What do you mean about fate and FS and Moustead?

Hello! Thank you for falling for my lil trap!

There is so much because I'm longwinded, have fun with this I got too excited getting to put this all into words.

I've been against using "fate" as an argument for FitzSimmons, specifically, since... 2017? Yeah, that's when that half of s4 aired. I'll give you a SparkNotes version, for anyone who didn't watch Agents of SHIELD - Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons, who I do love as a ship in the early seasons, I have nothing against the ship specifically, just the "they're fated to be together" argument. They met at the SHIELD academy when they were kids, when Jemma sat next to Fitz in a class and they became... friends? They both thought the other hated them and they were gonna be rivals, while secretly admired each other and how smart they were the whole time. Anyway, now they're married and have a daughter, which is cute as shit, good for them, this is not an anti-FitzSimmons post.

I don't think they're fated to be together.

I use the Framework-created alternate reality to make this point every time. In that reality, Ophelia is the one who sat next to Leopold, and that butterfly effects into them being in a relationship down the line. Ophelia specifically set it up to be that way, I get that, I know that's how the Framework arc worked. My username was HoldenDadcliffe across most social media for 4 years, I know what I'm talking about. But the argument could be made that Fitz would have ended up with anyone who sat next to him in class and engaged with him, whether as a friend or a presumed rival or what have you. That's the only point I want to make. It could have been anyone. In the real world, it was Jemma. In the Framework, it was Ophelia. It could have been Matt, my Bruises Verse OC, it could have been anyone. It was the situation that brought them together, not the universe. That doesn't make the relationship any less important or genuine, it's just a fact.

Anyway, I would argue that Moustead is fated to be in each other's lives, especially if we take the possibilities in Bolivia into account. Not necessarily in a romantic way, because soulmates, or whatever you want to call it, don't have to be romantic. I just think they're meant to exist in the world together, and the universe seems to be encouraging that.

For instance, in Afghanistan, Jay did make friends with Knox first. In canon. They were close, they built explosives together, had to rely on each other to survive, the whole nine yards. They were halfway around the world with only their team to count on and trust. They had to be a family to stay alive. And then Knox did everything he did, and that friendship was obviously completely ruined after that, which meant that one of Jay's most important relationships at the time was just... decimated. He had to find someone who he could actually rely on, someone who wouldn't murder civilians because he wasn't taught to handle his emotions in a healthy way.

Mouse wasn't exactly handling his emotions in a healthy way, either, but at least his poor coping mechanisms didn't have a civilian body count, you know? Like, the only person he hurts is himself? It's fine, he gets better, eventually. But the idea of the universe seeing Jay make a friend, and going "wait, no, not that one, come back here" is just so... *chef's kiss* It's just a coincidence, at that point, but there sure are a lot of coincidences, aren't there?

He gets attached to the one other person from Chicago. The one other person who survived that war zone with him. The one person who kept him sane - who he also kept sane - when they got home and had to navigate civilian life again.

They just work, you know? They balance each other out in so many ways. Jay is absolutely driven by his heart - he wants to help people, he wants to put good into the world and take bad out, he wants to fall in love and have a constant presence in his life. On the other hand, Mouse is driven by his head - he's so smart, and he uses that to learn about computers and the world around him, and he has great ideas. They both rely on those opposites so much that it hurts them. Jay holds onto relationships until they tear him apart. Mouse thinks things through so much that he had to turn to drugs to keep himself from unraveling.

They even go so far as to completely reject those opposites in themselves. If Jay used his head, he'd know to let go of relationships and connections long before they hurt him the way the do. If Mouse used his heart, he'd be less untethered, he'd have more connections to his Chicago life than just Jay. Of course, all of my labels for them are just headcanons, but Jay being aspec and Mouse being arospec adds to this so beautifully.

Even if it is all coincidence, that balance is so important to their relationship. If one goes too far, the other can pull them back, and they really make up one fully functional human being together. They share a braincell, for sure, and Mouse usually has it. Jay certainly didn't have it in s5, that's a fact.

