about half an hour before the fireworks, The guys sat there on thier phones. I scrolled mine too trying really hard to not overthink her relaxing on my shoulder. Her breathing was getting softer and softer, i heard a tiny snore and so did renjun on the other side of because he started tapping everyone to look over now the blush was really rising. They all started laughing in hushed tones.
“don’t move!” Haecan said quietly getting up. He stood in front of us and was taking pictures on his phone ,He went and sat back down giggling. I couldn’t help but laugh at them as they all gathered around his phone screen to look at the picture. She snored again causing them to lose their shit again. Jaemin took her polaroid from beside her and took one with that.
“you guys!” Jisung said looking at his phone as the picture from Haechan came into our groupchat “She’s going to kill you.” he said giggling. They were having their fun with this and ran off when a drink cart drove by. I decided they wouldn’t notice if i put my arm around her for a little bit. I slowly lifted it up to be behind her. i rested my hand on her arm. much to my surprise she snuggled into me. My breath hitched a little and i was worried i startled her. but she continued snoring softly. I don’t know how often i thought of this. Being this close with her cuddling. Her hair soft against my face, He breathing onto me. Her warmth consuming me entirely. Renjun was the first back from the cart. He was still laughing as he saw us.
“oh she really means business now!” he laughed as he sat back down “wake her up she’ll get scared if the fireworks start.” i shook my hand a little
“Y/N” i whispered close to her ear. it took everything in me not to kiss her forehead. “wake up.” he said
“hmm.” she said stirring “why?” She asked
“fireworks are starting soon! you can cuddle later!” Haechan said loudly as he came back. She shot straight up, i held my hands up i didn’t know what to do. A deep blush rose on her cheek and she looked absolutely adorable as she stuttered half asleep about not cuddling. She picked up the dolphin she had dropped and eyed Renjun’s drink. He sighed as he handed it to her to take a sip. the first firework went off. she reached for her camera started trying to take pictures of the fireworks that were coming up.
“Guys go stand there!” she said. “please?” she said then we all got up and stood in front of her with the fireworks going off behind us. she took three different pictures before someone who was sat behind us offered to take one with her in it. She came and stood in the middle between Jeno and I. She wrapped her arms around me. i couldn’t help but smile huge as i put my arm around her as the flash went off. the moment gone all too quick she ran back and said her thanks the lady and then sat back down with all of her pictures around her. We all went back. The fireworks were really beautiful. Jaemin said
“go stand there we’ll take some of you.” she got up and jaemin handed me the camera with a huge smile. i took it and watched her as she turned towards us making her cute little poses. i took a few. the finale was coming and she got distracted and turned around. everyone was watching the fireworks now. I took out my phone and quickly snapped a picture of her watching them. He face lit up, wrapped up in my hoodie, the glow of the fireworks behind her. God i think i might be in love.
Y/N’s POV
the first week has passed, We ate out more than i could ever imagine i was gonna gain like 20 pounds by time we got back to korea. We went to a few movies, and spent quite a bit of time at the gaming cafe. Jaemin and Jisung took turns letting me play with them even though it usually resulted in them getting killed. Tonight was our boat tour. Jeno has been setting his plan into action and i was freaking out inside the plan was for Jaemin and i to go shopping with Chenle. Then we we got back they’d be all gone so it’d just be us three then Jaemin would come up with a stomach ache last minute and stay home. We pulled up to the mall and made our way inside. The boys went to a few of their favourite stores before they finally let me shop for myself.
“We have an hour and a half before we have to be back.” Chenle said putting his new bucket hat on. i nodded and led them into a clothing store. I scoured the racks really quickly and found a dress i could wear that night. I called jaemin over quickly Chenle tried to come and i told him no
“for tonight?” i whispered to jaemin as he peered through the curtain. It was a dark floral dress that came just above my knees
“won’t you be cold?” he asked me
“i’ll get those knee socks.” i said pointing behind him
“don’t try and kill him all at once now.” Jaemin laughed i just pushed him out and changed back into my sweats.I mulled over that thoughts that chenle could see me in that way my cheeks warm. I had no problem being attracted to him. but these boys never talked about pretty girls or liking things like this, at least not around me all that much. I grabbed a pair of socks and we went to check out. we walked around for a little bit more and i ended up with some new make up.
“We’re leaving in half an hour!” Chenle yelled when we walked into his house. his mom walked in
“They went to the cafe about an hour ago.”
“what?” jaemin said
“yeah, they said that someone invited them to a tournament.”
“ugh stupid boys” i siad pouting
“You guys can still go.” chenle’s mom said “She really wants to see the boat. Take her.” chenle’s mom said in mandarin and he nodded
“we’ll have fun.” he said to me with a huge smile on his face.i nodded pouting a little for emphasis “go get ready.” he nodded at me and i ran up his stairs. once in the comfort of my borrowed room i quickly ripped tags and packaging off of my new clothes and put them on. The socks slouching over my knees just right i slipped into my boots and debated on which jacket to wear. i ended up opting for a sweater. there was a knock on the door. followed by
“it’s me” from Jaemin
“i’m nearly ready.” i said as he walked in, i was starting my make up. i kept it light but did a different coloured lip.
“k i’m gonna go camp in the bathroom til you guys leave.” he said “good luck, you’ve got this.” i was doing my hair when i heard him and chenle yelling at each other. Chenle was getting mad at him for being in the bathroom so long. “fine just the two of us then. We have to go.” He said “y/n! you ready?” He asked i could hear him stomping down the stairs
“coming.” i took a deep breath and went to take a look in he mirror in the corner of the room. I took another deep breath then made my way down the stairs.
“the car will be-” he stopped mid sentence as he looked at me. I swear he stopped breathing oh my god maybe he does really like me.
“huh?” I said pretending not to notice looking down to hide the blush on my cheeks. He looked down really quickly his cheeks started deepening in colour too as he played with the zipper on his backpack.
“it’ll be here any minute.” he said quietly as he slid his backpack on “Jaemin isn’t feeling good so he’s not coming.”
“Just us then.” i said
“yeah” he said “mom we’re going outside.” He yelled “be back in a few hours.” he said as he opened the door for me. The car pulled up and We got in. He sat in the back with me. “you’ve got you camera?” he asked me, i nodded “Mom made me bring blankets and heatpacks.” he laughed as he patted his backpack. “The boat ride itself is really short but the walk along the river after is my favourite part.” He said scrolling through his phone showing me the picture him and jisung had taken. “I’m kind of sad that the others couldn’t make it.” he said “but like also i’m glad i get to take you.” He said quietly “you and i have been talking about this forever now.” he laughed
“I’m excited.” i said “thank you.” i said putting my hand on top of his. he flipped his hand over and offered to hold mine. My heart was racing and i hoped he couldn’t hear it. I thought about when i’d tell him. it wasn’t long before we pulled up to the boat there we’re a few people already lining up and we ran over. “Stand there.” i said pointing to the sign I took a picture. he came an stood beside me. i watched him as he took tickets out of his wallet i thought i caught a glimpse of a polaroid but he shoved it down quickly and put it away. i just noticed that he had changed from our mall trip. He was wearing a black shirt with a denim jacket over and a ball cap. it was simple but he actually took time to change from his grey sweats he was wearing earlier. my heart fluttered as he took my hand and led me onto the boat. he told me where him and jisung were last time and said that we got the better spot this time. He smiled excitedly as the boat started moving away from the shore. I tried my best to hide the nervousness, he was seemingly unaffected by all this and i was obviously over thinking. He pulled me to stand in front of him. and he stood behind me not quite hugging me but leaning in close enough so he could tell me all the different building names and all the different landmarks we passed. I could feel his warmth radiating around me and i was glad for it. The wind was hitting my face alot harder than i thought it would. I couldn’t help the few shivers that escaped
“you cold? “he asked.
“a little i nodded. “stay close.” i said he pulled away and soon i was being wrapped in a blanket i grabbed his arms as he reached around front to keep him there i caught a glimpse of the bracelet i made him on his wrist. he sighed as he placed his head on top of mine and continued his tour guide spiel. I tried my best to relax in his touch, I was so incredibly comforting to have him wrapped around me like this. I thought back to the summer when we were at the lake, I still wanted to turn around and kiss him.
