Thanks for the ask, Pinky! apparently my brain has decided “gush” means “throw lots of random fun facts at everyone” today so here we go! Here’s your favourite tomato gal! :3

-She and Saarai were always twins and I’d always intended for them to be close, and the bare-bones basic premise of how I wanted their relationship to work was “Saarai is the brawn and Kas is the brains”. While this is still true, it did evolve ever so slightly in that Saarai is now also the (more reliable) moral compass. Kas isn’t particularly Dark-sided, but she’s not Light-sided either, she’s inherited a lot more of mom’s “I will do what I have to to get a job done even if that means I have to kill a bitch” attitude XD

-When I first came up with the idea for the twins, Kas’s name was originally going to be “Jen” which is the High Sith word for “hidden, or in shadow” (”Saarai” is the High Sith word for “Truth”, for reference ;) ) ; so their names joined together would have meant “Hidden Truth”. I don’t remember where Ni’kasi came from because it isn’t an “actual” Sith word nor does it have particular meaning (though I might try to make one up, we’ll see :P), but the very first time I went to write down solid bios for them I ended up writing “Ni’kasi” instead of “Jen” for her and it’s stuck ever since then.

-Initially, Kas’s colour pallette was a lot lighter, which you can see in all of her screenshots up till now (cause I forgot to change her when I changed the design earlier this year oops :’D) and also in this art piece I ordered of her last year, here:

and the twins were very darn near close to being identical, but I decided that I actually rather liked their dad’s more purple-ish skintone earlier this year and that it was a shame neither of the twins looked a bit more like him, so I changed Kas up a bit and gave her dad’s skintone, jaw spurs and eye colour. She’s got mom’s red-tinted hair and (mostly) mom’s ridge/browstalk structure though :D

-Great with her own kids and direct blood relatives (e.g. nieces, nephews, grandchildren), but kinda iffy with other, random children. She won’t hurt them but she’s very much D’leah’s child in that respect, she’s very “Sith-y”, and liable to be abrasive, unsympathetic and so on. Generally not the sort of presence you’d want around your kids... there will definitely be tears hahahaha

-The scar on her eye was originally going to be caused by D’leah in the same fight that she gets Saarai’s nose, when Ni’kasi got between them to try and break up the scuffle, but I retconned that instead when I re-thought some stuff about that so now she gets it from the Inquisitors after they figure out who killed Ty’s dad and come after them.

-This is also how Kas ends up in the slave pens, after they kill D’leah they throw Ni’kasi into slavery (which is a bit of plot armour/oversight on the Inquisitors part, I admit but shhh XD) and figure y’know “she’s never gonna get out of there again”. A lot can happen, and be forgotten, in 60 odd years tho so eventually they do throw her back into the Academy much to Kas’s surprise.

-She has a lot more scars other than the one on her eye, just that most of them are on her back, or the back of her neck, so you generally can’t see them (I haven’t drawn a scar ref for her yet, it is also on the to-do list lol)

-Aria’s hairstyle and general appearance actually came about because it was based on my second-favourite “portrait” choice for the PC in KOTOR II. She wasn’t how I saw my version of the Exile looking, but I really liked the design (including the little blonde fringe streak) so I decided I wanted to do something with it! <3

-We don’t get to see it much because usually when I draw her she’s back with the Sith and fully into the “Dark side” portion of her story and therefore her eyes are amber, but here you go, a nice glimpse of Aria’s natural eye colour! As mentioned on Myla’s ask, she has heterochromia as well, though her grey is “lighter” than Myla’s as she inherited the grey from dad and the brown from mom (yes I know technically it doesn’t work like that but basically I couldn’t decide which one I liked better so instead of agonising over the choice I went “one of each, problem solved” XD)

-Aria was actually the very first SWTOR-era OC I made, very closely followed by her dad, Roan, and then Vano, then her mom when I worked on her backstory, and followed by everyone else haha. I created her for an RP on an RP site that got a couple of posts in and then died/my partner ghosted me for whatever reason (I’ve never found out nor does it matter really), I was disappointed because I really liked Aria and didn’t get to “do much” with her, so I recycled her when another RP popped up, used that to build her backstory and prompt me to start the Subterfugeverse and then threw her into the Zephyrverse AU RP with my buddy k-christine once she got back in touch and we started RPing again :D -Aria gave me the most trouble (other than maybeee Saarai) in terms of finally nailing down what her sexuality was. I had no idea what she’d be at all when I first made her, other than I knew this binch wasn’t straight hahaha. So first, I defaulted her to bi, but then that didn’t seem to fit her much (I didn’t know pansexuality was a thing at the time), then during my self-projection phase I considered leaving her as just a lesbian but she wasn’t happy with that either and eventually I figured out pan is a thing and she started jumping up and down and screaming HELLO YEAH THAT ONE!! at me. The only thing that was for sure obvious to me was that she’s demiromantic, because while she can get around and doesn’t care who with (insert “will fuck anything (humanoid) with a pulse” joke here), the romantic feelings often attached to that for other people take a long time to develop for Aria.

The Iron Bull

How I feel about this character

Look, when I discovered I could romance The Iron Bull, 6-year-old me found her prince charming dreams come true. Why? Tim Curry as Darkness in Legend. My tastes have been odd forever. Pretty boys are exactly that and usually boring. And he's disabled, yet tall and strong. He finds himself a family? Also BDSM but that is probably more info than anyone has ever wanted from me. There is just so much? He is a big character, not even because of his size but because he takes up metaphysical space and does not apologize for it. And he's a spy! You would expect all spies in the Qun to be like Tallis and instead you have this motherfucker that could bench press a wagon and the horses. Also, his love of dragons mirrors my own. Spiritual bonding.

Dorian and tiny Cadash inquisitors because I am easily made happy. So much tall and small.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Sera. Mayhem.lace Harding. Viv, I love their dynamic. She mother hens this giant and he's just? So down for it? He's cool with being adopted.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I love him as is. Folks who say he's abusive I will meet in the pit. And I will win. Dealt with that in real life, get your purity brownie points elsewhere. Far the fuck away from me. Triggering? Sure. But that's a personal issue you need to work through, not take it on people who are fine with it.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

More of life after the qun. I want him to grow past that. There is just so much shit packed into that way of life and I want him to unpack it. Show your emotions! Feel them! With less sticks! Or more sticks bc honestly that makes sense.

And maybe make his relationship with Dorian without those sketchy bits. Like why the fuck were those even there. why.

Leliana

How I feel about this character

It took a long time for Leliana to grow on me. That whole chosen by god thing just grates. But it makes sense storywise! So I'm okay with it really. Hardened Leliana in DAI? Where is the sweet girl who sang around a campfire? Like I get it, she was in the game and the left hand but they idk. It really bothered me to see her so cynical and harsh. People change sure. But I don't like how it worked with her. Now her feelings of failure in regards to divine justinia? Yes, good. Also her becoming divine and basically razing it to the ground? She is probably the truest follower of the chant since andraste. Her reaction to morrigan being in orlais was...fucky. why make them enemies. Where is the setup for this. Wtf. I also dig that she's a redhead and an archer. I am shallow okay. But we do not see a lot of the fun Leliana in dai and I think thats a disservice.

