It was supposed to be a good night, at least a normal one. Thatâs what you thought as you were sitting up in the box seats with your hair curled as you smiled wide in Quinnâs jersey. Ellen and Jim were tucked away in New Jersey to see Jack and Luke, so you took it upon yourself to go see Quinn play. It was an away game in Anaheim, and you just happen to have a small home in Los Angeles, so you thought it would be the perfect time to go to a game. You and Quinn had planned this about a month out, realizing the game fell during a week where you had absolutely nothing going on. It was rare to have these moments considering youâre constantly working on new projects, but you were more than happy to spend that time with Quinn. You were cozied up in between Bella Boeser and Natalie Miller, watching as Natalie tried to tame her small children. One of her daughters, Scarlett, sat in front of you staring as you spoke with Bella about the latest fashion trends.
âDo you really have super powers?â Scarlett cut off your conversation, referring to your role in the marvel films.
âMan, I wish! I just play pretend for the movies.â You shifted your focus to the small blonde girl who was sitting in front of you. In her eyes you could see the infatuation she had for you. You let your attention slip away from the game as this little girl asked you question after question. No doubt you had serious baby fever. It was hard not to when Natalie and J.T somehow made the most well behaved children on the planet.
âWho's your favorite player on the team?â
âOoh probably Quinn Hughes because heâs one of my best friends, but your dad is pretty cool too.â
âUm, did you know that um Mr. Quinn has um two other brothers that play hockey too?â her Tâs coming out as Dâs.
âYes I did! Iâm also very good friends with Jack and Luke.â
âDo you like the brothers teams better or daddyâs team with um Mr. Quinn?â
âThat's tough. I canât pick or theyâll all get mad at me, but tonight I'm a Canucks fan.â
You didnât know at the time, but while you were in deep conversation with Scarlett, the stadium's camera panned to you. This was always bound to happen whenever you went to one of the boyâs games, considering you were an A list actress with an impressive catalog. Quinn, who had just gotten off the ice, shifted his attention to the screen above him and he couldnât help but smile at the sight of you being so gentle with the little girl. He was so hopelessly in love with you and everyone knew it, except for you. Watching you being so good to the small child made his mind create the scenario of you being the mother of his own children. Itâs all heâs ever wanted, but the dynamic between the two of you always made him hesitant. Worried that it might create tension between himself and his brothers. Unfortunately for him, the tv camera quickly shifted to the smile he wore while watching you. The media was constantly trying to conjure up stories about the two of you. That you were secretly dating, hookup buddies, engaged, pregnant, but the sad truth is that the two of you had always just been friends. You and Quinn werenât the type of people to talk about each other to the media, so you always left it up to the people to keep guessing. All they knew was that the two of you grew up together, and the rest was up to their imagination.Â
âHey! Thatâs my kid!â J.T yelled, pulling Quinn from his trance. âAnd my wife!â He waved up at the screen. âWait, why are they showing my family?â Quinnâs attention was still on the screen, focused on the woman who was now cut slightly out of frame as Scarlett climbed into Natalieâs lap.
âLook whoâs next to em.â Quinn pointed to the screen causing the realization to hit J.T.
âOh! Itâs little miss Movie Star.â He nudged Quinnâs shoulder âHuggy bearâs bunny.â
âSheâs not my bunny. Sheâs just a good friend.â Just. The word stung as it came out of his mouth. He didnât want to be just a good friend, he wanted to be your person.
The game continued as normal now five minutes into the second period. You sipped on a terrible IPA that Bella grabbed for you, as you attempted to fix the beanie on top of your curled hair. You werenât too nervous about tonight considering the Canucks were on a winning streak and were already leading 3-0 with Quinn scoring one goal. The feel of the night made you wish you could do this all the time. You wished to be wearing Quinnâs jersey in a way that said âHe is mine. I love him and I claim myself as his.â instead of in a âIâm a famous actress who just wanted to go to a hockey game and I didnât have anything to wear so I wore your jersey because we're friends.â way. You watched as the small children focused on the ice from the barrier in awe, casually throwing out a âMommy, look at how fast daddy skated!â You wanted little hockey stars and movie stars to watch Quinn skate on the ice every night. You let your mind drag you to a world where you became a Canucks WAG, had your own last name on the back of your jersey, sitting back as your children cheered on their dad from the box. They would probably have the signature Hughes chestnut colored hair and striking smile. You wondered if they would want to be a hockey player like their dad, or an actress like their mom. You were kidding yourself knowing damn well that Quinn would have those kids on the ice before they could even walk. You let yourself get wrapped in the imagery of white picket fences and family dinners with Quinn, you almost missed the moment that shifted your entire night.Â
You heard a loud bang and several âOoohâs from the box, and looked down to see Quinn kneeling on the ice. He was in the neutral zone with the puck when one of the Ducks slammed their body directly into him causing him to fly over another player's back, landing legs first onto the ice. You immediately sprung from your seat, hand covering your mouth, as you made your way toward the barrier. You placed your free hand on the rail, leaning as far out as possible. Your heart began to race and your eyes filled with tears of shock as you watched the scene before you. As he tried to get up, Quinnâs face shifted from disgruntled to agonized in an instant. You felt a lump in your throat watching as he couldnât manage to lift himself from the ground. Youâd never seen him so hurt. His face tightened as he kept trying to pull himself up. You wished you were closer so you could scream at him to stop, but he was never one to throw in the towel. He was clearly trying to convince himself that he could get up and keep playing, but his body was failing. A mix of terror and sadness creeped through your entire body as the trainers pulled him from the ice. You stayed silent watching him disappear to the locker room, each breath shakier than the last. The media was going to have a field day with the shot of tears in your eyes watching him leave, but you werenât thinking about that at this moment. Natalie walked over to you, placing a hand on your back to try and reassure you that he would be okay, as she guided you back to your seat. You couldnât speak and frankly you didnât want to. You didnât even know what to say because everything you wanted to pour out was suggestive to the fact that you were really in love with him.Â
The game was now 7 minutes into the third period, and Quinn has yet to emerge from the locker room. At this point, you assumed he wasnât coming out at all. You sat back in your seat still staying silent as you anxiously watched the game in front of you. Your mind kept drifting to the sight of Quinn broken down on the ice like that. He was in so much pain and your fears heightened as you glanced back to the memory of him not being able to lift himself from the ground. You couldnât just sit there waiting for an answer any longer, so you decided to pull out your phone in the hopes that maybe Quinn had his in hand. Your fingers shaking as you carefully typed out a message.
You: hey i dont know if you have your phone or not but im just really worried. are you okay? please please please tell me itâs not something serious?
quinny <3: Miss me on the ice? Bet the game is boring without me.
You: OMG YOURE ALIVE whats wrong? is it bad??
quinny <3: Luckily, I didnât break anything. I sprained my knee. I'll be out for 2-4 weeks. The pain isnât too terrible at the moment thanks to the meds they gave me.
You: meds?
quinny <3: Advil. Meet me outside the locker room after the game.Â
â----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Canucks won 5-2 without Quinn on the ice. Now, you stood outside the locker room with Bella and Natalie, waiting anxiously for him to walk out. Brock came out first, giving you reassurances that Quinn would be alright before walking out with Bella, hand in hand. J.T arrived next, swooping his two daughters off the ground after greeting his wife with a victory kiss. He teased you about the way Quinn smiled at you when you were on the screen. Natalie sent him a slap to his chest and the family made their way out. It was only you left standing. All the other players had exited along with their families. You tapped your foot on the carpet below you, pulling your phone out to the time every couple seconds. Finally, your gaze caught Quinnâs as he walked out of the doors with crutches at his side and a brace on his knee. His eyes soften at the sight of you.
âHey, Quinny.â Your tender voice trembling out at the sight of his injured knee.
âHey Y/n/nâ He says before placing his crutches against the wall to bring you into a tight embrace. You stuffed your face into the crook of his neck, getting a whiff of his designer cologne. His grip on your waist tightened at the comfortability of your touch. You moved your head to rest on the soft fabric of his hoodie as you gave him one final squeeze. As you pulled back, hands resting on his arms, you caught a slight smirk on his face.
âNice jersey. That mine or yours?â
âMightâve maybe stolen it last time I was at your place.â Your smile widened as he let out a soft chuckle.
âWas wondering where that went.â He grabbed the crutches from off the wall, leaving your touch. You stared at him and grew a frown at the thought of him being in pain. When he was settled you grabbed his hand, subtly rubbing against his fingers.
âI was so scared, Quinn.â You gave him an empathy filled half smile.
âYeah, I know.â His eyebrows raised as he reached towards his back pocket to grab his phone. He quickly handed it to you so you could see the photo of you in the box with the caption âY/n L/n in tears after Quinn Hughesâ injuryâ Your mouth gaped open as you underestimated how quick they would be âThatâs the official NHL instagram account, by the way.â He laughed as you stared down at the phone. He quickly snatched the phone from your grip when he caught you looking through the comment section. âNope. Not doing that.â
âHey I was still looking.â You protested, crossing your arms.
âNo, because when you read the comments you get all sad, and then you cry, and then I have to comfort you.â
âYou donât like comforting me?â You tilted your head to the side with a fake frown.
âThatâs not what I meant. I would just much rather hang out with the happy version of you.â He gave you a soft smile as he squeezed your hand. âI donât mean to be pushy, but I was promised a bed tonight.â
âAlright thenâ You laughed and turned your body towards the exit âOnward we go captain!â Quinnâs hand left yours as the two of you exited the arena
â----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arriving at your small, cozy home in LA you quickly raced to the door to hold it open for Quinn. Faint noises from the city rang through your ears as he slowly pulled himself towards the door in silence. You couldnât help but frown at the state he was currently in. You shut the door behind him, taking in the scent of your fresh linen candle. You walked over to the back porch to crack it lightly, allowing the fresh California air to fill the small home. You turned around to find Quinn making his way to the kitchen.
âNo no no.â You quickly walked to him and grabbed his shoulders to lead him to the couch. âYou need to rest.â
âY/n Iâm fine, seriously.â He protested as you pushed him closer to the cushions. He took his spot sitting on the couch, placing the crutches on the ground as you stared at him on your feet.
âLet me take care of you, please.â His gaze shifted towards the back porch. âDo you want food?â Your hands on your hips as you gave him a stern look. He sighed as his eyes softened, looking back at you accepting defeat.Â
âWhat do you have?â He shifted his position to where he was laying on his side to face you, kicking off his shoes.
âFrozen pizza?â You asked quietly, brushing his hair back with your fingers. He leaned into your touch, nudging his head closer to your hand.
âSounds good to me.â He gave you a soft smile, watching as you removed your hand from his hair walking towards the kitchen. He picked the remote from off the coffee table, his gaze still centered on you, as you reached for the pizza in the fridge. He laughed quietly to himself watching you prepare him food in his jersey. He wanted this to be every night for him, coming home to see your face after a bad game. He admired the way your highlighter beamed off your cheekbones from the soft glow of the sink light. You began preheating the oven while he turned his focus to the tv in front of him. Quickly turning on The Office, knowing youâd seen it a million times, so you would be okay with having conversations with him during the show. You made your way back to the couch, stopping at your tracks in front of him, giving him a good stare while the TV played softly in the background.
âCan I help you?â He laughed watching you stand directly in front of him.
âDo you have a shirt I can wear?â You asked, squinting your eyes at him.
âThis is your house. I know you have your own shirt.â He smiled looking up at you.
âNot any comfy ones! All my good clothes are in New York. You know I'm never here.â You huffed out crossing your arms. Quinn let his head hang in defeat, pointing at the bag towards the door. He moved his head to prop on the arm of the couch to watch you walk to his bag. He stared with a soft smile as you unzipped the bag, finding his white tee with a blue Canucks logo in the top corner. It was one of his favorites and he knew he wasnât getting back. He admired your figure as you brought the shirt to your chest to see how it would fit you. What he didnât expect you to do, was rip off your jersey right there at the entryway. The sight of you in only a bra and leggings made his heart drop and his face pink. He quickly turned his attention back to the TV, propping his head up with his hand. He glanced at you in his peripheral vision, trying his hardest not to look. Were you doing this on purpose? He didnât know, but if you were, it was killing him. He glanced as you pulled the shirt over your head, pulling your leggings off to leave yourself in only your underwear. You decided that since the shirt cut just above your knees, there was no need to put in a pair of shorts. You left your clothes on the floor and made your way back to the couch where Quinn was sitting. His face flushed as he stared at the screen in front of him. You took your spot on the other end of the couch, lying down and letting your legs tangle in his. Your eyes were locked on the TV, but Quinn was only watching you. Admiring the way you looked, the way his heart dropped every time you shuffled your legs, and thinking back on the sight of you half naked in front of him. The two of you stayed in this spot for a while, with you getting up to put the pizza in the oven, and then again to get it out. As you walked back to him with two plates in hand, his mind was only on the fact that you had no pants on under his T-shirt so casually in front of him.Â
âThanks, Movie Star.â He grinned wide as you handed him the plate. The two of you sat up, close to each other but not touching, as you ate. âSeriously, I mean. For taking care of me.â He nudged your shoulder, as you leaned into his touch letting your head fall to his bicep.
âAnything for you, Quinny.â He laughed at your comment as you took another bite of your pizza. The two of you sat in silence, finishing every last bite of your pizza. Well, you ate it up to the crust and Quinn stole the leftovers from off your plate. When you both finished, you brought both plates to the kitchen to set them down in the sink. Quinn shifted his position back to lying down as you returned empty handed. So very naturally, you made your way back to the living room, lying down in between him and the back of the couch. You rested your head on his chest and wrapped your arms around his torso. He maneuvered himself so he was able to place his arm around your back. You and Quinn had been in this position before, it was normal for you to cuddle up with each other when you watched TV. Tonight however, things felt different. Like there was a new found spark between the two of you. Quinn felt his nerves tense up in a way they had never before as you played with the bottom of his hoodie, your fingers slightly brushing against his bare skin. You could feel his heart beating against your ear which was always bound to make your body relax against him. You shifted the attention of your fingers from his hoodie down to his knee. Your touch grazed over the brace, a feeling of pity washed over you.
âDoes it hurt?â You asked quietly, your eyes never leaving his knee.
âNo. Itâs not too bad. Iâve dealt with worse.â He let out a soft chuckle. âWhatâs gonna get me is the fact that I canât play, but iâd like to distract myself from that right now.â He took your hand in his, moving from the brace back up to his side. Your thumb rubbed the soft fabric of his hoodie back and forth as you took in the scent of his laundry detergent. His hand lightly tracing up and down your back while the two of you watched the TV. You melted into his touch, having to fight the urge to keep your eyes open as he tickled your back in such a comfortable way. You moved yourself slightly, to where you were now lying on his shoulder. Your head was tucked into the crook of his neck, his beard subtly scratching your forehead as he tightened his hold on you, bringing you closer to his body.Â
âI love you, Quinn.â you murmured softly.
âI love you too.â He nuzzled his head in closer to yours. It made you sad, but it shouldnât. He loves you, but he doesnât love you in the way that you want him to. You carefully played with the strings of his hoodie as he absentmindedly leaned into your touch further. The two of you let the show play, not saying a word to each other. Just appreciating the peaceful moment. It caused Quinn to realize that he couldnât play pretend anymore. He couldnât keep acting like there was nothing between the two of you, because there most definitely was. He knew he wanted to marry you, have children with you, see your beautiful face at every Canucks game, and have every night be exactly like this. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with you, and he wanted the rest of his life to start now.
âAre you asleep?â He asked quietly, part of him hoping you were.
âAlmost.â You nuzzled deeper into his neck
âWell, wake up. I got some things I want to tell you.â His voice was shaky, knowing that he was about to indulge in his childhood fantasies, or ruin a 15 year long friendship. You shifted yourself up looking down at him. Your hands on either side of his body.
âWhatâs on your mind Quinnifer?â You asked innocently, blissfully unaware of what was about to come. Quinn let out a long sigh, throwing his head back before looking back at you. Seeing you in this light, in his t-shirt, you looked more beautiful than any other woman heâs ever seen. He thought for a moment about saying nevermind, but he was already locked in to his plan at this point.
âDo you remember that time we both went to that gala in New York two years ago?â
âMhm.â You nodded your head, still not understanding the situation.
âWe went separately. Each of us dateless.â you laughed, making his face blush at the sound. âI walked into the room which was so crowded. Mostly with women, and Brock was teasing me asking which one I was gonna bring home that night.â He took your hand in his as you crinkled your nose. âBut my eyes were only searching for you in the sea full of people, and when I finally found you standing by the bar in your silky navy blue dress, I thought none of these women compare.â Your face quickly turned red, your heart beating fast as you realized what he was getting at. âYou were the most beautiful woman in the entire room. I stared at you for as long as I could before you caught me and ran over. You basically leapt into my arms and saidâŚâ
âAre you here with a date? Cool. Me neither. Youâre my date now.â You finished his sentence, letting out a small nervous laugh.
âLet me finish!â He scolded with a smile. âWhen you placed your hand in the crook of my arm, that was the moment I knew I was in love with you.â Your face grew a shocked expression. Butterflies swarmed throughout your stomach, not expecting him to be this direct. You also had no idea that he felt this way, and it was the most blissful surprise youâve ever received.
âQuinn, I-â you started but he quickly cut you off.
âY/n, I wanna be your person.â A small smile grew across your face. âI donât want to be âbest friend Quinnâ anymore. I wanna be âboyfriend Quinnâ. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I'm sorry if this is weird o-or if it makes you uncomfortable, but itâs the truth.â You cupped his face, hinting at his nervousness. âI just love you so much, and I canât keep pretending I donât. It actually pains me to walk around telling people that I'm just your friend.â You bit your lip, smile growing wider. âOh and by the way, you're an asshole for taking your shirt off in front of me like that.â Your mouth gaped open and you started laughing. âDo you know how hard it was not to look?â His voice grew from anxious to relieved at your reaction to his speech. You moved in closer, now with each of your legs on either side of his body.
âDoes it make me evil if I told you I did it on purpose?â You scrunch your nose.Â
âYes!â He laughed making you laugh along with him. You nervously began playing with the strings of his hoodie, his hands moving to your waist.
âQuinn, Iâve waited for you to say those words since the day you taught me how to drive the boat in eighth grade.â His smile grew wide in relief pulling you in closer. Your faces now only inches apart. âCan I kiss you now?â
âPlease.â He said eagerly as you closed the space between the two of you. Melting into his lips immediately, the kiss was one that had clearly been held back for far too long. His hands squeezed your waist while yours ran up through his soft hair. You parted your lips slightly, allowing his tongue to enter your mouth. You let out a soft moan at the feel of his hands moving down to your ass, a touch that youâve wanted for so long, but could never express. You both pulled back, resting your foreheads against each other. The sound of the TV drowned out by the heavy breathing from the two of you. Quinn managed to steal one last peck from you, moving one of his hands up to cup your face.
âI love you so much, Quinn.â
âI love you, Y/n.â

you want to kiss me so bad! - fushiguro megumi
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2231e6309674c0294daa9641e4b91f37/91c825420bb0702c-97/s540x810/065fedc5474acc8cd0fafd554474a17259ee1f4f.jpg)
word count: 3k warnings: none :) summary: "ooh you just want to kiss me" "and what about it?" more info: aged up characters! everyone works as sorcerers for jujutsu tech, friends to lovers, yuji nobara and reader are besties with a gossip groupchat a/n: thank u stef for this idea, it was so much fun to write !!! (obvi i got carried away... classic me) but this one is ofc dedicated to u @delzinrowe here's the original brainrot ___
Normally, (y/n) and Megumi made a strong pair on assignments. Having worked and trained together since high school and having known each other a bit longer than that, they shared a deep understanding on how the other fights, and normally this gave them a hefty advantage. Having two capable sorcerers that could read each other like the backs of their hands was a threat to any curse. Normally.
Or in other words, as long as one of them didnât completely abandon their plan and start improvising halfway through a fight, they were the perfect pair.
If he gave her some benefit of the doubt, Megumi could admit that (y/n) disregarding her weapon and opting to use the sheer power behind her cursed technique actually meant exorcizing the curse quicker than planned. Â
However, now sheâs staggering on her feet, her blade retrieved and dangling loosely in her weak grip as she slowly makes her way over to him, grimacing at the heap of dead curse she had to sidle past. Thereâs a lazy but proud grin that takes over her features as she assesses the damage, realizing her workload for filing this one would be far less than previously expected, seeing how quickly sheâd handled it.
âWhat the hell were you thinking?â Megumi scolds her as soon as sheâs in close enough proximity to hear him. Â
Heâs pissed. His arms are crossed, his face is twisted into a scowl, and when he pauses after his question (y/n) thinks he might actually be looking for an answer.
âPretty quickly, Iâd sayâ She scoffs back at him, not taking his irritation seriously for a second.
Sheâd say Megumi was a friend of hers, given how long theyâd known each other, but she couldnât say he ever eased up around her. He seemed to always be wound so tight that he didnât even relax when they werenât exorcizing curses. Over time sheâd grown used to his reserved demeanor, and she didnât mind it, so long as they were still the perfect duo on assignments, she could put up with anything.
Except his attitude. It rarely made an appearance when she was around- not nearly as much when he was paired up with Yuji- but on the off chance that Megumi got cranky, as she called it, it never rubbed her the right way, and it never went over well.
And currently, Megumiâs attitude and irritation knew no bounds.
âThat was reckless and risky and you know it,â He chastised, only bristling further when (y/n) rolled her eyes back at him. âYou need to take this more seriously, you canât just go dropping your weapon in the middle of-âÂ
âIt was fine, wasnât it?â She huffed out, already bored of the conversation. âItâs done, weâre not scuffed up all that bad, and honestly, you should be thanking meâÂ
âThanking you?â Megumi seethes the words back at her, and the way the corner of his snarl twitches does not go unnoticed by her.
âMhm, youâre welcome,â She muses back at him, knowing that her little smirk was going to absolutely set him over the edge. âIâve pretty much scored us a half day-âÂ
âYou pretty much just ignored me completely and couldâve gotten us both hurtâŚâ He trails off, his features softening from their contorted angry expression for just a moment as something else washes over him. Something that makes his face pale and his lips curl into such a deep set frown (y/n) thinks it could form permanent wrinkles if he held it any longer. â... or worseâ He finishes, a bit quieter than before.
âBut we didnât,â (y/n) shrugs back at him, and his annoyance creeps right back into itâs home under his skin. Â
Why couldnât she take anything seriously, ever?Â
âWeâre fine, itâs done, and weâre heading home. Why are you holding onto this?âÂ
He gapes back at her, pausing long enough to give her a chance to take back her idiotic statement and actually take some responsibility for her actions, but she doesnât. All she does is look back at him with something akin to disinterest in her eyes. It makes his nostrils flare.
âYouâre ridiculous,â He huffs, eyes screwing shut with his annoyance. âSeriously, (y/n), one day your lack of critical thinking skills is going to put me in an early graveâÂ
âEarly? But youâre such an old man already,â She teases back, knowing full well she was poking a sleeping bear. âCâmon, Iâll treat you to lunch on the way back, better?âÂ
âYou canât be serious for even a second can you?â
âWhy would I?âÂ
âOh, I donât know, self preservation?â He snaps back at her, stepping closer so she could get a proper look at the glare in his eyes.
âMy job is self preservation,â (y/n) rolls her eyes again with the dismissive comment. âMaybe if you loosened up once in a while you wouldnât be so cranky all the timeâÂ
âSo Iâm cranky for wanting us to make it out of an assignment with our heads?âÂ
âLooks to me like we still get âemâ She shrugs.
âThatâs it. Iâm not taking another assignment with you until you understand why acting on reckless abandon is stupid and going to get you killed one day,â He spits back at her, and for a second, her brows raise, and she actually looks shocked by his words. âDoes that make me the bad guy, (y/n)?â Megumi hoped he was finally getting through to her, he was so close to her now that when his eyes bore into hers she could hardly see anything but angry blue oceans crashing behind them.
With another roll of her eyes and a short giggle right in her face she scrunches up her nose and gives him the greatest, wittiest line she could come up with to diffuse the rising tension.
âOoh, âgumi you just want to kiss meâÂ
What she doesnât expect is that with all of his anger and frustration brewing, Megumi had been pushed past a brink sheâd never seen him reach before. Â
âAnd what about it?â He snaps, brows furrowed with his anger, mouth still pulled into a frown. (y/nâs) eyes widen at the response
So in a moment of pure vexation and poor decision making skills, Megumiâs shifting gears and muttering, âFuck itâÂ
Next thing she knows his hands have seized her cheeks and theyâre soft and warm but so firm as he yanks her forward while dipping his head to her height. Is he going to kiss me? Is the first stupid thought that runs through her muddled mind before his lips are slamming against hers.
Her eyes are as wide as saucers before she truly registers how soft and warm and pleasant his lips feel against hers, and she finds herself giving into the whirlwind moment sooner than expected. Her lashes flutter before falling shut, and it seems that sheâs just as soon floating ten feet in the air, lifted by an invisible force. One foot pops into the air, the other extending on to the tips of her toes to better reach him, sending her hands against his chest.
He rendered her breathless in the matter of instant, which she blamed on both the surprise and the passion behind his kiss. She can vaguely make out the feeling of his hands moving from her jaw into her hair, but just as his fingertips graze the nape of her neck and she hums in delight.
That little noise was her downfall, because as soon as the sweet sound hits Megumiâs ears, heâs pulled out of his reverie and instantly pulls away from the kiss.
(y/n) has to gasp for air once theyâre parted, but it takes her a minute to gather her senses and open her eyes.
Megumiâs frozen, his hands still cupped around the back of her head, his lips parted but no words or air was coming out. All he can do is stare at her with the shock of what heâd done sinking in.
No words are exchanged.
She stares at him expectantly, waiting for something, anything, but it doesnât come. Megumi releases her before putting as large of a step of distance between. If he wonât say anything, she knows she has to⌠but all she can do is gape as he takes another step away and quickly pulls out his phone to check on their ride back to Jujutsu Tech.
It stays silent as they wait for their car.
Even their exchange with their assigned manager is uncomfortable.
With Megumi still choosing the silent route, sheâs left no other choice.
She pulls her phone out of her pocket and rapidly begins to type.
[y/n]: S.O.S EMERGENCY !!!!!!
[yuwuji]: OMG DID U DIE ON UR MISSION D:
[y/n]: NO WORSE [y/n]: MEGUMI KISSED ME
[nocapybara]: W H A T
[yuwuji]: oh shit :D
[nocapybara]: what happened [nocapybara]: did you kiss back
[yuwuji]: was it good???
The incoming texts from her go-to groupchat for panic spamming shot up so fast sheâs barely finished reading one before another appears on her screen. At least it was serving the purpose of keeping her distracted in the tense car ride.
[y/n]: he got mad at meÂ
[yuwuji]: aww again??? :(
[y/n]: and then i said âyou wanna kiss me so badâ and he was all âso what?â abt it and then he justâŚ. fuckin kissed me