“you listening?” he asked
“hmm.” i said. he turned me in his grip and said
“back there...” but then trailed off as i looked up at him. I could see him swallow hard as our eyes met. He was going to kiss me oh my god He was leaning down his eyes closing. I closed my eyes tried my best to ignore my heartbeat going off in my ears. Out lips met, i froze for a second and so did he but at the same time we settled into the kiss our lips moving against each other gently. His breath hot and sweet, his lips soft against mine. My first kiss and it was with chenle oh my god this was happening. I slowly reached up and wrapped my arms around the back of his neck he moved his hand from my shoulders to behind my back pulling me closer into him.I had no idea chenle could be like this. Like it was still so soft and gentle but like it was not soft platonic touches or cuddling. Goosebumps were forming where ever he touched and i could feel myself warming up. tightly against him it was all too much i couldn’t breathe, reluctantly i pulled away and looked at him. His lips covered in my lipstick, his cheeks red. He took a deep breath in, I quickly pulled him back down to meet my lips again and we kissed a little less cautious this time. My heart is pounding in my ears, i only pulled away because the boat had come to a rough stop at the shore again.
“y/n..” chenle says looking at me worry evident in his eyes as he packed the blanket in the bag
“I need to tell you something” i said grabbing him by the hand, we both bowed to the boat attendant and I led him to a bench by a bush across from the entrance pier. i sat down first and dragged him down with me and quickly said “i like you.” i said looking him in the eye, the blush fading on his face finally the lipstick still smeared a little on his lips “a lot.” i said looking down.
“I do too.” he said quietly. “i mean i kissed you.” he said the blush coming back up on his cheeks
“I was actually going to tell you tonight.” i said looking down. “i’ve liked you for awhile.” i admitted
“SM christmas party.” He said to me
“you knew?”
“no that’s when i started liking you too.” he said his eyes meeting mine. i couldn’t help but laugh “what?” He asked
“We wasted over half a year.” i said
“i guess eh?”he half laughed “do the others know?” He asked
“Jaemin knew and i guess Jeno does too.” i said
“they set us up huh?” he asked. i laughed and nodded “okay. so you want to go on a real date?” He asked “i don’t really know how to do any of this.” he blushed laughing softly “i’ll take you to dinner.”
“i’d like that.”
“After that we can decide if this is really what we want.” he said. I was shocked at the maturity he was showing here.
“i don’t want to lose you.” i said “no matter what happens.” i said looking up at him and grabbing his hand
“you won’t.” he said reassuringly. “Come on let’s go.” He said standing up and leading me down the side walk. “Was that your first kiss?” He asked shyly. i nodded and felt my cheeks warm up, i handed him a tissue and pointed to my lips. He wiped at his and blushed as he looked at the tissue. “Mine too.” he said
“I actually wanted to do that for a long time.” I said quietly
“Me too. i almost did a few times.” he admitted. My mind flashed back to all the lingering stares we’ve shared this past year. I wrapped my arms around his arm and walked.
“i’m glad you did it.” i said
“Me too.” he said wrapping his arm around me. We walked down the sidewalk, He was telling me all the landmarks on the shore. It was as if nothing ever happened but there was a huge sense of relief in me. He knew, I knew. It felt okay. “you look really pretty tonight.” he said quietly
“ah, you’re adorable.” i said laughing. “i picked it just for you.” i said booping his nose and watched as the blush rose on his face.
“Like i picked the dolphin just for you.” he said booping me back he immediately cringed and i couldn’t help but laugh at him still the same old chenle. i looked down and thought back to that day, a whole week earlier, it felt like we’ve been here forever already and i loved it.
“it’s my favourite.”
“What about haechan’s bear.” he asked
“are you jealous?” I teased him
“psh.” he said shrugging it off. My heart was swelling god i just might love him. We made our way back to the car. he was showing me videos him an jisung took last time he was here. we talked and laughed the whole way home. When we got out of the car and before we went into the house he stopped me at the door and pulled me into him. He was so confident now “one for the road.” he said placing a small kiss on my lips, i couldn’t help but laugh as we were walking in. we were met with all the boys standing in the door way
“we were just gonna call you guys.” Jeno said “We won! We won a free meal at this huge restaurant. your mom said it’s one of the nicest ones in shanghai.” He said coming over to show the coupon.
“wow.” Chenle said “i can’t believe you guys ditched us.”
“But you had fun didn’t you?” Jaemin asked looking at me
“yeah! you guys the city is beautiful!” i said “i took tons of pictures.”
“now chenle’s been on dates with both of his best friends.” haechan said laughing as he came into the room with a mouth full of food. Jisung shoved him. “Wow you dressed up for once! i almost didn’t recognize you” haechan said looking at me. “People must have thought you guys were actually on a date.” He laughed i rolled my eyes
“i’m going to go change.” i said
“what no. you look good.” Haechan said as i started stomping up the stairs. “i was just joking.” he said as i heard the guys murmuring and slapping him. I walked into the room and wiped off my make up, i took off my dress and put on my robe
“i’m gonna shower.” i said walking out of the room
“k, we’re going to the convenience store. want something?” Jeno asked
“pick me something good” i yelled down the stairs as i walked into the bathroom. i really was kind of chilly so the warm water felt amazing, i washed my hair softly and tried my best not to think about how happy i was that chenle and i kissed. after i got, i went down and found chenle’s mom sitting on the couch in the living room. i grabbed my bag from the table i put it on and went to sit with her
“You having fun?” she asked me
“yeah.” i said “i had a really good time tonight.” i said as i sorted through my pictures.looking at the one i took of chenle unable to hide my smile
“That’s good.” She said with a smile i wondered if she knew how he felt. “chenle was really excited for this.” she said “i’m glad you went with him.”
“Me too.” i said showing her the pictures. She flipped through them smiling at them.
“I always worry about him.” She said “but i know he has you guys and i know he’ll be okay.” she said
“Thank you for allowing us to stay here.” i said “i can’t thank you enough. You do so much for us already in korea. and now here” i said “i love you.” i said cutely in mandarin while flashing her a finger heart. She laughed and gave me a heart back we actually got along really well from the beginning. She always made sure the boys took care of me.
“I’m glad chenle has you.” she said seriously “you and jisung mean the most to him. you know.” she said i nodded. just then the boys bust through the door laughing loudly as they walked into the living room. Jisung threw a bag at me i opened it and it was full of all of my favourite things
“we’re sorry for ditching you.” Jeno said “please forgive us.” Haechan plopped himself on the couch beside me and offered me a chip out of his bag. his way of apologizing i took it and he smiled at me.
“it’s okay.” i said “here” i said handing them the pictures. They all took turns looking at them and oohing and ahhing over the views. We talked about when we were going to go to the fancy restaurant. The boys replayed their grand win bickering over who got the most important kill. Jaemin told us of his nap. then we all slowly made our way to bed. i fell asleep that night the the orange dolphin a little closer than usual.
Two days had passed. Chenle and i had our date tonight, He didn’t sneak anymore kisses on me. Jaemin was so excited for me and i was actually really excited.
“you guys should tell the others.”
“maybe after we come back.” i said “we still don’t know if we’re gonna be together.” i said
“as if you guys won’t, you’ve been all over each other these past few days.”
“what! no.”i protested.
“Renjun literally asked chenle if you’re in love with him at breakfast this morning.” he said
“well i mean i am but jeez. it isn’t that obvious.”
“ah you’re too far gone.” He said walking out of the room. chenle and i were going to sneak away and then come back later, He told me to meet him out back at 4 and it was 3:55. I opted for leggings and a flowy shirt with a jean jacket tonight. I walked out of the room and down into the halls sneaking by everyone. Jeno and Haechan were playing a game on chenle’s TV Jaemin, Jisung and Renjun were just leaving for the store. Now was the perfect time to leave. i was walking out with my back to yard facing the door in case anyone heard. I backed into something and screamed only for chenle to wrap his arms around me and say shh.
“Sorry.” i said “ i didn’t think you’d be here yet.” I whispered.
