Fangface: teenage werewolf detective

This is a Fangface fanfiction for Werewolf Wednesday. Fangface is a Ruby-Spears cartoon that I used to on Boomerang when I was a kid and I thought I give it a update for the modern era.

At the front steps of his house, teenage boy Sherman Fangsworth, wearing his red cap, yellow shirt, and jeans wait for his friends to arrived to pick him up. The text message from one of them seems important.

Sherman's friends arrived in the car, and driving the car is African American girl Kim Cartlon wearing a purple dress and jeans, her boyfriend football star William "Biff" Sutcliff wearing a gray shirt with a red stripe in the center and green pants, and Sherman's self best friend Pete "Puggsy" Colmare wearing his late father hat and a red shirt and pants in the backseat. Sherman get in the backseat and sit next to Puggsy, whose groans as Kim drive the car from Sherman's home.

Will said to the two boys in the backseats, "My dad, the police commissioner, had this problem catching this mob boss, so I said we sneak in where I believe his base is at and get evidence." Sherman ask Will, "Are you crazy, Biff?" and Will reply to his friend in the backseat, "Relax, Sherman. If things works out, we will get out of there alive." Soon, they arrived near a old warehouse and Will said to his friends, "There. This is the most important location for the mob to be at."

Sherman and Puggsy wait outside as lookout while Kim and Will enter the warehouse by the back door. Sherman said to Puggsy, "While this is making me nervous, Puggsy, this is externing. We get to be real crime solving just like in the tv shows." and Puggsy said to Sherman, "Too bad that we don't have guns like the cops do. Still, I will show him." Puggsy show off his boxing moves while he and Sherman fail to noticed a group of three men sneaking up from behind, "I will give them this, and this. Maybe a little of this."

Two of the mob guards hold Sherman down as one of them point his gun right at Sherman's head and said, "You should have followed your dreams, kid. Now, it is going to get you and your friend here killed." As the mob guard is about to fire right at Sherman's head, he start growling as his teeth become fangs and his nails turn into claws, causing the two guards to back away. Puggsy and the guards watched in horror as fur start to grow on Sherman's body and he begin to become more of a monster from a horror film. Sherman let out a howl as his face become more of a wolf. Soon, to everyone shock and horror, Sherman has become a werewolf, a big wolf that walk like a man but could killed like a monster, with his pants and baseball cap as what left of his human self. The duo that hold Sherman down before open fire with their guns, which miss the werewolf as he rush toward them and slash them with his claws. As the third guard run away and back to the warehouse, a scared Puggsy begs to the werewolf, "H-Hey, Sherman... Don't you remember your old pal, Puggsy?" and the werewolf let out a growl that made Puggsy said, "I guess not." and he run for his dear life.

Inside the warehouse, Kim and Will hear a howl as well the mob boss and his men whose they have been watching behind crates and one mobster ask, "What was that?" Just then, a mobster run inside and said, "Boss... you are not going to believe me.... We catch these teenagers..." and the mob boss said, "Teenagers..." and order his men, "Search around the place! There could be more teenagers around here!"

Outside, the werewolf Sherman chased Puggsy to a wall, where there was a billboard for a island location and Sherman see the sun on the ad and he start groans, "O-o-o.... the sun... it's morning... it's morning..." and the werewolf changed back to the teenage boy to Puggsy's shock. Sherman was a bit dizzy at first and then said in horror, "Oh no... I changed.... and rip my shoes and shirt off!" Puggsy yell at Sherman, "What the hell was that about you being a werewolf?!?" and Sherman reply, "I... I'm going to start explaning, Puggsy. Also, I need a new shirt."

After a long search, the mob catch Kim and Will.

As Sherman put on a new shirt, Puggsy ask the werewolf teenager, "Let me get this straight.... you are a werewolf..." and Sherman reply, "Yeah." and Puggsy ask again, "Your family are werewolves...." and Sherman reply, "Yeah. My dad is the alpha." and Puggsy ask Sherman, "You can turn into werewolves when you get stressed out and you can mental turned back when you see the sun..." and Sherman reply, "Yeah. A picture of the sun worked too. That full moon thing was just a thing from the movies." After getting his answers, Puggsy shout at Sherman, "Your werewolf form could have killed me, you... you... Fangface!"