[nocapybara]: HES A COWARD !!!
[yuwuji]: did you say anything??
[y/n]: no!! what am i supposed to say??? he kissed me his first!! this is HIS FAULT!!!
[nocapybara]: damn right!!
[yuwuji]: no!! :( [yuwuji]: maybe heâs just shy and doesnât know what to say
[nocapybara]: sthu heâs an adult, he can voice is widdle feelings >:/
[y/n]: i donât think he has feelings for me. I think it was a mistake.  [y/n]: idk whatâs worse tbh
[yuwuji]: ⌠r u sure ?Â
[noapybara]: what do you know.
[yuwuji]: no nothing i just meant heâs shy and awkward
[y/n]: VERY AWKWARD YEAH I GOT THAT
[nocapybara]: yuji ur his best friend. u definitely know something. spill. does he have the hots for (y/n/n) or not
[yuwuji]: hey i donât spill secrets!!!!
[nocapybara]: SO THERE ARE SECRETS TO SPILL THEN????
With every new message, (y/n) felt her heart pounding in her chest a little harder. She hoped the radio was loud enough to drown out the sound of it. They were still a couple of minutes away from Jujutsu Tech, and she needed a solution by the time they got there. She had a feeling that if she didnât come up with a plan and fast, then Megumi would continue to ignore her, and it would never be brought up again.
[yuwuji]: well⌠i guess itâs not a secret that he talks about her a lotâŚÂ
It was easy to mistake Megumiâs silence for disinterest- and at first, he would say that he was ignoring the entire thing. He didnât have an ounce of desire to bring it up in front of present company, but after a few minutes of riding in silence, he thought maybe ignoring it forever was his best option. It was just an accident, people caught up in the moment all the time, right? What was one little⌠perfect⌠kiss anyways?Â
Suddenly watching all the trees passing by the window made his stomach twist with nausea, and Megumi had to redirect his gaze to the back of the headrest in front of him.
It wasnât right of him to kiss her, if he really thought about it. Heâd never even confessed to her- and to just kiss her like that? Megumi could barely recognize himself. He was never so brazen, he was always the reserved, calculated one. He was the one that thought things through before making a final decision, he was never brash, never bold, and he would never make a move on someone without telling them properly how he feltâŚ
His stomach lurched again. Was he getting carsick?Â
Heâd never really considered telling (y/n) about his feelings for her before. Sure, heâd known for a while that she wasnât like the others, she was different, special, held in a different, more secluded place in his heart away from all the others. If he was being honest with himself, heâd probably felt that way since high school. The problem was Megumi was always realistic when evaluating his options, so when his feelings for her were fully realized, heâd weighed his options and decided that the potential of losing a friend and a phenomenal partner over a confession would be pathetic.
So he packed his feelings up in a box and left it in the back of his mind. And that box would just have to stay there.
The ping of his phone drew him out of his spiraling, stomachache-inducing thoughts.
[itadori]: yo u kissed (y/n)?? hell yeah!!!
It felt like his heart imploded, and all of the air in his lungs was sucked out before he could try to gasp to preserve it. His eyes nearly bore a hole through the screen of his phone before his head shot up, peeking at the front seat where (y/n) sat, typing away on her phone. He couldnât see who she was texting, but he didnât need to, because the recipient of her texts just told on himself.
Now he was sure he was going to be sick. He made a mental note to pack anti-nausea for the car rides after assignments.
When they finally got back to Jujutsu Tech, (y/n) was swift in her exit of the car and stride towards the building. She not only didnât utter a word to him, but she didnât cast him a second glance. Her eyes were glued to her phone and her walking pace was, well, she was nearly jogging away.
He could just let her walk away, accept that the both of them would mutually forget about the whole thing.
â(y/n)!â Megumi had to call after her as he broke into a light jog in order to catch up. She glanced over her shoulder, and her speed walking slowed to a normal pace as he caught up to her.
Sheâs quick to lock her phone and tuck it back into her pocket.
Megumi lets out a sigh as he gives in to instinct.
âLook, I didnât mean to do that, and Iâm sorry, alright?âÂ
She stops in her tracks then, effectively halting him too, but it doesnât seem like itâs because sheâs suddenly inclined to focus all of her attention on conversing with him.
âAre you trying to say you kissed me by accident?â She frowns.
âWell, I guess-âÂ
âBecause thatâs not a thing,â She interrupts him. âYou kissed me, consciously, and, like, for a good minute-âÂ
âBut I didnât mean to, you practically dared me!â Megumi argued, only making her scoff and let out a laugh, humored by his ridiculous argument.
âWho cares? You kissed me!â She reminds him with a tilt of her head. âAre you saying if I challenged you to jump off a bridge would you do that too?âÂ
âWell maybe the bridge isnât that tallâ Megumi refuted, before frowning and rolling his eyes at how stupid he sounded. There was no taking that one back, (y/n) was already laughing.
âJust admit it, Megumi. Some part of you wanted to kiss me, so you didâÂ
âNot until you admit that you asked me to, technicallyâÂ
âFine! I did ask you to! Happy?âÂ
âDelighted, because I wanted to!âÂ
âWell if youâve wanted to so bad then why are you yelling at me and not kissing me!?â Â
âI donât know!âÂ
With a simultaneous groan of frustration, the pair donât waste anymore time arguing before acting. She all but throws herself against him but Megumiâs just as swift at wrapping his arms around her waist to hold her off her feet and at a height that gives him easy reach to slam his lips against hers. Every once of passion heâd poured into their last kiss is revisited in full with this one too, and (y/n) starts to get the idea that every kiss is going to sweep her off her feet all the same.
With her arms wound around his neck to better keep herself secure, she hopes that he feels every bit of electricity that she does.
And he does, heâs just a bit too preoccupied trying to balance taking in oxygen and kissing her like his life depended on it to communicate that to her now. At least in words. Wandering hands filled in the gaps for now.
It took them long enough, after all, there would be time to talk about it later. ___
a/n: i imagine the groupchat lights tf up after the second one :3

âBaaaaaa Baaaaaaa.âÂ
You woke up to the sound of sheep with a smile on your face. Jumping out of bed and changing into your shortalls and pulling on your perfectly white mid-crew socks. Your tongue sticking out a bit as you pull on your cowgirl boots. You were ready to bolt out the front door when Wanda caught you, we'll her magic did, making you giggle.
âMama! Mama!â you cried out with a giggle as she carefully placed you down at the kitchen table. She turned around with your breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. You wiggled in your seat as she set the plate down, leaning over to kiss the top of your head.Â
âGood morning detka. Feeling small this morning?â She asked sweetly with a smile as you put some eggs on your fork and you nodded, shoving the food into your mouth, a little âmhmm' coming from you. Wanda simply smiled at you, the little light of her life that she found after The Westview Incident.
The moment you were done you bolted out of the house. Your great Pyrenees, Lola, getting up from her spot to follow behind you as you run to the sheep, letting them out to roam and running around with them.
.°â.°âđ
âApples, right?â Strange asked, making Wanda look up. She was pruning one of the many apple trees that were on the property the two of you had purchased with the money Tony had left everyone.
âEventually.â She handed him the small branch that was blossoming.Â
âSmellsâŚâ
âSweet?â
âI was gonna say real.â Strange said in an accusatory tone making Wanda's face fall.
âIt's all very real. Thanks. I put the magic behind me.â Wanda looked over at you, watching as you herded the sheep with Lola laying nearby, watching.Â
Strange followed her eyesight. Watching carefully. âWho's the girl?â
âY/N. I met her after I left Westview. I was looking for a remote place to settle down and she worked at the general store in the secluded town. Eventually I found myself falling in love again.â Wanda smiled, a genuine smile before turning back to Strange. âWell, I knew sooner or later you'd... show up, wanting to discuss what happened at WestView. I made mistakes, and people were hurt.â
âBut you put things right in the end and that was never in doubt. I'm not here to talk about WestView.âÂ
Before Wanda could ask why he was here you came running up, âMama! Mama!â You hadn't noticed the man at first otherwise you wouldn't have called her Mama, you knew better as you shied away, pressing your face into her.Â
Strange was befuddled by the exchange happening in front of him, but watched Wanda soothe you back down, âIt's okay little one. He's a friend. He helped me save the world. Your favorite story to hear.â She spoke softly, kissing the top of your head. Wanda looked back at Strange, âSo if Not Westview then what are you here for?â Wanda questioned as you looked up at her.Â
It was rare that she talked about Westview. When you first met she had mentioned coming from there and that things didn't go as planned. She needed a fresh start.Â
âWhat do you know of the multiverse?â The man asked as you turned slightly to look between them.
âThe multiverse. Vis had his theories. He believed it was real. And dangerous.â Wanda's voice shifted slightly, her grip on you tightening ever so slightly.Â
VisâŚa name you'd heard twice. She always left him out of the stories she told. She tried once, but started to cry. The second was in passing, you heard her ask herself, âWould you have liked this Vis?â You pretended not to hear her. Deciding it was best not to acknowledge it.
âWell, he was right about both. We found a girl who can somehow travel across it but she's being pursued.â Strange informed the two of you and you looked up at Wanda happily about possibly a new friend, but Wanda looked worried. Her grip tightens further on you. A small squeak coming out of you.Â
âMamaâŚâ You spoke softly, tugging on her shirt. She looked down at you trying to hide the swirling emotions in her eyes. You saw it though and you didn't mean to, but it brought you right back to a big headspace. âLove what's wrong? What is it?â Your hands cup her cheeks and she practically melts at your touch. It grounds her back down.Â
âI'm fine.â Her voice betrays her with a slight crack as she looks back at Strange.Â
âYou can bring her here. She'll be safe and Y/N can keep her company.âÂ
âAre you sure Wanda? It won't be too much trouble?â He asks as she shakes her head in response.Â
âNo trouble at all Stephen.â She plasters a smile on her face as Strange portals back to the temple.Â
âWhat's wrong?â You ask sternly. âHe's not here, it's just us Wanda. I know something isn't right.â She tries to pull away, but you hold her there.
âWhen we met I was in possession of something called the darkhold. It gave me a lot of resources, but it all came at a price. I found the price was too high once I got to know you. I knew I couldn't have both so,â her hands find yours on her face, âI gave it up so we could live our life. So I could leave my past where it belongs. But now with this I can feel that itch. The wantâno the need for it again.âÂ
A pained expression covered your features. You could tell she was struggling and so you did the only thing you knew how to do when she got like this, her thoughts swirling and drowning her in her past mistakes, you kissed her. It was soft and she barely pressed back, but you felt it.Â
âWe'll get through this. I'm here for you Wands. Didn't I already tell you when you told me who you were?â Wanda looked down at you, waiting for the reminder, needing it right now. âYou aren't a monster. What you did is in the past. We can't change that. We can only be better in the future.âÂ
She leaned her forehead against yours, a smile slowly spreading on her face. âThank you for the reminder my little love.â She spoke in a whisper as you reached a hand to tangle in her hair, scratching gently as she closed her eyes.Â
âWe're gonna make it through this. Do what we have to and keep moving forward.â You tell her as she nods against you.Â
âHow'd I get so lucky?â she whispers.
âI ask myself that question every time I look at you.â you whisper back as you hear a portal opening behind you. Getting ready to face the next chapter of your life together.

A Dance With the Dragon III â Opera
Yandere Neuvillette x Reader
[Part I] [Part II] [Part III â You are here] [Part IV]
Neuvillette enjoys bringing you to the Opera Epiclese. You, not so much. The result; a clash of tides.
Warnings: Implied past NSFW, typical yandere tendencies and obsessive behavior
You had grown to loathe the opera.
When Neuvillette first suggested it, you had perked up immediately. You ignored his rare smile at your excitement, knowing he believed to use this as a stepping stone to winning you over. You didnât care; the Chief Justice was delusional if he thought you wouldnât abuse this opportunity to escape.
Your plan, of course, was a complete failure.
Neuvillette kept a firm, guiding hand on your lower back the entire night. Even the slightest movement on your part would earn you a warning glower. He wasnât even challenging you to act out; no, he was demanding your compliance. Bastard.
And Archons, the stares you got for it.
You knew that Neuvillette had worked his way up to being a well-respected and renowned figure, but you never expected the fanbase he had acquired. He was barraged by women and men alike, all hoping for a chance to woo, interview, or befriend Fontaineâs Chief Justice. He responded to all of their inquiries with aplomb, though you noticed his grip on your waist tighten every time an individual would glance your way, whether out of curiosity or envy.
Standing off to the side, you swirled the champagne glass clasped in your hand, opting to remove yourself from the conversation. Honestly, you were shocked he had allowed you to indulge in any alcohol with his obsession over your health. Such regulations included eliminating certain foods from your diet (âWhy would anyone ever eat food thatâs been deep fried?â) and drinking an ungodly amount of water each day, usually with a long conversation about its flavors.
Oh, and the physical activity, too.
With a scowl, you tipped the flute back to imbibe the rest of the champagne. Maybe if you got drunk enough, youâd have some respite from both the spotlight and your memories with him. He already seized every moment of your reality; you didnât need him plaguing your thoughts, too.
But luck was never on your side these days.
A particularly nosy group of women had been giving you the stink eye all night, until one of them strutted up to your âdateâ. Despite being multiple paces away, you could hear their entire conversation. She curtsied, batting her long lashes flirtatiously. âGood evening, Monsieur Neuvillette. I am Trudaine, daughter of the Duke of Romaritime Harbor. Iâve been meaning to approach you for some time now, for who could resist such a handsome and powerful man?â
You rolled your eyes and kept chugging as Neuvillette beckoned you towards him. Before he could answer, you reluctantly closed the distance between the two of you, feeling his hand caress your lower back. Trudaine sneered as she looked you up and down. âI must inquire, who is the lady youâve brought as your accompaniment tonight?â
Neuvillette tipped his head politely. âGreetings, Lady Trudaine. While I appreciate your flattery, I must decline your advancements. You see, Lady (Y/n) here is my wife.â
You choked on your drink.
While Neuvillette rubbed your back in a concerned manner, believing you had simply had too much to drink, Trudaineâs lip curled in disgust. âHer, a Lady?â she barked in disbelief. âCome now, Monseiur. Sheâs clearly nothing but a commoner, and not even one from Fontaine.â
Neuvilletteâs judgmental gaze flicked down to the woman with a dangerous flash. âLady Trudaine, I suggest you take your leave before I lose my temper.â
The Judicatorâs expression must have spooked her, for she quickly shut her mouth and scurried to the safety of her friend group, no doubt to continue the gossip about you.
âMy dear, are you alright?â
You waved Neuvillette away, coughing up the last bit of alcohol. âIâm fine, Iâm fine.â You placed the empty glass on a nearby table; alcohol had been ruined for you for the rest of the night. âThough I donât recall accepting your proposal, husband.â
Neuvillette ran a gloved hand through his bangs. âAh, forgive me. Your human customs sometimes elude me. If it is a ring you seek, Iâm more than happy to oblige.â
You gaped at him. âYou seriously think Iâm upset because you didnât buy me a damn ring?â You pressed yourself against his chest, jabbing a finger into his robes. Neuvillette sucked in a breath, marveling at the proximity. You were actually touching him. He didnât care in what context; he could feel your warmth, sense your heartbeat in tandem with his own. It took every ounce of his might not to rip that dress off your form and bury himself inside you.
âLetâs get one thing straight,â you whispered so as not to draw attention, âI am not, and will never be, your wife. I do not, and will never, love you. You may think us a couple, or mates, or that what you feel for me is love, but you have seaweed for brains. You have taken everything from meâmy freedom, my career, my family, my vision. You have forced yourself on me and molded me into some hollow version of myself.â You gestured to your attire, all lace and frills to replace your preferred pants, to emphasize your point. âDelude yourself all you want with titles like âwifeâ and âdearâ and âmateâ, but they are nothing but empty monikers.â
The enamored look on the Justiceâs face only served to prove your point. Stretching his cane horizontally behind your back and cupping your chin with the other hand, he trapped you against his form. âAll in good time, my darling. Rocks may appear unbreakable, but the sea erodes them all eventually.â
~*~
Then there was the most recent time he had taken you.
Neuvilletteâs idea of a âcompromiseâ was to forgo the formalities of chit-chat for simply sitting in your (private balcony) seats until the opera began. This development saved you from the crowd, but at the cost of being alone to fend off his intimate touches. You practically snarled at him when his hand snaked up your thigh.
âTry that again in public and youâll lose that hand.â
âLater, then.â He muttered the promise as the lights dimmed.
The operaâs plot centered on an ancient monster rescuing a sacrificed maiden. Instead of devouring her, the creature took her into his care, and their love led to the creation of the Melusines. You nearly throttled Neuvillette at the climax, when the maiden denounced the humans who sent her to die in favor of becoming an immortal with the creature. The so called âmonsterâ, then, transformed into a handsome god of the sea.
As the curtains fell and the lights rose, you glimpsed his subtle smile. Standing abruptly from your seat, you moved towards the exit without sparing him another glance. âDonât even fucking start.â
~*~
This time, however, you found an opportunity to turn the tables.
This time, Neuvillette had permitted you to mingle alone within the crowd in the Operaâs foyer prior to the show. Pointless chatter with the other opera goers was preferable to being alone with him, though you really knew that Neuvillette had agreed as a test of your loyalty. Although it seemed you could roam as you pleased, you knew the Iudex kept one eye on you at all times. A note slipped into a hand or a whisper for help into an ear would be detected immediately.
While you refrained from approaching others, that didnât mean you could prevent others from approaching you.
Others like the exceptionally handsome individual striding towards you.
His azure irises soaked in your form as he ran a gloved hand through his fiery-toned hair. Once before you, he delivered a playful bow, lips pulled in a smirk. âAh, and might I ask why a lady as stunning as yourself is standing by herself?â
You lowered the champagne glass from your lips, taking in the manâs appearance. Based on the thick fur coat slung over his shoulders and the single red earring flashing on his left ear, he certainly wasnât from Fontaine, though he clearly possessed a good deal of wealth nonetheless.
Your eyes shifted towards the hydro vision on his hip. Your hand instinctively went to your neckline, where your own vision would have been. The only reason you hadnât gone mad from its absence was because it was never truly far from youâthat is to say, because Neuvillette was never far. Your heart ached, and somehow the fact that this man shared a hydro vision made you trust him. âAnd might I inquire as to whoâs asking?â
The man offered you a coy smile. âCall me Tartaglia.â
Returning the smile, you sketched a brow cheekily. âThatâs quite a unique name. You arenât from around here, are you?â
âAm I really that easy to pin?â Tartaglia chuckled, blue eyes sparking mischievously. âSeems Iâm losing my touch.â
âNot at all. If you ever need someone to get you acquainted with Fontaine, Iâd be more than happy to oblige,â you shot back with a wink, your implications clear. Of course there was no world in which Neuvillette would ever let that happen, but you missed how fun it was to flirtâor just to even talk withâsomeone who wasnât the Iudex. Youâd take your fun when you could.
Tartagliaâs grin only grew at your suggestion. He offered you the second glass of champagne he held. âI noticed you might be needing another one of these, though really I just took whatever excuse I could to talk to you. Are you really here all by yourself?â
Before you could respond, your gaze subconsciously flicked around the room until it landed on the one who had brought you here. And it was then you noticed the Chief Justice glowering at you, his knuckles turning white around the goblet in his fist. The group of officials around him, though they kept prattling on, went completely ignored as his silver glare flicked between you and the mysterious redhead.
Oh, this would be good.
As Neuvillette excused himself from the conversation, your eyes met his own and a wry grin graced your lips. Blame it on the alcohol, but you were feeling bold and invincible. Like you were the one in power for once. Maybe thatâs why, before Neuvillette could reach you, you leaned towards Tartaglia and purred, âItâs just you and me.â
Then you tilted your face up and kissed his cheek, the barest hint of your lips brushing against his porcelain skin. And yes, it was petty in every sense of the word, but you reveled in the furious spark of Neuvilletteâs lilac irises.
No more than a second later, a shadow loomed over the two of you. Neuvillette stepped between you and Tartaglia, forcing the other man to take a large step backwards. You, on the other hand, were now partially hidden by the Chief Justiceâs large frame, his left arm out to hold you behind him. His cane cracked against the floor in front of him. âWhat do you think youâre doing?â
Tartaglia quickly recovered, looking more entertained than anything. âWoah, comrade! We were just having a bit fun! No need to spoil the mood,â he laughed.
Neuvilletteâs eyes simply narrowed as he maintained his calm facade. âYou will stay away from my wife.â
The redhead tipped his head, trying to get a better look at you past the Iudex. âDidnât know I was chatting with the Chief Justiceâs lady! Any chance I could convince you to share?â He laughed again, flashing sharp teeth.
Neuvillette was far from amused. âYou should hope to never cross paths with me in court, Harbinger.â
Wait. Did he just say Harbinger?
You may have been locked away for four hundred years, but youâd still been informed of the Snezhnayan group of Delusion bearers and their influence (whether for better or for worse) across Teyvat in recent years. You barely had time to process that revelation as Neuvillette firmly clasped your wrist and dragged you outside.
Heavy rain had started to fall, battering the Court with its relentless downpour. Both you and Neuvillette were quickly soaked to the bone, and while you were shivering in your light gown, the Iudex whirled on you. âWhat exactly did you think you were doing?â
You gave a nonchalant shrug, knowing it would twist the knife even further. âWhat do you mean?â
âWith that man,â Neuvillette said, gritting his teeth. His composed, human mask was slowly slipping, and you were in the mood to provoke the dragon beneath.
âWhat, Iâm not allowed to talk to other men? You were the one who said I could mingle tonight.â
Neuvilletteâs eyes flashed dangerously. âTalking? You kissed him, (Y/n). In front of your husband.â His tone slipped into a deep growl. âYour mate.â
Anger flaring, you went in for the kill. âDespite what you keep telling yourself, we are not actually marriedââ
âSilence!â
Thunder rumbled across the court so violently you swore you felt the ground shake. You gasped as the leviathan tattoo on your arm resurfaced, illuminating your face with blue magic. The authority in his voice cascaded down your spine, soaking your entire being as if you had been submerged into the depths of the darkest ocean. But no, it wasnât just thatâthe rain had started to fall even harder, accompanied by gusts of wind that threatened to knock you to your knees. You could barely see five feet in front of you, but the visibility didnât matter, since Neuvilletteâs figure was as clear as day.
He was glowing.
The Hydro Dragonâs horns sparked with blue light, and his robes seemed to have expanded to create flowing waves on either side of his form. Tendrils of azure power snaked through the air around him, forming intricate patterns that resembled water droplets spiraling around one another. Blue seeped from the bottom of his cane and formed cracks through the ground that pulsed with raw energy, threatening to unleash the waters below. His irises burned as bright and silver as moonlight on a midnight sea.
Neuvillette might have been the most composed individual in all of Fontaine, but when his anger bubbled over, it was no mere floodâit was a tsunami.
You gaped at his appearance, the closest to his true draconic form you had seen to date. You suddenly felt like provoking him was your worst idea yet, but that wasnât what scared you the most. âDid youâŚcan you controlâŚ?â
âI am no mere water nymph or Melusine,â Neuvillette replied curly, power dripping from his body as smoothly as water. âI am the Hydro Dragon Sovereign. Water of the earth and the skies bows to me. As will you.â
You werenât sure when you had started shaking. For the first time in a long while, your anger was doused. You looked between your tattoo and his matching glow and realized just how powerless you were without your vision and within this dragonâs clutches.
Despite all his flaws, after all your years together, Neuvillette knew how to read you. He immediately stilled, a look of panic contorting his handsome features. The ethereal glow around him faded, and the rain began to subside into a dull mist.
He wrapped you in his arms, squeezing you with desperate abandon. âMy love, Iâm sorry. I donât know what came over meâplease, forgive me.â Another shiver wracked your form, which prompted him to hold you tighter and bury his nose into your hair, exhaling deeply. âI have made a grave transgression by frightening you so dearly, but I pledge to never lose my temper in such a manner again.â
Neuvillette caressed your cheek and tilted your chin up to gaze longingly into your eyes. âYou are my entire world, and I just couldnât stand the thought of losing you.â He swiftly picked you up bridal style, placing a chaste kiss on your forehead. âCome. Iâll draw you a warm bath with fresh sea salts. I believe weâre done here for tonight.â
Wordlessly, you let him take you home. You canât argue with a dragon.