“let’s go.” he said. his soft smile meeting his eyes, my heart was fluttering. You always hear those songs about two young lovers running off into the night.
The glow of the flourescent lights harsh above us. Chenle picked his favourite restaurant in all of shanghai for us to eat at. A tiny dive looking place just around the corner from his house. He didn’t bring us here yet. “i was saving it for you.” he said when i asked why he hadn’t brought us here yet.
“you still have my bracelet.” I said as i watched him play with his chopsticks and napkin.
“yeah.” he said blushing looking down. “I’m the only one.” He said “the stylists cut off the others but i’m good at keeping mine hidden.” he laughed “i also have this.” he said taking out his wallet he pulled out a polaroid. “From the night at the lake with renjun.” he said
“you’ve had it all this time?” i asked him. he nodded “i thought we lost it while packing.”
“look at this.” i said showing him his profile picture on my phone it was on of the polaroids i took of him during the camping trip. “you’re the only one with a picture. when you call you light up my phone.” i said. he laughed looking down “too much?” i asked
“no.” he said “I really like you.” he said “i hope you know that.”
“i do too.” i said grabbing his hand
“So are we going to try this out?” he asked looking down then up at me with his soft puppy eyes.
“yes.” i said he kissed me hand
“to seal the deal.” he laughed and just like that i had a boyfriend, my first boyfriend. The first love i’d tell me kids about someday was sitting right in front of me with the biggest smile on his face.
Commission for Confidence, 10
Summary: Y/N has been struggling with her self-esteem for years. After incessant pushing from your best friend, Y/N decides to commission an artist to draw her, expecting everything to happen via Internet. However, when your phone is stolen, you try to cancel the commission, but Peter Parker has other ideas. He quickly becomes enraptured by you, and a friendship forms easily. Will it lead to something more? Or will your past fears get in the way?
A/N: ALRIGHT Y’ALL, HERE IT IS. Omg, I feel like it has been FOREVER since I updated this fic, and I feel so bad!! However, I know it’s because I was working on other stuff, and stuff with life has popped up. I hope you guys like this chapter, I am relatively happy with it. After this one, I’m gonna do a little time skip. It might be a bit before that, though, because I want to do some of the requests I’ve gotten!! Enjoy this chapter and let me know what you think! There’s also some conversing in sign language and I hope I wrote it in a good way! I know that when you’re actually signing a conversation, there are a lot of little filler words that get cut out because that’s obviously the nature of the language, but I wrote the signing as it was meant to be interpreted. Please give me some feedback on how I wrote it if you can, I just want to write well!!!
You can still get on any of my taglists, including my permanent one! If your username has a strikethrough, it means it isn’t working
You woke up to your alarm and groggily pressed snooze. After pressing snooze twice, you sat up with muscles that protested, but nowhere near as loudly as they had that morning. The TV was asking if you were still watching, so you pressed the yes button and stood up.
Checking your phone, you padded to the kitchen and turned on the electric kettle again. There were a few messages, to your surprise.
Monica had texted you multiple times, demanding to know how you were and why you weren’t responding. You realized with a wince that you’d forgotten to tell her about the entire incident the previous day.
The other messages were from Peter, asking you about your snack preferences. They were more recent, thankfully, so you replied to those first.
As you crossed to your room and debated what clothes to wear, you called your best friend. You were unsurprised when she answered on the first ring.
“What the fuck, Y/N?” she demanded immediately.
“Listen, Monica—”
“No, no, you listen!” she interrupted you. “I was scrolling through some apps last night, and I saw a news clip of Spider-Man, and there you were! You were right there! And I saw you afterward, covered in cuts and bits of glass! What the fuck happened?”
You sighed and gave a quick overview, knowing that Monica was squeamish when it involved injuries. She started squealing with excitement as you told her that Peter came to keep you company, and that he made dinner for you. When you told her that you needed her help picking an outfit for game night, Monica was immediately facetiming you.
“What are we looking at?” Monica demanded as your face appeared.
“A casual night, meeting his aunt and best friend,” you explained. “We gotta go quick, though, because I really want a shower. Like, I think it’ll make my body feel so much better.”
“Of course. What about that Spider-Man shirt you have? And some leggings, that one black pair that you totally rock.”
“But that’s a crop top,” you argued quietly. “Not much of one, but it is…”
“Do it, you rock that shirt,” Monica encouraged you. “Besides, it’s casual, you’ll fit in perfectly! And, if I remember correctly, it’s a super comfy shirt.”
“Of course, you remember correctly,” you chuckled as you pulled it out, “you bought it for me, remember?”
“I do,” she beamed at you.
“Okay, love, I’m gonna get in the shower. I’ve got it from here.”
“Alright, hot stuff,” Monica winked, “don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
You raised a brow at her, causing her to cackle and quickly blow a kiss to you through the screen. With a quick goodbye, she hung up.
The hot water from the shower was amazing. It made everything feel just a little bit better, the muscles in your body nearly melting upon first water contact.
After one of the best showers you ever had, you dried off and inspected your bandages. You were thankful that you had plenty of bandages, because you felt a bit more comfortable with clean bandages on your cuts. There were only a few that looked like they were still a bit oozy.
You got dressed, incredibly happy that your muscles were arguing less, and put on just a little bit of mascara. Then, after making sure you had everything, you slipped your shoes on and began your walk to Peter’s apartment. He didn’t live super far away, and you realized as you checked your phone that you were thirty minutes early.
Instead of going into the building, you continued past it and into the flower shop right next door. You adored that flower shop; they always had the nicest and freshest blooms for the season. And their prices were very fair. You’d been visiting the shop since you moved to the city; at first you’d wandered upon it, but then you made some fast friends.
You waved to Sofia, the owner, and signed, “Hello, Sofia. How are you?”
“Great! Business is great,” she signed back, giving you the brightest grin. “What do you need today?” Suddenly, her eyes zoned in on the bandages on your arm and face. “What the hell happened to you?”
“Just a small incident with some broken glass. I’m fine, I promise. It doesn’t even hurt. I need something for a friend’s aunt,” you explained. “She’s like a mother to him. I’m thinking something not too big, with bright colors. Maybe some tulips and daffodils?”
“Okay, well, as long as you’re okay. Tell me, what’s she like?"
You paused for a moment, trying to think about what you could say. “I haven’t met her,” you signed, “but I’ve heard only good things.”
“What’s her kid like?” Sofia asked. “Name?”
You quickly spelt Peter’s name with your fingers and Sofia grinned. “Oh, is he nice?”
“He’s very sweet,” you informed her, “almost like candy.”
Sofia wiggled her eyebrows at you and held up a finger to pause the conversation. You waited patiently as she walked farther into her shop, obviously on a mission for the bouquet she had in mind. After she didn’t show up for another two minutes, you turned and began to admire the day-old bouquets behind you.
You turned back as Sofia approached with a simple bouquet in her hands. There were orange tulips and yellow daffodils, arranged artfully. Without asking, Sofia put them in a simple vase with a bit of water; she tied a yellow bow around it and showed it to you with pride shining in her eyes.
“It’s perfect!” you cheered, emphatically signing your admiration and appreciation. “You are so talented, Sofia!”
She waved you off playfully, a grin on her lips. “I hope they all like them.”
You paid the woman, noting that she knocked the price down for you; you shoved a twenty-dollar bill in her tip jar when her back was turned. Sofia handed you the receipt and gave you a sly smile.
“Tell me about Peter,” she urged, raising an eyebrow.
“He’s really sweet, an artist,” you explained. At her look, you cut her off. “He’s just a friend, Sofia. I’m about to go over to his game night with his roommate and aunt.”
“That sounds like fun. Is he cute, do you like him?”
Your eyes went wide at her blunt question and her laughter made it obvious that she already knew the answer. “He’s a wonderful person,” you informed her, trying not to give more away. Sofia could always see through anything, though.
“You like him,” she signed with a wicked grin. “You do!”
“He’s my friend!” you protested, rolling your eyes. “Speaking of Peter, I need to get going to game night.”
“Fine, fine, I hope you get some!” Sofia signed quickly.
Your blood rushed at her words. Instead of gracing her with a response, you stuck your tongue out at her and bid her a goodbye. Her laughter followed you out of the shop.