I think, with Jay leaving the show - and rehashing the same speech that Mouse gave him with only slightly different wording - the universe might be pushing them together again? Obviously, canon hasn't mentioned Mouse since s4, and we're never going to know if they're actually serving their country together again, but I can pretend. I can pretend that the person Jay called his best friend is still in his life, somehow.

But especially with how s9 went, and that whole year leading up to Jay leaving for Bolivia...

Even just starting with the Knox episode, 9x03, that had to bring up memories that he hasn't thought about in a while. I'm almost certain that he came across a few pictures of Mouse while he was doing his digging, even if we didn't get to seem them on screen.

After that, I want to bring up 9x09. Lovingly, the rushed marriage episode. (I love Upstead, but their romance arc was rushed and if they, the writers, had taken the time to develop the relationship more, they could have navigated the distance much more easily, or at least put off the actual wedding until Jay made his way through his crisis and they were both in a more stable place, but that's just my opinion and not the point of this post, ignore me) I just think about that episode a lot in a Moustead context because of what made Jay panic and rush into it like that. They had to get the FBI off of Voight and Hailey, obviously, but the steps they took had to be personal to him, at least in the context of his friendship with Mouse. A young, queer-coded drug addict, who was the same age that Mouse was when they met, using him and this weakness (that Jay canonically doesn't judge, he literally gave Mouse drug money in s1) and holding that over his brother as leverage, it's... He saw the lowest point of his best friend's life right in front of his face, something that he couldn't fix before and can't fix now, and Jay...

Jay, who just wants to help people, and put some more good into the world, and fix things because he hasn't had much control in his life and now he's older and stronger and he can do something. He used this intimate knowledge he has of people in that situation for his own personal gain, in a way, and doesn't that make him feel so dirty? But he can't think about it too hard, because he's not the one who uses his head. Mouse is his head, the one who would have actually said out loud how stupid and reckless and horrible that idea was and how they shouldn't do it. Because it was exploiting a literal child, who didn't do anything wrong beyond giving into vices. But Jay... Jay is the heart. He finds someone he cares about and he holds on so tight. And he was already engaged to Hailey, so what's the harm in moving the wedding up?

He'd already lost the person he'd been thinking about for months, and it's not like he could just call and ask Mouse to come back to Chicago, not after how things ended. But he could hold onto the people he loved who were close. He could turn an engagement into a marriage. He could insert himself further into Voight's bullshit. He could cement himself in the team and focus on what he had, not what he missed.

Then there was Adam's undercover thing, and the overdose, and even if November 2011, specifically, is from my headcanons, how many times did Jay worry? How many times did he text or call or pop by to make sure that Mouse was high but not in danger? How much did he check in after Mouse's multiple felonies and other petty crimes and make sure he was okay and alive? How many times did Jay have to worry, over their 10+ year friendship, that he'd lost someone he cares about so much?

And then there's s10, with his exit, and that entire episode doing the exact same thing to me, emotionally. 10x03, my beloved, my ride or die, my defining moment... A veteran is doing his best, getting pulled into crime just to pull himself afloat, getting hurt and getting himself killed through that. Isn't that something Jay has seen before? Just with a less tragic finale? Of course he helped clear up the guy's record, so that his family could still get the benefits, and all of that wasn't done for nothing. And then...

He left. He went back to the army, however loosely, basically quoted Mouse's reasons for why - because how else would he explain it? The logic is sound, of course it is, the head handles the logic. Jay just followed the logic laid out for him six years earlier, when his heart finally caught up with it.

And the idea that they somehow ended up in the same area again? Working together and rekindling their friendship now that they're finally on the same page? What else could that be?

It's fate.

First Lines Meme

Ooh, thank you for tagging me @virusq. This suggestion to share the first lines of my last 10 fics and look for patterns sounds like fun.

I think I’m generally trying to manage some sort of hook with my first lines so I know a lot of them are quick statements that I’m trying to pack a bit of a punch with.

So… 1. “The dreams hurt” (Cursed Needs)

2. “He gave me the lightsaber.” (Lightsabers Are Always Loaded)

3. “He’d gotten carried away.” (Carried Away) - well that one seems more like a topic sentence than a hook.