A Change in Scent
Word Count: 1,489
Summary: Visiting Sylus, he notices a change in my scent. The repercussions of it leave me both happy yet scared.
Tags: Suggestive themes; but no smut, Pregnancy, slight angst.
A/N: I was gonna make this longer but I felt like if I kept writing I would go off the rails. But ever since seeing the trailer for Sylus myth, my head was spinning with HC that we are fr Luke and Kieranâs family. Doubt this is canon but this came to mind so I wrote it down. Please enjoy!
Being in Taurus and falling in love with the dragon who protected it, wasnât exactly my plan in life.
I had been exiled from my tribe for refusing to marry a man I didnât love. In order to be accepted back, I had to venture to find a rare protocore to earn my place. I stumbled upon a cave filled with endless treasure, and the dragon who guarded it took one whiff of my scent and claimed me as his own.
I had become his beloved, his wife, and everything in between as soon as he scented me. His fangs would sink into my neck and in some cosmic way; I knew that we belonged to one another.
However, I didnât understand dragons, every couple months he had me practically bound into the bed as we did nothing but cuddle and make love. He claimed it was his animalistic nature to go into heat, but to me Sylus was human despite his otherworldly appearance. His heart and love were purer than the winter snow. Every word from his lips sang my praises, and at times he would refuse to let me return back to the tribe.
But I managed to escape his protective grasp to maintain some semblance of a human life to see my grandmother. In the meantime Sylus promised to dispel any of my âsillyâ desires of a human life, and promised he was going to build me a house surrounded by our favorite flowers.
Things remained as a normal courtship between us. It wasnât till one day he noticed a change in me that I hadn't myself.
I hadnât seen him in a few days, so I had been excited to spend more time with him. When I returned to his abode deep within the mountains, he immediately buried his nose against the crook against my neck as he breathed in, he pulled away with his red eyes blown wide with surprise.
âWhat? Is something wrong? I know Iâve been busy with dealing with my Tribe I havenât had time to bathe-â I try and make up an excuse as he pulls away with a shake of his head.
âNo. No sweetness it isnât thatâŚâ he pants in my ear and then chuckles, âYour scentâŚ.Itâs different.â He pants out and starts nipping his fangs at my neck.
âLike a good difference or a bad difference ?â I say confused.
âMy love,â he laughs full of pride and joy as he pulls away from my neck to press a soft kiss against my lips, âYouâre pregnant.â
I freeze, âExcuse me?â Are the only words to leave my lips.
âYouâre with my children,â he growls as he bends his face down to continue to kiss on my neck and collar bones.
âI donât think Iâm late on my period? How do you know for sure?â I try and grasp at his silver locks to pull away and explain himself to me.
âYour scent is giving off a pheromone to me that is screaming that youâre pregnantâŚ.I cant describe it, but itâs a sickly sweet smell that makes me want to worship youâŚCarrying my BabiesâŚâ
âDonât get ahead of yourself, I donât feel any different,â she rolls her shoulders back, âI think maybe Iâm just ovulating?â
He shakes his head no, âNo I can tellâŚ.Youâre pregnant.â He chuckles darkly, âBless the gods, the mother of my childrenâŚI could only be so lucky.â
âSylusâŚâ I mentally try to deny his thoughts again and he just shushes me and places a fiery kiss to my lips.
âMine forever,â his claws rake down my small form, stopping to caress my stomach. âA living part of me to be with you always.â
I let out a shaky breath and stare up at him in fear, âWhat am IâŚ.What are we to do?â
He quirks his head at me, âIs this not good news? A cause for celebration? Do humans not enjoy the idea of bringing life with their beloveds into the world?â
I shake my head, âIt usually is, but SyâŚ.Think of the complications. Iâm a human. If my tribe finds out Iâm carrying a dragons babyâŚ.â A shiver of fear went down my spine.
âYouâre not to return,â he growls out as a command, âYour life is with me now. Under no circumstances will you even be let out of my sight while carrying my children,â his tail wraps around my middle. He isnât applying any pressure to my body with it, but the visual is enough to send a message.
âBut Sy my family-â
âWeâre going to be a family,â his eyes flash an emotion of hurt as he hisses at me, âI will protect you and our babies till the ends of the earth. This family will never cast you out. I donât want you to return to the tribe ever again. Itâs dangerous.â
I shake my head, âThey might come looking for me⌠What would they think of finding me in your treasure nest heavy with a babyâŚSylus, we canât do thisâŚâ
It was as if I had struck him, his face sinks and his red eyes glisten with tears as he walks closer and embraces me in his claws, âBelovedâŚWhat do I have to do? Do you not want this? Want me?â His deep voice cracks with hurt, his pride now wounded at my lack of joy.
I look up at him, both of our vulnerable expressions mirroring one anotherâs, my mouth opens and closes as I try and muster the words to say, âI donât know much about your kindâŚI donât know if our child will be a human, a dragon, or something in betweenâŚ.While I donât know much I do know that we are bound to one another. You are mine. I am yoursâŚâ
A silent moment passes between us as he holds me in his arms and his eyes desperately scan my face, âI want thisâŚI want youâŚ.But,â I look away, âI need to be sure that the life we have here in Taurus is safe enough for a child. And for me to even deliver oneâŚâ
Sylus closes his eyes and nods his head as he hears my words and my concerns, âI will find a way to prove and provide for you twoâŚThis isnât the first instance of a hybrid child. I will find a nest of my people and do whatever it takes to let us have thisâŚâ
I take a step back out of his arms, âUntil then I think I need to stay in the villageâŚThey wonât know for a while that Iâm with child and I should build strength there until we can start a life out hereâŚBesides I think if I have to leave my family there forever, I should at least say goodbyeâŚâ
He curls his claws around my waist and brings me closer, âDonât leave me yetâŚJustâŚ.Let me have you for a while.â
Sylus curls his head into the nape of my neck and inhales with such a shaky breath his whole body shudders, âGods your scentâŚ.Itâs driving me crazy than usualâŚâ
âAre you in heat?â I run my fingers down his back and caress the spot where his wings sprout out of his body.
âNoâŚItâs not that itâs justâŚKnowing that you smell like this because of me,â he stands up straighter and runs a claw through my hair, âIt makes me want to keep you this way. Hoard you here like my most prized treasureâŚâ
âSylus,â I whisper as I stare at his lips, âI want you.â
His tail happily swooshes at my words and he bends down to lift me up by my butt as he carries me to head out of his cave and into our spot full of flowers.
He lays me out on the field of green grass and wine colored flowers. The sun shines on my face making me feel warmer than usual with Sylusâ body heat leaning over me.
He undresses me slowly, unwrapping me both physically and mentally with his eyes. As Iâm bare before him he leans his head down to my stomach and rests his cheek against my belly and closes his eyes.
A kitten-like purr escapes him and his body vibrates with the soothing joy.
âTwins,â he smiles as he keeps nuzzling his cheek against me.
âTwins?!?â I say more alarmed. âH-How are you-â
âI can hear their heartsâŚThey love you already,â his red eyes flick open and meet mine. The tenderness in Sylusâ voice, this overwhelming news, and the truth my heart feels at his words break me and I feel tears stream down my face.
Sylus lifts himself up and curls his body over mine, to hide me away from the world, to make me weep with joy in his warmth.
âWeâll protect them my belovedâŚThe four of us,â he chuckles, âWeâre home now.â

I decided to make a HH AU cause...y'know....anyway.... now introducing
Reset Resort! A Hotelier Vox AU
- you already know, it's a hotel Vox AU.....but not quite what you're thinking. Kind of a swap between Alastor and Vox, it focuses on the butterfly effects of this single change, rather than a full reversal.
- Most things are kinda(?) the same. Except the hotel is not as run-down and quite more successful. As if S1âs hotel started with S2's reputation and building. It's also more modern/sleek and closer to your typical strip hotel. Much more busy with additional residents coming in and out. Think Vegas-style. It has way too many amenities than necessary, and it's actually an enjoyable place to hang out , but the message for "redemption" might be a bit....lost.
- Itâs supposed to be a place where Sinners can (lightly) indulge in their vices without risk of falling into a soul-binding deal on their road to recovery.
- In this AU, movement between Sinners/Winners has been proven. NOT redemption yet. With this âconcreteâ evidence, Vox considers it "purely a business investment" to sponsor the hotel.
- Because of this "proof", Heaven has granted Hell/Charlie a grace period of an extra year with no exterminations, so long as they continue to monitor the process and Hell provides further progress and evidence of redemption.
Vox is there for the start up of the hotel with Charlie. He sponsors her project with his reach and expertise. His personality is much more subdued, his TV persona taking center stage, except for rare occasions. His temper is not as bad as in-canon. AKA, heâs much more fake and corny in this AU.
Charlie is slightly more mature and realistic in this AU. She studies redemption seriously and notes behavioral patterns/is much more patient and careful with the process. With Vox being extremely efficient and taking over the managerial/facility side of the resort, she is able to dedicate her time fully towards the redemption of sinners and being a therapist. She is still overzealous sometimes because she knows that if nobody else will show enthusiasm/push sinners to do better, then nobody will.
- Vox tried to manipulate Charlie very early on when they first met, and Charlie ended up realizing his kindness was just for his own benefit and has been wary of that fact ever since.
- Their relationship is like: she knows heâs reliable and will do everything she asks, but is doubtful/sad that heâs ingenuine. Vox thinks Charlie looks at him with pity and absolutely HATES it, but he still plays carefully so he can do a repeat and build up her trust again. Doesn't like Vaggie for a similar reason. They just think he's another misguided sinner in need. Neither have fully grasped the idea that most Sinners chose to do-evil(which he certainly has).Â
- Vox holds a contract with Lucifer. What for? Well... let's say that they're on good terms and are friends. They meet with each other once a week (where Lucifer gets social interaction and updates on Charlie).Â
I already have sketches for Alastor and Vaggie planned out in this AU~
It's less of a full "reversal" and more so one swap and the butterfly effect that follows. This AU has been my brainchild for a few weeks, so PLEASEEE I'd love to answer any questions or asks....
My AU tag is #au: reset resort
All information can be found under there! Until I make a masterpost or something.
Old design under the cut:

Sorceress
legolas greenleaf x fem reader
Summary: You join the three men on the journey to fight against Saruman, and one does not trust you. Legolas is suspicious of you and your perfection, until he admits to himself those feelings were just masking his true feelings that he had quickly developed for you.