Female wardens, any race are brilliant. I just can't picture her with a dude beyond using him to get something done. I like her with Josie and Morrigan as well.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Iron Bull and Sera, hold with me here, because she needs fun and to remember she can have it. Same for Lace. But I also see her being friends with Viv. And of course Josie and I kinda dig her friendship with Cassandra. She could be friends with anyone, until she stabs them I guess.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I think they wanted a hardass spymistress and almost neglected everything else. We get bare hints of the Leliana we met in dao in dai. Once again people change, but i think its fucky.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

No to the lyrium ghost? What the fuck? She fakes her death if the warden kills her. Boom done, and keeping in line with her Bard status. You can't tell me the chantry allowed a god damn ghost. Although, a lyrium based ghost could be corrupted by blight and thats scary. An evil Leliana, scary but hot. 

Merrill

How I feel about this character

She is adorable and performs blood magic. She's my one of my top 5 characters in this realm. She goes around picking flowers out of random gardens? Her pure excitement at seeing a mugging. I however despise her clan. The people who should have cared for her the most, betrayed her the most. And she restores an Eluvian, just how powerful of mage is she? Like yes i know she has a demon or whatever but she has far more control of that deal then Anders does with justice. It seems to be a healthy deal.

Isabela! You know she brings home all the exotic flowers she can find while shes on the sea for Merrill.

Also Isabela. They have such a good friendship in game? Puts marbles in her boots. 

My unpopular opinion about this character

Every time someone writes her as a sweet little pushover i want to sacrifice them to the seven circles of hell. She's arguably one of the strongest mages we meet, and not necessarily spell wise. The will power she must have, she has a successful partnership with a spirit. She laughs at near muggings? You think balls that big would be a doormat? Gtfo.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

She should have been brought in as an advisor, arcane, elven whatever, in dai. Morrigan? The elven expert? Eluvian expert? A lot of that was based off well flemeth is her mom and she just felt a connection with research into elven magic. Sure jan. As a Daughter literally never do you listen that well to your mom. She could have been a knowledge buddy with Merrill. Even with Solas, they literally trust some rando that wanders in. A total unknown that spouts off about the fade that is suspicious use of elfroot sounding. There was an opportunity and they missed it.

Gaia I’m never going to leave…… this is going to be long. I’m  also going to add some npcs that I might use usually with my ocs, simply because I can and nobody is here to stop me.

For Gereon Alexius, was thinking maybe Valens for before his allegiances with the Venatori became obvious? Not have him as a pupil but maybe as the pupil of someone that works closely with him? Maybe even know each other because Alexius knew Faustus? In the same vein, maybe with Maxima? After he’s brought to the gallows of Skyhold during one of her stays? Maybe talk about the future and what the Inquisitor is going to do with him. This considering that Maxima doesn’t agree that the inquisitor should be the one dispensing justice when Alexius is a Tevinter citizen. Aus ahoy? Maybe, who knows!

In the same vein still, Ruber Sanguis I know nothing about him but please let me love him. Maybe Valens’ mentor? A family friend? Someone that is studying/helping with Felix and Caius? Tell me all about him please and thank

Please give me Fabien and Maxima. Still when she was Daphné? Only as Maxima? I don’t care. Have him invite her to Serault, add an assassination attempt and we have already something cooking. Or have her invite him to Tevinter since he is the scholarly type and since Maxima eventually opens a sort of theater/opera house, he would likely be among the guests.

Also with Fabien, have him be friends with Abel and Émilie? Maybe childhood friends so that they were to meet long before Émilie was even taken to the circle and both of them still had dreams of becoming chevaliers? Have them meet after everything goes down? So with Abel before the war of the lions but after the fall of the circle. With Émilie after the war of the lions? Have her go to Serault and talk to him and with some help she remembers who she is? Or maybe an au where her plan and the rest of the mages actually works and she escapes and heads to serault? Idk this is rambly but haVE IT 

The Architect and Loane only because that would high key make her shit her pants. Low key asking if he’s also gonna open a hole in the sky and have more demons spitting out, we already have one crazed darkspawn doing some serious bs on wardens we don’t need 2 pls Architect…….. pls

Clarel and Loane, because one is a warden commander and while Loane is one of the headscouts she also probably gets on Clarel’s nerves. Either that or Clarel finds her endearing. One of the two. Clarel was either one of the people that Loane had to basically badger to let her become a warden or she badgered so many people and annoyed them to no end that it would have eventually gotten back to Clarel that a dwarf from the north really wants to become a warden.

Pietrus and Loane something something related to being casteless? Well, Loane was never casteless but she has the brands tattooed on her hands. The only time she had to deal with the carta was probably when some dwarfs were brought to the wardens. Still feel like they could have some common ground? And talk?

On the other hand Bhelen and Loane. Maybe she was asked to go down to orzammar to deal with some darkspawn bs and Loane probably absolutely hates it. 1. because her grandparents left for a reason. 2. caves. 3. her grandparents left for a reason. It would definitely be the first time that she would be around ‘real’ dwarves and the culture around it and it would probably give her the biggest hives. Both of them somehow get stuck in the deep roads? Everyone’s worst nightmare? y/y?

Clarimond and Loane on their way to Skyhold to pass on judgement to Erimond? This because Skyhold is in actual Orlesian territory and who better to help out than a scout? Also slowly realising about the false calling and shit hitting the fan?

I was going to say Clarimond and Anora but realistically, she is married with Alistair (not happy), her father has been conscripted (more happy than if he was dead) and if she finds out about the dark ritual she will likely have a flat out aneurism. Not sure if this would work well or if it would just be a collection of ‘anora is fucking silentely fuming again’. BUT seeing how she is, I feel that Anora would actually like her a lot. Or depending on this quietly respect and be annoyed by her.

Bhelen and Anora could also be a thing. Not sure what thing, but maybe Anora coming to visit? Not sure if Bhelen would leave Orzammar considering the culture implications that it has. Maybe to talk about the possible invasion of Orlais if Gaspard becomes the Emperor? This depends how their relationship would be, of course, only if they were in friendly terms in order for him to understand ‘her plight’ would she talk about this. Considering he’s ‘underground’ he might as well see it as ‘surfacer problems…. anyway….’

Thrask and Maxima. THRASK AND MAXIMA. tHRASK. AND MAXIMA. He’s the closest to a father figure she has gotten and to have an actual templar treat her like a living breathing person? A concept that gives her hope to the world and an order that often feels just full of drones. In that one verse where you splash me full of pain (you know the one, don’t even try me) or just in one that he realises that Maxima lies. a lot™. Just give it to me. Thrask and Adeleide (Émilie and Abel’s mom) could also be interesting. Both of them lost their children and Adeleide grows very bitter about the chantry and everything related to it, especially when the Montsimmard circle allows for mages to be let out while she can’t see her daughter since she was nothing but a girl. Could also put Émilie into the picture, either during one of his visits to the White Spire or after. Maybe both!

Feynriel with Maxima? Probably as a friend of Valens to be introduced. I just find it interesting because of the obvious: both being elf-blooded though his status is out there and hers isn’t. It could be interesting to see how that affects his stay in tevinter and what doors are closed to him/slowly open and what Maxima could do to help him and actually slowly gain hope for elf-blooded people in the world. Actually see that people like them have a place in the world.