4. “Luke Skywalker’s face had haunted me for years.” (Darkness Kicks Back) - back to the attempted hooks.

5. “Mara stretched her arms over her head in contentment as Luke stroked his hands up her body under the fragrant water.” (Just Bonds) - ooh or we just drop right into the smut. I don’t do this much. I think there’s only one other story that opens with the smut already underway.

6. “This was not a good time for Luke Skywalker.” (A Better Offer) - this might be more scene setting than anything else, although that could apply to lots of moments in Luke’s life so it might not be that effective. …and skipping over the drabble that inspired that piece…

7. “It took a full 45 minutes for Arihnda Pryce to admit she was distracted.” (Mutual Satisfaction). Hmm. My triumvirate verse stuff seems to open with activities rather than quick declaratives. I wonder if I’m picking up on something stylistic about that collection.

8. “He knew she was watching him.” (Tomorrow) - oh definite vaguefic attempt at a hook. Don’t you want to know who was watching him? It’s Mara. It’s always Mara.

9. “Mara followed Artoo Detoo as he trundled down the halls of the Jedi Academy on Yavin.” (Melting into You) - This one is a bit more in media res, so I don’t know.

10. “Mara kept her relief to herself as she strode quickly over to the freestanding shields that had trapped the Fire on Selonia.” (Selonia is for Lovers) - and I started two stories in a row with Mara walking somewhere. I mean they both wind up with her in bed with Luke. Expert tip, in my stories walks are a great way to get Luke Skywalker into your bed. I suppose it works that way in Zahn’s stories too.

Okay, there are lots of hook attempts in there, but they aren’t all like that. I remember studying first lines as part of a high school creative writing class last century, and I found I liked the more complex scene setting openers over the quick declarative ones here, so I probably should attempt to diversify a bit. I think some of this that my fic is mostly Star Wars and Star Wars is all about quick movements and opening in media res. I tend to try to match that tone in my writing rather than coming up with something lush and languid. I will have to keep that in mind going forward.

i’m still coming up with solid headcanons for this, but in her main verse, scarlett is a student at the colson academy, which is basically shield academy, but idealized and remodeled by alphonso mackenzie and melinda may. since we don't have much official information beyond the little that was shown in agents of shield, i'll take the liberty of saying that this academy is basically like a college, but for the future generation of shield agents.

overhall i imagine that this academy should follow the same pattern as before, with three main divisions: science and technology, operations, and communications. scarlett is obviously part of the operations division.

her classes are more focused on training for field agents, physical training, combat and armed skills and all that, but also very focused on history, geography, politics, espionage and several other things to help in their formation. she still has to do projects and papers, and attend classes and lectures which she finds a bit boring, but overall, she is doing much better at this academy than she ever did at a normal school. she doesn't stand out much in theory classes, but she certainly doesn't fall behind the other students, as was always the case in high school.

also based on the twelfth episode of the first season of agents of shield they have dorms and stuff and i really like the idea of scarlett having a roommate that she ends up becoming friends with, but i'm still thinking about that part.

Happy Mother’s Day, what was Dancing-Hands, Arnoss, Nyrhen, Farell and Vaalin mothers like?

Mother's day isn't for another few weeks.

-Dancing-Hands's mother was, in her younger years, an imperial guard as they were investigating the Kami rifts during the Era of Enlightenment with the Jukai's help. After the creation of the Merge gates, she married a kitsune of the Jukai she had worked with, who later became Dancing-Hands' father. She was the one to initially introduce Dancing-Hands to origami, but their relationship didn't fare too well along the years. His parents had very little authority on Dancing-Hands come his forties, and she regrets what happened to him. They've met again since and she knows he's alive, but it's been tough to rebuild things.

-Arnoss didn't have a singular "mother", that's not how the Family's typically raises children, he was under the care of all the adult Beldruns. As far as biological parents, he's never met his mother (at least he doesn't think so), his egg was bought from another family that couldn't support any more Ghavaleks. This is also not uncommon in the Family between caravans that trust each other.