âShe is going to help us.â Aragorn says as he, Legolas and Gimli sit at a table inside the inn while they wait for your arrival. âShe is supposed to be a great sorceress. We need her.â
âWe cannot trust some old woman we do not even know. Why can we not simply go without her?â Legolas questions with furrowed brows.
The idea of a stranger joining them on their journey left him feeling extremely uneasy.
âWho told you I was an old woman?â They hear a voice behind them.
You lower your hood as the inn door closes behind you. You walk towards the men and they stand to greet you. You give a friendly smile to Aragorn whom you had just recently met and agreed to assist. Legolasâs eyes go wide in surprise as he takes you in. You appeared young and basically flawless, nearly elvish beauty but something even more rare. You had piercing purple eyes and beautiful porcelain skin. Below your cloak your long purple dress clung to your figure, Legolas had to clear his throat to force himself to stop staring.
As Aragorn goes to speak Legolas says- âForgive me, my lady.â He bows his head. âI simply cannot trust someone I do not know. And I find it rather odd that the other sorcerers I have known appeared quite old in age yet you look remarkably young.â
âWell, I do not trust you either yet. We have only just met after all⌠And I doubt you have ever met a female sorceress.â You give him a catty smile. âThe concept of eternal youth should not seem that odd to you, elf.â
âHey now.â Gimli cuts in.
âI did not mean any offence, sir.â You turn to the dwarf before turning your gaze back to Legolas. âI have a great admiration for the elves. They can be quite impressive.â
Legolas fought his lips curling into a smile as your eyes remained deeply connected for a moment.
You all sat down at the table and started quietly discussing the plans. Legolasâs eyes kept drifting towards you anytime important information was mentioned, still untrusting of this (beautiful) stranger before him.
**********
Legolas continued to keep a close eye on you, still unsure if he could trust you. He is always skeptical of strangers but there was something too enchanting about you. He felt bewitched every time your eyes would meet. You were too perfect, no one is that perfect.
âWe should take the passage through the cave here.â You say pointing to a spot on the map that you and your three companions were hovered over.
âIt would be safer to go around. We have no idea what lurks in that cave.â Legolas responds.
âPerhaps, but it will take us three times as long.â You gently argue as Legolas gives you a scowl in response. âBesides, I have passed through it once before. We should be fine but we will remain on our guard for any surprises.â
âSurprises?â Legolas retorts. âHow do we know this is not some trap you have set for us?â
âLegolas.â Aragorn says firmly.
âWhat? I am sorry but this all seems far too suspicious for my taste. How do we know she is not working for Saruman?â Legolas continues with frustration as his eyes go back and forth between you and Aragorn. You just stare at him blankly. âWhy is she helping us so willingly if she is not a spy meant to trick us? I do not trust her!â
âI am helping you to fight against Saruman because like all of you I do not wish to see this world destroyed by evil.â You state sternly, tears beginning to fill your eyes that were firmly focused on Legolas. âIf you cannot find a way to trust me we are doomed⌠But if that is not enough, and you remain convinced I am just some horrible evil witch, I will figure out some other way on my own and leave you all aloneâŚâ
Legolas simply stares at you in surprise, not quite sure how to respond.
âYou may let me know your thoughts in the morning.â You say before he can respond, with a slight shake in your voice as you fight back tears. âIâm turning in for the night.â
And just like that, you walk off without another word or âgoodnightâ to anyone. Legolas feels a sinking ache his stomach. He could tell you were genuinely hurt by what he said and he felt quite guilty about it now. You had not truly given him a real reason to mistrust you so deeply. He just believed you were too good to be true. Too perfect. Maybe deep down he was simply trying to mask the unwanted feelings he was quickly developing.
âI am going to turn in as well.â Legolas says lowly to Aragorn and Gimli. âGoodnight.â
He walks off to his room which was directly across from yours. His heart and feet stop at the sad sound of you crying in your room. His advanced hearing could hear your soft sobs through your door, though you were clearly trying to remain unheard. Another wave of guilt washed over him.
He felt a magnetic pull towards your door and was nearly about to knock before deciding against it. He retires to his own room instead, unable to find any rest as you overtook all of his thoughts.
**********
The next morning Legolas was quick to rise. He was eager to see you and apologize profusely. He waited anxiously at the table you had been at last night. After some time, his head perked up at the sound of feet approaching from the hallway. His expression quickly sunk when he saw Aragorn and Gimli come around the corner.
âDo you know if (y/n) is awake?â Legolas asks.
âAy, she is awake.â Gimli responds, giving a knowing side eye to Aragorn, making Legolas raise his brow at them.
âHer room is emptyâŚâ Aragorn says hesitantly, avoiding direct eye contact with Legolas. âShe must have left in the night.â
âAll because you could not keep your mouth shut!â Gimli points out.
âGimli.â Aragorn says sternly.
The dwarf grumbles an apology. Legolas hardly pays any attention to the insult or the apology as his mind races from the news of you being suddenly gone. He feels sick to his stomach, not completely sure why your absence affected him so deeply. As he goes to say something the inn door opens and you walk inside, your hood up and your bag at your side.
âForgive me, I was restless this morning and went for an early walk.â You say blankly to the men at the table as you walk over to them.
Legolas lets out a quiet breath of relief. The feelings he had thinking you had left just proved how badly he wanted you to stay with them, with him.
âI trust you have made your decision?â You ask Legolas directly.
âI have.â He stands from his chair. âI have decided to trust you.â He states.
âOh!â You say in slight surprise. âWell, I suppose that is good then...â
Legolas raises a brow at your dry tone, you notice.
âI was expecting a much different response.â You explain.
âPlease forgive me, my lady.â Legolas gently takes your hand in his, you let him. âMy behaviour last night was unbecoming of me and you did not deserve that. You have given no reason to earn such disrespect. I am truly sorry.â
Your slightly pursed lips curl into a pleased smile. This was not what you were anticipating at all. You truly thought he despised you. You assumed it had already been decided last night that he would certainly choose to be rid of you. You did not know that he actually had made his decision last night, it was just not the choice you expected. You were oddly relieved as you realized you not only didnât want to part from the crew, but you did not want to part from Legolas.
âYou do not understand how glad I am to hear that.â You smile to him.
He smiles back and places a kiss to the back of your hand before letting go.
âWell then, the adventure continues!â You say to the group of men before you all continue your journey.
**********
Legolas was quite impressed seeing you in battle. Your powers were incredible but what blew him away was how skilled you were with a blade. You stuck closed together during the fight, like magnets. There were multiple times you pulled a brave move that saved his life and he, yours.
One attack had you knocked on your back. You fought hard, pushing against your enemies dagger that was getting closer and closer to your throat. You were too exhausted to use any more magic to save you, your life flashed before your eyes when the tip of the dagger touched your skin. Suddenly, the enemy lets out a pained scream and you see the tip of a sword sticking out of its eye, itâs blood splattered on your already blood coated face. You see Legolas standing over you as he kicks the enemy to the side so he fell to the ground and not on top of you. He reaches his hand out and pulls you up.
âThank you.â You pant.
âNo problem.â He pants back, both of you exhausted from battle.
After the battle you all began to flee back to your meeting spot. You climb on your horse and go to Legolasâs side.
âClimb up!â You call down to him.
âI need to find Arod!â He calls back.
âHe is safe! Gimli already took him!â
âThat littleâŚâ He snarls. âAlright, let me steer!â
âJust get on!â You shake your head at him.
He climbs on behind you, the saddle forcing your bodies to press closely together. You ride off and the friction between you in the saddle begins causing a panic to rise in Legolas as his member quickly hardens behind you. He tries hard to concentrate on absolutely anything else but with your butt bouncing and pushing up against him as you rode, it made it impossible. He prayed to the gods that you would not notice but you were secretly smirking to yourself as you clearly felt something hard pressed against your backside. You casually push into him even more as you continue your journey, your cheeks quickly heating at his desire for you.
**********
You rest and celebrate from battle at a nearby inn. Gimli boldly challenges Legolas to a drinking contest. Several mugs of ale later the dwarf was piss drunk laughing loudly.
âI feel somethingâŚâ Legolas suddenly says, lifting his hand and rubbing his fingers together. âA slight tingle in my fingers⌠I think itâs affecting me.â
Gimli cheers loudly, raising another cup as they both continue to drink. After some time Gimli lays passed out on the table and Legolas is stumbling towards where you stood against the wall with your now empty cup.
âYou seem to be having fun?â You smirk at him.
âQuite.â He smirks back, a drunk smile stuck on his face. âDo you think you could point me to the direction of my rooom?â He slightly slurs.
You chuckle at him. âCome now, I am heading back to mine as well.â
He follows you down the dimly lit hallways of endless doors and couldnât help but continuously glance in your direction. He was too busy drinking with Gimli that he hadnât noticed earlier just how revealing your dress was. The purple fabric wrapped around your body in a way that left your back and arms fully exposed. The sight of the few freckles scattered across your back made his cheeks heat, though that could also be from all the ale. The dress was long and flowed openly as you walked, briefly exposing your bare legs underneath. Then his eyes slowly wandered up to the low cut V of your dress, revealing a sinful amount (he thought) of your large breasts. He felt a jolt go down his spine and shoot directly to his member.
You stopped suddenly and his eyes met yours.
âWe are here.â You say a little awkwardly, gesturing to your rooms that sat across from each other at the very end of the halls.
His cheeks darken, unsure how much of his gaze you had caught.
âGoodnight, Legolas.â You smile before leaning in and placing a soft kiss to his cheek.
You turn towards your door when his hand grabs yours.
â(y/n)âŚâ He says in a whisper, leaning in closer to you as your hands remain connected.
âYes?â You whisper back, eyes searching his.
âI am not sure when I will have the courage again to say thisâŚâ He says as his other hand cups your cheek, causing your heart to race. âI think you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. And the most interesting, kind, wild, and courageous woman I have ever met.â
You canât help the wide grin that spreads across your face at his words. Before you have time to respond he closes the space between you and captures your lips in a searing kiss. It was deeply passionate, hungry. Your hands cling to his shirt as you kiss him back desperately, happily letting his tongue slip into your mouth. His hand moves into your hair as he pushes you back up against the wall. His lips fall to your neck, kissing and sucking gently.
âLegolasâŚâ You breathe.
The sound of his name softly falling from your lips like that just spurred him on. His lips continue to ravish your neck and move down your chest as his hand grabs at your breast. A soft moan escapes you and the need for him fills your veins like fire. You wanted him so badly⌠but not like this.
âLegolasâŚâ You whisper again, this time gently pulling him off you. âI think we should slow downâŚâ
âYes. Sorry. Yes, youâre right. I am sorry. I should not have-â He stutters a bit anxiously.
âNo! No. You have no reason to apologize.â You say reassuringly.
âI should not have assumed-â
âLegolas.â You say firmly, cupping his cheek in your hand. âI want you. I want you much more than I would care to admit⌠But when, or if, that moment happens⌠I want us both to be fully in the right state of mind.â
âYes⌠you are right.â His hand covers the one on his cheek. âI would also like to be able to ravish you⌠fully.â He gives you a devilish smirk as his eyes drift from your lips back to your eyes.
His words make you blush and he watches as you bite your lower lip. It took both of you all of your will power to finally pull away.
âGoodnight, (y/n).â He says, taking your hand to place a kiss upon it.
âGoodnight, Legolas.â You give a blushing smirk before you turn to walk into your room.
Your eyes meet his a final time as you both go to close your doors. No words are said but the look between you was an unspoken promise for later.
Sleep was difficult to find as your mind races thinking of the steamy kiss you had just shared with Legolas. The thought of your tongues intertwined, his sinful mouth all over your neck and chest. You had a taste of each other and now the desire for him was driving you absolutely mad.
Legolas was in no better shape. The alcohol began to fade from his system but he still felt drunk on the memory of your lips on his. His hard member pressed angerly against his trousers. He couldnât help himself. He would blame the blinding lust on the alcohol later, when he was completely sober and trying to reason his actions. For now, he shoved shame aside and pulled his aching cock out and began slowly stroking himself. His hand speeds up as intoxicating visions of you flash in his mind. Your revealed skin, the freckles on your back and your long pale legs. His lips on your sinfully exposed chest. The soft gasps and moans that slipped from your perfect lips. What finally pushed him over the edge was your voice ringing in his ears âLegolas⌠LegolasâŚâ Your soft whispers of his name had his release shooting across his stomach as a choked out moan escapes him.
He cleans up for bed and rest finds him surprisingly fast after that. His dreams were filled with nothing but images of you.
**********
A loud rumble of thunder wakes Legolas in the night. His mind instantly begins to race at the memory of the steamy kiss you had shared just outside the door. He could not resist the strong magnetic force pushing him to go and see you. After several minutes of debate he throws off the blankets, revealing his shirtless upper half and heads towards the door.
He quietly closes his door behind him before stepping towards yours. He was desperate to see you but also did not want to wake you if you happened to be sleeping through the loud thunder continuing outside. He knocks lightly on the door, not to wake you if you were asleep but loud enough you would hear if you were awake.
His heart stops as he hears your footsteps getting closer and watches as the door slowly opens.
âLegolas?â You ask in a sleepy whisper, peaking out the door.
âApologies my lady, I hope I did not wake you.â He responds quietly, careful not to wake anyone else in the nearby rooms.
âNo, the thunder woke me⌠Though I have hardly been able to sleep.â
You try to ignore the heat pooling between your legs at the sight of his bare toned upper body and his rarely loose hair tucked messily behind his pointed ears. You also notice his eyes scan over your form. He nearly lost all restraint right then and there, at the sight of your nipples poking through your thin night dress.
Before you could ask what he was doing at your door in the middle of the night he says in a whisper- âI could not stop thinking about you...â
You canât help but smile as your eyes connect, electricity sparking silently between you.
âI have not been able to stop thinking about you eitherâŚâ You say lowly. âDo you⌠do you want to come in?â
Legolas smirks and nods before boldly capturing your lips and walking you both into the room as he closes and locks the door behind him.
âAre you certain?â You ask him in a pant, breaking the kiss. He knew exactly what you were referring to.
He knew he was certainly not in his right mind with the way you haunted his thoughts. But he knew he was now completely sober and knew for certain this is what he wanted. You were what he desperately wanted.
âI am certain.â He responds, looking deep into your eyes. âAre youâŚ?â
You nod a little too eagerly, making him chuckle. He kisses you again and you both make your way over to the bed. You boldly pull your night dress over your head, leaving you completely exposed before him. You watch his breath catch and fire flicker behind his eyes as he takes you in.
âLay downâŚâ He says in a seductive whisper.
You donât hesitate for even a second before getting into bed. He quickly climbs over top of you and leans in. A nearly silent moan escapes you at the feeling of your breasts pressed against his bare skin. His lips hover just above yours as your noses brush.
âYou are⌠exquisite.â He whispers before capturing your lips again.
This kiss is much more slow, tender. Like heâs savouring every second and every reaction from you. Each gentle flick of his tongue against yours calculated and deliberate. His lips move to your neck, leaving a trail of kisses and then sucking harshly.
âLegolas! You are going to leave a markâŚâ You yell in a whisper.
âGood. Then everyone will know who you belong to.â He says in a husky voice against your neck.
His words send a shiver through your entire being. He continues his light torture on your skin, sucking and gently nipping his way down your collarbone. Once he reaches your chest he does not hesitate to take your breast into his mouth. You moan as his warm tongue circles around your nipple, he moves to the other breast to do the same before kissing down your stomach, your breathing now rising and falling frantically.
âTell me if you wish for me to stopâŚâ He says in a rough, deep voice that you had never heard from him before.
You shook your head at him. Having him stop was the very last thought on your mind. He gives you a devilish smirk before his mouth moves down onto your core. You gasp loudly as his tongue instantly begins working against your clit. Your fingers bury into his silky white hair as soft whimpers escape you.
He slowly slides in his long slender finger, testing you before he adds a second. The way he begins to curl his fingers inside you as his tongue relentlessly works at your pearl has you crying out his name. You were grateful for the loud rain and rumbling thunder masking your moans while Aragorn was sleeping in just the next room.
Legolas subconsciously begins grinding against the bed as he continues ravishing you, his achingly hard member screaming to be released. His fingers work faster as he feels your beautiful thighs tighten around his head, warning him how close you are. With a final cry out you come undone, pulsing against his fingers and soaking his face.
He pulls away and you look down at him, his glistening face between your legs, messy hair, cocky smirk and heavy lustful eyes staring into yours. You felt like you could come again just from the sight of him.
You pull him to you and kiss him hungrily, tasting yourself on his tongue.
âI need you inside me, please.â You pant, you could not wait a moment longer to have him.
He growls at your words as you reach for the hem of his trousers. His pants are quickly thrown to the floor and he lets out a shaky breath as your delicate fingers wrap around his length. He glides his tip against your core making you gasp. He smirks to himself before pushing into you. You let out a relieved moan in tandem, both of your mouths dropping open. Legolas stills inside you for a moment, the feeling of your warmth wrapped tightly around him had his head completely spinning.
âLegolasâŚâ You pant.
He looks deeply into your purple eyes and the connection of it makes your heart skip a beat. He presses his lips to yours before sliding out and thrusting back into you. You moan into his mouth as he does it again while continuing to chase your tongue with his. His lips move to your neck as he gradually increases his speed. He canât help the moans and grunts that escape him.
âGods (y/n)⌠you feel fucking incredible.â He groans against your ear, causing goosebumps all over your skin.
You could not remember if you had ever even heard him curse before. You moan loudly in response. Suddenly he sits up, falling out of you causing you to whine from the sudden loss. He lifts your legs onto his shoulders before leaning down and plunging back into you. You cry out and he begins pounding into you relentlessly. The new angle and merciless speed quickly makes you see stars. Your mind goes completely blank other than his name and the amazing feelings he was sending throughout your body. Your nails dig hard into his biceps as your orgasm hits you like a tidal wave. You let out a long final moan that rings in loudly his ears. Loud enough that you were certain the thunder did not mask it.
You are completely breathless as he continues slamming into you, now chasing his own release. He lets your legs fall back down to his waist, wrapping around him. Another orgasm creeps up and threatens to overtake you.
âFu-ck!â Legolas moans loudly as he spills into you, the intensity of it making him dizzy.
You moan loudly with him as he triggers your release once again. You wrap your legs tighter around his waist and pull him deeper into you as he fills you with his seed.
He rolls over, crashing onto the bed beside you. You both lay there facing the ceiling panting, trying to catch your breath and bring your minds back down to earth.
âWow⌠that was⌠wow.â Legolas says between heavy breaths.
You let out a breathless chuckle in response. He pulls you in close and you cuddle up to him. He places a kiss on your head and softly plays with your hair as you peacefully fall asleep.
**********
The next morning you wake and look to Legolas with a mischievous idea in your mind. You could not stop replaying last nights events in your head. But there was one thing you realized you had not done. With that in mind, you slowly pull the blanket down his body, revealing his morning wood. You begin to place soft kisses all the way down his stomach, making him slightly squirm under your lips.
âWhat are you doing?âŚâ Legolas mumbles sleepily.
âWhat does it look like I am doing?â You smirk at him before sucking on his tip, causing him to let out a sound between a gasp and a moan.
His heavy lidded eyes meet yours and his mouth parted, already breathing heavily.
âDo you want me to stop?â You pull away teasingly.
âGods no.â He breathes before placing his hand on your head, gently urging you back down.
You smirk to yourself before you take him fully into your mouth, forcing a loud groan to escape him. You continue to bob your head, taking him fully down your throat. Legolasâs mind was completely blurred, all he could think of right now was beautiful, magnificent, you⌠and the feeling of his cock slamming against the back of your beautiful throat. Your actions quickly bringing him to his release.
âGods (y/n), Iâm going to-â He chokes out.
Just then thereâs a loud knock at the door. You pull your mouth off him with a âpopâ and look to the door then at Legolas, concern on your face.
â(Y/n)? Are you awake?â Aragorn calls from behind the door and you hear Gimli mutter something else to him.
âIgnore them.â Legolas urges in a desperate whisper, cupping your cheek with his hand. âTheyâll go away if they think you are still sleeping. Just⌠ugh, please do not stop.â
You smirk and give him a small nod before taking him into your mouth once more. Legolas tries to hide his soft moans as his fingers tightened in your hair. He was so, so, close.
Another loud knock. You ignore it and continue bringing him towards the edge.
â(Y/n)?â Aragorn calls again. âSorry to disturb you, but we cannot find Legolas. His things are still in his room but we cannot find him anywhere. We are worried something may have happened.â
âOh for fucks sake...â Legolas huffs and storms out of bed, grabbing the sheet to wrap around his naked waist.
You watch from bed as he stomps over to the door, pulling the other blanket up to your chest to hide your exposed body. He swings open the door and you see Aragorn flinch in surprise as he takes in Legolasâs half naked form wrapped in a crumpled white sheet and an annoyed look plastered on his face.
âLegolas? I- I-â Aragorn stutters and then spots over Legolasâs shoulder you lying in the bed, peaking at them both from under the blanket. âI- I am sorry⌠Just, um, come meet us at the bar when you are, done- I mean, readyâŚâ
Legolas simply nods, trying to bite back a smile and keep a stern face until they were out of sight.
âWell, that solves that mystery!â Gimli laughs loudly once the door is shut.
Legolas makes his way back to you with a smirk.
âWell, that was incredibly awkward.â You chuckle and get up from the bed, leaving the blanket behind. âI suppose we should get ready.â
Legolasâs eyes flicker with fire as he takes in your naked body now standing right in front of him.
âAs they said, we will meet them when we are doneâŚâ He says lowly.
He lets the sheet around his waist drop to the floor and your eyes glance down to his hard member before meeting his eyes again. The raw desire in his eyes causes fire to spread throughout your body.
He grabs both of your cheeks and pulls you into a passionate hungry kiss. You whimper at the intensity. He quickly flips you around and leads you back over to the bed.
âOn your knees, love.â He whispers sensually in your ear, causing you to shiver with goosebumps, his hardness pressing against your back.
You follow his instructions and get onto the bed on your knees. You bend forward, giving him perfect access to you. He growls at the sight before him. You feel his hands grab your butt and hips. He shoves himself into you and you yelp out a moan. He wastes no time and starts a fast and relentless pace.
âMy loveâŚâ He pants. âI- I cannot last long.â
You had brought him so close to sweet release with your mouth only moments ago, before you were interrupted, and it was making it impossible for him to last any longer. He was fighting hard to hold back at the very edge waiting for your response.
âItâs alright, my love. Come for me...â You breathe.
Hearing those words in your enchanting voice pushes him right over the edge and he finally lets go of the last thread of restraint. He grunts loudly as he comes deep inside you, his head thrown back and his fingers digging hard into your hips.
He rests against your back for a moment as he catches his breath. He pulls out and you both quickly get cleaned up and dressed. You made sure to choose a high cut dress to hide the many love marks that were spread across your neck and collarbones.
âReady?â You smile at him.
âNo.â He smirks and pulls you close against him.
He kisses you, gentle and slow. His tongue lightly glides over yours only once, before he places a final kiss to your lips and pulls away.
âI wish to stay in this room with you all day and night...â He gently pulls the neckline of your dress down to reveal your skin, before softly kissing your neck, following the trail of marks he had left last night.
âMmm.â You hum. âI wish for that tooâŚâ
It takes all your strength to pull away from him as he nips at the sensitive spot on your neck. Your hooded eyes meet his and he watches as you bite your lip, which causes even more desire to fill him.
âBut we cannotâŚâ You sigh, eyes still connected intensely.
âYou are rightâŚâ He sighs back, reluctantly pulling away from you.
He grabs his things from his room as you gather your own things and head out together.
**********
Aragorn and Gimli were waiting at a table in the bar area of the inn, just where they said theyâd be.
âItâs about time!â Gimli calls loudly, Aragorn nudges him to be quiet.
âApologies gentleman.â You say shyly as you sit down at the table.
Legolas sits in the empty chair across from you and you felt your stomach tighten when your eyes meet. You could hardly focus on what Aragorn and Gimli were discussing. Your mind swirled with the pleasure you had just shared only minutes ago and all the wild memories of last night. The feel of him, the look of his body, the taste of it, his pleasured facial expressions, his moans and sighs⌠it all flooded your mind. You tried to snap back to reality and focus but your eyes met his again and you could tell by the fire in them and the slight smirk creeping in the corner of his mouth, he was thinking about all of the same things you were.
You bite your lip trying to fight back your own knowing smirk. The action catches his attention and you watch his eyes look from your lips back to your eyes, somehow with even more fire behind them. There were unspoken words behind his gaze that you understood. All he was thinking about right now was being inside of you again and taking you right here on this table. And your lustful stare back at him told him that is exactly what you wanted too.
âCould you please stop eye-fucking eachother? We have important things to discuss!â Gimli yells with a laugh, startling you back to reality.
âWe werenât-â You clear your throat, choking back the embarrassment. âSorry. Please continue.â
Legolas simply smirks and shrugs. You both turn in your seats to fully face Aragorn and Gimli as they repeat the plans you missed. For a quick moment you dared to glance at Legolas again and when his eyes met yours, they were full of heated promises for later when you could finally be alone again.
**********
Later that night you find yourself tangled in the sheets with one another. He enters you for the second time that night.
âI have to ask you something.â He mumbles against your ear as he spoons you from behind.
âWhat is it?â You breathe out as he continues to slowly move in and out of you.
âDid you use some kind of spell⌠or magic on me?⌠Because the way I feel about you⌠the way you completely consume my mind⌠and my bodyâŚâ He says between slow thrusts, placing a gentle nip to your neck. âI feel bewitched.â
You chuckle shyly, the confession of his feelings making your heart soar. You turn around, making him slip out of you. He whines at the loss of your warmth but then your lips find his in a fierce kiss as you move to straddle him.
âI did not use any magic on you, my love.â You mumble against his lips.
You grind against his length, causing his hands to grab onto your hips.
âThough, every time our eyes meetâŚâ You say as your eyes meet intensely. âI feel bewitched by you.â
âI feel like I am in a trance whenever I am near you. Your eyes, your lips, your wicked mind, even your scent⌠You-â His words are cut off with a groan as you sink down onto his cock. â-intoxicate me.â He chokes out the last words.
**********
You could not get enough of one another. You were all over each other every chance you got to be alone, whether it was time for bed or you had a moment to sneak off somewhere. Aragorn and Gimli could hardly stand to be around you both sometimes with the sexual tension constantly bubbling between you two. But it was not just the sexual desire and lust⌠the romance, gentleness and love that you shared between you was just as intoxicating as any of it. You fell deeply for your handsome male elf and he fell deeply in love with his beautiful sorceress.