You bustled to the apartment building next door, holding the flowers close to your nose. They smelt divine.
The person in the lobby recognized you and gave you a wide smile. You waved at him and went straight to the elevator. It was a smooth ride up, and as you adjusted your arm, you felt a twinge of pain. Perhaps you should’ve taken some ibuprofen before you left…
You got off the elevator and walked to Peter’s door. You were ten minutes early, but that was okay. After going through a mental checklist, you nodded to yourself and finally knocked on the door. There was an urge to rock on your feet to get your nerves out, but you managed to curb that urge.
The door opened and you were met with Peter, a breathless smile on his face; as he looked at your shirt, he blushed bright red. Right behind him were two people, each peering around the man to get a look. You found yourself essentially giggling with mirth at the sight of two heads crowding in with Peter’s, nearly pushing the man over. It was downright hilarious to you, and you had to turn away from the door to try to quiet your chortling.
“I’m sorry,” you finally managed to get out, constantly interrupted by your own giggles, “I’m sorry, it’s just so funny, you’re all smushed together like that!”
Peter started chuckling with you, and after another minute, you turned back around. He was still at the door, the most adorable smile on his face, the blush still prominent (you had no idea why he was blushing, but it was super cute). The people that had been behind him were gone, but you could hear them talking in the apartment.
“Sorry,” you chuckled lightly.
“Hey, I love your laugh, so please, laugh away,” he grinned at you.
Your blood seemed to sing as you finally followed him in. Standing by the dining room table was a woman, one you assumed was May Parker.
“Y/N,” Peter began, “this is my Aunt May. And in the kitchen is Ned.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” you smiled a bit shyly at the woman. You held the flowers out. “I had some extra time before coming here, so I got you these flowers. I hope you like them. I-I know it might be a little weird, but I’m very fond of your nephew, and he speaks so highly of you. Besides, surprise flowers are nice,” you explained nervously.
“Thank you so much!” May beamed at you, coming forward and taking the vase from your hands. She wrapped one arm around you in a surprise hug and then kissed your cheek. When she pulled back, her smile was wider, and she sniffed the flowers. “Peter was right when he said you’re a sweet woman.”
You blood warmed slightly and you shifted on your feet. “Peter is really sweet, too.”
“I know, such a good kid,” May said adoringly. “Well, are you ready for game night?”
“Just how intense is it supposed to get?” you asked with a grin.
“Depends on how much you can handle.”
“What are we playing?”
“Thought we’d start with Monopoly.”
Your grin widened. “Oh yeah, I can definitely handle that intensity.”
“A girl after my own heart. By the way, I love your shirt, it’s super cute and on-brand for this family,” May told you as she wrapped her arm around your shoulder and steered you to the dining room table, where the game was already set up.
“I swear to fucking god, Peter, if you put another hotel there, I will flip this table!” Ned was yelling ninety minutes later.
“What about you, buying all utilities?” Peter shot back, his eyes full of fire.
“It’s only because Y/N bought all the airports!”
“That’s how the game works!” you and May joined in simultaneously.
“You’re just jealous that I got all the red spaces!” Peter yelled to Ned.
“Because you know I love the red spaces!” Ned shouted.
“That’s why I got them! Payback, bitch!”
“Oh, so this is payback for the time I decided to play as the dog because you were running late again?”
“Yes!”
You glanced at May and erupted into laughter. Despite the semi-harsh words being said, you could see the amusement in both men’s eyes and the smiles on their faces. It was, all in all, incredibly amusing. The energy of the room was electric and warm, incredibly comforting in an unusual but not unwelcome way.
Ned and Peter stopped arguing as they heard your laughter. You were leaning back in your chair, your head tilted and your hand on your chest as you tried to calm your cackling. May joined in, and soon, so did Peter and Ned.
“I think I have a solution,” you informed them as your laughter sobered.
“Let me hear it,” Ned and Peter said simultaneously.
You grinned at them before quickly flipping the board over. Everything went flying and you immediately dissolved back into laughter at everyone’s shocked faces. Their mouths remained open and you continued to laugh as you cleaned up the board and put everything back in the box. The laughter had devolved into chuckles when May began to help you put stuff away, a bright smile on her face.
“I like you, Y/N. You fit right in,” she said frankly.
You smiled sheepishly as you organized the money.
When you turned to look at Ned and Peter, they were both turned away from the table, whispering to each other and glancing over their shoulders. As you raised an eyebrow at Peter, he immediately turned red and jerked his head back.
With a shrug, you discussed what movie to watch with May. You both agreed that it was probably a good idea to put a movie on and play a different game. May was suggesting Cards Against Humanity, and you were seriously considering it. Of course, you were also weighing in the possibilities for total embarrassment with that particular game.
“Oh, what the hell, let’s do it!” you beamed, finding May’s cheer adorable.
Ned and Peter were still whispering while you helped May transfer all cups and food to the coffee table in the living room. You were setting everything up and they were still whispering as May put on Weird Science.
“Truly one of the great classics, May,” you informed her with an approving nod.
May nodded at you before giving you a pointed glance towards the boys. You gave a tiny nod of confirmation and walked over to them.
“Guys,” you stated loudly behind them, making Ned jump in surprise. “C’mon, it’s time for Cards Against Humanity and Weird Science. Wanna make some popcorn?”
“S-sure,” Peter stuttered, his ears and cheeks bright red.
“What’s got you two all worked in a bunch?” you asked gently.
“I, um, I have to run into the office really quick,” Peter admitted in a rush.
“Oh,” you blinked in surprise. “Um, okay? Is that what you’ve been discussing?”
“Y-yeah,” Peter admitted, his blush getting deeper.
“Are you worried about me?” you asked gently.
“I just, it would be rude—”
“Hey, Peter, it’s okay,” you interrupted him tenderly. “Emergencies happen. It’s totally cool with me. Besides, I like Ned, and I’m ready to win all of May’s love for all eternity.” You leaned forward slightly and pretended to whisper, “I’m gonna be her favorite, Peter; I’m gunning for your spot.”
Peter and Ned laughed loudly at that before Peter jogged to his room to get something he needed for the office. Ned rushed to the kitchen to make some popcorn while you went to sit on the couch with May.
“So, May, Peter has to go to the office for some sort of emergency,” you informed the woman as you plopped onto the couch next to her.
“That happens a lot,” May shrugged a shoulder. “And you can call me Aunt May, Y/N. After all this stuff tonight, I’m pretty sure you’re one of mine now.”
You laughed brightly, trying to calm the excitement that coursed through your veins. It had been awhile since you had that sort of motherly affection, and you didn’t quite know what to do about it. But you decided that you would roll with it.
“Okay, gotta go, see you in a bit, bye!” Peter’s voice flashed by you as he ran to the front door and left loudly.
“That was… weird,” you muttered under your breath. “Figured he’d actually, y’know, face us to say goodbye.”
“Oh, he gets like that when there’s an emergency,” Aunt May explained casually.
“Y-yeah, sometimes he doesn’t even go out the door, he goes down the fire escape,” Ned said almost… nervously.
As you watched the movie and casually played Cards Against Humanity, occasionally taking photos of the really good plays to show Peter when he returned, you found yourself getting really comfortable with the other two people. When the movie was over, Aunt May popped in another comedy, White Chicks.
About halfway through the movie, Aunt May decided to call it a night. She gave you a warm hug and a squeeze, telling you to wear the Spider-Man shirt more often with a wink. She gave Ned a squeeze and told either of you to give Peter a hug when he came back from the office. With another wave over her shoulder, Aunt May left.
Luckily, it wasn’t awkward with just Ned. You talked about both your jobs and your shared love of science fiction as the movie played. Ned even told you a few funny Peter stories that you soaked up with a vigor. When White Chicks was over, Ned decided to pop one more movie in while waiting for Peter (he picked Airplane).
You found yourself nodding off slightly while the movie was playing. Between the worlds of awake and asleep, you stretched out on the couch a bit more. It was an incredibly comfortable couch, obviously easy to fall asleep on.