-Nyrhen's mother was incredibly proud of her boy, even if he didn't do anything particularly glamorous or important. He was always Perfect to her eyes. Also she was a Lorwyn elf, so, y'know, the baggage that comes with that. Weapon-carver, some of which were deemed worthy of being used by Perfects.

-Farell's mom is Lady Leana Javori, born Bassola. She's cunning, positive, and confident. She's well-versed in politics and etiquette. She uses them as she needs to, but isn't fond of what comes with it, so she sometimes ignores convention when she thinks they're wrong.

Her birth name is an old, powerful and respected one on Fiora, and she very much married under her station when she did a newly ennobled merchant and had to give up her name for his when she did. She further mudded her name by carrying to term a bastard child from a shapeshifter who tricked her, and giving him her birth name. Despite the events of that night, she loves Farell just as much as she does her human children. She encouraged Farell into finding his own way, to be proud and keep his head high. The aristocracy may see him as lesser, but it's their loss if they underestimate her eldest son.

-Vaalin's mother was killed during the current phyrexian invasion, so he's still processing that, especially considering he had to keep working after learning of her death, alone in his head for long periods of time. She was a Vodalian merfolk from the Volshe caste, a mathematician, who had briefly studied at Tolaria (of the Depths). She joined a diplomatic mission to the surface world and met Vaalin's father, a human, there. She laid Vaalin's egg not too long after coming back from that year-long expedition. Knowing the xenophobic caste system underlying Vodalian society would be very harsh on a half-human, she sought refuge for her and her child in Tolaria's waters, where minds were more progressive.

There, she raised her child by herself within the Academy's reach, trying her best to shield him from the disdain and hatred that inevitably filtered through even in the school. Most students at Tolaria of the Depths have vodalian origins and culture after all, be it recent or older. She had her concerns when he specialized in temporal studies and might have tried to push him towards more practical studies. His achievements of the past few years on Dominaria and other worlds had placated her doubts though.

At 5 years old, an orphaned little girl is brought to Department X’s Red Room Academy; the girl, a redhead, has no memory of her life or what had happened to her parents. She’s unable even to tell anyone her name, so one of the academy’s trainers names her Natalia Alianova Romanova. In the weeks and months that follow, little Natalia is placed into the Black Widow program, an initiative looking to train 28 girls to become the perfect weapon of the Soviet State.

Along with her classmates, Natalia undergoes extensive physical and mental conditioning, including the implantation of false memories, of a loving family and ballet training, and always the reminder that she was being a good Soviet by serving her mother country. Natalia learned quickly and was soon excelling in many of her classes; her particular specialties were espionage and assassination, as well as hand to hand combat.

By the age of 17, Natalia had already amassed and impressive body count, and had progressed well enough in her training that she was deemed a suitable candidate to receive Department X’s version of the super soldier serum used on Captain America. The changes to the candidates bodies were painful, and in some cases fatal, but Natalia survived.

Now 18, her training continued, and with the Red Room now working closely with Hydra, the Winter Soldier was brought in to tutor her. Natalia proved to be a quick study, and was soon accompanying the Soldier on missions; trainer and trainee soon became close, as Hydra’s mental control of the Soldier began to slip and he remembered the man he’d been before. Natalia was torn between duty to the only family she’d known, and her developing love for James Barnes; her discovery that her memories were nothing more than lies soon showed her where her path lay, and it was not with the Red Room.

Hydra, however, had different ideas. Fearing the loss of their Asset, the Winter Soldier was removed, his mind and memories of Natalia wiped before he was put back in cryo until he was needed again. Natalia, heartbroken and betrayed, took her revenge on those who’d taken James from her, leaving a trail of bodies in her wake. Over the following decades, little is known of Natalia, other than whispers that the feared Black Widow had committed another assassination, or had brought another government to it’s knees.

Natalia’s covert reign of terror continued until a fateful meeting with Avenger and SHIELD agent, Hawkeye. Rather than kill her, as he’d been ordered to do, Agent Barton had convinced her to defect, and put her skills to use helping people. With a name change - Natalia Romanova to Natasha Romanoff - she quickly worked her way up the ranks for SHIELD and joined the Avengers. However, the restrictions of following someone else’s orders soon started to sit badly with Natasha, and she struck out on her own, becoming a freelance spy and assassin.