I stood on the battlefield, washed off the blood and headed to my secondary residence. Â
âŚ
The instant I stepped inside, I collapsed like a puppet whose strings had been cut.Â
Like always, I felt lightheaded and couldnât think straight.
However, the book laying on my desk caught my eye.
The cover of the book was decorated with a rose motif, a flower rare in Kogyoku.Â
I crawled closer to the book and reached for it.
When I opened the cover, a piece of paper with text written in the Princessâ penmanship fell out and landed on my face. Â
Those were various detailed annotations about the bookâs contents.Â
A pure desire to enjoy the book came right to me.
(My birthdayâŚ)
(It was my first time.)
âŚ
Nobleman: Happy birthday, Prince Kagari. I wish you a joyful and prosperous year ahead.
Kagari: Oh.Â
This year too, there was a snaking line of people outside the castle for my birthday.Â
I received countless birthday greetings, but I didn't know the appropriate response to them.Â
(Everything is different from when I was still part of the royal family. There are so many things I donât understand.)
Back in the day, my birthdays were simple, ending with a congratulatory speech from the King.Â
My older brother had countless people celebrating his birthday and even had a banquet held for him, but that wasn't the case for me â his younger brother.Â
No one ever doubted it because the difference between me and my older brother, who possessed remarkable capabilities that made everyone around have high expectations for him, was like night and day.
(But⌠thinking about it now, I wish Iâd at least gotten one dorayaki.)
(... Hm?)
At the very end of the line â a familiar figure was standing under a cherry blossom tree in the distance.Â
My body moved on its own before I even realised it.Â
Kagari: Youâre wide open, Princess.Â
The Princess reacted exaggeratingly in surprise. I put a hand over her mouth and dragged her into the shade.
Emma: MmphâŚ!Â
I pinned her struggling body against a tree trunk before closing the distance between us to avoid drawing the attention of the people nearby.
(Sheâs still as weak as ever, like she could die any moment.)Â
Kagari: Do you promise to behave?
I took my hand off her mouth and she nodded.
Emma: ⌠What are you doing here, Prince Kagari?
Kagari: I saw you.
Emma: So you came to see me?
Kagari: You called me here.
(Maybe.)
Her fidgeting near the line must mean she wants to see me, right?Â
Kagari: If you were planning to join the line, donât bother.
Kagari: It wonât end until nightfall.
Emma: That long
Kagari: Thereâs a banquet tonight. Thatâll go on till dawn.Â
Kagari: So, why are you here?
The Princessâ eyes darted around awkwardly.
It was suspicious behaviour, she looked very uneasy, as though she was hiding something she wanted to say.
Emma: ⌠Um⌠there were so many people gathered, and I got curiousâŚ
She hid the bag she was holding behind her back.
Given todayâs occasion and the Princessâ personality, the answer is obvious.
(Sheâs hesitant to celebrate my birthday.)Â
(Is this really something to agonise about?)
(... I donât really get it, but this is fine.)
(It doesn't matter whether I receive birthday greetings or notâŚ)
(But spending my birthday with her might actually be more enjoyable.)
(Iâll take her along for the customary inspection.)
âŚ
Dressed as one of the Yashaâs subordinates, the Princess pointed an imitation sword at the assassins.Â
I couldnât help but be secretly impressed as I watched from atop a roof.
(Sheâs gotten more used to things compared to when she first arrived in Kogyoku.)
(Even though itâs only an imitation sword, sheâs learnt how to point one at others.)Â
(With that amount of guts, sheâll have no problem surviving in Kogyoku. Full marks for her.)Â
(Also⌠the clothes my subordinates wear really suit her.)
I stared absentmindedly at her exposed nape, where her hair was tied up in a single knot.)
(I remember Matias saying something about this before.)
(âThe nape, usually hidden by her hair, is the most valuableâ.)
At that time, I thought he was purely spouting weird nonsense, but I understand now.Â
(Itâs so slender, I feel like biting itâ wait, what? Why do I want to bite it?
(No idea. Iâll ask Matias next time.)
(If this is something that requires some brains, Iâll ask Azel.)Â
While I was lost in thought, the assassin placed their hands on the hilt of their swords.Â
Before they could unsheath their swords ever so slightly, I jumped down and swung my sheathed sword.Â
The impact was solid, and all the assassinsâ eyes rolled back as they fell unconscious.Â
Had I drawn my sword, their heads would have flown off their shoulders.Â
(Weak.)
Kagari: That was easy. I hoped theyâd at least be good enough for me to draw my sword.
As I turned around feeling disappointed, the Princess was in the midst of sheathing the imitation sword.
Before the blade fully went into the scabbard, I moved closer and held her slender hand.Â
Kagari: Princess, you need to adjust the angle of your stance.Â
Emma: I seeâŚ
Kagari: Also, never hunch your back on a battlefield.
Emma: I never noticed I was doing that.
Kagari: Exactly. Even though youâre dressed like one of my subordinates, youâre weak.
Emma: ⌠Iâm sorry.Â
Cat: NyaaâŚÂ
While I was guiding her for future use, I heard a meowing sound coming from next to my feet.Â
It was the stray cat I had an undesirable, yet inseparable relationship with.Â
Kagari: Ah, give me a minute.
I folded a piece of paper with instructions on how to deal with the men lying on the ground and handed it to the cat.Â
It gave a delighted meow as it took the paper in its mouth and scurried off.Â
Emma: What was that
Kagari: Calico No.1.
Kagari: It often roams the streets. So if you ever need to contact me, you can count on it for that.
Emma: So instead of a carrier pigeon⌠you have a carrier cat.
Kagari: Yeah.Â
(This guyâs more temperamental than a pigeon, though.)
Emma: About the piece of paper you gave it earlier onâŚ
Kagari: I summoned my subordinates. Itâs a hassle to clean up this mess.Â
I stood up and looked down at the amateurish assassins lying on the ground.Â
The Princess looked eager for an explanation, almost to the point she was getting restless.Â
(Theyâre no more significant than random passersby, butâŚ)Â
Kagari: This is a âgiftâ I receive on my birthday every year, amidst the celebrations.Â
Kagari: I was looking forward to a more challenging opponent, but I got disappointed this year too.
The Princess frowned at my blunt response.
(Is she angry?)
(Weird. It doesn't even concern her.)
(Maybe this is something âstrangeâ to the Princess?)
(When you come from a different place, whatâs common and whatâs not changes. That's interesting.)
(Whatâs common knowledge to me, might not be so common to her.)Â
âŚ
Night fell as usual, and it was time for the banquet.
Savouring the enjoyable time we had together, I parted ways with the Princess.Â
Soon after, the ever so hardworking Calico No.1 came with a letter in its mouth.
âŚ
I went to the cherry blossom tree where I sometimes admired the flowers with the Princess, and the sender of that letter looked clearly pleased to see me.Â
Feeling comforted by her reaction, I sat down next to her under the tree.Â
Emma: Has the banquet ended?
Kagari: Not yet.
Emma: You managed to slip away.
Kagari: Your summon is more important.
Cat: NyaaÂ
(Is it asking for a reward?)
I gently petted the cat that had been nuzzling itself against my leg and it left like it was never there.Â
Heartless cat.Â
(Right now, the Princess is more important than Calico No.1.)
Kagari: You changed your clothes.
Emma: Yes, I wanted to meet you as my usual self.
Emma: If Iâm going to celebrate your birthday, I want to do it as the version of me you met in Kogyoku. Â
Kagari: âŚÂ
(Is this what she meant when she said she âwanted some of my time after the banquetâ?)
Emma: Happy birthday, Prince Kagari.
The Princess, who had been hesitant about wishing me a happy birthday this morning, presented me with a cherry blossom-patterned package.
I accepted the package, unwrapped it, and took out what was insides
Kagari: A book?Â
Emma: Itâs a storybook from Rhodolite.Â
(Itâs my first time receiving a book as a birthday gift. Iâm feeling uneasy.)
Kogyokuâs Yasha was thought by others to only wield swords and never read books.Â
But in truth, I donât dislike reading.Â
Emma: Youâve taught me many wonderful things about Kogyoku.Â
Emma: Itâs thrilling to discover new things about the world that Iâve never known before, soâŚ
Emma: I chose this book because I want you to experience that thrill too. Itâs one of my favourites.Â
Emma: ⌠And, if possible, I thought it might help convey Rhodoliteâs charm tooâŚ
Kagari: The book is set in Rhodolite?
Emma: Thatâs right! Itâs a collection of heartwarming short stories.
Emma: Itâs the perfect remedy for when youâre feeling worn out.
Kagari: I almost forgot youâre a book merchant.
(I thought itâs just like any other book, but this oneâs carefully chosen by the Princess.)
Knowing the amount of thought put into the gift made it much more significant.Â
Kagari: Youâre probably the only one whoâd think of giving me a book.Â
(Iâve decided. Iâll make this a family heirloom.)
I stared at the cover, flipped through the pages, and briefly scanned through the text.Â
It doesn't seem like Iâll be running into any trouble if I end up with too much free time for a while.Â
Emma: ⌠Iâm relieved I could properly celebrate your birthday.Â
I looked up when she suddenly spoke.
The Princess heaved a sigh of relief, like she had been holding her breath for a while.Â
Kagari: Youâre overthinking it. Iâd never find it bothersome to be celebrated.Â
Emma: But your detached reaction to all the greetings and gifts made me rather worried that you would.Â
Kagari: ⌠Did I come off that way?
(I didn't realise. No wonder the Princess hesitated.)
I closed the book and lowered my gaze.Â
Kagari: Itâs not that I dislike being celebrated, or that Iâm uninterested in birthdays.
Kagari: Itâs just⌠I still donât know what I should be feeling when Iâm being celebrated.
Kagari: Itâs been a recent problem for me.
Never had I ever imagined that not having extravagant birthday celebrations like my older brother did would someday become a source of my troubles.Â
(Receiving a celebration particularly from her is complicated.)
(... I feel restless, and itâs hard to even look her in the eyes.)
(Is this the correct feeling I should be getting? What kind of emotion is this?)Â
As I sat there in silence, full of uncertainty, a gentle breeze blew.Â
Petals from the cherry blossom tree that was in bloom all year round danced in the air and fluttered down.Â
The Princess, whose attention had been constantly focused on the Yasha until now, suddenly turned her gaze toward the cherry blossoms.
Emma: Itâs beautiful.Â
(âŚ)
The restlessness turned into something murky.Â
(... Not going to look at me anymore?)
(Youâre so heartless.)
I grabbed a fistful of the Princessâ skirt.Â
It was a spontaneous gesture.Â
Emma: Prince Kagari?
(Why must I lose her to some cherry blossoms?)
Kagari: Youâve been thinking about my birthday all day long, and now youâre completely mesmerised by cherry blossoms?Â
Emma: Of course Iâm still thinking about your birthday.Â
Emma: I just think that it looks as though the cherry blossoms are celebrating tooâŚÂ
Kagari: Just you celebrating it is enough. Donât look away.Â
For some reason, the Princess reacted to my vent with a gentle smile.Â
Kagari: ⌠What are you smiling about?
Emma: Itâs nothing.Â
(Iâm curious⌠but this doesn't feel so bad.)
I felt my facial expression soften, and the Princess turned her gaze to the cherry blossoms once again.
My grip on the fabric of her skirt tightened.Â
Emma: ⌠I planned to only give you your gift, but we ended up talking for quite a while.
Emma: Shouldnât you return to the banquet soon, Prince Kagari?
Kagari: âŚ
(I don't want to.)
(I want her to celebrate my birthday, more than the banquet.)Â
(But somehow, even though theyâre all celebrations, something feels different.)
I retraced the dayâs events, recalling each and every one of the Princessâ words and trying to pinpoint the cause of my restlessness.Â
(If there is a difference⌠itâd be that everyone elseâs celebrations are nothing more than mere formalities.)
(You could say they have ulterior motives, wanting to gain the Yashaâs favour and protection.)
(But the Princessâ celebration doesn't have any of that.)Â
(... This is the first time Iâm receiving a sincere birthday celebration.)
Kagari: Princess, donât you want to keep the Yasha all to yourself?
Emma: I think Iâve already monopolised you enough.Â
(Itâs not enough.)
(... I want more)
Kagari: ⌠Stay here.
Emma: Then⌠Iâll take you up on the offer.
Emma: Can I continue celebrating your birthday for a little while longer?Â
Kagari: Yeah.Â
Hearing the word âcelebrateâ from her lips made me restless again.Â
(Could this restless feeling be⌠bashfulness?)Â
(... Am I actually feeling bashful because sheâs celebrating my birthday?)Â
(Thatâs a first. I learned something new today.)
Kagari: If you want to celebrate, do it. I canât guarantee Iâll make it to my next birthday.
Emma: ⌠I don't like such jokes.
Kagari: Iâm not joking. But rest assured that I want you to celebrate my birthday over and over again.
(Itâd be nice if thereâll be a ânextâ.)Â
(... I want to feel bashful again. I want to experience this feeling even more.)
(I want to get to know this restlessness better.)
(When Iâm with her⌠my emotions come alive.)
âŚ
When I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by darkness.
(... Did I fall asleep?)
As I regained consciousness, I realised I was holding a book in my arms.
I heard a faint sound of gentle breathing coming from next to me.
I shifted my gaze in its direction to see Calico No.1 laying there with its belly facing up, looking completely defenseless.
(It's getting better at hiding its presence and becoming more shameless too.)
(Who exactly does that remind me of?)
Careful not to wake Calico No.1, I picked up the book and opened it while laying down.Â
Even though I had already finished it and remembered its contents, my eyes didn't stop following the text.
The stories were set in a peaceful country called Rhodolite.Â
The Princess, born in that kind of country, was honest, straightforward, and her existence dazzling bright.Â
(That makes sense.)
On my birthday â when I received those empty, soulless birthday greetings from the crowd, the Princess looked like she couldn't stand it any longer and took my hand.
Under the cherry blossom tree, her smile was like a flower in full bloom and she celebrated the Yashaâs birthday genuinely from the heart.
(She has a beautiful heart.)
(And yet, she unhesitatingly held these hands of mine that have been stained with blood of the people Iâve killed and even gave me her blessings.)
(AhâŚ)
(... I want the Princess).
(But I don't understand why I want her.)
(Will I understand it if she becomes mine, just like this book?)
I sat up and closed the book.
Although the battle was over and my body was supposedly back to its usual state, my head started feeling fuzzy again.Â
That sensation worsened when an image of the Princessâ face emerged in my mind.Â
Despite knowing my symptoms were worsening, my hands refused to let go of the book.Â
I couldnât peel my eyes off it.
It was as though I was clinging onto it.
(I want to see her.)
(I want to see the Princess.)

Ever since you accepted towards the genius society, you and veritas relationship has been strained for the past few days. Thinking it would all go back by giving him space. Until he breaks up with you...
( English is not my first language )
Playing - Goddess by laufey
You and veritas were both professors in the same university and that's how you both meet. Originally he was unbearable wearing that plaster on his face. Saying that he can't stand seeing the face of idiots. And he was referring to you.
But slowly sparks started to bloom. You are the only one that can match his intellectual aspect, and soon you both started to fall in love slowly.
One day he finally takes his plaster off and reveals his face.
Reader : I thought you said, you can't stand looking at idiots
Dr ratio : I don't, but as long as it's you. I wouldn't mind looking at you.
Soon you guys started to go for coffee together, bathing together, admiring the galaxy, enjoying and basking the presents of each other not minding the world because there's only one in each other's worlds.
During your first anniversary of dating, you gave him a two set custom made identical rubber duck of him as well as you, so when takes a bath. Rubber duck him and you will always be seen swimming together
You've always noticed his disappointment of not being accepted towards the genius society and you were there to comfort him and reassure him that he will always be enough.
It's only you and him in the sky, nothing could separate you guys. Even tho he or you are unbearable towards the other but deep inside you feel that there's love for the other one.
Many people said you guys are a perfect match. Everything was perfect until....
One day, you receive an invitation to join the genius society as its number 85# member. Everyone claps and congratulates you and when you look at him, he has this look of betrayal. When you guys are back at home, he stays in his office for the entire night leaving in the once warm bed.
During your congratulation party hosted by the university, many famous people as well as genius society members come to welcome the newest 85# member herta, ruan mei, screwllum, Stephen Lloyd, etc. during your official meeting with herta, veritas was with you, she didn't even acknowledge his existence only looking at you not gazing at him once. She asks for your cooperation towards building a project called simulation universe.
Even some IPC higher-ups arrive to celebrate. You see aventurine chatting with veritas in the corner, until one particular stone heart member introduces himself, his name was sugilite and he kisses your palm as well sending a wink. Suddenly someone sends a cough and it catches both of you guys attention. It was veritas. He said he has some business with you.
Before you can pull your arm away, veritas gently drags you away from the stone heart, and leads you to the balcony after asking are you okay he said he has some work to do and leave the party early.
By far your relationship has become strained, he always faces the other way of the bed without looking at you, he rarely talks to you only asking how are you or how's your day, he hesitated to touch you even when you wrap your arms around his waist he was hesitating whenever or not to touch you.
Recently since you are planning on working with herta on the simulation universe. Your office was told to be removed from the intelligence guild to the herta space station, for maximum work with herta on the simulation universe. Thinking you will only be gone for a few months and will be back to be with veritas.
Until he meets you in an isolated garden in the intelligence guild, he said you guys should break up. The world seems to stop, every thought of doubt comes to your mind and the only thing that comes out of your mouth is oh okay. You were just shocked and he leaves. After a few minutes after he left you sat at a bench and cried your hearts out.
Soon news about you guys breaking up quickly, but instead of crying your hearts out, you bury yourself into your work. Making sure everything is perfect unlike your love. But sometimes memories or reminders of him come towards your mind and make you stop mid-way. But soon you will continue to work. Also recently some gifts started to appear as well large amounts of credit donation towards your project with only one indication from who it was from, the secret admirer gave you jewelry made by the stone "sugilite".
When you try to ask for herta or ruan mei advice, they unfortunately said they are not experts in the fields of romance, but screwllum has been a big help, he will try to find ways to comfort you. You joke to him saying that he has more heart than a human being.
During your audience with nous the aeon themselves, you were allowed to ask any question but there were hundreds of questions but you settled towards one "why do people change" unfortunately you were unable to get a clear answer from the aeon.
You guys haven't been in contact for over one year. Until you meet him again when he visits the space station to inspect the simulation universe for the IPC.

Step 4 of Pansy Parkinsonâs Perfect Plan of Plotting
One Bed â : A narrative device used primarily in romance and romantic comedy genres, where two characters, typically with a burgeoning romantic tension, are forced to share a single bed.
The halfway point. So far, weâre four days in and my devious schemes are already proving fruitful. The tension between Theo and Y/N has been off the charts lately, but it just needs one final little push. After my minion informed me that Theo has been cheating the system by sleeping on the couch, itâs time to take away that barrier once and for all.Â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/41e06b96b0bb57e0d6f1b191696dbc87/350309f01ede2c10-5d/s540x810/cbb6f348f892034e62c6782c3953dcced8b7a7a0.webp)
Fourth Year, Slytherin Dormitories
âI look ridiculous,â you murmured at your reflection.Â
âRidiculously hot,â Pansy corrected.Â
Behind you, she curled a section of your hair with her wand, letting it fall in soft tendrils while you fretted in front of the mirror. Tonight was the night. Ever since the start of term, the Yule Ball was all anyone could talk about. At first, you were just as excited as the rest of your classmates, but the closer it got, the more anxious you felt.Â
You swallowed thickly, wondering why in the bloody hell you allowed Pansy to rope you into buying this dress. Examining your reflection, you smoothed down the front of the baby blue ball gown, fingers trailing over the plunging neckline delicately covered in white lace.
The dress was a lot more daring than anything in your wardrobe, but Pansy insisted. She was convinced that it was perfect for you, but you couldnât help but feel a little self-conscious. The ball gown certainly left little to the imagination. It cinched your waist like a loverâs embrace, the blue fabric resting right above your left thigh in a high slit that accentuated your legs before flowing into a dreamy tulle train. Still, you couldnât deny that it was beautiful.Â
âThis dress was made for you, babe.â Pansy declared as she finished pinning your hair up. âGraham is going to die when he sees you.âÂ
At the mention of your date, you blanched. It wasnât that you didnât like Graham. Since the beginning of fourth year, youâve gone on a handful of dates with him and theyâve all been relatively pleasant, but that was the problem. There was no spark, no excitement, no butterflies. No matter how hard you willed it into existence.Â
There was only one person who made you feel that way, but that was a complication for another day. Theo already loathed Graham enough â truly, he loathed any guy that showed interest in you, but Graham had been the first one that your best friend hadnât successfully deterred. When he asked you to be his date to the Yule Ball, it only seemed natural to accept. Now that it loomed close, you felt sick to your stomach.Â
Still, you tampered down the anxiety and turned to your friend. If anyone had a right to dread the night ahead, it was Pansy.Â
âWill you be alright tonight?âÂ
In a rare display of vulnerability, Pansy's smile dropped as she met your gaze in the mirror. Instantly, you pulled her to the edge of her bed and knelt down next to her. âYou donât have to go if you donât want to. We can stay in and watch movies. Just say the word and Iâll cancel, Pans.âÂ
Just a few days ago, she had broken things off with Padma after the Ravenclaw announced that she would be attending the Yule Ball with Ron bloody Weasley. It came as a shock, given the fact that Padma and Pansy had been seeing each other since term started.Â
You thought things were going well. Pansy had been out to your group of friends for a couple of months now and while everyone had been supportive of her journey, Padma was reluctant to make things public. Her own twin hadnât even been aware of their relationship. You understood that coming out looked differently for everyone, but it broke your heart to listen to Pansy doubt herself. She didnât deserve to be kept as a secret.Â
âAnd forfeit the chance to show my ex-girlfriend what sheâs missing out on?â Pansy said, sniffing haughtily and squaring her shoulders back. âNot bloody likely.âÂ
âThereâs the Pansy Parkinson I know.âÂ
Much to her annoyance, you pulled Pansy into a hug. Sighing, she relented and squeezed back as you grinned. âYou know, I thought Ravenclaws were supposed to be smart. Patilâs an absolute idiot for ever letting you go. Youâre the smartest, funniest, and hottest witch I know. Youâre the motherfucking Pansy Parkinson. Any witch in this castle would kill to have you as their girlfriend.âÂ
Your friend chuckled. âThank you, Y/N. It feels strange to be on the other end of a motivational speech. Does it always feel this way when I do it?âÂ
âWell, you tend to be a little bit more forceful,â you teased. âBut I love you for it.âÂ
âI love you too, Y/N.âÂ
Just as you pulled away, a sharp knock startled you out of the tender moment. You and Pansy stared at each other.Â
âCome in,â Pansy called.Â
Draco stumbled through the door, his platinum blonde hair uncharacteristically tousled and his pale complexion tinged with a deep flush. The Malfoy heir looked like he just finished sprinting through the castle. âItâs Theo,â he breathed.
At the mention of your best friend, you sprang to your feet. âWhat happened?âÂ
âHe just received a patronus from Rome,â Draco explained. âNonna is in the hospital.âÂ
Your heart dropped to your stomach. âIs she alright?âÂ
âTheo didnât say much, but heâs with the headmaster right now. Theyâve given him permission to floo to Rome.âÂ
âI have to â I have to go ââ You couldnât breathe. Fear threatened to overcome you entirely, but you fought against it. Theo needed you. âI canât let him be alone.âÂ
âI know,â Draco agreed. âProfessor Snape said heâs leaving within the hour, so we have to hurry.â
As quickly as possible, the three of you rushed out into the corridor. The sound of your heels clicking against the marble tile echoed as you and Pansy followed Dracoâs lead. In his haste, Draco stomped down the staircase and nearly collided with the person waiting at the bottom step.Â
At the landing, Graham stood at attention. Your date was wearing a perfectly tailored deep blue dress robe with shiny leather shoes, which made him appear taller than he actually was. His dark hair was slicked back and away from his green eyes that now roamed over your figure. In his hands was a delicately crafted corsage, presumably for you.Â
âThere you are,â said Graham. He straightened the front of his robes, impatience flickering through his expression. âIâve been looking everywhere for you.âÂ
âIâm so sorry, Graham, but now is not a good time.â You rushed out as Draco tapped his watch, signaling the hour. Theo could be stepping through the floo any moment now. âI have to go. Itâs an emergency.âÂ
Graham frowned. âWhatâs happened? What do you mean you have to go?âÂ
âTheoâs grandmother is in the hospital. I donât have time to explain, but please know Iâm very sorry to miss the ball.âÂ
âMiss the ball?â He repeated in disbelief. âYouâre ditching me for Nott?âÂ
Graham was well aware of Theoâs dislike of him. In fact, the feeling was mutual. He didnât like that the two of you were so close, but there was nothing to be done about that now.Â
âOf course she is! This is a family emergency, you twat. Y/N would never leave Theo alone at a time like this.â Draco growled, frustration written all over his face. âNow get out of the bloody way, Montague.â Â
âThis canât be happening.âÂ
âLook, we can talk about it when we get back, but I really have to go.âÂ
âNo,â Graham firmly stated. He gripped your wrist and held you in place. Fury like no other surged through you. âYou have to choose. Itâs either me or Theo.âÂ
Without thinking, you snatched your arm away and leveled Graham with an icy glare. âTheo. I pick Theo. You may be my date for tonight, but heâs â Theo is â Theo is my person.âÂ
You didnât wait for a reaction. You couldnât care less about the fallout. Graham shouldâve known better than to give you an ultimatum. In your mind, there was no choice other than Theo. You would always pick him. Shoving Montague out of the way, you sprinted through the castle with Pansy and Draco following closely behind. When you reached the headmasterâs office, the phoenix statue standing guard over the entrance gave you pause.Â
âHow do we get in?â you asked frantically.Â
âI donât know,â Draco admitted. He examined the stairs, looking for any sort of opening.Â
Pansy stomped on the spiral staircase in an attempt to get it moving, but nothing happened. With determination, you plucked your wand from your dress pocket and instructed your friends to move. If you had to bombarda the bloody thing, you would.Â
âDrop your wand, Miss Y/L/N.âÂ
You whirled around to find the head of your house staring down at you in disapproval. Professor Snape stood between you and the door, his impenetrable gaze sliding from your wand to the phoenix statue. You held your chin high and your wand even higher. In all your years at Hogwarts, you had never defied Snape so openly, but you were determined to get into that office one way or another.
âWhat exactly is your plan?â Snape asked with his arms crossed. âDecimate the headmasterâs beloved statue to gain entrance?âÂ
âIf it came to that, then yes.â You held your wand steady even though anxiety and apprehension brewed within you like a malevolent storm.Â
Draco shot to his feet. âShe just needs to see Theo, professor.âÂ
Snape appraised you for a moment. You made no indication of standing down. âFollow me, then. The headmaster has been expecting you.âÂ
Without further explanation, Snape climbed onto the spiral staircase. Pansy and Draco squeezed you into a hug and wished you luck. You promised to send them word as soon as you could. As the stairs began to ascend, you watched anxiously as their faces disappeared from view.Â
Inside the headmasterâs office, Theo paced back and forth while Dumbledore attempted to comfort him. He was dressed in a black tuxedo with a baby blue vest and matching tie, the latter of which now hung loosely around his neck as he tugged at the silk. The sight of it was heart wrenching. Even though his expression was cold and distant, you could tell that Theo was worried beyond belief. His fear was as palpable as your own.Â
âTeddy?âÂ
Relief washed over Theo as he turned to find you standing before him. Your best friend gravitated towards you, his lower lip trembling as you surged forward to gather him in your arms.Â
âYou came,â he murmured in a broken whisper.Â
âOf course I did,â you assured him as you rubbed his back. âI wouldnât leave you alone at a time like this.âÂ
Theo took a deep breath as you cradled his cheek. His gaze roamed over your dress, apprehension written all over his features. âIâm so sorry, fragolina. I didnât mean to ruin your night. I know how much you were looking forward to the ball. Fuck, Montague must be furious ââÂ
âTo hell with Montague,â you stated firmly. âYouâre more important.âÂ
Your best friend slid his hand into yours, squeezing tightly as he faced Dumbledore and Snape. âWeâre ready to go now.âÂ
Within a few moments, you found yourself stepping through the lobby of a hospital. Healers milled about in the large, brightly lit room, rushing off to care for their patients. The sight of the yellow robed witches and wizards gave Theo pause. You could only imagine that their presence brought forth traumatic memories of his mumâs frequent trips to St. Mungoâs.Â
Steeling yourself, you marched right up to the front desk and greeted the elderly witch sitting behind the counter. She gave a wide berth at your overly formal attire, but smiled politely when she caught herself.Â
âBuonasera, siamo qui per vedere Serafina Conti.âÂ
âQual è il tuo rapporto con il paziente?â
âGrandson,â Theo rasped. âIâm her grandson.âÂ
The healer checked the records, her eyes skimming over the patient charts. âSerafina is under heavy sedation. The rest of your family has been contacted and should be arriving soon.â
âWhat exactly happened?âÂ
âYour grandmother contracted a case of Forest Cough. Typically, the cough is very mild. Had Serafina sought treatment earlier this week, she wouldâve been perfectly fine, but since she waited, it developed into a fever.âÂ
You swallowed thickly. âWill she be alright?âÂ
âHer healer has her on a dose of magical antibiotics, which also acts as a mild sedative. With a few hours of rest, Serafina should recover quite quickly. If any other symptoms arise, we do advise that she seek treatment as soon as possible. The worst thing you can do is wait.âÂ
âThank you so much.â The weight on your heart lessened at the reassurance. Nonna would be alright. That was all that mattered. âCould we please see her?âÂ
The witch nodded. âOf course. Follow me.âÂ
The two of you followed the healer through a long corridor. The walls were painted a cheerful yellow color that matched the healerâs robes, but even its sunny shade couldnât mask the cold and sterile feeling of the hospital. Beside you, Theo tensed as you passed room after room of patients, his gaze lingering on the still bodies within.Â
You squeezed his hand, distracting him from his own memories. âItâs alright,â you murmured. âNonna is going to be alright, Teddy.âÂ
Theo tore his gaze away from a pale witch laying still on a stretcher, his expression shifting from worry to relief. He nodded in agreement and squeezed your hand back.Â
Just then, the elderly witch led you into a private room. She poked her head through the door, alerting nonna of your presence. âSerafina, thereâs visitors here to see you.âÂ
As she ushered you in, you couldnât help but notice how small and fragile nonna looked. To you, Serafina Conti had always been larger than life, but right now, you realized that even a strong woman like her wasnât invulnerable. Be that as it may, nonna haughtily sat up in her bed and crossed her arms as though she owned the place.Â
With a look of disapproval, she tutted at the both of you. âWhy are you here?â
âAldo sent a patronus,â Theo explained. âHe said you were in the hospital. We were worried sick!â
âYou know how your cousin loves his theatrics,â Nonna said with a nonchalant wave. âIâm perfectly fine.âÂ
âThey said they had to sedate you, that you had Forest Cough and you waited so long that it turned into a fever ââ
âThe healers are overzealous, as usual. All this fuss over a cough. Itâs ridiculous, really.âÂ
âStop treating it like a joke!â Theo snapped, his voice echoing off the walls. You had never heard him speak to his grandmother like this, which told you how truly upset he was about the entire situation. âI couldâve lost you, nonna. I canât â I canât go through that again.âÂ
Nonnaâs expression softened. She knew more than anyone how the loss of her daughter nearly broke Theo. âIâm alright, Theodore. I apologize for worrying you, but I promise that everything is fine.â Theoâs shoulders slumped, the tension easing from his body as his grandmother held his hand. âBesides, you canât get rid of me that easily. Whoâs going to help plan you and Y/Nâs wedding?âÂ
A choked sob broke free from your throat. You hadnât even realized that you were holding in tears until this moment. For the past hour, you were focused on doing whatever it took to get to Rome. Now that you were standing before nonna, the possibility of losing her crashed over you all at once.Â
You sniffled and wiped an errant tear away as she took your hand. âDonât cry, piccolina. Itâll take more than a silly little cough to take me out.âÂ
âWe were so worried,â you confessed. âWe just wanted to make sure you were okay.âÂ
âIâm alive and kicking,â she joked. In a softer tone, she said, âThank you for accompanying Theodore. As upset as I am that you both skipped the Yule Ball to be here, I am glad I got to see the two of you like this. You make a beautiful couple.âÂ
âNonna,â Theo groaned. âNow is really not the time.âÂ
Nonna rolled her eyes, ignoring her grandson. âSo, tell me. When did Theodore finally pluck up the courage to ask you to be his date?âÂ
Theo sighed, knowing that there was no stopping his grandmother. He busied himself with tidying up her surroundings, flinging the curtains open to reveal a stunning view of the city. Rome was a beauty to behold, its ancient streets thrumming with excitement even at this late hour. In the distance, you could make out the Sistine Chapel under the glittering stars.
âI was actually supposed to go with someone else.â Up until this point, you had completely forgotten all about Montague. You knew youâd have to deal with that when you returned, but he seemed rather insignificant given all that had occurred. âGraham Montague.âÂ
Nonna wrinkled her nose. The gesture told you all you needed to know about her opinion of him. âIf you were going with the Montague boy, then why are you and my grandson matching?âÂ
Your gaze flickered up to Theoâs baby blue vest and tie, which were both a perfect match to the color of your ball gown. âI donât know, actually. Teddy never saw my dress. I might have mentioned that I was wearing blue, but not the exact shade.âÂ
âThis is the shade of blue that you always say you look best in,â Theo explained. âItâs your favorite color. Everyone knows that.âÂ
âNobody knows that.âÂ
âWell, I know that.âÂ
Graham certainly hadnât. You had shown him the exact color, yet he still picked the wrong shade to wear. You thought that perhaps boys were just clueless when it came to this sort of thing. After all, blue was blue. But Theo knew. Of course he knew.
An amused smirk appeared on nonnaâs face as she watched the interaction. She was outright grinning when Theo busied himself with her pillows, fluffing them quite aggressively to hide the flush on his cheeks. You couldnât help but smile.Â
An hour later, Theoâs cousin Aldo finally arrived from Vallara. It had been a nightmare to journey to Rome, given that the floo station in the countryside closed earlier than most. Aldo had to travel to Amalfi by apparating, which took quite the toll on him. Regardless, he was glad to see that nonna was in stable condition.Â
The rest of Theoâs cousins piled into the small room, nearly causing a fire hazard from the sheer amount of people packed in such a tiny space. The two of you gave them time to fuss over nonna, happily changing into the extra clothes they had brought. The ball gown was a feat to remove, the tulle and silk nearly suffocating you as you tried to maneuver out of it in the bathroom stall. In the end, you prevailed. Despite the fact that Theoâs sweats and hoodie nearly swallowed you whole, you were thankful to be in comfier clothing.Â
After chatting with his cousins and ensuring that nonna would be properly cared for, the two of you said your goodbyes. You wished you could stay longer, but it was time to return to the castle. Under the silver moon, you and Theo walked through the empty streets, marveling at the beauty of Rome.Â
âI never got to tell you,â Theo said suddenly. âYou look beautiful tonight.âÂ
âLooked,â you corrected. âNo offense, but my dress was a little more fashionable than this outfit.âÂ
âYou could wear a plastic bag and Iâd still think that youâre beautiful, bella.âÂ
You flushed at the compliment, hiding its effect behind a curtain of hair. âThank you, Teddy.âÂ
âNo, thank you. I couldnât have gotten through all of that without you.â Theo took your hand, twirling the emerald ring on your finger with a small smile. âIâm sorry that I messed things up for you with Montague.âÂ
âDonât lie, Teddy. Youâre not sorry.âÂ
Theo smiled sheepishly. âYouâre right. Iâm not.âÂ
âItâs alright. It probably wouldnât have worked out between us anyways.âÂ
âWhy do you say that?âÂ
âI donât think he really knew me,â you mused. âHe couldnât even remember my favorite color.âÂ
âWhat an idiot,â teased Theo. âStill, you must be bummed about missing the ball. I know you were looking forward to it.âÂ
âThere will be other balls,â you responded. âThis was more important.âÂ
Theo lifted your hand and brushed his lips against your knuckles. âIâm really glad youâre here with me, bella.âÂ
âMe too, Teddy,â you whispered softly. âMe too.âÂ