Not even halfway through Airplane, Ned saw that you were sleeping peacefully. He figured that were still tired from the previous day, so he turned down the volume of the TV. After draping a blanket over your sleeping form, he went to bed.
Peter entered through the living room window cautiously. He could see that the TV was still on, so he didn’t want to alert you if you were still home, but his window had been getting stuck and needed fixing.
Rolling through the window silently, Peter sprang up to see you asleep on the couch. The light from the TV, playing the menu screen for Airplane, was giving you a light blue glow. You looked absolutely fantastic, but you also looked slightly uncomfortable as you used your arm as a pillow.
He took a step to you before remembering that he was still in his suit. Quickly changing into a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, Peter lightly jogged to your sleeping form with a pillow in his hands.
“Y/N,” you heard a gentle voice prodding you awake. “Y/N, wake up.”
Groaning lightly, you managed to open your eyes and push up from your position slightly. To your slight surprise, you saw Peter kneeling next to you. The light from the TV was making him look unfairly attractive, as was that damn tight white t-shirt.
“You’re too cute,” you muttered as you relaxed your arms to lay back down. “’S not fair that you’re so damn attractive,” you continued to mutter. “’S not fair to others that aren’t pretty, people like me.” A yawn stretched your lips and you smacked your lips.
Peter’s light chuckle floated to your ears. “You want a pillow, Y/N?”
You grumbled, making him laugh.
“C’mon, let’s get you more comfortable.”
“Are you comfy?” you mumbled.
“I mean, I’m kneeling on the floor.”
“Are you a comfy person?”
“I-I, I mean, I guess.”
“I’d rather use you than a pillow,” you admitted, still mostly asleep. “It’s cause ya look so comfy and cuddly.”
Peter chuckled again as you settled into your previous position. Your slightly opened eyes saw him biting his lip in thought before he nudged you over. You complied easily, scooting back until your back touched the back of the couch. You mused over the wideness of the couch and lifted slightly so Peter could snake his arm under your head.
He settled in next to you and you nuzzled closer and into his chest. You wrapped your leg over his and let out a small hum of comfort. Peter chuckled and you felt him hesitantly trail his hand down until it rested on your waist. With another hum, you felt yourself fall back into a deep, comfortable sleep.
You woke up slowly, feeling more rested and comfortable than you had in a long time. The night of sleep had been so nice, in fact, that you really didn’t want to continue to wake up. Still, you knew that you had to wake up eventually, so you opened your eyes.
Peter’s sleeping face was right in front of yours. His curly brown hair was falling across his forehead adorably, and the peaceful look on his face made you want to take a picture. You couldn’t do that, of course, because it wasn’t like you were his girlfriend or an actual artist like he was.
You couldn’t remember exactly what happened after you fell asleep the first time. As you memorized Peter’s sleeping face, you tried to recall how you came into this predicament. Peter’s arms holding you close did not go past you.
You let out a slight sigh and tried to squash the excitement that came when Peter let out a small grumble and tightened his hold on you.
A vague whisper of a memory came into your mind as you couldn’t help but bring your hand up to brush some of Peter’s hair off his forehead.
The memory told you that you’d mumbled some things that you would not have said otherwise. Apparently, sleepy you had much more confidence and a much smaller filter than fully aware and awake you. You felt your blood rush as your boldness from your sleep-induced state came into your living memory.
As you played with Peter’s hair, you decided to not focus on the words you’d uttered. Instead, you focused on the softness of his hair and the smoothness of his skin. He was so peaceful, and your tender, hesitant touches seemed to make him relax even more.
Peter let out a sigh and pulled you ever closer. After another minute, and you tucking your arm back against your body, your gaze was met with Peter’s sleepy brown eyes.
“G’morning,” he murmured, giving you a squeeze. “You’re a really good cuddle buddy. So warm and soft and nice. Smell good too.”
You chuckled lightly before you nudged Peter slightly. “Sorry about last night,” you said quietly. “I didn’t know I’m so… bold when I’m sleepy.”
Peter chuckled sleepily and the breath tickled your skin. “It’s alright,” he sighed happily. “I liked it. And I liked cuddling with you.”
“I did too,” you admitted shyly. “Peter?”
“Hm?”
“I need to use the bathroom.”
Peter let out a dramatic groan before removing his arms and rolling over. He obviously forgot that he was on the couch, because he landed on the floor with a thud. You couldn’t stop the loud laughter that left you as his fluffy curls popped up while Peter glared at you for laughing at his plight.
You climbed over him, still laughing, and hurried to the bathroom. All the liquids you had ingested the night before had caught up with you, and you cursed your past self for causing your present self to have to leave Peter’s cuddles. Then again, you pondered as you washed your hands, you hadn’t expected to spend the night, nor to cuddle with Peter.
If you weren’t so relaxed and still sleepy, you’d probably be freaking out.
When you walked back out, you saw that Peter was sitting on a counter in the kitchen. He was typing on his phone and a pot of coffee was brewing in the kitchen. As you entered the kitchen, you let out a groan of relief at the smell of the coffee.
“You should make that sound more often,” Peter informed you casually as he glanced up from his phone.
Your blood sang through your body and you decided to not comment on that. You texted Monica and told her that you planned on calling her later in the day, and a few minutes later, Peter was handing you a mug of coffee.
“Thanks,” you smiled at him.
“No problem. Thanks for inviting me to cuddle last night,” he smirked lightheartedly at you. “That was the best sleep of my life.”
You chuckled as you made your coffee the way you liked it. “I slept very well, too. Thank you, Peter. And thank you for being so cool about it.”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
Shrugging a shoulder, you sighed as you took your first sip of coffee. “I don’t know,” you admitted, “just… I don’t know. But I still appreciate it. I don’t always sleep the best, and it really was a nice sleep. So, thanks, Peter.”
“Hey, anytime. I seriously mean that, by the way,” he gave you a pointed look.
You barked out a laugh and nodded. “Okay, I’ll keep that in mind.”
“Good!”
Peter offered you some toast, or a bagel, but you politely declined. At his concerned look, you explained that you weren’t normally hungry right after waking up. You also told him that you needed to get home and take a pain pill to get rid of the little ache you still felt in your body. He pouted but seemed to understand.
After you finished your coffee, you went to the bathroom and your hands through your hair to make sure it didn’t look too crazy for your short walk. Sure, it was NYC, but you didn’t like to stand out. Peter laughed and told you that your hair was fine, but at your sideways teasing glare, he chuckled even more and left you to fix it up.
“Okay, Peter, I’d better get going,” you announced as you entered the living room.
Peter was adorably curled on the couch with a sketchbook in his lap. You pretended to peer around his shoulder to see what he was working on, but he held it to his chest and gave you a fake glare. He relaxed as you chuckled and stood up.
“Okay, well, thank you for having me over,” you said as you walked to the door.
“What are you thanking me now for? I’m walking you home,” Peter chuckled as he followed you to the door.
“Oh, you don’t have to—”
“I’m walking you,” he said in a no-nonsense tone.
You didn’t argue and instead let him lead the way out of his apartment.
The walk to your apartment was brief but nice. The coolness of the morning air was refreshing, and Peter kept up a casual stream of conversation that you eagerly participated in.
Almost too soon, you reached your building and turned to Peter. He grinned at you and shoved his hands in his pockets.
“Thank you, Peter,” you said softly, changing the whole dynamic around you. You felt a bit vulnerable with the shift you caused, but you pushed on. “I had a really great time. It really took my mind off of things, and I really appreciate you inviting me into your life. I feel… honored to have met some of the people most important to you. Thank you.”
Peter’s smile was tender and made your heart dance. “Thank you, Y/N. I’m really happy you got to meet Ned and Aunt May, and that you get along so well with them. I know I had to leave, but I’m really, really glad you had such a great time. Aunt May was texting me and telling me that you’re her favorite now, so… lucky you, I guess,” he pretended to pout.
You laughed and shifted your weight a bit. “She’s a wonderful woman, and she raised a wonderful man. I know you’ll always be her actual favorite, but I’m gonna soak up that title for as long as I can.”
The atmosphere had shifted again, and you felt less vulnerable. Still, you felt good; you didn’t feel guilt at sharing your feelings the way you sometimes did.