Blackarachnia's Friends, aka 'Cons Who Adopted Them

Zircon: An engineer they met shortly after joining Shockwave's science corp. He was constructed in Tarn to be a miner but had aspirations to be a quantum mechanic. He first encountered Blackarachnia during a routine repair of the facility's generators; having latched onto the Decepticon's newfound xenophobic rhetoric, he felt that he was above listening to a techno-organic. His tampering led to further malfunction, and Blackarachnia shoved him out of the way before being hit with the power surge herself. The jolt of 50,000 volts wouldn't have caused as much damage to him as it did the Eukarian, and yet, she chose to save him, anyway. That made him rethink his previous biases. He was the one to carry them to the facility's medic. He became a more amiable colleague after the incident, and an informal bodyguard. Everyone quickly learned that unless you were Shockwave himself, you didn't talk shit about Blackarachnia within earshot of Zircon.

Derby Scalpel: A worker constructed in Helex. Despite his alt-mode being a bulldozer-like vehicle, he always had a desire to heal rather than destroy. However, the Functionalist Council prevented him from applying to any medical academy. He learned the trade informally by patching up workers hurt on the job, and later, studied under more formally trained medics in triage clinics during the war. He and Blackarachnia encountered each other on a ship shortly after the latter's release from Shockwave's employ. They were injured in a battle with Autobots, and Blitzwing wasn't around to help them patch themself up. Frustrated that none of the other medics wanted to 'sully' their servos by touching a Eukarian, Scalpel gruffly ordered the arachnid to his side of the medibay. In Blackarachnia, he found a kindred spirit, someone who joined the war because they believed in the true Decepticon cause-- liberty, justice, and equality. After the war, they kept in close contact. Scalpel worked to set up clinics for former Decepticons in Kaon, Helex, and Tarn, including facilities for mental health care.

Cobalt Kalamity: An MTO built in Kaon to repel Megatron's advance; however, it appears they went through more than just the three orientation steps. He could read and think and question, including wondering why he had to listen to his superiors. He met with a Decepticon envoy secretly. He read Megatron's Towards Peace; he saw footage of the riots, of the Clampdown and civilian killings. Disgusted at having been a tool to further the ends of an oppressive regime, he switched sides, and changed his name. Blackarachnia saved his life during the war with their shield invention, during the siege of Iacon. It protected him from the Rainmakers' acid deluge, and repelled a round from a sniper, besides. They rarely spoke during the war, but afterward, Kalamity wanted to show his gratitude by working with Blackarachnia to reintegrate Decepticons. In post-war IDW verse, they're a Decepticon-aligned senator who is currently overseeing Kaon's rebuilding effort.

Nitro: Member of a constructed cold combiner team, similar to the Combaticons. They combined to form Pandaemonium. Nitro was the right hand and arm. Impatient and brash, with an explosive temper, others found Nitro difficult to work with, let alone get along with. Everyone, however, except for his conjunx, Turbo, and Blackarachnia. During a battle on a far away war world, Blackarachnia went back into the fray to retrieve an injured Turbo. Turns out all of that attitude was hiding a spark that was in the right place. He came to defend Blackarachnia and call them a friend. In post-war IDW verse, they're a peace-keeper in Tarn.

Turbo: Fellow member of the Pandaemonium team. Turbo was the left hand and arm. Conjunxed to Nitro, and his complete opposite in nearly every way. Introspective, soft-spoken, and kind. In post-war IDW verse, they're a political activist, who teaches art therapy classes on the side.

It was raining on her trip back from Cortondo - of course it was. Paldea’s weather proved to be quite the experience, with storms and rain whipping up out of seemingly nowhere. It always ended as quick as it began, but this rain shower persisted. Serena had tucked away fresh bread the best she could into her bag, hoping the paper bag the bread was in combined with her actual bag would keep it relatively dry.

She was absolutely soaked to the bone. Wet bangs and strands of hair clung to her face, and her uniform would need several hours of drying. Thankfully she had spares, so that much didn’t bother her any.

