Because ya know, I felt like sharing pictures of the new puppy my family is getting mid December. He is a Shiapoo (shiz tu and poodle mix) so he is just going to be a small dog, no more than ten pounds fully grown. And his name... his name is Chewie, as is Chewbacca.

Im never quick to pass judgement on a new job, but so far, its........ Its so great........ I spent ALL of yesterday's shift sitting behind the counter with this half pound BABY in my lap

One of my favs from working at pet stores:

Young family comes in looking to buy a dog for their elderly parent.

Every. Single. Time. They would want a tiny dog assuming small dog = easier to take care of (WRONG).

"Ok so you want to get this shiapoo... They can be very high energy and high coat maintenence and can have some health issues. Does your mother see very well?"

"Uh no not really"

"Ok... Does she walk well?"

"No.. She needs a cane in fact..."

"Okkk... So do you still want to get her a high maintenence harder-to-spot dog that will run around her feet?"

".................. No :( "

And then I would point them in the direction of a better choice.

But yeah.. I swear it drove me nuts the number of times someone wanted to buy their aging sickly parent a tiny high-maintenance dog.

Someone: “I want a cat/rabbit/other animal that will be super openly affectionate, go for walks, play fetch, not mind being handled rough, never be shy, and also I don’t want it to claw me or the furniture(so I’ll probably get it declawed) and I don’t want to ever clean a litter box or cage.”

Me: “Hey there’s this great new type of animal you might be interested in:”

Someone: “I want a dog but I don’t ever want to take it for walks or exercise it very much or let it outside and I want it to be fine with being left alone for longer periods of time and also never bark.”

Me:

Someone: “I want a cat or dog but I want to only feed it a vegan diet.”

Me:

Someone: “I want to have a pet but I basically never want to interact with it.”

Me:

Someone: “I want to get my kid a cute pet for Easter/Christmas!”

Me:

Get a pet that fits your needs. Don’t get a pet then try to force it to fit your lifestyle. Just because you saw a person walking a rabbit once doesn’t mean you can expect a rabbit to just be a dog. Just get a dog!