“Well, I’d better let you get back to your Saturday,” you announced, wincing internally at the awkwardness of the announcement.
“Y-yeah,” Peter agreed, giving you a smile that perhaps had a tinge of sadness.
“I’ll, uh, see you soon? If you want?”
“Yeah, definitely!” His eagerness made your heart do a little Irish jig. “Let me know if you need anything, okay? I know you’re still sore from the other day.”
“Of course. You too, Peter. I mean, any excuse to see you again, am I right?” Your face heated as you realized what you said. “Text me when you get home so I know you’re safe, okay? Tell Ned I said thank you for letting him into his home, and that it was nice to meet him,” you plowed on quickly. “Anyway, thanks again, Peter. Stay safe!”
Before you realized what you were doing, you stepped forward and kissed his cheek before retreating inside. You didn’t look back as you rushed to the building door, much too focused on dealing with your river dancing heart. When you glanced at him from the door, you saw the brightest, happiest smile you had ever seen.
Your river dancing heart slowed down at the sight of his smile. Warmth filled your body and your muscles relaxed. With one more smile at him, you went inside.
As soon as you entered your apartment, you slid down the door and onto the floor. Your smile was almost hurting your face with how long it had been there.
No matter the ache in your face, you didn’t want this feeling to fade.
for you; choi yeonjun
(2529 words) - medium
Summary: Everything I do, I do it for you.
TXT’s debut concert was finally over, tired grins embellishing the scarlet lips of all five members before they scampered off the stage, and towards the back. A foreign fire of accomplishment and pride overtook the yelps of excitement and the ecstatic laughter of the boys who cheered in the waiting room, the white walls and black floors getting scorched by the blazing passion that radiated off of the members.
After all of their hard work, all of the practices and fights, the good, the bad, and the expectations of their comeback, they were able to make a debut that nobody will ever forget. The symphony of cheers that echoed through the building would be something the boys will take to their graves, and forever resonating within their minds.
“I can’t believe it, we really did it!” Soobin, the leader of TXT, shouted as he draped his arms over two of the closest people to him, his fellow members, Hueningkai and Taehyun. The unrelenting joy intertwining with their sweat-laced hair and deep, frenetic breaths outshone the pale white ceiling lights that hung overhead and melded with their smiles.
“That was awesome.” Hueningkai hummed, looking at the smiles that adorned the others’ faces. Soobin’s fingers squeezing his shoulders as they shared a bright grin together.
Yeonjun was just about to join in on their stampede of ceaseless happiness until his phone buzzed on the side table that hid in the corner of the room, remaining untouched by the ardor creating firestorms in between the five boys who spun energetically around the room. He stared down at the bright white screen that glared back at him, a loving text from his boyfriend striking his heart with the arrows of tenderness. He smiled even brighter than the other boys he spent so long training with, Y/N’s gummy grin and radiant glee shining at the peak of Yeonjun’s mind.
Yeonjun stared lovingly at his phone as if his baby would stare right back at him, the sparks that always danced within Y/N’s eyes setting wildfires of devotion in Yeonjun’s head, and drawing a laugh from off his tongue with the blazing chains of their ardency. He could feel Y/N’s skin still running under his fingertips as he clutched his phone case harder, his lips still smeared with the glaze of the midnight moon. His crisp, white sweater constricted his chest like the sheets that pooled around theirs, and blazing trails of languid touches that skipped stones along their tangled legs and locked eyes still searing into his jeans even after a day. All he wanted was to celebrate this victory with the five people that he cared about most, and now, thanks to Y/N’s text, his dream could become a reality-
“Hello…? EARTH TO YEONJUN!” Yeonjun’s thoughts were cut by the swift blade of Beomgyu’s shouting, his head whipping up from his phone to see four curious boys surrounding him, some with confusion etched onto their features, and others with teasing smirks dancing across their lips. “What’s going on?” He cocked his head to the side, still waiting for an answer from the eldest member.
“Oh! Um… Y/N just texted me, he said we were amazing, and he was wondering if you guys could come over to celebrate…?” Yeonjun let a deep sigh of relief push past his pressed lips as all he heard was a chorus of ‘oh’s.
“Yeah, sounds good.” Soobin looked at the other boys who were nestled into the corner, surveying the frantic nods and the tired smiles. He shrugged and turned swiftly on his heel to head for their van. “C’mon!” Soobin waved everyone over, his kind smile and joyful voice etching grins on everyone’s faces before they walked outside, the sheets of the moonlight falling over the highrises and the white needle-points in the sky threading the cloths of the indigo night together.
Yeonjun sighed in content as the fangs of the icy evening breeze lodged into his skin, his smile never leaving when he stepped into the van with the rest of his members. Their anticipation to celebrate their incredible comeback with their best friend never amounting to Yeonjun’s desire to celebrate with his boyfriend, to feel Y/N’s arms draped around his neck and for the sparks of their adoration to writhe between their lips once again.
*
Yeonjun stepped through the door of his shared apartment with Y/N, his eyes meeting the crisp white walls that always coiled his heart with the warmth of sanctuary, the mist of reverence brightened his smile and floated around the bodies of everyone who scampered through the door.
“You’re home is really nice, dude…” Soobin’s lips parted in awe, his gaze stuck to the plants that were suspended from the ceiling with white rope and held in glass spheres, the lush green of the leaves above them pigmenting the space with life and inviting the warm currents of alleviation to freely meander throughout the room.
“Thanks, Y/N designed most of it actually…” Yeonjun grinned sheepishly, still unknowing of the sizzling that rang in the back of his ear, and the aroma of sauteéd vegetables and cooking meat becoming aerial regards as he let the other four boys roam about the house. Their eyes still drawn to every corner of the house, and their mouths wrenched agape by the design of every single room.
“He’s really talented, Y/N should be an interior designer…” Taehyun said as he walked down the corridor, his vision snapping towards a body moving around in the kitchen, amber flames spiralling in the air around pans, and a pot with bubbling water dispatching steam into the warm drafts.
“You also said that he should be a construction worker because he helped us put that Ikea shelf together, and that time you told him to be an Uber driver because he had to speed so Kai didn’t pee himself on the way there. Or that time you told him that he should be a history teacher ‘cause he was able to name more than one Prime-Minister.”
“KAY! Got it!” Taehyun whipped his arms up in surrender, rolling his eyes as he could hear Yeonjun’s chuckle fading from his ears and into the next room.
“Hey, something smells really good…” Hueningkai snapped his head to the stream of smoke coming from the kitchen, the fresh aromas of cooked vegetables and the thick current of sweet rice coming from that very room piquing everybody’s interest in the source of it. The flames that danced under the pots and pans that were strewn neatly along the burners were shut off, and bowls of food were sitting comfortably on the countertops, waiting to be eaten by five incredibly distracted and oblivious boys.
“How the hell did you guys not notice me sooner?” Y/N peeked around the corner, his smile matching those of the shocked boys who snapped their heads over to the voice that echoed from the kitchen. His large, red apron embellished with stains and the thin, silver glasses that hung loosely on the bridge of his nose catching the sparks of concentration that shone in his eyes. “I made bibimbap, come!”
“Y/N, babe… You didn’t have to…” Yeonjun beamed as he ran over to wrap his arms around his baby’s waist, embers of joy pulsing through the pecks that he traced down Y/N’s cheek and across his jaw. Soobin gasped airily, hovering his hands over Hueningkai and Taehyun’s eyes, a symphony of laughter taking flight in the warm, comforting air.
“C’mon guys! There are kids present!” Everyone chuckled, Yeonjun’s hands sliding up Y/N’s back and fiddling with the bow that kept the baggy apron on the younger’s modest frame.
Y/N relished in the heat that spread between their touching foreheads, the radiance between the love-struck couples’ eyes drawing their faces closer with the strings of ardency. With the older’s fingers running over the skin of Y/N’s waist, and the searing talons of their melding breaths ghosting their parted lips, the firestorms of devotion grew brighter and warmer with every shallow breath that contorted the flames of their admiration.
“Thanks so much, babe…” Yeonjun rested his head in the curve of Y/N’s neck, his bright smile masked by the faint aroma of rice and Yeonjun’s cologne that still embroidered the younger’s skin. Molten tenderness pooling between their languid touches.