As she neared the western gate of Mesagoza, the lights of the city and the academy acting as a beacon against the bleak, dreary skies. Serena honestly couldn’t wait to get back to her dorm, get into her fuzzy pajama pants, fuzzy slippers, and make something warm to drink. Maybe she could put on a movie in the background while she studied - or allow herself to nap a bit.

With her thoughts clouding her mind like the rain did the sky, she nearly missed a tiny bit of movement at the base of a nearby tree, raindrops shaking off the leaves of a bush from something. Her footsteps ceased, silver eyes peering into the foliage. It was hard to see, so Serena crept over quietly instead.

“Oh-” She’d say, quietly, words drowned out by the rain pattering against leaves above, “oh no... poor thing.” Serena readjusts her bag, crouching in the muddy earth below. It was... a Sprigatito. She knew of Paldea’s starters, having gone over them during their first biology class. A grass-type, and a rare one at that.

The cat let out a weak-sounding meow as Serena lowered her hand to him, shivering in the cold rain. He looked weak, clearly being carelessly abandoned and left to fend for himself. If she had to guess, he must have been roaming this area for several days now.

Crap. She didn’t have anything warm in her bag to wrap him in, and she wasn’t wearing a jacket either. At least they were close to Mesagoza, and the academy by extension. “Will you let me pick you up?” She asks, droplets of rain falling from her hair and clothes. There was a slow blink in response from the grass cat, his head lowering back to the muddied earth. He must have used the last bit of his energy earlier to move in hopes that someone would see him.

Serena carefully picked him up into her arms, the Sprigatito making no moves of protest or to fight back. He... must have been putting the last of his faith, his hope, and his trust into her. It was all he had left, and Serena wasn’t going to leave him out here alone to suffer. If she hadn’t been passing by when she did, he likely wouldn’t have made it. The thought broke her heart, but at least she could help him now.

“We’ll get you somewhere a lot warmer,” she says, using her bag to shield him from any further rain, “and we’ll get you some food too.” Serena had noticed how light he was when she picked him up, ribs poking through wet fur. As she head towards Mesagoza now, she’d continue talking to the little cat. Talking about her classes, how her day went, anything really, to keep his attention on her and to draw focus away from how cold and hungry he was.

The city had never been a more welcome sight to her than now, Serena rushing up the academy stairs as fast as possible without risk of slipping. As she entered the school, she could feel eyes of other students in the library on her immediately, but paid them no mind as she head up to her dorm.

She counted herself extremely lucky that she was well-versed in how to handle a pokemon that was this poor off. Her teachings from Professor Laurent came in handy, even now in Paldea. With some small amounts of high-protein food, hopefully it would help with the malnourishment once he was dried off and comfortable.

Upon getting into her dorm, she turns the heat up a bit more, rushing into the bathroom to grab a towel to wrap him in, before setting him down on the bed. She grabs her heating pad next, thankful that she brought it along to Paldea for when she has bad cramps or pain, plugging it in and letting it warm up some as she went back to drying the Sprigatito off. With his fur adequately dried, she gently sets him down atop the warm heating pad, running her fingers gently through his fur. Large pink eyes stare up into silver, conveying silent thanks.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe here now. I’ll take care of you, and get you something to eat. I promise.”

The very short version is that Leo Fitz leaves SHIELD to process all of that trauma, as well as the fact that Radcliffe is his biological father (anyone who followed me in that era knows my URL was holdendadcliffe, it's my favorite theory, I still think about it daily), and in a year moves to the PNW (some smaller town outside of Seattle, far enough from the city that he doesn't have to worry about anything, I was undecided on the details) and becomes a middle school science teacher. There, he also runs into his... they aren't exes, because they never defined their relationship, but they did go on a date before Leo got dragged into joining the field team with Jemma. He's my original character, his name is Matthew Scott, he's a good boy who has a medical degree but decided to give up on that dream and become a librarian, completely coincidentally, in the same small town that Leo ends up in.