Puggsy made a realization to Sherman, "Kim and Will may been captured and been taken hostage inside the warehouse." and Sherman said in worry, "Oh no... They are going to get killed in there!" Puggsy said to Sherman, "Will you calm down..." but stopped as he got idea as he recall the werewolf and said to Sherman, "Listen to me, Sherman. I got a plan to free ours friends, and it is going to involve the big bad werewolf inside of you. That fangface is going to be our muscle." and Sherman quickly shake his head.

Puggsy bust in the warehouse and shout to the mob, "Alright, gentlemen. Let my friends go, or else." and the mob boss laugh, "What army did you bring, boy?" Puggsy said, "I have unleashed my secret weapon." and the mob boss ask, "What secret weapon?" Puggsy reply with a smile, "Fangface." and give a whisper which the werewolf Sherman clash through the glass windows.

After dealing with the mob, Fangface march toward Kim and Will, but Puggsy quickly show the werewolf a picture of a sun on his phone and Fangface said, "O-o-o... the sun... it's morning... it's morning..." and turn back to Sherman to Will and Kim's shock.

The mob boss and his remaining men are going to jail thanks to the werewolf hero Fangface.

Synopsis:

Fangface features four teenagers — buff and handsome leader Biff, his brainy and beautiful dusky-skinned girlfriend Kim, short, stocky, and pugnacious Puggsy and tall, skinny simpleton Sherman "Fangs" Fangsworth. Puggsy and Fangs are based on Leo Gorcey and Huntz Hall of the Bowery Boys films.

Every 400 years, a baby werewolf is born into the Fangsworth family, and so when the moon shined on little Sherman Fangsworth, he changed into Fangface, a werewolf! Only the sun can change him back to normal, and so little Fangs grew up and teamed up with three daring teenagers Kim, Biff, and Puggsy. Together they find danger, excitement, and adventure. Who can save the day, who can wrong the rights and right the wrongs …. none other than Fangface!

In 1979, the second season titled "Fangface and Fangpuss" aired as a segment on The Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show and introduced a new character: Baby Fangs. Fangs' infant cousin turns into a baby werewolf called Fangpuss (which contradicts the opening narration stating that only one werewolf is born into the family every 400 years).

My Rating: 8/10

My Reasoning: I quite like this show. It has a bit of the Scooby-Doo vibe to it but of course, it has its own special qualities. I do enjoy the characters. However, I find a few of the gags get a little bit old. That's just my own opinion. It might not be something that bothers you. I definitely think this one is worth checking out. It is quite enjoyable and fun to watch. I think most people will enjoy it especially if they like shows like Scooby-Doo.

Saturday morning cartoons on a SUNDAY!

So due to popular respond to my Saturday morning cartoon requests, I am not going to wait till next week I am gonna post stuff and watch stuff all day TODAY! I realised I can mix this in with my BAD movie style of writing as some of my favorite cartoons are also the ones that fall into the “So Bad Its Good” category. 

Let’s start with FANGFACE or should I say fffffff FAAAANGFACE!!!

The Ruby and Spears animation company , masters of super cheap cartoons based on existing franchises or at least ripping them off. Cheesie yet honestly sweet heart fun shows even if the topic wasn't as sweet on the surface. This company would make a Rambo cartoon and a Robocop kids show. Anyways an early venture for them was a complete Scooby Doo rip off. I imagine the plot planning went exactly like this.. “So what if we had a gang like Scooby Doo , Tall preppy guy, sexy girls, short one and dumb stoner one and a talking dog. BUUUt the short one wasn't smart and the stoner and the dog were THE SAME PERSON. Thats right when Sherman Fangsworth (didn't try too hard there did ya) sees the full moon(or even a picture of one) he is transformed into a very loveable and dopey Werewolf . Every episode gives you some weird new made up rule about with Werewolf powers that conveniently played a key part in the episodes story. Totally dumb and a bare faced rip off as the team were mystery solvers for hire , seriously. However it was always full throttle, never boring and each of his team always had something funny to say. The only thing is you hoped FangFace would never turn back into really stupid Sherman because Sherman was beyond stupid and dull, which was probably done so you’d like his “Furr”Sona more.

Made in 1979 so even before my time. I did not actually get to see this show until I was an adult and it aired on Boomerang. It was only two very short seasons so if you have an open sense of humor or you are really high I advise you check it out.