Keeper Zathrian and the priestess; maybe when she’s looking for people for the Faithful? Maybe when she’s with the Inquisition? Anyway I think it would be fun, two old people being old and annoyed together. Also he could definitely help her fill in the gaps and she could, in exchange, provide him knowledge that she hasn’t given anyone (she would likely do it begrudgingly but… you know)

I honestly didn’t say anything about Gaius because I haven’t read the comics yet, I should but I haven’t so…. I also wanted to think about things for the rest of your characters but nothing too clear came up and also….This got… really long.I’m not even sorry, sue me.

01) Favourite game of the series?

Origins, only because you got less and less op as a mage as the games went on. I love all the games tbh.

02) How did you discover Dragon Age?

My friend got my sister into it. They kept talking and talking about it so finally I was like “ok lets see what the big deal is” and here I am now

03) How many times you’ve played the games?

I’ve done Origins twice fully, DA2 four times fully (omg I didn’t realize this until now lol) and DA:I just once fully. I have one unfinished playthrough of Origins with a Cousland, and I’m in the middle of maybe two of DA:I. I think I’ve gone back and replayed certain parts of both Origins and DA:I plenty of times.

04) Favourite race to play as?

Elf I guess? Though I’ve only fully played as a human and elf. I’m in the middle of a dwarf playthrough and I’m thinking of doing a qunari one in the future. It might change idk.

I just really liked playing as an elf in Origins so that’s why I got into elves. But the funny thing is, I wasn’t even thinking of playing as an elf when I played for the first time. I wanted to play as a human. I just did it on a whim.

05) Favourite class?

Mage, hands down. Realistically, they’re the most versatile class. They can do range and melee since anyone can learn how to fight with weapons. But the last two games won’t let you so :)

Also, this stems from the fact that I’ve been a harry potter fan since I could remember.

06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?

In my full, proper playthroughs that I’ve finished, it’s slightly different but still the same basic ideas. Sided with mages, agreed with Anders, etc.

But I am planning to try an evil playthrough in the future so

07) Go-to adventuring group?

DA:O (I have two)

Leliana, Wynne, Shale - the OG crew; they were my main crew in my first playthrough and it was a pretty even party

Zevran, Leliana, Alistair - the elf crew; esp. with Rhian they’re all elves because I saw a theory that Leliana is half elf and I’m down

DA2

It’s a mixed bag. If I’m not playing as a mage, I usually take Anders a lot because we need a healer and Merrill can’t heal. I tend not to take Sebastian as much after I max his friendship. After Sebastian, I take Aveline the least. Other than that I just mix it up. Unless I’m romancing someone, then I take them every time.

I’d love to take Anders, Fenris, and Merrill out more often but I hate how mean they all are to each other (looking @ u bioware 👀)

DA:I

My first playthrough, I mixed it up a lot in the beginning but then I ended up bringing Solas, Cole, and Blackwall a lot near the end for some reason?

I love taking Vivienne, Dorian, and Solas out, especially if I’m playing a mage, because it’s such a pretty fireworks show

In general though, if I’m romancing someone I take them with me almost always.

08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?

I think it’s a tie between Rhian and Lu.

09) Favourite romance?

To no one’s surprise, it’s Zevran :3

Solas is second because I just really like that angst.

10) Have you read any of the comics/books?

I’ve read The Silent Grove, Those Who Speak, and Until We Speak (because someone gifted me the Omnibus) and The Calling.

I also have Hard in Hightown, which I should probably read lol, and the art book of inquisition.

11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?

The Calling solely because of my mom Fiona and my dad Duncan. 

12) Favourite DLCs?

Awakening because I love everyone and its also really funny that Rhian, who is 19 at that point, had to basically babysit people older than her and also run a whole arling.

I love both Legacy and Mark of the Assassin. Mark of the Assassin was really funny (though I hated the stealth part). I love Legacy specifically because when I was fighting Corypheus, both Varric and Anders K.O.’d and it was just me and Carver. It was a special family moment bringing down a whole entire magister together. I also hc that that was canon and it brought Kaia and Carver closer together.

13) Things that annoy you.

I’m gonna talk about the game bc if this is about the fandom, then that’s a whole other thing.

Anders’ writing for one. It doesn’t make sense that he’d approve of giving Fenris back to Danarius. And also that he wouldn’t tell f!Hawke that he’s bi? Then there’s the fact that Anders, Fenris, and Merrill all don’t get along when they have a lot in common.

Anything that was written by Lukas Krisdkjsdhkdk. Aveline, Sera, etc. he did a really bad job.

Also didn’t like that mages got less OP in the last two games.

There’s also the tone-deafness? Dorian, a brown man, saying slavery is ok. And also there’s the dialogue between Solas and Vivienne where Solas supposedly “owns” Vivienne. I think he says something like “may you learn”? Solas, a white person, saying this to Vivienne, a black woman, when there’s obvious colorism in Thedas? I think not.

There’s probably other but I can’t think of them right now.

14) Orlais or Ferelden?

Orlais is too snooty and Ferelden doesn’t season their food. I pick Seheron and Laysh because that’s where the Asians are at.

16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?

Originally, my canonverse was Rhian, Kaia, and Luwalhati. Alden and Bolin were part of an AU. Then Alden finagled his way in there, then I decided to have Bolin in there too. So now i have twin Hawkes and Bolin is part of the Inquisition (if he’s a companion or not, I haven’t thought about)

I have plenty of other OCs that I’m planning on, but they’re currently sorted into a different universe.

17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)

Pikamon for the Origins mabari. It’s a mix between the names of my two dogs, Pikachu and Cinnamon

Cinnachu for the DA2 mabari, also a mix of Pikachu and Cinnamon.

Lu’s mount is the royal sixteen (hart), which is given to you by Clan Lavellan if you manage to keep them alive iirc, and its name is Luntian, the tagalog word for green which is her favorite color. (In a teen!Lu AU, her mount is the bog unicorn bc she’s an edgelord)

18) Have you installed any mods?

It would be more surprising if I didn’t. How else would I manage to have my characters look like the’re poc?? And also get rid of whitewashing and have some continuity. I usually just do cosmetic mods if it’s my first playthrough. Then I do like “cheats” after I finish the game fully.

Fun fact, I once spent like 2+ hrs modding Origins to have the Zev romance the way I want. I also stayed up until like 5am trying to make Solas look like his concept art lol (it didn’t really work)

19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?

Rhian didn’t not want to become a warden. She read about them and thought they were an honorable order, but she didn’t expect to ever have a chance to become one. Her goal was to just go up in the Circle hierarchy, maybe even become First Enchanter. Then when the time came, she didn’t really have much of a choice.

20) Hawke’s personality?

Kaia is blue and Alden is purple

21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?

At first, I didn’t get what the big deal was with crafting. It didn’t seem fun at all lol. Then I tried it and was hooked. I don’t have them matching, but I do tend to try to match my Inquisitor with their LI in some way.

My usual procedure for armor in Inquisition is like this. I make everyone wear heavy armor and pick the materials that have the highest attributes, not caring how ridiculous the colors are. Then I go to tint them using a guide for each companion’s color scheme. This is the same for helmet but I usually have them turned off or have no one wearing one.