I wrote a whole fic about it, but before his death in s3, Grant Ward (I love him, okay? I can and will write essays about him *Jay voice* in fact, I have. many times.) wrote letters for a few people in his life as a sort of... apology? He was really obsessed with the concept of "closure" in early s3, and I leaned into that while writing and developing this little universe. And those letters got left to Thomas, with the instruction to deliver the rest of them. He kind of just mailed off the others because *gestures to SHIELD and how they treated him* but he had to track down Leo because he didn't really leave a contact address with SHIELD and purposefully dropped off the radar because he also wants nothing to do with them.

And when Thomas drops off that letter for Leo, they kind of become friends? Thomas, who was floundering to get his life back after SHIELD disrupted it, who didn't want to go back to working at the bank they found him at because it's not a Safe Place anymore. So, he also moves to that little town, and does the first thing he can think of, which is going through the police academy and having a stable job so that he can hang out with friends (honestly, just Leo and Matt at that point) and pay rent and all that fun adult stuff that everyone hates.

Lately, I've been thinking about a lot of AUs where Mouse finishes his tour with the Army and returns to the States but doesn't go back to Chicago? I have thoughts about him going to Georgia, continuing his connection with the military and using it to get a job doing tech for them. I have thoughts about him going to Los Angeles and becoming a firefighter (the 911 crossover AU is NOT thought through yet don't ask about it for at least another week) or becoming private security or something for rich start up entrepreneurs. Things like that.

It occurred to me, a few months ago, that he could have also relocated to that same small town, and become a teacher (I especially thought about it after rereading @kitthekazoo's Community Garden fic, because teacher!Mouse my beloved) at the same school that Leo teaches at!

I just thought it would be funny if the tech boys with parental trauma and other causes of PTSD became best friends??? And Mouse and Matt would get alone great (tired homosexuals who are kind of over being dragged to the bar every week, because Matt is sober and Mouse is trying to avoid anything that might become a slippery slope for a while until he fully adjusts to being in Not A War Zone), and then... Thomas is kind of his type???

Detective? Complicated relationship with his brother? Pretty eyes?

Mouse is simple and I respect that.

Bonus: Matt and Tommy rolling their eyes when Leo and Mouse start talking about their students and completely forget that their boyfriends are there because they're unhinged little science nerds

I love the concept of smashing my blorbos together in a chaotic AU and seeing what my brain does. In this case, my brain said "boyfriends!" and now Mouse gets to actually date a detective and have friends and a life outside of that little cage he was in for most of his run on CPD, and I get to make him happy!

Fun fact: Tommy is a piece of shit (affectionate) and definitely calls Matt "Mascot" because Leo made the mistake of introducing him as "Matt Scott" and, uh... the joke was too easy he had to make it

Natalia "Natasha" Romanova decided to retire from being a spy, SHIELD agent and Avenger. As long as no one tries to pull her back in to that life, she's officially done. Deciding on a new career path that's just as adrenaline filled and she can still use her abilities, she signs up for the fire academy. During her training, she's proven to be one of the best candidates ever seen in a while, and Captain Robert Nash requests her specifically because of her high numbers. Natasha moves back to Los Angeles, California after so long, and starts her new life with Firehouse 118.

New Verse: Hexcore Spirit

Following the explosion in the Council Chamber everyone is too busy/unable to do anything with the Hexcore for some time. During that time Sky awakens within the core. Left alone her abilities develop at a different rate although along similar paths.

First comes sensing her surroundings, sending out her energy in a technique similar to the echolocation used by bats.

From there comes more refined manipulation of her energy. This takes the form of learning to manipulate objects. This manipulation is rough at first but gradually becomes more refined as time goes on and she gains more experience.

That experience leads to learning to move the Hexcore around the room and to shaping the energy into dense walls that can act as shields or platforms.

The final skill she learns during this time alone is to shape her energy into a rough humanoid shape around the core. This is a precursor to her eventually manifesting a new body for herself similar to how Yordles and other spirits do when they chose to visit the material plane of Runeterra.

When she masters this skill she appears similarly to this artwork. Some details will likely change as time goes on but she will never get to a point where she can pass as being fully human. She will however be able to perceive the world more clearly when manifested and will have an easier time interacting with objects. The downside is that she will have a harder time using her energy since so much of it will be invested in maintaining her form.

