Nineteen days to my sixth Christmas with Anakin

Today, Anakin taught me about something called Halloween.

I must admit, it all sounds rather scary to me — Skelletons and bats and ghosts that don't seem to represent Christmases past, present, or future — but it does appear that being at least a little frightened is rather part of the point when it comes to Halloween, and while I would generally prefer Anakin avoid anything that might give him nightmares, it seems he's far more interested one of Halloween's more enticing elements:

Candy.

Entire pillowcases filled with candy!

People just give you candy!!

Well, no, it's a bit more complicated than that, I suppose.

From what I understand, you do have to dress in costume and speak some sort of ancient incantation [which Anakin assures me is perfectly safe despite the ritual including the possibility of a trick] but once you've done that, people just give you candy!!

I was very curious about the costumes, Anakin was gracious enough to show me his.

This year, he went as an astronaut, complete with a big bubble helmet and something called a Jetpack.

The year before, he was a superhero with a cape and underwear on the outside.

The year before that, a lion tamer.

Every year back into the past we went, the costumes got smaller and smaller.

He's grown so big.

Pilot.

Robot.

Pumpkin.

Cat.

I have missed so much.

When Anakin and I are together, a do not care to dwell on the days between christmases, it only serves to sour the holiday spirit, but perhaps even more painful, is thinking of Anakin in the in between. Thinking of him smiling and laughing and living so bright and beautiful.

I try not to think of Anakin when I cannot have him, but despite the aching pain, I am certain that from this day forward, when Christmas is fifty-five sleeps away, I will know it’s Halloween and I will find myself thinking about Anakin.

I will wonder what costume he chose.

I will wonder how much candy he will manage to fit in his pillowcase.

I will wonder how much he’s grown.

I will remember the night I learned about Halloween and how Anakin had begged Mom to make me a costume so we could knock on every door in the house and pretend we were trick or treating.

I will remember the smile on his face as she fit a pair of rabbit ears on my head.

I will remember the way he giggled and called me Bunny-Wan.

I will remember Halloween.

I will miss Anakin.

And I will keep counting down to Christmas.

idk why but you reblogging that ask u did about Peppino performing for Brick reminded me, and I just NEEDED to share this silly idea but... Peppino gardening... just, like, garlic and tomato plants n stuff, it's cheaper than buying all the time, even if he's not exactly growing enough to make that much of a dent in his bills, it's about the PROCESS PEOPLE and just aekssf Peppino in his little garden tending to his little plants and some flowers, it started out as something to help with personal costs but now it's such a soothing activity it's his little zone and he tells no one about it and making a pizza with his own home grown tomatoes just hits different when he's in a real rough mood. just yeah peppino gardening...

WAUGH this is so cute omg…I cant see him growing TOO MUCH bc some veggies are so fucking delicate but garlic seems doable! Same with stuff like basil and thyme and oregano. Its not necessarily low maintenance but you dont need to constantly get expensive resources to maintain them. Maybe he uses SOME of it for his shop but i can definitely see him using most of it for his own cooking bc hes been doing it since he was young, way back when he was still living w his parents (and he just got the habit from them)

I hc him with a small house (that hes forced to use as collateral to keep the shop open) so like, he would definitely have the space to grow some other small veggies like spinach n tomatoes. With his shop failing miserably hes got Plenty of time to at least go out and make sure theyre not dying 😭 But i can see him making it look more lively postgame when hes got the proper funds to keep the shop open. Old man tending to his tiny little garden :) its mindless work really and it keeps his hands busy. When hes more used to Gus and Brick (and any company in general lbr) coming over to visit; Brick helps with gardening too; his hugeass Rat Hands can tear up at the soil way better than Peppino and his little trowel can. And w the shop doing well he can afford to take days off and even open later in the day so he has more time to himself to do other things (like tend to his tiny garden) (or maybe fucking sleep in for once)