Day Four, The Clay Cliffs
Laughter emanated from your phone while you recounted the events of the past few days to your parents. When you described the trip to the Temple of Cupid, your mum teared up as your dad comforted her in the back garden. The two of them were having afternoon tea when you called, which was the perfect time to chat and catch up.Â
Attempting to lighten the mood, your dad peered into the screen. âIs that the infamous convertible?âÂ
You grinned and panned around the baby blue car, which you were currently lounging in as you waited for the rest of your friends to arrive. Theo insisted on driving up the Clay Cliffs, while Pansy and the boys rented bikes to take the more scenic route. You had absolutely no desire to struggle up the cliffside, so you opted to accompany your best friend instead.Â
As if on cue, Theo bounded back into the car after begrudgingly helping a group of tourists with directions. âHi Laurel! Hi Alistair!ââÂ
Your parents waved as Theo slipped into the driver seat. He grinned into the camera before snatching your favorite heart shaped sunglasses off your head and placing them over his eyes. âHi, Theo. Congratulations on the car. Sheâs a beauty!â
âTheo hasnât hit a single curb our whole trip. The driving lessons finally paid off, dad.âÂ
âIâm proud of you, son.âÂ
Beside you, Theo flushed and shyly thanked your dad. Shifting in his seat, he grabbed the phone from your hand and squeezed himself into frame. No matter how many times you explained the technology of video calls to him, Theo still wasnât convinced that it wasnât a form of magic.Â
âThe garden looks great, Alistair.â Theo lowered his sunglasses and squinted at the screen. âThe cherry tree looks like itâs blooming.âÂ
You furrowed your brow. âWhen did you add a cherry tree?âÂ
âThe start of summer,â your dad answered. âTheo helped me plant it before he left for Vallara.âÂ
âHe also cooked us a fantastic dinner,â your mum added. She looked wistful, probably fantasizing about your best friendâs cooking. âI still dream about that carbonara.âÂ
âI promise to cook it for you the next time I visit.âÂ
âSpeaking of which,â your dad interjected. âAre we still on for Sunday tea when youâre back in town?âÂ
âOf course,â Theo assured. âI wouldnât miss it for the world.âÂ
âYou guys are having tea without me?â you asked incredulously.Â
Your mum nodded. âWell, we have to do something to fill our time while our little girl is off at Oxford.âÂ
Theo nudged you, smiling. âDonât worry, bella. Now that I have my car, I can come and kidnap you during the weekends.âÂ
You beamed. âThanks, Teddy.âÂ
Just then, you heard bells ringing through the clearing. The rest of your friends had finally caught up, racing up the narrow trail in colorful bikes.Â
Mattheo honked his horn, the wind plastering his curls to his cheek as he pedaled uphill. âCome on lovebirds, itâs time. Last one to dive off the cliff owes the group a round tonight!âÂ
Your mum let out a surprised squeak. âPlease tell me youâre not jumping headfirst off a cliff.âÂ
âI would, but then Iâd be lying.âÂ
âY/N Y/L/N!âÂ
âHm, what was that, mum? I think youâre breaking up.âÂ
Theo snickered as your mum began to lecture the two of you. Fortunately, your dad talked her down before she could continue her rant. âBye, sweetheart, have fun! You too, son. Take care of our little girl. Love you both.âÂ
Your best friend waved at your parents, a grin present on his face. âAlways! Love you, miss you. See you soon!âÂ
âLove you mum and dad. Talk to you later!.Â
After bidding your parents goodbye, you and Theo made your way up to the top of the Clay Cliffs. At the peak, Mattheo waved you towards the cliffâs edge. Cautiously, you made your way over to where the rest of the boys stood. The four of them were busy placing bets on who could do the most flips before landing.Â
Pansy rolled her eyes. âJust make sure you donât break your neck. It would put a damper on my holiday.âÂ
âMy moneyâs on you,â you stated as you draped an arm over her shoulder. You donât know why the boys bothered. Pansy was by far the most athletic out of all of you.Â
âAre you making the jump this year?âÂ
Your stomach flipped as you peered over the cliffside. The drop was at least fifty feet, which was intimidating enough without your paralyzing fear of heights. Still, you were determined to face this phobia of yours once and for all. You didnât know when youâd get another chance to share this moment with your favorite people. Despite your determination, it didnât make the task less daunting.Â
Steeling yourself, you nodded. âYes. It would be a shame to come all this way and not do it.âÂ
Pansy smiled and squeezed your hand. âYouâve got this, babe.âÂ
The support gave you a little boost of confidence, especially after the boys assured you that theyâd all be waiting at the bottom and cheering you on. You watched in anticipation as Blaise and Draco went first, their dives perfectly synchronized as they flipped two times in the air before slicing through the water.Â
âShowoffs,â Mattheo muttered as he kicked off his shoes. He squinted at the waves below, no doubt calculating if he can beat Blaise and Draco.Â
âYouâve got this, Matt,â you encouraged. âYouâre by far the most obnoxious competitive person I know. Show them how itâs done.âÂ
âThanks, I think?â Mattheo responded with an amused chuckle. He raised a brow as a mischievous grin tugged at his lips. âMind giving me a good luck kiss?âÂ
âI will kick you off this damn cliff,â Theo threatened.
With a smirk, Mattheo saluted the two of you before joining your friends below. Just as you predicted, he executed three flips on the way down. Enzo went shortly after and tied with Mattheo, much to the latterâs annoyance. Pansy gracefully followed with a series of four flips that had you cheering and whistling.Â
Finally, it was your turn. You slowly peeled your dress off and carefully arranged it next to everyone elseâs clothes. Theo tugged his shirt off before flinging it in the same general direction. You shook your head as you folded it up for him, rolling your eyes fondly while he apologized with a sheepish grin.Â
Those familiar watercolor eyes snagged on your blue dotted bikini, the heat of his gaze sending shivers down your spine. You couldnât help but return the favor, cheeks heating as you shamelessly scanned Theoâs toned chest and chiseled abs. When he was younger, Theo often complained about his lanky build, but you liked how tall and lean he was. Heâd certainly grown into it now. As if those mesmerizing eyes and sex tousled waves and impish grin wasnât enough, Theo also had to be funny and kind and sweet.Â
Truly, it was unfair to the rest of the world.Â
âAre you nervous, bella?âÂ
You shook off your daydreams and returned to reality. âA little.â You made the mistake of looking down at the waves below. From this point of view, everything seemed that much more terrifying. âIs it silly that Iâm scared?âÂ
Theo gently grabbed your hand, prying you away from anxiously twisting your emerald ring. âI donât think itâs silly at all,â he replied. âItâs normal to feel scared.âÂ
âBut youâre not scared of anything.âÂ
Your best friend chuckled. âAre you kidding? Iâm scared of everything, all the time. I just act like Iâm not.âÂ
âReally?âÂ
Theo nodded. âDo you remember the first time I met the guys?âÂ
âAt Malfoy Manor, right? When we were eight.âÂ
âI was so scared that they wouldnât like me, that they wouldnât understand my accent, but mostly I was scared that youâd figure out that they were funnier and smarter and cooler than I was and Iâd lose my best friend.âÂ
Your expression softened. âYou could never lose me, Teddy.âÂ
âI know that now,â Theo said with a smile. âBut back then, I was terrified. Until you told me that we were a package deal. That if they didnât like me, then you didnât like them either because we came as a pair. You couldnât have one without the other.âÂ
âI was only stating the obvious.âÂ
âMaybe, but you donât know what that meant to me. Besides mum, no one has ever stood up for me like that. I remember you threatening to push Flint into the garden fountain when he said I sounded funny even though he was older and bigger than the both of us combined.âÂ
The memory made you chuckle. âIf only I had that courage now.âÂ
âYou do,â Theo assured you. âMy point is, youâre the bravest person I know. Iâm never scared when Iâm with you.âÂ
âYouâve never told me that before,â you said softly, sniffling a little. You couldnât help it. Theo knew exactly what to say to put your mind at ease.Â
âI was saving it for the view,â Theo replied cheekily. âIt really gives it that theatrical effect.âÂ
Though you could still feel your heart beating against your ribcage, your anxiety lessened. You squeezed Theoâs hand, mostly to remind yourself that he was here with you. His presence always grounded you.Â
âWill you jump with me?â you asked shyly.Â
Theoâs smile was like a shot of espresso, warm and soothing as it surged through your nervous system like caffeine. You could see why people said that coffee was as addictive as the next hard drug, because you were pretty sure that youâd chase this high for the rest of your life.Â
Your heart soared as he squeezed your hand back. âOf course, fragolina,â he declared proudly. âIâd be offended if you didnât pick me to do something so stupid and reckless with.âÂ
âYouâre quite right. The most stupid and reckless things Iâve ever done in my life have included you in some way or another.âÂ
Theo grinned and kissed the back of your knuckles. âYouâre stalling.âÂ
âMaybe a little bit.âÂ
âWeâll do it together,â he said. âLike everything in life. On the count of three, we jump, okay?âÂ
âOkay.âÂ
âOneâŚtwoâŚâ
âWait, jump on three or after three?âÂ
âNow!âÂ
With a scream, you and Theo broke out into a sprint and leapt off the cliffside. Your stomach turned inside out and upside down while your heart galloped in your chest. The adrenaline kicked in as you plunged through the water, the waves splashing all around you as you kicked back up to the surface.Â
It was scary, it was exhilarating, but most of all, it was reassuring because when you broke free, Theo was still holding your hand.

Later that night, you found yourself ducking into the mouth of a cave. Behind you, the boys grumbled as they crouched, nearly hitting their heads on the jagged rocks. Draco mumbled something about sullying his expensive silk button down, while Enzo mocked his cousin with an overly snooty accent.Â
âAre you sure this is the right place?â Blaise asked warily.Â
âHave I ever steered you wrong, Zabini?âÂ
âDo you want me to answer honestly?âÂ
To be fair, you couldnât exactly blame Blaise for doubting your best friend. Theo promised to bring you and your friends to the hottest party in town only to lead you into the heart of a cave.Â
Theo rolled his eyes. âJust a little more,â he urged. âThen youâll see that Theodore Nott always delivers. Isnât that right, bella?âÂ
You scoffed. âWell, Theodore Nott needs to deliver a little faster, because my feet are absolutely killing me. Had I known we were going spelunking, I wouldâve opted out of heels.âÂ
âI second that,â Pansy huffed in annoyance. âIâm honestly considering throwing my stiletto at your head, Nott.âÂ
âKeep your shoes to yourself, ladies,â Theo warned as he led you further into the cave.Â
In the distance, you could hear the muffled sound of music and the thump of the bass echoing through the rock. You gaped as the crowd came into view. Lights flashed along the cavern, pulsing to the beat of the music. The inside of the cave looked like a club, complete with a DJ, a fully stocked bar, and a makeshift dance floor.Â
âHow did you even know about this?â Draco asked.Â
âI was invited by a local,â Theo responded slyly. âSpeaking of which, hereâs our host now.âÂ
The local was none other than Dante, who was now strolling up to your group with a tray full of limoncello. You watched in confusion as Theo exchanged cheek kisses with Dante as though they were old friends.Â
âWell, this is a pleasant surprise,â Pansy greeted.Â
âIndeed,â Dante agreed. âI must admit, I was surprised when Theo called me up after your visit to the vineyard. I got the feeling that he wasnât too fond of me.âÂ
âWhat would ever make you think that?â quipped your best friend.Â
Dante chuckled. âAfter he proposed a fresh start, I couldnât help but agree. Besides, there is no way Iâd pass up the chance to show you the hottest party in town. Welcome to Vallaraâs most exclusive club, my friends.âÂ
âWow,â Mattheo exclaimed. âThis is sick.âÂ
Enzo nodded in agreement. âIs that a body paint station? Did that girl just take off her top â where are you going, Mattheo? Hey, wait for me!âÂ
You chuckled as the two boys hustled to the other side of the room. Theo rolled his eyes and apologized for their behavior, but Dante merely waved it off before passing out the limoncello.Â
âTo new friends,â Theo proposed.Â
Dante clinked his glass with his. âTo new friends!âÂ
The limoncello was dangerously sweet and smooth, its tart aftertaste causing your face to pucker. The drinks flowed after that as Dante introduced your group of friends to the crowd. For the most part, everyone in attendance was a local, which made you feel honored to be welcomed into their midst.Â
As always, Theo was a natural at working the crowd. Your best friend seemed to have taken your advice to heart, because he and Dante were currently laughing and chatting with yesterdayâs not-so-great first impression clearly forgotten. From the glimpses you stole from the dance floor, Theo was currently trying to play wingman, talking Dante up to a very handsome local. He took the job quite seriously, politely declining any attention thrown his way.Â
âHow is it fair that Nott is turning girls away while none of them will even look at me?â complained Mattheo.Â
âItâs because you reek of desperation.â Draco responded honestly, brushing off a nonexistent piece of lint from his shirt.Â
âAnd he doesnât?â Mattheo exclaimed. âTheoâs been following Y/N around like a lost puppy all summer. Hell, all his life.âÂ
âThatâs not desperation, you dolt,â Pansy scoffed. âThatâs love.âÂ
You rolled your eyes. âTheoâs not in love with ââ The protest died in your throat as Theo caught your eye from across the room. His face lit up when he spotted you like you were the beacon heâd been searching for in the dark.Â
Mattheo ignored your comment entirely. âSo if I fall in love, girls will flock to me?âÂ
Draco shook his head. âThatâs not the point. When you fall in love, no one else matters. You canât even see anyone but them. You just know deep down inside that youâve found your person.âÂ
âY/N.â You startled as Theo hugged you from behind, resting his chin on your shoulder.Â
âWhat?â asked Mattheo.
âMy person,â Theo clarified. âItâs Y/N. Thatâs what Draco was talking about, right?âÂ
Draco smirked. âTold you, Riddle.âÂ
The shit eating grins remained on your friendâs faces even during the walk home from the cave. It didnât help that Theo insisted on giving you a piggyback ride through the cobblestone streets after one too many complaints about your aching feet. As he set you down on the bathroom counter, Theo shook his head.Â
âI will never understand why you choose to punish yourself this way, bella.â
You shrugged, watching as your best friend removed the death traps from your feet. âBeauty is pain, Teddy.âÂ
âMust be why Iâm always aching,â Theo remarked with a dramatic sigh. âPretty hurts.âÂ
You snorted as you jumped off the counter and began your ten step skincare routine. Theo traded places with you, swinging his long legs while he handed you product after product. He grinned like a little kid when you swiped toner, moisturizer, and serum onto his face. Not that he needed it. Irritatingly enough, his skin was clear as day without the aid of expensive products.Â
After you finished brushing your teeth together, the two of you changed into pajamas and settled for the night. You buried yourself in bed, sighing at the cold sheets and fluffy pillows. Theo made his way over to the love seat that heâd been sleeping on for the past few nights, but it was gone. Nowhere to be found. He stared at the empty spot in complete bafflement.Â
âIs the couchâŚâ
âYup.âÂ
âCompletely gone?âÂ
âMhm."
âDisappeared off the face of the earth.âÂ
âSeems like it.âÂ
âOh god,â you groaned. âIâm sorry, Teddy. I have a feeling this is Pansyâs doing. Sheâs been scheming all summer. First the honeymoon suite and then this.âÂ
âItâs okay, fragolina,â Theo assured you. âI can just sleep on the living room couch.â
You shook your head vehemently. âYou shouldnât have to sleep on the couch.âÂ
âIâm fine, bella.âÂ
âTheo,â you whisper, your voice disrupting the blissful bubble of silence. âI donât want you to sleep on the couch.âÂ
Realization flooded Theoâs features. He smiled softly, shy and sweet as he made his way over to you. Making room for him, you threw the blankets back and watched as he crawled into bed beside you. Theo settled on his side, his head resting on the pillow as he faced you.Â
You mirrored his action, suddenly feeling vulnerable as those piercing blue eyes flitted over you. âHi.âÂ
Theo grinned. âHi.âÂ
The two of you stared at each other for a moment. The serene sounds of the countryside lapped all around you; the gentle breeze swaying gently through the open window, the soothing lull of the waves kissing the shore, all of it syncing with the rhythmic beating of your heart.Â
The moonlight streamed into the room in glittering strips of silver, its light bathing Theo in its ethereal glow. His fluffy hair, his boyish grin, his sleepy eyes. You had never seen anything more beautiful and breathtaking in your life.Â
âYouâre my person, too.âÂ
The smile on his face wouldâve put the stars to shame. The gravity of it was magnetizing, drawing you in like an inevitable force.Â
âDo you know that youâre my favorite person in this entire world?âÂ
âI had a feeling,â Theo teased. You scoffed and rolled your eyes, preparing a sarcastic response, but you stopped short when he leaned closer. His knuckles brushed against your cheek. âIâd say the same, but it seems like an understatement to call you my favorite person in the world when you are my world.âÂ
âTeddyâŚâ
âToo cheesy?â he asked with a boyish grin.Â
âNo, itâs perfect.â You took his face in your hands, cataloging every freckle and mole as though everything about him wasnât already seared into your mind. âYouâre perfect.âÂ
You didnât know who moved first. It mightâve been him, it mightâve been you, but at the end of the day, all that mattered was that his lips were on yours. As Theo kissed you, you realized then that youâd never truly known what it meant to hunger, to crave â not truly. Not like this.Â
The kiss itself was soft and gentle and sweet, but it was also all-consuming. The pressure of his lips against yours brought you relief. It was the breaking of clouds, the pattering of rain, the downpour after an endless drought.Â
Your fingers slipped through his silky locks as Theo tugged you closer, his hands snaking around you in a tight embrace as though he was afraid you might disappear. You wanted to tell him that you werenât going anywhere. You couldnât even if you tried, but you were too drunk on him â his scent, his touch, his kisses.Â
This, you thought, was exactly what you were made for.Â
Theo pulled away, his gaze tender as it flickered over your face. You touched your fingers to your lips, already missing the absence of his kisses.Â
âIâve been waiting for that all my life,â Theo whispered in awe.
âI had a feeling,â you teased back.
âI like when youâre cheeky,â Theo chuckled, burying his face in your neck. He placed a kiss under your jaw. âAnd I like how soft your skin is.â Another kiss on your cheek. âI like how red and flushed you get when I compliment you.âÂ
Theo pressed his lips against yours Once, twice, three times. Just because he could. Just because he wanted to savor the taste of your cherry chapstick, to swallow the soft little sigh that escaped your mouth every time he kissed you, to acclimate himself to the new reality of getting to snog his best friend whenever and wherever he wanted.Â
âI just really like you.âÂ
You smiled into the kiss. âI really like you too, Teddy.âÂ
The confession was the tip of the iceberg of how you felt for him, but it would do for now. As Theo held you in his arms, you listened to the rhythmic pulse echoing in your chest.Â
Your heart thumped to the beat of his name. Theo, Theo, Theo.Â
It always had and it always will.