The only exception is Varric, Cole, and Blackwall. I have Varric wear the rogue armor that looks like his DA2 outfit, and Cole and Blackwall wear the Grey Warden heavy armor. I tint the grey warden armor using a guide for its color scheme.

I have Bull, Vivienne, and Cole wear their unique helmets.

22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?

Rhian - She’d probably want to re-do how she told Zevran that she wasn’t exactly dead.

Kaia - Taken Quentin’s threat more seriously and killed him before he got to Leandra

Alden - He has no regrets

Luwalhati - wouldn’t have taken Sam and Wis with her so they wouldn’t have had to have died in the conclave explosion

Bolin - None, all of his decisions led him to Dorian and he’s happy with that.

23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?

They’re all at least part Seheron?

I also hc that neither Carver nor Bethany die because Kaia was able to cast a barrier on both of them before the ogre got them. Then they both became Grey Wardens because Carver contracted the taint in the expedition and wouldn’t join the Wardens unless Bethany came with him too.

Another hc I have is that Sebastian didn’t leave when Anders was spared and stayed to help out. But he went his separate way after because he still didn’t approve of sparing him.

Oh shoot, I almost forgot. The most against canon thing I’ve done probably? Rhian didn’t do the Ritual but she did slay the archdemon without dying. Rhian’s an arcane warrior, so when she slayed it, she was partway in the fade. Being partway into the fade was enough for her essence, I guess, to survive it. But she’s not mortal anymore and kind of a spirit now? So she periodically has to chill in the fade because being in the real world takes a toll on her.

25) Who did you leave in the Fade?

In the game, it was Stroud. I killed Loghain and no way is Alistair gonna be trapped in there. Fiona will be sad. So I made Alistair king in the game only, so Stroud was the one that was left.

This is another off canon thing I did. In my actual canon, Alistair is the warden contact. The Hawke that comes to the Inquisition is both Kaia and Alden. Alden brings Fenris with him because he doesn’t go anywhere without his Boo-Boo. Bethany and Carver also come because Weisshaupt was being weird and it seemed like they would be safer in the Inquisition. Lu + her party, Alistair, Kaia, Alden, Fenris, Bethany, and Carver all come to Adamant. Because there’s so many people, everyone was able to escape the Fade. No one is left behind.

as a young child (pre-magic) she was pretty sheltered? she basically never went out without one of her parents nearby -- if she did, she wasn’t allowed to leave the plaza in front of their apartment. 

she actually came into her magic when her mother thought she was old enough to go out alone and sent her to pick up something for dinner. some bigger kids tried to take her money from her and :)

8. How does your character feel about religion?

she was raised.... technically andrastian. religion was kind of a mess at home but she really doesn’t remember a time before the circle at all, and she was definitely made to attend chantry services there. 

now she pretty actively hates the chantry. like she doesn’t hate individual chanters. she doesn’t even really hate, like, chanters with power like cassandra. she hates doctrine and dogma. 

also her introduction to dalish religion came through solas so she’s....not as dismissive as he is, but she treats it as purely myth.

22. Who are their friends? Lovers? ‘Type’ or ‘ideal’ partner?

she has a lot of friends within the mage rebellion. she’s quite close to fiona, especially (is this a mom?.jpg) and in my head for her as a companion, lysas (also a friend) sends the inquisitor to find her, hoping she’ll be able to talk some sense into fiona about the whole alexius thing. within the inquisition she’s good friends with blackwall, cole, dorian, and josephine. she also gets on surprisingly well with cassandra -- they don’t agree with each other on really anything but they admire each others’ strength and are just generally pleasant w each other. just don’t ask about magic or religion.and duh she b lovin solas. she hadn’t really dated before him. it’s dangerous to do in the circle and she was really too busy with the rebellion to commit to something romantic. she prefers mages and is attracted to kindness, intellect, and passion. 

40. How is their sense of humor? Do they have one?

she finds things funny a lot but doesn’t often make jokes herself. also her sense of humor is dry as hell so even if she is joking people don’t often realize it.

i hc that mages within circles develop weird, unplacable accents because the templars and mages in the circle come from all over, so you kind of start talking like everyone (and that there’s kind of a circle mage accent that varies just slightly, like british accents do from county to county). 

anyway, she tends to speak low and soft most of the time. she usually speaks quickly.

also she was sold into slavery when she was five and that’s kind of the opposite of sheltered.

she’s deeply religious, in some ways at least? like especially as herald she feels a really unspeakably strong and intimate connection to andraste. but being herald also opened her eyes to the ways that the chantry is ineffective and corrupt. so in a lot of ways she’s a lot like leliana, actually. she loves andraste and the maker and all that but comes to advocate for reform

22. Who are their friends? Lovers? ‘Type’ or ‘ideal’ partner?

she is very slow to trust and very careful about who she opens up to. her “partner” of almost a decade never really got to know her, she’s that closed off (also she fucking hated him lmao). she really, really trusts and loves varric (which sucks because she does in fact leave hawke in the fade). she likes and respects vivienne, but doesn’t trust her because she’s too close to the court. she and cassandra are insanely close, as are she and leliana. 

she romances blackwall. rosanna has a big issue with... like, she’s concerned with her own survival first and foremost and is really reticent to do anything that could jeopardize it. but blackwall is good and valiant and righteous and really pushes her to use her power to help people, and that more than anything drives her to love him. so his personal quest really fucking sucks for her. 

but he’s not really her type tbh jfdkfd. she likes the knight-in-shining armor type -- kind and brave and all that. blackwall is a little too anti-establishment sometimes, and a little too unrefined. she’s a sophisticate, alright? which is why i’ve been....toying....w the idea of her and cecil havin smthin. 

40. How is their sense of humor? Do they have one?

oh she’s very funny. likes she’s very charismatic and most of that lies in the fact that she can make anyone laugh. she tends toward uhh pretty lowbrow humor, which is particularly funny because she cultivates the image of an elegant orlesian noblewoman and then whips out a dick joke. i love her,

You said you wanted to know more about them all, so because this is long, I put it under a cut.

Here is the list for anyone who is curious, because I use group answers in a few of them (also if they are from something that is not my own content, that's in parentheses): Varey, Chanden, Sarai Lavellan (DA:I Inquisitor), Valera Cousland (DA:O Warden), Nell Prince, Kiera Prince, Jude Liebrecht, Eli Liebrecht, Asha Vidalis, Leo Vidalis, Maureen Shepard (Mass Effect), Mara, Cassia (she was actually Aster but I forgot I changed her name), Aria Doherty, Sol Vela.

1. What is their gender?

All of them except Chanden, Leo, Jude, and Eli are the only four males, something I working on with Varey and Aria’s stories, but all of them need more developing. The rest are female.

4. Do they have any siblings? How many? Are they older or younger?  Which sibling are they the closest with?

Varey had five four siblings, including Chanden. Nell and Kiera are twins, Leo and Asha are twins, and Eli and Jude are twins. Their story has stuff to do with twins can’t you tell? Valera has an older brother, as does Sarai. Mara also has a brother. Aria had a younger sister, but she died.

