I just finished this manhwa titled her tale of shim chong, and it’s safe to say that this is the BEST gl I’ve ever read in my entire life! The characters themselves are so well written, their motivations and upbringing and character development is so well-done. I adore how they handled misogyny, they showed how much it’s ingrained into society and women’s conditioning, how women would try to find a way around it/a way to get power by playing the rules, how it’s impossible to do so, how the only to achieve liberation is by leaving all together. How misogyny intersects with class and differentiate in how women are treated according to their roles in society, how all women no matter how high-class they are are still victims of the patriarchy. The relationship itself is written so perfectly and beautifully, and it feels so natural even though you know somethings are missing. Both girls affect each other in such a visceral life-changing way, how they both tried to help the other by the tools and knowledge they possessed no matter how limited they were, how, like stated explicitly, they taught each other to live not just survive. How they chose despite all the odds and horrors to be together and stay together and never leave each other’s side. I adore it all. They deserved their happy ending truly. It was so satisfying and cathartic to see.
