Heartful Voice Magazine
Seiyuu magazine originally published on March 3, 1996. I found this via proxy. Magazine features an interview with the voice acting groups Virgo.
Cover features Hisakawa Aya, the 1990s voice of Sailor Mercury.
Flipping through it I found an advertisement for Mitsuishi Kotono's new CD.
The members of Virgo. From the right to left.
Nagashima Yuko, Tange Sakura, Niiyama Shiho, Kasahara Rumi, Yanase Natsumi
Under the image for Niiyama it describes her as leader and wants to help others.
It looks like this interview happened over lunch.
Interview with all Virgo members.
Seiyuu with the characters they voiced in Ojoosama Soosamoo (Debutante Detective Corps). Episode was released by ADV .
Close up picture of Niiyama Shiho.
Final interview page.
Another post featuring Virgo is coming up in the future.

You all realize, and I am not saying this is a good thing, that someday someone is going to use A.I. technology to redub Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal right?
Someday there will exist:
a) A version of Sailor Moon where Tracey Moore, Terri Hawkes and Linda Ballyntyne are the consistent voice of Sailor Moon in the original anime and Crystal. And there will probably even be multiple versions of each where in some versions she is called Serena instead of Usagi, attempting to emulate the DiC dub rather than the original Japanese versions of either show.
b) A version of the Crystal with the original 1992 Japanese voice cast 'playing' their respective characters. Like we could in theory hear Tōru Furuya yell 'Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber' or listen to Shiho Niiyama voice Seiya from beyond the grave.
c) A version of the original anime where the Crystal cast are 'cast' as their respective characters.
d) Versions of Crystal and the original anime with either Japanese cast playing their characters in another language. Literally we will someday hear Kotono Mitsuishi voice Usagi for 200+ episodes in English.
And if you think that is too much of a stretch:
youtube
That is the AI Japanese cast of One Piece singing in English
I'm not saying, and in fact desperately hoping, neither Toei nor PNP do any of the above. I am however saying someday someone will. It is going to happen.
Now go ahead and rejoice and/or despair as you see fit.

Love this scene. Haruka and Seiya might hate each other but in real life Megumi Ogata and Shiho Niiyama were best friends.
haruka is-
my important partner.

One of my favourite seiyuu/anime characters is Seiya (Shiho Niiyama 新山 志保) from sailor stars and I found out soon after watching it for the first time that she passed away in 2000 from leukemia. it makes me really sad thinking about how she’s gone because her voice was really piercing, in a very satisfying way, and whenever I think of her, I wish she could have lived on to do more characters because her voice acting was so brilliant and also a part of me might be slightly in love with that character. I always replay that arc just to listen to her once more and experience Seiya’s sweet and heartbreaking unrequited love. Seiya/Fighter may have been her only real legacy she left behind but at least she left behind something that touched people, or at the very least, me. All we can hope for is to leave behind some kind of legacy before we disappear. Thoughts like “is there any meaning of my existence” pass through my head a lot, and I hope, even if I never get see it, my living gave something special to someone, the way Shiho-san was and always will be special to me.

I have been spending my evening transferring some of my older fic from ff.net to ao3. (And it’s not even my OLDEST work. I have older works on my webpage.) So far I’ve transferred 2 Sailor Moon fic (Anniversary and Dark Messiah) and 2 Fushigi Yuugi fic (Sacred Trust and Wind Beneath My Wings).
...talk about a humbling experience. XD
I’ve thought about cleaning some of them up, or at least eliminating the fangirl Japanese, but you know what? I think I’m going to leave them as is. I like the idea that people can look back on my fandom history, so to speak, and see that my earlier works aren’t as good as my current works, that I’ve improved over the last 20+ years. I think sometimes we need a reminder of that. Sometimes _I_ need a reminder of that.
This has almost made me SUPER nostalgic for some of my old fandoms. (And very sad about Niiyama Shiho all over again, WTF. OTZ) Maybe I’ll spend this week hunting down some of my favorite old anime and watching some. For old times’ sake. ^_^
Anyway, if any of you want to read any of these fic, I’m backdating them with as near to their original publish dates as I can get, so they’re behind everything else. So, yeah. I don’t know why you’d WANT to go looking for them, but that’s where they are if you do. ^_^ Enjoy?

Cross World All Stars On Stage CD Set
Found via proxy for about $10 and figured it would be worth, hoped for minimal scratches. It arrived in perfect condition!
These discs are from a special recording for a seiyuu skit in front of a live audience in 1995.
Back side of disc.
Disc 1 and booklet.
Disc 2
I bought these discs since Niiyama Shiho, voice of 90s Sailor Star Fighter was in it. They introduced the MC for the event and I nearly spit out my drink. It was the voice of Toru Furuya, 90s Mamoru.
Niiyama is the picture on the bottom of the first page.
The two different voice acting groups on stage.
Page featuring Toru Furuya as the MC/Moderator.
Second group of seiyuu. This group also featured Okiayu Ryotaro that played Tiger's Eye in the 90s anime he is the third picture on the first page in the bottom corner.
I completely overlooked another actor until starting on this post! Midorikawa, Hikaru voice Fiore in the Sailor Moon R movie. His picture is the second on on the first page that is highest up.
One more actress features in the second group.
Hisakawa Aya played Sailor Mercury in the 90s anime. She is pictured on the second page, the first picture, wearing glasses.

Someone has used AI to generate a cover of Moonlight Densetsu, sung by Shiho Niiyama, the original voice actress for Seiya/Sailor Starfighter, who died in in February 2000.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - KOTOMI AIHARA
Today, on the 2nd of May, is the 30th birthday of Kotomi Aihara ( Kotomin ), the voice provider for Shiki Ichinose! She is currently employed under Atomic Monkeys and had her first credited role in Beyblade Burst(2016) as Haruta Aota.
She joined the Im@S family on the 27th of June 2015 through the 11th MAGIC HOUR Voice Drama.
Data
Website : Atomic Monkey Twitter : @aihara_k_
Official Profile Translations:
Blood Type : O Hobbies : Singing Special Skills : Singing
Trivia
※ Her reason for wanting to become a voice actor is so that she can “become a 2-dimensional Boy” after watching and falling in love with “Cardcaptor Sakura” and “HunterxHunter” when she was in the 5th Grade of Elementary ※ Her likes of “boyish” characters started in Kindergarten, when she had a lot of Sailor Uranus merchandise from Sailor Moon ※ She was unable to fully attend a voice acting school, but she eventuallly auditioned at her mother’s support, and was enlisted in Atomic Monkey’s training school ※ She looked up to both Megumi Ogata and the late Shiho Niiyama, citing the former as one of her main influences ※ She mentions that she’s not too confident in playing female characters and is more comfortable playing male ones due to her naturally deep voice ※ Said to have been the best singer in her hometown; sang Nana Mizuki’s “SCARLET KNIGHT” for her audition ※ She enjoys talking fast, and can’t tell a lie ※ She enjoys horror and mystery games, having mentioned to have played the “Mystreet” series multiple times