10. What are some of their talents/skills?

Varey and Chanden are literal manifestations of oceans. Nell can shoot lightning, Kiera turns “invisible,” Jude creates illusions, Eli teleports short distances, Leo reads/projects thoughts, Asha can predict near future. Valera is good at killing shit with knives. Sarai has a magical glowing hand, also good at killing things. Also has millennia of knowledge at her disposal. Aria and Maureen are damn good snipers, Aster is a mechanic. Mara is basically a DnD bard when I think about it. Sol is as close to a doctor as someone in a post-apocalyptic world gets.

15. What was something their parents taught them?

Aria learned how to sew from her mom, Sol’s dad taught her what she knows about being a doctor. Aster’s parents both taught her how to sing. Valera’s mom taught her her how to speak Clayne (I’m ignoring what canon says on this I think. Too bad.) Sarai learned how to dance from her dad. Varey and Chanden were taught how to act vaguely human by their “mother.” Nell, Kiera, Asha, Leo, Eli, and Jude never really met their parents.

18. What languages can they speak? Where did they learn these languages?

Leo and Asha learned how to speak Spanish from one of their instructors, and taught the rest of the twin groups the basics. Sarai speaks Elven and Common. Valera speaks Orlesian and Clayne. Aster and Maureen both have a universal translator if that counts.

22. What is their least favorite thing about their personality?

Maureen hates how much she cares. She logically knows she can’t save everyone, but any time she gets a casualty report her heart sinks.

29. How would they describe their own personality?

Sarai: “I take very few things seriously, and when I do, it’s always fun to watch people try and keep up with my train of thought.”

35. What is the easiest way to annoy them?

Valera will hit the next person who asks about the scar on her face and the ones on her neck. She doesn’t care if you’re actually curious or not, they aren’t your business. (The one on her cheek is from Zevran when they first met, the ones on her neck are from a dragon).

40. Who do they trust most? Is that trust mutual?

Aria trusts her friend Luke, Sol, and Sol’s family. That’s about it. They all trust her, to varying degrees.

45. How would they describe their own appearance?

Aster: “Tall, which usually isn’t good for a mechanic. White-blonde hair that shows the grease stains too easy. Green eyes. Too many freckles. Usually wearing the jumpsuit they give us on board, probably have the upper half tied around my waist if I’m working. There’s a tank top under it.”

55. What is their alcohol tolerance like? What kind of drunk are they? How bad are their hangovers?

Sarai and Aster out-drinks nearly all of their friends. Sarai is the “very affectionate” kind of drunk depending on the day, with a standard hangover. Aster is the “hold my beer and watch this” drunk, but has like no hangover.

60. Describe the way they sleep.

Varey, Maureen, Nell, Kiera, Leo, Asha, Jude, Eli, Aster, and Mara are all light sleepers who make themselves as small as possible when they sleep. They don’t move much either. Valera ihas a lot of nightmares, but doesn’t move around very much. Sarai sprawls out and sleeps like the dead until she gets the Anchor. Then she’s a much lighter sleeper. Sol is a dead woman when she sleeps, and never responds to anything. Chanden is a lot like Valera, minus the nightmares.

63. What is always guaranteed to make them smile?

Valera laughs at just about all of her husband’s jokes, sometimes out of pity. Sarai smiles very easily. Cute bird on the railing? Smile. Certain blond guy gets his ass chewed out by her girlfriend Josephine? Smile. Varey, Kiera, Aria, and Jude don’t smile often but their families (found or not) usually can get them to. Nell, Sol, Asha, Leo, and Eli are like Sarai.

65. What’s their immune system like? Do they get sick often? How do they react to getting sick?

Maureen only gets sick sometimes, but when she does, she is either a) impossible to get to rest, regardless of how serious the illness is, or b) the whiniest and most miserable person you can imagine. There is no in between.

71. How are they with children? Do they have any? Do they want any?

Sarai, Mara, Maureen, and Valera love kids, although Sarai doesn’t want any. Valera does. Sol, Nell, Kiera, Asha, Leo, Eli, and Jude have no interest in having kids, but they don’t mind them. Varey and Chanden are both very awkward--”what is this tiny mortal doing on my ship why is it here wHY ARE YOU GIVING IT TO ME??!?!?!!” Aster and Aria don’t like them, but are good at hiding it.

75. How organized are they?

Maureen, Aster, Kiera, Asha, Jude, Eli, Valera, and Sol, are all very organized. Varey, Aria, and Sarai are organized with help. Everyone else has no hope, even with help.

83. Can they swim? How well? Do they like to swim?

Varey and Chanden are manifestations of oceans, like I said earlier. They are very good at swimming, as well as Sarai, Nell, and Sol. Maureen doesn’t enjoy it very much, but she’s good at it. Valera, Kiera, Asha, Eli, and Jude can swim and are ok at it. Leo, Mara, and Aster are terrified of water.

90. Are they right or left handed?

Sarai is left handed, which makes using the Anchor a bit more dangerous because she has to put her sword down. Valera, Asha, Varey, and Sol are ambidextrous. Everyone else is right handed.

No chantry or qunari around its a lot of elves tho. refugees and what not from kirkwall and stuff. 

i unno if she’s an ancient elf but i know she’s old. like real old. so who knows

if she is ancient she probably woulda been like a priestess to ?? falon’din or dirthamen??? because seer shit but like even in a current state she’s fairly devoted to on e o f them or both? probably both lmao. so it’s w/e. 

she’s the former keeper of the clan revas got sent to, which is where revas’ mom is also from and how she gets to that clan. but she was keeper of the clan for like.. a long time like a long time. like that bald fuck from da:o  but without plaguing people with a curse. iunno how she did it but magic and better than that shit.

Warren; half-elf, half-qunari. big man w/ a bow.

i haven’t made a post about his shit yet so! this one might be a lil longer!! 

grew up in/around starkhaven. in an alienage somewhere really! but he’s got that starkhaven accent. probably just fumbled his way there because honestly he got fucking ditched by his people and has no idea who his parents are lmao. just knows his mom died during child birth and he was fuckin cursed essentially via his?? clan or something. that qunari bit of him is real obvious as his horns grew out and probably had a harsh life in an alienage. 

because he’s not an elf. but he’s not human. and he’s not a qunari. so he’s just. him. 

eventually falls in with some ppl who teach him to steal. so he does a lot and then gets busted and they fckn break his horns off and chop his ears!!! and throw him the fuck out. as you do. but they taught him to use a bow so he’s good with that. and knives. good at close quarters and a long range.

gets better with a bow. real top knotch stuff. ends up in a mercenary crew (same one as qunari inquisitor? probably.) enjoys his merc lifestyle ya know has a good time killin shit 

anyways. companion warren is p much like ‘Strength & force.’ because he has no tact and doesn’t care about politics. like one day i’ll have his approval / disapproval shit. but today is not that day.

but the same applies to his inquisitor shit. he’s fucking brutal as an inquisitor. cares about the little people but FUCK the rich. takes the well for himself ( tho if i would also say revas is there bc i can and she’d take it) but generally just!! give him power and let him kill shit!! that’s all he cares about. tho he wouldn’t kill samson or calpernia bc he doesn’t see them as enemies or villains truly? just pawns in a big scheme and he’d probably stare corypheus in the face and be like get fucked you saggy fuck

Revas: Keeper. Dreamer. Dalish elf. 

literally like most people know Revas’ Dragon Age basics!! but if you don’t i’ll just direct you to her old blog, so you know what’s up.  i’ll put it into a summary the best i can tho! 