yeah absolutely! and thank you so much, that's so sweet of you to say <3
Green With Envy (Love Quinn x fem reader)
Warnings: mild swearing, jealousy, slight possessiveness
Love was fuming as she watched you help out a customer in Anavrin, where you both worked. You were just being polite, she knew that, but she still found herself getting upset. Especially when said customer placed his hand on your arm and moved in closer. A little too close, in her opinion.
"Yo, sis, what's up? Why do you look like me when we're out of gluten free bread?" Forty questioned suddenly, seeming to have popped up from out of nowhere.
"Nothing's up. I'm fine," she lied through her teeth, watching as the guy next to you got closer and closer still. Now his hand was on the small of your back, something that you obviously didn't look comfortable with. Your eyes flickered around the store before landing on where she stood at the cash register, two words discernible in them: help me.
"God damn it," she swore underneath her breath as she pushed past Forty and started to make her way over. "Watch the cash register for me," she commanded without giving him so much as a second glance, stalking across the store over to where you were.
Taking a deep breath, she put on her best customer service smile so she'd looking friendly instead of threatening (like she really wanted to) and casually sidled up beside you. "Hey! Is there anything I can help you with?"
Despite her polite words, her actions told a much different story. Her hand went to the small of your back, smacking the guy's hand away before wrapping her arm around your waist and tugging you against her. If there was one thing Love Quinn didn't do, it was subtle.
The guy grumbled something under his breath about never coming back as he turned and slunk away, clearly displeased by the interruption. "Thank you," you said before giving her an appreciative kiss on the cheek.
"Of course, sweetie. Let me know if another customer gives you a hard time, okay?" She pulled you in for a hug before reluctantly heading back to the register where Forty still was. Before he could open his mouth, however, she spoke first. "I want you to watch them and make sure nobody ever bothers them again, do you understand me?"
She rarely gave him any direct orders. Most of the time when she wanted him to do something for her it was concealed as a harmless suggestion so he'd think he came up with the idea himself. But right now she was far too upset to worry about mincing her words.
"You got it, sis. No problem." He gave her a light pat on the shoulder before heading off in your direction, to pitch another one of his crappy screenplay ideas no doubt.
Over the next week or so, her plan worked perfectly. Forty hung around you so often that most customers left you alone, and that included the ones who were only trying to cop a feel before asking for your number. The only customers who did come up to you were ones that actually needed help with something.
It backfired, however, when you started hanging out with her brother more than you were with her. Apparently you had a brain that was perfect for plucking ripe, juicy ideas from (Forty's words) and because of that he spent a lot of his free time brainstorming with you, which took time away that you and her could be spending together.
She tried not to get jealous, she really did. It was nice that Forty had someone who actually cared about him to help with his screenplays, someone who she knew wouldn't do anything to threaten or jeopardize his sobriety, but still. You were supposed to be her girlfriend, not his.
The final straw came when Forty tried to get you to cancel your date night, one that you'd had planned for weeks in advance. Love adored her brother, but that was taking it a bit too far.
"You need to stop hanging out with him," she said to you one afternoon a day or so later as she was chopping up veggies to put in a stir-fry she was making. "My brother, I mean," she added once she saw the slight look of confusion on your face. "It's nice that he finally has someone other than me to go to, but he's taking all of our time together away from us."
It wasn't hard to tell she was jealous from the way she was gripping the knife so tightly. You'd be afraid if you didn't know her well enough to know she'd never do anything to hurt you.
"Hey, hey." You made your way over to her, wrapping your arms around her from behind as you rested your chin on her shoulder. "I get it. You're feeling a little left out, right? I can start hanging out with him less, it's fine. I just know how much he means to you and didn't want to brush him off if it was going to hurt his feelings."
She melted into your embrace, turning her head slightly so she could look at you. Everything about you was perfect, even more so than she initially thought. Not everyone was so understanding when it came to the codependent relationship she had with her brother, but you were, and it only made her love you that much more.
"Thank you. I love you," she muttered while leaning in to give you a tender kiss as a way of her showing her thanks to you.
You smiled at her words, kissing her back before replying with a soft, "I love you, too. Just try not to get so green with envy next time. It was hard to tell the difference between you and the green juice you sell at Anavrin."
She rolled her eyes and scoffed at the comparison, but you didn't miss the amused look she had on her face. "Alright, dork. Leave me alone so I can finish getting this ready."
"If you say so." You pressed another kiss to her cheek before letting go of her, though you were stopped when she reached out to gently grab you by the arm.
"Hey. It really means a lot to me that you care so much about both me and my brother. So, thank you for that." She was absolutely serious when she spoke, any hint of playfulness from earlier gone.
"There's nothing to thank me for," you insisted with a caring gaze. "I'd do anything for you, Love. Including being the occasional babysitter for your slightly unstable twin brother."
That made her laugh, and she pulled you back in for another kiss, one that lasted longer than the one before it. She could tell you really meant it, every single word, and that was more important to her than anything.

greener grass | luke castellan
i recommend reading bleedin me dry before this as this is the au to that!
summary: what if you left with luke that day in the woods?
a/n: would just like to give a HUGE thank you for the massive amount of support on my luke fic!! and another huge thank you to all you angst demons because why do you want more of it. i mean i get it but why. anyways hereâs a different path of actually accepting lukeâs offer like so many of you said you would instantly fold lmao i hope you enjoy
wc: 3.2k
warning(s): fem!daughter of demeter reader. luke is his own warning. kind of unhealthy relationship, weird vibes all around
The stars were brighter than ever tonight.Â
It was one of the first things that stuck out to you when you got to camp, and it was one of the first things that you noticed when you first got on the road with Luke.Â
Youâd always loved the stars. They were a rare sight coming from the city, such a sign of nature and purity that it honestly shouldnât have been a surprise when you were claimed. You still remembered the shock that went through you when you first saw what a night sky free of pollution could be, and you still remembered the first time you risked your life with the harpies just to spend the night star-gazing.Â
And you could never forget the first time you dragged Luke along with you, his wry protests falling on deaf ears though he grinned the entire way down to the beach, his hand laced in yours. Â
Gods.Â
Luke.Â
Even the thought of him these days was enough to make your heart clench, a slight shiver run down your spine, and you werenât fully sure as to why.Â
You loved him. You ran away with him. Every path that led you here, you willingly chose to walk down.Â
But you still questioned every second of every godsdamned day if they were the right decisions. Especially now, as you sat alone in front of the fire, carefully stoking it with one of the few dry sticks youâd been able to find after taking shelterâin your own haphazard tent made of vines and tree trunks and any other bits of nature youâd managed to sprout from the ground with your powersâto wait out a rainstorm.Â
You decided to spend the night, deciding that traveling through the darkness was too risky after the last monster attack, but the minutes couldnât have been creeping by slower. If being in nature didnât quite literally fuel you, you knew you would be far more miserable than you already were.
You loved Luke with all your heart, and if he was willing to potentially throw off his entire plan just so he could bring you with him, then he had to love you the same. You owed him this, at least, to not abandon him.Â
Youâ you didnât want to serve Kronos, but you didnât want to serve the gods, either. Your mother abandoned you before you were old enough to know what the word meant, leaving you on your fatherâs doorstep swaddled in blankets and with a note that he still had to this day.Â
Demeter left your father to raise you on his own, left you to live the half-life of a half-blood, and hardly paid attention to you since. She didnât help you when you were on the road to camp with your satyr, wondering if every bump in the night would be your end, and she let you feel worthless for an entire year before she finally decided you were deserving of her claim.
Or maybe she just finally remembered you existed.Â
You understood Lukeâs angerâyou felt it yourself more than you liked to admitâbut the path he was on was a dangerous one. You doubted you could take him off of it, but you could keep him safe, and you could prevent more damage. That was all you cared about at this point.Â
How long you could walk this line was an entirely different question.Â
You sensed him before you heard him even lost in your thoughts, but the snapping of twigs still made your breath catch for a moment. You kept your gaze on the fire as you spoke.Â
âAnything?âÂ
âThese woods are surprisingly bare for the time of year,â Luke said as he set his backpack on the ground, kneeling down to rifle through it. âI feel like Artemis is punishing me.âÂ
âWell, she doesnât exactly have a reason to help you,â you said wryly. You gestured with your head towards the miniature orchard youâd been making at each one of your campsâone pro of your parentage was that youâhopefullyâwouldnât ever starve on the road. Youâd been growing plants since you realized you could, so it was practically second nature at this point. âFruitâs on the menu, if youâre interested.âÂ
Luke chuckled as he walked over, and as he plucked a perfectly ripe strawberry, he glanced at you. âFeeling nostalgic?âÂ
You shrugged. You wondered which of your siblings would be in charge of the strawberries with you gone. You hoped Mr. D wouldnât give it to one of his kids. âDo you blame me?âÂ
âNot at all.â He popped it into his mouth then took an apple from the smallest tree youâd been able to grow. âIt was home for us both, for a while.âÂ
You bit your lip. It still was your homeâit had been for the past four years. You wanted to go back eventually, but you felt like you had sealed your coffin by going with Luke. Would they ever welcome you back, knowing you willingly followed him into the darkness?
âHow long do you think weâll be on the road?â you asked, finally looking over at him as he sat down across from you. âNot that I donât enjoy being with you, but⌠itâs not exactly the safest.â
âAt least another week or two,â Luke said. You tried your hardest to keep your expression even as he settled the full force of his gaze on youâyou couldnât deal with the scrutiny. âI need to make sure theyâve lost our trail. The last thing we need is a questing group on our asses.â
You huffed a laugh. âYou think theyâll actually send anyone after us?â
Luke shrugged. âIf all went well, camp is in total disarray. If it didnât, they still know Iâm with Kronos. I canât imagine Chiron would take that lightly. And,â he inclined his head, âI did kidnap you.â
You scoffed. âYou didnât kidnap me.â
âTheyâll probably think so,â he said, and there was something strange in his eyes. âDoesnât make sense for you to come with me willingly.â
This again. âLukeââ
âI know,â he said, a slight smile on his lips. There wasnât much heart in it. âYou donât have to explain yourself again.â
âI just donât want you to think Iâm not with you,â you said. âIâ I am. Iâm only here for you, Luke.â
His eyes softened. âYou mean it?â
âI do,â you nodded. âI couldnât just leave you.â
âI donât take any of this lightly, you know.â His eyes never wavered from yours, the orange light flickering across his face and casting a devilish shadow. âYou being here means the world. Nothingâs gonna happen to youâIâll make sure of it.â
âIâm not just gonna lay you out to dry, either,â you said wryly. âWeâll protect each other. Like we always have.â
âExactly,â Luke affirmed. He bit into the apple heâd seemingly forgot about, and you looked up at the sky in the resulting silence.
It felt like your mind always drifted back to camp, back to your siblings and friends and the victims of Lukeâs crusade.
Your summer siblings who would come back next year and wonder where you went, your year-rounders waking up the next morning and all the mornings after with a discontented glance at your bed.Â
How long would it take for them to forget you? For you to just be another lost demigod in the camp files?
And poor Annabeth Chase. Luke practically raised her, and he walked out on her without a wordâyou considered yourself lucky he didnât do the same to you, and you had no idea what awaited you on your path together.Â
The gods had never been one for listening, and certainly not to you, but you hoped at least one of them would look down on you. Maybe your mother could provide some of that wizened second child advice, shine her favor on you for the first time in your life.
Well. You doubted Demeter would very much appreciate your quasi-support of the titan that ate her. The thing you should have considered yourself lucky for was that your powers still worked.Â
Luke brought you back to Earth by saying your name, and your gaze snapped back down to meet his. His scar seemed especially grisly in the firelight, at odds with the softness of his expressionâsomething that felt all too rare these days.Â
âWhatâs on your mind?â he asked.Â
âWhat else could possibly be on it?â you asked wryly, tossing the stick youâd been fiddling with into the fire. It crackled as the flames devoured it, something so out of its realm thrust into it anyways.Â
âStupid question,â he admitted.Â
âWeâre practically fugitives, Luke,â you said. âWe have monsters after us, and possibly people from camp. We left everyone behind. Iâm with you, trust me, butâ but I canât just get over it all as easily as you.â
âAnd I get that,â he said. âThisââ he sighed and shook his headâ âyou really donât know how much you being here means to me. I thought I was going to be out on my own on all this.â
Your throat bobbed. Youâd never tell him, but you didnât even know what your answer was going to be until the words left your mouth.
âAnd youâre telling me that youâd still choose them over me?â
âNo,â you said. âI wouldnât.â
Lukeâs eyes softened and your throat felt like it was closing up.
âThen come with me,â he whispered. âWe will change the world together.â
âI canât,â you asserted. âI canât just leave everyone behindâ Iâd be leaving my entire life behind, Luke!â
âYouâll help them more this way,â Luke insisted. âThe gods arenât on our sideâweâre here so they donât have to pay attention to us. If we want anything to change for the better, weâre gonna have to do it ourselves.âÂ
You bit your lip, and he brushed a strand of hair out of your face.Â
âI wouldnât ask you this if I didnât think you were right for it,â he murmured, tilting his head as he gazed into your eyes. âYour motherâs never bothered to see you before. Iâm gonna make her see you.âÂ
âHow?â you asked, hating the hints of desperation coloring your voice.Â
âYouâll see,â he said. âBut weâre gonna do something so big that no oneâs going to be able to ignore us.âÂ
Memories of the past four years flashed through your mind, but the two at the forefront were ones with Luke and ones without your mother.Â
Heâd always been there for you, even when Demeterâespecially when she wasnât.
You couldnât just leave him on his own. Not when he was baring his soul to youânot when his quest for greatness included it for you too.Â
Not when he was the first boy you ever loved, the one who brought you back from the god-induced edge.Â
ââŚOkay,â you said, the word feeling like an ultimatum the moment it left your lips. âOkay. Iâll go with you.âÂ
He stared at you for a second like he didnât hear you, or rather like he didnât actually believe it. And then he broke out into a grin.Â
âReally?âÂ
âYes, really,â you said. âHave I ever lied to you?âÂ
âGo to your cabin and pack your bags,â Luke said, still unable to control his exuberant expression. Weâll meet each other at the top of the hill.âÂ
âRight now?âÂ
Luke nodded. âOnly a couple hours until weâre harpy feed. Everyoneâll think weâre just leaving for the school year.âÂ
âYouâve always been a year-rounder,â you said. âWonât peopleââÂ
âIt doesnât matter,â he said. âNo oneâll think anything of it. We just have to get out before anyone asks any questions.âÂ
âLuke,â you murmured, âare youââÂ
Luke cut you off with a blazing kiss, the same kind of fire in his eyes when he pulled away, a slight smile on his lips at leaving you breathless.Â
âIâm sure,â he whispered. âYouâre not going to regret this. I promise.âÂ
It was all you could do to stare up at him, his grip on your arms the only thing keeping you upright for a solid moment.Â
âGo,â he said. âTake your timeâdonât draw any suspicion. Iâll meet you there.â
âYouâre really sure?â you asked, finally able to form words. âReally really sure? About this, aâ and me?âÂ
He cupped your cheek, tracing his thumb along your jaw. âIâve never been more sure of anything in my life than I am about you.âÂ
Leaving camp was insaneâwhen Luke told you of Kronosâs plans, it was even more insaneâbut it had always been you and Luke. Heâd been such a huge part of your life, ever since you first came to camp, that you couldnât imagine yourself without him.Â
And when you looked back at him, illuminated by the fire, you were sure of at least one thing.Â
You werenât leaving any time soon. Not when you could still fix all of this.Â
A yawn got the better of you, and you felt Lukeâs eyes on you as you covered your mouth with a fist.Â
âYou should get to sleep,â he said. âItâs been a long day.âÂ
âItâs been a long day for both of us,â you said. âWe both had to get hereâand you were the one who wandered around in the woods for two hours trying to hunt.âÂ
âHow do you know I wandered?â Luke asked, setting the apple core down on the ground next to him. âYou werenât there. Maybe I had a very respectable saunter and just came up with nothing.âÂ
You chuckled. âThe trees speak to me.âÂ
âReally?â he asked, clearly amused. âAnd what did they say?âÂ
âThat youâre an awful hunter,â you mused, âand you should be very thankful that your girlfriend is good at everything.âÂ
Luke smirked and got up to start walking towards you. âYour ever-knowledgeable trees should know that I already know.â He kneeled down in front of you, a slight smile curling on your lips. âAnd that I am very thankful.âÂ
He pressed a heated kiss to your lips, and you reciprocated, looping an arm around him to keep him close before you pulled away.Â
âItâs always good to hear it,â you murmured.Â
âIâll say it as many times as you need,â he assured. Luke stole another kiss then gestured towards your makeshift tent. âBut you do need to get some sleep. Weâre picking up at first light.âÂ
Your smile wavered. âWeâve been moving break-neck for a week already. Are you sure we canât ease up?âÂ
âSoon,â Luke promised. âI told you, I just want to make sure weâve lost any tails. We canât afford that right now.âÂ
He must have seen the change in your expression, because his eyes softened and he took your hand. âIt wonât be like this forever, babe. You can handle it.âÂ
âIt doesnât mean I want to,â you said dryly, but you sighed as you squeezed his hand. âIâll turn in if you do too.âÂ
âAnything for you,â Luke said with a smile. You chuckled and shook your head as you stood up, and Luke grabbed his backpack before he went over to the tent with you.Â
Your meager belongings werenât much. Youâd stuffed all the demigod essentials, some outfits, and a sleeping bag in your pack before hightailing it to Thaliaâs tree, and Luke hadnât packed much moreâbut at least it was light traveling.Â
Every night had been spent in the same way, sharing your sleeping bag as you got what precious sleep Luke allocated before you were back on the road again. You were sure the only thing that got you through each early rising was his soft touches and easy murmured words.Â
You laid down, staring up at the roof of brambles and bark, and you twisted your hand just so to make them twist away from each other for a small opening.Â
Luke raised an eyebrow at you as he zipped his bag up, still crouched on the ground. âWhatâs that for?âÂ
You shrugged. âIâve always liked sleeping under the stars.âÂ
Again, that small smile. It could still make you melt, even now. âI remember. I just hope it doesnât start raining again.âÂ
âLike rainâll be the worst thing weâve dealt with,â you said wryly. âBesides, I can feel it in the air. Weâre gonna be fine.â
âYeah,â he said. âWe are.âÂ
You glanced over and he was looking at you. You patted the spot next to you.Â
âCâmon,â you said. âIâm cold.âÂ
âOh, we canât have that,â he said, amused, and he huddled in next to you. You let out a contented sigh as his body heat sunk into you, and he draped an arm across you to pull you closer.Â
âThat better?â he asked.Â
You hummed in response. âThank you.âÂ
âAlways.âÂ
You closed your eyes as you exhaled deeply, trying your best to unwind the tension in every part of your body. You werenât used to trekking miles every day, eating rations youâd packed from camp or gas station food from whenever you ended up close to town, only having the woods and the sky and Luke for company. It was starting to wear on you, but you werenât going to let Luke know.Â
âI love you,â Luke said suddenly, breaking the silence, his breath tickling your neck. Your eyes snapped open. âYou know that, right?âÂ
A moment passed before you murmured, âI know.âÂ
You could feel some of the tension leave his body, and he adjusted his position to be closer to you.Â
âGood.âÂ
His curls brushed against your skin as he rested his head in the crook of your neck. Luke was a comforting presence behind you, like an anchor in the choppy waters youâd thrown yourself into, but it⌠it just felt different than the countless other times.Â
But that was only natural. You were back on the road, living the way you did when you first made the trip to Camp Half-blood with your satyr. Of course it felt different than the crowded chaos of the Hermes cabin, or the beach underneath a tapestry of stars, or your own bed at the behest of your siblings. The only thing that stayed the same was the scent of nature, and the scent of Luke.Â
Things were different, yes, but you knew that would happen. Luke was different, but you knew that would happenâhalf the reason you came along with him was because you wanted to make sure he had a lifeline, a way to come back to shore when he decided his crusade was over.Â
Because it had to be over eventually. He would decide that there was no way you could beat the gods, that it wasnât worth killing himself over some meaningless mission. The gods had never cared about you beforeâyou didnât know why they would care about some half-baked rebellion by two of their least favorite kids.Â
You loved Luke. He loved you. You told yourself that was all that mattered, because you were in this together now.Â
For better or for worse.Â

