Adiah fanart from the "Beasts of Prey" trilogy. I envisioned her as a hairless (except for the tail tip) lioness with pitch-black eyes.
[ID: A traditionally done lined drawing of a lioness-like creature without fur. She is in a walking pose in the direction of the audience and has pitch-black eyes and long claws. The text "ADIAH - The Shetani" can be seen below her. End ID.]

the use of the word "king" in the english localisations of souls games is interesting to me
in japanese, the kanji 王 (king) is used in a lot of characters' titles. in english, this is mostly localised as "lord". 墓王 (grave king) becomes gravelord, 薪の王 (king of fuel/king who is fuel [for a fire]) becomes lord of cinders, エルデの王 (king of elden, written phonetically as "erude") becomes elden lord
but there are some exceptions to this; a handful of characters whose names contain 王 retain the title of king. nameless king's title is a direct translation from 無名の王, and morgott (忌み王) also remains "omen king" in english. i wonder why these characters are localised as kings when nobody else is...
(sidebar: 忌み/omen is interesting. in this context, i think it would more literally mean "taboo"? which isn't quite the same, but "omen" carries a similar implication of something abhorred or dreaded, so you can understand why they want for it)
(sidebar 2: the old lords of bloodborne are actually not an example of this. watchdog of the old lords' name uses 主 rather than 王, meaning master or head of a household. 主 also appears in manus' title, where it is localised as "father". presumably in both cases a less direct translation was chosen for the sake of sounding cooler)
i don't really have a conclusion for this post, i just think this stuff is neat ^_^
#my understanding of japanese is very limited so i'm going mainly off dictionaries and shetani's boss title analyses#please let me know if i got something wrong here#bones.txt#dark souls#elden ring

personal opinion on a certain game series fandom that might get me executed online, but this is my blog and I do what I want, so:
vaati//vidya's impact and grasp on Soulsbornering fandom makes me understand the ancient Greece/Mediterranean historians and archeologists with their deep seated anger towards Heinrich Schliemann.
#it's always the MOST blandest and easiest of takes in the videos#and THEN you go through internet to find some of the sources and turns out there's references/taken (stolen) content#W/OUT ANYONE'S PERMISSION UNTIL AFTER THE VIDEO IS DONE AND PUBLISHED#like. the fact that EVERYONE recommends you watch his videos after ending the game puts him on a pedestal#and a lot of ppl after watching agree! this is an interesting well put well voiced opinion#while I'm here 'you are using simplest of theories and got onto a golden mine with your voice but this isn't that new or cool'#Varya rambles#the fact that EVERYONE esp the most recent YouTubers recommend watching him first while discussing their theories is a tragedy#anyway. ZullieTheWitch + Hawkshaw + Shetani's Lair are my recs for a more varied take on the games

I wrote my own version of Jeff The Killer in 2015, and despite loving this version I dropped him.
There's a new Slenderverse project that's about to start, it's called Blessed Be The Wicked, and here's the trailer, here on Tumblr you can find two the creators, @official-locke-writing and @anton-morrow (Tumblr is being stupid and doesn't allow me to tag, like it doesn't allow me to put a link at the first try, smh) and their Jeff is the reason I'm handling my own Jeff once again.
I'm grateful for them and their amazing job.
I hope you'll like my Jeff, and how much my autistic ass was fixated on studying Christianity in 2015, despite being pagan.
Regards,
[Redacted], in art Shetani Bonaparte

The Woods were the perfect family.
Margared was the perfect wife and the perfect mom, always so sweet and caring, always so lovely with her boys.
Peter was the perfect husband and the perfect dad, always so romantic with his wife, always by his sons' sides.
Liu and Jeff were the perfect kids, always good at school, always so respectful and obedient.
They all did charity work together, and were sitting in first row at church every Sunday.
The Woods were a very religious family, after all, and it wasn't rare for Jeff and Liu to be involved in some church activities during the week, or during the summer break.
And that day, the four of them posed for the camera, among their family and friends, in front of their newly bought house, ready to start a new Life in a new city.
The photographer smiled at the results of her skills: the perfect photo of the perfect family.
But all that perfection can cause idolatry, and idolatry only leads to destruction.