Once she has mastered manifesting enough she will attempt to leave the lab and the Academy in general. She is well aware of the fact that as she is now, she would be seen as a danger to Piltover and would be destroyed. So her plan is to gather what she can from her apartment and flee to Zaun if not further where she has a better chance of surviving.

Earth-1048 (spider-man games) verse !

important note : i haven’t finished the second game yet. but i believe i’m almost at the end & i’ll probably add more things later but for now, this is how i imagine scarlett’s life on earth Earth-1048:

→ scarlett’s story remains pretty much the same here—the avengers exist there too so that’s perfect.

→ she lives in the city with her parents ( my headcanon is that they live in little odessa bc it kind of lines up with a black widow comic but that's just my personal headcanon & it's not set in stone. it's just to give me some kind of personal reference ) & she's already pretty used to having 2 spideys acting in the city.

→ i've mentioned this before, but i'll say it again—the scene back in spider-man: miles morales where hailey talks about a friend named scarlett inspired me to imagine my scarlett as that friend. it lines up perfectly & imagine they'd be good friends. and yes, scarlett wanted a picture with miles. whether she got it or not, we'll find out later.

→ as for how she and hailey met and became friends, i imagine it was at F.E.A.S.T. because scarlett volunteers there and often befriends the kids in the area. she was very impressed with hailey's artistic talents, approached her & the rest is history. scarlett also knows asl, which i imagine it would make everything easier for them.

→ having scarlett & hailey being friends makes her around miles age. which, again, isn’t far from my main verse.

→ i imagine scarlett goes to midtown high and after that she’ll be joining shield academy ( same as her main verse honestly ).

→ she still acts as a vigilante on her own, but she rarely cross paths with the spiders. it can happen, of course, but it’s not always. i also  i don’t see scarlett actually taking part in any of the major events there ( i can see her watching them in the news or being near and talking about it and stuff ) but i can see her fighting some hunters in the city. this also can be plotted differently.

yeah so—these are just some ideas i've been having & thinking about for the past few days but i’ll be developing more as i finish the game & get to write more on this verse. i’ll post more headcanons soon & of course, feel free to ask if you’d like to know something i haven’t mentioned :)

01: your blended vampire verse would work with my blended tvdeu-night world verse; flori could either be a member of the cullen family (as she is in her twilight verse) or a salvatore student (which she is or was in every other verse). rachel being a witch-vampire hybrid would be interesting because flori hails from a powerful witch bloodline too but can't access magic due to her vampirism. (or can she and it's not common knowledge yet, 'causing rachel to help her out? guess we'll find out! ;P) either way, flori befriending rachel and helping her turn her humanity back on? big yes.

Jemma only ever wanted to be a SHIELD Agent. She graduated at the top of her class from the SHIELD Academy of Science and Technology with dual PhDs at 17, and spent several years working in SHIELD's research division before joining a field team. Jemma loved the thrill of the field, until it nearly killed her. SHIELD was officially dissolved after the fall of the Triskelion. Eager to stay in the United States, Jemma quickly joined Stark Industries as a member of their Research and Development department.

Initially working on a variety of projects, Jemma was then recruited to verify the integrity of the arc reactor technology powering the Iron Man suit, which led her to focus on biomechanical prosthetics. Following that Jemma began working on projects of her own, and is currently focused on developing non-lethal neutralization techniques for humans and enhanced humanoids.

After the literal fall of Sokovia, Jemma realized that is it not only enhanced humanoids who have the capability to endanger the world. However, she continues to try and see the good in people. Jemma has also been known to assist in other endeavors for Mr. Stark or her former team, and with her medical background, Jemma is often called upon to offer first aid or surgical care for the Avengers.

Where to find her

Jemma can be found in and around the Stark Tower on a daily basis, to assist with problems that fall under her areas of expertise.

Jemma regularly eats at the Flame Diner in Hell's Kitchen, and once a month meets with a member of her former team there for a meal.

On Friday afternoons, Jemma spends time in the city, attending art exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, reading through the New York Academy of Medicine's rare book collection, or visiting oddities like the Morbid Anatomy Museum.