Backstory: short and simple? #fucked.  expanded? she was born to the lavellan clan to one of the head hunters & warriors. ended up having magic so she was sort of training to become second, or first, till her moms old clan was like hey we need a new first so uhhhh help us out. and they traded some goods and revas went on her way. ended up being a fucked up situation where the previous first was murdered by two clanmates who eventually tried ( and did) murder revas but she came back bc lmao spirit help & ended up killing them and leaving for her actions.

Dragon Age: Awakening:  full page about it Takes place shortly after this event happened. she lived on her own for awhile, protecting people as much as she could from darkspawn during the blight. ends up going to the wardens because someone doesn’t appreciate her help since she’s a Mage.     The choices made by the warden in regards to her effect how she becomes a warden and the rest of the timeline. Sort of a branch off feel. highly recommend taking a look at the page and also this post. 

DA 2:  If not in the Awakening verse, Revas travels around to the clans. becoming a traveling keeper & helping the clans the best she can. As well as finding ruins and exploring man memories from lost objects. Eventually finds her way to Kirkwall to actually speak with Merrill. But some other shenanigans play out and some stuff goes down. Ends up helping in the fight at the end and leaving with Zevran ( @allurfavesrqueer‘s zevran only lmao. )

DA:I     Companion: Shows up in fereldan with some tree peeps. gets some elvhen shit. offers her services to the inquisition bc that’s what her spirit told her to do. and ya know real fucky. shares some approvals as solas but usually has some pretty contrasting opinions on things! Will defo take on the role of like older sibling or sibling figure with the inquisitor if they’re close enough. Be kind to elves & mages and you’re good.  ( also she’s an option to take the well if the inquisitor doesn’t want it) 

   Advisor: Takes up an offer by the inquistor to become an advisor which is more or less her using her network with the elves around the countries to do certain objectives and what not. acts a bit like an ambassador for the elves & mages in the meetings to give them a voice and remind the human board of trusteeeess that they’re fucking not the only ones around :)) 

  Commander: Mainly with @desiderrium‘s Cullen. Basically Revas takes over for Cullen? at his request kinda because she’s like what the fuck you’re whAT. and gets pissed at everyone else for keeping him on when he’s Not Okay even if she’d rather kick his teeth in 99% of the time. why revas take over? because she’s actually p fuckin qualified, gestures vaguely towards being a first and the advisor au. like she knows how to lead ppl so ayy. 

  Inquisitor: Same ish backstory happens except her parents died to the blight and she left the clan for the other and ye same shit happens. but the clans ask her to go check shit out for them and shes like of course and gets caught up in the mess so.

OH BOY MY DUDE, prepare yourself for all the info under the cut

1. What is their favorite word?

Uh, dragon, of course, at least I’m inclined to say dragon. In elvhen her favorite word would probably be “Enasal” or “Enasalin” which could mean victory in the latter or as the wiki says “joy in triumph over loss” for enasal. Just because those words mean a lot for her. 

2. How do they sleep

I mean, not that great in one way this could go, but we’ll get into the how she sleeps first, physically at least. She’s always cold and leeches off everyones body heat so she always keeps a shit ton of blankets in her bed. Not only that but her bed is a four poster with the curtains hanging off of them to keep in the heat, you can imagine her favorite season is summer, also winter because everyone wants to be warm.

On the more emotional side of things, Callie doesn’t sleep very well at any point. As a child it was hard to sleep because of nightmares that her mother would be able to soothe, but her mother died when she was fairly young, after that nights are really the worst time. It only eases a little bit when she finally gets together with her partners, whether in canon with Solas, or with Halla in their au, or Isidoro in my combined canon au with Alexx. Especially after Here Lies the Abyss she can hardly sleep because of both the anchor and because of the dead that call to her at night. 

3. Favorite companion

She wouldn’t really be able to choose if directly asked, even those she may not agree with she still loves in her own way for them. Her best friends are Cole, Sera, Dorian, Bull, and Varric though, out of the main companions, as well as Solas, because she romances him. Calliope adores all the advisors, including my Warden-Commander Mahariel who joins with Ophelia (my hawke) after Here Lies the Abyss. 

4. What secrets do they keep, untold to anyone?

Calliope is pretty much an open book to anyone that is fairly close to her, but she has some secrets that aren’t widely known except to her twin brother and the Inner Circle. Shockingly the secret has nothing to do with being the reincarnation of Falon’Din, which was pretty hard to keep out of anyones way once the ball started rolling. No, it’s the fact that she has such a hard time feeling like she is needed for anything, that she feels much of what has happened in the world is her fault. She also mainly keeps her feelings about her gender to herself and only lets people know what pronouns they should use for her, and it’s pretty much not spoken about as to what her orientation is, but everyone knows she isn’t straight. 

5. How do they feel about magic

Magic and the Inquisitor have a complicated history honestly. Both herself and her brother came into magic at the same time, Elessar accidentally froze Keepers feet to the ground while Calliope set a halla’s ass on fire and almost caused a stampede. She was not raised as a mage because of the high volume in her clan and they did not wish to be called upon by the Chantry, so Elessar was the one trained as a mage instead. Calliope was trained to be a Master and a Hunter, which she excelled at rather well; she was awarded the position of Protector of her fathers aravel when he went on excursions for trade. 

During Inquisition she comes into her magic with mixed feelings, she really doesn’t pay too much attention for a while. The spells she knows are really only fire based and healing based, as well as being the most basic. She has no problem with magic really, as many of her friends and family are mages. There are a few times when Bull says shit about magic that she gets very defensive and upset, but aside from that there isn’t much until trespasser. Her thoughts on blood magic are even alright with it really, as long as it’s consensual to both parties if someone else is involved. 

6. How do they feel about killing

She feels that it is a necessary evil, nothing more nothing less. If someone deserves to be killed than they will be. Callie tries to spare the innocent as much as she can. After all she is Falon’Din, so her views on death aren’t an end, and even without being Falon’Din she sees death as something that isn’t an end even if she grieves pretty heavily when someone dies.

7. How do they feel at night, in silence, all alone?

Badly, it’s all negative feelings all at once. She tries to keep away from this situation as much as possible.

8. Tell me about them in a modern AU

I actually have two of these for Calliope! In DA:I in a present day setting she’s still Inquisitor, at least eventually, but she comes from a farm/general store owning family from an elven town in the Free Marches. She’s trying to go to school in the city when the Temple of Sacred Ashes (a political summit in this au) gets blown to pieces, she was there to observe as part of a class she’s in for college, along with several other members of that class. 

In a regular modern day au she’d still be a college student, probably going for a double major in Religion and History. Her twin brother is going to college for Forensic Sciences, and there’s a lot of coffee shop shit, and falling for a good looking Grad Student who works at the school library.

Dalish Forest Comfort with Hearth Cakes!! I own the Dragon Age cookbook and it’s real good. Callie would love her cultures food even if other people would consider it to be plain.