a while ago there was a blodoborne lore guy who i was like "ugh! this guy doesnt know what hes talking about!" over some statues he argued were depicting people looking up at an unknown astrological event but now i think he is kinda right. after watching the shetani's lair video, which argues pretty convincingly that a meteor severed the "divine realm" from the rest of the world of sekiro.
like, first of all: fromsoft loves to repeat itself. if something has appeared once in a game, its probably appeared prior or will appear again. they love to iterate on a theme over there. they also love to lightly reference japanese cultural knowledge that is lost on my dumb ass. but prior to this, the importance of an external, extraterrestrial force flying in and suddenly up-heaving the balance of the known world had not occurred to me.
in bloodborne, this is explicitly referenced but in the classic fromsoft "saying without REALLY saying it" way: the burial blade and the blade of mercy were forged from meteoric iron. oh my fucking god are you kidding me right now. sorry i just did a google search and realized something else lol. fuck hold on. look i can't find like a plain english wiki page about forging swords with meteoric iron in japan so youll have to take it from this nasa abstract. it was an uncommon practice due to scarcity and i think the swords kind of suck lol. however, the thing about iron from space is that its magnetic, which is how the first "trick weapons" operated: the blade of mercy is two blades magnetized together and the burial blade is just a magnet that flicks loose.
dude what in the hell. i have learned so much useless shit from this game. okay: japan wasnt the only nation to forge with iron meteorites; the indian (esoteric buddhism/shugendo/vajrayana buddism is also a recurring theme, for real) kris is famous not only for it's uncommon snake-y shape (....snakes are also a recurring theme) but the patterning of the metal, called pamor. this unique pattern is achieved by use of meteoric iron during the forging process.
now look at the weapons used by the ancient race of pthumerians
def proof that multiple meteors have landed in yharnam.

“It’s not about the dirt, little prince..” Shetani shook his head, an ear flicking briefly to rid himself of a fly. “I’m digging because of what’s beneath the dirt…” A few more times through, and he’d dug a sufficient enough hole, pausing to briefly sniff at the hole he’d dug, before Shetani simply placed his hoof in the hole once more… and pushed down with all his weight.
Within moments, water bubbled up from beneath the dirt, filling the hole. The kudu paused a moment to take a drink from the water he’d summoned. It wasn’t the first time he’d done this, more often during the dry season when water was far more scarce, but it was also his way of avoiding interaction with others at the water hole. Shetani, as odd as it was for a kudu to be, was a solitary sort of individual. He kept to himself and didn’t gather among the herds of his kind. Not to mention that doing this to get a drink instead of going to the water hole was far safer than risking encounters with crocodiles as well. Once finished, he lifted his head and turned his attention back to the cub.
“But none of this is the reason I advise you to leave, young prince.” He acknowledged. “I’m soon to depart this area myself, being that it will soon be overrun by Ngurumo’s herd.” Ah, yes. Ngurumo and his herd of cape buffalo. Fierce and dangerous animals, they didn’t take kindly to any who got in their way, especially considering their poor vision and hearing, but Ngurumo was especially problematic. After all, he was frequently referred to, among other residents of the savannas, as the head of the Dhoruba Mafia. He had the attitude of a mafia kingpin too, having no qualms about trampling anyone he came across, whether they were royalty or not.
“So. If you value your life, my young royal, you would be wise to heed my warnings.” Shetani added, now beginning the trek away from the area. “Ngurumo and his Dhoruba Mafia always come this way soon as the sun reaches its peak in the sky above, there is never an exception to that. And…” A pause to look toward the sun. “We have only moments left until the sun does just that.”
jabbers-wild-world:
Shetani eyed the cub carefully. He may be blind in one eye, the scars torn through it being perfect evidence of that, but he had sharp attention to detail. Sure, a curious lion cub was harmless for the most part, but too curious.. and that could lead to trouble. A brief flick of one ear, the kudu’s expression interested but almost distantly so.. and he shook his head.
“No, I don’t need any help.” He acknowledged. “But you might if you don’t leave this place quickly, little prince.. Very quickly..” With his warning being sufficiently given, in his opinion, Shetani turned his back to Simba and returned to his prior business of.. Wait. What was he doing? He wasn’t grazing, he was standing on a patch completely bare of any grasses.. Instead he seemed to be digging at the ground, sharp hooves drawing deep lines in the dry earth.
“Huh?” That was a strange interaction though whatever the kudu was doing had certainly caught his attention. Peering around his back leg, Simba took a few steps forward pricking his ears forward before a smile appeared on his maw. “What’s that thing?” Now he was standing in front of the line drawn in the earth staring at it curiously placing a paw on top. Scraping his pawpads against dirt, Simba canted his head only spotting more dry earth underneath.
“It’s just…dirt. How come you’re digging your hooves here?” Some herbivores were weird, even Zazu had mentioned in his lessons but Mufasa had told Simba that he needed to respect all animals no matter the species. Maybe it was a different form of battling for supremacy, if there were any other signs of kudus here in the distance, or perhaps it was a hiding spot? The Prince had to find out.
“How come I gotta leave this place quickly if it’s just dirt? That doesn’t even make any sense…”