âââââââ シ ・ďžâ: *.â˝ .* :âďž. âââââââ
Kevin Magnussen is a great dad.
People can say whatever they want about his driving â aggressive and maybe a little dangerous sometimes â but there is no denying that he is an amazing father who puts his daughters above all else. The Dane is always joking about how his two little troublemakers have been giving him a constant headache, but the rest of the grid knows that he would do just about anything for his girls.
Occasionally, Louise likes bringing Laura and Agnes to the track to see their dad at work. Being a Formula 1 driver with all the hectic schedules and non-stop traveling means that family time together can often be difficult to come by, so Kevin cherishes all the time he gets to be as present in their lives as possible.Â
The drivers all love it when the Magnussens visit the track, not only because Laura and Agnes are the sweetest little angels ever, but also because they get to witness the rare sight of Kevin âtough guyâ Magnussen shedding his hard exterior and tease him about the heartwarmingly softer side he displays to his family.Â
And while you would never admit this out loud, somewhere residing deep within you is envious â envious of this kind of love that you never got to receive. Sometimes when you look at Kevin interacting with his daughters â just sometimes â you find yourself wondering what it would be like to have a father who is present, who genuinely cares, who loves you with everything they have so much that you never have to doubt your worthiness.
シ ・ďžâ: *.â˝ .* :âďž.
You were standing with a few other drivers at the track, idly chatting about the upcoming race and your holiday plans now that the winter break is right around the corner when Kevin suddenly saunters nearby, holding the hand of the most adorable little girl. âLaura, come say hi!â he kneels down and says to her, sporting the biggest and most loving smile on his face as his daughter gives a shy little wave to the crowd of drivers before her.
âHey there, Laura,â you wave at her, settling on a simple greeting since you have never been particularly great with children. âHello, little one!â Lando greets with a wide grin as he offers Laura a fist bump, and the girl explodes into giggles when he pretends to yelp in pain at how hard Laura fist-bumped him. Classic Lando â always so good with kids.
âSheâs got quite the punch, doesnât she?â Kevin jokes while he chuckles at the sight, admiring the joyous smile on Lauraâs face with the tenderest gaze he only reserves for his daughter. Becoming a father is the best thing that has happened to him, and he thanks the stars every day for being blessed with such precious gifts of life. Laura and Agnes â his biggest pride and joy.
âHere to be dadâs little assistant, Laura?â Max asks, his nose scrunching up in an adoring smile like the way it always does when he speaks to Penelope. The little girl nods bashfully before running to hide behind her dad, holding onto his hands as if he is her safe place, her rock.
Kevin laughs at his daughterâs endearing shyness, picks her up and envelops her in his embrace before placing a kiss on her rosy, chubby cheeks. âYouâre the best assistant in the entire world,â he whispers softly, adoration swimming in his eyes while Laura lets out a giggle at her fatherâs words. The drivers around them cannot help but smile along with them â how can they not at such a heartwarming sight?Â
Yet watching Kevinâs doting smiles and the way he looks at his daughter as if she is his entire universe, the initial warm fuzziness within you silently morphs into a dull ache that squeezes at your heart â an odd yet familiar feeling you know all too well. Despite your best efforts to push them away, your mind becomes clouded with hazy memories of the past â the painful past that has broken you and haunted you for years.
In the fogged-up memories of your childhood days, you were never at the receiving end of such an affectionate gaze. The only way your father has ever looked at you was indifference, annoyance, and a sense of uncaringness that tore your little heart up into pieces and left you wondering what you did wrong to be so undeserving of the fatherly love you yearned for.Â
He never picked you up and hugged you as if you were a fragile treasure that he cherished. He never held your hand in a way that made you feel safe and certain that nothing could ever harm you because he would be your shield, protecting you from the world and its merciless cruelty. He never once made you feel loved and cared for, ignoring your attempts to gain his validation and approval because he loved himself and his ego more than he would ever love you.Â
When you received good grades at school and showed him your report card with the rows of Aâs, hoping that it would help you get his approval, he didnât praise you. In fact, he didnât bother saying anything. He simply gave you a half-hearted nod before shifting his attention back to the damned television screen in front of him, some uninteresting TV show that never should have mattered more than his daughter. So you stuffed the tear-stained report card back into your school bag, uncaring that it got crushed and crumpled, because in the end your hard work and effort didnât matter. It never did.
When you had a rough day at school and came home with tears running down your cheeks, your father looked at you for a second, rolled his eyes and walked away. So that night you cried yourself to sleep as you soaked through your pillows with your wallowing tears, wishing that your dad could wrap you in his arms and tell you that everything would be okay. You knew that he could hear your sobs across the hallway, but chose to ignore you anyway. You wondered if he hated you that much, or was it simply because he never even cared to begin with?
And when he finally gathered all his belongings and disappeared from your life once and for all, you surprised yourself when you didnât cry at the sight of the now-empty house. You had just felt empty and lonely â so painstakingly lonely. The kind of loneliness that seeped into your bones and slithered along your veins and consumed your soul.Â
As you grew older, you became familiarized with that emptiness â comfortable with it even. You begin to find yourself pushing people away when they get too close, keeping most at arm's length because that seems like the safest option, breaking your own heart before others can do it because you never want to experience the same heartbreak your father has put you through.
Despite how painful it is, you hold onto that loneliness like a lifeline because how could you not when thatâs the only thing you know? How could you love when you donât even know what it feels like?
Even though it had been years since your dad had left, the emptiness he had left behind never seemed to fade away. They say time heals all wounds, but you call that bullshit, because then why does it still hurt like a fresh stab into the heart?Â
Too deep in your storm of thoughts, you donât realize the tears brimming in your glossy eyes and the way your lips quiver ever so slightly. âHey⌠you okay there?â Charles, who is standing beside you, gives you an affectionate pat on the shoulders and whispers hushedly in your ear, worried at your sudden change in demeanor. Quickly nodding your head, you answer him with the best smile you can manage, âYeah, just remembering some things.â
While most of the drivers still have their focus on Kevin and Laura, a few have also noticed your red-rimmed eyes and quietness. âWhatâs wrong?â Lando mouths the question silently toward you, eyes wide in concern as he tries not to shift everybodyâs attention toward you. You shake your head and mouth ânothingâ in reply to him as discreetly as possible, not wanting to ruin the groupâs mood with your sudden sentiments.Â
As much as you want to stay, you simply need to get away for a moment to recollect your thoughts. âUh â Thereâs something I need from my driverâs room, so Iâm gonna head off,â you hurriedly blink away the tears and put on the best smile â a skill you learned to master after years of being in the publicâs eye. You hope that the excuse you just blurted out is somewhat believable, and you quickly disappear into the distance after your fellow drivers bid you goodbye.Â
While making a beeline for your driver's room, you cannot help but feel so embarrassed, so guilty for the sudden burst of emotions that erupted in your chest moments ago. âWhat is wrong with me?â you mumble hushedly to yourself as you make your way to the garage â irritated and beyond annoyed at yourself that the mere sight of Kevin with his daughter is enough to bring you to tears.Â
This isnât something new to you. It isnât the first time a good father-daughter relationship has made you tear up. Movies, TV shows, song lyrics â you always get so emotional when you allow yourself to get lost in your thoughts, thinking too deeply about the painful reminders of the love that you never have.Â
It makes you feel stupid, because how broken do you have to be that trivial things like these are enough to make you cry? And it makes you feel scared, so utterly scared, because what if you were too broken to ever be capable of loving someone this much, too damaged to ever receive love despite yearning for it, and end up pushing away everyone who cares about you for the rest of your life.
When you arrive at your driver's room, you take a seat in the corner, breathing in and out while the self-blaming thoughts inside your head spiral in full force. This is so stupid, you are being stupid, and you hate yourself for being a fool and letting your past trauma affect you like this. Why were you even crying? There is nothing to be crying for. Stop. You need to stop.
Then you hear someone calling your name, voice faint and soft behind the door â Max. âYou feeling okay?â he asks, and your delayed response and trembling voice as you answer him, âIâm fine.â are a clear enough indicator that you are far from okay. âAlright, Iâm gonna come in now.â A sigh of mixed emotions falls from your lips â annoyance that you never seem to be able to lie to the man, and gratefulness that he always understands what you really need, and right now it is the company of your best friend.
âHey, kiddo,â he says to you, eyebrows ceasing in sadness when he notices the expression on your face. Max hates seeing you like this, especially knowing the reason behind your tears is your absent father â someone who will never be worthy of having you cry over him.Â
You wipe your eyes with the sleeve of your race suit, guilt weighing heavily on your chest as you apologize, âIâm sorry⌠I didnât mean to ruin the mood back there. Did the other drivers notice?â Max shakes his head with a frown, refusing to let you blame yourself for something you should never feel guilty for. âYou donât have to be sorry, you did nothing wrong.â
âI donât even know why I am crying, honestly. Why am I still so angry and sad after all these years? Itâs like⌠am I always going to be like this, broken? Will the hurt ever go away?â you explain truthfully to him while trying to piece your muddle-up thoughts together, yet you struggle to put them into words. How can you begin to explain the years of trauma your dad has left behind? How can you describe the mess of emotions you have for him â the hatred, the resentment, and the fact that you still love and miss him so much even after everything he has done to you?
You donât need to, because Max understands, he always does. One of the reasons why you two became close quickly is because you share a similar, troubled past â something that is rather unfortunate to bond over, you would argue, but it brings you a great friend nonetheless. Maxâs father isnât exactly absent like yours â Jos Verstappen is still quite prominent in his life, along with his abusive and manipulative ways of raising his kids which he would vehemently deny and claims to be âtough loveâ instead.
Even though he is there, it doesnât change the painful truth that the presence of his father has ruined Max. For years, he thought being violent was the way to solve problems because his dad always seemed to be able to solve his with his fist. He used to believe that you had to be perfect to be deserving of good things in life because he grew up with the punishment of âno dinnerâ if he had performed poorly in a race. He didnât know if he would ever be capable of loving someone, and then he met Kelly and Penelope.
âYou know⌠when I first met Penelope, I was terrified. I was scared that I could never be a good enough father figure for her, that I was too ruined to show her the love she deserved to have. But then I saw her, and then I realized I love her more than anything,â he confesses as he places himself to sit beside you, a reminiscent smile dancing on his lips while he remembers his first time meeting Penelope, the little girl who has become his family.
He remembers the suffocating fear of ending up like his father when he first held the hands of little Penelope, mind plagued with all the horrible what-ifs. What if he was a terrible dad? What if he couldnât ever love Penelope? What if he was just like Jos Verstappen and ended up destroying her childhood with his anger and temper the way his dad had with his?
Then Penelope gave him a sweet smile, her tiny hand holding onto his pinky as she looked into his eyes with such trust and comfort, as if she knew that Max would love her more than anything in the world. Max genuinely thought he was going to cry, his heart surging with an overwhelming amount of love and determination to protect the little girl in front of her and give her the home she and Kelly deserve to have, and thatâs when he knew that he had nothing to be afraid of â that he was going to do better than his father.
âListen, kiddo. Time doesnât heal all wounds, it just makes the pain bearable. But there will be a day when your wound will still be there â it always will be there â but the pain and the hatred will no longer consume you. And you will realize that you can be better and stronger than your past, that you can break the cycle, that you are deserving of such unconditional love too.â You listen quietly to your best friendâs answer, exhaling a relieved sigh at the words you so desperately need to hear, giving you hope that despite all your trauma, one day you will be able to love with such certainty as well.
You are never too broken to love or be loved. You are not damaged goods that need repairing. You are not a monster for being intimidated by love and affection, for pushing people away even though you want more than anything for them to stay. You just need to allow yourself to heal from the hurtful past, to understand that your past trauma does not define you. You need to allow yourself to feel, to accept the depths of your emotions, to understand that your sadness and anger are always valid. You need to believe that you will be better than your father, that you will not follow in his footsteps, and that you deserve to be loved just as much as anyone else.Â
Feeling sentimental over this doesnât make you stupid or a fool, it just makes you human. It is okay to cry over it, to be sad over it, as long as you remember that one day â while things will never be perfect â it will certainly get better.Â
âYouâre gonna be okay,â Max tells you with a smile, reaching for your hand to give it a comforting squeeze, and you believe him. For once in a very long time, you genuinely believe that everything is going to be okay. The impact your father has on you will always be there. You can never wipe away the hurt and awful things he has done to you, nor can you simply erase the simultaneous love and hatred you hold for him, but one day you will learn to move on and find closure, and you are going to be okay, just like Max said.
There is a knock on the door, and you can hear your name being called again, this time in the soft and squeaky voice of a little girl. âIâm here,â you answer, and peeking behind the gap in the door is Laura with a cheeky grin on her face. Kevin leads her inside your driver's room with an apologetic smile, âHey, sorry⌠Laura says she wants to play with you and insists that I bring her here.âÂ
You watch as Laura crawls up into the seat next to you and Max, looking at you with the brightest toothy little grin ever, and your lips begin pulling up into a huge smile as well. âIs it okay if she plays here for a while? Iâve got a team meeting in 5 and she never likes coming to thoseâŚâ Kevin asks apologetically before relief floods his expression when you answer him, âIt would be lovely to have a little playdate with Laura.â
âAlrighty, see you later little one,â Kevin leans down to place a kiss on his daughterâs head, reminding her to be a good kid when he is away for the meeting, and you smile at the sight. Not an envious one, or a reminiscent one, but one of contentment because you know that one day you will be able to receive and give such unconditional love to someone too.
Someday, it will be okay. You will be okay.

![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/96ba1e175ad90236ee192e074c92b187/6b97a81858c0c12b-1c/s540x810/87526669527b51bcb0997f45a8db8c57afd6d5ee.jpg)
THIS IS ELLIS! I actually love drawing him so much. I will admit that I have not thought too much about his backstory BUUTTT he makes up for it in personality!
Ellis was about 16 during splatoon 1, and he moved to the city for college when he was 18. Shortly after, he was recruited to the NSS by Marie. As of splatoon 3, he is 21 years old! He mains the Slosher Deco.
He is a freakishly tall lanky dude. Heâs very book smart but acts goofy and stupid and snarky and lacks common sense. Heâs a bit of a flirt and Marie acts like she canât stand him. They tease each other a lot but they genuinely care for each other a LOT! But theyâd never admit it!! Ew gross!!
He feels like a bit of a disappointment to his parents because he was supposed to be going to this fancy college in the city, but ended up leaving it and becoming an agent full time. PLUS he canât tell them that heâs a secret agent saving the world, so they just think he works at a gas station or something đ
Hero mode was a totally new experience for him. Marie never doubted him though. Now heâs an extremely talented agent. Heâs really good at coming up with strategies and is extremely intelligent on the battlefield. Heâs just so goofy that everyone forgets heâs actually smart.

In the beginning, he didnât know who the squid sisters were at ALL because he basically lived under a rock until moving, and he was like, âpff, you canât be that big of a deal.â LMAO.
He and Marie quickly became best frenemies. They often teased each other and had a lot of good banter and really good chemistry. Ellis developed a little crush on her but never thought it would be reciprocated!
One night, Ellis was injured on a mission. He is very deliberate about his missions, always having a plan - so he rarely gets injured.
When he came back, he saw a side of Marie that heâd never seen before. She was worried for him, helping him with his injury. The two of them realized that this was serious work. Ellis could have died. It also brought Marie to a realization. She really, really cared about agent 4. There was maybe a little crush starting to formâŚ!!!
But the two of them STILL havenât done anything about it. Itâs been 3 YEARS. They are the definition of slow burn. Just because neither of them wants to admit that they like the other.
Near the end of splatoon 2 hero mode, Ellis became an agent full time and dedicated all his time to finding Callie. And they did!!!!! It was super awesome yay!!!!!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ade050a499356fa60fe2e90a5fb04ebf/6b97a81858c0c12b-21/s540x810/4228a297b274ecbb2db342a5be9a0949ec785f1b.jpg)
Currently, the NSS is bigger than ever before and they even made agent 3 the captain.
Ellis is still a goofball and loves to be silly with Callie and agent 8 (Olive.) Those two are like his sisters. The New agent 3 (Margot) is a little off putting but that doesnât bother Ellis at all. Every once in a while, he works a salmon run shift with her, and itâs crazy how good she is.
Ellis understands that 3 and 8 went through a lot down in the metro and wants to do anything he can to help them free the sanitized octolings. (This is what led to him working on the memverse with Marina!) Sometimes the agents go down to the empty remains of Kamabo to see if they can find anyone. They are usually unsuccessful but it seems to clear 8âs conscience.
I still donât really understand side order. Um. I kind of didnât like how it was all virtual đ maybe I will make it a little different just for the sake of story. Idk yet. But yea!
Thatâs all I have on Ellis, heâs my boy! I think heâs my favorite to draw, and his design has been the only one not to undergo any change.
And that concludes my agent yap sessions! If you guys want to know anything about them (or send them asks or something) my askbox is always open! I love answering questions :) ((even if I am a little slow ahhhh sorry!!))
But yeah!! Iâll make official character sheets and stuff sometime soon :D thanks so much for sticking around if you made it this far!! đŤśđŤś

Brain vomit...I am insanely jealous of the people who can get the new merch. And I am planning an elaborate heist. But aside from that, I'm also crazy over the lore implications of the new photo-card designs...
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/df565eed637167c2637382d25bd32bc0/8ad4f9492a3e8e58-5f/s540x810/e0051147af620bb9c10385572929b83ee873162c.jpg)
Of course, they're all suffering as per usual. But it's symbolized by cracks in their skin. When I saw that, I immediately linked it back to the collapse of barriers, secrets, structures, etc. The hearts, however, confused me a bit. But I suppose it's because the reason they all "broke" is ultimately because of their love.
This is probably the most distressed Ivan has ever looked in a photo card, and really, he's honest. The tone of his card is sickeningly oversaturated and overwhelming, and his emotions are visceral, I also find it interesting how the cracks are littered all over his face, and the hearts leak out like that from the neck--and Ivan holds his face like he's trying to "fix" it, or in other words, "keep it together" as he's breaking down and becoming vulnerable, he has to cover up his expression behind something more appealing as he always does. He's also wearing his Anakt Garden uniform. When he was a child, he was just learning how to develop his mask. But even then, he faltered sometimes, Ivan's automatic response is always to try to fix it, even if he's underplaying the severity of his feelings, it's what he has to do regardless, I love his card for that portrayal when he tries to keep one wound closed, another wound opens, its erratic and uncontrollable, like his true emotions. When I see him trying, it looks like it's hard because, well--he's breaking down. Normally, you can't just bounce back from that, so in this rare moment, he struggles with how to deal with it. (A certain desperation to keep up the act?) (His eyes. I really like his eyes in this PC, it's more akin to those moments when his true expression comes out, in those very rare moments)
And then there's Till, I feel pain when my wife feels pain. His expression, too, is very overwhelming. Like he's suffocating too, But his cracks are minimal, not because his pain is small but because vulnerability--something he loathes, is coming to the surface. In tears, Till is suppressing his emotions. Who he bleeds for is ambiguous here, you could say the hearts are for Ivan or for Mizi, but I think it's both. Because he hides from the both of them and eventually the love he feels for them both seeps out one way or the other like a slow leak through a crack in the wall, he's spent so many years building a fortress of a barrier to emotionally separate himself from others, it's his way of protecting himself. But at the peak of his suffering, long too deep into this hell, losing Mizi and then Ivan, he's crying because he's slowly breaking down, and the way he grips at his hair like he's trying to hold back...urgh. In different ways, indifferently, Till ignores Ivan and his affections, and fearfully, he avoids Mizi, instead watching her from afar, doing small things to feel close to her, even when he has the opportunity to get closer, and even when she acknowledges that he's so avoidant of her that it makes Mizi concerned if he even likes her or not, as was said in the Artbook when asked for her opinion of him:
"Mizi -> Till: I'd love to be friends with him. He's an artist who's so dedicated to his work. But he seems to be avoiding me... Does he hate me?"
Till doesn't confront relationships any more than he has to even though he cares so so deeply for them because confronting his emotions and confronting vulnerability, sadness, happiness, etc., and especially fear, is a commitment you have to understand how to accept and respond to, and Till doesn't understand the how when he can only go back to his starting point, hiding and or getting angry, because it's easier. At this point, it's instinct. Shyness is one thing, but doubt is something that can make you freeze in place, confuse you, make you feel unsafe, and even hinder your ability to control yourself in the wake of fear. Fear is what roots Till in place. Till, even for how emotional and sensitive he truly is, he fears the type of vulnerability being emotional requires, he knows of it, but he can never truly embrace it out of fear, that's why he rarely ever shows his heart. He already knows that wearing your weakness on your sleeve leaves you vulnerable to pain, he used to be childish and vulnerable once, and technically, he still is, but just imagine what years upon years of cruelty has instilled in him. So he acts cold and avoidant, and these misunderstood emotions lead to other misguided intentions. That's what brings me to the quote on the back of his pc
Translation:
"ěŹë ę°ě ě 매í ë§ëł´ë¤ ěŚě¤ë ë§ě´ íě¤í´ě" -> "The word hatred is more certain than vaguer words like love"
Rather than confronting uncertainty and exploring the confusing, unpredictable, and gray area that is love, hate is honest, hate is intentional, hate is malleable, and you can control it. It's Till's response to feeling unsafe to resort to anger, in the same way, Ivan resorts to trying to fix it and put on a facade. Again, it ties back to the fact that Till doesn't and has never hated Ivan, but understanding Ivan is as confusing as understanding love, Till is as much of a puzzle himself. That's why they confuse each other and clash. So they come close but remain distanced because their connection is almost like unattractive magnets, Till is sensitive and loving, compared to Ivan's regrets; of not being nicer, of not understanding how to get closer to Till, then I think about what Till's recollection of his relationship with Ivan and Mizi in retrospective would be like when he does acknowledge it.
And now...mmizisua. To me, Sua looks more aware of her pain than Mizi is, like in the storyline, she is more aware of their fragility and the cruelness of their environment. It's surely a parallel to the way Sua had kept Mizi in the dark for so many years, even when this pain and this love are so destructive, she covers up her wound with her hand and hides it from Mizi, to protect her, her wound is a direct correlation to her (inevitable) death, a truth that would shatter Mizi, even after he death she wants Mizi to remember her the same as she was when she was alive, unaffected by their world. She tries to force a smile as if everything is still okay, especially because she doesn't want to affect the way Mizi looks at her so lovingly, how would Mizi ever recover if she knew the truth?
And Mizi would seemingly be none the wiser if not for the tears because, to me, she knows but looks to Sua for comfort, to forget even when she is hurt the same way, I love this side of MiziSua a lot, the side that highlights the cruelty of their relationship that surrounds their bubble, because as long as they could distract themselves with the presence of each other, the co-dependence of their dynamic, they could forget as if they couldn't feel the pain at all as long as they had each other, but Mizi is still so affected by her pain, all this hiding had amounted to nothing in the end because Mizi never changes in Sua's eyes, and Sua is still hiding her pain, but that day, Sua had broken that bubble of ignorance to the evil around them. Mizi's cracking, and she shows Sua when she pulls back her hair. It's an interesting contrast between MiziSua and IvanTill, when Mizi and Sua smile, they look happy to be in love, even if it's twisted and hurts each other, because they only rely on each other, and Ivan and Till look inconsolably pained.