She can tie a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue, also she’s shockingly good with the stable creatures? And I say creatures because have you seen the Dracolisks?

Calliope carries herself as a kind and easy going person, which gets some people thinking they can just walk all over her, where she quickly puts them back in their place. If they do it more than once she gets really angry, and no one wants to see the five foot tall reaver and reincarnation of falon’din angry.

Probably getting more angry than needed, and also she cries a lot but that’s not really immoral behavior?? She also won’t give mercy if she isn’t shown mercy. Calliope also hates no one except herself almost exclusively.

15. What was a turning point in their life

Honestly? The end of Trespasser. Calliope gets really hard for a while and bitter, thankfully raising Athim and focusing on helping people affected by Solas’ shit does give her back some softness that she lost. 

16. Do they ascribe to any religion

Nope, she doesn’t believe in Andraste, nor does she believe in the Creators.

17. How do they react to trauma

Depends on what kind it is, but usually she shuts down first, then gets angry, or really really weepy and sad. 

18. What is their relationship to their parents

Calliope adored both of her parents, her mom Imryll died when she was really  young but she paved the way for a lot of good things that Callie strives for nowadays. Her dad was the saving grace in a lot of situations so she loves him very much, she gets very depressed when he dies. Elgar’nan and Mythal are another thing altogether, she gets defensive about Mythal, and angry towards Flemeth for claiming to be her. Her “father”? Well she doesn’t talk about him a whole lot.

Yep! She has one! His name is Elessar and he is her fraternal twin.

Well the egg is her love interest in canon, but in the Pure World State AU, @charlatanreyes ‘s Isidoro Rosetti is her husband, he’s an Antivan Enchanter who’s very good and lovely. The other is the kickass Halla Trevelyan from @lorspolairepeluche !!

Calliope is nonbinary and prefers they/them or she/her pronouns, her orientation is panromantic demisexual.

Callie is very smol and stronk. Abs for days. She also has albinism.

23. What is their combat style and weapon of choice

SLASH AND HACK THEM, the bloodier the better, and her weapon is a Sulevin Blade with a master dragon slaying rune.

Calliope is afraid of uthenera/the long sleep, and failure.

25. Do they follow their instinct or hard facts

Instinct all the way, Calliope is very emotional and not a logical being at all.

26. How do they cope with sorrow

Not very well at all. Grief comes in large waves and she’s very empathetic unfortunately, even more than is healthy honestly. If it’s to a really severe level she’ll isolate herself for a long time because she doesn’t want to bother anyone at all with her feelings. If she’s pressed about it too she’ll flare up with anger, especially if she doesn’t know you very well.

27. What makes them burst out laughing

BAD JOKES. LIKE REALLY BAD JOKES. Also there was one time that Dorian showed up to a meeting with his mustache all fucked up and Calliope was very tired, she started going into a giggle fit that no one could cure. 

28. Tell me about their grooming routine

Well really all she does is bathe and wash her hair/skin, she doesn’t have much time for anything else. But sometimes she’ll have moments with Solas or her other LI’s and take long baths with nice smelling oils. 

29. What makes them blush

I MEAN, anything really, especially if her LI is teasing her. Honestly anything in front of other people will get her to blush really bad. Solas once kissed her full on in front of the group one morning in the Frostbacks, just a lazy kiss that he didn’t think much of and she was red for the full morning. 

30. What makes them cry

Injustice and death, which often go hand in hand. Sometimes she’ll wake up during nightmares crying, and certain memories will trigger crying fits if she’s not careful.

31. Tell me about their aesthetic

Blood, golden sharp teeth, green lightning, big ass swords, ravens, cryptic sayings, dragons, and sleep. Also bear hugs.

Inquisitor by R.J. Blain, a summary

Okay, first we need the basic terms for this world.

Feneric: Werewolves, they’re weak to silver and must constantly keep their animal selves under control. There are three types of Feneric separated into four social strata.

TYPES

-Born Feneric: the children who are born Feneric to Feneric parents.

-Made Feneric: Humans who became Feneric through a special ritual, this usually requires the person’s consent but it can be forced upon them.

-True Feneric: Feneric born under one of two circumstances- a human baby born to wolves, or a wolf pup born to human parents- they are extremely rare, valuable, and powerful Feneric

STRATA

-Alphas: Protectors of the pack, they are the strongest and most dominant in their packs.

-Dominants: Feneric that have instincts pushing them to take control of their surroundings and protect those they see as reliant on them.

-Submissives: Feneric who do not feel the need to be in charge, they are valued in their packs because dominant wolves are soothed by their presence, since they don’t see them as rivals.

-Omegas: Feneric who do not feel the need to be in charge yet still have all the same protective instincts of dominants; they are the rarest and can play any role necessary to stabilize their pack.

Witches: Humans who have connection to a specific element of nature; fire, water, air, or earth. They gain powers based on that element as well as boosted health and lifespan. They can also form a pact with Feneric to help preserve their humanity.

Wizards: Humans who can basically break most of the laws of magic so long as they are able to afford the price. They are killed by other supernatural beings on sight.

The Inquisition: A shadowy group that is part of most modern government and was born from the Catholic Church. They “protect” normal people from the supernatural. They often demand witches join them and wolf packs register themselves in exchange for the lives. They kill almost all other supernatural beings on sight, and offer massive bounties for same, as well as “rogue” witches and wolves.

The Shadow Pope: this person with a dumb-ass name is the head of the Inquisition, below him are the Archeons and below them are the Cardinals.

Now that that’s out of the way let’s get on with the story.

Our main character this time around is Victoria Allison Elisabeth Mayfield Hanover, and she is old as fuck. Born in 1851 levels of old. However she is still looking romance novel levels of “oh im not that great but the boys still drool because lol self-esteem issues” because she, surprise, surprise, is both a Feneric and a witch. Now of course you can’t be immortal, attractive, and magic without some bullshit to rain on your parade, so dear Victoria (or as her current driver’s license says “Allison Ferdinan”) is also a rogue on the run after being held captive by the Inquisition and kept in a cage until they needed her to kill someone. Also, because protagonists need to be special™ she is also the Keeper of the Seasons, which is fancy talk for “I am a wolf who sometimes goes nuts and kills people who try to fuck with nature.”

Needless to say, she doesn’t like to draw attention to herself. Which is why she became one of the most powerful CEOs in the U.S. of a corporation called Marrodin Enterprises and then created the fake persona, Allison Ferdinan, who works as an accountant and travels around the country to stop herself from going stir crazy. Because becoming rich and powerful is the first step to making sure no one knows or cares about who you are. As you do.

And thus we begin with Allison (Victoria) standing in NYC’s Central Park having a chat with her client and acquaintance, Markus Dupree. You see, its Halloween and Mark needs to find a woman who (despite his handsome face and oodles of money) is willing (lol) to pretend to be his lover at a gala for the rich and powerful to impress his mother. Allison (Victoria) of course says “absolutely no-” “Pretty please I’ll owe you a favor and we’re friends and I already got us a room at the Plaza and-its-definitely-not-the-Honeymoon-suite-and-I-definitely-don’t-love-you-woudn’t-that-be-wierd-right hahahaa.” To which she says “yeah I guess.”