Spooktober day 29 teeth
A Lion King fanfiction for @tyronedatiger event Spooktober day 29 teeth and feature my demon lion from a early Spooktober story of mine, and made it a Shetani, a bad spirit in African folktales.
Faraji and his cousin Chaniya explore the badlands and Chaniya ask her dark orange and brown hair cousin, "Hey Faraji, are you sure that we should be here?" and Faraji ask his gold and brown fur cousin, "C'mon, Chaniya. Where is your sense of adventure?" and the male cub run ahead when he bump into a dark red fur lion whose said to the cubs, "Hello, little cubs. What are you doing here in my home?" and smile to show his teeth, which made the cubs nervous. Faraji quickly tell him the lion, "We were just exploring the badlands. We didn't know that anyone live here." and the red fur lion then ask, "Oh, then you never hear of the Shetani?" which Chaniya said, "I hear about the Shetani from my mother. It is said to be a monster that would destroy life and some said that it can take on the form..." and her eyes goes wide as she continue, "It can take on the form of a horned red lion." and the dark red lion said as crimson horns appear on his head, "I'm glad that your mother tell you about me, prey." and the Shetani attacked as he show his teeth, which Faraji and Chaniya quickly dodge and they run home, screaming in terror. The Shetani chase after the two cubs as he taunt, "Run as you can, little cubs. You will be a nice meal." but a white light cause the Shetani to flee and the two cubs soon stop once they reach a safe place and Faraji ask, "Why did he stop chasing us?" and Chaniya explains, "I hear that the spirits within the Tree of Life protect the area from monsters like the Shetani." and then said to Faraji, "We almost become monster's food, Faraji." and he said with a upset face, "I'm sorry, Chaniya. I just want to be brave when I'm king." Soon, the two cubs head back home as a angel watch their safe return home.

See, the thing is you cannot compare Doomstar to being a hero or exemplifying heroism. He’s not trying to be a hero; he doesn’t want to be one. Will he still stand on his beliefs of what is right and just? Without question. No hesitation. Does he actively seek to harm innocents? Never. He wouldn’t dream of it. Does he go out of his way to cause disturbances and be an awful person in the world? Of course not.
But that doesn’t mean he sits idle and lets bad things happen if he can stop it. The single most relevant example is Doomstar versus the Orichalcos. He’ll fight the Orichalcos tooth and nail. He’ll invoke any means necessary — including and up to terminating the life of an Orichalcos user for harming and harvesting the souls of innocent people. One could argue that he’s doing a bad thing by taking a life — you make a good, valid point. One could also argue that two wrongs don’t make a right — yet again, another good, valid point.
But Doomstar was also a victim of the Orichalcos, and the war Dartz raged against Atlantis. When Atlantis fell and Aether died, Doomstar lost everything. In his eyes, the Orichalcos is one of the ultimate evils in the world. He wants to avenge Atlantis. He wants to avenge Aether. If snuffing out the Orichalcos is how he has to get the job done — so be it.
Doomstar acts more like a vigilante in the night than a hero. And he’s fine with that. There’s a reason why he’s earned two separate nicknames, and neither of them are filled with life and light and love.
The first, coined by @atlantis-prince is Reaper. A constant ghost of the past, a reminder of Dartz’s sins that will follow him until the day he dies.
The second, coined by @macabre-shackles is Shetani, meaning demon or devil in Swahili. Because Mac knows the monstrosities Doomstar can and does commit with ease. He knows a monster because he is a monster.
So no, no hero. Just a ten thousand year old spirit born from one boy’s fear and desperation to cling to life. A ten thousand year old spirit who watched his whole world sink to the bottom of the ocean, and was left to walk this life alone for an unspeakable amount of time. A ten thousand year old spirit who exists to fight back against his home’s enemy, by any means necessary. A ten thousand year old spirit who holds the nastiest grudge.

