Audiobook Review: One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston
Tumblr media
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Cynical August meets mysterious Jane on the subway train, but their budding romance goes awry when August discovers Jane has been displaced by time.
One Last Stop is a heartwarming, character-driven romance focused on found family, positive LGBTQIA representation, and a captivating mystery. The audiobook is phenomenal! It's amazing how one narrator can create different personas and voices for such a large and diverse cast of characters. Unfortunately for me, time travel is my least favorite trope. I thought if anyone could cure my dislike for time travel, it would be Casey McQuiston, but I thought wrong - my hatred for time travel knows no bounds.

Book Review: Always Human by Ari North
Tumblr media
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Sunati and Austen start dating in this cute, sci-fi light sapphic romance. Always Human is utterly, breathlessly, beautifully illustrated. The colors and tone perfectly pair to the dreamily romantic relationship between Sunati and Austen. Themes of disability and ableism are featured prominently in the story, and bring about some interesting discussions between the two main characters. While I absolutely adored the images, the story itself felt unfocused and their relationship rather rushed. They went from meeting on a platform to being in a relationship rather too quickly to be believable.

Monthly Wrap-Up: May 2021
Happy last day of May! 🎉
I officially switched from Wordpress to Tumblr. While I enjoyed the last five years writing book reviews on my self-hosted blog, I found very little community interaction. And, honestly, I really enjoy the microblogging platform. I'm also updating the layout of my reviews. I wanted to create a more positive and impersonal (if not completely objective) review format. I'd like to thank Amanda over at bookish-brews for providing inspiration with her fabulous review layouts!
I had a decent amount of reads this month. My favorite of the books below was probably Nine Perfect Strangers. I'm excited to see how the show matches the book.
🎧 Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 Dance Upon the Stars by Nora Roberts (Re-read) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn ⭐⭐⭐
📖 No Words by Meg Cabot (ARC) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🎧 One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (ARC) ⭐⭐⭐
What was your favorite read this month?