“You deserve it, all of you guys do. That was one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen, now c’mon! Let’s eat! We have some Netflix to watch!” Y/N interweaved his lips with Yeonjun’s in a nimble kiss, their tongues embracing in the midst of the boys’ torrid aura before the younger pulled back. He watched the older’s grin brighten and the sparks in his eyes writhe in happiness as he snatched a couple bowls of food and scampered into the living room.
“Seriously, you didn’t have to.” Yeonjun took a couple more bowls, gesturing to the living room with a gentle head nod. The other boys followed the blazing paths of ardor that trailed the two other boys, untainted amazement and contentment leaking into their systems while they walked further into the house, and saw the bliss that wandered across all of Yeonjun’s features.
“Well, I did! So I guess you and the guys have to eat it.”
“This is so nice, Y/N… Thank you…” Beomgyu said from behind Soobin, the others’ nods of agreement making Y/N’s small smile flourish with blitheness.
“It looks amazing!” Soobin gingerly took the dark, ceramic bowl from Y/N’s hand, looking at the colours of the vegetables that laid upon the rice.
“What did I do to deserve you?” Yeonjun pulled his boyfriend onto his lap, his eyes held open in awe of the boy that sat between his legs. “How did I fall in love with such an amazing man…?” The older carted his hands through Y/N’s hair, his fingertips - lit ablaze by the flames of his boiling adoration - intertwining with the younger’s soft locks, and caressing the supple skin of his neck. Y/N leaned into the touch that wandered across his skin, the sapphire moonlight that punctured through the thick, glass window in thin pinstripes casting shadows over Yeonjun’s lips that sailed across Y/N nape and shoulders. The tepid affection billowing through every one of his tender kisses sending writhing flames of ardency to convulse under the younger’s skin.
Y/N smiled down at everyone eating his food, their eyes glued to the television and the corners of their lips turning up with every bite of food they had. The embers of satisfaction crawled through Y/N’s mind, the spires of joy and unrestricted appreciation festering firestorms within his eyes.
He turned around in Yeonjun’s lap, lips instantly meeting his boyfriend’s, their mouths and tongues amalgamating into a hurricane of happiness and adoration, flames of youthful admiration singeing the skin that ran under their fingertips, and the symphony of their low hums and radiant compassion belting within their hearts.
“This man fell in love with you too, and all you had to do was exist…” Y/N leaned into Yeonjun’s touches, his torrid palms weighing heavy on the younger’s neck and fueling the affable flames of the boys’ flourishing love. The pale lambencies of the aging twilight draped over their bodies and sheathed their reddened lips, their tired grins slowly weaving together in a medley of velvety pulses that rumbled among their tongues and contorted their breaths. Callow poisons of yearning tainted their heads as they pushed their chests together, their ample caresses grazing the haze of fervour coiling their bodies. All of their memories, the support they shared, their shy smiles and midnight talks washing through their heads in divine riptides. “So just keep doing that…”
Yeonjun embraced the smile that wandered along his face as he dragged languid kisses across Y/N’s cheek, the feeling of his baby’s soft skin under his lips letting the cinders of desire soar in his brain and the spires of their admiration to radiate throughout the room, the euphonies that formed between their calming breaths clambering between the mocha walls of their living room.
“I will, don’t you worry…” Yeonjun whispered between Y/N’s lips, the canopies of stars that draped over them fading in the radiant presence of their spellbound stares.
*
“Don’t drop him!!!” Taehyun flinched as Beomgyu continued his barrage of whisper-yells, his hushed words still cradling the echoes of his childish screams. Once their marathon of movies ended, the boys turned around to see their resident power couple enveloped in one another’s embrace on their dark grey couch, the fabric that laid under their intertwined legs and pressed chests scorched with the burning flames of their passion, and the air, once sweltering from their mingled sighs and rupturing the calm, midnight breezes now nursing their tranquil breaths. Taehyun, Hueningkai, Soobin, and Beomgyu took it upon themselves to carry them to their bedrooms, their passive smiles that bloomed across their faces as they looked at how happy both Y/N and Yeonjun were beckoning their kindness.
Taehyun had Y/N draped in his arms, the mist of joy brightening his grin when the silent symphonies of Y/N’s even breaths crawled through his ears, and his tousled, touch-ridden hair - still singed by the fervent embers of Yeonjun’s everlasting love - catching the thin twine of winter moonlight.
“Well, I don't have time for your sass! Can you help Kai with Yeonjun, he might drop him.” Taehyun whisper-yelled back at Beomgyu, who instantly rolled his eyes before helping Hueningkai pick up Yeonjun from off the couch.
The boys found Yeonjun and Y/N’s shared bedroom, and laid them gently in their bed, the hollow moonlight that soaked through the thin, red drapes on the window casting a sheath of garnet lambencies to gloss over the entire room. Burgundy shadows carving the white sheets that bunched at the bottom of the bed into dark fractals.
“They’re so cute!” Soobin cooed at Yeonjun and his boyfriend, their tranquil breaths piercing the silent aura that tip-toed throughout the room. All of the boys surrounding the bed left the room quietly, their eyes - capturing the embers of adoration that still floated amply in the room - stealing quick glances at the sleeping boys before they closed the door behind them, trapping the torrid gales of paramount devotion within the bedroom walls.
“My baby…” Yeonjun turned his head to Y/N, combing his hair away from his forehead before peppering his cheeks with angelic pecks, his lips holding the weight of the winter breeze that leaked slowly through the scarlet drapes.
“Yes? That’s me…” The younger leaned into the tepid lips cradling his cheeks, the older’s hands that buried under the loose sweater that drowned Y/N’s chest etching trails of untainted admiration across his stomach, and igniting sparks of amity under their mingling skin and touching foreheads. Their breaths coalesced into a spire of piety, firestorms encasing their tangled limbs and lingering between their interlocked gazes.
“I love you so much…” The flames of love that laced his words surged through his fingertips, pools of molten compassion forged between Yeonjun’s lips - that skipped across Y/N’s neck - and under his hands - caressing the supple skin of his precious boyfriend’s chest.
“I love you too…” Y/N sang into the symphonies of silence that were strummed on the strings of twilight, the saccharine trance weighing down on the boys’ eyes tainting their heads with the neon lights of euphoria.
Words: 2,027
Hades spoils you, but only when he wants something out of you. Only when it benefits him. At least he doesn’t put his hands on you. Most of the time.
Tonight, he’s gifted you the most ostentatious golden gown you’ve ever seen. The back is low cut, and the front drapes over your body as if it were made for you. Even you notice how much you shine in it, but you can’t tell if that comes from your skin or Hades’ magic.
The shoes he’s given you, however, are not a gift. They’re torture devices, in your own opinion. But they make your legs look amazing.
Hades knows what he’s doing. Knows what he likes, too. Knows what men like him like.
Men like him and Victor Von Doom.
Sorry, Doctor Victor Von Doom.
God, you think, knowing all too well about the irony in not invoking Zeus instead. What a pretentious name.
But then again, your Master is the literal God of the Underworld. He’s not a man at all, you realize.
And you really shouldn’t be surprised; Doctor Von Doom’s ballroom is just as incredible as his name and reputation. According to the information Hades gave you, the man is an insanely rich sovereign of some country called Latvia, but he has business to attend to in New York. And, for some inexplicable reason, he hates Doctor Reed Richards, as if that means anything at all to you.
Hades insisted it would, one day. But that was all he’d said on the subject.
Von Doom is easy enough to find in his sea of guests. It’s a charity event, and everyone is clambering to get a peek at the elusive host. Why Hades thinks this man will comply with his terms, you can’t say, but you still find yourself doing your job, stalking over to him with your head held high, hair falling into your face for an air of mystery.
Hades words, not yours.
You join the conversation easy enough. It’s all the same, after a while. You stay coy and playful on the outside, despite the creeping cynicism and exhaustion inside. It’s enough to catch Von Doom’s attention on more than one occasion.