You Can't Stop Me | Comic Art
Still going strong with the remakes! This time, I wrote a 10+-year-old comic page from an old story scene on the old page that the first Naruto vs. Sasuke fight inspired me loosely. It was a quick idea back then, just like the whole story of that version. In short: The grayish lioness, Kwenda was about to go on a revenge trip to kill her family's murderer, Shetani. My fursona, Silaha stopped her and that's how the scene was made. Back then Silaha's name was Siana, but I went with the new name - but in Kwenda's and Shetani's situation I kept the old name since they are scrapped characters.
Silaha will have different lore in the future, I just kept the old one for this page - she was an orphan back then.
But it was fun to remake, at least for practicing comic page drawing.
Also, it was uploaded originally in 2023 to my DeviantART account called RomystiqueArts (the one that started as Metallica-fan-girl in 2009) that's the reason for the watermark.

What if Senpou Temple tried (and succeeded) to kidnap Kuro after creating the Divine Child so they could send the dragon home? Of course, they'd need to access the Divine Realm, so it probably wouldn't work, but talk about messing up Owl's plans for Hirata.
I've been working my way through Shetani's Lair's videos on Sekiro and their discussion of Senpou Temple and the Holy Chapters has inspired some ideas.

Stuff about The Skink in Yellow/The Skink That’s Yellow (TLG x Baby in Yellow Crossover)
Adding onto this post
- Off the top of my head, this prolly takes place in a zoo/animal sanctuary or whatever where you’re a new employee who has to take care of the skinks, especially Njano
- Alternatively, you could be a hyena doing chores around the Outlands or something and you gotta make sure the skinks don’t get into any trouble
- Starts off normal until Njano decides to “have fun” by starting shit like hiding food and letting his fellow skinks out
- Guess this also serves as an AU cuz Njano’s a scarily powerful demon. A shetani, to be exact
- His demonic form is very dragon-like
- Instead of baby noises, you’d get to hear Njano’s (sometimes useful) commentary and have to deal with him taunting you throughout the au
- His symbol is a painting of a lizard with the tamfo bebre inside (which means “the enemy will suffer”)
- There would be a couple of subtle hints that Njano’s the villain. For one, while Shupavu and the other skinks genuinely like him and regard him as a friend, they describe him as “different”
- There’s a journal Y/N finds that once belonged to a previous employee, who explains how Njano has tormented them to the point that they had to be checked into an insane asylum
- If it’s the alternate version in the Outlands, then Y/N gets to find secret paintings instead of a journal
- Njano acts a lot like Carl from Llamas with Hats after something weird/supernatural happens. He’ll make a huge mess when Y/N is completing a task and when they find it, he’s like “now that right there’s a mess!” or when you find a corpse (human or animal depending on the setting), he’s all “Hey, don’t look at me. I don’t kill people. That’s my least favorite thing to do”
Y/N: Why would you think any of this is a good idea?
Njano: Probably because I’m a powerful demon with a lust for blood and chaos
Y/N: …..Oh
Njano: I don’t understand how you keep forgetting that
#help i actually love this au#i’m just making njano unhinged atp#my brain just put him in thr baby in yellow and it just went from there#why do i love demon njano tho? 😭#the lion guard

Storm (Ororo Munroe) is a descendant of an ancient royal line of white-haired, blue-eyed sorceresses (possibly mutants), who's defining physical features surface every five generations. Her royal heritage can be traced back to the dawn of humanity. Her family's kingdom lies hidden in the Great Rift Valley of Africa, the valley that spawned the human race itself. The power in her family is transferred from mother to daughter. Her mother, Princess N'Dare, rebelled against their tradition as she felt that she was forced into the role that was expected of her. She then married an American photojournalist, David Munroe, and lived in Manhattan. They then moved to Cairo, Egypt when Ororo was still an infant. When Ororo was five, she and her family were caught in an Arab-Israeli conflict. Her parents were killed and Ororo ended up buried under rubble next to her mother's body. Because of this, Ororo has since had a life long struggle attempting to overcome her severe claustrophobia. Ororo was never sought after by her own people in fear for her own her safety as her own uncle, Shetani, who felt left out and wanted to rule, threatened that he would kill Ororo should her people even try to find her. Storm, by birth, is the rightful heir to her family's kingdom and to the oldest royal family on the face of the Earth.