So after going to a jewelry store dressed like a hobo, being accused of credit card theft when she tried to buy a multi-million-dollar necklace, and scaring the shit out of the store manager because when he called the credit card company, her assistant and friend Samantha shows up to slap the manager with a stack of Benjamins. Also she bought the necklace. Allison and Samantha have a nice chat about how buying a necklace that costs more than some small country’s GDP when she’s supposed to be a middle-class accountant may have been a tactical error, to which Allison replies “fuck that I need a purse to match my dress” and they go buy a purse before taking her to the party.

Now at the party we learn a few important things, one: Mark’s mom is a witch and also a huge bitch, two: Mark’s mom works for the Inquisition and straight up kills a woman named Caroline at the party and disguises it as a Halloween murder mystery, three: the Inquisition used a Feneric as a party favor for the rich guests, and four: Allison is allergic to canines, including Feneric… and herself… yeah. All of these serve to tilt the shit out of Allison and after Mark’s mom straight up calls her a slut after Mark’s money she bolts out of there and kidnaps Samantha for a “time to disappear” roadtrip.

They drive to some woods and Allison shifts for the first time in about two decades (a really big no-no when you risk going insane by trying to not shift for one full moon) and as she forgets her humanity and runs off into the woods she kills a bunch of witches who were trying to turn Autumn into Winter early. Then after a brief encounter with an odd wolf, Samantha says Allison’s true name (Victoria Allison Elisabeth Mayfield Hanover) and gets her to change back before going on the road again.

On the road they get a call from Samantha’s boss, who says that Allison was spotted with a giant dog in front of a lawyer’s house and mauled him to death. So the “time to disappear” trip became a “time to fake our own deaths” trip and after paying a guy Allison new from when she and Samantha went on a wild bender in Saigon during the Vietnam war, Allison gets two bullets to the chest (only for the camera of course) and they blow up Samantha’s car. It’s then that Samantha takes off her soccermom illusion and reveals that she’s in her seventies. WOW! So surprising after the whole, 150+ year old wolf-witch thing right? So they drive down to Atlanta and do a big song and dance to swap Allison’s identity to that of Victoria Hanover, CEO of Marrodin Enterprises – a company so strictly controlled by her that only people who pass a harsh evaluation and can be called good people will ever be hired or promoted. She also hires Samantha (now old) to be her new secretary.

At Marrodin we meet a few important people, Elliot Anderson (CEO of a subcorporation of Marrodin and overall cool dude) and Amelia (Head of the legal divisions and former judge). So we then find out that the lawyer people thought Allison killed worked for a Marrodin law firm, and that a bunch of employees around Marrodin are getting routinely and professionally iced. So Victoria does what she does best, run out on her own and adopt some kids left behind by one of the dead employees. Then Samantha dies, and Victoria just about loses her shit. After “convincing” a doctor to do a full toxicology report on Samantha’s body, we find out that Samantha had a weird virus in her system that looked similar to ebola -er- sorry- *ehem* looked similar to ebola, and *gasp* say it ain’t so but it’s the plague! A disease that killed an assload of Feneric when Victoria was young! So Victoria calls up the guy who fake shot her and says “yo someone murdered my witch” to which he said “I know a guy, also if you dance naked on their graves when you’re done I want pictures.”

So Victoria buys a house, drives -by herself- to pick up the kids she adopted, and picks up a British hitman guy named James who decides to chill with her. Also the kids turn out to be Feneric. And they’re both omegas. And the boy (they are a brother and sister between 3 and 7y.o.) is a true born. Also it turns out that Victoria Allison Elisabeth Mayfield Hanover is actually a true born Feneric and part of the British royal family and was sold as a breeding bitch to a Feneric pack in Canada. That’s a thing. Also there is a huge bounty to capture her, because she’s ancient and magic and royal and shit.

Then Victoria becomes a cool mom and take the kids to a funeral for one of the employees in Washington D.C. and then someone lobs a bunch of grenades into the crowd and Victoria goes into a coma, and is brought to the Mayo clinic in Minnesota (land of lakes represent) where she wakes up two weeks later. After going back to Atlanta, Victoria realizes that all the dead employees are Feneric, so she looks up their bank statements and realizes that they all bought stuff at a gas station in Alabama around the time of the full moon. So she decides they were a pack and brings Elliot Anderson (remember him?) and the two kids out to the place.

We then find out that some dumb motherfucker has been going around randomly forcing people into becoming Feneric and then abandoning them without any guidance. She then decides to admit to Anderson what she is (only the wolf part though) and then they go and wolf out in the woods. Cuz werewolves. Victoria then circles back and finds SURPRISE it’s Anderson, James, Mark, and Mark’s mom having a chat in the open about killing rogue wolves. SWEEEEEERVE! 

So Victoria, now real shook, jumps out of the bushes and rips Mark’s mom’s throat out. Lovely. Everyone takes this really well, and they bring her to the Inquisition’s nearby base, and get her tested for the plague, cuz she’s ancient and shit. It’s pretty clear too since modern Feneric look like modern wolves kinda but she looks like the way extinct dire wolf species. Also the boss of the place is a Feneric named Devonshire who SURPRISE is the one who keeps forcing people into becoming Feneric because he wants an alpha or some shit. The book really just nosedives from here so I’ll try to condense it further.

They lock Victoria in a room and force her to turn human again, but she actually decided “fuck all of you” and summoned a hurricane and a blizzard to simultaneously strike the Inquisition base and she starts getting hypothermia. She is then awakened by James and Mark who have very different reactions to the revelation of what she is; mainly Mark goes “I-THOUGHT-YOU-WERE-DEAD-I-LOVE-YOU” and James the Brit goes “OMGOMGOMGOMG YOU’RE THE SHIMMER! THE ROYAL WOLF! I. AM. A. HUUUUUGE FAN!” And so she says “yeah ok bye” and commands the snowstorm to toss them out of the base. Then Devonshire and Anderson burst in and Devonshire goes “shoot her” and Anderson shoots her – really shoots her this time. Then Amelia (remember her?) busts in, shoots Anderson, and grabs Victoria. Then the two of them get captured by an Arab woman and some mercs who are like “sick, kill the witch and sell the bitch, lady wolves are big business.” But when the Arab woman gets antsy about the silver chains poisoning Victoria, the other mercs kill her and then Amelia goes “take the chains off bro she’s the Shimmer bro” (also Shimmer is a name for the Keeper of the Seasons i.e. Victoria) and the mercs are like “sweet” and then Amelia says “close your eyes Victoria” and she does and then the mercs are dead and then SURPRISE BITCH it was all an illusion and Amelia is evil and the whole thing where Anderson shot Victoria was a lie and also Anderson and James show up and so does Mark and they shoot Amelia and it turns out that EVERYTHING that happened in the book was Amelia’s plan to take over Marrodin and kill Victoria because Samantha was her coven sister and Victoria corrupted her or some shit. So everyone decides to act like all of this never happened, except that Anderson and Victoria might be swiggity swooty going for each others’ booty on the down low and Victoria promised Mark that if he still wanted to marry her in ten years she would consider it and James got nothing because he is a limey bitch. Also Anderson is the Shadow Pope.
