Final batch is done! All told, I made 16 batches of soap, totalling 816 bars. Lemon Myrtle, Parsley Fennel Mint, Sandalwood Orange Lime, and Kakadu Plum. All made with gorgeous sheep milk. It was a huge marathon, particularly when I only had 3 moulds which would work for the batch sizes I needed. I had planned to take a few days off after this, but wholesale orders keep coming in, so I'm making making making for the next month to get on top of everything. Hurrah. (I might need a few hours on the couch with Netflix right now though) I had A LOT of fun with this order. Sheep milk is glorious to work with and I really loved the scents I was working with. Packing up all of the sheep milk soap ready for delivery next week. The lemon myrtle bars just looked so glorious in the sunshine that I couldn't help but snap a photo. All told I made 800 bars of soap, in four different scents. They'll be available from @grandvewecheeses in time for Christmas! This order was a lot of fun. Kakadu Plum with Sheep Milk and Activated Charcoal. I fiddled with the top on this soap for ages, and I'm not sure I should have. Turns out, working on a black soap with extra bright sunlight streaming through the north facing sliding doors was An Experience. Pink on black in bright sunshine is particularly hard to see. But. I enjoy making these ones a lot, and love how they photograph. This soap was glorious to make. It's a sheep milk soap for @grandvewecheeses again, using an amazing blend of essential oils (kunzea, southern rosalina, native pepper, sandalwood, lavender, and boronia). Boronia is worth its weight in gold, so I was a teensy bit nervous playing with it, but the blend soaped beautifully, and I love love love working with it. Kakadu Plum Sheep Milk Soap. I'm waiting on lemon myrtle essential oil to be delivered, along with some other bits and pieces, but thankfully I have plenty of activated charcoal and Kakadu Plum fragrance thanks to @cinderellashandmadesoaps who sold me some spare bottles from her supply. The fragrance shortages are starting to really bite and I'm glad I can still source essential oils, and also that I'm very good at blending scents. Not that much blending is going on as I work through this wholesale order - but that doesn't matter. Spring is sprung, my quail are laying eggs again and I am drowning in chicken eggs. The studio is staying closed for a time still - our framing timber has arrived and we're hoping to start the process of lining the entire shed and studio, so it can become Not A Shed. It's eventually going to be our new kitchen, dining room, an extra bedroom, AND my studio. SO EXCITING.