Eventually, you’re quipping back and forth with him, holding your own with a gazillionaire like you’d never imagined before giving everything to Hades. But the God has trained you, and trained you well. He refused to send you out to do his bidding until he was satisfied, knowing you were ready according to his own standards.
By now, you’re practically an expert in playing a room.
And you get Von Doom alone in under thirty minutes. Almost breaking your last record of twenty-seven and a half.
He brings you to his office, sits in a large, red velvet chair behind his desk, and pours two lowballs of Scotch. You forgo one of the chairs opposite him and place yourself directly on his desk, between his nametag and intercom.
“So, Miss (Y/L/N),” he says, a light accent evident in his tone. “I must say, you’ve quite intrigued me.”
You already know this, but you give a light chuckle and lift your shoulders playfully anyway. “My employer will be thrilled to hear as much.”
He tilts his head toward one shoulder as he looks at you quizzically. You have to admit to yourself that he is rather...gorgeous. Classic Hollywood looks, vaguely European accent, clearly tanned and bright eyes any woman could fall freely into.
But he’s also a Billionaire. And, according to some of the things you’d read, not the greatest person. Or lover.
“And who, may I ask, is your employer?”
Your smirk widens. You push yourself off his desk and take a look at the shelves he has around the room. A well-read man, Von Doom appears to be. It’s almost impressive - would be even more so if you hadn’t gotten to know Hades too well since...everything.
But you can’t get lost in that right now. No, right now, you have a mission. A job.
After all, you sold your soul.
“He’s a man of many talents, Doctor Von Doom.” You pick a book off a shelf, pretend to examine the spine, then place it back without messing up the order. “A man much like yourself.”
Only he’s immortal and clever and I hate him.
But that’s also your own fault.
You turn only your head and glance at von Doom. His expression is still curious, so you know you’ve got a hook in him. Now all that’s left to do is reel him in on Hades’ plan.
You cross your arms and go across the room to another shelving unit, this one covered in sculptures of all media and sizes. There’s a bust of a woman that you’re sure is Mary Shelley, but you’re not sure what she has to do with any of this.
“And what is it that your employer does?” Von Doom asks.
As calculated as Hades’ intends, you turn fully to him and answer, simply, “He deals in life.”
In a way, it’s true. But that’s another reason you hate Hades. He’s far too technical. Gets what he wants on too many technicalities and specific details.
And yet, you always find yourself still respecting his methods. He gets what he wants, and everyone else pays for it. He’s never the one to get hurt, never the vulnerable one. After a lifetime of being told that that meant being evil, you’ve come to find that that’s not always the case.
Sometimes, it’s just better. Easier, being alone. Because no one can get hurt.
Von Doom’s laughter pulls you back into the now. But no worries; you’re prepared for this, too.
You take a heavy step toward him. “My employer is interested in powerful people,” you say. “He has plans. World-changing plans, Doctor Von Doom.”
With a good-natured smile, he tells you, “Please, call me Victor.”
They always say that you think. But you nod anyway.
“Victor,” you start again, taking yet another step back to the desk. “My employer is a man with vision. He has his means, but he wants allies. People to share his vision of the future, with a similar vision for today.” You splay your hands on the edges of the desk and smile gently at him now. “He wants to take out the Avengers.”
Victor laughs again. For just a split second, you’re confused, but you quickly compose yourself.
Before either of you can make a next move, the door bursts open. More accurately, the door is forced into the room, the wooden moulding in its frame splintering and cracking, the concrete surrounding it turning to rubble.
Speaking of…
You have no idea what the Avengers could want at a Von Doom Charity Party. So when the blond God from...Space, as far as you know, barges in with rage in his eyes, you stand and immediately back away.
“Let the lady go, Doom,” the God says, deep voice booming through the room.
Victor’s smile falters and vanishes. He sighs and shakes his head.
“You simpleton,” Victor says. “Must you constantly be ruining my doorways?”
“In the name of public safety, whatever it takes.”
You definitely have no idea what that means.
Victor is up in a flash, a metal gauntlet covering his fist - a gauntlet he certainly wasn’t wearing a moment ago. He blasts the God with a streak of white light, but it only earns him a roar in return.
And a blast twice as bright, twice as powerful, and twice as damaging. It hurts for you to look, so you turn to the window and yelp.
The air in the room settles, and there’s a plopping sound as something heavy hits the floor. You don’t turn around until a hand settles on your upper arm, but instead of Victor, you find the God holding onto you.
You push his hand off and glare. “You asshole!” you yell. “I was in the middle of something!” Something much more important than this...Lightning Guy would ever know.
He just stares at you, blank expression on his face while the doorway around him continues to fall apart. You can hear shouts and yelling from the ballroom, and a metallic voice attempting to calm the crowd.
You roll your eyes, knowing Tony Stark is behind all of this. Whatever this is.
It’s too ironic, you think, that you’re here to accost Victor Von Doom in an attempt to get him to join Hades in taking out the Avengers when they just happen to show up.
“Are you not...a damsel in distress?” Lighting Guy asks.
You had half-turned to a passed-out Victor, but find you can’t help but respond. So you turn back and glare at him and spit, “Do I look like I’m in distress?”
He doesn’t have an answer to that. You return to Victor, who groans now. Without looking back at Lightning Guy, you tell him to get lost and head across the room to make sure your target is still alive, can still possibly benefit you.
In a way, you think you should thank the Avengers for showing up. With this attack on Victor, he’ll have a vendetta. Once the so-called heroes disperse, you can use this to your advantage.
To Hades’ advantage.
“I would not approach him if I were you, madame.”
You groan this time, a deep and rumbling sound that shakes your chest. “I can handle myself,” you tell him. Just inches from Victor’s twitching legs, you look at the...actually quite handsome, gigantic man in the doorway who’s watching you curiously. You smirk at him, because giving anything real away could jeopardize your new plan. “Have a nice day,” you tell him with a wink.
Kneeling beside Victor, you reach down and feel for his pulse, even though you saw him moving already. He’s definitely still alive, which makes you sigh.
“Ma’am,” you hear. It’s not Lighting Guy this time, though you missed the sound of footsteps approaching. “I’m gonna have to ask you to clear the room.”
You’d know that self-important, high-and-mighty tone anywhere. He was the spokesperson for the team, after all, though Tony Stark often thought of himself as such. The difference was that Stark had his own business to speak for on a regular basis, while Captain America had only the Avengers.
“Ugh, fuck off, would you?” you let out, despite how borderline polite the Captain had sounded.
“This building isn’t safe,” he says back, like you know nothing at all about the situation you’re currently in. “That man is a dangerous-”
“I know who he is,” you shoot. You sit back on your heels and give both Captain America and Lighting Guy an unimpressed look. “I’m a big, tough girl.” You turn and stand, just to make a point, showing off the uncomfortable shoes that lace up around your calves up to your knees. “I can tie my own sandals and everything.”
“I’ll give you one last chance, ma’am, before one of us is forced to remove you from the room,” Captain America says, voice even and commanding.
You’re not surprised that he’s not exactly the piece of Apple Pie every American thinks he is.
You look them both over. Lightning Guy’s biceps are bigger than your head. Each. He’s...unreal. Inhuman. He looks like he could pummel Hades into next year.
But the longer you look, the softer his eyes become. There’s...something akin to respect lining the electric blue of his irises. Like he sees the power you’re attempting to wield and likes it, even if you’re busy telling him to fuck off.
And Captain America - well, that dude punched Nazis! You couldn’t take him if you wanted to. He’d have you over his shoulder and down a flight of stairs before you could blink.
Because you know all this, and because you’d rather leave with whatever dignity you have left in tact, you sigh and nudge Victor’s shin with the heel of your shoe. You roll your eyes again and say, “Fine, fine. If he wakes up, tell ‘em I’ll be back, would ya?”
You head across the room and the two huge men make way for you. Just as you come up to Captain America’s shoulder, he steps back and puts himself in your way, but doesn’t bother with touching you.
You’re quite thankful for that, actually.
“I wouldn’t advise it, ma’am.”
You give him a rather condescending hmm, look right into his sky-blue eyes, and smirk the smirk Hades always says is the reason he keeps you around. “Save it for someone you can actually save, Cap,” you tell him.
Then, you’re gone.
